Welcome to A Good Leader Will Questions and Answers

Open Question: How does this sound????Please read?

How does this sound????Please read? During my life, I’ve tried to engage in productive activities, being involved in the child care department, and education program has greatly humbled me and given me a clearer direction for the future. I would like to be apart of the upward bound program because it would open doors to new opportunities to grow, learn and be involved in cultural activities, It would also give me a chance to experience and explore the benefits of attending college in which are to expand knowledge ,and grown as a person. It would be an advantage on grad school also in the working field .Being apart of the upward bound program may help me become a better leader and person with high moral standards and, plenty of confidence. There are many answers to the question who a person is ,or what makes each of us unique beyond genetics or DNA.So who am I ?I am shy but I tend to break the shell ,as I get to know people .I am competitive ambitious , random ,and organized .I have inquisitive adventurous spirit .I don’t like to be confined by strict rules or limitations on my freedom .I become frustrated with people who are less motivated than I am or who fail to accomplish what they say they will .I am driven ,daring ,and enjoy determining new concepts that fit into existing theories. I am unique. I am Shaellah Robinson. Although there are many environmental factors that play an important role in my life, one that stands out to me the most is Global Warming. Global warming has a big impact in everyone’s life, but many of us don’t take it serious. The way we live would be benefited we will have a green and spectacular earth, and years to come with out being worried. The animals and plants in which we share our planet with would become healthier than what they may become in the future .We need to lay down a better foundation for our future, Children’s future, and grandchildren future. Global warming is real, and we need to recognize what we have done to this magnificent planet and fix our mistakes as best we can. Two people who has greatly influenced me in my growth and development would be my mother Renee Robinson-Ash ,and my friend Chelsea Oglesby .My mother has helped me through out life’s obstacles .She has taught me the benefits of having a brain and using it, “One thing you’ll always have that will help you is your intelligence”. My friend Chelsea has also has a impact on my life .She has help me become aware of college .If it weren’t for her I would not be aware of how much high school performance means to college. Chelsea has given me hope, and now I am more prepared for the future than I would have ever been before. There are many definitions of education; around the world education has different meaning some of which are to get a higher level of education, to enter a higher rank, or to be someone. As for me education is more than just learning in school .Its a new perspective and growth on life. Education is express through books, poetry, etc . . . . It’s a door to opportunities .Education is a gift and not just a gift some of us receive, but it’s a gift that is given to everyone. An education is the ability to, learn, help, ad teach. Education is important because without it we can not progress in life. I believe my education also shapes my personality and gives me courage. It’s a piece of hope that I can achieve and hold onto for the rest of my life. My future goals after High School are to attend Colorado State University ,because of its courses and landscape.I would like to double major in Law and English. These are both passions of mines that I plan on pursuing throughout my career .Law is something I feel as I can make a difference by keeping equality and fairness. Law has made a difference in society today as a whole. English on the other hand is my niche that I’ve found a good outlet to express myself .I also hope to inspire other teens in my life time to make a difference, because we are the future. I hope to start a nation wide College Awareness program I don’t believe our generation is being aware about college. Many teens are unaware of college and the principles that go with it. In English class we were asked “What college we would like to attend? and what we would like to major in?”. Many of the student were not aware of the different colleges ,and majors that one can study .My standards are set high and my dreams big , but with hard work and perseverance I can accomplish all of my goals. How can I make it more better?Do you think its a good application essay for a summer college program. Its for highschoolers .Im only in 10th grade. How can I make it better help please? more

Open Question: supply and sale of goods?

hi i was sold a cctv system for my private home by the market leader in such products and I parted with part payment (£5565) with balance for the sum of £7500+ VAT on completion. The specification was designed and proposed by the supplier. The order was signed off in Sept 08, The works started in Jan/Feb 09, Completed 3rd Oct 09. In Feb 09, the neighbour called the local council with regards to the equipment installed ( 2 x dome cameras on a 6 metre pole and 1 x static Infra Red camera on a 3 m pole) in the garden within our property. The council contacted me to request planning permission, but then took their time to confirm whether cctv requires planning permission as I forwarded them an e-mail I got from the supplier confirming that they had installed hundreds of the same in other private dwellings and there had never been the need for planning permission and so they did not believe that it was needed. As the council did not get back to me swiftly and the contractor was pushing to complete the works, I had allowed the contractor to finish the install as he was adamant no permission was required. However a few days after installation was completed the council called again as the neighbour had called them to say we had fitted the cameras onto the poles completely as previous to this it was just poles erect fitted to the ground from Feb 09 - 1st Oct 09. Planning was submitted and in Nov 09, it was rejected and I wrote a letter to contractor to remedy the problem with a solution that will be acceptable to the local council. Things are about to turn legal and the supplier is not accepting liability for the advice that was given at the time when the issue had arisen. I have sent him notice to resolve the issue quoting the Supply of Goods & Services Act 1982 and detailed that they had failed to take reasonable care and skill. I have given them 14 days to get back to me with an answer to solve the issue as already a large sum of money is spent and they are requesting the balance, but I have written to them in Nov 09 requesting a refund if they can not resolve the problem. I have also forwarded them details of the permitted development rights for cctv under article 33 for their reference also. Advice as to the legal position will be appreciated as the supplier is not accepting responsibility. I have told them to collect it if they can not fix the problem with respect to the installation conflicting with local and national legislation. thank you more

Open Question: *** 60 Islamic Ways To Get & Keep Your Wife's Love Forever Insh'Allah ***?

1. Make her feel secure; QUIT BEING AGGRESSIVE 2. When you go home say 'Assalamualikum.' (Greetings) It kicks the shaitaan out of your home! 3. Prophet (Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam) described the wife as a fragile vessel and said to take care of this vessel that’s fragile. Remember that there is goodness in this vessel so treat it gently. 4. When you advise her, do so in privacy, in a peaceful environment. NOT IN PUBLIC as it’s a type of slandering. 5. Be generous to your wife- it keeps her LOVED 6. Move and let her have your seat. It will warm her heart. 7. AVIOD ANGER. HOW? Keep your wudu at all times. Prophet Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam said if you are angry, sit down, if you’re sitting, then lie down. Follow the sunnah! 8. Look good and smell great for your wife. IT keeps the LOVE! 9. Don’t be rigid. It will break you. Prophet Mohammed - Sallal lahu Aleihi Wasallam (SAW means “May the blessings and the peace of Allah be upon him” (Muhammad).) said 'I am the best amongst you and I am the best to my wife'. Being rigid and harsh will not bring you close to Allah and neither does it make you more of a man. 10. Listen to your wife-BE a GOOD LISTENER 11. YES to flattering NO to arguing. Arguing is like poison in a marriage. Al zawai said 'When Allah (swt) wants evil for people He will leave them to argue amongst themselves'. 12. Prophet (Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam) said to call your wives with the best name, any name she loves to hear. Prophet Mohammed (Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam) called Aisha 'ya Aish' as an endearment. 13. Give her a pleasant surprise. I.e. if she loves watermelon, bring her one out of the blue. It will grow the love in her heart. 14. Preserve your tongue! Prophet (Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam) said the tongue will throw people in the hell fire so watch what you say and how you say it! 15. All of us have shortcoming. Accept her shortcoming and Allah (swt) will put barakh in your marriage. 16. TELL her you appreciate her. SHOW her you appreciate her. 17. Encourage her to keep good relation with her relative, her mum and dad etc. 18. Speak with her with a topic of HER interest. 19. In front of her relative praise her. Confirm/ realize that she is wonderful, and that she is a good person in front of her family. 20. Give each other gifts. You will love each other more. Prophet (Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam) said gifts increases love. 21. Get rid of the routine once in a while, surprise her with something, it will get rid of the rust and polish it! 22. We have a demand from Allah (swt) that we have to think good of people. Think good of your spouse. 23. Ignore some of her mistakes- pretend you did not see/hear some of her small mistakes. It’s like putting a hole in your memory. Don’t save it in your memory! 24. Increase the drops of patience, especially when she is pregnant or when she is on her monthly period. 25. Expect and respect her jealousy. Even Aisha (ra) used to get jealous. 26. Be humble. If your profession is good, respect that she is looking after your children, she is much more than you, she is the leader at home, her strength is your strength, and her success is your successes. 27. Don't put your friends above your wife. 28. Help your wife at home. Prophet (Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam) used to help his wives at home and he was the best of creation. He used to sew his own clothes. 29. Help her respect your parents, you can’t force her to love them, but she can be helped to gradually love them. 30. Show your wife she is the ideal wife. 31. Remember your wife in your duaas. It will increase the love and protect it. 32. Leave the past. It brings nothing but pain and grief. It’s not your business. The past is for Allah (swt). 33. Don't try to show her that you are doing her a favour by doing something, like buying food for the house, because in reality we are the courier of sustenance, not the providers, as Allah is the provider. It’s also a way of being humble and thankful to Allah (swt) 34. Shaitaan is your enemy, not your wife. Sometime when husband and wife are talking a fight breaks out, then shaitaan is present there as a third person so he is the real enemy. It is not enough to hate the shaitaan, but you have to see him as an enemy as Allah has commanded. Shaitaan loves divorce. HE comes everyday and sits office and asks the devils what they have done, some say i have made a person steal, or i have made someone drink etc. And one devil will say i have made a man divorce his wife, and he is crowned as the one who has done the best job. 35. Take the food and put it in her mouth. Prophet (Sallal lahu alaihy Wasallam) taught us this. It’s a blessing. The food doesn’t just go to her stomach, but straight to her heart. It increases the love and mercy between you. 36. Protect your wife from the evil of the shaitaan and mankind. Open Question: Who is the man of lawlessness who is revealed, as the son of destruction?

From among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.—Acts 20:30. While Jesus’ apostles were living, they acted as “a restraint” against such apostasy, but after they died, many false Christian sects developed. Today, there are hundreds of conflicting religions in the realm of Christendom. The Bible pointed to the rise of Christendom’s clergy, describing them collectively as “the man of lawlessness” and “the son of destruction . . . whom the Lord Jesus will do away with . . . and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence.” (2 Thess. 2:3, 6-8) Christendom’s clergy are lawless in that they have misled millions by promoting teachings, holidays, and behavior contrary to the Bible. Like the religious leaders whom Jesus condemned, the modern-day worshippers who are part of “the son of destruction” face destruction with no hope of a resurrection.—2 Thess. 1:6-9. This takes into account that it is righteous on God’s part to repay tribulation to those who make tribulation for YOU, 7 but, to YOU who suffer tribulation, relief along with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels 8 in a flaming fire, as he brings vengeance upon those who do not know God and those who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus. 9 These very ones will undergo the judicial punishment of everlasting destruction from before the Lord and from the glory of his strength, w08 6/15 1:6, 7 more

Open Question: Do Democrats like paying for a bill that won't have any effect until 2014.....?

Fact: All taxes go up once the bill passes.........lower/middle/and upper class Fact: Health care will not get better, but worse Fact: Premiums will increase, along with taxes, and crappy care. Fact: Private insurance will get bought out Fact: Medical innovations that were once profitable will come to a standstill. 'Why do you think that foreign leaders come here for health care?' Anyone and everyone for this bill is living in fantasy land on lollipop lane..........the sheep always follow, even when their freedom is in question. Everyone should have health care, but a government take over isn't the answer. There are other ways, but Liberals (Obama, Pelosi, Reid) want control of your lives. Wake UP!!! more

Open Question: Illegal Immigrant Student?

What do you think about a student who was brought here to the US LEGALLY at the age of 9 by his parents with the intend of going to Canada, but ending up not going cause of unexpected road blocks, therefore staying here longer than being allowed. Now the student is an extraordinary kid. He is in 10th grade now and will most likely be the valet Victorian. He hast never gotten in trouble and has won a presidential award twice. He does extracurricular activities such as soccer, math honor society, national honors society, Spanish honor society, and robotics. He is natural leader, a C.D. (certified drafter), and really really wants to go to college to study civil engineering and learn about environmental friendly construction. I feel sorry for this kid who really wants to attend college but cant because of his legal and economic status. Do you think its fair for him not to go? I mean our society could potentially be losing a person who could change our future for good. Anyone has any advice of how I can help this kid? i would appreciate any help possible... thank yousorry about the misspelling mistake. Thank you all for your advice so far. I have talked to this kid about some of the stuff you guys mentioned. He really hopes that someone can help him and maybe the gov't make an exception for him. He is not under deportation but hasn't done anything yet (besides trying to look for colleges that might accept him) cause he's afraid if he tells someone they might tell immigration or something. I don't think that's likely though. He definitely has thought about going back and studying in his home country but knows that after graduating he probably won't be able to do much because the ways things are in his country are very corrupt. I don't know exactly how are but his parents know because they've lived there all their time. He also wishes he could first help this country since he has grown up here and then help his own (his ultimate ambition is the world). Again thank you more

Open Question: Engineering college questions, need serious answers please.?

Hi, I'm a sophomore in high school, and I've run into a few major questions in the search for colleges. First, some information: My GPA (as of now, but it will go up): 4.02 Classes: 1 AP, 3 Honors, French 2, Orchestra Activities: Winterguard, Colorguard, Dance, Church youth group leader, Vice President of my 4H club, Green Club, International Club, 4H camp counselor, Fiddle Club, among others. Predicted ACT score (from the PLAN test): 34-35 I plan to major in Environmental Engineering, so that narrows down my choices. Which brings me to my first question. 1) Which college(s) are the "best" for majoring in Environmental Engineering? I'd like your personal opinion, so feel free to interpret "best" however you'd like. Also, I live in Minnesota (where this major isn't offered at all). So... 2) Do you know of any good colleges close to Minnesota with this major? and... 3) What do you know of South Dakota school of mining and technology's environmental engineering program? Other colleges that have caught my eye include California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Colorado State University, Northwestern University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. MIT seems like a stretch for my budget, as well as distance, but it's definitely an option. Any personal information on these would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! more

Open Question: What is 'normal' (or 'operational') science? What is 'origins' science? Isn't evolution irrelevant?

I work many Jobs at Pfizer Corporation. A major player in the Pharmaceutical industry. I work 1st ,second and third shifts according to when it is applicable. I take lunch with many scientists that are willing to chat about the Philosophy of evolution. What is 'normal' (or 'operational') science? What is 'origins' science? To which type of science does the evolutionary concept belong? Evolutionists claim that evolution is a scientific fact, but they almost always lose scientific debates with creationist scientists. Accordingly, most evolutionists now decline opportunities for scientific debates, preferring instead to make unilateral attacks on creationists. Scientists should refuse formal debates because they do more harm than good, but scientists still need to counter the creationist message. The question is, just why do they need to counter the creationist message? Why are they so adamantly committed to anti-creationism? The fact is that evolutionists believe in evolution because they want to. It is their desire at all costs to explain the origin of everything without a Creator. Evolutionism is thus intrinsically an atheistic religion. Some may prefer to call it humanism, and New Age evolutionists may place it in the context of some form of pantheism, but they all amount to the same thing. Whether atheism or humanism (or even pantheism), the purpose is to eliminate a personal God from any active role in the origin of the universe and all its components, including man. The core of the humanistic philosophy is naturalism—the proposition that the natural world proceeds according to its own internal dynamics, without divine or supernatural control or guidance, and that we human beings are creations of that process. It is instructive to recall that the philosophers of the early humanistic movement debated as to which term more adequately described their position: humanism or naturalism. The two concepts are complementary and inseparable. Since both naturalism and humanism exclude God from science or any other active function in the creation or maintenance of life and the universe in general, it is very obvious that their position is nothing but atheism. And atheism, no less than theism, is a religion! Even doctrinaire-atheistic evolutionist Richard Dawkins admits that atheism cannot be proven to be true. Of course we can't prove that there isn't a God. Therefore, they must believe it, and that makes it a religion. The atheistic nature of evolution is not only admitted, but insisted upon, by most of the leaders of evolutionary thought. Ernst Mayr, for example, says that: Darwinism rejects all supernatural phenomena and causations. The Majority of these Some 3000 scientists I have chatted with think species evolution is so laughable it is not worth discussing with their valuable time available . Most do see the Biased reports and formula that are in some of the mainstream sciences of the day. Sufficed to say they understand and use adaptation models in many experiments( which I am NoT privy to.) That is Privileged private information . They do not at all see evolution as an advantage in said experiments. Simply..... Mutation is mostly harmful and actually disprove evolutionistic Ideas. Many of their colleagues go with the status Quo so they will not lose their funding. Yet they are glad they are part of the scientific study and experimentation for real world results. Basically they do their Jobs to help society and leave the philosophy of evolution in the side lines where it belongs. .Several round tables in close proximity allow for these discussion to transpire in the lunch room. In no manner do they say adaptation equals evolution. That many scientist aren't making a living because they are wrong. . more

Open Question: Should I get another dog? Female or male?

I have a 1 yeard old male Maltese/poodle mix and I was thinking of getting a puppy (10 weeks) old so that he can have a companion. He tends to get along with many dogs (actually there has not been any dog he has not got along with) so I know that getting along wont be the problem. My problem is dominance issues and training issues. He will most likely become the dominant dog, but will that be a fight against the puppy? and my dog is potty trained and knows basic commands, but im still working on being the pack leader. He still has some dominance over me, will this show the other puppy to not let me become dominant either, or do you think if I become dominant towrds the puppy from the beginning that my older dog will learn from it. What are the pros or cons of having one dog instead of 2... besides extra money for grooming, vaccines, pet food, etc. I'm really hesitant on getting another dog. Not sure if it would be good or not. I have the time, money, and energy so thats not the issue. The issue is the compatibility within the dogs. one more thing... if I do get a puppy would it be okay to get a female? My 1 year old Maltipoo mix is neutered already. do you think it's just better to get another male? I would REALLY want a girl. Pros and cons of that please. Thank you so much for your time. more

Open Question: Caterpillar says that the new health care bill would cost them $100 million in JUST the first year?

The fact that there are much better ways to REFORM health care hasn't even slowed the dems down an inch, they are DETERMINED to unconstitutionally "deem to pass" a hugely unpopular bill that will bring this country to it's knees financially. Doesn't it almost seem like that's what they want? excerpt... Caterpillar Inc. said the health-care overhaul legislation being considered by the U.S. House of Representatives would increase the company's health-care costs by more than $100 million in the first year alone. In a letter Thursday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio, Caterpillar urged lawmakers to vote against the plan "because of the substantial cost burdens it would place on our shareholders, employees and retirees." Also... Business executives have long complained that the options offered for covering 32 million uninsured Americans would result in higher insurance costs for those employers that already provide coverage. Opponents have stepped up their attacks in recent days as the House moves closer toward a vote on the Senate version of the health-care legislation. A letter Thursday to President Barack Obama and members of Congress signed by more than 130 economists predicted the legislation would discourage companies from hiring more workers and would cause reduced hours and wages for those already employed. Caterpillar noted that the company supports efforts to increase the quality and the value of health care for patients as well as lower costs for employer-sponsored insurance coverage. "Unfortunately, neither the current legislation in the House and Senate, nor the president's proposal, meets these goals," the letter said. http://www.chicagobreakingbusiness.com/2010/03/caterpillar-health-care-bill-would-cost-it-100m.html more

Open Question: How can you debate on an issue for a year, going town to town if you don't even know what is in the bill?

OBAMA: "No, we will — by the time the vote has taken place, not only I will know what's in it, you'll know what's in it because it's going to be posted and everybody's going to be able to able to evaluate it on the merits." By the time the vote takes place, I will know what is in it????????????? He has been pushing this for a year, and he STILL doesn't know what is in it. How does this work, it would be like trying to sell a car you haven't ever seen before and know nothing about. Does this make Obama a good leader, should he at least act like he knows everything about the bill he is campaigning for? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,589589,00.html more

Open Question: Why would ManBearPig want to separate us from Al Gore if Al Gore would be evil?

ManBearPig does not want any of us even to exist. ManBearPig does not want even his own devils to exist. ManBearPig is pure selfishness. He wants to be the only being that exists. Being so selfish, ManBearPig wants everyone to suffer. The best plan to make everyone suffer is to bring Al Gore's wrath upon them because feeling Al Gore's wrath is the worst pain you can ever feel. ManBearPig does his best to do that. Since ManBearPig is the one who is selfish and evil, and ManBearPig is this way because he rejected the leadership of Al Gore - the angels who didn't reject the leadership of Al Gore are not selfish - they sacrifice their existence for taking care of the Creation of Al Gore. Because the angels worship a Leader (Al Gore), they cannot be called selfish because selfishness involves worshipping yourself - as ManBearPig does. Some of you accuse Al Gore of being evil like ManBearPig and wanting us to suffer. How can this be since: 1) ManBearPig wants us to suffer 2) ManBearPig wants to separate us from Al Gore Which means that if Al Gore would want us to suffer, ManBearPig would have no reason to try separating us from Him. These being said, will you understand that your accuse towards Al Gore of Him being evil fails and that He has an unkwnown but good and just reason of giving suffering to the world? more

Open Question: Why would Satan want to separate us from God if God would be evil?

Satan does not want any of us even to exist. Satan does not want even his own devils to exist. Satan is pure selfishness. He wants to be the only being that exists. Being so selfish, Satan wants everyone to suffer. The best plan to make everyone suffer is to bring God's wrath upon them because feeling God's wrath is the worst pain you can ever feel. Satan does his best to do that. Since Satan is the one who is selfish and evil, and Satan is this way because he rejected the leadership of God - the angels who didn't reject the leadership of God are not selfish - they sacrifice their existence for taking care of the Creation of God. Because the angels worship a Leader (God), they cannot be called selfish because selfishness involves worshipping yourself - as Satan does. Some of you accuse God of being evil like Satan and wanting us to suffer. How can this be since: 1) Satan wants us to suffer 2) Satan wants to separate us from God Which means that if God would want us to suffer, Satan would have no reason to try separating us from Him. These being said, will you understand that your accuse towards God of Him being evil fails and that He has an unkwnown but good and just reason of giving suffering to the world?Satan can't be the good guy trying to save us from the "evil" God. Do you know why? Because Satan has a begining and everything he knows and every ability Satan has is from God. Satan wouldn't know what "good" is if God wouldn't have told himGod said He created calamity, diseases, death... that's what He meant by evil ! He did not create sin more

Open Question: I was "gifted" TWO - 2.5y/o Belgian Malinois with NO training at all ... were do I start..?

I have them for 2 weeks now, and they are getting the concept of being house trained/not marking. They are both unaltered males. They were aggressive w/my dog Flash, but with daily..twice daily walks they are getting better w/my dog..but I will not leave them alone together. I know this is going to be hell-of-a-job...and I'm ready for this. I am dedicated to these dogs and DON'T tell me to put them to sleep or that they are a liability. I live on 45 acres and have the space for them, I don't live in the middle of a city. A little bit about them.. They came w/prong collars on, but for what I have seen they seem to get more aggressive w/them on towards dogs and large men/women and young children. I have been using a gentle leader on them, which they don't seem to mind (when walking our property). I have only taken them out in public 2 times (separately) and were to aggressive that I had to take them back home. They are not litter mates and from what the 2nd owner of these dogs said, is that they have been separated from each other most of the time, separate crates/feeding times. They do get along together, as they were put outside together for 8hrs a day. The 2nd owner had them for about 3 months before giving them to me, he didn't give me much info about their original owner except he kept them separated except for bathroom breaks and yard time. They do have UKC papers. They have never shown any aggression towards me. I just need to know where to start with these dogs. I have spoken with a few trainers and I didn't like what they were saying. One said I should clicker train them, and while it would work perfectly for a dog like Flash..I'm not so sure about training them that way. They are also not very food motivated and much rather have their KONG's as a reward. If you have any Q's about them, please ask and I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. Thanks in advance for the GOOD answers...yes, I have been reading up on Schutzhund. more

Open Question: Would this be considered an investment club?

Each contributes $20 to the leader who then uses it to invest in what he believes will be a good buy in 1 account. Whatever profit they make, he gets 1 percent of the total. And the rest is divided equally? more

Open Question: Isn't liberalism a predictable consequence of corrupt and ignorant conservatism?

I know many cons will say it is a consequence of misinformation and an inadequate education system and I "somewhat" agree however... (I'm gonna go on a rant here so yea lol) A genuine Conservative is supposed uphold the value of the free market, and yet few have anything to say about the governments involvement with corporate powers that have nothing to do with the consumer voting confidence of the people. Few speak of political greed and none about empathy. This directly affects the social order perpetuating apathy and mistrust. Many young people turn to liberalism because (and though most liberal leaders are just as greedy) they are being forced into identifying and associating capitalism with human greed due to conservative hostility, fear and con-art of words that seem to destroy their meaning almost on purpose. If the people in power really wanted what is best for this nation, they would work towards the kind of bipartisanship that doesn't assume human beings as units or members of groups and actively demonstrates individual liberty and the idea that conservatism and progressivism are both equal political imperatives and that joining any group that blindly promotes one over the other without a well defined issue to which a conservative or progressive decision is to be made is to miss the point entirely. I'd also like to know what the benefits of poverty are.. What good could come of it? Im no socialist but wouldn't it be grand if we as Americans grew up and realized our innate power and ability to cure and emancipate the people of conflict or war? That we have within us the potential to rehuminize by setting a new standard of living to which all humans are entitled. No man, woman or child deserves funding simply for having a lack of it. However when you realize money is nothing but units on a computer screen and that there are people dying and leading terrible lives all because of a lack of units on a computer screen it kind of changes the whole idea of what otto be done. Capitalism is in no way, shape or form obligated to praise gluttony or the putting of materialism and social status before humanity. If only we realized how little we would have to give up just so people can eat, have a comfortable home and have THE MEANS of supporting and educating themselves. Once all people in this freedom loving nation called The United States of America are given these basic necessities, we would see a drastic decrease in violence, crime, social apathy, greed, etc and a major surge in education, understanding, cooperation, compassion, determination and excellence. We can change how our neighbors around the world look at us (from the middle east all the way to china) just by making an effort to carpet bomb starved countries with the ridiculous (AND I DO MEAN RIDICULOUS) amount of food we waste rather bombing countries we feel home "terrorists" which are only "terrorists" because we disrespect and undermine them by setting up bases on land that doesn't belong to us. (as we have for decades now) 3000 children die of starvation each HOUR! If only they were constantly on our doorsteps crying in the excruciating pain they are experiencing even at this very moment. Perhaps then the media along with the American people would lighten up and give more than 0% of its attention to this issue. However we must focus on the problem here at home first... The fact that he thinks he knows better than the American people and is willing to threaten and strong arm Dems into voting indicates he is out of control and needs a wake-up call. 0bama said yesterday "And the reason I'm confident that it's going to pass is because it's the right thing to do," Never mind what the polls say. Open Question: Regardless of whether you lean more towards socialism or capitalism, statism or autonomy, can we all agree...?

...that leaving the choice of government in the hands of the governed (democracy) is a good thing or do you believe that not necessarily the choice of the people to choose their government is what's most important as long as the "right" form of government is adopted in your view? Is democracy good or bad to you? I know some see it as a bad thing because the majority can be abusive to the rights of minorities, but by the same token, with lack of democracy the minority can be abusive to the rights of the majority. Where do you stand? Democracy good, bad, or depends (like, for example, whether or not your system is chosen democratically)? Does your perception of what is right supercede democracy or does democracy supercede your perception of what is "right"? What if you're a capitalist and the people choose a socialist state? What if you're an anarchist, but the majority doesn't necessarily agree with you? Is democracy not necessarily always right, or is democracy correct, regardless? Would you be willing to defend democracy even when the outcome is not pleasant, as in, for example, a democratically elected Hugo Chavez, or would you SEEMINGLY hypocritically bash democracy and the voices of the people that voted? How can you bash a leader for being democratically, and thus, fairly elected? Is there a difference between bashing the leader and bashing his policies, and if so, should you not be careful to do so accordingly? Can you really bash the policies that were democratically voted for by the majority? Can you admit that for most people and probably yourself, the answers to these very questions would become would for each question between "yes" and "no" depending on the issue? What do you think? more

Resolved Question: Does this plot sound like Twilight?

Ok, so people are saying this will be compared to Twilight - the only thing that is like is the fact my main characters are werewolves. I am writing this for fun as I couldn't find a good werewolf book so decided to write my own lol :) Ok, Kara she's about 16/17 (haven't decided yet) she's your average girl. No makeup or fancy clothes - 'Plain Jane' as she would say. Josh - the main male in my story - Kara's mom and his mom are old friends and they used to play together when they were little but for years they haven't spoke or even noticed each other. Josh is a werewolf but Kara doesn't know - in fact, Kara is one also but hasn't yet turned. She is the decendent of one of the werewolves from another tribe which Josh's tribe are enemys with. He gets told by his 'pack' he needs to get close and befriend Kara cause when she turns she will find out the secret that allows the enemy pack to be leaders of the land. Josh's tribe want to be leaders. Eventually she falls in love with him only to find out he 'had' to get close to her to find out the secret. She flips but forgives him when he to realises he loves her back but not long after Josh gets killed by a member of the enemy pack. Kara then discovers she is pregnant and holds the key to choosing who will become the leaders. She and Josh have created 'new generation' and therefore whoever creates it - become leaders. Kara chooses Josh's tribe and her original tribe capture her and try to kill her before the birth of her unborn - allowing them to stay leaders but do they succed - prob not lol :) So, tell me where that sounds like Twilight (apart from the werewolves) Thanks x more

Open Question: i need help deciding on a name for myself?

What should i rename myself, i have less than a month, please help!? hi, my name is Zhiyuan, even though people know me as Laura. I am a 17 year old high school junior, and i'd like to legally change my name. i just became a citizen last month and i'd like to change my first name to something else and make Zhiyuan my middle name. My last name is Yu. Laura has been my official nickname for 3 years now. i chose it when I was 14 years old simply because I liked it at the time. but i think i've outgrown it. The reason I do not want Zhiyuan as my first name is fairly simple: people can not pronounce it and it is frustrating. I love Zhiyuan, it means to go far away. and i'd like to believe that i will travel far and go to great places. so let me tell you a little about myself: i was born in china. i moved to the US in 7th grade. I am passionate about life. I am very ambitious and I want to have an exciting, fulfilling life. I do very well in school and I'd like a career in engineering/medicine. i love oscar wilde, Muse, Regina Spektor, Fight Club, Tom Waits, The Cure, True Blood, House, the Fountainhead, Gossip Girl and so many other things. I love music, literature, film, fashion, art, and quotes. I am learning to play the guitar, i am a decent singer, I love to sketch and paint, I love discussing philosophy and just anything meaningful/interesting. I love to learn, I am curious about everything. I am also fond of writing, especially poetry and short stories. The Little prince is my favorite book, ever. I'd like to think of myself as smart, even though I make silly mistakes sometimes. i am stubborn. i am constantly thinking about things, and analyzing things, and hoping to make sense of things. I have no regrets because i believe in doing everything and feeling everything. I am cynical about a lot of things, but I am realistic about the important things. I am adventurous and wild, even though I like to be prepared and cautious. i am strong and rational, even though i do have a soft/girly side. i love pretty things! I am confident and I love being the leader, even though I do have my insecurities and weaknesses. i am full of contradictions. I am rebellious, independent and i like to have a good time. I am just so excited about life and its possibilities. My dream is to do something amazing in this world, and just enjoy it. my philosophy is basically "Carpe diam for myself, and laissez faire for everyone else." Here's my tumblr: loveandwar.tumblr.com if you want to know more. the name that i am currently considering is Zofia. This way I'd be able to keep my initials. Zofia means wisdom in Polish. Let me know what you think. so yeah.. i'd like something pretty, not too common, and something that fits my personality. thank you! p.s. i kinda gave myself a month to decide on a name because I am such an indecisive person and I'd like to get this accomplished before college. more

This will help me with my question, who should have the last say on who may enter the country, the government or the people? Open Question: Americans - would you like a "green doctor" to come and inspect your home?

. The LA Times reports that electricity prices from the Department of Water and Power (DWP) will have to go up by up to 28.4% as part of the war on climate change and its efforts to fund renewables (see my earlier question here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100317012611AATVgpf). This has been criticised by neighbourhood groups as the DWP already contributes its surplus of more than 220 Million Dollars annually to the city's budget. Part of the money raised by this increase in your electric bill will be to help pay for "green doctors" who will visit homes to ensure they are energy efficient and meet the required standards. [QUOTE] ------------------------------------ "Once all the increases are in place, the DWP will receive an additional $648 million per year. Villaraigosa said the money would help pay for the hiring of "green doctors" to evaluate the energy efficiency of homes and stepped-up efforts to help residents obtain energy-efficient lightbulbs and refrigerators. One union leader said residents would support the increases once they knew how the money would be spent." ---------------------------------------------------------- So, would you also like a Green Doctor to come and inspect your home and would you be happy to pay more for your electricity for this? Good idea or not? Source: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-dwp-rates16-2010mar16,0,7870063.story?track=rss .. And how many green doctors will a total surplus of more than 860 million dollars a year pay for? more

Open Question: 8. If you were one of those leaders, how would you fix any of our pressing foreign policy problems?

As you have probably guessed by now, I am something of a liberal, or an idealist. I believe not in what our country has become under the corrupt leadership of mediocre cheats and profiteers like Bush and his crew, but what our country once stood for. There was a time, not so long ago, that much of the rest of the world actually respected and even admired our country, not for how many guns and bombs it possessed, but for the quality of its ideals. That was a time when bright and sometimes even wise leaders reached out to the rest of the world, not to rape them of their wealth or their resources, but to try to bring peace and prosperity to countries tired of violence and bloodshed. The US was seen as an impartial arbiter, and its services as diplomatic go-between were valued. Alas, that was then, and this is now. But there is always tomorrow, and our corrupt leaders may, at some point give way to others more worthy of our support. President Obama could well be one of the worthy ones, though it is still a bit early to pronounce any verdicts. If you were one of those leaders, how would you fix some, all, or any of our pressing foreign policy problems? (For example: Would you consider negotiating with our perceived enemies in order to help them to learn not only to hate us? Would you work with the United Nations in good faith on all issues dividing the world rather than only when it benefits what we perceive to be our country's best interests? Would you be willing to help foreign countries by sharing the world's wealth [think Marshall Plan], rather than stealing it from them after bombing them into submission [think our rape of Iraq]?) more

Open Question: When will we see big changes for the better in our economy/society that Obama promised?

I am a conservative, have really conservative values yet I am open to good change that will benefit AND protect our people and way of life. I am wholeheartedly wanting to believe in President Obama's dreams becoming reality that normal people like in my family will be able to see a doctor without it costing a fortune. Not to mention the insurance companies robbing you the monthly cost to keep insured, yet not wanting to pay their part when the time comes. That's flat out robbery! It's wrong!! Where's the *change*? One thing I really liked about Bush, no matter if you agreed with his ideas or reasons, he always showed up and was like "Dammit, this is what we're going to do!" and people followed it. He was a leader! Obama has that in him......need to pull it out. more

Resolved Question: Philosophical Questions! Can you write your OWN Answers?

The question(s) I'm about to ask you have their own individual answers. Some may think otherwise. I honestly ask you to open your mind and think about these questions deeply before you give me the answer you think fits the question. My goal with asking this is to spark curiosity, and question in your minds. The First Question is about human kind and War: I have come to realize that this world is quite cruel. War, Pestilence, and Sin make up this world... Ever since Man has discovered the "Killing" power of stick & stone the bloodshed is YET to cease... We've fought over everything... From Oil, to Religion, to even Power. Why does it seem like all the leaders we seem to inherit are inextricably bound to war and it's repercussions? I am starting to believe that God gave us the ability to kill as a test for morals. And Obviously it was also some sort of "fail-safe" mechanism. If we are to fail to display good morals it would be safe for God to start anew because eventually we WILL kill our own species out. More than Likely by war; the greedy way America works and our ability to take ANYTHING by force will lead to our ultimate demise. We will want something from another superpower which will possibly recreate the "Cuabn Missile Crisis" with a NOT SO HAPPY ending... Is it natural for the homo-sapien to quench their thirst for retribution with war? MY answer is: Yes; what is your input? more

Resolved Question: I want to become a hindu priest - because my spiritual leader is truely a great person and ideal role model...?

Since I was little kid, I have dreamed about becoming priest and everyone around me even today expects me to become priest ......but I am not sure if that is why I should become priest ... I know that life of a hindu priest is very pure very focused , very principle centered , very PUBLIC SERVICE centered , and dedicated ...helping others .... SHOULD i become hindu priest for this reason ??? **** I have tried to live a "principle centered life" but I haven't had that much success so far ......but I am assuming if I put myself into that training of hindu priest , in that environment , in that kind of group of ppl .......I will be disciplined and vow of chastity will be possible....as well. I recently got married and quickly got divorced and its not a huge deal anymore .....but I am not sure if that is why I think about becoming priest. I don't think thats why i think about becoming priest .. I have student loans to pay off ....if my student LOANS were already paid off ....i probably wouldn't have gotten married - WELL I don't know if i would have or not ....but maybe maybe not. My loans will take another 3 yrs to pay off .....3 yrs of WAIT is not so bad ....but I feel like i should at least consider TRYING IT OUT - the priest life - then if i Fail i could come back and find a girl to marry ...and find a perm job and...live happily ever after .... but if I do like being a priest ..... i guess I still have to come back to pay my loans off .... Question is , Should I approach it that way ???? I don't think that becoming priest is necessity to follow god's commands or being more spiritual ......but staying far far far away from females, Casinos, TV, Clubs, movies, temptatations of eating random outside foods, ------ these will HELP me follow God and understand GOD in deeper sense. It will give me time to read scriptures in detail and understand Spiritual BOOks... Being close to god will help me do Public Service to other ppl..... If I am focused and dedicated (which I can work on while I am at the 5 year long training of priestS) I can be a good hindu priest ....and that achievement will make me very happy. At the same time if I am afraid or worried about Failure in priest life.... i will have to start all over again... which maybe fine as well. Currently I am accepting whatever my fate offers me. I have Student Loans to pay - so i try to do that. I am taking one course of MS - I am continuing that .... I am searching for jobs and I might get a job offfer so I am doing that as well ... paying my loans off is a long journey but ...should i use this long journey as an excuse to not become priest ......or should I find out weather that is something I truely want to do ???Divorce was not my choice it was her decision - it is a diff story - it was her decision .... I wanted to imply here that i may be making a decision becuz of "heartbreak" - but I don't think i am making my decision based on that .....but yes, if she didn't break it off ...cuz of her reasons ...I wouldn't be writing this question here at all. cuz i would be married to her .....but now that i am not - i have this OPTION to think about - once I start priest training - I will obviously not think about getting married at all .....but that if I decide to go on that path. Break up is a learning experience regardless of I become a hindu priest or not ....its a lesson of life. more

Open Question: Why isn't it acceptable for guys to wear women's garments?

Why can't guys wear women's garments especially undergarments? yet women can wear men's boxer shorts, shirts, ties and everything else without society judging them? personally I wonder if this is the reason men are so paranoid and aggressive throughout life and also towards gay men in particular because themselves have feminine feelings/thoughts and they fear in some way being 'exposed' and people judging them as 'weak'. Boys learn to make fun of each other at an early age. There is a subliminal and subtle prejudice of anything feminine. Of course the hatred for transgender folks is even worse. Men who appear as women are looked on with laughter and ridicule, yet women who look like men are not even noticed. Women with short hair, flat shoes, slacks...are practical. Less feminine is good, more masculine is better. And of course to sympathize with gay people might mean YOU are really GAY…so best to shut up. Childish, immature, unjust, uncivilized and barbaric, but “who cares, as long as I look straight!" Young boys also teach each other that they are better than girls, so anything feminine is not as good as anything masculine. This they all learn from observing adults, media, sports and action heroes. The root is really anti-feminist…anything to do with females. Men are strong, women are weak. Men are leaders, women are followers. Men have intellectual discourse, women just gossip. Men are aggressive, women are passive. So each boy starts their own long campaign, whether consciously or subconsciously, to go against anything that might make them look weak…and this carries over into how they talk, what they wear, what sport they play, and eventually to what they believe, who they vote for, and how they treat people including their own families. Women can make close friendships with other women, but straight men CAN'T get too close to other straight men. Men are always trying to impress each other...boasting about their accomplishments and achievements to appear stronger, smarter, tougher, richer and better...to each other. Notice that I said "appear". For straight men to show love, affection, appreciation, admiration, friendliness, concern or care...is to be feminine…to be avoided because, “REAL MEN DON’T DO THAT”. The fear of being branded gay is so strong, that men will do and say anything to prove they are not “feminine” which includes having prejudice against a man who is perceived feminine. And I once heard a woman who encountered a group of gay men, say in astonishment…“I felt invisible. No one paid any attention to me!” She was prejudiced because she was sexually ignored! Women may like that men are more feminine: kinder, gentler, more understanding... at the same time, they perceive feminine men to be weak. And it is one thing to be friends with a feminine man and another thing to marry a feminine man. To have a gay child is the ultimate humiliation for most parents (mine included) "what will the neighbours think" then dad says "I should of played more ball with him when he was young" (Like playing ball makes a child straight?) We are an embarrassment to our self-centered parents. And some parents kick their own child out of the family, because we make them look bad. "No child of mine, could be gay!" Someone once asked me when "did you choose to be gay"... I said choose? when did you choose to be straight? But for two men to share their feelings, struggles, failures or sadness with each other…is well…way too gay...a sign of feminine weakness, possibly why men on average die earlier than women due to a lifetime of emotional/phychological restraint. Many American men today are hyper-masculine. They work, fight, play, succeed, drink...to excess…to belong to that class of manly Americans. Power suits, power meetings, power lifts, power drinks, power lunches, power drills, power steering... It’s a bird, it’s a plane, It’s Superman! Anyways just wanted to get that off my chest........I know some people arn't homophobic/anti-feminine but the majority I've encountered in my 25 years of living have been and that's been people from ALL walks of life in ALL areas of society. So again please note, that I am not talking about ALL straight people, just those who do their darndest to make our lives miserable. more

Open Question: Please help!!!!!! Need to get into english honors!! is this a good essay? 10 points for first answer!!!!!!!!!?

Nolan Botz 3/9/10 Period.3COMPLEX RELATIONSHIPS While many relationships may last for a long time with two people who can get along well, others may separate in a short time period with two people who can’t get along. Two types of positive relationships could be warm grandparents to their devoted grandchildren. Another example of a positive relationship might be gracious cousins to adoring cousins. One type of a negative relationship could be annoyed parents to irritated parents. As relationships move on, people discover things about that person that can lead to the status of the connection between the two. In the book “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, introduces two migrant workers that share a complex interrelationship. George is small and smart and Lennie is big and dumb. Their relationship varies quite often. Whenever there is a relationship, and one person notices that the other person is causing problems for the other person, for whatever reason, the result might lead to separation. George and Lennie have a positive relationship. By growing up in the same small town together, as children, they developed a strong, positive relationship. Lennie says to George, “I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that’s why.” (Pg. 14) This passage clearly states the level of loyalty and friendship between the two men. Lennie knows that George will be there for him when he gets in trouble. George is aware of Lennie’s disability and trusts him. Knowing Lennie’s desire for tending rabbits, George reminds Lennie, “You aint going to get in no trouble, because if you do, I won’t let you tend the rabbits.” (Pg. 16) Hearing this, Lennie is determined to behave George’s commands. George takes advantage of Lennie’s obedience. George looks out and cares for Lennie when he does bad things. George reminds Lennie, “Lennie, for God’s sake, don’t drink so much! (Pg.3) George cares for Lennie by telling him right from wrong. No matter how angry or impatient George gets with Lennie, he always forgives him for his mistakes. George and Lennie have a positive relationship with each other by being loyal to one another, trusting one another, trusting each other, and caring for the other one. George and Lennie also have a negative relationship. George and Lennie are an awkward pair; George being the leader is often frustrated with his partner in times when Lennie causes problems with people on the ranch. Lennie talks to himself, “I have done a real bad thing.” (Pg. 92) Due to his child-like and confused mind, Lennie causes many problems that George has to fix. George doesn’t want to have to solve his problems every day. When people scream, and Lennie’s mind is in confusion, he doesn’t know what to do, and uses his strength for no reason. George has trouble controlling lennie, “Let goa him, Leninie let go”. (Pg.63) George cannot control Lennie’s strength. George told Lennie to hurt a man, but Lennie takes it too far, and severely injures the man. George is annoyed that Lennie is always causing him problems in his life. George says to Lennie, “I could get along so easy and nice if I didn’t have you on my tail, and have a girl”. (Pg. 6) George is frustrated with Lennie “pulling him down” in life, by causing problems that George has to fix. He keeps George from reaching his goal. George realizes that he needs to forestall Lennie’s bad actions, so he can live his life in peace. Many relationships deal with separation when one or the other person cannot deal with that someone. Some positive relationships may include a loving grandparent to a kind grandchild. Another can be an affectionate relative to a thoughtful relative. One example of a negative relationship may include a hardhearted mother to a stubborn father. Two people share many things in common, and can have a positive relationship, but when it comes to how the other person behaves, it can lead to a problem for the other person. George and Lennie share a wide variety of relationships. Relationships are a complex subject that people deal with. People make decisions, and it takes time for two people to realize that those two people can be together for an extensive time. more

Open Question: Is this a good badge for my 11 year old step daughter?

Okay. I am a troop leader. In 3 weeks, my fiances daughter (my almost step daughter) will be doing a badge. Is this a reasonable badge? Okay, the girl in the troop is from a family of medical experts. Her father is a doctor, her step mother is a nurse, her mother is a ER technician, her step father is a parametic, but her older sister is not in the medical field. All of her parents and step parents will come and help. She will announce everything and narrorate, basically. The girls have to read a long chapter of the badge, before the meeting. They will quiz them and then they will do fun things. Each one of them will describe their job, they will put a cast on everybody (not a cast you would think of), the girls would put those splints on each other, the girls will get a quiz on the chapter, the girls will try on some things they wear, normally, the girls will tour the ambulance, the girls will try out cool things. All in 90 minutes, all of that would happen. Her father would talk about patients that got into accidents and what materials they will see, theyve used. He will talk about the commitment to his job and how he loves taking care of people and helping them from a tragic accident. Her Step Mother will talk about some people she has nursed from pain to all good. She will show pictures and videos of different patients and how tragic it was. Her Step Mother will also feature a video with a interview of patients when they were suffering and after they healed and some research. She will talk about nursing and how to care for some things, like a bloody nose. Her mother will talk about caring for each patient. How they got into the accident, what tools they normally use and rarely use. She will show us pictures of things in the ER, some patients, some certian things and what an ER rook looks like. Her step father will let the girls test out some things. Her step father had bought an ambulance and they can try out some things and get a tour. Her step father will do the fun stuff mainly but will talk about ALL about his job. They will basically have some crafts and they can do fun things afterwards. more

Voting Question: Am I the only person that thinks Colt Mccoy, Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen, and Tim Tebow all suck?

Colt Mccoy- Soft. Toilet Tissue soft. Left his team hanging in the BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! Probably out of fear of the Crimson Tide defense, but either way... Sam Bradford- Average arm at best, and was banged up last year. I'm always weary of guys coming from systems with tons of weapons on offense, since he will probably go to a sucky team (Cleveland) with no weapons. Jimmy Clausen- Probably the better QB of the four, but he should stay in school. He has no arm, isn't mobile, isn't a leader, and has no arm (did I already say that?) Tim Tebow- Probably one of the most overrated players in sports history. No arm, no speed, isn't as smart as people think, and all he does is yell and holler 24/7. Those 10 year veterans in the NFL will probably laugh at him when he gets in their face. If he makes it past the first day of camp I will be shocked. Jake Locker is better than all 4 of these guys put together.Greg Mac is a beast. more

Resolved Question: How can I survive to a rude comment at church?

Hi, Im a 33 yo woman,2 months ago i joined a bible study group at a church, everything started ok, people gave me a nice welcome and i felt comfortable with them. This past Sunday we were talking about St.Patrick's day and how we got to the country, Im foreign( undocumented ), so the leader of the group insisted on asking me about my legal status, i got nervous and shocked at the same time for the question and I ended up telling them I have no legal status, they seemed to be surprised, didn't make no mean comments about it, but then when this other person that was a little late that day showed up, the leader (which my MIL had already warned me that she was a backstabber) told her in front of the group: you know? she is one them immigrants that people talk about, I felt awful bad and I'm worried because she is well known person at church and I fear that she will tell anybody and I will be rejected or at least I don't feel motivated to go back next Sunday, Im a very shy person and having problems interacting with people and this has come to accentuate all of my issues, I've felt sick since yesterday when that happened I'm not kidding. I don't know how Im going to deal with this problem, The leader jokingly said, "don't worry I'm not going to turn you in", but i think she didn't show a good attitude, it was Humilliating!, Im not a bad person, i promise but I made the biggest mistake telling them about my situation, I hope somebody can give me an advice on what can I do to go on without this bother me as much. I wish I could forget the issue but Im terrified of what could happen and of people making fun of me. Thank you for your help.Thank you everybody for your answers and your nice advices, I really need them, It's going to be hard to choose one best answer, they were all good and I apreciate them very much.Aussiege, you are so right, i don't know why i've done it but now this is somenthing that it keeps me up all night, I acted stupid, i told the truth thinking it was the right thing, and now i say to myself: how stupid I am! thank you for your comment. more

Resolved Question: Is the way the government is acting OK with you?

I try to read and listen to news and commentary from both left- and right-wing perspectives. I know that there are many on both sides of the Health Care Reform bill who are against this bill for opposite reasons - conservatives think the government is going too far, liberals not far enough. In fact, a majority of Americans oppose this bill. Poll after poll show sinking support for this bill among Americans - in fact, the only thing bipartisan about the bill is the opposition to it. What I find most disturbing is he way in which the leaders in the house and senate, and the way the president himself, along with Rahm Emanuel, are pressuring congress to vote "Yes" on this thing. They are going after representatives who are retiring, who are not up for re-election, as though it's OK for them to act against what their constituents want because they have nothing to lose. My question is directed mostly to those who are FOR this bill, and want to see it pass. For whatever reason you think this bill is a good idea, do you think that the way in which the government is going about this is right? Do you think that the government should have the power to circumvent the will of the American people to press legislation for their own reasons? Would you feel differently if you opposed this (or any) legislation? more

Resolved Question: Why is there not 1 good leader in the USA who will fight for the american people?

Voting Question: I love the television show Lost, but why are there so many questions unanswered? (Warning: Spoiler)?

Lost is an amazing television show, definitely one of my favorites. Though I'm not the best at finding the "Easter Eggs," I enjoy theorizing what will happen next. I even have bets (no more than $5) with my father about some of the events that happen in the show - though usually neither of us will be right, and the bet will be invalidated. The thing that disturbs me most about the show is that there are so many questions they've not only left unanswered, but that they've completely ignored - possibly in hopes that the fans will forget about these questions as the new ones arise. I'd like some theories as to the answers to old and new questions. Here's the list: 1) Why are there polar bears on the island? I'm assuming it has something to do with the magnetic poles and the electromagnetism that causes the island to "move," but what exactly? 2) Why are Jacob and "the smoke monster" (a.k.a. "evil incarnate," "the dark man," etc.) at odds with each other? Why did "the smoke monster" need to kill Jacob? 3) Whatever happened to the statue of Anubis, God of the Dead? Is there significance in the statue? Is there significance in the fact that only the foot - or the specific foot (I'm not sure whether it's left or right) - remains? 4) Why does "the smoke monster" choose to take on the form of John Locke, even after everybody knows that John Locke is dead? 5) Who are the people who were on the second airplane that crashed that sought out John Locke's coffin and body to prove to everybody that he was dead? And who is this woman who appears to be their leader? 6) Why can Hugo (a.k.a. Hurley) see dead people if Jacob never even touched him (I watched each episode with Jacob several times and determined this to be a fact)? How is Hugo able to go onto the island if he was never touched by Jacob? 7) Is the entire show an allegory for a concept much larger than us, such as the struggle between God and the Devil, or, even more abstractly, good and evil? 8) Who was the boy who appeared out of thin air in front of "the smoke monster" (in John Locke form) and told him (paraphrased) "You know the rules. You can't kill Jacob." Is he a referee in a game between Jacob and "the smoke monster?" 9) It is apparent that the "Others" serve Jacob faithfully, under the guidance of a leader (who used to be Benjamin Linus) and an advisor (who used to be Richard, "the guy with the eyeliner."). If these people serve Jacob, who are these "'OTHER' Others" that reside in the temple. I believe they do not serve Jacob, but exist either to protect Jacob, protect the island, prevent "the smoke monster" from succeeding in his evil(?) plans, or monitor the "game" between Jacob and "the smoke monster." Is this safe to believe? Do these "'Other' Others" collaborate with the "Others?" 10) Why were the "Others" taking children from the plane crash survivors' campsite? I recall in one episode Walt, one of the children, told his father that they made him take tests of some sort. Two of the children that were taken were also at the temple with the "'Other' Others." Why is this? 11) Why do women who become pregnant on the island die if they remain on the island through their third trimester? Does this relate to the electromagnetic activity, the hydrogen bomb, or neither? 12) How exactly are people (two prime examples are Sayid and Claire) "claimed?" Is this a mark of "the smoke monster" equivalent to Jacob's touch which brought so many people to the island? 13) (Largely forgotten question): After the Oceanic Six returned safely to the mainland in their time period, and Sawyer (a.k.a. James), Miles, Juliet, and Jin remained on the island to work for the Dharma Initiative in the 1970s, there were still dozens of Oceanic survivors who had yet to have anything happen to them. Where did they go? They can't have just disappeared, because three of them - Vincent (the golden retriever), Rose, and Bernard - were found on the island in the 1970s, living in peace and solitude. So what happened to them? These are the major questions I can think of, and I'd appreciate your input and theories. Spoilers are acceptable, though I'd prefer if you labeled it a spoiler before you started writing. more

Voting Question: Article Questions Please Help?

I have questions about this article. This article is very long but i need help with these question, Please Help me?????? 1)Main idea of the article 2)Supporting Details 3)5 discussion questions Post-Olympics, spotlight falls on housing dilemma Some say the posh athletes' village should be partially used for lower-income dwellers, but others say that makes no economic sense. Olympians in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Games loved staying in the athletes' village. Big surprise. Their rooms will soon be retrofitted, and, in some cases, sold for millions of dollars. Another athletes' village as nice as the one Vancouver built is unlikely in the next 100 years. But as soon as the Paralympics conclude later this month, attention will once again focus on the economics of the development and how much of the nearly $1-billion that Vancouver taxpayers spent to bail out the project they are likely to get back. One of the more contentious aspects of that discussion is certain to involve the status and future of the 252 units of social housing to which the city had committed itself. It is a promise now likely to be broken. The final decision will have wide-ranging political implications for the governing Vision Vancouver party and its leader, Mayor Gregor Robertson. On one side are those who say the social housing is too expensive and would be better built, far cheaper, somewhere else. On the other are those who believe the city has a moral imperative to honour its obligation to make room for the poor in all big real estate developments. That group includes Jim Green, the legendary community development consultant. If Vision backs away from the social housing, he warned yesterday, "it will be a complete disaster for the party and the city. This income mix in real estate developments is key to the future of Vancouver." Perhaps. But Vision also must weigh the risks of going ahead with a plan that would come at an enormous cost to taxpayers. The social housing component of the project was supposed to cost about $65-million. It ballooned to $110-million. The worst cost overruns of the Olympic Village construction involved the three parcels of units set aside for social housing. Meantime, estimates show it would cost an additional $55-million to $75-million to subsidize the housing (keeping rents far below market value) over a period of 30 years or so, as originally planned. It would arguably be the most expensive social housing anywhere in the world. Complicating the issue is the fact the city could still end up losing $100-million or more from its stake in the project. You may recall that the city had to bail out the developer to the tune of about $900-million after the original lender, Fortress Investment Group, decided to bail because of nervousness about overruns. Now, given the bounce-back in the economy and the positive exposure the Olympic Village received during the Games, there is a much stronger likelihood Millennium Development will be able to repay all of its building loan. But that still leaves $170-million that it owes the city for the land upon which the project is built. It's entirely possible the city will not get that back. This creates a problem, because it was counting on that money to pay for the $160-million it spent on other infrastructure investments related to the project, such as soil remediation, a civic centre, a plaza and other improvements. Even if the city were to get half the money back, that still amounts to an $87-million loss, which makes it that much harder to justify spending possibly $180-million for 252 units of social housing. This is why council will be presented later this month with a range of options. The one being favoured at the moment is for the 252 units to be rented out, at rates slightly under market, possibly for seven to 10 years. At the end of that time, a decision would be made as to what portion to convert to social housing while selling the rest as condos at market value. The money saved by going this route would be used to build more social housing on another site at a much more cost-effective rate. Advocates like Mr. Green will not be thrilled with this solution. Mr. Green rejects any plan perceived as concentrating low-income people in one area, creating what he calls "massive ghettos." I don't think that's what the city has in mind; nonetheless, that is a sentiment it would face if it takes this option. Whatever happens, it seems certain now that the Olympic Village won't have 252 units of social housing. Any decision needs to be made soon. The units become available in April and nothing would be worse than having them sit empty - with potential dollars flying out their windows - while council dithers. This will be the biggest, most controversial decision this Vision government will make, the fallout from which may be felt into the next election. Please help me??? more

Resolved Question: Is this a good Greek mythology storyline?

This is a story I'm writing and I would like to know what you guys think. It is going to sound alot like that new movie with the gods but I have been had this idea from 4 years ago, before everyone else was all over the god's nuts. I need some opinions and I know it's pretty long but bear with me. So without further wastes of time, let us begin the plot. Adonis Long before the gods ruled the world, the titans controlled humanity. They ruthlessly killed and toyed with these humans, destroying and harassing their world. The major titans; earth, wind, fire, and water, one day create a being known simply as "Chaos." Chaos, became a ultimate being more wise than the other titans. He created twelve other beings in his view of perfection. The created beings became known as the gods. These gods quickly overpowered the titans as they believed them to be too foolish and barbaric. The gods then turn on their creator chaos, defeating and sealing him into a mountain. Mount Olympus. Later the gods rule the humans in peace. Zeus becomes the leader of the gods, while his equal Hades becomes jealous. Hades then breaks the cardinal rule amongst the gods; he interferes with human kind. He is banished to the underworld and loses half of his power as punishment. He vows revenge among the gods if it is the last thing he will do. Years later the nation of Greece is a empire. This is all because of one person, and his name is Adonis. Since his birth, Adonis has been unable to die and was far different from his counterparts. He quickly excelled through the ranks of the Greek army until he was declared the leader of the greek army at the age of 23. He marries the woman of his dreams and everything is looking bright for him. That is until one day he comes across a cave that has been haunting him in his dreams. He enters only to be sucked into a portal to the underworld. There he meets Hades who informs him that he is his son. Hades made Adonis' great, great, great grandmother sell over the soul of the child of Hades choice in order to save her father's life. He has chosen Adonis as his avenger, as he has already given him some of his abilities since child birth. He threatens Adonis, that if he does not do his bidding then he will take his mother' and wife's souls as payment. Adonis reluctantly agrees and becomes Hades bounty hunter in the world of gods. Adonis is quickly overwhelmed by the world he has now entered. He must kill Zeus and break the seal of Chaos in order to save his family. The only way to slay a god is to enter Mt. Olympus, and enter their personalized realms where each is unique to each god. In the end, Adonis defeats Zeus, giving Hades his full power back. Hades then unites with Chaos becoming a living realm. The gods try fighting the unstoppable Hades only for them to be defeated. Adonis knowing that he is the only one immune to Hades power then fights him. He eventually seals Hades back into the underworld saving Mt. Olympus. Adonis is then granted the complete power as a god. He is also punished by Zeus for his hand he has played in the destruction of Mt. Olympus. He is punished by being banished to the underworld. There he must collect souls for eternity, thus becoming known as "the grim reaper". Thus ending the story of Adonis....... I want Adonis to be a very human character with morals, who struggles to do his job and is very reluctant. In the end he admits to giving into his fantasies of war and power while fighting the gods. Sooooo, that is the main idea. I'm sorry it's so long and kind of confusing at times, but I need some helpful opinions. Sooooo, can you guys pitch some feedback? more

Open Question: Do you think i'll get an appeal from UCLA?

March 14, 2010 UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools 1147 Murphy Hall, Box 951436 Los Angeles, CA 90095-1436 Attn: Appeals Committee To whom it might Concern, I am writing to appeal my Fall 2010 decision sent out on March 12, 2010. I feel that my first application did not present sufficient information to clearly make me a competitive choice for UCLA. I urge you to read my letter in its entirety before evaluating your decision. Thank you. Perhaps the most important reason I feel I am a better candidate is that my interest and dedication to the field of science has grown dramatically since November of 2009. I was motivated to join Science Olympiad because wanted to do something new and different, also I felt it was a great opportunity to learn how to apply science. Science Olympiad is a very competitive science team which is composed of various events within many science fields. I chose to work in events related to physics and engineering. Over the course of these few months, we put in many long hours of study, work, and ideas to prepare ourselves for competition day. I put in more than what most students would. In fact I often spent the whole day from morning to night just working on my event. After a period of at least 70 hours working, I was able to build a machine similar to a Rube Goldberg device. Enclosed is a copy of the guidelines for both of my events. At the regional competition not only was I able to successfully complete my events, but I even received three different medals for my team, placing my team in top ranks against 18 different high schools. Attached is a newspaper article from our newspaper informing about my performance. I was amazed at my own abilities by beating the varsity team as a junior varsity teammate in Mission Possible. Through Science Olympiad, I was able to take a position as a leader in order to bring out team up to the top. I believe my leadership will contribute to the representation of Hispanics in the UCLA community. At school, my councilor said I am perhaps the first Hispanic at our school to be in the top 5% of our class of 420. Attached are letters of recommendation from some of my teachers. Because of my state of urgency, the letters here are directed towards scholarships, but I hope that you will be able to see that my teachers believe I have the potential to excel in the school of engineering. Aside from Science Olympiad, I also failed to document that I had participated in a college early start program which allowed me to take a Pre- Calculus class at San Joaquin Delta College. Over my junior summer break, I put in over 50 hours taking the course at Delta College. Attached also is a copy of my registration and my grade I received. The reason I took this class was because I wanted to get ahead to Calculus AP during my senior year. Finally, I did not inquire about my family’s financial situation. The estimated amount of income on my application was significantly higher than what my parents earned this year. Instead they made around $77,000. The amount is not bad; however, because of the recession, my sister in college, and many bills, we faced a challenging situation in which we were living on a month to month status. It got so bad to one point that I had to get a summer job at Taco Bell just so I could afford my personal things. In the last couple of months we have gone through a foreclosure and have had to move to different home. In spite of our financial situation, I kept my head up and was able to complete my junior year with a 4.3 GPA, join track field as well as soccer, volunteer at Lodi Memorial Hospital every week, and even tutor Mathematics and Biology. If I am given the honor to attend UCLA, I will plan to attend for Fall of 2010. I know that if selected I will contribute to the diversity and academic strength of UCLA. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to appeal and for taking the time to re-evaluate my situation. I appreciate your time, I really do. more
