i need to know the name of this book i read, that i had borrowed, but forgot the name and author. it was about a teenage girl, she falls for this guy, whos sister was supposedly raped, and in turn killed the photographer, but in reality, she wasnt raped, and she was in prison. he lies to the girl (main character) and pursuades her to help kidnap the mayor/govenors wife. she is pregnant/gives birth while under control, and the lady (main character) keeps her for herself (the newborn) and then it tells her life and future marriage with a different man, and then the news and and goverment find the remains of the body, and trace it back to her, and the mayor/govenor, finally meets his daughter he never met, from his wife that was kidnapped and died. it was a phanomonal read, thank you. more

I am a photographer. I did a friends newborn shoot last year, for free of charge. I used my equipment, my camera, I edited them, and they have my label on them. Her and I recently stopped being friends, and I had her maternity and her daughters pictures up on my site. She asked me to take them down, and I did. Now, back before my wedding, I could not afford a photographer and asked her to take my husband and I's pictures while she was up with us in the canyon. Now these are not professional, and she used my camera. I went home, edited them and used them as my engagements. Now, she posted my husband and I's pictures on her site, with my editing and all. I don't mind, what ever, but I am building my portfolio and posting it on my site. Her and her daughters photos are part of my portfolio. If they have my copyright, can I post them even though she asked me to take them down? I know this sounds foolish and immature, but it is genuinely for my portfolio, when she asked me to take them down, they were just on my face book. My partner and i have set our wedding date for October 2010. We have paid most deposits reception, church, cars, celebrate and photographer etc. During the course of planning the wedding, i have fallen pregnant and the baby would be due late July. Most people are saying a wedding and a newborn would be too stressful and i should postpone it until the baby is about 6 months old. Bringing it forward is not an option as venues are booked solidly. I also don't want to loose money on deposits already paid. What are your thoughts? Anyone had this experience? more

Okay, so I'm trying to help the hubby with his Christmas shopping. And I'm not sure exactly what I need... Basically, I'm a fairly new pro-am photographer (about a year and a half DSLR experience). I have a SONY alpha series. I have the kit lens and a 75-300mm 4.5-5.6 lens. I want a lens that is more ideal for portraits (especially, but not limited to, newborns). I am a young photographer that is definitely not a professional, but I have second shot and assisted a professional before; once at a wedding, twice at a family shoot, a newborn shoot, a big commercial shoot, and i have edited (in photoshop CS4)/collaged/albumed for her. Resolved Question: What would you do if your dog drove you nuts like this?

My dog drives me nuts. She is 3 yrs old and refuses to go to the bathroom in the back yard, she MUST be on a leash to go to the bathroom. This means even though I have a yard I find myself picking up dog crap in public twice a day. If I don't take her out to go to the bathroom and she needs to go she will sneak up my stairs and pee in the hallway while I'm not paying attention. I can't lock her in the yard because she has excellent fence jumping skills. She's also a biter. Since I got pregnant she has bitten 5 people on the back of the leg. Anyone who comes into my home is her potential victim which means I can't have guest over without locking her in her crate and hearing her bark forever, this really sucks because I am a photographer and work from home. I have clients coming and going ALL THE TIME. Plus I am afraid if she bites someone they will sue us. This hasn't happened yet because they all have said "oh, it didn't break the skin, I'll let it slide" little do they know, they aren't her first victim. Oh, back to her only going to the bathroom on a leash while on a walk, I have a husband and daughter perfectly capable of taking her out to pee and she'll gladly go with them, but she will not go to the bathroom unless I am walking her. This really sucks since I'm pregnant, exhausted, and will soon have the pleasure of toting a newborn around with me while I walk her and pick up her crap. I want to rehome her but feel bad about it. I have litterally tried training her in every which way I can think of, and I've researched different techniques online, nothing has worked. My theory is that she was abused before coming to us and that is why she feels the need to sneak when she pees. I think her previous owners lived in an apartment and only took her for potty breaks while on the leash and beat her if she did it in the house.Thanks for all the advice, she actually was desensitized to visitors until I became pregnant, now she barks and bites whenever the chance presents itself. I assume she's trying to protect me. The biting is not provoked, I tell all guests to leave her alone yet she will bite them as soon as they turn their backs, litterally. As for affection, we're still very affectionate, she cuddles with me for most of the day. I wish it were possible to just hire a dog trainer but believe it or not I have yet to find one in our area (we live 1 1/2 hours from a city in a very small town) thanks for the support and advice. more

A good friend of mine had a baby today and she'd like me to come take pictures of the baby in the hospital tomorrow. I'm by no means a professional photographer but I know a little bit. I actually did a maternity shoot for her while she was still pregnant. Now obviously, studio lighting and lots of equipment are going to be a problem in an ultra-secure maternity ward, but I'd still like to get some nice artsy shots of the baby. Any advice on how to achieve this? I'm really concerned with the whole lighting situation. Her room only has one big picture window and the lights in the room are obviously fluorescent and unflattering, so how should I deal with this? Should I just up the ISO and worry about noise in post-processing or should I try to work with what little light there is? If so, how? Any posing ideas? I am an amature photographer that is just getting started. I have had a returning client from last year come to me recently asking me to do portraits of her family, with a new family member: A baby. She is due in august and wants pictures shortly after the baby is born. I have never done baby shots, let alone a newborn, but I have to sometime. So, any baby portrait tips for me? Poses? A few weeks ago, 5 close friends and I went on a fishing trip in Canada. We are all in our late 20's and due to our hectic schedules and different locations, we don't get to see each other all that often. So this is our trip to sort of break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life back home in the States. So we finally got to our remote camp in the middle of the Canadian wilderness and of course, tipped back on some booze and beer around the campfire. We were all kind of horsing around and just having a good time, when all of the sudden my best friend (we'll say his name is John) decides to tackle me from behind as a joke. By doing so, I fell to the ground and his body fell on my leg and broke it. It was horrible. I screamed bloody murder as they eventually carried me into the cabin and laid me down on a cot. The next morning I woke up in intense pain as John was looking at my leg. He said we needed to get to a hospital asap. So he drove me to the nearest hospital, which was 2 hours away. The took xrays and confirmed that my fibula was in fact split above my ankle and that I had severe sprains to the other side of the ankle. They told me that I should get back to the states as soon as I could to see a specialist. So they rigged me up with a temporary splint and some pain pills to hold me over for a few days. I didn't want to cancel the trip for the rest of the crew though, so I toughed it out at camp with the guys for the remaining 7 days of the vacation.. The cost for that brief hospital visit here was $560.00. John put it on his credit card because I didn't have any money on me at the moment. It was one of those do or die situations anyway. A few days later, he told me that he would give me 10 months to pay him back for that $560.00 bill. I didn't think anything of it at the time because the whole situation was sort of a blur and an accident.. So I agreed. As the week went on though, I realized that the trip would soon be over and reality would sink back in for everyone when all got back home. The way it always does.. Except for me, my reality was dealing with my leg when I got back home. Everyone else would go back to their normal every day life. The 15 hour ride back to states was incredibly painful though as I was stuck in an awkward position in the back seat. The nearest place I could get medical attention was in Wisconsin, which is where my mother lives. The 5 guys dropped me off there and all went back down to Chicago, where they live. I actually live in Tennessee. So I decided it would best to stay with her Wisconsin so she could drive me to and from the hospital, as it was my right leg that was broken and I was unable to drive. So we got to the hospital the next day and the Orthopedic doctor examined my leg and immediately scheduled me for an open reduction surgery. There was no question about it. It was much worse than we thought with severe ligament damage as well. Here's the real kicker. I am a single aspiring photographer and at the moment, I don't have health insurance. So as soon as I heard that I needed surgery, I told John that he had to pay for that $560.00 bill in Canada. Jokingly over email I said "You are paying for that, I don't care what you say hahaha".. He got a little upset with me for being so direct, but he agreed to pay for that bill. Oh yeah, John is married with a newborn and makes $70k/year. Over the course of the week, I sent him a few emails that stated how much misery I was in and how screwed I am because of all this.. That I have to move back to Wisconsin for 3 months, go through surgery, find out how to pay for it, etc..etc..I think at one point I even compared it to a car accident. That drunk or sober, he was still responsible for it.. Which is in fact true if you think about it.. Simple cause and effect. Cause he was drunk and tackled me, my leg broke and I am in this horrible situation.. Much of it was somewhat joking, but he is a close friend and I thought he would understand my misery.. Instead, John got really frustrated with me and told me to stop making him feel so guilty for this.. Anyway, I went through with the surgery two weeks ago. It was the worst experience ever. My leg was cut wide open to insert a metal plate and 7 screws into my fibula.. I am unable to walk until August (2-3 months). Here is the worst part of all.. My medical bills arrived and have totaled $13,000.00.. All of which I do NOT have. Hell I don't even have $100 in my checking account after the vacation. My work market (photography) is down in Nashville and I am stuck in Wisconsin, where there are no musicians to take photos of! So I am unable to work for the entire summer, unable to walk for the entire summer and I am stiffed with $13,000 in medical bills. John has completely avoided contacting me after he heard how much the medical bills were. He is solely responsible for this, but there is no way I am going to sue my best friend. I would think he would havIn response to "Wickedd". Yes I agree, I should have had insurance. But due to the tight economy (I know, I hate to use that as an excuse), but I have had no luck landing a full time gig with benefits. I'm super talented with a stacked resume, but no one seems to be biting at the moment. I had an agent/headhunter that I was working with and we were getting near to closing in on a deal before I left.. But I had to tell them the bad news when I got back that I could not do anything full time until August. It was just incredibly bad timing for this to happen to me.. Resolved Question: Never received hospital Newborn baby photos. Now 10 years later, is it too late to get them?

In 1998 -My hospital room mate and I NEVER received our precious photos of our newborns. In fact, we never even saw them! We were told the person who takes the photos came into our room, and we were sleeping. We were so disappointed, but being all doped up, and so happy to have the babies, we just over looked it. But now I regret not following up. 2 questions: 1. It common for hospital photographers to overlook patients who are sleeping? 2. HOW can I possibly get those photos. Or at least one? Is one attached to my patient file which may still be available? I often wish I had that photo. It was her very first. My baby was born in NY Methodist Hospital, if that helps. ok here goes... This lady is F***ING crazy! I think so anyways. She has 10 children. She doesnt take care of any of them, she pawns them off on her husband. She doesnt attend any of their school events. She has 10 kids by 6 dads(maybe). She has lied to each one of them and said their dad is someone else, and when its covienent for her she will tell them the truth. I am very close to all her kids and they have all expressed a hatred for their mom. I think they have lots of mental issues and have had a pretty dang sad life. She tells her daughters they are chunky or picks on them about their developing bodies. Except for her youngest daughter who she will allow to make rude comments and behave out of control. And the boys can do no wrong. They are totally out of control. She is a horrible excuse for a parent. Not only that shes done alot of other shady thing, like she lied to the college shes attending and said she compleeted high school, and has been taking classes online in order to avoid direct contact with people at the school. shes been doing it for almost 2 years and they just now caught her. A few years ago she made up a FAKE baby, to try and get back with one of her ex's. She was a photographer at a local walmart, and she would steal pics of newborn babies, and send them to her ex(he lived in another state). And then when her ex was starting to suspect that she was lying, she said that the baby died in a car wreck with her husband, and even went as far as to clip out a news paper article about a infant who died in a car accident to her EX. Thats not the end of it shes done soo many F***ed up things to mention. But you get the idea shes fucked in her head. Yet she has managed to get a foster care liscence, She doesnt even take care of the ones she has. Her husband is a sheriff in town and no one here likes her. and they can tell something is "off" about her. I just dont understand how shes getting away with this,shes never been in trouble with the law, no one ever confronts her. Just recently shes been approved to have IVF. to have another baby. But shes already had her tubes tie, and the insureance wasnt supposed to pay for it but of course she lied and said she didnt have a tubal ligation or whatever. We recently got some pics taken of our newborn and I would really love to get the rights to all my pics. there is about 50 pics up and the photographer offers a digital package with copyright release for $475 which is a lot cheaper than purchasing all of the pictures individually with her! What i am worried about is the quality of the image on the disk that i will receive if i choose to purchase this and print them on my own! I have found a website that prints for professionals, has anyone ever done this? I would like to hear from someone with experience or a photographer before I make a decision! Resolved Question: has anyone purchased their pictures on cd with olan mills? If so, what were the benefits and cost?

I an thinking of purchasing my portraits on cd and having the larger prints ordered through Sam's ( I have a current order on hold ). Also, I am hoping to have my previous session added to cd for purchase, if it isn't too pricey. Do you have any experience with Olan Mills practices with their services. I do have a Super Saver, but so far the 1.99 special online special after buying the first 8 for 7.99 looks like the better deal. However, I am wondering if the cd would meet my needs better, especially for enlargements of reorders of the prior Visit. Although, I have had some outstanding photos previously done of my newborn daughter, I am beginning to have service issues, that is why I am thinking of purchasing the right to my photos to avoid the hassle of reordering and picking up with them. My original experience with Olan Mills and the photographer was great. I am hoping to be made comfortable to carry on with our original photographer. Resolved Question: Newborn photography provided by hospital?

The hospital I'm giving birth at has outside photographers come in to take pictures of the baby if you'd like them to. I'm not sure how much it costs, I'll ask next month when I pre-register at the hospital, but what I'm wondering is did any of you use this service if it was provided by your hospital? Was it expensive? Did the pictures come out good? [newborn babies aren't exactly known for their great looks, LOL] Also, is this the picture you used for your birth announcements? I'm debating just waiting a week or so and going to Wal-Mart or Sears and doing portraits there for the birth announcements. more

I'm working on starting up a photography business. I will be shooting: Portraits of Individuals Engagement Portraits Bridal Portraits Weddings (Documentary Style. I would be secondary photographer for the wedding, providing a documentary style of the big day! I'll photograph all those special moments that are usually missed because the main photographer is busy with the wedding party.) Pregnancy Portraits Babies (Newborns, Infants, Toddlers) Children Seniors Animals Families Family Outings (This is where I follow people on their picnics, vacations to my area (I live in a tourist area), trips to places like the zoo, etc.) Events (Anniversaries, Birthdays, etc.) My question is...... How much should I charge for my services? I am wanting to be affordable. A lot of photographers charge a lot of money and all the clients get is a couple of prints and maybe an album. I plan to give my clients a dvd with the images on it. I'll give them a letter that says they can print them any size, any quantity. Once they have had a chance to look through the photos, they can let me know which are their favorites and I will then do basic editing to touch these up as needed. What should I charge for this service? Should I charge for mileage to get to the location? Should I charge an hourly fee so that it is affordable? Help!!I should add that I do not work in a studio. I love the journalistic look..all three are pretty close in price, so I was just wondering what everyone else thought about the quality of the photography shown on the websites and which one they would go with. Resolved Question: Any ideas for newborn pictures?

I'm getting my daughter's pictures done at JC Penny's on Saturday and I have no idea of any cute positions to put her in. She is a month old. I'm sure the photographer will have ideas and pics for me to look at being they do them all the time but I was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas or pics of their kids that they would share to give me some ideas.
