Open Question: Where can I buy or how can I make a photography backdrop that looks like a wall with crown molding?

Resolved Question: Photographers, resolution settings.?

I am just curious as to what you have your resolution settings set on your camera? I have mine on Large, but another photographer told me it is a waste because I won't be nor will my clients be using all the pixels. But what if they wanted to print a rather large portrait, wouldn't it only turn out great quality with the larger amount of pixels? So I am confused, I do portraits of families, egagements, seniors newborns and more. I also heard that The number of pixels recorded and stored for each image can have an enormous impact on camera performance and resources. Can some one explain this. I've just started my photography buisness. Apparently my brother-in-law has been making a webiste and building his portfolio as well and is launching next summer. I offered to shoot their wedding a while ago. They declined and hired someone. BUT - they said I could still shoot it and use the pics on my portfolio. Well, now that their wedding is over... I had posted 7 pictures to add to my portfolio, nothing huge and half of them we're flowers and such and these are my first wedding pictures - they drop by and said that they wanted the facebook pictures to stay up but the one's on my website can't. And that since I didn't get them to sign one of my "Model Releases" I can't put them up anyway. I said okay, want to to sign one for me? They said they couldn't due to "Conflict of Interest' .... .... ... I do alot of family/newborn and was just trying to get my foot in the door with weddings. I feel like everything was understood I'd put them up respectively and that it would be fine. I have had rave-reviews from people seeing the pics and now I have to take them off, never to be seen again... unforuntaley I suppse my feelings are hurt more than anything... what's you're take on this type of situation? My bad? I am by nature very passive and do not hold grudges. I would of course let him shoot our wedding next year and use the pictures without a second thought, I guess I'm wondering why the favour wasn't even thought? and why I ended up seeming like the bad guy? more

I have an (amazing) photographer friend that specializes in maternity and newborn photos. I am 30 years old, 31 weeks pregnant. She basically forced me into letting her do my pictures (I'm not a picture girl) and will be taking them tomorrow - she just flew into town for the week to visit other friends as well as me, she will be staying at my place tomorrow night. I asked her how much she would charge me and she said that I can take her out to dinner afterwards. This is great because I am going to be a single mom and am on a realllllllllly tight budget right now (which is why I originally kept declining her offer to do the pictures, thinking she might charge me). Voting Question: Like I just got home from the hospital and my mother in law and mother are disagreeing about the baby whose rt?

It was so totally awesome. On my exact due date the contractions started and like she was coming out as I entered the hospital lol lol. Also the sad news is that I insisted on going to the airport to kiss my husband goodby for the next 14 to 15 months until he returns from deployment and we can Finally!! be together as a family. We will live on or near his base after he returns from deplpyment. I realized that it would be better to live at home rather than being with him in a strange place for just maybe two months with a newborn. So that's why I'm not going with him. Like the contractions got started just after i returned home from the airport. Luckily my dad was driving and not me. I sent him some pics on my cell phone plus I paid for a professional photographer to take pics at the airport and plan to send him a large one in a display frame to keep at his bedside. Later I plan to dress my cutie in a nice outfit and take some more professional ones to send to him. She is sooo totally cute. Right now they are arguing over a few things even though they are good friends and I hope they reallyu don't get angry at each other but just keep their differences "professional". I'm worried that they baby might not be getting enough nourishment so everytime she crys or even looks like crying I pick her up and offer her my breast. How do I encourage her to take more nourishment from my breast. Plus who should have a bigger say, my mother or my mother in law. Like both are experienced mothers with two kids apiece (I'm counting myself and my husband). My mom is more strict than my mother in law who is more laid back. more

i need to know the name of this book i read, that i had borrowed, but forgot the name and author. it was about a teenage girl, she falls for this guy, whos sister was supposedly raped, and in turn killed the photographer, but in reality, she wasnt raped, and she was in prison. he lies to the girl (main character) and pursuades her to help kidnap the mayor/govenors wife. she is pregnant/gives birth while under control, and the lady (main character) keeps her for herself (the newborn) and then it tells her life and future marriage with a different man, and then the news and and goverment find the remains of the body, and trace it back to her, and the mayor/govenor, finally meets his daughter he never met, from his wife that was kidnapped and died. it was a phanomonal read, thank you. more

I am a photographer. I did a friends newborn shoot last year, for free of charge. I used my equipment, my camera, I edited them, and they have my label on them. Her and I recently stopped being friends, and I had her maternity and her daughters pictures up on my site. She asked me to take them down, and I did. Now, back before my wedding, I could not afford a photographer and asked her to take my husband and I's pictures while she was up with us in the canyon. Now these are not professional, and she used my camera. I went home, edited them and used them as my engagements. Now, she posted my husband and I's pictures on her site, with my editing and all. I don't mind, what ever, but I am building my portfolio and posting it on my site. Her and her daughters photos are part of my portfolio. If they have my copyright, can I post them even though she asked me to take them down? I know this sounds foolish and immature, but it is genuinely for my portfolio, when she asked me to take them down, they were just on my face book. Now, back before my wedding, I could not afford a photographer and asked her to take my husband and I's pictures while she was up with us in the canyon. Now these are not professional, and she used my camera. I went home, edited them and used them as my engagements. Now, she posted my husband and I's pictures on her site, with my editing and all. I don't mind, what ever, but I am building my portfolio and posting it on my site. Her and her daughters photos are part of my portfolio. If they have my copyright, can I post them even though she asked me to take them down? I know this sounds foolish and immature, but it is genuinely for my portfolio, when she asked me to take them down, they were just on my face book. My partner and i have set our wedding date for October 2010. We have paid most deposits reception, church, cars, celebrate and photographer etc. During the course of planning the wedding, i have fallen pregnant and the baby would be due late July. Most people are saying a wedding and a newborn would be too stressful and i should postpone it until the baby is about 6 months old. Bringing it forward is not an option as venues are booked solidly. Okay, so I'm trying to help the hubby with his Christmas shopping. And I'm not sure exactly what I need... Basically, I'm a fairly new pro-am photographer (about a year and a half DSLR experience). I have a SONY alpha series. I have the kit lens and a 75-300mm 4.5-5.6 lens. I want a lens that is more ideal for portraits (especially, but not limited to, newborns). I am a young photographer that is definitely not a professional, but I have second shot and assisted a professional before; once at a wedding, twice at a family shoot, a newborn shoot, a big commercial shoot, and i have edited (in photoshop CS4)/collaged/albumed for her. Resolved Question: What would you do if your dog drove you nuts like this?

My dog drives me nuts. She is 3 yrs old and refuses to go to the bathroom in the back yard, she MUST be on a leash to go to the bathroom. This means even though I have a yard I find myself picking up dog crap in public twice a day. If I don't take her out to go to the bathroom and she needs to go she will sneak up my stairs and pee in the hallway while I'm not paying attention. I can't lock her in the yard because she has excellent fence jumping skills. She's also a biter. Since I got pregnant she has bitten 5 people on the back of the leg. Anyone who comes into my home is her potential victim which means I can't have guest over without locking her in her crate and hearing her bark forever, this really sucks because I am a photographer and work from home. I have clients coming and going ALL THE TIME. Plus I am afraid if she bites someone they will sue us. This hasn't happened yet because they all have said "oh, it didn't break the skin, I'll let it slide" little do they know, they aren't her first victim. Oh, back to her only going to the bathroom on a leash while on a walk, I have a husband and daughter perfectly capable of taking her out to pee and she'll gladly go with them, but she will not go to the bathroom unless I am walking her. This really sucks since I'm pregnant, exhausted, and will soon have the pleasure of toting a newborn around with me while I walk her and pick up her crap. I want to rehome her but feel bad about it. I have litterally tried training her in every which way I can think of, and I've researched different techniques online, nothing has worked. My theory is that she was abused before coming to us and that is why she feels the need to sneak when she pees. I think her previous owners lived in an apartment and only took her for potty breaks while on the leash and beat her if she did it in the house.Thanks for all the advice, she actually was desensitized to visitors until I became pregnant, now she barks and bites whenever the chance presents itself. I assume she's trying to protect me. The biting is not provoked, I tell all guests to leave her alone yet she will bite them as soon as they turn their backs, litterally. As for affection, we're still very affectionate, she cuddles with me for most of the day. I wish it were possible to just hire a dog trainer but believe it or not I have yet to find one in our area (we live 1 1/2 hours from a city in a very small town) thanks for the support and advice. more

A good friend of mine had a baby today and she'd like me to come take pictures of the baby in the hospital tomorrow. I'm by no means a professional photographer but I know a little bit. I actually did a maternity shoot for her while she was still pregnant. Now obviously, studio lighting and lots of equipment are going to be a problem in an ultra-secure maternity ward, but I'd still like to get some nice artsy shots of the baby. Any advice on how to achieve this? I'm really concerned with the whole lighting situation. Her room only has one big picture window and the lights in the room are obviously fluorescent and unflattering, so how should I deal with this? Should I just up the ISO and worry about noise in post-processing or should I try to work with what little light there is? If so, how? Any posing ideas? I am an amature photographer that is just getting started. I have had a returning client from last year come to me recently asking me to do portraits of her family, with a new family member: A baby. She is due in august and wants pictures shortly after the baby is born. I have never done baby shots, let alone a newborn, but I have to sometime. So, any baby portrait tips for me? Poses?
