Open Question: Gentle leader collar on dog?

My dog is very "alpha dog" to the point where it is impossible to even walk her outside to go to the bathroom. A friend suggested the gentle leader she uses it for her dog and says it makes a world of difference. When we first put it on her--she flipped out started pawing at it--she couldn't get it off but she pawed so much at her face she cut her gums up and was bleeding everywhere. I still have blood stains on my carpet. Next we tried some treats this went over a little bit better. Then we took her outside--my husband had the leash, my dog was draggin her face all over the concrete trying to get the thing off. After a while I took the leash she started to freak out still-- I gave her a command and within a few min she was walking fine still resisting a little bit. But I think she did fairly well. I am not sure what to do. My husband tried to walk her again this morning and the same thing happened. He normally walks her before he goes to work. I stay home with the baby I was still in bed. I am going to attempt to take her out in a few min. But I just wonder if my dog just totally does not respect my husband. Or if eventually through repetition she will just get used to the collar. We are not in a position to get training classes and she is a pit bull mix so if we took her to the humane society she would be put down. We have been told this would most likely be the case by the humane society. She is very dog and sometimes people aggressive so adopting her out is terrifying. We have tried ppl we know but no takers. I feel like this is our last resort until we are in a better place financially. Any advice on the gentle leader? how long does it normally take for dogs to get used to it? Like I said the first time I walked her she got used to it in a few minutes after I took the leash. But I think she may be resisting when my husband walks her.The gentle leader cost me $20. Training would cost at least $80 hr see the difference. Im sure I would need more than one hour. I am asking because its either this collar or I will have to give her up most likely to be put to sleep. Pits are not viewed to highly in my state. Sad but true. Also my husband makes less than $2000 month we have 2 kids in diapers therefore we don't have a whole lot of extra $$$ for dog training. I wish we did. Anyways I am looking for a solution to get her to stop lunging and trying to attack my neighbors. So far it is working fairly well-- I am just wondering why she won't let my husband walk her on it only me. more

Open Question: Puppy bad habit help?

I have a 7MO Lab/Pitt mix. He's a good boy. About 90% perfect. Two things he does wrong are, He doesn't come when called. I have him sit. I click and treat him, show him my treats, then let him off the leash down the beach with other dogs. He stays with the pack, but when we call him he doesn't even acknowledge us. He'll come back with the pack and get leased no prob, but I want him to listen to us. He also eats everything and I mean everything off the ground during walks. We startle say Leave it and click and treat. We've done it hundreds of times. He still trys to eat eveything off the ground. He doesn't do anything else wrong. Just those two things. Oh and He likes to dig holes in the backyard and my father gets pissed. Anything I can do to curb this. We have him in his second 8 week course with a local trainer. AKC certified. I can ask her, but I'm here now. Maybe someone has some ideas. We really try hard. He's a good boy, but just those little things. I don't think not coming when called is little. He ran in front of traffic last week and almost got hit. What if the coller breaks or the leash. He's just gonna run off. I do not like that. It makes me feel like he doesn't even like me. I've been with him for months. I feed him. I cuddle with him. I discipline him. I'm the pack leader. He knows it. He listenes to me. It just seems like he's too distracted to come when called. Maybe we gotta practice in the kitchen or backyard more. ThanksWell? This evil clicker training has given us a dog that has made a compelete 180. It's taugt us so much. I decided to consult a professional instead of just doing it by myself. I figure the doctor can do better than me and what I've read off the internet. So many people think they know. Hahahahhahahahahaahahahaha is all I say. Hahahahahahahahaha more

Open Question: Is democracy an illusion?

what must the Iraqis thought when they found out they were to be invaded by the son of the guy who was in charge during the last US /iraq war? Iraq ) So out of 350 million the best guy for the job is the son of the last republican guy U.S) Yeah thats right Coincidence is weird but he IS the BEST SMARTEST guy in the USA and im speaking from Britian where we have an unelected leader and were put into a european union (bunch of unelected guys making laws for us) without a voteSo im not singling out the USA its just a good example Anyway is democracy just an illusionKeiran your pretty much correct exept we have alot of parties in the UK The problem is the same as the US in that the left vote to keep the right out and vice versa so instead of voting for the party we want we vote for the party which is likly to beat the one we hate more

Open Question: does the Holy Ghost tell you God's thoughts and feelings?

I'll start off by saying that I am a Baptist Christian. Yesterday, I was in a calculus 2 class and a lady, who was also taking the class, came in and was discussing someone that she was a prophet. She later took a seat beside me and told me that "God said that it's going to be ok". Growing up in a baptist church, i heard sayings start off with "God said..." all the time. And honestly, I feel like if God wanted to tell me something, then God would of told me. I started asking questions such as: "What is her definition of a prohet?", she defined one as someone who has the Holy Spirit and a direct connection with God and who will tell prophets all things concerning the future. I believe that prophets are people that tell about the first coming of the Messiah. I also believe that God spoke to prophets in the Old Testament because there was no bible...but in the NewTestament, John the Baptist was a prophet and he had to "Make way"<-scripturial- for Jesus. SHe looked confused when I asked her "why were there not prophets in the New Testament?", and I later explained to her what i just explained to you. She seemed to have gotten upset(I wonder did God tell her that she was going to get upset?). But why is it that people feel as though God through the Holy Ghost will tell what comes out of God's mind? And if the Holy Ghost tells everything, why didn't the Holy Ghost tell church leaders of every council in history which doctrine to believe??<--stating that doctrine, throughout church history, has been changed for particular reasons. But why when God doesn't change? I trust that all will have mature and unbias answers. Please state your opinion. more

Open Question: Why do we persist in two wars that has cost a trillion and kill thousands of US troops?

Our Corrupt And Incompetent US Congress By Frosty Wooldridge 3-9-10 U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and U.S. Senate majority leader Harry Reid represent leadership incompetence at its zenith, its peak, its pinnacle. They prove the "Peter Principle" works at all levels in Western society whereby a person continues advancement until he or she reaches his or her highest level of incompetence. Once they ascend to that level, they cannot fulfill their job descriptions because they do not possess the intellectual or physical tools. Pelosi and Reid prove Mark Twain's famous saying, "Suppose you were an idiot; and suppose you were a member of Congress-ah, but I repeat myself." Those two incompetent people continue funding an absurd war in Iraq and Afghanistan while pretending that the 'surge' worked, or that the current 'surge' works in the latter country. Come on! The most powerful army in the world cannot stop the suicide bombings in Iraq weekly. They cannot stop 'insurgents' from transporting explosives into the country and blowing up Baghdad on a regular basis. They cannot stop the Taliban from maintaining itself in all of Afghanistan. They cannot stop the idea of 'terror' because they cannot stop the Islamic religion from flourishing its disciples worldwide. Yet, we import over 2,000 Muslims from the Middle East every 30 days! How much sense does that make? Our own Muslim immigrants make plans to blow us up in our own country as witnessed by the Denver bomber named Najibullah Zazi, an Afghan-born immigrant. Or, the Muslim U.S. Army Major Nadal Hasan. Or the nut cases in an FBI shootout in Detroit, Michigan that want to turn our country toward Sharia Law. Can't wait for the next incident, can you?! ALL THE WHILE, US BORDERS AS OPEN AS A 24 HOUR MALL So far in the Middle East, we suffered 4,000 U.S. soldier deaths and over 35,000 wounded in those two wars. How about the growing suicides of American soldiers? How about the 2.5 million Iraqi refugees? We've blown about $1 trillion on death and destruction. What do we have to show for it? Absolutely nothing! Little known to the U.S. public, after we killed 53,300 American troops in the fraudulent and bogus Vietnam War, another 150,000 to 175,000 military vets committed suicide after their service in that inane war. That's not to mention the twisted minds, divorces, fatherless children, and alcohol and drugs that eased the pains for millions of military veterans-but at a horrific price of addiction. Then, think of the millions of civilians in Vietnam that suffered more bombs than were dropped in WWII on Europe. And, Agent Orange that poisoned all of Vietnam for decades to cause birth defects and worse! http://www.rense.com/general90/corrupt.htm more

Open Question: Why did the nazis prepare a list of 100,000 polish leaders and intellectual prior to invading Poland?

what was their reason for preparing such a list and was it because the educated people in an invaded country presented some sort of threat? I also read somewhere that Hitler gave specific instructions to make sure nothing was done to bring Poland into any sort of normalcy economically. He specified that everything should be done to keep the now occupied Poland in as much economic chaos as as possible. why??? more

Open Question: christians: Please help! I'm losing hope in everything! :(?

I used to be so happy and carefree and always believed in God/Jesus...but now its all different. When i was younger, I did something really stupid that is making me doubt even I am a good person (and if I don't like myself, how can I be happy?) I won't go into detail here but if you look on my profile page, go to starred questions and look at "am i still normal even though i did this" and that was me on another account...I just can't believe I did that and discovered it by myself, so sometimes I wonder if I am just doomed to go to hell or something...good people don't do stuff like that...but if you can tell me anything redeeming about the situation and myself, that'd mean the world to me...just PLEASE don't say anything mean. also, something else is really creeping me out...I found out a Christian leader that taught me and my friends was a child molester and I can't stop thinking about that and how creepy it is and it just really freaks me out and its made me a lot sadder and stuff. Open Question: How do I stay calm in front CEOs at a professional interview? How should I act? What would impress them?

I'm 23 and in a couple weeks I'm auditioning to be a cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints. They don't just consider your dance technique and appearance, they want intelligent females that can handle themselves professionally. Although I've danced for years I'm nervous about the interview portion. I'm going to be in front of business leaders and CEOs from the New Orleans area who are going to ask me questions. I've taken a public speaking course, but that was just my peers, CEOs are another story. I'm so nervous about it. I know that's the worst thing, but I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for it now so I can handle the pressure. I know not to say, "um" at all and smile, but does anyone have more experience in this kind of situation? What would impress them? I really want to make a great impression. Thank you. :) more

Resolved Question: Is this a pretty original plot idea? Or is it cliche'?

Title: The War of the Ages Plot: All the children in the town petition the mayor to let children aged twelve and up to vote, and to let seventeen-year-olds and upwards to run for office. He accepts, humoring them. When the election rolls around, and they ( the children) actually win, almost all the adults, including the mayor, protest that they had not really expected her to win, and that they were only joking. Enraged, she and all the other children "secede" to one side of the town, claiming it as their own and fiercely protecting it. They also send out a letter to the state governor, begging that he allow them to "fight" for the mayorship. Thinking that they are pretending and that the media is trying to ridicule him, he consents and signs an approval. Elated with their success and released from their parents' guidance, they soon start making their own rules, i.e. lowering the legal driving age, drinking age, smoking age, firing the teachers and establishing their own school system etc., which all lead to disastrous results. After they experiment with this lifestyle, their leader (Ada Skidder), employs a system reminiscent of Communist beliefs/theories and she restricts Capitalism and free enterprise (supposedly "equalizing" the wealth). All this time, the adults and the children are feuding (physically and psychologically) over whose right it is to lead the town; added to this, all the events that transpire are being recorded and broad-casted nationwide by the media (though everyone in the town is aware of it). Eventually, after numerous conflicts, they arrange an official meeting and agree to stage a battle in which the winner will be immediately designated as the mayor. This battle is held in the form of a most curious competition; the ultimate game of flag football, upgraded to an enormously new level of complexity. After a day of grappling back and forth, Grandpa Marty captures the opposing side's (Ada's team) flag, using his brilliant understanding of battle tactics and lighting reflexes (not really). After this, Ada grudgingly agrees that she is not capable of managing the town effectively and that being an adult and acting maturely isn't as easy as it seems. At the end, she vaguely makes clear her desire to someday run for public office; preferably President, but if not, Secretary of State will suffice. She also relinquishes her argument that college corrupts the minds of otherwise "free-thinkers". I got this (plot) mainly from what we are currently studying in history and below are a few notable events that happen in my book and particular things that allude to events in history: The grocery store, right in the center of the town, is the only store that sells just about everything; so this is the neutral zone for both "camps": historical aspect, Switzerland (it remained neutral during World War II, I think . . .) They free their "brethren" from juvenile hall: storming the Bastille They all try to become nocturnal (produces some funny results) : the French Revolution (French Republican Calendar, but that was just the inspiration) And there are other examples, but I fear this is getting too long. Also, this a political, economical, societal, etc. satire and comedy, concerning both current and past political, economical, etc. But, it does contain some serious themes (i.e. drugs, smoking, drinking, etc. are bad) and that, more often than not, we (teenagers) really don't know what we're talking about when it comes to making decisions that will affect other. So, is this too cliche'? Thanks!Well, back to the drawing board; but I think I already have an idea how to circumvent those plot holes. Thanks, everyone! P.S. It isn't really supposed to be realistic, and I'll definitely read Animal Farm (George Orwell, right?) to see where my plot is similar. Again, thanks!I was kind of thinking about that (national uprising), but I wasn't sure if I should make it so, immense, I suppose you would say. But anyway, it is definitely now a consideration. Thanks. more

Open Question: What's the process of switching to active duty?

I'm a 19D (Cav Scout) in the National Guard. I'm wanting to switch to active duty. I was wanting to know what the process of making the switch is, and all the major rules that apply. Most specifically, can I do it mid-contract? Before you just tell me to contact my team leader, the majority of my unit that isn't deployed is kind of retarded. A big reason why I want to switch. more

Open Question: Who is better Lebron or Kobe?

I think Lebron. I go my stats and characteristics. Lebron has better stats, he's a better leader. and hes basically a better athlete. I don't want to hear "how many rings does lebron have?" because it takes "team" work to win a championship and im asking on an individual basis. I also dont care about Kobe's buzzer beaters because if that's what makes him better than Lebron, then I could name dozens of basketball players that nail buzzer beaters that you could also say are better than Lebron. I'm only asking this because recently I've heard stuff about how Kobe dominates the league, but I don't agree. My view: #1: Lebron. #2: Wade. #3 Kobe more

Open Question: I wrote this...Quick read, some criticism please?

Prologue It's my mother's fault I'm dead. Well, that's not entirely true. I'm dead in a sense, but not completely. You see, when I was born to her, she was a member of the cult "Death's Associates". She was a worshiper of death in hope that he would love her and the rest of the cult more and would have mercy on them so that they would not die. How stupid they were. Death doesn't know what love or mercy are. All he knows is greed and pain. Even being a small child I was not so ignorant, but my mother was caught up in it all, or rather, brainwashed. She was like a robot, following the orders of the leader not steeping out of line, never speaking her opinion. I'm not sure she even had one anymore. For as long as I can remember the leader and his priests told everyone what to do. When I was younger, and still had a will of my own, I broke the rules by asking why the leader was in charge. I was promptly beaten, but still had not learned my lesson. A few years later I asked my mother who my father was. She sat me on her knee and patted down my big blonde curls. "Juliet," she began, "Your father is a very important man. He gave me the privilege of producing new life, which he and I knew was very dangerous." I turned my head to the side and played with her silver bracelet. "But why is it dangerous?" "Death is not a fan of life. We must abide to his wishes if we are to hope to gain the gift of immortality." "My Dad had the power to defy death?" My mother's face became dark. She looked around our hut and outside our window to make sure no one was listening. Or watching. Then she whipped her head around and slapped me. "Don't talk like that again! If death hears you and thinks that we are arrogant enough to assume we are above him, he'll smite us all!" I began to cry and she dumped me off her lap. "Go help the other girls collect water now Juliet. I don't have time for your stupidity right now. Pray Death doesn't drown you when you lean over the bank." I stopped crying and picked myself up. What would she care if Death drowned me? She'd rejoice because it wasn't her it happened to she would! I didn't drown though. I drew the water from the stream and brought it back to our hut so that we could bathe. My mother didn't thank me or acknowledge that I had come home. She didn't apologize for smacking me earlier, so I didn't apologize for saying what I had. She still hadn't answered my question either. In fact, after that incedent, we pretty much ignored each other for the next 6 months. We went about our lives, doing our chores, worshiping in the temple, and going to school. Then I turned eight. The leader of our cult had a vision of the apocalypse. He told us the only way to appease Death, he told us that a sacrifice must be found. A human sacrifice. My mother did nothing to stop them from taking me. She probably thought it would make Death more fond of her. Idiot. They, the cult members, took me to a great stone that had been placed in the center of our community. I remember the strange shapes carved into it, possibly some ancient language. Possible chisel marks. I remember the feel of gravel under my back as I was dragged out of my hut in the middle of the night. But most of all, I remember the silence. Nobody stepped forward and told our leader that they thought he was crazy, no one tried to rescue me. My mouth was gagged so I certainly couldn't say anything. Two of the leaders most honored priests held my arms and legs so tightly I thought they would break. And then I was tied down onto the stone. A shiver ran down my back at the cold of the rock. I began to cry but my sobs were muffled by the rag. Not that crying solved the matter. The leader and his goons began to circle me chanting in a strange language that would start the rite. Then they stopped. The leader pulled out a long, sharp knife. It glinted in the sunlight casting an eerie shine to his face. The leader knelt down beside my neck and raised it. And then he brought it down. Chapter 1 "No. No more. You can't make me." "Yes I can Juliet," Death whispered in my ear, running a bony finger across the scar on my neck. "I control you. You are mine. Forever." A tear ran down my cheek. I didn't want to. I hated doing Death's dirty work. I hated the look on my victim's faces right before I murdered them. The look of betrayal. I was supposed to be their friend, wasn't I? Why was I pushing them in front of the train? Why was I smothering them? The answer was, I had to. Death made me. But I couldn't tell them that. They were dead before the question could pass their lips. "This is the last one though. Okay?" I asked quietly. "Possibly... forever is a long time, I might just change my mind." Death slipped into the shadows that surrounded me, only his scythe could be seen gleaming in the dark."It's a young one this time. You're going to be about five, so I suggest not murdering them. It will make the humans suspicious, and we don't want another Tampa indecent. Do we?" I shook my head slowly. "Good. Now get out of my sight." He turned and left. I slowly started to dematerialize , one particle at a time. I closed my white eyes as my eyelashes turned into a glittery dust and went to wherever dust was sending me. I secretly hoped that this wasn't my last assignment. I desperately wanted to be the one to murder the man who was the leader of the cult "Death's Associates" and if it wasn't me, I wanted to watch. It's supposed to be, and went wherever Death was sending me. not wherever dust was sending me.Yes Cocao, she's gonna kill the kid. She's gonna go back to death, and then she's going to be sent on her final assignment. To a high school. :) She'll be set free after this one, but there's one little problem... She's in love with her victim. At the end ... OHMYGOSH the ending I already wrote it, and it ROCKS! I have this huge plot twist in the middle, where...well, you'll find out. more

Open Question: How does this beginning sound? Quick spooky read?

Wrote this in a half hour, and edited it a bit, but its still pretty rough. CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS PLEASE!!! I WANNA GET BETTER!!! "Possibly... forever is a long time, I might just change my mind." Death slipped into the shadows that surrounded me, only his scythe could be seen gleaming in the dark. "It's a young oIt's a young one this time. I desperately wanted to be the one to murder the man who was the leader of the cult "Death's Associates" and if it wasn't me, I wanted to watch. more

Open Question: How do I concentrate on reading?

I just started reading Lord Of The Flies, and I can't concentrate at all. I read the first chapter, but didn't get anything out of it. Only the few things I read over 1,000 times, but most of the time I just wanted to get the just of it and did some speed reading. But I don't like doing that. At a normal pace, if I can concentrate, I read at about 1 minute a page, or less (less as in 30 seconds or more, but usually never exceeding a minute unless I can't concentrate). I have what I'd like to call "depersonalization" (if you've never heard of it, google). I'm not saying this officially, but this is the only way I can describe it. EVERYDAY for a year or so, I've had this unreal feeling. Most of the time I can ignore it, but sometimes, like now, it just smacks me in the face. I honestly don't feel like I'm typing because I want to right now. I'm "thinking" of the words, and my fingers move. I'm actually supposed to go to the therapist/psychiatrist/something to figure it out, among other things. But for now, I want to read. I'm actually reading another book, and I didn't have a lot of problems with concentration. Although there was here and there when I had to read things over to grasp it. But for the most part, if I don't think about it, it just happens. But with LOTF, I can't. My mind is going, and the words are floating in the air. Half of the time I just gave up and started skimming paragraphs. So far I got: -The boy with fair hair, 12 years old, Ralph, Apparently he's ok with being naked. -Piggy (what was his real name?) Asthma, glasses, unpopular. -They meet (although I'm not sure why or how...) -They are apparently stranded on an island, and one of their dads is in the navy. They think he's going to rescue them, something about a bomb too. -They find a conch -Ralph fails at blowing it a few times -It finally works, and people show up -There's this boy with red hair and freckles, jack. -The group of people that show up decide to make Ralph the leader, making jack a bit frustrated, but he also has a "shy" liking with Ralph. And then the rest is blurred... Something about creepers? Blood? Candles? A knife jammed into a tree? Blurred. I tell you, I missed out on most of it. The details I wrote were small things I remembered that were scattered through 6 pages or so. Chapter 1 is about 30 pages. Is it because it's a school assignment to read it? But I really do want to read it. more

Resolved Question: ramadan : what are the virtues of the family of muhammad (saw) ?

The family members of Rasulallah (saw) were the true friends and well wishers of the people who felt strong grief when they saw people in any kind of distress or suffering. They worked hard to restore the rights of the deprived and gave all their belongings to the needy. The family members of Rasulallah (saw) were always ready to face hardships in order to save others. Sometimes, they would even give to the needy the food or clothing which they themselves urgently needed. There are many of such happenings that took place in the life of our religious leaders. For instance, once Imam Ali's (as) children [Imam Hasan (as) and Imam Husayn (as)] were sick. Their mother Fatima al-Zahra (sa), daughter of Rasulallah (saw), vowed (Nazr) to fast three days on the recovery of her children, in thanksgiving to Allah (SWT). Imam Ali (as) and the children all joined Fatima al-Zahra (sa) in thanksgiving. All of them fasted. It was sunset and they had only a few barley loaves of bread for their breakfast. As they were about to eat their food, someone knocked at their door, saying I am a poor man. Please give me some food. The food, which the whole family had, was very little. They gave it all to the poor man. Again on next day, when the family wanted to break their fast an orphan began knocking at the door asking for food. The same thing happened on the third day also with a stranger. Each time they gave their food to the needy and they, themselves, remained hungry continuing their fast. Muslim commentators say, The next day, Rasulallah (saw) came to the family with these verses of the Noble Qur'an: "Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor, a fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. And they give food out of love for Allah to the poor and the orphan and the captive: We only feed you for Allah's sake. We desire from you neither reward nor thanks: Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. Therefore, Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; And reward them because they were patient, with garden and silk." Open Question: 4 month old great dane showing fearfulness and aggression?

Hi purchased a 4 month old great dane puppy Sunday today is Tuesday he came from a reputable breeder and has been socialized with small children, cats, other dogs, cows you name it. the breeder talks very highly of the puppies. Sunday when I got him he acted timid and scared and the whole point of me getting him was to be therapy certified both of his parents are loving and affectionate adult dogs with a sweet disposition. He was scared to get out of the car we had to pick him up he was scared to go through the door in tnto the house had to pick him up since everything was all new to him. Finally me and my Gf started playing with him and he was fine just followed her everywhere and would whine when she would leave the room hes been pottying outside and can sit and lay down walks well on a leash. Monday I picked up my 4 year old son and my gf had the puppy outside he came up to us and everything was fine he met my son for the first time and was licking his hands then he coward in between my gf legs and my son gently pet his back and I noticed when he was walking over to him he was growling and when my son pet him he howled and cried and growled it seemed at one time and of course scared my son and my gf took the dog inside then my son stayed with me until I unloaded groceries and I went into the living room while my son was using the restroom and he was beside my gf feet and started a deep growl at me!! She corrected him and when my son came out of the bathroom he growled at him in a way he could attack so then I put my son upstairs and a movie came back down he growled at least 4 more times at me and she corrected it everytime then he would come up to me when I was sitting down acting just fine but following my Gf around and whining when she was not present. I called my breeder that night terrified that he might bite one of us at only 4 months he shouldnt be acting like this. She was very surprised and not so happy about it shes been breeding for 10 yrs and not once had a puppy act like this. SHe said since he was an older pup maybe he is depressed and feeling sensitive but she said danes dont tend to be aggressive especially since he was well socialized he never growled at his litter mates, 2 yr old child, or the 8 year old child she said she had a 15 week female that she would swap if I wanted from a diffrent litter and has an outgoing personality and isnt fearful. That if I wanted to give him a couple of days that she would even work with him if we didnt want the female or refund the money. She also said to have me get him on a leash and make him stay by my side and have my son easily work with him as well under supervision hes picking my gf as the leader since shes there more than me. So we had 3 friends come over last night and he hid behind my gf's feet scared the whole time and fine with the females but growled at the male and he wasnt scared so he scooted a toy with his foot and the GD puppy went to bite him and growled and then growled 3 more times that night at him..so this morning me and my son went to get him out of the crate and he growled at my son again I in a deep stern voice said no and he didnt do it again my son gave him a treat although he was pacing and and whining I believe it was bc my Gf was asleep and wasnt in his sight but he went up to my son and me we all played and took the pup out for potty and he was fine although my son sat in his new john deer toy vehicle and the dog was barking at him. I dont know what to do but I believe its in our best intrest to get the female or work with this one since he is so timid and showing signs of aggressivness??? Im just concerned I dont want him to bite nobody and we corrected him each time by pulling the skin on the back of his neck but it doesnt phase him also in his crate which he has been crate trained since he was born whines, bited the cage, barks, howls, sings in it and finally goes to sleep. I just have never had a puppy act like this I have trained neapolitan mastiffs which were difficult and boxers since I was 10 never had a problem this dog only listens to my gf and she dont know to train very well and original plan was for me to help her train him and now he wont even listen to me only her. more

I can't remember. Say, the leader of a town said that everyone has to start wearing black shirts everyday, and they have a week to ensure that they wear black shirts. And after that week, you will get kicked out of town for not having a black shirt on. However, the day after making the announcement (before the week time period has expired), he sees someone wearing a green shirt. He proceeds to kick them out. Open Question: What does Islamic Leader of Chicago Farrakhan Think Of Rahm Emanuel the Jew?

Farrakhan hates Jews, hates Christians. Lets think about this, yet Farrakhan calls Obama the MESSIAH to his cult followers every week. Obama is supposed to be a Christian? Farrakhan is a Muslim. Farrakhan recently said Christians are praying Obama dies- but Rev Wright is buddies with Farrakhan, Obama said Rev Wright was a Christian ? Nothing here makes SENSE! Farrakhan is Friends with Fidel Castro, Chavez and Chavez and Castro are friends with Ahamadinajad. WHAT IS GOING ON?Is Obama and Rahm faking their religion? Or is Farrakhan just a total nut case? Or is Rev Wrights church really Muslims pretending to be Christians? It DOESN'T ADD UP? Why would MalcolmX be Obamas HERO- according to Obamas books and words? Malcolm was a Muslim- Christians are attacked by Muslims- Christians are being attacked by the left wingers most the time.. Who is Obama? more

Open Question: Are you afraid? Would you?

Well, I basically have no friends where I live because I'm not rich yet I don't care. I'm with my church and I like my youth group. I'm going somewhere in the summer for a week to help people. Well because I do this is the reason I don't have many friends where I live. I actually have none a few I did have moved sadly. The other one is in the hospitable all the time. Not many teens my age like me because I like to help people and I stick up for people. I'm liked by many adults because I do what is right. NO I'm not a tattletale. But they like me for my attitude towards things and how I stick up for people. But as I said where I live it's the rich kids that moved here and only a few remain that aren't rich. Yet What makes rich and Poor kids different? Money isn't everything I should know. It feels good when we go help someone. I work too and I'm only 14 unlike many kids where I live. I sometimes get friends that use me. Everyone seems to like my older brother for some kind of reason. Everyone thinks he's hot. I DO NOT! LOL P.S. I know what hard work is but they don't. Would you go with the crowd? Or would your be your own leader? Are you Afraid of what others think? What makes rich and poor people different besides the money? What's your opinion? To the second answer first off I do not have many friend where I live because of all the Damn RIch kids. Yea I not rich but I'm asking you are you afraid to stand up? So please I don't think you know what anything's like. I was born here and these people moved here. My friends moved out. My bro will kill me if I hanged out with him all the time Damn I don't think you have an older brother and last time I did I got friends that just wanted to get to my bro.I don't mark Ashley off my friends list I'm just saying I don't get to see my friend all the time I go to the hospitable but she lives about 45- hour away sadly. She used to live right down the street but her parents broke up and now she lives with her mom. I never get to see her... Sometimes. I miss her so much. She's a true friend but i feel bad because she's been in the hospitable since Christmas. more

Open Question: Christians: Sharing Jesus when you are not social?

The more I am getting closer to God, the more I realize that I need to start sharing His Word and getting out what He wants me to do- helping Him save people. I've tried to avoid it, because, in the past, I've come across as being hypocritical and judgmental. I don't know how to really share God's Word and help people to know Him better without them feeling like I am pushing it on them too much. I have found, that in the past, the results of my attempts to do God's work has done the complete opposite of what I was wanting to accomplish. I am very hesitant to do this again. Yes, I am shy. I don't like to be around people. I would much rather just be by myself and God. I like being alone with Him. I know this is what He wants me to do, though. It feels really awkward to talk to anyone and try to persuade them to do something or believe something, as it is. To try and persuade them that Jesus loves them and that He is the only way to Heaven is a big obstacle for me. I am not a leader. I am a follower. I'm making sure that I am not being hypocritical or judgmental this time. Sometimes, I wish I could be a good speaker or more outgoing, but this is me. Boring, quiet, shy, introverted me. It would be a lot easier if I had support, but there is none around me. I know no one that is 'really' doing this or will support me. I feel so alone. I am praying about this and I know that God is with me and He will show me, but I'd figure I'd ask on here, too. How are some ways that I can share the Good News of Jesus Christ without feeling like I'm going to pass out? Thanks! Please, refrain from leaving any mean comments. Thanks! Go pick on someone else. Thanks to everyone! Thank you Jim for the encouragement! I feel better now. : ) more

Open Question: Old people who run the world... should we do something about it?

I can't help but feel that the people who run the world (mainly, but not limited to, government/politics) are too old and can't seem to get with the times or understand the mainstream public, so to speak. It's true that "the older, the wiser", but wouldn't aged people make better advisors instead of actual leaders? What if we did something about this, say for example, set a MAXIMUM age limit for political office (albeit not too low)? What would be the consequences? Please don't antagonize me. I just want to hear everyone's views. more

Open Question: world history please help need essay help?

Okay here is my world history essay it is a continuation and changes over time essay would you please tell me if the essay is good or what I need to add to it From 1000 to 500 B.C.E three groups inhabited the Roman region; they were the Latin’s, Greeks, and Etruscans. The Latin’s considered to be the first Romans built the original settlement atop Palatine Hill. From the time of Rome being ruled by Etruscans kings to the collapse of the western empire to Attila the Hun, despite the numerous government changes from a monarchy to a republic to an empire, Rome was persistent to strive to prosper and expand their empire no matter the government or ruling force in power. During the time of earliest Rome settlers Rome was dominated by the Etruscans, a group of skilled metalworkers and engineers. Around 600 B.C.E an Etruscan came to power. In the decades that followed, Rome grew from a collection of hilltop villages to a city that covered nearly 500 square miles. Various kings ordered the construction of Rome’s first temples and public centers. The last king of Rome was Tarquin the Proud. A harsh tyrant, he was driven from power in 509 B.C.E Throughout the time 1000 to 31 B.C.E Rome went through several political changes. In 509 B.C.E Rome overthrew Tarquin the Proud and vowed they would never again be ruled by a kind. Instead, they established a republic, from the Latin phrase res publica, which means “public affairs.” A new era was born. The margin of social classes between the plebeians and patricians was great. Originally the plebeians were barred from holding important government positions, but that soon changed with the new era. In time Rome’s leaders allowed the plebeians to form their own assembly and elect representatives called tribunes to protect the rights of the plebeians. Tribunes were important because they protected the rights of the plebeians from unfair acts of patrician officials. Under Etruscans rule there was one autocrat how had total control. In the Roman republic there was two officials called consuls. Like kings, they commanded the army and directed the government, however their power was limited and a consul’s term was only one year. This made it so two people were at charge at the executive position unlike a king who had total control one consul could always overrule, or veto the other’s decision. During the time of Tarquin the proud there was no legislative or judicial branch. This change was important because the executive position was not the most powerful. During the Roman Republic the senate was always the most powerful group, only the assembly could approve or disapprove of one of their laws and only the assembly elected candidates for the office of consul this created a basic system of balance. For the period of the Roman Republic there was an aristocratic branch called the senate, a centuriate assembly consisting of citizen-soldiers who selects consuls and make laws. Later, plebeians were allowed in the senate the Tribal Assemble, an assemble organized by the plebeians elected the tribunes and made laws for the common people and the republic itself in time. Unlike monarchy Rome the Roman republic had a legal code the Twelve Tables written by a decemirivi in 451 B.C.E, the Twelve Tables. Prior to this with laws unwritten patrician officials often interpreted the law to suit themselves. This was important because the Twelve Tables protected the rights of plebeians and established the idea that all free citizens had a right to the protection of the law. Despite the numerous political changes, Rome had maintained some continuity throughout its history. The Roman senate still existed despite having being an inferior power to the emperor during the Roman Empire. The senate remained the last stronghold of the traditional Roman religion in the face of spreading Christianity. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the senate continued to function under the barbarian chieftain Odoacer, and then under Ostrogothic rule. Even though Rome was a republic at one point they still had somebody in charge of the executive position. As a republic Rome had two consuls and acted as kings they commanded the army and directed the government. However, under a republic the consuls powers was limited and the other consul could always veto the others decision unlike a king who had sole power. Rome always had a form of civil system. This was important because this meant that the government had citizens construct Rome’s temples and public centers the most famous of which was the Forum, the heart of Roman political life. Despite all the political changes the eastern empire experienced the western empire was able to maintain most of the eastern empire original laws and ideas, such as the Twelve Tables. From the time of Tarquin the Proud to the collapse the western empire to Germanic tribes. Although Rome experienced many political changes they maintained some continuity. To this day the United more

Open Question: Can someone please proof read my paper?

To any Muslim, be it in the current face of modern revelation or the beginning of its time Islam tries to stay as closely to the original "Islam" that was revealed. The Qur'an has never been altered and as Muslims, we are supposed to live as close to the way of the Prophets (peace be upon them) as possible. Islam, in simple words, describes the action of “The Muslim”. That action is finding peace by submitting one's self to the Will of Allah (GOD). In order to understand Islam and the actions of Muslims, one needs to know “What is the Will of Allah?” It is the words of Allah which He gave to mankind from the very beginning, i.e. “there is none worthy of worship but Allah.” He orders us to follow the word of Allah and along with His Messengers in our daily lives so that we would be successful. These required actions are put under the Arabic word “Sharia,” which means a system of Divine Laws. Sharia can also be broadly classified under Religious Laws, Political Laws, Economic Laws and Social Laws. “The term Sharia means “path” to water and in a desert, the path to water is vital. Similarly, for Muslims Sharia is the path by which we live. Our whole lives are laid out by this law from the first breath we take in the morning, to the last at night; from the moment we are born, until we die. (Vriens) The Quran is considered by the Muslims as an over-ruling source of the Sharia Laws of God (Allah) above any other, which contains Religious, Political, Economic and Social Laws. These Laws were perfected and only given to the Human Society when it reached the peak of its Maturity. Most of the Laws in Quran are the same as they were given to the previous Messengers (Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus) along with some new wisdom and guidance for the end of times. Allah says in the Holy Quran: And this Qur'an is not such as could ever be produced by other than Allah (Lord of the heavens and the earth), but it is a confirmation of (the revelation) which was before it [i.e. the Taurat (Torah), and the Injeel (Gospel)], and a full explanation of the book (i.e. laws, decreed for mankind)—wherein there is no doubt—from the Lord of the ʼAlamin (mankind, jinn, and all that exists). (Quran, Chapter #10, Verse #37) During the time when Islam began there was no form of community life in the Middle East It was nomadic and tribal. The only thing that brought Bedouins together was common ancestry and the worship of Idols. Islam brought a monotheistic message that Allah was the only one that they should worship and be submissive to. Not only did Islam bring a sense of community, it brought with it a way of life. Laws had to be implemented, and Sharia came into place. After the death of Muhammad, Sharia continued to undergo fundamental changes, beginning with the reigns of Caliphs Abu Bakr (632–34) and Umar (634–44), in which many decision making matters were brought to the attention of Muhammad's closest comrades for consultation. In AD 662, during the reign of Muawiya b. Abu Sufyan ibn Harb, life ceased to be nomadic and undertook an urban transformation that created matters not originally covered by Islamic law. Every change of Islamic society has played an active role in developing Sharia, which branches out into Fiqh, which is Islamic Jurisprudence. Rightly guided Caliphs became the leaders of the Ummah( Community). They were not recipients of the Devine relation from God, but they had the full authority in interpret laws. When the Umayyad dynasty came into place, their caliphs did not have the same authority as the pervious caliphs. Some of their caliphs diverged and started to teach and preach Islam independently. There was no longer a central authority that could unite Muslims. The Umayyad dynasty set a new trend and various schools of interpretations developed. Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi, and Hanbali schools were formed by scholars and named after them. (Quran Surah 45 ...then we gave you a Sharia in religion, follow it, and do not follow the lust of those who do not know.) “The majority of Sunni Muslims believe that all four schools have correct guidance and the differences between them lie in judgments’ and jurisprudence which are a result of independent reasoning of the imams and scholars who followed them. Because of their methodologies of interpretations and extrications from the sources were different, they came to decision on particular matters”. (Which Madhab (School of Thought) to follow? ) Teachings (Hadiths) of Prophet Muhammad are also considered to be part of Sharia Laws as he was sent as a Messenger or Representative of Allah to preach His words, i.e. Quran, and to present an exemplary model of a perfect society based on those teachings of the Lord and all His previous Messengers which would most definitely be better than any other way of life. It is He who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam) (Quran in the Sharia, crimes can be broken down into three major categorie more

Resolved Question: What feeling does it signify when my dog whines when i make her stop barking?

I'm working with a trainer to get over her fear aggression. Basically my 6 month cane corso has the fear aggression because I've been too nice to her and haven't established myself as a strong pack leader. She used to bark at every noise she heard outside. I have been growling at her and praising when she stops barking. Shes catching on that its not ok to bark but she cries when i correct the behavior. She stops the barking, looks at me, then paces near me and whines. Does this signify that she is still scared?Growling, or grunting. The trainer said that this is how a higher ranking dog in a pack would correct lower ranking dogs. It doesn't have to be a growl, just any deep noise like a growl, or a grunt, or a "uh-uh!" more

Open Question: Isn't odd that the "left" and the "right" have exactly the same view of the U.S. War on Drugs?

Mother Jones ran an article today that detailed the fact that U.S. War on Drugs is ineffective and primarily hurts minorities while being ineffective. The arguments made in this article were very similar to the argument Ron Paul was making against the U.S. War on Drugs at the Tavis Smiley Republican debates in 2008. What do you think?? Is this a "bipartisan" change that both wings of the political spectrum could agree on?? Ron Paul Calls for End to Drug War http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8S8N2OG7sU http://motherjones.com/politics/2010/03/new-jim-crow-war-on-drugs Ever since Barack Obama lifted his right hand and took his oath of office, pledging to serve the United States as its 44th president, ordinary people and their leaders around the globe have been celebrating our nation's "triumph over race." Obama's election has been touted as the final nail in the coffin of Jim Crow, the bookend placed on the history of racial caste in America. Obama's mere presence in the Oval Office is offered as proof that "the land of the free" has finally made good on its promise of equality. There's an implicit yet undeniable message embedded in his appearance on the world stage: this is what freedom looks like; this is what democracy can do for you. If you are poor, marginalized, or relegated to an inferior caste, there is hope for you. Trust us. Trust our rules, laws, customs, and wars. You, too, can get to the promised land...................................There is, of course, a colorblind explanation for all this: crime rates. Our prison population has exploded from about 300,000 to more than 2 million in a few short decades, it is said, because of rampant crime. We're told that the reason so many black and brown men find themselves behind bars and ushered into a permanent, second-class status is because they happen to be the bad guys. The uncomfortable truth, however, is that crime rates do not explain the sudden and dramatic mass incarceration of African Americans during the past 30 years. Crime rates have fluctuated over the last few decades—they are currently are at historical lows—but imprisonment rates have consistently soared. Quintupled, in fact. And the vast majority of that increase is due to the War on Drugs. Drug offenses alone account for about two-thirds of the increase in the federal inmate population, and more than half of the increase in the state prison population. more

Resolved Question: What do you think about these 2 prominent feminists' statement, regarding family?

1/ Betty Friedan, founder of NOW, referred to traditional family life as a "comfortable concentration camp" from which women needed liberation. 2/ Sheila Cronan, one of the feminist movements most respected leaders and spokeswomen said, "Since marriage constitutes slavery for women, it is clear that the women's movement must concentrate on attacking marriage." ***************************************** Beginning in the 1960s and 1970s they launched an all-out assault on our nation's time-honored laws protecting the marriage union. Divorce was presented as an easy way out for the frustrated, disappointed or adventuresome. Mel Krantzler, writing in Creative Divorce, stated: "To say goodbye is to say hello ... hello to a new life - to a new, freer, more self-assured you. Hello to new ways of looking at the world and of relating to people. Your divorce can turn out to be the very best thing that ever happened to you." That was a widely held professional opinion for almost a decade. Within a few years, they and their Radical Left allies succeeding in overturning all fifty of the nation's "fault" divorce statutes and replacing them with what is called no-fault divorce. It was understood as an effort to secure for women the economic, political and social rights and protections that men have always enjoyed. A spate of pseudo-scientific studies assured parents that children were resilient and would recover quickly from the effects of divorce. In their zeal they also stripped away from women, especially mothers with children, many of the economic and legal protections they had historically enjoyed in this nation, thus creating a whole new underclass in American society: the abandoned housewife. The number of displaced homemakers rose twenty-eight percent between 1975 and 1983 to more than three million women. Another twenty percent increase from 1983 to 1988 brought that number to more than four million. An astonishing sixty-one percent of those women suddenly left alone had children under the age of ten at home. Often without job skills and stranded without alimony or child support, as many as seventy percent of these women make less than ten thousand dollars a year, and fifty percent are employed at minimum wage or less. It is, thus, readily apparent why a full seventy-five percent of all Americans living below the poverty line in the United States are women and their children. Open Question: god is imaginary and I will explain why?

1. god was simply invented by uneducated religious people to help explain the things that made no sense to them. As time went on and science was more and more tolerated all of the religious theories were proven false and so religion became useless and stupid 2. god is used as leader of the imaginary military. basically god provides an assurance to people who pray to god that he will protect them. god was invented by these uneducated people's as a means that if something bad happens to them that a magic man will make it okay. This then leads to people becoming extremely lazy and doing nothing to solve their problems, which then leads to prayers. 3. god is a philisophical idea with absolutely no proof. god is not physically real, god is just an idea. This idea was invented when people didn't understand rain, so they invented a god of rain. Eventually what it boils down to is that religion is just a philisophical idea brewed up by people who didn't understand science, who wanted assurance and protection, and were trying to understand why people did things. more

Open Question: Do you think it's outrageous for Japan to request Australian authority to do this?

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20100306/tts-australia-japan-whaling-79adaf4.html Australia police search anti-whaler ship at Japan request AFP - Saturday, March This December 14 photo released by the Sea Shepherd Society shows the Sea Shepherd's M/Y Steve Irwin (foreground) chasing the Japanese harpoon vessel Shonan Maru No 2 in a high speed pursuit in the seas off Antarctica. Australian police boarded and searched 'Steve Irwin' at the request of Japanese authorities on Saturday after activists cut short their annual campaign and returned to port. SYDNEY (AFP) - – Australian police boarded and searched an anti-whaling ship at the request of Japanese authorities on Saturday after activists cut short their annual harassment campaign and returned to port. Police said they searched the Steve Irwin after it docked in Hobart, Tasmania, but refused to reveal the reasons for the search warrant or what they found on board. "As a result of a formal referral from Japanese authorities, the Australian Federal Police can confirm it conducted a search warrant in boarding the Steve Irwin this morning," a police spokesman said. "As enquiries are ongoing, it's not appropriate to comment any further." The Steve Irwin, flagship of the Sea Shepherd conservation group, curtailed its harassment activities around the Antarctic, which involve blocking the Japanese whalers' path and hurling rancid butter at the controversial fleet. A high-tech powerboat brought into the fray by the activists for the first time was dramatically scythed in two during a confrontation in January. The boat's captain later boarded a Japanese ship trying to make a citizen's arrest of the captain and hand over a three million US dollar bill. He remains in Japanese custody. Bob Brown, leader of Australia's Green party, condemned the move and said at least five police had boarded the ship. "This is outrageous that Australian police are at the disposal of the Japanese whale killers," he said. Diplomatic tensions have flared between Australia and Japan after Prime Minister Kevin Rudd pledged court action unless Tokyo agrees to phase out its hunts. The two sides are currently locked in intense talks at the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in Florida. Japan kills hundreds of whales each year in the name of research using a loophole in a 1986 moratorium. Despite the group's difficulties, the Sea Shepherd has said this year has been their best yet and had reduced the Japanese haul by half, costing the whalers between 70 and 80 million US dollars. "This year's been our most successful campaign ever, we've shut them down for more days this year than ever before," Watson told AFP earlier. "We've cost them their profits now for five years in a row. "Our objective always is to bankrupt them, to sink them economically and I think if we keep this kind of pressure on we will succeed in doing that. The only reason they're continuing is I think out of sheer stubbornness." HEY! Aussie....Why do you have to obey their request..are you all afraid of the Japanese...their YEN or you dont care about the whale? Come on what happening down there..truly speaking I am very very disappointed with your police reaction..What your say?Good input Tamara...now at least I am hearing some negative feedbacks about this sea shepard.. more

Open Question: Radical Islam, Nazi parrallels...antichrist.....?

I was talking to a friend earlier about a lot of things, but we had som questions about radical islam... What is their mission... to kill Jews and annihilate the west coast? or what And I saw some videos on the internet, (http://www.obsessionthemovie.com/trailer-12min.php), and they get kids as young as 7 and 8 to fully believe everything and to blow themselves up for the cause. DANG, it looks alot like Nazi Germany So we were thinkin like, Everybody way back when thought Hitler was the antichrist because he killed a lot of Jews and tried to take over/ destroy Europe These radical Islams hate, and want to kill/persecute all the Jews and take over/ destroy the West so..., like if they had a leader who was smart, charismatic, Powerful, whatever, and they could expand their operation, then something like Nazi Germany could repeat itself, maybe. And with a powerful leader like Hitler (who people thought was the antichrist, or at least a prequel/sign of what to come, of the antichrist) he could be the antichrist... idk, that was the result of boredum and puzzle piece putting together but does any of that make any sense, or is it nonesense? more

Open Question: I need help naming my essay!?

My persuasive essay is about leadership in the movie Remember the Titans. It answers the question: Who is a better leader? Coach Boone or Coach Yoast? I'm having some major problems with naming it. This is my essay: "Win or lose… We gonna walk out of this stadium tonight with our heads held high. Do your best. That's all anybody can ask for." Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. In the movie Remember the Titans, based on a true story, Alexandria's schools are integrating and three high schools are brought together as one. An African-American replaces a white coach as the head football coach and throughout the movie, their leadership skills and character are challenged as they both face obstacles. Previously, Coach Boone was fired from his head coach position, with the school board claiming that “it was not ready for a black head coach.” Three years later, he is offered the head coach position and Coach Yoast becomes an assistant coach, initially protesting because he does not want to work under a black coach. Although both coaches are great leaders and have played a major role in the Titans' success, Coach Boone displays better leadership. He has the ability to bring out the best in people and he never gives up, facing racism with a strong head-on attitude. He always treats everybody fairly, demanding the best from everybody, regardless of their skin colour. The strongest leaders of the world all have the ability to bring out the best in people. Coach Boone is a better leader, because of his strong persistence in making everybody on the team respect each other and coaxing their best qualities out of them. Without this important quality, the Titans would not have played like a team. Instead, they would have only looked out for themselves, like the way Julius Campbell acts like when he first starts out in football camp. At football camp, Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell become best friends (even calling each other blood brothers when Julius visits Gerry in the hospital) and they become more open-minded, realizing that nothing could separate blacks and whites. Coach Boone constantly demands perfection, continually raising the Titans' standards. He is very harsh, forcing his players to get past the strong mental barriers they have implanted in their heads with demanding warm-ups and practices. This is shown in football camp when the whistle is blown and Coach Boone asks, "What is pain?" and the football players respond with French bread. During one of the football games, he gives Ronnie 'Sunshine' Bass a speech, in which he says that his siblings needed him when his parents died and the team needs Sunshine tonight to make the pitch. Encouraged, Sunshine wins the game for the Titans. While bringing out the best in his players, he teaches the team to never give up and to fight for what you believe in. A characteristic of a great leader is treating everybody fairly. When Coach Yoast takes aside Petey Jones and gives him a patronizing talk that encourages him to play better, Coach Boone says that although he is a mean cuss, he's the same mean cuss to everybody. "You ain't doin' these boys a favor by patronizing them. You crippling them; you crippling them for life," he says to Coach Yoast and that could not be more true. The world and the people in it are not there to satisfy the role of Patronizing Encourager. They have to learn that there is no limit and that only they (nobody else) can make their dream attainable and fulfill all their goals. Coach Boone does not coddle any of his football players and teaches them how to fend for themselves and to be tough. An example of Coach Boone treating everybody the same and not giving any preferential behavior to the black football players (like Gerry Bertier initially thinks) is when Petey is playing badly in the first Titans game. Coach Boone yells at him, "You're killing me, Petey! You're killing me!" Another good example is the harsh football camp that Coach Boone runs to eliminate football players. There is no difference in the way he treats people of different race. When Blue Stanton says he's tired and they need a water break, Boone says that they'll do up-downs until Blue isn't tired or thirsty. People might say that Coach Boone is too harsh and that treating everybody fairly does not make or break a leader. However, Boone believes that the only way to improve someone is to harden him or her and that this constructive criticism given by Coach Yoast only weakens them, providing them little defense in the real world. Coach Boone displays strong leadership and strong leadership does not crumble under pressure. Weak leadership, however, does. To be a strong leader, you must not give preferential treatment or inflict bias on anybody. Coach Boone, unlike Coach Yoast, does not see skin colour like the other coaches do; he only sees football players and skin colour does not come into his decision toSorry, the essay got cut off. It's too long. =.= But you should get the basic gist of it. more
