There are numerous amounts of video's on YouTube providing evidence/theories from experts. I have devised a new way of playing chess with numbers. The pieces for each player would be like checkers but with numbers 1 to 16 on top. Since these values will change during the game, they should be written on the pieces in an easily changed way.
Players alternately place the even numbers on the back rank in any order. Then they place the odd numbers, again alternately, on the rank in front. This placing of the pieces could be as important as the play. I think that the fact white has to declare positions before black may, to some extent, nullify the advantage of first move. When play starts the odd numbers move as bishops along the diagonals. The even numbers move as rooks along ranks and files.
When pieces are captured they are not only removed from the board but the value of the capturing piece is increased by 1. This means that if an odd number makes a capture it changes to an even number so its future moves will be like a rook. Similarly, an even numbered piece making a capture has its value increased by 1 and so its future moves will be like a bishop.
The game ends with a win for the player with the last piece on the board, although I think that this is an unlikely outcome. The other way a game would end is if both players had made the same specified number of consecutive moves, say 5, without a capture. Then the player with the higher total is the winner. A draw is possible but I think much less likely than in the conventional game.
Of course, this could be played on smaller or larger boards. The smallest possible would be 4 by 4 with no spaces between the players pieces so the first move must be a capture. I think that even this size board has scope for interesting play.
I wonder whether this game would involve the same depth of tactics and skill as the conventional game. i wrote this metaphor poem about my family for a school project,
its a first draft and i want to know how i can improve it.
i compared my family to the game of chess.

I've been datin' this guy for 1 year. We both are in our 30s. He used to date his current female boss but he "ended up" the relationship. He says she keeps callin' him and askin' him out but he says that he can't stop it 'cause he's afraid of losing his job. This situation has been like this for more than 2 years. What is very sad is the fact that he keeps goin' out for lunch with her, answers her calls, and even call her back (and I don't know what else!...). He says he's not interested in her but I find this situation very uncomfortable for me 'cause I interpret as, either:
1 he doesn't love me,
2 he is a very bad person 'cause he's using her and he's using me,
3 he likes being harrased, have ladies after him
or 4 he has no guts. He doesn't want to look for another job or get a degree, all he cares about is playing chess and video games.
Any and all of them sound horrible for me. I don't know how much lack of respect I can keep toleratin'.
I think that this is not a good man and that I should end this relationship. What do you think???!!!

Me and my brother were playing it yesterday and it was the final, after playing two long games. It came to a stage where his Knight was able to attack my King piece, but I did not move my King away from that particular spot, because as far as I understand you are meant to say 'Check'. So he didn't say it and I moved a different piece, he hit my King and said I win, and we had a long debate about it, and I said he was wrong. So who was right?Thanks people, I just wanted to clarify that 'Check' is a commonly known phrase in Chess referring to the King being in danger. However, through researching, I've came to understand that it is more professional and better to not say Check as it hints a threat therefor the person can avoid the attack which you don't want. i'm 21 and studying pre-med in college and i'm noticing that i seem to be "slow" compared to other people. in labs, i would always not know what i am doing and have to ask the TA tons of questions and i'd usually be the last one finished. i always thought this was simply because i usually didn't pay attention in lecture or read the procedure before the lab, but there are probably plenty of people who do the same thing, but they manage to do well in lab. also, i realize that i always find it very difficult to pay attention in lectures unless i am interested in what is being talked about. this is probably a big part of the reason i don't do as well in exams.
and when i really think about it, it is not just academics. i find that my social skills are lacking because i can never think of what to say to open a conversation with someone. and i often seem to end up saying stupid things simply because it slipped my mind. i also notice that i am often the last person to get a joke. and i have never been fast in math and i have always lost at games like chess.
what is wrong with me? am i just of lower intelligence? i took an online iq test once(a legit one) and i scored above average. someone said when i asked a question like this that i might have ADD. i looked a the symptoms of ADD and it does sound a lot like me. is having ADD different from someone who is just of low intelligence? if so, how?
also, is it common for someone with ADD to excel at a field like medicine? is it possible?
