Welcome to Youth Team Building Questions and Answers

Resolved Question: is this a good business money venture idea ?

idea: Boxing promoter/talent spotter aim: to go to the war torn parts of the world, and find promising young boys who I can groom into young powerful disciplined future boxing champions. long term goal: to build a fearful impressionable boxing dynasty family that dominates the USA and Europe. requirements: young impressionable lads from troubled regions of the middle east and other developing nations with poverty ridden cities.(Palestine, Iraq, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Cambodia...) aged 11-15 basicaly I intend to help channel their anger, pain, hurt, and youth into something formidable and quite simply, un <beep< stoppable. i intend to create a boxing dynasty that will rival the mexican boxing scene and also the philipines and US boxing scene. Europe ...bows down nicely for me and my boxing family/dynasty. It just has to be that way. I will wear a nice white hat, and suit and walk into the arena on a red carpet with a cuban cigar in my mouth clutching a diamond studded ivory cane (ivory obtained from an elephant who died naturaly. we are not barbaric sickos). I intend to help these boys fulfi ltheir dreams and likewise, my long term goals of becoming the greatest boxing promoter/talent spotter ever. I intend to monopolise the boxing scene. Its all mine. and it hurts you all so much , but what can we do ? i have found the next gen fighting machines ! so, i help young these young lads become millionaires by training them by the best nutrionalists, sports management teams and ultimately create a conveyer built of future dominant champions. that area of the world , is an untapped region of blossoming talented young men who I'm convinced can excel in sport - especialy boxing, and I intend to groom them to become fearless supremely confident fighting machines. they will be my little babies, my special apples. and I shall bare the fruit of their success when they knock out americans and european men with imense ease and elegance in the ring ! it doesnt get sweeter than that does it ? * puffs cigar * is this a good business money venture idea ?first i start with the middle east and work my way into the indo sub continent. africas poorest nations and most troubled ones are on the agenda to find talent. no latinos - sorry. I want to single handedly , finish mexico/puerto rican/cuban...all central and sout hamerican boxing hopes. I want to be remembered as the man who single handedly 'destroyed' south american boxing ! that, and I want to embarrass home grown American boxers at the MGM grand, las vegas nevada...with MY young impressionable fighting machines. then I want to go on camera and smile at millions of viewers ! more

Resolved Question: if unemployment causes the british youth to turn to drugs and alcohol?

is it not the right time to re introduce national service for all school leavers instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment in our young adults. i don't mean youngsters sent to war zones though some of our inner city estates are much like trouble spots over the world. i mean old values like team building, sense of duty seeing what lies beyond 4 walls a 2ltr of cider and some hash i think we have become very complacent about the lack of life skills some of our society have and don't even want to achieve. this don't care can't be bothered attitude needs to change or Britain will become a state of zombies more

Resolved Question: The more I watch the way they act, the more I see similarities between?

Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. They really do seem to managing from the book. I doubt both sets of supporters will agree, but the more I study them, the more I see it. Fergie built from the bottom, implemented changes in the youth policy, as has Rafa. I looked at the team changes over Fergies first 5 years, Rafa's gone about it the same kind of way. Personalities, Sportsmanship (or lack of it), just more & more identical. Mind you, both are just doing riffs on the famous boot room mentality that Liverpool had during the 60's, 70's & 80's. more

Resolved Question: Why do english fans support their club teams if......?

1) Clubs squeeze every little penny out of them. Did anyone ever think about these ticket prices? I am wondering whatever happened to the original fans that worked as industrial workers. I am not sure how they are suppose to afford these prices. 2) English teams tell their youth to go to hell. Liverpool plays 1-2 english players at most. That's about 10% english players on the squad. Arsenal fields 0-1. Manchester also gets less and less. Don't the fans care about the big clubs bringing up some youth players at all? What has happened with all the pride for the clubs and their roots? 3) All the clubs are under foreign ownership and they are just in it to earn millions. They have no identity with the club. They just buy the best players their money can buy. How much of a sporting success is it really if the 5 richest clubs always compete for the title in the champions league in europe, and the 4 biggest english clubs are the only ones to compete for the premier league title. The small teams in the barclays league don't stand a chance. 4) Why is it called the Barclays League anyway? Do they need the money that badly that they can't just call it the first division? Most clubs stadiums are named after insurance groups etc. 5) And whatever happened to Wembley Stadium? That was football's temple and you just took it down and build a modern stadium with no real atmosphere like everyone else has it in the world. With tons of VIP areas. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I really do not understand english or european football. Why do the fans support that? In Brazil and Argentina we have our own players and pride in our teams. Go Boca!Added: Yes, our players leave because they can earn more money and play at a even higher standard. But, we take pride in our players who play overseas. We have our entire leagues full of our own players and we have tons of players overseas. You on the other hand barely have any english players in the premier league and do not have any in other leagues. Sometimes I wonder how you can even pick players for the national team. Most of the players for Manchester United were brought up many years ago. There are not that many new ones coming up. You don't even have coaches and needed to resort to an italian coach to coach your team. I also believe that it is hard to come up as a talented player nowadays in england. 1. you have to get into a squad that is composed of 25 really good players from all over the world with tons of experience 2. you have to fight yourself through the youth system against talented players from all over the world for probably only 1 bench spotIn Latin America our players get experience by playing for the team early. By the time most of them go to Europe they have already played club football for a while. The young kids in England are given 1 or 2 chances as substitutes the most and then they are dropped because they did not perform. What do you people expect? For them to perform as if they had played in the league for 10 years? That's ridiculous! How many 18, 19 and 20 year old players play for Manchester United and Chelsea right now who are english? I can name you a whole bunch in Argentina. Plus, our atmosphere is way better. We don't sit around like you guys as if we listen to opera. It's football. It had atmosphere like that ever since. Not my fault if you changed it in Europe. more

Resolved Question: What was Manchester United lacking during the 1970s and 1980s ?

especialy during the 80s when they were a very good outfit, and would often get off to some great starts in league campaigns but would end up under achieving and losing out to major silveware to Everton and L'pool ? In a nutshell, what was the underlying reason behind Liverpool being the dominant force in English football during those two decades and not Manchester United ? was it a psycholigical thing ? the expectations building up each year and the fact that they were 2nd best to Liverpool ? what was the turning point ? key players signed ? youth policy ? the stadium ? new management ? or all of those things ? I think it was 1991 , when Manchester United won the European Cup winners cup, i remember watching that game on tv and I must admit they were showing signs of becoming the next dominant force in the english game (and how right I was). Also seem to recall how in 1992 when Leeds took the title, Manchester United were by far the most exciting team to watch even if they JUST missed out on the title that year. so what was the problem during the 80s with United, and what was the fundamental reasons behind them failing to win league titles ? more

Resolved Question: Were you a child in the 80's?

Hello children of the 80's. Read this, it will take you back but be careful 'cause it will also make you realise that you are now actually quite old ........ Friendship bracelets were ties that couldn't be broken. You know all the words to "Ice Ice Baby". You wanted to be on "Jim'll Fix It". You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before he had plastic surgery. You wore one of those slap-on wristbands at some point...or heaven forbid one of those T-shirts that changed colour with heat (Global Hypercolour). You had slouch socks and puff painted your own shirt at least once. You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off". You were upset when She-ra, Princess of Power and He-Man got cancelled. You can remember watching Saved by the Bell You remember Madonna in her cone stage. You knew "The Artist" when he was humbly called "Prince." You even wore fluorescent-neon clothing... (if you can call it clothing!) Not only did you wear fluorescent-neon clothing, but they were mismatched with fingerless gloves and toweling socks. You could break dance (ok, you wished you could) You remember when Amiga was a state of the art video game system. You remember M.C. Hammer. You can still sing the rap to "Fresh Prince of Bel Air".... You can remember when it was Jazzy Jeff and The fresh Prince and NOT just plain Will Smith! You own any cassettes. You carried your lunch to school in a Gremlins, ALF or ET lunchbox. You have ever pondered on why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf. My Little Pony, Gummy Bears and Transformers are familiar to you. You ever had a Swatch Watch. You actually spent countless hours trying to perfect the "Care Bear stare." You believed that "By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power!" You spent hours in the basement building and re- building Lego cities. Big wheels and BMX's were the way to go. With your pink (or blue) portable tape player, you sang to Kylie and Jason! If you ever owned Polly Pocket or Micro Machines. If you ever made Ken fall in love with Barbie. You know what " Psyche" means. Partying "like it's 1999" seemed SO far away. You knew that Transformers were "more than meets the eye". You wore a banana clip at some point during your youth. You actually thought "Dirty Dancing" was a REALLY good film. You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living in space. You know what leg warmers are and probably had a pair. You wore biker shorts underneath a short skirt and felt stylish. You had to change into play clothes after school. You recorded songs off the radio with your boom box. Somehow you still know all the words to songs played on VH1's "Big 80s" Your arm was full of rubber bracelets. You wore those wide, colourful shoelaces. You still don't like going in the sea because of Jaws. You remember Now compilations that had the pig on the front cover. You never questioned why the A-Team were always imprisoned in places that had sufficient tools to build an armoured tank.  more

Resolved Question: Why are projects keeping children away from crime being left in limbo?

While the government discusses building yet more prisons to win voters in an upcoming election? Source: Children & Young People Now magazine www.cypnow.co.uk. I work for a crime prevention programme in a youth offending team, my job is not secure, it is always subject to short term fudning and political agendas. Despite huge amounts of evidence of the success of crime prevention with children it is still way too low on the government agenda. Prisons, with AWFUL reoffending rates remain high on the agenda. WHY?Elvis, do you want to see the statistical data from my team for the last five years regarding the effectivness of preventions in youth justice? It was part of the evidence supplied to the government. Youth offending teams have to turn in monthly data returns to the government covering all activity from prevention to custody . . . in terms of preventing re-offedning and addressing the causes of offending, custody comes out bottom every time and the sentences are nowhere near as low as the press would have you believe. more

You never questioned why the A-Team were always imprisoned in places that had sufficient tools to build an armored tank. Dungeons & Dragons was your favourite programme. You said "bright light, bright light" in a strange high-pitched voice. You fell out with friends during heated arguments about the relative merits of Matt & Luke. Cerise pink, electric blue and banana yellow have ever featured in your wardrobe or make-up collection. You did the top toggle of your coat up around your neck without having your arms in the sleeves, and you knew you looked like a superhero. Your new winter coat was best used to demonstrate that your wings were like a shield of steel. You still remember when the A-ha video was the pinnacle of modern technology and you can still sing all the words. Your best party dress was either a ra-ra or puff-ball skirt. You remember watching a house inhabited by a jester, a pantomime horse and a woman who sneezed, and thinking that this was perfectly normal. You tried to convince your Dad to fit a strip of red lights on the front of a Capri so it looked like KITT. You had more than 10 sweets in a 10p mix-up. You hid behind the sofa whenever you heard the word "Exterminate!". Girls - You owned a pair of Pixie boots, generally worn with leg warmers. Boys - You owned a pair of pale grey slip-ons, generally worn with white toweling socks. You held a chicken in the air or stuck a deckchair up your nose. You wore legwarmers & tried to do the splits while jumping in the air while singing you were going to live forever. You remember Fingermouse and Dangermouse (not forgetting his trusty sidekick Penfold!). You know all the words to "Hey Mickey"(well, nobody knows past the first verse anyway). Your best mate had a Soda Stream at home and you were jealous. Any elderly Scottish lady sounds like Supergran. You remember playing British Bulldog. When 'Computer' Tennis, Pac-Man and Donkey-Kong ruled. You remember hearing the tune then running out to buy an ice cream cone on a warm summer night - 99's, screwballs or a cider lolly. You got up extra early, especially to watch Saturday Morning cartoons. You were occasionally allowed to stay up late for Howard's Way, Dallas, Dynasty or Minder. Water balloons were the ultimate weapon. You remember when 25p was decent pocket money and you'd reach into a muddy gutter for 10p. Important decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo." Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better. Taking drugs meant orange-flavoured chewable aspirin. Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors. more

Resolved Question: yes yes i concede?

a couple of bits of magic in todays game between Aberdeen and Celtic, i thought we were worth a draw today, but i suppose the millions against the £100,000 players Celtic just pipped it today, but be warned calderwood is building a very good team at Aberdeen, just look at the last time when Aberdeen were the number one, the thing is remember when rangers and Celtic where buying the best players from the other teams and bringing though there own youth they where still no match for Aberdeen, then the forgin imports came into the game eps at the old firm to get the upper hand which they did, and the rest tryed to follow suit, but failed to keep up and got them selfs in sum serious debt, now the old firm are started to go down that route again because they cant sustain them selfs with forgin players because of the costs involved, so they have to buy the best from the rest and bring though there youth players, the gap is closing, okay Celtic are walking away with it this yearbut be warned Aberdeen, hibs, are starting to save Scottish football with there youth systems, they are building good teams, they do not buy success, they earn it with youth players coming though the system, these are the clubs that make scottish football strong WATCH THIS SPACE or do i speak crap lol...its the wine gee's a breakoh BYW jp you make a good point but tell me sumthing will those youth players ever get a game in the first team, i shale answer that question my self NO!!!!!!! they will disappear at the the wee diddy teams in the first division just like all those years ago , unlike at the like of Aberdeen and hibs, reserve football means nothing give these guys the chance to shine in the top team more

Resolved Question: for those that were born before 1986?

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 60's, 70's and early 80's probably shouldn't have survived.... Because our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based paint which was promptly chewed and licked. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, or latches on doors or cabinets and it was fine to play with pans. When we rode our bikes, we wore no helmets, just flip-flops and fluorescent 'spokey dokey's' on our wheels. As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or airbags - riding in the passenger seat was a treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle and it tasted the same. We ate chips, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy juice with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing. We shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and no-one actually died from this. We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went top speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long as we were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us and no one minded. We did not have Play stations or X-Boxes, no video games at all. No 99 channels on TV, no videotape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no DVDs, no Internet chat rooms. We had friends - we went outside and found them. We played elastics and rounders, and sometimes that ball really hurt! We fell out of trees, got cut, and broke bones but there were no law suits. We had full on fist fights but no prosecution followed from other parents. We played knock-the-door-run-away and were actually afraid of the owners catching us. We walked to friends' homes. We also, believe it or not, WALKED to school; we didn't rely on mummy or daddy to drive us to school, which was just round the corner. We made up games with sticks and tennis balls. We rode bikes in packs of 7 and wore our coats by only the hood. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of...they actually sided with the law. This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all, those of us who have had the luck to grow as real kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good. The majority of students in universities today were born in 1986........they are called youth. They have never heard of We are the World, We are the Children, and the Uptown Girl they know is by Westlife not Billy Joel. They have never heard of Rick Astley, Bananarama, Nena Cherry or Belinda Carlisle. To them John Travolta has always been round in shape and they can't imagine how this fat guy could be a god of dance. They believe that Charlie's Angels and Mission Impossible are films from last year. They can never imagine life before computers. They'll never have pretended to be the A-Team, Red Hand Gang or The Famous Five. They'll never have applied to be on Jim'll Fix It or Why Don't You? They can't believe a black and white television ever existed. And they will never understand how we could leave the house without a mobile phone. For them, there has always been only one Germany and one Vietnam. And Michael Jackson has always been white more
