Welcome to One Piano Pieces Answers
Open Question: I'm trying to remember this a song/artist?
Okay, so she is a female singer. The album I'm familiar with is of the dark-haired woman with her hands cupped in front of her. She's slightly smiling and the background was either a dark night sky or just white.
She had a few instrumentals, mostly just piano, and some songs she sang. I'm afraid I can't do much to describe them past possibly remember parts of some of the names. One piano piece that was slow and sounded like rain was named something like fire, flame? Or maybe not. And there was another song she sang named something like Tidal Wave or Untidal or something. Or maybe not.
It's just driving me crazy, but I don't remember much at all. Can anybody piece together who I'm failing to describe?Guesses:
Evanescence - Nope :\ But yeah, I do like them :P
moreOpen Question: Am I right to be angry??? PLEASE READ!!!?
Ok...So I'm 17 and I help out and take lessons at this dance studio which the person who teaches there is the founder my teacher and I guess you could say my mentor in a way.
I've been dancing and helping out with performances and classes there since the age of 9. I'm one of the best there in terms of dance, and I would say pretty knowledgeable.
things i know /could do- Piano (diploma in performance)Guitar (grade 8) Bas Guitar, Drums, Singing
I dance-Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, Chinese dance, Acting, Competitive swimming, Filming+post production.........and more
Back to the point I've always felt under appreciated have been treated with little respect.
e.g this guy came for lessons 2 years ago barely made it out of high school and not in any university or art school not to mention he can't dance and still really can't and my mentor employed him as a dancer teacher/assistant later. And though conversations my mentor said that he would not employ me because I wasn't good enough, so he's saying that the other guy is better than me right?
My mentor is a very particular person, he doesn't like it when we get in relationships because he doesn't like it when we get distracted so when we're in the studio its work. And when I did get one he forced me out of it, and acted all pissy and stuff, but now that guy is dating a girl that comes for class and he didn't say a word, or did anything...it also happened with this other girl that i've trained for since i was young, he didn't say a word.
Today he got a job like last minute which he had to choreograph a piece with this artist, and he gave him the opportunity instead of me to do it. He didn't even bother to ask me if i wanted, he asked him instead.
When I was little these kids that used to dance with me were performing in a concert, this girl made a mistake but then went we got back stage every one blamed me, the next day we identified who it was but he didn't stick up for me saying that it wasn't my fault he didn't say anything.
This girl that used to train with be since I was young just suddenly stopped taking class for half a year because she went for another studio, he was not very happy about it. But when she came back he was so nice to her as if nothing happened, she got all the centers positions and job opportunities.
I think he cares about me, but I feel like he's not faithful to me. After all I'd done for him, I stoop up for him all the time believed in him, does everything he asks me to, vouched for him.
Do I have too much ego or am I right to feel angry???
What do you think of him? My mentor/teacher? Is he just strict to me because he think I have a good further and he doesn't want to mess it up or is he just not faithful to me?
moreOpen Question: Upcoming piano competition help?
I am participating in a piano competition in November and the competition repertoire for my age group is a selection of Chopin Nocturnes.
Nocturne in B Flat Minor Op 9 No 1
Nocturne in F Sharp Major Op 15 No 2
Nocturne in F minor Op 55 No 1
Nocturne in E Flat Major Op 55 No 2
My teacher told me that some pieces are easier than the others and that if you pick one of the easier ones, no matter how well you execute it technically and emotionally, it's likely that you won't win, thus i'm not sure which one I should pick that would be more difficult. Which one would that be? Also, i've attempted Op 15 No 2 but i decided to abandon it because the rhythms in it are extremely complex and I've never played rhythm on that kind of level before. For the competition, I just play one of the nocturnes. Not all 4
moreResolved Question: What songs should I learn next on acoustic guitar?
I've been playing for nearly two years now, but because of my focus on piano, I've been slacking. So I'm way below the level I should be at right now. I'd consider myself a beginner.
With that said, I want to make the jump to the next level.
Songs I can play right now include:
Wonderwall - Oasis
I Will Follow You Into the Dark - DCFC
Here Comes the Sun - Beatles
Here Without You - 3 Doors Down
The intro solo of One - Metallica
The main riff and various bits and pieces of Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson (yes, on my acoustic)
And then a bunch of other even easier stuff like Never Too Late, Hey Soul Sister, Kryptonite, etc.
So yeah, you can tell I'm a beginner. But I don't want other beginner songs. I want something more challenging so I can improve my skill set.
And anything's fine, including flatpicking, finger picking, tapping (just getting the hang of that), etc. As long as it's playable on acoustic (even if the original wasn't). Preferably out of rock music though (not a huge fan of country).
Thanks.Sorry if I didn't make it clear, but I'm not going for something easy that sounds cool or whatever. I'm going for things that are legitimately difficult (again, as a piano player, I'm used to taking months to learn a single song), and by practicing such a song, my skills improve as well.
Like Dust in the Wind (Can't believe I forgot that song) is something what I'm searching for.

I do pageants, and my talent is singing and playing the piano.... I want to hear some ideas for songs that would sound good and be pageant appropriate, if you know what I mean.. I'm 15, so try to name songs that could be sung by somebody my age and actually be true.... Also, a like classical pieces, if you know some really pretty sounding ones, name them too!
Links to websites are nice too! :)I didn't say the artist had to be 15* in fact Vanessa Carlton songs are perfect! And I will definitely try out listen to your heart! :) I'll try playing around with the chords of different songs too!
moreVoting Question: What is this piece of music (Twilight score)?
There is a really lovely piece of piano music which is in the Twilight soundtrack but I can't find where it is or which piece it is! It is NOT Bella's Lullaby. I have the Twilight DVD and it's used on the Scene Selections option. If you press Scene Selections from the main menu of the Twilight DVD (I think it's the second option down, the one below 'Play movie'), it's the background music to it. I think it's used in the film as well but I can't remember which scene and I don't want to have to re-watch the film to find out! It's quite a melancholy piece of piano music. Could anyone tell me? Thank you!Edit: no, it's not Debussy's Clair de lune. If anyone has the Twilight DVD, go onto Scene Selections and you'll hear the piece of music to which I'm referring. I just can't figure out what it is!
moreResolved Question: When is music theory taught where you live, and do you think it should play a bigger role?
When I was growing up "music theory" just meant the annoying books and exercises my piano teachers periodically made me do. I hated it, and I never remembered any of it- I must have learned and forgotten the circle of fifths twenty times!
Between all my years in piano and all my years in summer camps and youth orchestras, I got a pretty good idea of what most music students learned, and music theory was certainly not high on the list. In the US, at least, it seems that most people only learn it in college, if they become music majors. That is when I took it, and even if the first year dragged a little ("parallel fifths" haunted me in my sleep!), by the second year I fell in love with it. Then everything just came together- we learned chord progressions and resolutions, and then modulations and chromaticism and augmented sixths, and by the end of it I realized I could actually compose. What I had thought would just be a chore turned into one of the most fascinating things I ever studied, and I couldn't believe how few music lovers and even musicians really got into it.
Learning music theory dramatically changed the way I performed too. Instead of just playing pieces like I always had, I actually took them apart structurally and discovered amazing things, and I began reading detailed music theory analyses of great pieces shortly afterward. (If you're ever curious, ask me about what Schubert tried shortly before his death, it's one of the most innovative and unique approaches to composing I have ever seen...)
So I'm wondering- how many of you have studied music theory in depth, and when/where did you do this? How often do you apply this knowledge to your performances, or even to the music you listen to? Did you have as much of a revelation as I did when you really dug into it? :)
moreResolved Question: I am trying to teach myself piano. please correct me if im wrong!!?
I recently within the last 6 months found out that i LOVE music. like i never dreamed of lol. Well anyways im 15 i live in a small town usa pretty much lol. there is one person who plays piano that i know and they aren't interested in giving lessons. so i decided to teach myself =) but the thing is that im not sure if im teaching myself everything i need to know. so thats where u, the intelligent musical community of yahoo answers, comes into play. please let me know if the "plan" i have in my head is insane or if it sounds reasonable or whatever you think lol. I bought a little $200 keyboard off of craigslist. i bought some beginners sheet music for a bunch of coldplay music i like. I do know how to read sheet music but i didnt know how to translate what i was reading and understanding into what i could actually play on the piano (the different keys, some different music theory, ect.). so i looked up this guy on youtube who has a bunch of lessons on just such things. the link is at the end. On one more note, i love to practice on the piano. i really enjoy it. and seeing as how there is JACK for me to do otherwise, im glad i love to play. so practicing isnt an issue =) my plan in short, is to learn 4 different songs over the next year from my coldplay music book, teaching myself all the different concepts and such as i go and just working through it and memorizing the music and everything. and when i am stuck i can turn to the youtube lessons for some clarity and everything. in about. ooooh a year and half maybe? id like to sit down and learn how to play my favorite contemporary song, 100 years by five for fighting. which is an intermediate piece of music. and then once thats all done i just keep moving from song to song, finding music for whatever song i want and then playing it. Does this sound like an alright idea? or should i beg and beg for the one woman in town who plays to give me lessons? thank you all who comment
here is the guy and his lessons on youtube.

moreResolved Question: I love my best friend and I can't tell if he loves me back as just a best friend or as something more.?
I'm completely in love with my best friend but I feel as if I cannot tell him because that would ruin our amazing friendship if he were to tell me that he loves me back as only a best friend. I am so confused and I honestly cannot tell if he loves or likes me back like that. All my friends who know both of us think he likes me back. I even just found out the other day that people have thought we are together! Ok this might sound weird... but... I'm really close with his mom because she is my voice coach and I have known her for a really long time and she's really cool and everything. We were talking during my voice lesson about the mission trip to Nicaragua that he and I had both gone on and she said that he kept telling her how amazing I am and how amazing I was with all the Nicaraguan kids from the orphanage and how they all loved me and everything. And she tells me that he thinks I have an amazing voice. She told me not to tell him that she told me. :p And that he was shocked about how "talented" I am because he overheard me practicing this really hard piece on the piano.
But, since we tell each other everything, the other day he was telling me that he might like this girl again that he went to camp with last year and even dated in January. I was heartbroken because I really started to think that he had loved me. Also, I'm going to camp with him next week. He's the only one I know and I'm the only one he knows... he invited me to go with him this year because he loved it last year. It's a Christian camp. Anyway, I don't know whether to tell him or not because I feel like our friendship will be ruined.
Sometimes I think he loves me... we flirt all the time and hang out just us a lot and he says things that make me think he likes me... and I catch him staring at me. :p And all the guys that know us both say that he talks about me a lot. One guy said that they were talking about how cute I was in their dorm room in Nicaragua and he walked in and said that we had the best sister-brother type relationship. But apparently, he kept saying it a lot and all the guys said they thought that he was just trying to convince them that he didn't like me and maybe himself because they didn't even ask him whether or not he liked me, he just kept saying stuff about me. He was being defensive and stuff. But sometimes I think not... when he's talking about that girl. He sends mixed signals. I'm not sure if he realizes it or not.
And by the way, this isn't just a crush... I've really liked him for some time now... maybe 2 years believe it or not... and I've never truly liked another guy because he's been in the back of my mind every time I have a boyfriend or anything. I really don't know what to do. So can you help me? Should I tell him how I feel? Do you think I should wait? Or never tell him? Or do you think he likes me back at all? And if it helps, I'm 16 and he's 17. Thanks for your time!!! :)

moreResolved Question: How should I write a song?
okay. i just want to say, to begin with, i am not asking for basic information.
i've been in a band for ten years. i have been obsessively listening to music since the age of 3. i am primarily a drummer. but even as a drummer, i've had great instincts as to the direction of songs. when my band has written a song, i've often contributed a musical part, or idea, that has substantially improved the song.
just for an example, my ideas often come from playing with the musical themes already in the song. i generally like to drastically change the second verse. possibly a tempo or speed change. we had a song around for years that didnt go too far, until one day we just happened to be jamming, and i suggested what we were doing would make a great intro to said song, which subsequently gave the song the appropriate spice, and made it a bit heavier.
aside from that, i've been a writer of prose for a very long time.
i play a bit of guitar, but i dont use a pick, and my ability is limited. i have been playing piano self taught for a couple of years.
and here's where my problem begins.
i am very confident i have what it takes to be a song writer. but i just can't seem to complete anything. i have a total slew of incomplete musical pieces that range from just a riff, or a 30 second piece, in some cases even up to a 2 minute piece.
but i kind of have a "the chicken or the egg?" complex, and it mostly has to do with writing melodies. i have experience with writing melodies, as i have contributed a strong one or two to our songs. this usually came as a result of hearing the musical idea on the guitar with no melody, but being handed someone else's rough lyrics. i have also managed to make a strong melody out of previously written lyrics of my own, with the song already written.
i've often wondered which should come first: the melody or the song? or what about the partial song? should the melody guide the song changes or vice versa?
i believe a song should necessarily be organic, and ought to include as many dazzling changes as possible, so long as they hold the listeners interest and keep the song going. i believe a band should take a song, jam, and see what kind of strange, musical rule breaking things come as a result, and then add them in a useful manner. its usually not until that has occured that a song sounds complete to me.
so let me restate my problem. along with my slew of small musical pieces, i have a slew of incomplete prose, or potential lyrics. i just can't seem to complete anything.
i've tried lots of things, sort of. i've hypothesized that maybe what i ought to do is wait until the day that i complete a set of prose (hasn't happened) and then simply choose one of my pieces, and start finding a melody. i have a very hard time finding a melody for my pieces, because i'm very picky. i believe a good melody should usually be very independent of the rest of whats behind it. my fellow band members are pretty good at spitting out rough lyrics with a melody on the spot, as they write, and i seem to lack the ability to do that. i seem to need lyrics already written before i can make a cool melody that flows. in literally only a couple of cases, i DO actually have a melody, but no real lyrics. i also think it can be helpful to pay attention to only the drums when writing a melody. but therein lies another problem. i cannot imagine drums that interest me, when it comes to my own material. only straight forward beats.
so i'm kind of hoping that anyone who has bothered to read all of this might have a sort of out of the box approach to song writing that i haven't thought of already. or even that i have thought of, but should further try. frankly i'd just like to hear from someone else who shares this problem. thanks in advance.
moreResolved Question: Which song should I dance to? I have a shortlist, but I can't make up my mind....?
I'm making a solo ballet routine over the summer, and I need to choose a song. I'm not sure which style I should do...I could go in for the quiet, subtle and beautiful, but that risks a lot of understatement. Or I could do something bigger and showier, but risk looking terrible. My shortlist is:
You Would Have Loved This - Tarja Turunen. I keep coming back to this, it's a really sweet song with lots of beautiful vocals and piano. Very easy to dance to, I can get a lot of extension and poise in here. It's a subtle one.
Fleurs du Mal - Sarah Brightman. I don't know it so well yet, but it's a big symphonic piece. I could do something big and showy, but it would be difficult to completely choreograph it all because it's quite long.
Cosmic Love - Florence and the Machine. Kind of surreal, quirky. This would be an odd dance to choreograph, and it would be a challenge, but I risk looking like an idiot if I get it wrong.
Seven Sirens and a Silver Tear - Sirenia. This is a piano piece, no vocals. Very beautiful, subtle and soft.
Oasis - Tarja Turunen. Another piano piece, it contains some of Tarja's haunting vocals.
Broken Strings - James Morrison and Nelly Furtado. A nice piece, with a good in-built story.
Last Night on Earth - Greenday. A very weird piece. But doable.
Lacrymosa - Evanescence. Another symphonic/rock. This would be a challenge.
So what do you think? I encourage you to either listen to them first, and don't just pick your favorite song out of them. I'm thinking Oasis or the Sirenia. Or maybe You Would Have Loved This. What's your opinion?

moreVoting Question: I need a really beautiful instrumental song for my experimental film?
I don't mind whether it's Radiohead or classical piano, I just need something that creates a meaningful mood. The film itself will go for about 4 minutes. It is about the human need to search for something to believe in, to rid ourselves of burdens by endlessly looking for an answer. But time waits for no-one and opportunities pass by you while you are busy searching for them. I would love i someone could suggest a melancholy or dark sort of piece to match this.
Thanks guys :DI mean an instrumental piece of music.

moreResolved Question: Questions about YAGP contemporary variations?
I plan on competing in the Youth American Grand Prix this year, and have gotten the go-ahead from my instructor and school. They said that I could choose a choreographer from the school or pay for one myself for my contemporary piece. However, an instructor from a school I used to attend really gets my style and what choreography works for me, so I was thinking about asking her to choreograph and coach my contemporary piece.
Anyhow, I've been watching lots of contemporary variations from YAGP on YouTube and they all seem to have the same style. Ethereal, cutesy, fairy-like pieces for the little ones and twangy, modern-sounding piano for the older ones. Only a few pieces had lyrics. The choreography has that ballet-modern fusion style, with interesting, non-traditional lines, some floor work on occasion, lots of tricks, and kind of choppy movement. The themes are usually some idea, like time passing or the earth turning or dawn rising or something like that. I looked at the YAGP website, and it said that a contemporary variation can be anything that's not on the classical repertoire list. I was wondering why, with such a broad range and vague category, all of the pieces look so similar. Is that just the understood style? Am I only seeing the pieces that fit this style? Would something more jazzy, like a Broadway song (or maybe its piano version) be a bad idea? Or maybe something classical that's more than just piano and strings? Something without minimalist, modern-y movement? Another main thing I noticed was that the bulk of them didn't seem very fun or lighthearted; they were much more serious and even stoic on occasion. Would something more fun (Broadway, some piano rendition of a more upbeat, pop song maybe, something with character) be a bad idea?
moreResolved Question: I suck at the piano. I've been playing for around 6 years...?
2 years ago, I stopped playing the piano.
=----
I feel really embarrassed to tell someone I have been playing piano for 6 years.... when I suck.
Maybe, "suck" is a little exaggerated. But I'm no-where near super-good either.
For example, I was considered a "protege" when I was little... because my uncle forced the piano on me. he would show me all these complicated pieces.. and I was forced to memorize them within a week. So I hated it.
---
But then my uncle's health deteriorated. and so did my piano skills...
cause there was no one bugging me to play.
I also had a piano teacher at the time. But she didn't really taught me any music theory. except some the notes.
I guess... I feel a little "cheated"
I mean... I wish someone actually tried to make piano enjoyable to me... and actually taught me well....
----
All my friends who have been playing for the same amount of time as me...... are much better....
they can memorize music very quickly, sight-read without any effort...
They are like pros.oh yup.
I don't really have a question.
I guess I'mm here to rant :/

moreResolved Question: 28 years old musician/songwriter, should I go overseas (international) to pursue my utmost music dreams?
Long story short, I have somewhat regretted a lot of my youthful times by following parents' wants & expectations. I feel very tired with staying in my 7-years day job in a factory, and feel that I've wasted so much of my potentials, by doing what my parents expect/told me to do.
Now I certainly am not a bragging type of person,.but truth be told, many (if not all) people have told me that I have a "rare, unique" music talents. I can play piano (classical & jazz), keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, I also love to write songs & compose many different genres of music, including orchestral/symphony pieces for movies or video games type.
My ongoing problem/dilemma is that for my type of music, unfortunately, I don't think it would be popular or appreciated by mainstream people in my home country here (I'm in Indonesia).
My music style does involve an electronic and also orchestra/symphonic & jazz tunes combined altogether. And I've always felt (also after listening to some friends' stories) that I might have a BETTER chances at overseas countries, than in my home country, because my music would fit a LARGER market/audience there & got more appreciations than here.
However, what I'm always afraid and in constant questions is 2 things:
1. is it too LATE already, let's say, if I just "burn the bridges" and boldly go to overseas country and basically "start from zero", but with a probability of a better chances?
2. HOW or from WHERE should I start?
should I BEST start by going back to Music school, and make a network/connections there? or it's not that necessary? also I'm afraid the problems is Money...and plus, I have to be ready if my parents totally reject my idea and view it as 'crazy, unrealistic' , and hence use my OWN money..!
Or should I just go the 'thick-skinned' way of finding out & knocking out every producer or label's door on that overseas country, showing my music demos, in a HOPE for someone to really take notice for my talents and give me a chance/opportunity?? (I know one Indonesian artist/singer Anggun C. Sasmi who're actually succeed now because she used THIS kind of 'thick-skinned' way, and now she's quite popular internationally, and her talents got truly appreciated instead of going to major waste!)
OR, should I really, really take the commonly-suggested more 'conventional, safer' way of : try making a head start at my own home country (regardless of whether mainstream people would appreciate my music or not), while keep doing my music compositions/songwritings, and when there's a CHANCE, *then* I go to that overseas country?
But the problem is I'm afraid that I'll just WASTE even more times here in a country which I (& some of my music teachers & experts' opinions & suggestion to me) certainly KNOW that the market for my music is just very very terribly small,...whereas I KNOW that my music style could better be much more appreciated overseas/internationally! (oh, and I also always write/compose in English language, for my every song).
I basically just need a really really sound, workable, practical advices & insights on what should I do at this time, and better be quick,..because I'm NOT that young anymore, and I certainly don't want to end up in my 30's getting into a soul-crushing office/business type of jobs 'forced down' my throat by my 'practical, very pragmatic-minded' parents (they even already put soo much pressures nowadays for me "get real" and have "real job", get married, have kids, house, all those kind of 'normal life' things, while I still don't want that!).
I don't want my dreams to get crushed & forever buried, and I'll end up crying & resenting my life, like what I've read so many people on their 40s, 50s on the internet forums!
I want to be the BEST, fullest of me, and share my insights to the world thru my music talents & passion!
please help!!

Ok well she's been playing for about ten years and i've been playing for about eight. We're looking into a duet that's difficult, perhaps epic! hahahah And maybe one with piano accompaniment. Violinists or musicians~ could you suggest us some pieces? thanks!

moreResolved Question: Can someone suggest a piano piece for me to play in my upcoming exam?
It has been suggested that I should play something by Bach or Chopin. I'd like to do this, but nothing requiring too much virtuosity or dexterity as I've been performing several lively pieces recently (such as Bach's Concerto in D minor, BWV 1054) and feel as though people are beginning to think I am incapable of playing anything more emotionally deep or peaceful (and, consequently, are beginning to think I'm a pretentious snob). I want to avoid this misconception at all costs, so am carefullly considering what to perform. I was thinking about some sort of Adagio or Andante by Bach, or a more sleepy Nocturne from Chopin - maybe the C Sharp Minor one, Op.27? Nothing too difficult, but nothing too simple either - vaguely Grade 5 or above. However, I'd rather play something simple beautifully and pass my exam than play something difficult quite questionably and do poorly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!Um, I didn't ask for a piece of minimalist music, nor did I ask for a piece by Einaudi. I highly doubt that I Giorni is at a Grade 5 standard, as my music teachers forbad me from playing Einaudi's music a few years ago, when I was at a Grade 3 standard.
moreResolved Question: yiruma sheet music? but a difficult one to find...ten points!?
I've been looking for the sheet music for "The Things I Really" by Yiruma, but I always find the piano only version. I'm planning to do a duet for this piece, and someone is going to sing the singing part, so I need the piano accompaniment part, not the solo part. Does anyone know where to find it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

moreVoting Question: Is there sheet music for the Cabaret Revival "Money" song?
Hey all. I recently discovered the Cabaret revival soundtrack, and I fell in love with this show. I did not realize that my theater loving family played many of the songs from it throughout the house after it came out, and one of my favorite songs of all time was the Money song from it. I really really want to learn the piece on piano, but I checked everywhere to no avail. Even the "complete Cabaret collection for vocal/piano", while amazing, only has the movie version of Money Money, not the revival version. And they are a bit different.
Does anyone know where I could find/get the revival Money song? Thank you!
moreResolved Question: What do you think of Anatoli Liadov?
Or is it Lyadov? The Russian Chopin right? I've recently been enjoying his wonderful little piano pieces and have managed to learn the little prelude from four pieces op. 40(I think that's what opus it is). Boy could he write a tune! And he's perfect for my purposes since I'm moving into romantic style pieces. I heard the story about how he was commissioned to write the Firebird balled before Stravinsky ever got his hands on the assignment. Apparently he was too unmotivated/disinterested or just plain lazy to even order the paper to write it. But he writes all these wonderful lush romantic melodies, and I've yet to hear a lengthy piece of his if they even exist, he never noodles around too much. Pieces like this prelude op. 11 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oit6NVCASFc&feature=related or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9Y7CFF0qPM(that one almost has a little Scriabin in it)
Too bad he wasn't good at writing things of any length like a symphony. Still I love his music. He's a model russian composer, though there are quite a few of those. Do you have any suggestions for Liadov/Lyadov when it comes to orchestral pieces? Any personal favorites that might be good to play on the piano?

I have had a piano piece in my head for about 15 years. No one knows it; but then again, no one I know is into classical music. I'm going crazy with this. I have no way of searching it out, other than humming it to someone who could identify it.

Hi there. I hope you can tell me probably what grade I am.
I have started to take classes one time a week since january 2010. Im 15 years old but never take any exam before.
When I practice (3 times a week) I play for approximately 2 hours and I play either classical pieces or anime pieces.
From the anime genre I can play the following pieces:
Musician - D gray man
Innocent- Laputa castle in the sky
Gekitei- Sakura wars ( probably the hardest of them all )
Hokage funeral- Naruto
From the classical genre
I have been learning some Hanon and Czerny studies.
I can play invention 4 from Bach.
Im currently learning :
-Sonata K545 Mozart.
-Gymnopedie No.1 Satie.
-Nocturne in C-Sharp Minor Chopin.
-Invention 13 Bach.
-Prelude & Fugue No.2 in C minor Bach.
Sorry for some grammar mistakes ;) and for the extensive writting lol.
So when I end studying all this pieces correctly and with feeling what grade will I be?
moreResolved Question: Flute exam: I messed up the scales... Badly... Will I get a pass?
Ok, so a few hours ago I did my grade 3 flute exam with abrsm... and everything was fine with the pieces... everything went well with the aural (I think)... and everything went spiffingly with the sight reading.
And then... came the scales. And you can guess what happened... I messed up every single one. Every. Single. One.
After the exam was over, I was panicking about my horrific scales performance. (It was terrible. By listening to me play, it sounded like I didn't know them). The strange thing is, I KNOW my scales, but when the time came to show them off I just 'forgot' all of them. Ugh. I guess I don't really KNOW them after all.
So... will I get a pass? I hope so... I did my grade 4 piano and got a distinction... But I really do hate playing the scales on the flute with a passion.
thank you anyway

moreResolved Question: Lessons: classical guitar vs piano?
I must choose between classical guitar lessons versus piano lessons at my liberal arts college where I'll be enrolling in lessons. I plan to learn both eventually, but I must choose one for the semester I'll be entering this Fall!
I know basic (electric) guitar and how to read tabs, but I haven't spent enough time to learn to master composition and improvise. Not only this, but I never had the opportunity to play at home because I wasn't allowed to disrupt anyone. Now, I finally have the chance! Classical guitar is far more rare and my music theory background should hasten my understanding. My main reason for classical guitar is to improve my versatility in guitar in general yet all the while learning classic pieces. Think: Matthew Bellamy of Muse was classically trained, but plays contemporary music!
However, piano seems far more versatile and fulfilling! I know scales and some common chords but I have not so much as employed them (haven't practiced sight-reading pieces). Piano, I feel, can be self-taught, but I'd really like proper instruction and am up for a challenge. Also, could I specify a type of genre with piano, such as jazz piano (and others? what are they?) that I could focus on?
What I look for most is an instrument I can learn more quickly so that I can begin improvising and transposing music of songs I know/composing my own.
I understand the concepts of Music Theory fully- I have taken an AP Music Theory course. Be mindful that these lessons are weekly lessons (or more? not sure...) over the course of a college semester.
Thank you!
moreVoting Question: I Need Help, Parents Won't Give Me Any?
I get into these depressions every so often - my mom says its normal because I'm a teenager. But I know its not normal. I get angry beyond the point of rage, I just boil over and want to smash the whole house to pieces. My mom is very strict and rarely lets me go out with friends. She had me get a part-time job as soon as I started high school which makes me unable to do sports or extra curriculars. She makes me feel so depressed; she never praises me for my outstanding grades or good behavior in school or my vow to never drink alchohol or do drugs.
When I get depressed like this, I can only think of one way out. But I am too chicken, I know I will never go as far as suicide. But I think about it sometimes. I don't plan it, I just think about "what if."
I'm scared of who I'm going to be. I don't want to be like her, but frequently I'll hear myself say something and I swear it came out of her mouth. I look like her, I think the same way she does and I DON"T WANT TO. I don't want to be like her. I want to be different and I just feel this cycle coming around. I'm going to be exactly like her and I can't help it.
The boy I've been in love with for the past two years of my life has never looked at me as more than friends. I've gone out with other people, but I always ruin those relationships because I'm in love with someone else. I get depressed because I know I'll never feel the same way about anyone else. I'm going to be alone for the rest of my life, I can see it.
I've got talents, but none that allow me to express the person I really want to be. I have a wide variety of enjoyments, acting, piano, art, but I'm mediocre at all of them. Nothing makes me stand out. I'm plain jane.
When I begin to feel like this, I always ask my mom for a doctor. I need one, I think. These worthless feelings are not normal. They just aren't. Whenever I tell her I need help, she brushes it off because she thinks its all hormones. Its not. Its NOT. I don't want to go to a counselor at school because I'll ruin my reputation of being a normal person --- I don't want to look like someone fragil. I want to be strong but I can't do it on my own and I have NOBODY to turn to because I don't want to look physco. I can't drive myself to appointments because my mom refuses to teach me how to drive.
I need help. Please.
moreResolved Question: Classical pieces for a piano player who has been on a one year hiatus?
I took lessons for seven years, but I quit a little over a year ago due to massive amounts of schoolwork/exams. My last program was a Chopin impromptu, a Bach fuga, and a Beethoven sonata (Op 31, no.2) Could you recommend me a few pieces to learn this summer? I won't have a teacher, but I would still like some relatively challenging pieces. Right now, I have two books of Beethoven sonatas (volumes I and II), a Chopin book of waltzes, a Chopin book of noctures, and Chopin impromptus, and the Bach Well-tempered clavier book 1. I also have a book of Debussy.
If you can, please include youtube links to any song recommendations. Thanks.mj - Thanks but that wasn't my question.

moreResolved Question: what do you think of the prolouge for my book?
I’m not normal.
I guess I knew this before anyone had to tell me, but I was really hoping that it was just a phase. Something that can be grown out of. Something that can change. Unfortunately, you can’t change who you are. You can’t change your parentage, or who your family is.
Up until recently, I was in a foster house, with six brothers and sisters, all younger than I am. Anna is eight. Thesia and her twin brother, Steven, are both seven. Cecilia is ten. Beth is eleven, and little Nicholas is only three months. I’m thirteen, going on fourteen.
They’re all special. Special gifts, special talents. Anna can read faster than anyone I’ve ever met in my life, which I guess isn’t saying much. She can mow through most books in under a day. And I’m not talking about books like Sarah and the Puppets. I’m talking about books like War and Peace, and The Odyssey.
Thesia and Steven are both incredible piano players. If you let them listen to any piece of music, they can play it back, almost perfectly. They’ve been musicians since they were five, when they got their first keyboard. They loved music, and sound, even before they could talk. If they could reach it, they would bang it, hit it, drum it, and sometimes even throw it; they’d do anything to make a sound.
Cecilia is not your ordinary ten-year-old. I guarantee she is better than any artist you can think of. She paints, sketches, and if we have enough money for clay, she even sculpts. She can paint practically anything she can think of, and if she’s feeling “artsy”, she’ll even make something up to draw.
Now, Beth. Beth is probably the one with the greatest talent out of all of us…Well, all of them. She has the gift of wisdom. Knowledge. She’s currently taking college-level calculus and some kind of freakish-high school science, whatever that is. All I know is, she’s a hell of a lot smarter than me.
Little Nicky is a little young for Katie, our foster mom, to distinguish what his special talents will be. But brace yourself, she sees “loads of potential” from him. She feels he will “go on to do great things”, “succeed in life”, yada, yada. Don’t get me wrong, Nicky is definitely my favorite, out of everyone here. At least he can’t speak. Whenever I talk to someone else, they try to show me up. One of those, I can do something you can’t do, so shut up, kind of ordeals. But I will show them up, one day.
Maybe.
do you like it? (:i forgot a part of it! hahha
this is after the maybe-
See, I’m not “special” in the ways the other kids are. I’m not smarter than I should be, I’m not some kind of mastermind piano player, or beautiful artist. I’m not going to “grow up to do great things”.
Well, that’s what I thought, anyways.
moreResolved Question: Is the word "pianist" applicable to anyone who can play the piano?
I've been struggling with the meaning of "pianist" for a while now. Like, if you can play ONLY one piece, does that make you a pianist? Or if you only play accompaniments in parties or bands, does that make you a pianist? Or if you make your own instrumentals out of others' melody, like what most people playing by ear do, does that make you a pianist?
Well, the "if you can play only one piece, does that make you a pianist?" part is the only if-then statement I can't put to an affirmative state.

moreResolved Question: I'm trying to compose an orchestral piece, but my midi playback is absolutely terrible...?
I've written parts of an orchestral piece, but whenever I try to replicate what it would sound like (so I can see if all the parts fit properly), I have to use a midi file. This is terrible; the electronic sounds it produces are no substitute for the actual instruments (sounds rather like an ensemble of various-pitched accordions). The best I can do is to play parts on my viola or piano, but I can only play them one at a time, and neither come close to sounding like woodwind or brass. And since I don't have sophisticated music notation software, the playback is quite horrendous. Is there anything I can do about this, or will I just have to rely upon my quite non-existent inner ear?
Thanks in advance :)
moreResolved Question: Need suggestions for somber yet beautiful piano music.?
I love the Moonlight Sonata and stuff from The Hours soundtrack. Sad, somber piano music that is just unimaginably beautiful! There is lots of it, so I was hoping some or one of you could suggest individual pieces that are this way. I don't know if you watch Persons Unknown on NBC, but the character Moira on the show was playing a piece and I just loved it. It sounded familiar and if you can name that tune for me you'll get Best instantly. But please I really love piano music like that and I want to have more to listen to.
Putting Moonlight Sonata into Pandora isn't working for me.I just used SoundHound on the episode online and found out it is Pathétique Sonata: Adagio by Beethoven. It's absolutely wonderful.Your suggestion is very upbeat and fast... I don't think you understand what I'm looking for. Moonlight Sonata. Slow. somber. sad.
moreResolved Question: What's the name of that piano song?
Its like a virtuoso piece. it starts with A g# g g# A , then C, i really don't know whats the name of its. It sounds fast..I heard it today on the Simpson's episode, "How the Test Was Won", Season 20, when Principal Skinner, was running around on top of a shipment container where it had pianos falling down and one of them fall down into a musically gifted orphan's house and they were happy. Shortly after their excitement, the children were playing a classical piano piece, which virtuosos play. I absolutely don't know the name of that music, but it's so beautiful that I want to know the name of it..Please tell me, I've been trying to find that out for more than 5 years..
