Open Question: I feel like everyone is giving me negative energy?
Ok so today I was helping wash my car and mothers car, and decided to stop and make lunch. I knew that I needed to take a DVD to my aunts so I decided after lunch to drop it off. I get there and get pressured by my cousin to stay all day. So as I get picked up from her house I find out that my parent's are upset at me, cause they worked all day and I decided to run off and play.
I feel like I can never make anyone happy anymore.
In school I kinda got some bad grades on tests and my teachers got upset about it.
In Boy Scouts I procrastinated on my eagle project and upset my leaders and others.
At home I don't help out in the yard much, and get yelled at for it.
This pass year has been a living hell for me, and nobody seems to care. I mean I have been working around the clock for my parent's, teachers, and others and all I get is a pat on the back. It's like no matter what I'm doing there is something I did wrong and they get upset about it.So this past weekend I just wanted to have some fun cause I haven't had it in a while, why is it such a terrible thing?
moreOpen Question: Very amateur camping enthusiast, I have a question about waterproofing!?
I really enjoyed camping when I was growing up. I also went a couple times in college and still like it just as much, but it's been a couple years now and I'm rusty!
I was wondering if there's a specific kind of tent I can buy that comes pre-waterproofed, or if I have to do it myself. Because my best camping experience ever was in a tent that an eagle scout had waterproofed, and waking up completely dry is the best thing ever!

moreResolved Question: Any more ideas for a celebration for my boyfriend?
Okay so my boyfriend received his eagle scout this past Tuesday so in a rush I tried to throw together a little celebration party for him. Due to short notice only two of our friends could make it so it'll be a small little gathering. We're going to do what he enjoys most on a Friday night, just relaxing and eating a pizza; in addition to ordering some pizza for the four of us I was planning on ordering a small cake saying congratulations on it and we were going to play some board games like scrabble, apples to apples, and some mad-libs. My boyfriend likes to keep things low-key, fun, and casual especially after a long week. I was wondering if anybody else had some good ideas that would be fun for the four of us and in particular, him. Thanks to all who contribute!

moreOpen Question: Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Air Force Reserve, National Guard?
I want to be a firefighter and I was looking at joining a Reserve/Guard Unit. My only problem is that I want to be a firefighter in what I am in. I know that they have different names like Damage Control, etc.
How hard is it to become a firefighter in the Reserves/Guard? What do i need to do to become a firefighter in the Reserves/Guard?
I spoke with a Coast Guard Recruiter and he told me that the CG Reserves do not have Damage Control available to the Reserves (but it clearly states that they do on their web page). Also an Army Recruiter came to my house to talk to me about joining, and when I said that I wanted to do firefighting, he said that their Reserves don’t do that anymore.
I have taken class in college for Fire Technology and I have my EMT (waiting to take the National Registry). I am also an Eagle Scout.

I want to just go out for a night under the stars with some friends. Nothing illegal or shady, but we don't want to pay for expensive campsites. Anyone know any local spots where we can just go hiking and pitch a tent for the night, without having to pay for it? I'm very experienced with the outdoors, had to move away before I turned 17 or else I would have been an eagle scout, so the more secluded the better.

I am 17 and I was turning left into the center lane of a 5 lane road. I saw the guy and thought I had enough time, but he was speeding and hit me in the back left of my car. He did not even swerve or put on his brakes, and he had 3 small kids in the car, so I think he was distracted. The police lady only took his side of the story and then came to me and just gave me the citation without asking me what happened. The police officer got my age wrong, birthdate and car model wrong on the citation. Can I get the citation dismissed for the information being wrong, and what is the best way to fight the guy in court. I am an eagle scout, national honor society member, lifeguard and 4.0 student if that helps my court case any to show i am not some crazy kid.I am in ohioo and guy with the second answer by you saying that I broke the law you are saying that every single time a person gets a ticket that means that they definately broke the law. moreVoting Question: Do I have a chance at transferring into Michigan State University?
I am a college freshman who has completed one semester at a lesser in state school. I currently have a 3.8 gpa but I don't think it will be quite as high since my first semester courses were really easy. I graduated high school with a 3.07 gpa and I got a 24 on the ACT. I am an Eagle Scout who also participated in 4-H, and several high school sports teams. I did not apply to state my senior year because I only had a 2.8 gpa at the end of my Junior year. I am worried I lack the credentials to get in because I have heard of people with good grades and scores not getting into state. I was just wondering if I have a chance of getting accepted.
moreVoting Question: Would I be eligible for Army OCS?
I would very much like to join an Officer program. I am an Eagle Scout, Bachelors of Science with work experience. I play Rugby at a top club and and physically in shape and mentally prepared. However, this is where i would like to know wether or not i am eligible. First off, I tore my ACL 3 years ago, its perfectly fine i still play rugby on it and such and have never had any trouble. I also have had asthma since i was young, however i did get a test and was "undiagnosed" when in college as i didn't use my inhaler ever and its a not a problem anymore. Please provide some honest and meaningful feedback.

moreResolved Question: How can I convince my parents to let me quit Boy Scouts?
I am 15 years old and I've been in scouting since Tiger Cubs. I am a life scout and all I have to do is my eagle project, 5 nights camping, and 6 months leadership.
I have hated scouts from the beginning. In fact I didn't even want to join in the first place, but my dad is an Eagle scout and has forced me to stick with it because he wants a way to connect with me. I have no good friends in my troop and I hate all the kids (they are all nerdy and weird). I am not active in the troop at all (I go to about 5 meetings a year, and I haven't been on a campout in about 3 years). I really have no desire to continue at all. My dad says he won't let me get my drivers license on my birthday in July if I don't get my Eagle, but my mom says I can, so I am not too worried about that. My dad knows I hate scouts, but I still can't convince him to let me quit. I know I am really close to Eagle, but I could care less whether or not I get it. In fact, even if I complete the requirements, I doubt I could pass a board of review due to how inactive I am in the troop. Plus, I don't really need my Eagle for my college resume since I already have above a 4.0 in school and have no plans of joining the military. I don't feel like getting back into scouting and putting in all that work. How can I convince my parents to let me quit?

moreResolved Question: My mom and dad won't let me talk?
I'm 19 and a second semester freshmen in college. And me and my parents DO NOT GET ALONG!!!!
We can't even have conversations without getting into arguments. And my dad always yells at me and tries to make me look inferior to him, when physically he's not (I've fought him before and won). I know the commandment saying "I shall honor my father and mother." But why should i give them respect when they don't give me any? I am legally an adult and I should be treated as such...ever heard of the golden rule!!! Anyways, my dad is also talking about disowning me if I argue with him or my mom one more time, and if he does then I will be a hobo. I'm not a bad person. I'm an Eagle Scout and a lifeguard at a local indoor pool. I also have good grades. But my parents don't see that. I can't stand being home anymore cause I have to be around them. And what if my dad does disown me? Then I'd have to drop out of college and my career aspiration of being a doctor will be extinguished.

Will I have to redo my merit badges, or can I simply get new ones and get them refilled?

years ago, i was bullied by this kid in and out of scouts. it turns out this kid was the scoutmasters son and because of that, the SM would do it to a certain degree, such as when i was quizzed on the first rank, i was asked questions that weren't even in the guides and say that my stuff had to be confiscated during trips(such as books) and then"lose" them. ever since then, ive been kinda discriminatory against scouts in general(girl and boy scouts). and yet i don't want to be

Please read the whole scenario before answering, everything is relevant here.
Here's what's gone on: I went in for an interview last Tuesday for a summer mate/bartending job that I found on Craigslist and during the whole interview process the interviewer only asked me 2 general questions and both were about my Eagle Scout. Also, at no point before, during or after the interview did he ask for any references. Just today I found that the job has been reposted on another site but it said that the job had 8 openings. What should I do from here?I also sent a thank you letter right when I got back to my place. Forgot to mention that but to me that's just standard.

moreResolved Question: Should I go to the Air Force Academy or a prestigious regular University via ROTC?
Hello, I am a Junior in HS trying to plan for a future in the USAF. I am debating whether to try to go to the US Air Force Academy or simply obtain a ROTC commission at a regular college. I hate to sound arrogant, but I think I can get into USAFA (class valedictorian, 2300 SAT, varsity letters in 4 sports, Eagle scout, multiple other EC's, son of an AF colonel). I also think I can get accepted into a selective university (applying to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Dartmouth, Notre Dame). So, my question is if I have the choice between USAFA and a really good regular college, which one should I do? I would like to be a pilot in the USAF, and later apply to become a test pilot and/or astronaut (a boy can always dream, eh?). I'm not a really organized person, I'm sarcastic, and I hate being ordered around. I'm also not really a party-type person and don't drink. I've heard that USAFA grads are more prone to promotion than other college grads, but could this be superceded by a Harvard, Yale, etc. grad? Also, I've heard that you have a higher chance of being a pilot out of USAFA. Anyway, which path should I choose? In response to the first answer: I have decent chance of getting a type I AFROTC scholarship if I go to a regular college, which gives me a full ride at the college of my choice. So it should be free either way. I should have clarified myself--I don't mind taking logical, practical orders, I just hate getting yelled at by drill-sergeant types for no reason (as happens at USAFA). Basically, would traumatizing myself at USAFA be worth the career benefits?

I'm a second semester Senior and have applied at a small state school ( Stephen F. Austin ). The only problem is that I have not sent in my SAT scores yet, because I'm taking the SAT in a couple of weeks. I've sent in rank and my application already, I'm just waiting to take my SAT. The school has no set date for applying, and I'm an eagle scout and in 2nd quarter. What do I have to get on my SAT, and do you think I have a good chance of getting in?

So my freshman and sophomore years I took all the hardest classes I could (1 AP, pretty much the rest honors) and got As on all the tests BUT I never saw the point in doing homework so I ended up with almost ALL Bs. This year I've gotten better: I'm taking hard classes but keeping up very well in work and being very active in class. Last semester I had 1 B and all the rest As (2 APs) and so far in this semester I have all As. My class rank is terrible still. How much will this hurt me in getting accepted to my first choice universities: UNC-CH, UCLA, UVA, Clemson, Syracuse? I took the ACT a couple months ago and got a 32. I've been preparing and I'm taking it again in April and the SAT in March and the SAT subject tests. My test scores are absolutely no big deal for me. I can raise them easily I think. I've played, so far, 3 yrs of varsity athletics, very involved in fine arts at school (band, theatre), eagle scout, young democrats. Next year I am taking 5 ap classes. Is my class rank going to totally f***me over in getting accepted? What can I do!?I am not sure if you are bring facetious or not
moreResolved Question: What does it take to be a warrant officer and is that what I want to do?
I'm 23 years old, married and working as a computer tech at a retail chain. I only have about one year of school under my belt and haven't been able to get back to school due to the time and more importantly money that it takes to get through school.
I have always dreamed about the military and as of late I can't stop thinking about it. If I could pilot an airplane of some type on an officer track that would help me get my degree I would enlist tomorrow.
One of the things holding me back is the money. I have my eagle scout so I could potentially go in as an E2 but even at that pay grade I would be making around what I am making now. I have heard about Warrant Officers and see that their pay grades are closer to that of officers. Someone told me you can be a Warrant Officer without a degree but from the requirements I am seeing it looks like you have to be an E5.
Anywho, I am just looking for more info about what a warrant officer is, if it is something I would want to do and if I could enlist as a WO.
If not are there programs the military has where I could enlist on a track to become an officer or on a track that pays for my schooling?
Long term I think I want to do some type of clandestine job for the government, a Core Collector for the NCS or some type of spy esque position. What kind of jobs in the military are there that would go into that? I am interested in some type of special forces or scout sniper for the marines as well.
Right now I am at a stage where I am ready for a change. I love camping, I love shooting guns(i have my concealed firearm permit), I work out everyday and the perks to joining the military sound good.
Wow, rambled a bit there. Any info is appreciated.
