Open Question: How Should We Begin the Home Buying Process?

Hi all. Currently I am nineteen and married, have an Associate's Degree, and am employed full time earning an average monthly income of ~$2300 a month (Currently, I am on a training salary currently for the next three months for a commission based job, this can rise). My husband is currently undergoing the deferred action process and is unemployed, but does whatever jobs he can to pay bills, et al. He earns about ~$800 a month. For taxes, I report as a single because he has no current legal status and has not yet been granted a work visa through the DA process (but soon he will!) My question is, how do we start the home buying process? I currently am working hard to get an awesome credit score (as I am so young, mine is not that high. I am working to buy things on credit cards, and then immediately pay them off, etc. Never have had a car payment.) My husband has no credit score and cannot report any income on a home loan application because he has never filed taxes, since he has been a dependent up until this point. (He is also nineteen.) We are both two hardworking, young people tired of renting and that have OK income. Soon my husband will be able work a position full time, but that could be months away. I am just wondering, amidst all this, what I can do to begin the home buying process, and whether or not we will have to supply a large down payment. Vanderbilt offered a $55k loan with a 10% down payment, but I didn't know whether this was good, bad, etc. Just looking for help! I know about PMI, but we cannot afford a huge down payment and do not qualify for USDA loans. Thanks! Thanks All!Referred to DA as Deferred Action, stated previously in post. And sounds good. I just HATE HATE HATE renting. We aren't moving, we have rented for almost a full year now and our lease is up in June. I do not like not being able to do home improvement projects, have party cookouts, etc. But I guess if that is the case, we will have to wait. Just thought it was strange I was already approved for a small loan with a down payment, but I have been working since I was 16.Deferred Action: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f2ef2f19470f7310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=f2ef2f19470f7310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD more

Open Question: Made a mistake on visa application...?

I decided to look through our I-129F K-1 fiancee visa application (the duplicate) to see if I'd forgotten any evidence to put in the packet (this is a little over two months since I sent the application) and noticed I made a small error on the G-325A Biographic Information form. I accidentally put that I was hired on at one of my jobs in January of 2012 when I was actually hired in January of 2013. Will this have any tremendous affect on the application? Will they delay/deny it because of that small error? more

Open Question: Does one have to stay in the US while applying for a green card by marriage?

My girlfriend and I have been together for 2.5 years and we were considering getting married. I work in the offshore industry and normally work 4 weeks (outside the US) and then have 2 weeks off which I spend in the US on a ESTA (holiday) Visa. I would prefer to continue working this way during the Green Card application. Is it possible to do this? Or would I have to stay in the US during the application? I would hate to be off work for up to a year. Thanks in advance for any advice. more

Open Question: Australian permanent residency?

I'm an NZ citizen. I've lived in Aus, QLD for two years now and have looked at several sites to find information about obtaining my PR off Special Category Visa (SCV). Apparently if you're 18 (which I am), and lived for two years and work for one year then you can apply for PR but every site I've read has mentioned that you can't get PR from a SCV. So what can I do to try and apply? I want to remain in Australia with my partner who is an Australian citizen and attend university. Do I have any options? Oh, and I also need step by step guidance on how to apply, where to send in the applications and what I need. I can't find anything on the net that gives me the information I need. Please please please help! Thank you! Please please please help! Thank you! more

Open Question: Canada Immigration USA FBI Police Certificate 3 months?

I am outside Canada and the US. I have only been to the US once in 2006. For Canadian Immigration, I need to procure the FBI Police Certificate. This certificate takes 4 months to arrive (16-18 weeks acc. to their website). CIC mentions that the date of the certificate should not be older than 3 months prior to the date of application. Canada immigration is limited due to quotas that get filled up very fast. Even if I apply on the date the CIC starts accepting new application without the US PCC, and then apply for the US PCC, I am likely to miss the date. If I miss this year, and I re-try the next year, and my passport shows that I have not been to USA since, is the old USA Police Certificate still valid? I wouldn't know when the gates will open next year, so I can't just keep an FBI PCC "handy", because its only going to be valid for 3 months at the CIC. How can people who have stayed in the US and are now outside the US and Canada, get a visa in this case? more

Open Question: How hard is it for my sister in law to get a visitor's visa to come to the U.S.?

She has the intention to go back home, given the fact her husband will not be accompanying her on this trip. We don't want to spend the money on the applications if there is a chance she will be denied, as there are no refunds. Has anyone gone through this before? If so, can you please shed some light on the process.160 is not a lot, however $640 to be wasted on a denied visa application is. She has to pay for each application and I did mention above she has three kids to bring with her. more

Resolved Question: My husband is an illegal immigrant from Brasil. How should we begin to apply for paper work?

We have been together for 5 years, married for 2.He moved here when he was 16, he is now 28. I was wondering if it is recommended to get a lawyer or can we apply for paper work ourselves? If we can apply without a lawyer what papers would we need? I just wanted to know which forms are needed. Thanks =pOK to the guy who said he should be shot your mother should have had an abortion because she raised an ignorant moron. Secondly, to the lady who said he should stay out of the country for 10 years, unless you are 100 percent native american you should go back to where your ancestors came from because you are no more a legal citizen then he is. My husband was brought to USA by his mother who then passed away. How many of you would survive in a country where you do not speak the language and do not know anyone?! Resolved Question: Immigration - skills assessment type?

Hi I have some specific questions about skills assessment with VETASSESS. My ultimate goal is to apply for 190 state nominated visa. In order to have my qualifications and work experience assessed, I have lodged a skills assessment for General Professional Occupation with VETASSESS. They gave me a positive assessment, but they stated that I have at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Now, I actually have 2+ years of work experience and I called my assessor and she informed that this GPO assessment only sees if you have 1 year of relevant work experience. Not being aware of this, I submitted for a Victorian state sponsorship and they declined my application the next day stating that I do not have 2 years+ of work experience while I satisfy all the other criteria. It seems like I need additional work experience assessment. Is the employment only points test assessment what I need? What is the processing time with this? Many thanks more

Open Question: Permanent residency through family member in Australia?

I am a 19 year old Korean citizen, currently studying in Australia with a student visa. I live with my sister who has currently lodged an application for a Permanent Residency. It has been over 2 years since she lodged her application, and still no word from the department.. My question is, when she does get her Permanent Residency, will I, as her younger brother, be able to gain ANY benefits from her status as a Permanent Resident of Australia? It would be stunning if I could get detailed answers and maybe a few links to some informative websites. I've been doing research on this but after being faced with walls and walls of plain text, it does get to you... Thanks in advance, Young. more

Open Question: Canadian Immigration Lawyers asking to wester union payment for fees is this legit?

i got an email from the canadian immigration and the company hiring me cant pay the fee due to legal matter. i would like to know if someone has experience this? From: Canadian Immigration Lawyers <canadian.immigrations@lawyer.com> To: my email address Sent: Thursday, May 2, 2013 7:28 PM Subject: Canadian Immigration Visa and Work Permit Application Forms to be Completed and Returned with Administrative fee.. Sequel to Canadian Immigration regulations, a foreign national may not engage in employment in Canada unless authorized to do so under Canada Immigration law. In many but not all instances, a Work Permit is required and will only be issued by Canada Immigration Lawyers after Human Resources Development Canada ("HRDC") Under Labor Market Opinion ( LMO ) approval certificate and legal endorsement letter from CIC attorneys has been certified on behalf of an employment offered through a prospective Canada employer to a foreign national. HRDC/LMO considers whether the prospective employer has made reasonable efforts to hire a Canadian for the employment opening and whether or not the wages and working conditions of the employment offered are sufficient to attract and retain a Canadian in the employment. HRDC can also consider other elements that might indicate a benefit for Canada and Canada employment-seekers. In most instances, once HRDC/LMO has approved an employment offered, it sends the approval to Canadian Immigration Minister and the foreign national will be contacted by the Canada Immigration. He/she may be subjected to an Immigration intensive screening and documents re-verification and/or undergo an Immigration medical examination at his/her descretion. However, Canadian Immigration Minister must examine the need why an applicant is entering the labour market, and verify whether the foreign national intends to engage in an activity for which he/she might reasonably be expected to receive valuable consideration. If the foreign national meets all Canada Immigration requirements and provide all of the necessary Canada Immigration documents, he/she will receive an Immigration Work Permit jointly. The Immigration Work Permit will state that the foreign national can work in a specific employment capacity for a specific period of time for a specific employer. An Immigration Work Permit will NOT be issued to a foreign national to come to Canada to look for employment. Now that we have received your employment letter from the Canadian Sponsored Employer; Eurosharks Petroleum Refinery Calgary and your application for visa and work permit through Canadian Immigration Ministers office, kindly download attached visa/work permit application forms using Acrobat Reader, fill correctly with block letters and send back to us by email attachment. Again if there is someone accompanying you to Canada , please state it in the work permit application form and fill the person's data correctly as well with block letters. Note that stated fee must be applied individally to each accompanying person relocating with you to Canada. Please return attached completed forms with a processing fee of US$ 596 for each applicant applying for work permit and visa to Canada . This process fee cover's both the work permit Endorsement fee ($266), HRDC/LMO Legal authorization fee $200 and adminstrative fee $130. The fee must be sent through our international process chamber at London as your process file has been officially re-delegated to our international emergency process office in UK due to security reasons, process documentation and emergency demand of your scheduled visa/work permit to Canada which cannot be attended as urgent due to many process files in our visa office here in Canada. Hence, due to the urgency and immediate demand of your scheduled emergency visa/work permit process to Canada, the method of payment is Western Union. The CIC Lawyers International Process Attorney shall receive the fee with the particulars: RECEIVERS NAME: Martin Doyle RECEIVERS ADDRESS: 129 Edgeware Road, London UK Test QUESTION: Code Answer: 1426028 MTCN:.................... Resolved Question: Same sex marriage recognition in Australia?

Before I begin, my question revolves around the topics of both same sex marriage and gaining citizenship through marriage. I know very little on how these systems work in general. I have done some research, however, after being faced with walls and walls of text, it really does get to you.. After recent news on New Zealand's same sex marriage legalization, it sparked a lot of interest for me. But all these laws around marriage is confusing the absolute shit out of me I am a Korean citizen, and I have a student visa in Australia, that expires late December of 2016. I have a boyfriend named Matt, who is an Australian citizen. Will getting married to Matt, in New Zealand (or any other countries where same sex marriage is legal), allow me to lodge an application for a Permanent Residency IN Australia? If not, is there anything I can do at all?? I have read a few articles regarding gaining citizenship/green card through marriage, but most were specifically for people who had no visa. So as far as I am aware, those people would get a visitors visa that allowed them to reside in a country, but not work nor study for 2 years, and finally you MAY be granted a PR? but what would the case be for me? having a student visa already.. I know this question was very disorganized, but I'm at a complete loss here! Thank you in advance more

Resolved Question: I want to live in Japan, how do I go about doing this?

First of all, let me say that I'm not infatuated with anime, in fact I don't watch it. I am fifteen years old, half French half Egyptian, and currently learning the Japanese language. My plans are to enter a university in my country and go to a Japanese university as an exchange student. I'm not sure, but I was told that would allow me to be qualified for work in both countries (is that true?). I don't know what I want to be, but its not an English teacher. I want to be a part time writer, possibly living in Japan for good. Language isn't a problem for me, but are there any other obstacles I might face (other than citizenship, as I don't plan on nullifying my other ones). Thanks for your time.@first answerer I might go as an exchange student, I may just go as a full time one. And when did I say I wanted to be a full time writer? (I said part time), I have other goals for a full time job. So instead of finding non existent holes, please anger my question.I meant answer. more

Resolved Question: Can I Apply To A University Overseas?

I'm in my last year of high school and I've picked out a few universities I want to go and a few of them are overseas. I'm Australian, but my father is a British Citizen, so I can go over to England and live, work and become a student etc without applying for work visas or student visas etc. I want to study Archaeology and there's only really one uni here that will do the course I want but I would much prefer to go to one (I've seen a few I like) in England. I'm getting the right, if not better then required, OP (Uni scores) in my prediction exams, and I'm confident I'll get a good score, but I wanted to know if I can actually apply to a university in England, or if I would have to go to the one in Australia and only go over for a bit of studying or whatever. I've tried asking a few people but they aren't sure, and none of my teachers know anything, help please! ;_____: Also, I would be deferring for a year and moving over, so I would be living there and such, I'm just applying and deferring so that I know I'm going to have a place when I move over. more

Resolved Question: Evidence of financial requirement for UK partner visa?

I am a fully funded PhD student, sponsoring my husband to stay with me and our daughter in the UK. I am required to show an income of £18,600 per year. I am funded by a charity - the total support for me is £18,323, however £3190 of that goes to pay my fees and I am left with a tax free net income stipend of £15133. Can anyone tell me which figure the UKBA will look at - the money I am awarded or the money going into my bank? If I was earning a salary of £18600 (as per the requirement) my net income would be about £15,388. I do have a part-time job that i can add about £2000 gross income per year to the figure if I need to. Thanks for your help and advice. We do also have savings which we can use if we have to, I was just hoping to keep the application as simple as possible and just use one income to prove the requirement.I have read every detail on the UKBA website, including the document FM 1.7 about the financial requirement. Nowhere does it state the case for student stipends clearly, just that "Where the gross (pre-tax) amount of any income cannot be properly evidenced, the net (post-tax) amount will be counted, including towards a gross income requirement". I need to know what this means in real terms. Thanks. more
