Welcome to Digital Wedding Photos Questions and Answers
Open Question: Please can you give me ideas for photographic wedding invitations?
I'm a photographer and considering creating 'postcard' invites because I want it to be something I make and I think these will be handy for guests to stick to the fridge etc.
The question is what do I photograph? I thought about something simple like 'Wedding Invitation' written in sand on the beach before a sunset ooor something like that but it CANNOT be cheesy :P I don't do cheesy and I am wondering if that would be a bit cheesy.
I don't want a picture of us on the front because I like to stay behind the camera
I dont want JUST a landscape photo
I do have the ability to add text/graphics and I'm pretty handy with all forms of digital editing
I am VERY open to novel/clever ideas
I am also open to ideas that are created entirely on the computer it doesn' HAVE to be a photo/
Thank you in advance but please no cheesy ideas!

moreResolved Question: First Wedding Photo Shoot?
A family friend is getting married in a few days and their photographer canceled on them at the last minute. I am an amateur photographer, I have done some high school football games and family photo shoots. But I have never done something as big as a wedding, and I will be the only photographer so I am very nervous. I know that I take great shots, the couple has seen them and I get compliments on them all the time. The wedding and reception are both indoors, I imagine the lighting will be less than perfect. I was just looking for some tips on how to help these photos look extra special for them, or any specific settings or tips that would help at all. I appreciate all advice.
I have a Nikon D60 with a 18-55 lens and a 55-200 lens, I plan on bringing both of them as well as my stand. One problem is That I only have the flash within the camera since my other flash broke, and I am tight for money at the moment and am not going to bring my umbrella lighting because that would be silly so there is no option for buying a new flash.
PLEASE; no statements on how i shouldn't do this because i am amateur and this is a very important day for them, YES I realize this and they have called around for a new pro but I am their only option aside from others just using basic digital cameras or no photos at all.
Thank you.I am not going to ruin their day, I never said that I was some sort of professional photographer nor did I make myself appear as one. I do live in a relatively small town so no there are not a lot of photographers so no they could not have found someone else. I do family photos with just my little nikon D60 as well and i'm a firm believer that it is the photographer, not his/her equipment that makes a photo well off or a total disaster. So don't talk down to me and call me pathetic just because I am not some better than thou yahooanswers critique who has nothing better to do than to shove hurtful comments on anyone trying to get into the world of photography, I have read what you answered for other people and I think you are an a**. Degrading people just because they are new to photography and are curious what people think of their work? Really? Thats so mature. And I am no professional considering the fact that I am only 20; Photography just happens to be something I enjoy and that I am relatively good at. So they asked me to help them out in a tough situation. But I doubt you would know much about that because you aren't a nice person. And I have looked at your flickr page, and your photos aren't that great. I have taken much better with my so called "inadequate" Nikon D60.
moreResolved Question: Finepix z20fd internal memory pictures..?
I've taken a few pictures of my sister's wedding on my Fujifilm Finepix z20fd digital camera, but sadly i forgot my memory card and they had to be stored on the internal memory. I know how to transfer them to the memory card, but when I have my memory card inserted inside the camera, it only shows me the photos on the memory card, and I don't know how to switch to look at the internal memory pictures so that I can copy them.
Does anybody know how to look at the internal memory pictures whilst the memory card is inside the camera? Thanks in advance.
moreResolved Question: What is the cheapest way to print 2000 digital photos?
My wedding photographers used digital cameras to shoot the wedding. We have tons of fantastic photos that are high-res digital format. They take a long time to load and I'd rather print 'hard copies' than change the res of the files. I won't print all 2000, but I will print a LOT. What is the cheapest way to print them in this quantity? I'm willing to 'do it myself' (but would likely need a new photo quality printer), have them mailed to me, or go somewhere, but want to be sure to factor in the cost of materials I would need or shipping I would pay per print. Personal positive and negative experiences are also welcome!
moreResolved Question: whats the best free download to get for making DVD of pictures taken on digital camera?
I have 500 photos to try and show at a wedding reception tonight, i have all the photos in one folder and need to know which program to download and use to present them on a slide show either through the DVD driver on my laptop or straight from the hard drive onto a projector screen. which program is easy to use and will allow me to do what i have to? please help
moreResolved Question: If my computer is not compatible with an SDHC card for a digital camera, what can I do?
I recently bought a beautiful and expensive digital camera. I went to my sister-in-laws wedding and did her photography taking well over 1,000 pictures. Currently these are loaded onto my new SDHC card. The problem is that my computer is not compatible with the SDHC card so every time I try to connect my camera (with the SDHC card in it) the connection fails and nothing happens therefore it does not allow me to take the photos from the card and load them to a safe place on my PC. I had bought a Card Reader in hopes that it would fix the issue. As my luck goes the stupid thing is broke. I am at a loss and in a big bind as the bride needs these pictures of which I need to basically photoshop (though that is not the program I have). It had been mentioned that I may be able to "download a driver from my dad's PC onto a flash drive and load that download into my PC" but I lack computer intelligence and have no idea if this will work, cause damage to my internet free computer, or how/if it is possible. I Really have no clue where to start other than buying a regular SD card however that does nothing about the current pictures and I will have wasted $30 on my now useless SDHC card. I realize I can use my boyfriends computer as we have loaded the pictures there but I would love to be able to use my SDHC card on my computer in the future. Please help me and my sister-in-law! Thank you so so so very much if you can.
moreResolved Question: Difference between Nikon D90 and Cannon EOS450D?
I am planning to take a professional DSLR and i searched a lot, because i need best images with best depth, color and everything. I cannot afford a high end camera. finally i found these two and now the problem is this two is same in price. i want to know the difference between these two. Not only the tec specification difference, i need a perfect answer from a PROFESSIONAL Photographer who used both two. Professional means not only wedding photos, but also ad shoot, nature shoot, indoor, outdoor, low light, opposite light.... everything...Also 1 more thing, i seen so many people using Nikon, but only rare in Cannon. Which 1 is highly professional even though both are considering as Pro. Also i need the drawbacks of these cameras if any. (Here in the store i wil get Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera+18-105mm and Canon EOS450D Digital SLR Camera + 18-200mm Lens. But nikon lens is not VR and Cannon is not IS)

I need it for my wedding guest book and obviously do not need massive photos, but i would like reasonable quality and colour when it is printed instantly.
moreResolved Question: What is the best place to order digital prints?
I was asked to take my friend's engagement pictures and she wants prints to hand out before the wedding. I've only taken photography classes my first two years of high school so im definitely not a professional. The last time i ordered prints i used the Walmart photo center, but when i went to pick them up they didnt believe i was the photographer. They asked to see my memory card to prove they were my pictures and not a professional photographer but by then i had deleted the pictures. They reluctantly let me have the prints but said that would be the last time. Is there any other place i could use where this wont be a problem? Im worried i wont be able to print anymore of my own pictures because of "copyright". How can i solve this if these are my own pictures?
moreResolved Question: Which digital / digital slr camera should I buy to take portraits?
I want to have my wedding photos taken with my own camera, so I am wondering which camera I should buy that is really good professional quality with great skin tones and good for indoor lighting. I am tired of my digital camera pictures looking grainy or having yellow tones from the light. I don't know a lot about cameras, but I'm going to learn and take a photography class. I have to already have the camera for the photogaphy class, though. So which one should I buy? Also, I'll be wanting to have some pictures blown up to 8X10 and 11X13, so I need the pics to be able to be clean and sharp up to that size.
I don't want to spend more than $650.
moreResolved Question: Help!!! Pictures got erased...?
I have a Canon Power Shot A540 digital camera. I recently took pictures at my niece's wedding. My husband was looking at the photos, started messing around with the camera and all the images are GONE! When I turn the camera on it just says "No Images". I've heard of digital image recovery software so I would like to know if anyone knows of a good, trustworthy one to use, preferably a free one online but it really doesn't matter at this point - I'll do anything! I have to get these photos back. My niece had a very casual wedding with no professional photographer. She was relying on her guests to take photos and she was going to make a scrapbook out of them. I seemed to be the only one taking the most shots and got some really great poses. I hope someone can help me and give me some good news because I read the manual that came with the camera and it says erased images cannot be recovered. PLEASE HELP!
moreResolved Question: Photography question?
I need a good low light photography book that details step by step instructions on how to take photos in low light or shows images and examples. I consider myself an amateur and have read my manual, understanding exposure, digital photography for dummies, Scott Kelby's Digital Photography Boxed Set, and Photography. I also would like a good wedding photography book as well. Any recommendations?
moreResolved Question: Copy Photos from DVD?
I have three DVDs from my wedding photographer, they are the digital negatives and I have full access to them. The discs are all over 4gigs, and have 850 photos on each one.
I tried to copy them over the the hard drive last night by just right clicking on the DVD drive and pasting to the hard drive; however it only copied half of the first one and then error's out.
Do I need a special ripping software for this?
I need to have them on the hard drive so they load faster and also the whole DVD does not load either. Thanks.
The disc was created in UDF format. Thanks.
moreResolved Question: Converting RAW files? LR or ViewNX?
I'm pretty new to Photography, I'm teaching myself as I go. This question has probably be asked before but I couldn't find it.
My friend let me borrow her two little girls to test out my new Nikon D90. Wow was that a learning experience! :) There was no real expectations it was more just for fun and learning, but I still want to get this whole process right. I'd like to give her some really cute photos.
I have been playing around with Lightroom 2 for a long time. My husbands father took our wedding photos with his professional DSLR and said I could go to town editing them myself. Only problem is I edited them in LR as JPEG's. Big mistake I lost a lot of information... as I would export, delete from LR, then decide I still wasn't happy and upload the ones I exported back in... and on and on. DUMB... The compression over and over kinda stunk. Of course I didn't learn this until I started purchasing and studying digital photography books. The prints still turned out "okay" but not as good as they could have. I'll never use JPEG for anything but emailing or using them online from this point on.
From that lesson, I shot all of my photos in RAW file format + JPEG for preview in LCD purposes only. SO.... my question is, is it better to convert the RAW files in ViewNX to 18-Bit Tiff and then take them into LR? Or take the RAW files right into LR and start processing? I'm looking for other peoples preferences. I've read in some photography forums that converting RAW from LR can create noisier images than converting in the software provided by Nikon such as ViewNX so that's why I was wondering. What are the pro's and con's of each and why do you like to do it the way you do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance :)
moreResolved Question: Need ideas for a unique wedding present...?
for a couple that we haven't know for all that long but have recently become quite friendly with as our children are the same age.
Around AU$100.
They rent their house and aren't really into anything for around the home and have all the regular appliances etc.
My ideas at this point are:
tickets to a show (so they can have a night out without kids!)
a digital photo frame
Any other ideas or do you think either of my ideas would be appropriate?
moreResolved Question: Can you take photos as good as Bella Pictures but charge less?
I'm a bride planning a wedding on a budget but I love Bella Pictures (bellapictures.com), a few friends have used their services and their photos come out amazing but they are a little out of my budget. Their lowest package isn't worth it to me because it comes with nothing but if you are a photographer as good as them and your package includes a wedding album, digital negatives, and some photo editing and At least 8 hours of shooting time and stops at 3 or more locations, please send me your contact info. I would love to see your work and get some pricing.

moreResolved Question: Nikon vs. Fujifilm: Worth The Extra Money?
So I currently have a Fujifilm S5000. And it's like, 6 years old and has been through alot, and is finally starting to crap out. So I figured due to it's age, bounds in technology, and repair costs, it's time for a new one.
I'm an amateur photographer. Not the type that takes a black and white picture of a lawn chair and declares it, but I love photography, genuinely, and have ever since middle school. I was the official photographer for my aunt's wedding, and at family gatherings, but more often then not I just love photographing everything- clouds, my snakes, hawks perched on the fence, odd angles of my plants. Anything that catches my attention. Anything that makes me stop and stare. I also work listing stuff on eBay and having a nice camera is really a good thing for that as well.
And it is for this reason I'm not going to accept a little compact camera. I would like to have photography gigs in the future and I'm certainly not going to get one with a compact. Not to mention, my current has 10x zoom and I definitely take full advantage of it. It's one of the "requirements" I guess.
I've narrowed it down to either the Fujifilm S1800 or the Nikon Coolpix P90.
The S1800 is $230, new.
The P90 would be from eBay, newish, and no more than $275 (they go higher, but that's the most I'd be willing to spend).
They both have a great look. Both take SDHC cards. Both are 12 MP with 3-inch LCD displays. They both have similar, photo-enhancing features, it seems. The main difference is price and zoom.
The S1800 has 18x zoom, while the P90 is 24x.
So do you think the Nikon's feature and higher zoom ability is worth the $50+???
Specs:

If Canon has one with a similar look and roughly 12MP with 15x zoom MINIMUM, and available under $275, I'd consider that as well.
Thanks for the help!!
moreResolved Question: How can I print off my wedding photos?
I know it's a little long but please read through, I need some advice:
I recently got married and was given a digital copy of all of my photos from the professional photographers that were at the wedding. The photos are quite small on my computer so I decided to copy and paste the files onto my hard drive and view them on my TV through my Xbox. Luckily for me I can now view them larger and choose which ones I want to purchase.
My problem: I am not willing to pay $60 for an 8x10 photo above and beyond what was included with my package. The photographers did a lovely job with the pictures themselves but on the day of my wedding they were rude to myself and my girls, they forgot important shots (none of myself and the best man), and they are now taking forever and a day to set up a meeting with me so I can order prints. I would much rather print off my own photos instead of going broke for photographers that can't even treat me well now that they've done my photos...
My Question: Since I can view the photos on my TV (which is a considerable size, enlarging the photos clearly at least a 9x15 size) is it possible for me to print them off at high quality? I can't even manage a sharp 4x6 for some reason and I'm not sure if it would be my photo printer or if I need to ask for digital copies of my photos in a higher resolution.
Should I:
- Invest in a better quality photo printer? Mine is definitely not one of the best out there
- Request better digital copies of the photos?
- Go to another establishment (Kodak store?) and have them print off photos?
- Order my photos from the photographers as there is no way around this?
This is making me feel very ripped off - missing important shots, neglecting my appointment, poor quality digital photos and parent albums starting at $1000? I just want to make albums for the people important to me without having to get a second mortgage.

moreResolved Question: I'm getting married in December & need bridal party gift ideas.....?
My fiancee and I are thinking of giving each member of our bridal party, as well as our parents, Godparents, and vocalists (friends of ours), a stocking full of little trinkets and goodies. We are going to have the main gift(s) be the girls' jewelry as well as a digital photo ornament. But we want to fill the stockings with other things as well. Our theme has kind of inadvertently become snowflakes, and our colors are red, white & silver.
Some examples of ideas we have include make-up for the girls, shot glasses, wedding-themed movies (i.e. "The Wedding Singer", "Wedding Crashers", "27 Dresses" etc...).
Anyway, we're looking for more ideas. Please let us know if you think of anything!!! Remember, it has to fit into a stocking. And we need somewhat inexpensive items since there will be several stockings to fill!! =o)
Thanks!!
moreVoting Question: Where can i find Express Photo Portrait & Wedding Express Digital Software?
Where can i purchase it from and how much is it?
moreResolved Question: Best digital camera for portrait/wedding type photography?
Yes, I am aware that SLR cameras provide much better picture quality blah blah but to be honest I don't want to pay too much and I don't want to be lugging around a big camera all the time! But if anyone can recommend a low price and compact one then I would definitely consider :)
So basically I am not a professional but I would appreciate a camera which provides better results than the ones I have had/used before.
If possible I would like a camera with image stabilization, Live view LCD and colour control (especially flesh tones) as these are helpful for portrait photography. Fast multi-point auto focus and lots of external flash options would be a bonus.
The biggest problem I have faced with previous cameras is that the flash can wash people out (i.e. make their skin appear white/blue due to the harsh flash) I know that this can be expected when taking photos indoors/at night time but I am wondering if their are any cameras with settings that would help this as all I am asking for is decent quality photographs where people appear flesh coloured! I would like to spend between £150-£250 but can definitely pay more for something which is noticeably better.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and if you have any sample photos (preferably portrait style shots) taken on the cameras that I can see then that would be a bonus.
Thanks all!
moreResolved Question: Are vow renewals cheezy?
My husband and I got married in a small wedding chapel almost 2 years ago in Niagara Falls. It was just us, the minister and two witnesses they provided. We wanted something small and private (I had my wedding dress and everything and he wore a suit) for personal reasons.
I've been feeling lately like I want to do a vow renewal service to have for my family and his to be there. We didn't have official photos (although we did have our digital camera there and took some) and would like to have some actual nice wedding photos.
I would wear the same dress I wore in our first wedding. Also would wearing a veil be cheezy?I don't see it as "redoing" it, I see it more as involving family in something special.I love weddings, I'm not ashamed of my day at all. It's not about playing dress up or anything. It is simply so that family could be there for it. My mom expresses all of the time how she wishes she were there for it.Also it would be a no gifts event. We already had wedding showers thrown for us the first time and have no need for more gifts.
moreResolved Question: question about my digital camera?
I have been appointed the camera-woman for a certain occasion for my sister's wedding. I'm planning to use our digital camera and have already uploaded all the old pictures from it to the computer and then deleted them on the camera so I have more memory on the 1 GB card available for the event tomorrow. However, even though I've deleted all the pictures from the memory, the camera still says that only 50% of the memory card is available for storing pictures. I keep going back to the memory to see if I can access any more photos and delete them..but the memory says there are no more photos. What is taking up the other 50% of the memory card then?

moreVoting Question: Gray spots in photos indicators of cancer or just mere coincidence?
This is weird as hell but I am sure there is a logical explanation. My wife was putting together a photo album for her mother of our wedding. The photos were digital and were sent to clark color to be developed and were sent back. When they arrived most were normal, but my wife noticed 3 pictures of her father with a gray spot perfectly formed around his nose in each photo. He recently returned from the doctor after getting a melanoma or weird cancerous looking spot on his nose checked out. All three photos were in different poses making this even stranger. To add to the mystery, as we dug further through the photos we found another image of my grandpa with an identical looking gray spot perfectly formed around his nose as well. This is where my wife and I got weirded out. My grandpa had a diagnosed cancerous spot that was removed, they cut out a good portion of his nose. Strange, maybe just a coincidence, who knows? Out of the 100 or so different pictures there was only one other photo that had a gray spot on it. It was a photo of my brother and he had a paint easel shaped spot on the left side of his forehead. He does have a skin disease called vitiligo. I am wondering if these photo blemishes could be due skin blemishes reflecting the light in a different manner from normal skin( I know this is weird but who cares), some kind of cancer or skin disease predicting phenomenon, or just mere coincidence???? I am looking for serious answers only, I am not joking around here I am genuinely curious as to what could have caused those spots. If you have any theories or have ever heard of any photo phenomena such as these described please let me know. Thanks in advance.
moreResolved Question: Is it ok to have a wedding without a reception, or...?
just an early ceremony with a small brunch reception, with deli sandwiches, fruit, cheese and cracker trays and just sparking grape juice and champaigne, as well as other beverages. We are getting married March 27th, and our budget is tight right now, and I just don't feel like spending much on the wedding. I had my heart set on a outdoor garden ceremony, so we are already splurging on that, but it would be nice to have some money left over for the honeymoon. I don't really think we need a DJ or professional photographer either; just our own music, and someone to take nice photo's with a digital camera. I'm just not wanting to deal with a great expense for the wedding. We have other inportant goals next year, like continuing paying for my college, and a new car. It turrns my stomach a little to think of spending that much money for one day, but I do want it to be special; no court house wedding!!!! lol
any advice?important....lolThere are no bridesmaids or groomsmen. Only my moh and best man. and our guest list only includes 32 people.
moreResolved Question: Hey Pro Wedding Photogs! Mentor needed!?
Hi all!
I've been in the photo business for about 3 years now. I have been focusing on adding a little at a time, but now, I'm feeling like the business just isn't as large as I'd like it to be. I've done a few weddings, adding 1-2 each year. My wedding portfolio is decent now, but again, I'd like to be better. So, my questions are as follows:
1. When a bride or groom-to-be contacts you and inquires about your services, what do you do? Do you schedule an appointment or do you simply give them the information they ask for? Currently, it seems that when I give a prospective client my price information upon request, I don't hear from them again, despite following up after a week or so. What am I doing wrong?
2. I am 100% sure that I'm not getting referrals. At all. I know my brides are happy, because they tell me they are! All my prospective brides either see my ad on theknot.com or facebook. How can I rev-up my referrals?
3. My print sales from weddings are EXTREMELY low. As in, $20-40 per wedding. :( What strategies have you found work well for driving up print sales in a digital age?
At this point, I'm a sponge because I'm out of ideas! Thanks for your help.
Also, here's my website (somewhat outdated...I have several new images for it, and I'm in the process of updating) if you have any pointers in that regard... http://www.lamb-photo.com
Again, thanks a million!
moreResolved Question: why do wedding photographers insist on fighting the digital age, and stick to old scholl ways?
Ok, here's my deal... I have some really sweet digital camera gear, and I know some wedding photographers who insist on themselves printing everything, and will not give the digital images to the people paying for it. I just don't get it? Nowdays, tell me who at a wedding doesn't have a digital camera? And I can tell you from personal expeirence that I've been at weddings, and had better camera gear then the photographer, and I can shoot well too. So I was at a wedding where the photographer was upset I was shooting photos that they we're too. I just don't get it.. just trying to help ..someone help me out :)
moreResolved Question: Where can I convert a VHS tape to a cd or dvd?
I have a family VHS tape that is over 20 years old. I treasure this tape since the video is the only pictures I have of my family members. Five years ago I moved from Pennsylvania to Cleveland, Ohio where my then boyfriend lived to be closer to him. During the move the box that contained all my family photos were lost. I always kept carried the VHS tape with me during each move just for such a mishap as what happened 5 years ago. My Mom, Grandmother, Grandfather, Aunt and Uncle all have since passed away and it is a treasure to have this video. My wedding ceremony is also on a VHS tape given to me as a gift from a close family friend. I would like to be able to give the VHS tape of my family to my two sisters as a christmas present. Where can I go to have the video tape converted to a DVD or CD? I don't want to go to just anybody I want to go to someone who is professional and will care for the tape. Is there a way also of converting the tape to a digital form for photos? Thanks for your help.

Hello- I have some very high res photos that are any where from 3.5 up to 18 megs each. All are jpeg format. I would like to have prints of the some of them made up but I'm not sure what the best format is.
Can someone tell me if it makes a difference since they are digital images, how they will look as prints? Also, there are suppose to be three ways to have prints made; glossy, matte and a third option that I'm not familiar. What is this third option and what are the +'s and -'s of each of the three.
These are wedding photos so they are mostly of people.
thanks-Sam- Wow. Huge help so far. But I'm stumped. You mention over processing. I didn't know you could overprocess a digital image. How does that happen?
moreResolved Question: Problem with printing my digital photographs?
I have a Sony Cyber-shot and I believe its the W-180. We got it the day before our honeymoon because the day before our wedding out daughter smashed our old one. This was on May 3rd of 09. We took lots of photos on our honeymoon and sent them to Walgreen's to get printed and they turned out great. But as of recently we have been having problems with picture quality. We will take a photo and it looks great on the camera display. then we upload it to our computer and still, great quality. But when we send it to either Walgreen's or Wal-mart, the pictures come back pixelated and not very sharp/high quality. I have looked all online and read everything from dirty lens, needing to adjust shutter speed to even a fungus growing inside my camera. Please, if anyone can help and give me some ideas as to why all of a sudden my camera is producing great photos when i see them on the computer but poor ones when we print them.
moreResolved Question: I have captured some very weird spiritual orbs from my Digital Camera. Please view and interpret them /?
I just visited a wedding at night, when, while photographing I noticed clumps of orbs in my pictures. Then someone told me about their spiritual aspect. The next night I pictured some parts of my home, when i came across some really weird orbs.
Here is the link to the album (3 pics) : http://img32.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=supernatural002.jpg
Here is the link to the specific weird photo : http://img337.imageshack.us/i/supernatural005.jpg/
I swear upon God that these are not computer generated pics. The orb was really there. Whenever I go to this place, i feel a chill, the temperature is lower than rest of the place.
Please someone tell me about this. I have seen many orbs in photos but none of this type. Please someone interpret it.
moreResolved Question: How can I get better glamour photography pics with my wife and how can I get her to pose for longer sessions?
With no "pro" experience in this whatsoever, I have occasionally photographed my wife with a digital camera where she's wearing lingerie. The pictures are safely hidden on password protected flash drives and are only for us. My question is this, I have no idea what I'm doing other than to snap the best picture I can at a given moment, and she usually poses in a simple manner with little direction from me. When I do try to pose her, she says that my idea of what looks good is different than hers. Also, the sessions are usually only around 10 minutes give or a take, because she only seems comfortable doing them for about that long. So what can I do to make her look good in the photos and make her happy and comfortable? And what can I do to encourage her to have longer photo sessions with more than just a couple outfits?
She seems to be comfortable about taking the pictures when they start, but she needs to be "charmed" into starting the session. I think that's because she weighs more than her wedding weight and she's more conscious of her body, so she's more reluctant to begin the session and will only go through a short session. Any ideas for warming her up to the idea of starting a shoot (and continuing the shoot longer and keeping her happy during the shoot)?
Also, any ideas for warming her up to the idea of a nude or partially nude shoot would be welcome too. We did that once when we were both soused, but I'd like to do it without the alcohol.
Thanks for your reply.
moreResolved Question: Should I renew my lease or buy a pop-up camper?
I've got $2,000 in that bank. Should be able get a half decent used one. I pay $550 rent on a studio apartment. After taxes my income is about $400 a week. I have 3 years experience in 1 hour photo lab work, 1 as management, have done a lot of portrait photography (mostly H. S. Seniors), very familiar with film and digital cameras, especially Fuji equipment, the Fuji DL410 digital "dry lab", Epson 9800 wide format printer and Photoshop CS3.
I have a relative that lives in the Hampton Bay area of Virginia. I could live in his driveway he says. If I am able to save some money doing this, maybe I can buy a place down there. The big question is will I be able to survive a winter in a pop-up camper down there? I know I will not be able to do it up here (central NY) as we already have had frost the other night.
Wed have pretty high unemployment around here, about 10% so demand for things like photography comes way after putting food on the table and a roof over one's head these days. Hopefully things aren't so bad that nobody is spending money. For example local seniors would spend $100 on portraits in 2006, maybe even $110. Today I'm lucky to get more than the $30 sitting fee and another $20-30 worth of prints. In 2006, 200+ seniors would get portraits out of a class of 300. This year looks like maybe only 100 out of 300. Few jobs and less money leaves me broke. I don't know if I should stick it out here in poverty or move on.

moreResolved Question: wedding photography...help!?
My husband and I are having a bit of an ordeal with one of our "guests" that attended our wedding. Actually the guest was his brother's date. Anyway, she brought her digital camera and we were under the impression that she was just going to take some candid pictures just like most guests do during a wedding. Now, we have come across a Wedding Photography website that is hers, and she is using our photos as advertisement! We were never presented with a contract, and we never gave her permission to use our photos in this way. This makes me very upset. We weren't even aware that she had a wedding photography business. In fact, we didn't even know she was taking pictures until after the wedding! What should we do?

moreResolved Question: What is a good wedding gift for this situation?
My brother is getting married soon, and is going to boot camp not long after that. They're not having a big wedding, just a court wedding, and no reception because of cost.
I have two gift ideas for what to get my brother and his finance. I would like to either get them a digital camcorder or camera, mostly to capture family moments (they do have a young daughter) and moments my brother will miss being in the Army.
Is this acceptable? Which would be the better gift? They have a digital camera, but it's very old and it can't even hold a memory card. Picture quality is about that of my camera phone, which takes good pictures in good lighting, but their camera doesn't record video. The cameras I'm looking at would, but they wouldn't be the absolute greatest video, and I think videos are fabulous, thus why I'm thinking a digital camcorder which would have better picture and sound quality, and take some photos. I know they take TONS of pictures too, so I'm not sure how much they would utilize video since they never have, but since my brother won't be around, they might use it.
So any opinions? They're all appreciated! :]And I know he can't be sent videos, but just like videos he can watch when he gets back, like his daughter's birthday and such. I also would do a gift card or money alone, but I wanted to be a little more thoughtful. Or should I just go with cash?Webcam would be nice, if they had a computer. :[ Can't afford computer, or internet for that matter.
moreResolved Question: Problems with wedding photographs?
Hi
I am fairly new to digital photography and was recently asked to take photographs of my brother's wedding. I took 20 or so shots either inside the church (obtained permission first) or inside the Hotel reception. I use a Nikon D80. As I do not have a decent flashgun I decided to turn off the flash and try and get some good photos using natural light. I mostly had the settings of the camera in manual mode. I was also shooting in raw mode for the first time. Unfortunately, these indoor shots are very grainy which I believe to be a result of high levels of noise. I have since tried to edit the photos in raw including using noise reduction without success. Reviewing the camera memory I see that the ISO is highlighted in red for these shots and at a level of 1500. Considering this I assume that the problem has been that I should have pre-set the ISO to a lower level? Or maybe the grainy effect is due to something else? Maybe I can still improve these pictures? I would appreciate any advice?
Thanks
Michael
moreResolved Question: How do I decrease the photo res of 552 photos in mass quantity?
I have a CD of 552 wedding pictures that are an average of about 3000 x 3000 or greater each. I just want to make them exactly 10x smaller so that my pocket digital picture frame wouldn't take 5 seconds to load each picture as I am viewing them. I just need a mass quantity way to resize pictures (not 1 by 1). I have Photoshop Elements 5.0, on Windows Vista, if that would help at all.

moreResolved Question: Is a digital photo Retoucher job permitted in Islam?
I would like to know that is it Halal in Islam to work on a digital picture image of a person by using software to enhancing looks of that person Like Glamour Retouching to them. Changes made to the image as a whole to perfect tone, color, and exposure, hair styles and digital makeups. Its more like a wedding/model photo images which are processed through computer software to change hair styles/hair color/skin tones/hair grafting/Color contrast etc. A Photo-Retoucher’s Job - Is such type of work Permitted in Islam.
Please note that I do only processing of images on computer screen not printing them on paper-believing it to be permitted. please correct if i am wrong.Friends thanks for advise, i shouldn’t put such type of questions on a general forum, but i disagree that one should have known everything regarding his religion, its obvious that no one knows everything unless he is religious expert. Like for example Ephesians 5:18 says do not drink wine, but then why all do it – some says wine is prohibited some says its not because once Jesus turned water into wine and some says Jesus only turned water into wine but did not drink it so its not permitted – Who is right only an authority can define–Its not about knowing everything regarding ones belief its about clearing a confusion by judging different opinions. Instead being more specific I put it on a related thread. But I agree I shouldn’t.
