Open Question: What are good strength building exercises for softball players?
I'm joining the softball team and I want to be the best. But i have to have lots of strength and power. I need help with a workout plan to whack that ball out of this world. And the throw faster then the speed of light. Also if there's any other tips feel free. Thank you so much !!! moreResolved Question: How can i build muscle and overall body size?
I'm 16 and in high school, looking to get bigger for a couple of reasons. I'm about 5'6 or 5'7 but i weight in at 120 pounds. I've gained a few inches in height recently but only a few pounds. (i'm also a guy if anybody wants to know) Firstly, I play ALOT of soccer. I'm extremely fit and play 3-5 times a week on a compettitive team. I would like to build muscle that could help me be stronger on the field and hopefully have some colleges get a look at me. Secondly, I'd just like to get bigger in general for the ladies and whatever, and just cuz I think it'll be worthwhile. So how do i build muscle and size? I use a protein supplement after I practice but i've gained very little weight since using it. I have an insane metabolism, and honestly i don't eat too well. What gym exercises/home activites should i do, what are some good healthy alternatives to snack foods, and what are some good workout tips for gaining overall size. Thanks for any help!!! also, i'm not asking for anything cardio-based, i run quite a bit. moreResolved Question: Help relating to football/fitness? :D?
Ok well ive been playing football for around 9 years now. Im still quite young, just 13. (yes, i did start playing football when i was 4, not properly, but still football, okay :D) The thing is ive just joined a new football team and all the players are really good. Im kinda small (like 4ft something lmao...) So i have been working on building my strength for when i play. I do gymnastics (i am a girl btw, just incase you think im a guy and your thinkin am gay :D) once a week for PE, And i also visit the school gym once a week. Once a week isnt to much but bearing in mind my age i think its ok. Besides, when i do go, i tend to work really hard. The last time i went i lifted (in total) 438 kilograms within 45 minutes. I think thats quite good considering my age and gender =). Aswell as all that i play out and do a lot of running regulary and im not really a big junk food eater, either. But anyways, like i mentioned earlier, the people i play with are all really good. My coach says im definetely going to be playing in all the matches, but i belive there is always room for improvement :) So, i need some tips on how to get better. It could be my diet, to some toning exercises that build up strength in the areas needed for playing football,or some football drills or tips. Whatever you can think of. Even post me some links :) Btw, id say the toning exercises and drills are most important ;) But whatever you can come up with or think of would be great. Thanks in advance :D moreResolved Question: Getting a Letterman jacket?
So I've always wanted a Letterman jacket. The thing is, I don't play any sports. I'm only a Freshman, so I've got time, but my friend already has one (she's an amazing runner!). A big factor in the decision is that I have pretty bad asthma. I'm trying to build up my endurance for running, and my dad says if I work hard enough I could do long distance. I was thinking about joining the lacrosse team, but I've never played before and assume that most of the other girls on the team would be experienced after playing since middle school. I also thought about joining track or cross country, but again, I'm not a very strong runner and I have asthma. I can't sing, and I've already done the band experience in middle school. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do, or any tips about sports? Thanks :) moreVoting Question: When is a good time to give him my #?
I don't want to come off too desperate or creepy or anything. I met this guy yesterday - he lives near me in my apartment complex. He gave me his name & I found him on facebook added him as a friend told him we had met earlier & that I lived a building away from him. He seemed very friendly and immediately started talking to me. We talked briefly then I had to run. Then later that night I invited him over. He said he had some work to do for the office but if he got done in time he'd stop by. He did not stop by but today when I spoke with him he apologized and said he was very tired from work. (He works 2 jobs 1 full time & 1 part time) plus coaches the local high school track team! We do not have each others numbers just exchange brief conversations through facebook. I'd like to give him my number but I do not want to come off as "weird" or "creepy" should I give it to him or is it too early to give him my number? We just started talking yesterday what do you think? Should I wait for him to give me his number? Tips please! moreResolved Question: Taking a group picture with a Nikon D3000?
There are 8 people in the picture. It is my dads basketball team and he is the coach. He wants me to take a group picture with my camera. I have the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm lenses. It is going to be taking inside of the gym and i have a built in flash. Need help with what lenses to use and the iso. Any other tips or hints will be very helpful. moreResolved Question: How to get back into sports (football/soccer)?
I really miss playing sports. I'm in 11th grade (17), average build and really miss playing soccer. I still work out, but It feels pointless building up all of this muscle if I have nowhere to use it. I'm very much in shape however. I especially miss soccer which I haven't played since elementary school, at an organized level anyway. Over the summers, I'd always go over to the indoor soccer field and play a game with the guys, but never anything organized. I want to try out for a summer team, even a class B one, this summer. I can brush up this spring too. After that, I want to try out for my school team (even if it is, again, class B). Any tips on this? I really miss sports. Thanks! Brayden, 17. moreResolved Question: I'm part of a group hiring new people. What team builders are good for us to see their character?
Team Building, Hiring, Tough Decisions. We are hiring new people and we want to put them into small groups of 3 and 4 and have them do a team building exercise or activity. We want to see how they work together, who is a leader, who helps, who stays back and is more reserved. Any tips? moreResolved Question: why are arabs wasting soooooo much money......?
.....on pointless things such as buying football teams and building tall buildings. is it not obvious to them, or are they really living in a fantasy world. i mean in the money they have wasted since they found oil they could have made poor muslim countries such as palestine into something great, they could have built them homes, schools, universities, hospitals not to mention a great army to defend themselves against the apparent threat. i just want to know your views on this, because whenever i seem to open the news paper i always see some article about how some shaikhs son was seen at a nightclub tipping the waitress 10,000 dollars or some arab paying billions to buy another football club from england. i understand that the arabs were constantly under foreign rule by such empires as the Ottomans, Seljuk, Mongols and Mameluke's and that now they have their own money they want to go a little crazy but surely enough is enough. king faisal is the only arab ruler that ever did/tried to do anything for muslims.sorry yes i meant, oil rich arab countries. also its not that i have anything against arabs, i am apparantly decended from abu bakr (ra) but as a muslim we have to speak out against stupid behaviour even if it is from the rich arabs. moreResolved Question: Cheerleading Help...?
So I want to try out for the school cheer team next year. I have been going to this cheer camp every summer for 4 years, so i know my basics. I am not flexible AT ALL, i can't do any gymnastics, and my arms are kind of weak. So basically what I'm asking you is... 1.) How do I become flexible? If i stretch everyday, how long will it take before i have my, say splits? 2.) I need tips, and steps to doing handstands, backbends, cartwheels, etc. Maybe even how long it will take me before i get my back walk overs and stuff. 3.) What are some things i could do to build up my muscles? Again, how long? Thankks soo much. Even if you answer 1 of those i wouldd reaalyy appreciate itt. Whoever answers all 3 will be chosen best answer. I knoww this is a lot, but thaanks again<3 moreResolved Question: Looking to buy new computer, need tips!?
I finally decided that I am going to build my next computer, mostly because it's cheaper. I've already looked into how to build a computer and I'm pretty sure I can do it without any big problems. My budget is around 500-600 dollars and I will primarily be using it for gaming (Team Fortress 2, WoW, Fallout 3, Oblivion). I need one that can run these games without any problems and not become outdated anytime soon. Can anybody suggest a build that meets these requirements? moreResolved Question: How to get in basketball shape? Tips for a beginner girl basketball player?
I'm trying out for my school's basketball team next year and want to be prepared. I'm a pretty good shooter, though some days I struggle. I'd like to improve my range, dribbling skills, and basic concepts of the game. How can I learn some plays? I'd probably most likely be playing shooting guard. Also, how can I get into basketball shape over summer? I have a fairly average build with a little extra chub and absolutely no muscles. I'm also out of breath easily so I'd like to get into better shape. moreResolved Question: any tips for building an airsoft team and location for airsoft arena in/near orlando?
I was thinking about making a 5-7 man airsoft team. What soldier classes should the team have, (I'm assault class) and what kind of training should we have? I'm thinking about training us like somewhat of marines, but does any one have tips for that? Also, for the arena, I remember about an arena named SOCOM thats in melburne, but I'm not sure. Any other locations and names of arenas in florida would be nice. :) moreResolved Question: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl help? I have pearl!?
I need some help. Am I in trouble? Heres the info: I'm going to build a pokemon wi-fi team and I already have my pokemon picked. And, heres the problem (I think its a problem): All of them are level 100 I want to EV train them (I still need to undo their EVs) but I've looked around and I've seemed to find out that you can't EV train a level 100 pokemon. Is that true?, can you or can't you EV train a lv.100 pokemon? If so, could you please give me some help/tips? Thanks! moreResolved Question: How do I learn to fight better?
I'm 14 years old, in the 8th grade, and I'm not super weak, but I'm not some big muscular person. The reason I'm asking this question is that people push me around all the time, and it's hard for me to stand up for myself, when I'm dealing with these built n!ggaz, that are on the football team or whatever. If someone is way more muscular than me, is it still possible for me to win a fight, with someone considerably stronger than me. And what are some tips on fighting? Also, I'm not experienced in fighting, the last time I got into a real fight was when I was 5 or something, I won with one punch, but I'm not to confident that could happen again. Last thing, I'm talking about real fist-fights, not some planned, martial arts type stuff, that I heard doesn't work anyway. So can anyone help me?@Carson: look, I'm not going around looking to start a fight, I'm just sick of not being able to stand up for myself. People think they can say or do whatever they want to me. moreResolved Question: Training Help/Tips for schedule?

My striking sessions are quite relaxed e.g. Hard strikes but not that many of them.I'm to young to lift weights. My Ju-Jitsu school is the Japanese style so there's striking in it as well. Thanks for the tips so far. moreResolved Question: Pokemon Team-Building tips, HELP!?
So I'm a complete beginner in this Pokemon thing. Can you suggest some ideas about how to build a Pokemon team effectively? As in for the beginning part of the game (where there's no way to encounter a super legendary Pokemon or such). My starter is Charmander! What types (grass/poison/psychic/etc) should my other 5 be? Thanks :) moreVoting Question: several questions regarding training a horse?
okay so some of you may have noticed that i have been posting question alot about training this one horse. my parentals have been planning on buying a horse for me. the horse i want is: breed: QH/Arab or QH/thoroughbred age: around 5 sex:male (gelding) coloring: paint I showed them the^^^ horse that i know for 10000000% that i want, love, will train, can train (no matter how hard it will be) will devote time, love, and patience too. Only snag is that he is a little green. jumps 3 foot beautifully (i jumped him that, we were great :D ). the problems that he has are: 1) does not engage his rear end. I will do many trotting poles and cavalettis (sp?) with him. what other methods can i use? 2) constantly high head. im sure that when i can get him to lower his head his racing will even out some. as a side note for you to consider when answering how to solve this problem, i was sitting on him in his stall and he naturally holds his head high.....? idk maybe his head will always be high, maybe, maybe not. 3) getting him on the bit. tips solutions to help this??? 4) getting him balanced. what i know to get him balanced so far is that i should first build up the butt muscles (this is something i will do before fixing the above issues), do this by backing him up, trotting poles, figures 8's, serpentine's, and many many transitions. 5) jumping. he races and rushes. lately i have been only doing 3 -4 jumps whenever i ride him, and them only being small. (see his "history" below, i dont want him to have a bad back when he's older) ive been getting a nice steady trot to them and his racing the jumps has stopped somewhat. also after the jumps i make him stop, back up a bit and when i give the command, walk on. doing that he stopped rushing after all together. NOTE: i know atleast one of you will say, "why buy this poorly trained horse when you can buy a better trained one?" please dnt, ive already gone through this in my mind, my mind is set. history: the reason his isnt very well trained is this: right now he is 5. his owners have had him for 4 years, making him a yearling when they got him. his owner doesnt ride 'per say' he jumps on his back and straight gallops him. before they bought him his now-owner would sneak into his field get on him bridleless, tackless, helmetless, lessonsless, common-senseless and gallop him. the horse would buck him off and run away. i would too if some stranger got on me and galloped of with me. they bought him for 50$ and nvr trained him. hes so sweet and calm and for him being five he doesnt act it. the lease on him ends in about a week or a week and a half. his bit was a full cheek snaffle intially. its been changed 2ce in the month he's been leased. it was changed to the full cheek by a lady who has years and years exp. with horses and was on a pro riding team in college. would this bit be good to use on him to solve the above problemos? also if i used keeper son the FCS would they help and would i need a special bridle? he also uses a running martingale which isnt doing squat so i dont use it on him. all the info u guys give me will be used in the event that i do get him. i understand aids are just bandaids for problems and thats why im asking for training tips ;) i know its alot but he's worth it and more.i woud have to pay for the trainer. i dont have that kind of cash to spare moreResolved Question: How do you stay calm in a fencing bout?
i need tips on how to stay calm while fencing. ive been fencing for 3yrs at my high school but this yr is huge for me. cause of that im some wat losing my cool. i became captain this yr, and trying to help build a new team up. any tips for breathing and staying calm on the strip will b really helpful. thanks moreResolved Question: Which is a better pre-write for a story?
Idea 1: One day, 22 year-old Jimmy Donald wakes up, to find he survived a major outbreak of an airborne disease. It slowly kills you from the inside, and turns you into a mutant zombie-like thing. There is no way of curing it, and these monsters are everywhere. Jimmy has no skills at all when it comes to self-defense, so he thinks he will die. He hears a deep jungle in South America is still safe...Along his way, he meets 3 other people, who slowly start to feel the symptoms... Idea 2: North America receives word that a rural factory in deep Russia is building a nuclear missile to attack with. Zack Falcon is assigned with Squad 9, one of the lowest-ranked teams, with 5 other men. Once they make their way there, a few days later, the missile is launched. However, the trajectory is messed up, and it explodes in its own country. A civil war starts, and Zack and his partners have to fight their way to a helicopter, which will take them back to America...A twist of events happen, though, and Squad 9 has to find other ways to go back... So, in your opinion, which one sounds better/more interesting? Any tips or advice is also appreciated, and I will, of course, be putting in more than that. Thank you, and good-bye. moreResolved Question: what are my chances at Ivies, Stanford, MIT?

Hii :) I'm a sophomore in high school and I was just wondering If you guys could give me suggestions and tips/advice on how I'm doing this year so far, and what type of college caliber person would you think i'd be? I want to get into schools like UCLA, Berkeley, Stanford, Princeton, Dartmouth, etc. im taking: acting 1 (i dropped out of AP chem after 3 weeks but it wont show that on my transcript as i did that before the deadline) AP Calc AB (skipped pre-algebra in 7th grade and pre-calc this year) English 10 honors AP world history (our school doesnt allow us to take history freshmen year) Spanish 3 Aerobics I got a 4.0gpa freshmen year (all As & not weighted although i did take 2 honors classes) and im looking to get all As this year as well. (currently i have a borderline B+ in calc but i think i can bring it up) extracurriculars: -varsity debate (i was a novice freshmen year) -speech/forensics team (just tried out/joined this year) -model United Nations (just joined) -key club (2nd year)-i have applied to become sophomore representative (i wont know until next week) -I'm the treasurer AND vice president of a club (not 2 separate clubs; one club). the goal is to raise money for kids with cleft lips so they can get the surgery and to work with the IRC (international rescue committee) -science Olympiad (just joined so i havnt won anything yet) -im an editor for my school's science journal -CSF (california scholarship foundation, im in this already) -im a black belt 1st degree in Taekwondo (earned in 8th grade) -im going to start weekly volunteering at a senior facility I will also apply for yearbook towards the end of the year so i can take it junior and senior year. Also, I'm thinking of trying out for the girl's golf team in junior year (I will try to get lessons over the summer as I've only played golf recreationally before) I'll also apply for NHS next year (for junior & senior year) -- a few questions: does it matter that i didnt take ap chem? i took the regular chem class over the summer for school credit, and ill be taking ap bio junior year and maybeee ap physics senior year. (not sure what i want to go into for college-maybe pre med or law/ethics though) once im done with spanish 3, how important is it to take AP spanish, if it is at all (its recommended that you take spanish 4 before AP at our school)? do colleges look at kids who take AP spanish differently than they would to kids who go through spanish 3 or 4 but did not take AP spanish? im saying this in the context of people who do not want to major in world languages, but do to it for the heck of it and for the experience. do colleges see the AP spanish taker as a determined person? or does it not matter to them if they are not going to major or take that language in college? -since I'm quite ahead in math, is it okay if i just fulfill the 3 year requirement and not take math senior year (if thats the case ill probably take AP stats junior year)? and lastly: any suggestions on how to improve on or build on my schedule and my extra currics for the years to come? let me know- those of you who have gone through the application process and know :) side note- i feel that my problem/weakness is test taking. I took a book camp thing over the summer as prep for the psat, but we got ours back today and i only go a 180 :( whats sad is that i took a practice one the night before and a got a 198. then when i looked at my mistakes for the real test i realized that my writing section was very low and that i knew the answers to 75% of the ones i got wrong. ( will definitely take an sat class next summer to improve on this. my goal is to get a 2250+ when i take the real SAT) also: my school is a really good high school. our api is in the high 800s (i think we got around an 870 this year) and it's super competitive. i know colleges have to pick somewhat the equal number of kids from each school, and since my school is more competitive than others itll be harder to get into a better school. again- i really want to get into stanford, UCLA, Berkeley, dartmouth, or princeton. do i have a shot at schools of that caliber? SORRY THIS WAS SO LONG! thanks again! :) moreResolved Question: how to control/ stop obsessive compulsive disorder?
anyone have any tips....heres the story if you want to read more into the information behind this question.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If they saw me online again… I was supposed to write an action plan. Something that I wanted to do with my life that was supposed to be important. My class was filled with people I did not know, computer illiterate people on the computers, people who had just walked here from a homeless shelter, people who look far more rich or happy than I was. An action plan how was I to write one when I was so upset? I have not talked to my boyfriend now in a long time, nothing but small conversation every now and again. My heart is running on empty but I know if I told him that I would run the risk of having him yell at me, saying something like “What am I supposed to do drop my entire life for you?” I know he wouldn’t get so mad at me so quick, this was just in built fear from previous experiences from other relationships. I had lots of fun talking with his friends and learning so much about Sweden and life there, I tried speaking to them again but when I say “Hi.” On the chat they seem to go offline. Neither my boyfriend nor his friends have been on my msn in a long time. I signed out of MSN, signed out of Ventrilo, signed out of Team viewer, left Facebook and just sat on my laptop without programs running. I assumed that maybe they did not wish to talk to me, maybe my boyfriend was getting tired of speaking to me every single day, maybe his friends and family felt the same, maybe I don’t know how to really communicate with people, maybe everyone felt this way. If I leave all my chat programs and go offline they might be able to not have to be so afraid to sign on and have a good time. I am the sickness, without cure. You give someone else enough love they will gladly restore and become normal again, why is my attention meter always returning to low? Why do I need so much caring and loving and attention? Why must I be like this? A million questions could continue to circle through my mind. I start to think that maybe I am crazy. Sometimes just sometimes I think of removing myself from these social interactions entirely. For the sake of them not me though. I love attention to the point where even I can see that I am messed up. I stay offline. My mouse moves over the msn button, I do so enjoy speaking with people but if I click that what will it do? It will log me on. People will see once again my name online my mouse draws closer, I must pull away. Maybe if I pretend to be someone else, I can still talk to people then but I won’t bother my friends so much. I am so starved for attention maybe if I suck it dry from people all over that I don’t know it won’t cause any harm to anyone I know. Attention is like my drug, I need the love I need someone to say that they are proud of me and hope that I am okay. I crave every last drop I can drink of attention they have. Yet I hear speak of attention whoring as though it is bad. Perhaps it is, I cannot stop though. This may even leave me all alone. Maybe I crave attention so much because I have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). When I crave something I usually won’t stop until I get it. I really wish I was different. I wish that I HATED attention with a passion. I wish that I detested attention grabbers myself. I wish that I did not want all of this to the point where it becomes a need. I wish I could say that I am okay. I am going to be alone…it is only a matter of time…until they all walk away ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ moreResolved Question: Should I restart my Pokemon Platinum game?
I bought Platinum around late December or early January and I played it for maybe a month around 6 times a week... but very casually. Then I played it for maybe 2 months playing every now and then without putting much effort... I bought it since some friends stole my Pokemon Diamond game some 5 months before that and I wanted pokemon again. And maybe that is why I played it casually. Then after those two months I played during a 3 month period, but I had many things changing around me so I played maybe 8 or 9 times a month... just to play. Now that I have settled, I want to start again and build a strong team to get more into the game and the story, but I have made a lot of progress. I have 5 badges, seen 129 pokemon, and spent many hours in-game. But the thing is my team sucks... kinda. I have a Level 35 Torterra... traded so it levels fast and I guess it is very strong! I have a level 35 penguin (female), a level 34 rampardos, a level 35 staraptor, a level 36 ponyta, and a level 34 rotom (base form). The only strong points in my team are my torterra, the rampardos (sorta), and my ponyta is kinda strong. I want to maybe EV or IV train my team a bit, make it very strong, get better pokemons, and I guess get into the game again with more energy to understand the plot and story more. So should I restart? If I do, can someone help me out with some tips, ideas, or pages for a better team? moreResolved Question: I have some questions about building muscle?

They said that tumbling is optional but i want to have the best chance to make this squad. I can not do the splits, any handsprings, or tucks/flips. But I can do a back-bend and, a front handspring on the trampoline and also a front tuck on the trampoline, and then i can do a Cartwheel but i am having a prob with a round off. Another thing is that i am 5 foot and i weigh between 98-101 (it is diffrent every once in a while). Don't tell me i am not over weight because i know i am and on the wii it says i am to. One more thing is that what do you think is exspected at middle school tryouts. moreResolved Question: Misconceived perceptions of threat and sexism (I walked through town with a SPEAR-I'm a girl)?
Why I'm asking: I bought some PVC piping to build mechanical wings for Halloween, and had to slice the tip to a point to fit a screw inside. It looked like a very dangerous 5 1/2 foot spear. When I needed to get some more parts I wrapped the tip in newspaper, and took it with me (on foot) to the hardware store, to make sure I got the right sizes of everything. At one point I lost the newspaper, and didn't realize it. I walked through down town for several hours, stopping to do small errands, and such (T-mobile, Starbucks, Borders, etc.). The whole time people cracked jokes about the pipe, or offered me help carrying it, or asked if I needed help with what I was building. NO ONE asked me to leave it out side, or pointed out that it looked way too much like a weapon to carry around (I hadn't noticed that the newspaper had fallen off, for several hours), and the police that patrol the area (rich neighborhood, with a lot of not rich shopkeepers and transients) never stopped me once. Questions: I of course did not do this on purpose, and I would never have used it as a weapon, but in all fairness, shouldn't I have been stopped, or questioned? No man would have been able to do this without risking arrest. I know that it is sexist for a woman to be allowed to do this, but not a man, but what should be done about it? Should men be allowed to cary spears through town, when they need to get parts, and don't have a car, like I did? Should I not be able to? And what if I carried the spear for a man? It would still be sexist, but would that make it okay? Or would that be about as fair as a guy accidentally hitting an other guy in the head with a mis pitched ball, and me taking the wrap, and looking innocent, so he doesn't have to fight? (I've done this too - never mind that I pitched for the boys baseball team in high school, or that he throws "like a girl".) What can be done about these misconceptions of perceived threat, or non threat, based on gender? We are treated unfairly in many ways. So are you. This is not one sided....Or in the baseball example, the misguided perceptions of offensiveness, and defenselessness.Spiraled out: We are treated unfairly in many ways. So are you. I just joined my middle school wrestling team for the first time. I barely made it into varsity, against a person who I seriously believe he's better that me. I have never won another match so far, and I think this is due to my speed and quickness and my strength. Maybe also my lack of ability to use moves in the match. I need to build speed, stamina, and strength. I don't want those any of those crazy workout plans though. I believe those just build muscle, but not actual strength. I need quickness, stamina, strength, and tips on moves. HEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! moreVoting Question: Need advice from experienced people Managers?
I am starting a new job in a couple of weeks as a Manager to 20 staff members. Weird part is that some of these people will be direct reports and others will be dotted line reports with hard line reports to another Manager. For the dotted line reports, my role will be to assure their work is completed and they're working efficiently, but I will not be the one assigning the work. Ultimately I'll be responsible for their success / failures. So my question is this: I've been a manager for 8 years, however I built the teams I had.during my time with the company. This position already has all employees in place and the position is new to the company. Any suggestions on how to introduce myself to the teams and establish expectations without perpetuating any resentment they might feel? I want to start off on the right foot and assure my first impression is a positive and enthusiastic one. Any tips are much appreciated! moreVoting Question: How is the poem Death Of A Hired Man by Robert Frost a Modern poem?
Here is the poem Mary sat musing on the lamp-flame at the table Waiting for Warren. When she heard his step, She ran on tip-toe down the darkened passage To meet him in the doorway with the news And put him on his guard. "Silas is back." She pushed him outward with her through the door And shut it after her. "Be kind," she said. She took the market things from Warren's arms And set them on the porch, then drew him down To sit beside her on the wooden steps. "When was I ever anything but kind to him? But I'll not have the fellow back," he said. "I told him so last haying, didn't I? 'If he left then,' I said, 'that ended it.' What good is he? Who else will harbour him At his age for the little he can do? What help he is there's no depending on. Off he goes always when I need him most. 'He thinks he ought to earn a little pay, Enough at least to buy tobacco with, So he won't have to beg and be beholden.' 'All right,' I say, 'I can't afford to pay Any fixed wages, though I wish I could.' 'Someone else can.' 'Then someone else will have to.' I shouldn't mind his bettering himself If that was what it was. You can be certain, When he begins like that, there's someone at him Trying to coax him off with pocket-money,-- In haying time, when any help is scarce. In winter he comes back to us. I'm done." "Sh! not so loud: he'll hear you," Mary said. "I want him to: he'll have to soon or late." "He's worn out. He's asleep beside the stove. When I came up from Rowe's I found him here, Huddled against the barn-door fast asleep, A miserable sight, and frightening, too-- You needn't smile--I didn't recognise him-- I wasn't looking for him--and he's changed. Wait till you see." "Where did you say he'd been?" "He didn't say. I dragged him to the house, And gave him tea and tried to make him smoke. I tried to make him talk about his travels. Nothing would do: he just kept nodding off." "What did he say? Did he say anything?" "But little." "Anything? Mary, confess He said he'd come to ditch the meadow for me." "Warren!" "But did he? I just want to know." "Of course he did. What would you have him say? Surely you wouldn't grudge the poor old man Some humble way to save his self-respect. He added, if you really care to know, He meant to clear the upper pasture, too. That sounds like something you have heard before? Warren, I wish you could have heard the way He jumbled everything. I stopped to look Two or three times--he made me feel so queer-- To see if he was talking in his sleep. He ran on Harold Wilson--you remember-- The boy you had in haying four years since. He's finished school, and teaching in his college. Silas declares you'll have to get him back. He says they two will make a team for work: Between them they will lay this farm as smooth! The way he mixed that in with other things. He thinks young Wilson a likely lad, though daft On education--you know how they fought All through July under the blazing sun, Silas up on the cart to build the load, Harold along beside to pitch it on." "Yes, I took care to keep well out of earshot." "Well, those days trouble Silas like a dream. You wouldn't think they would. How some things linger! Harold's young college boy's assurance piqued him. After so many years he still keeps finding Good arguments he sees he might have used. I sympathise. I know just how it feels To think of the right thing to say too late. Harold's associated in his mind with Latin. He asked me what I thought of Harold's saying He studied Latin like the violin Because he liked it--that an argument! He said he couldn't make the boy believe He could find water with a hazel prong-- Which showed how much good school had ever done him. He wanted to go over that. But most of all He thinks if he could have another chance To teach him how to build a load of hay----" "I know, that's Silas' one accomplishment. He bundles every forkful in its place, And tags and numbers it for future reference, So he can find and easily dislodge it In the unloading. Silas does that well. He takes it out in bunches like big birds' nests. You never see him standing on the hay He's trying to lift, straining to lift himself." "He thinks if he could teach him that, he'd be Some good perhaps to someone in the world. He hates to see a boy the fool of books. Poor Silas, so concerned for other folk, And nothing to look backward to with pride, And nothing to look forward to with hope, So now and never any different." Part of a moon was falling down the west, Dragging the whole sky with it to the hills. Its light poured softly in her lap. She saw And spread her apron to it. She put out her hand Among the harp-like morning-glory strings, Taut with the dew from garden bed to eaves, As if she played unheard the tenderness That wrought on him beside her in the night. "Warren," she said, "he has come home to di moreVoting Question: how to be a fullback?

Im a freshman this year. Ever since mid last year, I have been getting into football a lot. Everytime I go to my high school football games, my desire to play football increases. So, I decided that I will start reading the playbook of football and learn more. My body tone is very skinny. I do have muscle, but those are from the 4 years of playing tennis. What I want to do this year is to start working out, and getting more muscle. I feel very discouraged when it comes to my skinnyness and body tone. Any advice on how i can grow increase my fat on my body(i.e.- a lot of my friends can take there middle find and thumb and wrap it around my wrist completely)? Yes, In a way i want gain weight and fat. Im only 120 pounds and Im almost 15. Any advice on having a new diet and getting more fatter? I have also decided that strength isnt my best aspect on the field, I feel like running would be better for me. Since I have been playing for 4 years now. So, Im deciding to try to go for one of the receiver positions. What I plan to do is run around my block and up a very steep hill with a weight vest. Calculate the time of running up that big hill as fast as possible with the weight vest. Do that for at least 6 days, and then the last day of the week, record my self of how long it took me to get up that hill with the vest, and then on the last day, record my self without the vest. Week after week, I will add more heavier weights, and keep repeating the process. This is to increase my running and sprint. So, any advice from hardcore football fans? What do you recommend? And any tips on how to get a little fatter? Also, how can i start to build more muscle in my bicep , triceps, and upper body area? moreResolved Question: How to join football team next year?

(this is 3/4 of a page long in Word) Dear Sir or Madam, I hope you will consider me for the position of Program Coordinator. I have witnessed firsthand the ways in which deformity and poor health can adversely affect people's lives, especially in developing countries. The work that ********** has done to help alleviate that is admirable. I would love the opportunity to contribute to that effort. My strong leadership skills, international focus, and career objectives align nicely with the job description, and I am certain that I would be an asset to **************. Has anyone tried/heard of 2010 System Platinum snowboards? Im thinking about buying one, however I know they are not a big company. Most likely a new company starting out, however these are the specs of the board: The Platinum was designed to move. This board uses a progressive sidecut to arc into any snow type. Lest face it, any board can carve well in powder. Ice, crud, Cascade cement, and corn are much harder. So how does a design team tackle such a dilemma. First off consider what has (and hasn't) been working for 25 years. Then start again. Build a board from the ground up that positions stiffness zones where required in the tail and midsection, while keeping a nose that can ride over the worst crud, while maintaining enough stiffness so as to bank properly on a Vail groomer. System has done just that in the Platinum. Tip to Tip vertically laminated wood core. Core-Ex lamination for the ultimate in edge control, Duraspeed topsheet, and light-touch internal dampening with a Precision Ground 4200 base. Honestly, I dont know a lot about these technical details about the board. Can anyone tell me if they are any good? Is this board really high-quality? Would this be a good board for all-mountain boarding? A mix between freestyle/freeriding? I'm looking for a board that will be easy to carve in, and can handle high speeds once I'm comfortable at riding high speeds. So I'm wondering if this board will be a good choice. Please answer if you have some good insight / if you're an experienced snowboarder. Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: tips for building endurance swimming laps?
i've just begun swimming in the mornings before work. this is the first time i've ever really tried to swim laps. i was never on swim team and didn't have swimming lessons as a kid, but i've always been a decent swimmer and have felt comfortable in the water. however, swimming laps is probably the hardest thing i've ever tried to do! i get winded so easily and my forearms get exhausted from pulling. i'm swimming freestyle and incorporating the kick board and pull buoy. i wonder if i should be doing any specific exercises outside the pool to strengthen my body for swimming. i really want to prepare for an olympic distance triathlon, but i need some advice in order to become a stronger swimmer. moreVoting Question: what kind of college could i get into??? advice please for the future & questions about classes?
Hii :) I'm a sophomore in high school and I was just wondering If you guys could give me suggestions and tips/advice on how I'm doing this year so far, and what type of college caliber person would you think i'd be? (ex: state school level, UC system level, IVY league material, etc.) im taking: acting 1 (i just dropped out of AP chem, but it wont show that on my transcript as i did that before the deadline) AP Calc AB (skipped pre-algebra and pre-calc) English 10 honors AP world history (our school doesnt allow us to take history freshmen year) Spanish 3 Aerobics (dont laugh at me ;p) I got a 4.0gpa freshmen year (all As & no weighted classes including honors classes) and im looking to get all As this year as well. extracurriculars: -varsity debate (i was a novice freshmen year) -speech team (just tried out/joined this year) -model United Nations (just joined) -key club-i will apply to be an officer/coordinator -I'm the treasurer AND vice president of a club (not 2 separate clubs; one club). the goal is to raise money for kids with cleft lips and to work with the IRC (international rescue committee) -science Olympiad (just joined so i havnt won anything yet) -im going to apply to be an editor in my school's science journal (for this year and beyond) -CSF (california scholarship foundation, im in this already) -im a black belt 1st degree in Taekwondo (earned in 8th grade) -im going to start weekly volunteering at a senior facility I will also apply for yearbook towards the end of the year so i can take it junior and senior year. Also, I'm going to tryout for the girl's golf team in junior year (I will try to get lessons over the summer as I've only played golf recreationally before) I'll also apply for NHS next year (for junior & senior year) -- a few questions: does it matter that i didnt take ap chem? i took the regular chem class over the sumer for school credit, and ill be taking ap bio junior year and maybeee ap physics senior year. (not sure what i want to go into for college-maybe pre med or law though) once im done with spanish 3, can i go on to AP spanish and skip spanish 4? more importantly: how important is it to take AP spanish, if it is at all? do colleges look at kids who take AP spanish differently than they would to kids who go through spanish 3 or 4 but did not take AP spanish? im saying this in the context of people who do not want to major in world languages, but do to it for the heck of it and for the experience. do colleges see the AP spanish taker as a determined person? or does it not matter to them if they are not going to major or take that language in college? and since I'm quite ahead in math, is it okay if i just fulfill the 3 year requirement and not take math senior year (if thats the case ill probably take AP stats junior year)? and lastly: any suggestions on how to improve on or build on my schedule and my extra currics for the years to come? thanks so much:) side note- im taking the PSAT this year in october. last year (freshmen year) i got around an 1800 but i took a psat class over the summer and i think this year when im going to take it i think i'm capable of getting a score somewhere around a 1900-2050. ( will definitely take an sat class next summer to improve on this. my goal is to get a 2250+ when i take the real SAT) also: my school is a really good high school. our api is in the high 800s (i think we got arond an 870 this year) and it's super competitive. i know colleges have to pick somewhat the equal number of kids from each school, and since my school is more competitive than others itll be harder to get into a better school. btw i did ask this question in another section too-i want answers from all different types of people :) sorry this was so long! thanks again! :) again, although i dont know wht i want to go into yet, (either pre-med or law of some variation) i really want to get into stanford, uc Berkeley, dartmouth, or princeton. do i have a shot at schools of that caliber? moreResolved Question: Tip for NRL teams this weekend. Don't take the two! Do you want to lose?
Now super coach Wayne Bennett will tell you always take the two points when they're on offer, but seriously, I've always thought taking the 2 points for a penalty when your in the opposition's 20 was a soft option, particularly early on. In my opinion, taking the two is taking the foot off the accelerator. Instead of wearing out your opposition by making them continue to defend off their own line, you take the two, let all the pressure of the defending side and you undo all the hard work you did getting down the other end with the ball and now you have to do it all over again. Take the first State of Origin for example. NSW had the opportunity to continue to build pressure early on after earning a penalty in the 5th minute. Instead, they opt to take the two and what happens? Minutes later Slater scores and Queensland go on to win the match. Take the finals series. In Eels v Dragons match, Soward took the two early on. They ended up missing out on their rest week and were subsequently bundles out when they again were tempted to take the two instead of trying to build and maintain pressure on the Broncos. In the Titans v Eels match, the Titans took the two and never scored another point. So here's the tip for the teams playing this weekend. If you're happy to take the two, you're happy to lose. Whaddya reckon? moreResolved Question: what kind of college could i get into? advice please?

:)again, although i dont know wht i want to go into yet, (either pre-med or law of some variation) i really want to get into stanford, uc Berkeley, dartmouth, or princeton. do i have a shot at schools of that caliber? moreResolved Question: Chase Stanley named Good Guy of the Month?
St George Illawarra’s Chase Stanley is inspiring troubled youths in a ‘Footy Fever’ community partnership that is helping teenagers turn their lives around. Stanley was today named the One Community Good Guy of the Month for August in recognition of his work as a mentor to teenagers who have been young offenders or youth at risk though truancy, suspension, domestic and behavioural issues. Stanley has been involved in the Footy Fever Program, run by St George PCYC in partnership with the Dragons Community and Development program, for the past two years. “Chase is someone that young people in the program can turn to for advice, for a joke, for footy tips and as a friend,” said Senior Constable Amy Brewis, from St George PCYC. “Chase has had more of an impact on them than many people may realise and the relationship he has built with them is extremely important in working with young people to stay on the straight and narrow. “It has been a pleasure having Chase on the Footy Fever Program as an inspiring young mentor.” Stanley’s work is also inspiring his team-mates to become involved in the program. “I remember dropping Chase off last year and I saw the bond he had with the kids and could tell he was so excited to come down each week, I thought it would be a great thing to be part of,” said Dragons team-mate Jason Nightingale. NRL Director, Community Relations, Trish Crews, said: “For someone as a young as Chase to be making such a difference to people’s lives is a credit to him and reflects his passion for an important community program.” Stanley joins Jamie Simpson (Rabbitohs), Andrew Ryan (Bulldogs), Justin Carney (Raiders), Greg Inglis (Storm) and Nick Kenny (Broncos) as 2009 recipients of the One Community Good Guy of the Month award, which acknowledges the inspiring work NRL players are doing in the community throughout the season. As the Good Guy of the Month, Stanley will receive two nights’ accommodation plus breakfast for 2 at the Holiday Inn Darling Harbour courtesy of IHG. moreResolved Question: I'm a scoundrel and this is my last refuge.?
