Our house power flickers on and off and sometimes half the house will not work. PEC came out to tell us the problem is in the house OR the out dated meter box outside. We lost power this weekend on Sunday so we went to Lowe's and bought the new box and replaced the old one. That required us to cut off the little tag PEC puts on their glass meter so we could shut of all power safely. Will I go to jail, get in trouble, or get fined for cutting and losing that tag? Another problem... After replacing the old meter box our power still flickered... So we shut off one breaker at a time and waited to see if the house still flickered. It flickered with every single one of the breakers. That tells me it is NOT the house despite what PEC says. Any thoughts out there? I am BROKE and cannot afford an electrician to come and charge me hundreds of dollars to tell me in the end nothing is wrong with the house rather it is on PEC's side. But again if there is a fire in the house.... I am in the same boat.....Anyone got any suggestions? moreOpen Question: Physics. Please Help. Thank You.?

Calorific value (CV) is a measure of heating power and is dependent upon the composition of the gas. The CV refers to the amount of energy released when a known volume of gas is completely combusted under specified conditions. The CV of gas, which is dry, gross and measured at standard conditions of temperature and pressure, is usually quoted in megajoules per cubic metre (MJ/m3). Gas passing through the National Grid pipeline system has a CV of 37.5 MJ/m3 to 43.0 MJ/m3, with the exception of Stornoway which receives liquid petroleum gas. moreOpen Question: Physics 1001 Homework Question - PV, kW, crystalline silicon, mass, density?

Mercedes 92 300SE?
I don't know if I should worry about my car's temperature. I have always known the dashboard thermometer thing to tell me the car is at 80 degrees (with 120+ being in the red). When the car has been off for a good while (3 hours or so), the meter thing goes all the way down (as it should). Just yesterday, I got a longtime family mechanic to fix my power steering because it was leaking and it leaked fluid all over my belt and the spinning cog-like things. He changed the power steering resevoir thing, and he replaced he belt, and he cleaned all those parts there. The leak is no longer there and everthing looks tip top. However, when my car is cold (3+ hours of non-use in 50-60 degree weather), the thermometer thing only goes down to like 50. I checked it this morning and was surprised that the gauge wasn't all the way to the bottom (which is 40). When driving, it used to go up to 80 and stay at 80. Now, it goes up to 95-100 (and i was driving during rain in Los Angeles! Cold!). Strange thing is, when i turn off the car and check the temp immediately by half-turning the key, it goes up to like 105 instead of staying at 95 or going down (though it goes down eventually). I don't know what could be up with this. Is it the gauge misreading the temperature? Especially seeing as how it read 50 when the car was cold. moreVoting Question: Help Me Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaasssseee!?

So I don't know a lot about specs for computers. I just love playing on computers. Right now all I have is a cheap netbook that I can't do a lot on. I want a good gaming computer. One that will let me play online with others with games like Halo and also play my Sims games. I don't want it to lag up on me. I tried playing Halo on my netbook and it was working fine until I got to a battle scene. Then there was no way to play. So I went to iBuyPower.com and custom configured a computer. I choose stuff that I saw someone else had choose for the most part. If there is anyone out there with gaming computer knowledge I would be greatful for your input. It's a 40 gallon G.E. electric water heater. I had to shut my water off for a couple of days because of a leak. I drained the water heater to use the water to flush my toilet while it was shut off. Before draining it I shut the power off to the water heater. I allowed it to refill before turning the power back on. Before my water leak it was working but when I turned it back on it didn't. So I bought new heating elements and thermostats and replaced them. It still didn't work. I used a multi-meter to test the electricity. I tested the voltage to every wire. The top and bottom thermostat wires and the top and bottom heating elements all read 121 volts. During testing I tried using couple of different ground locations, the ground wire on the water heater and the water heater itself. They all read 121 volts regardless of ground location. I tested the heating elements again using the nut on them for a ground, still 121 volts. Finally I tested the continuity of the heating elements, no problem there. I turned the temperture setting on the thermostats all the way up. And I checked the reset button. I don't know of anything else left to check or test. Besides replacing it does anyone have any suggestions? moreVoting Question: How to escape that situation?
This is some kind of psychological game^^ Imagine this situation: You are kidnapped by some criminals. They took you to some secret place… there are hundreds of criminals and they have a big plan. They lock you in a small house with some other 10 prisoners. Later you hear that they want to kill all of the prisoners for some cruel demonstration. After a while you hear that one of the prisoners is an marine, one is an architect, one is an police-officer and there is one strange asian girl… Alll other prisoners are wounded or sick. Then the strange asian girl tells you, that she has a special (and very unique power), the ability to change her body-size to whatever she wants from some few inch to over 100 meters. She don’t know why she can do, but it’s true. She knows she is powerful and she wants to help the other prisoners to escape, but she don’t know what she should do… Even the other persons, want to help. So they ask YOU what they should do. * Do you have an idea what to do? * What would you say to them? * Please explain how they can escape… moreResolved Question: Why can't I get this Dell Dimension 8400 to turn on?
I tested multiple power sources and power cables, made sure the psu was on 115. I replaced the CPU, motherboard, front panel switch, I/O control panel and cable, and the cpu fan and hood. I shorted the P1 connector which turned on the psu and tested it with a voltage meter and it read 5 and 12 v as it should. At this point I've replaced or tested everything in this machine that would prevent it from turning it and still nothing. Will a bad video card prevent it from turning on? Our landlord recently called a technician who connected electricity line to a tenant who uses high-powered refrigerators from our meter-box.He is given a different meter from ours but we share the main fuse. We were surprised to realize that our bill that month tripled yet at no time had it even doubled. Our light bulbs have also not as bright as they were. What could be the possible cause of this?on my first question, I like the answers I'm getting and I'm sure I'm almost getting a fully satisfying answer. What puzzles me is this: When our meter switch is put off and the new tenant's line is on, our meter stops and only his meter is running. This situation makes the landlord prove that he is not using our power yet I'm fully convinced of this. Yes, we share the main fuse, what I don't understand is how its connection is related with our meter. We suspect the connection is wrong but I really need to understand this. moreResolved Question: How can connecting a new meter from main meter-box lead to higher bills from the original meter?

So I was on some forums the other day, and I came across one of those "Post your desktop" threads. I was looking through some of the peoples desktops, and I noticed a couple that had what appear to be a CPU diagram bar at the top of their screen. It was not connected to the task bar, and it wasn't a gadget/widget for the Vista sidebar. It showed the battery power of their laptop, CPU usage, RAM usage, etc. Does anyone know the name of what this would be? And if so, do you have any download links for where I can get one. I tried searching for CPU meters, but all I got were ad dons for the Vista side bar. This wasn't a program to speedup your computer, it was just a bar showing the statistics of your PC. I highly doubt it was something that you bought. moreResolved Question: I need help thanks...... :D?
