Open Question: how do i stop a dept being passed around by different dept recovery agents who keep pursuing me?

some one set up a fraudulent catalog account in my name with Shop Direct Financial Services Ltd. Of course i told them this (4years ago). They agreed i had been hard done by and then ignored me and sold the dept to a dept recovery agent. Every six months or so i now get a new detp recovery agent chase me for £325. I tell them that i have never lived in London (which was the linked address i had years ago (mayb 3) had removed form my credit file, but that was used by the criminal that set up the account 4 years ago). The dept recovery agent will agree that they will not send me any further correspondance. Which they dont but i will get the same letter from a different dept recovery agent every 6 months or so- and i have the same conversation with each. It seems that each time they say it was a 'misstrace' or something like that. It was not a misstrace if they found me- do they just call it that because that allows them to sell the dept to a different dept recovery agent?.. instead of writing it off? How do i fix this problem? It has been ongoing for 4 years with no resolve.in repsonse to my first reply below. I have gone back to shopdirect about this. they say that their involvment ended 4 years ago when they sold the dept and that they have nothin else to do with this. it was their identity theft dept that told me this by phone.in responce to 2nd reply. i have been to the police. they hav on occasion rang the recovery agent direct to assit in getting rid of them. they say theres no point trying to find the person that 1st stole my identity and adviced i see a solicitor with the ongoing problem more

Open Question: How can I best go about making some new, decent (real) mates?

Hi all well I've been thinking about whether or not to post the above question on here or not but I'm just going to type it then (maybe) I'll click the continue button. The thing is I find myself in life at the moment in a position where I have no "real" friends. I mean I work with some lads my age who are OK but not the type of people I'd probably socialize with. I had one mate for ages who I met up with regularly but it was always the same thing - mooching around shops and nothing really stimulating. So now we don't hang out anymore and I do everything on my own, literally. I suppose a big chunk of it is that I'm not really sure how to go about meeting good friends and I don't consider myself hugely confident. I mean it's not like I can just stop someone random in the street and ask if we can hang out. I mean I have a lots of interests: I like DJing (which I've been doing for 10 years), I love watching Top Gear and buying designer clothes. I've done a lot of things on my own: I've been to Top GearLive twice at the NEC, and I try o get out as much as I can - over the past few weeks (alone) I've been to Leaming, Birmingham and London, where I went round all the sights and even had a look around Kensington and Knightsbridge to see all of the big posh houses and stuff. So I don't think I'm a boring person. Anyways I think that about covers it for now but I'd appreciate some honest feedback. Thanks.Oh and I'm 29 more

Open Question: Film camp next summer in London?

Next summer I'll be going to London for 6 weeks for NYFA summer camp. I'll be 17 (: I'm kind of curious as to how much I should bring for food, what there is to do. We have to go with a "buddy" every place we go and we have a curfew, so I know to be careful. Especially in an entirely new country. I'll be gone for 6 weeks so if that tells you anything. They said for food bring at least 250, which I think is normal since it's 125 in the US and everything is pretty much doubled in London, but I don't want to eat cheap the entire time. Maybe a few good times. But for my days off, what's fun there to do? I mean of course shopping, but honestly, I'd only buy a few things including food. Oh and please don't rant on how much you hate London, how dirty it is, etc. ANY major city is like that, so if you wouldn't mindd. Thanks (: more

Open Question: college geography. HELP!!?

Your textbook authors introduced the concept of time-space convergence, meaning "the rate at which places move closer together in travel or communication time or costs." Geographer David Harvey calls this the concept of "time-space compression." "I mean to signal by that term processes that so revolutionize the objective qualities of space and time that we are forced to alter, sometimes in quite radical ways, how we represent the world to ourselves. I use the word 'compression' because a strong case can be made that the history of capitalism has been characterized by speed-up in the pace of life, while so overcoming spatial barriers that the world sometimes seems to collapse inwards upon us. The time taken to traverse space and the way we commonly represent that fact to ourselves are useful indicators of the kind of phenomena I have in mind. As space appears to shrink to a 'global village' of telecommunications and a 'spaceship earth' of economic and ecological interdependencies -- to use just two familiar and everyday images -- and as time horizons shorten to the point where the present is all there is (the world of the schizophrenic), so we have to learn how to cope with an overwhelming sense of compression of our spatial and temporal worlds. The experience of time-space compression is challenging, exciting, stressful, and sometimes deeply troubling, capable of sparking, therefore, a diversity of social, cultural, and political responses." Additional description of this phenomenon by geographers Doreen Massey and Pat Jess from their book A Place in the World... "The familiar claim that 'places are all becoming the same' seems to reflect a notion that everyone everywhere is wearing jeans and trainers and drinking cola out of a metal can. This perception of globalization follows from ideas prevalent in the 1960s, that the world would become westernized or, perhaps more specifically, that the culture of the USA would spread all over the globe and that, soon, everywhere would have a McDonald's. But although 'fast food' did arrive on the streets of London, Moscow and many other places, it arrived in places which had their own existing character and culture. Sometimes, as in Britain for example, where local characteristics may be reinforced through local planning regulations, some international images have had to be modified to 'fit in' to a local streetscape; sometimes the images and the building-styles that go with the newcomers form a clear reminder of 'the shrinking world' and the multinational corporations. But it is not only American-style burger shops which occupy the High Street; so do Chinese, Italian and Indian restaurants, all of which, in time, become as familiar as the 'local' butcher or greengrocer. In other words, what we have witnessed is a process of global mixing (although an unequal and uneven one) rather than a straightforward, unidirectional notion of westernization. These representations of the moving and mixing of peoples and cultures run quite contrary to the old idea of places having fixed boundaries and exclusive communities. They suggest instead a permeability of boundaries and an openness to influences from elsewhere, an openness which is multidirectional. The unfamiliar becomes familiar and the familiar is found in unfamiliar places; we now expect to find certain foodstuffs and a host of commodities available in places far from where they were originally produced, and we no longer feel we need to take 'everything' with us when we go on holiday 'abroad'. And not only commodities and places; the process of moving and mixing affects cultures as well. Cultures intersect and influence one another in ways which leave behind any notion of a simple and direct association between culture and place. If ever there was a simple correlation between place and culture, it is no longer so simple. No culture, no place, is 'pure' and there is no authentic version of either to 'go back' to. Globalization is part of major processes of social change, and the multidirectional nature of the moving and mixing involved has produced and reproduced not sameness but hybridity and local uniqueness. Comment specifically of how time-space convergence has affected your own life experience. Give an example. Do you think time-space convergence similarly affects urban and the rural equally? Does Time-space convergence differ from country to country, if so, in what ways? I DONT NECESSARILY NEED YOU TO ANSWER BUT A LITTLE HELP IN UNDERSTANDING THIS WHOLE THING AND WHAT THEY REALLY WANT WOULD BE HELPFUL! more

Open Question: Im looking for this chunky pearl necklace..popular a while ago?

lots of people used to wear them at one time which is why i didn't want one..but now it's died down i can't seem to find anywhere that does this type of necklace. i guess at one point they were selling cheap ones in primark or something because everyone was wearing them. the beads are smaller at the clasp, or the top and they gradually get bigger in size as the necklace goes down. the only way i can describe it is as a chunky pearl necklace, sorry : / here's a similar one: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3183/2977811314_d661431389.jpg&imgrefurl=http://woomeover.com/blog/%3Fpaged%3D13&usg=__bqrWvCnvXDjqrQc_o2c27jylVA8=&h=338&w=259&sz=13&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=CxY6wDzwWvhW3M:&tbnh=139&tbnw=93&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchunky%2Bpearl%2Bnecklace%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26rlz%3D1R2DKUK_en%26biw%3D1259%26bih%3D852%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=115&vpy=500&dur=363&hovh=257&hovw=196&tx=119&ty=243&ei=fjh9TN6-L9W6jAfqrIHTDg&oei=TTh9TKTfBqbc4waY3bztBQ&esq=7&page=1&ndsp=37&ved=1t:429,r:29,s:0 and i wanted to find a silver chrome looking one, like really-shiny-see-your-reflection chrome, i saw one recently on a mannequin on holiday but didn't have time to go back and buy it. it would be really helpful if you've seen some and could tell me which shop (i'm in the uk, london to be exact), or a link for an online shop.... Wellll - i live in London and me and my girlfriend are going with her dad, girlfriend and kids. We are staying in Kissimee in a house and we already have our tickets which cover all the water parks, universal, disney, bush gardens etc. So we need spending money for a bit of shopping / souvenirs / a day trip to Miami / food etc. Bear in mind that we wont eat out every night and we will go to walmart and have food at the house... oh, and we dont drink alcohol either. So will 2000 dollars for the 2 of us be enough? or more than enough etc thanks :)sorry - for 2 weeks holiday more
