Open Question: Wondering whether or not my job is going to last?
I was hired at a McDonald's in Scottsdale three weeks ago. As I only did volunteer work in high school, this is my first real job. I worked 24 hours my first week, 16 my second, and am currently in my third. Upon hiring me, the store manager informed me that I was on a 30-day trial period. I am very, very worried about maintaining my job because... 1) I don't know much Spanish, but I am wise enough to pick up on signals and body language that infer that a good portion of my coworkers don't like me. This has been confirmed by one of the shift leaders I work with. I am by no means racist, but I feel like this may be the case in my situation...everyone I work with is Hispanic, excluding two African American women. I am the ONLY white girl working there, and I get the feeling that maybe I'm not wanted for that exact reason. 2) I was forced to call out sick for a few days because of a concussion. I am involved in martial arts and was accidentally thrown off the mat one night, causing moderate head trauma. I was out of work for three days, although I did provide a doctor's note upon my return. 3) I am not the world's fastest learner. Even though I don't hesitate to ask for help, I usually have a ton of things to do at once, and it can overwhelm me somewhat easily. When I am overwhelmed, I become confused...it's a vicious cycle, I suppose. I do think I've improved since my first week...but I wonder how significantly... I am always polite to my coworkers, superiors, and customers...but it is my speed and accuracy that needs working on. The store manager is pretty much never there to witness how I work, so it is my coworkers/shift leaders/swing managers opinions against mine. I am a college student who has finally found something to pay the rent in this economy, and I don't want to lose it, but I fear I might. Thoughts? Would you consider firing me? moreOpen Question: can anyone help me find this manga?

Prologue Nurse Jane walked into the hospital room to check on the twin brother and sister who had just been born. Jane was used to caring for twins, but what the doctor hadn’t told her was that the parents of the twins were teenagers, no older than 18. Jane felt sorry for the couple, they had no one there supporting them, no friends or parents. But there was something different about these parents, Jane couldn’t quite put her finger on it, she just knew they were special. “How are you doing?” Jane asked the man. She looked at the thin file the doctor had given her. The man’s name was Zepp Chain and the woman was named Airan Gloss. “We’re doing fine,” Zepp said, smiling down at the mother, who lay in the hospital bed, the blue covers draped around her thin body. Zepp had the girl cradled in his strong arms and Airan held the boy. The boy had thick, dark brown hair and eyes, just like his father, Jane noted. The girl had little hair on her head, but it was definitely blond, unlike her mother who was a redhead. As Jane looked closely at the baby girl, she noticed she had mesmerizing purple eyes, which were mirror images of her mother‘s eyes. “May I see him?” Jane asked. Airan handed her his son and she cradled him in her arms. She began making faces and talking in a high pitched voice, making her self look like a fool. The baby put his small arms in the air and yawned. Jane noticed a black mark on the underside of the boy’s wrist. It was much like a tattoo and was in the shape of a sun, the rays curling off the perfect circle. What an unusual birthmark, Jane thought. Crash! Jane whipped around, startled. Shards of glass rained onto the ground from the broken window, a man had jumped in. He wore all black, and he closely resembled Zepp. He wore gloves and held a javelin in his hands. Jane tried to run out of the room, but the man threw his javelin and volts of electricity shot through her body and she fell to the ground almost immediately, barely alive. The baby boy fell to the ground, completely unphased. Larken reached over and picked up the boy. “Larken!” Zepp hissed. “How are we today, little brother?” Larken said, picking up his javelin and pointing it at Airan. He pulled his arm back and threw the javelin. There was no need to aim, the weapon always hit it’s mark. It was a gift from Phaeton, his leader. Zepp ran over to Airan and softly stroked her face. She wasn’t dead yet, she could still live. “Why are you here?” Zepp asked, tears rolling down his cheeks, which had been cut with glass from the broken window. “Phaeton’s orders. You know how the Shining One hates it when we disobey him,” Larken said coldly. Larken moved forward and punched Zepp in the face. Zepp staggered backwards and fell into a chair, the girl still in his arms. He quickly got up and ran to the window. Zepp threw his baby girl out the window, it was the only chance she had of survival, if Larken got a hold of her, he would kill her instantly. Zepp knew the girl would live, her instincts would surely kick in. Larken ran over to Zepp, fury etched on his face. Zepp tried desperately to get up and run, to save his son. But Larken, always having been stronger, pinned Zepp to the ground. Larken’s fists curled into a ball and he punched Zepp in the face. Zepp screamed in pain and tried to fight back, but Larken won out. He grabbed the baby, who was wailing as loudly as possible. “Give him back!” Zepp managed to get out through his mangled jaw, the bones crushed from the impact of Larken’s fist. Hundreds of years of training had gotten Larken very strong. Zepp jumped up and kicked Larken in the stomach. But Larken hadn’t felt anything, it was like a Zepp‘s fist had the power of a house fly. Zepp hadn’t trained in years, and had lost a lot of the strength he had had when he was younger. “Ha! You think you can overpower me!” Larken sneered. “I will always be better than you, little brother!” Larken then kicked Zepp in the head twice, knocking him unconscious. The baby continued to wail, as if it knew it had lost the only people in the world who would ever love him. Larken picked up Zepp’s body and slumped him over his shoulder. Larken carefully held the baby in his arms, if anything happened to him Phaeton would surely kill him. Larken jumped back out the window and jumped into the open air outside. The sky seemed to open up, then sucked Larken into it. *** The baby girl plunged down the twelve stories to the ground, but at the last moment transformed. She was a blue jay, flying high into the sky. Her wings were spread wide, a light blue with white tips. Snow fell all around her, cold on her feathers. She joyfully flew all around town, but finally got tired and landed softly on the ground below. And then she was a girl again, and had forgotten everything that had just happened, as babies generally do. A man, called Frank, wandered up the abandoned street. He wore a t-shirt and shorts, even though moreOpen Question: POLL What do you think I should do to settle this conflict once and for all?
Every time I launch an attack against the humans those pesky x-men show up and foil my plans. Now don't get me wrong, I have no personal animosity against them, I mean, they are mutants after all and they are simply following orders from their leader Charles Xavier. I was once good friends with Professor X, we were such good friends that it pains me to think that I may end up having to destroy him. But I cannot have him getting in the way of my plans of mutant liberation. He has chosen to befriend the humans, the very ones that are enslaving us and who seek our utter destruction! His vision is his folly and it will eventually be his downfall! It pains me to say this, but he has aligned himself with the enemies of mutant kind, therefor, he himself is an enemy to mutant kind and in this war of attrition no exceptions can be made, Xavier must be eliminated! He is the single greatest threat to mutant liberation, so long as he lives, mutant kind will remain in the shackles of oppression and will fail to rise up and take their place as homo superior, the next step in the evolution of mankind! I ask you as fellow mutants, what would you do in this predicament, would you let Xavier continue opposing mutant liberation, or would you settle the score once and for all? I tell you, there have been many times in which I literally had to hold myself back form simply crushing him, but, he is an old friend, the greatest friend I have ever had, which is why he is now my greatest foe! moreResolved Question: LeBron or MJ: who was a better TEAM leader?
I say LeBron.... honestly MJ was an overrated leader. Without Pippen he was a great player but his team was not so great at all and always had an early exit out of the playoffs..... but when Pippen lead the Bull during the time when MJ was retired he lead them to 55 wins and they were way better than the team that only had MJ..... That should tell you something. But on the other hand LeBron led his team of nobodies to the NBA finals in 2007.... I also think James makes his teammates better.... What do you guys think? moreOpen Question: Can you help me edit my class president speech?
One Vision, One Student Body, A Lifetime of Change Spending my seventh grade year at Townsend Junior High School has been one of the greatest and most beneficial experiences of my life. I am one of the luckiest people in the world to be going to such a wonderful school. Now, I would like to be Townsend’s president. I hope I can do many things to help all of Townsend reach its full potential. I want to be Townsend’s president because it is such an amazing school, and I would like to make it even better. Townsend is already one of the best schools, but there is always room for improvement. Together, we can make it the greatest school. Also, I want the exciting experience of becoming president of Townsend. I think it’s going take a person who will lead the effort. I feel very strongly about making Townsend a fantastic place to attend. I want to leave a mark at this school, and change it for the better. Years of our lives are spent at Townsend, and I would like to make those years memorable. This year, I am in Leadership. It has been such an amazing and exciting experience. It has given me so much insight into being a leader, organizing events, and learning to work well with others. In Leadership, you learn very much about knowing your priorities and deciding what is best for others and yourself. I’ve dealt with many problems, dilemmas, and situations where I’ve had to make hard decisions. It has been a life-changing experience. Dealing with deadlines and interacting with other people has showed me that communication and teamwork are really important. I understand that I must rely on others and listen to improve my skills in all areas. As a student at Townsend Junior High, I understand the pressures of middle school. I hear everything that students have to say about Townsend. In this way, I can be an even better president. I can relate to other students as well. I think of being president as being a bridge between the student body and the teachers. I know what other seventh and eighth graders wish to see transformed around the campus and in learning techniques. We can make changes as necessary throughout the school. This can help everyone progressively in many ways. There are numerous ways in which we can improve Townsend. Some of them I have recently heard around the school grounds. I have heard multiple people talking about how they wish to listen to music while running the mile. Music is a proven way to make you feel better and more energized, and as president I will try to meet this need. In addition, I would like more people to participate in spirit days. To do this, I will ensure that we have a wide range of spirit days that a majority of the school will participate in. I also want people to enjoy all the rallies and assemblies, and I will try my best to make them even better. I want people to be interested and involved, and I’m willing to go the distance to motivate our school to be active in all events. On a personal note, I have many experiences with being confident and having to do out-of-the-ordinary things. I ride dirt bikes, sand rails, and quads. I often travel with my family and friends to various places. In fact, I will be going to Japan this summer with a program founded by one of our presidents! I’ll come back with even more experience and knowledge about international cultures. I would like to thank the entire student body and the teachers for considering me as one of your Townsend Junior High candidates for president, especially the Leadership class. I want to plan more things for the students, so that Townsend Junior High isn’t just a place where we have to work hard and plan for the future, but also a place where we can have fun, enjoy the moment, and share a little school spirit. I hope that, together, we can make Townsend the “best in the west!” moreResolved Question: What do you think about Federal Government regulation of industry?
I always think about the most heavily regulated industries and why we have the most problems with them: 1) Financial Industry: If you think they were ever deregulated in a meaningful way, you were misled. They have the most regulation of any industry to deal with even today. Proof: http://www.sipa.columbia.edu/news_events/documents/OHalloranRegulationLessons.pdf 2) Energy Industry: We even have a Cabinet level appointment and Federal Department, and we can all agree that things are not getting better. 3) Health Care: Government regulates this industry heavily, everything from what plans have to offer to who you can buy them from. The have regulations for every aspect of the health care / insurance industry. Now think of an industry with little regulation, like the high tech industry. They are world leaders in many fields and touch our lives in important and serious ways every day, yet they function fine with almost no regulation. I am not saying we need to get rid of all regulation, I am all for some regulation but with enforcement of contracts and transparency for the markets. What do you think about regulation? And can you ever trust regulation not to degenerate into crony capitalism (i.e. the Government picks the winners in the market)?ryoshi10: Little known fact is that the companies themselves pay for the FDA inspectors.brown 950: The high tech industry sells many services, in fact these days the high tech industry is almost a total service industry. To begin with I talked with an Air Force recruiter given most of my family line has been Air Force. The problem is he's been a pain in the arse. To get some 'leverage' if that's even possible (no loss for trying) I went and talked to the Army recruiter after a 4 months of slow progress. My plan was to force his hand. A couple days after I went and did the ASVAB. I scored a 79. Now, I was hoping to go Intelligence as my family has been, both military and civvy. The army recruiter told me that's an ideal score for most anything. I couldn't be sure if he was trying to feed me propaganda or not, but I'm a cautious man and by nature I'm a little pessimistic and view worst-case scenarios. I do not lead a stress-free life and have learned to cope with it. Off of that, I'm thinking of going army. However my family aren't happy about that. Even I'm not sure. I've talked to people with 20+ years in the army (including someone in my family) and they've told me to go Air Force or Navy (AF being primary.) Problem is the AF and Navy are pretty much filled to capacity. However, I don't fancy being on the front line shooting at people. If the circumstances arrised where I absolutely had to, make no mistake I would. But I don't want it as a job. I'm 6'3(.5) and I've been on carriers and battleships before, and subs, and they're cramped, particularly for tall people like me. The Army, while assuring me a job of my choice, might do so only temporarily and hide some surprises in small clauses of what would obviously be a large pile of paperwork that would take a lawyer days to scrounge through. Please, can anyone offer any support? I want to get into the military before the beginning of May. I do not trust the recruiters, I don't want to rush into something I will regret, and I have a deadline; only problem is I don't want my rushing to incrementally form a 'deadline' of which is my corpse in a morgue. More details: I want to take ROTC, and go OCS (Officer) down the line, a year or two after being in the Service. A good leader is one who follows first, then leads imo. I plan on getting a degree in Psychology or Economics or both. Thank You.I want to go Air Force, but they're proving too slow. I know the saying "hurry up and wait" but 4 months is enough waiting as is. The Army is a quick path, but I'm wise enough to know shortcuts have their consequences. moreOpen Question: Who Are 10 Interesting Renaissance People?
Well, they don't HAVE to be interesting, but the more interesting the better.. Yeah I need 10 artists, reformation, scientists, enlightment leaders or masterpieces. (10 TOTAL, NOT 10 EACH!) It would also be really helpful if you included the date of their birth-death, where they lived, and their works (if they were an artist what were their most famous paintings?.. etc.) THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you can only think of a few, please post them as well. Thanks a BUNCH it means a lot. moreOpen Question: im upset with a seriest of things that ARENT happening to me but everyone else.?
lol its not a bf problem or anything but a lil bit about myself. i go to an advanced school thats one of the best where i live but its a public school for advanced students. i recently got pulled out of a private schools becaue of it was not enough of a challenge because i have always been the top student since 1st grade. in 7th grade i left and now i am in 8th going on9th. today my cousin got accepted to the highschool of MY dreams. i am a very hard worker in my family we allplay the piano (yes we are a typical asian familylols) but ive tried out and have not made it but my sister who isnt even near as half as good as me (no lie nor bragging) makes it into finals. then my brother who is the youngest gets promoted to the higher than advanced classes and i am just in regular AP classes. sometimes i feel like a failure because i want to be a leader in my family but im never good enough. my mother tells me my siblings learn from MY mistakes therefor if i do something wrong they learn from it and dont do it for idk how to explain. i dont know if i should quit but i am still determined to succeed in life. =( depressed much?? )= moreResolved Question: Job interview question?
This is more of a follow up from a previous question. And and insight will be welcome. I had an interview today, my first interview was 2 days ago and was told I would be contacted originally in 2 weeks. OK that being said I was contacted with 24 hours of my first interview which is a good sign. I'm well qualified for their position and I was told when I was called for a second interview that they may have other plans for me. Anyway I had the interview today with more team leaders and a couple HR managers, It went well in my opinion, it was more or less casual talk, we discussed my experience, past training, what I thought I could bring to the company and how it could benefit the company. All the while the one team leader whom just happens to work in an environment where I'd just spent the last 13 years seems to be slouching a little more and more in his seat, he became more and more quieter as the interview progressed and eventually he quit taking notes altogether. Everyone else seemed impressed with my credentials and were eager to see my certificates and training records. This team leader gave it a quick glance and passed it off with what I took as being disinterested. Anyway at the conclusion of the interview the HR manager was walking me to the lobby however we stopped about 10 feet from the the office that the interview was conducted in. We chatted about when I would hear back from them, what the next steps would be if I was successful and more or less were giving eachother our thanks. Anyway in the midst of our conversation we both heard the comment come from the office "he's more qualified for my job than I am". Well I heard it, the HR manager heard it and the look on his face was total embarassment. He quickly turned, took the few steps to the door, gave a nasty glare into the room and shut the door. He then approached me, thanked me for taking the time to come meet with them and sent me out the door. Now I'm thinking I'm not likely going to get this job. I didn't apply there to take anyones job or make someone upset that they might not have the credentials that I have. I applied for a general labourers position and it was the HR team that decided they may have other plans for me. My question is this to someone out there that is or has been a manager. If you had conducted an interview with other team leaders being present would you take their opinions into consideration when deciding who you do and don't hire? I think I had this interview nailed perfectly. I didn't studder, didn't draw a blank on any questions, asked questions back to the panel that the HR manager commented that he had never heard the question asked to the panel before and he'd been HR manager for 11 years. I don't know what to think, it ticks me off that someone can be so petty to someone that's looking for work that seems to have better credentials than they do. Sorry that this is soooo long winded. moreOpen Question: (Mutants only) What do you think I should do to settle this conflict once and for all?

Homework? Yes, Please. Homework is for squares. As if eight hours of school is not hard enough, students get home and find that there is more work to be done! After a hard day’s work, students should be able to relax and enjoy the nice weather. But instead, they are trapped in the house spending hours and hours on something that may or may not be counted as a grade. Although it may disrupt students’ lives outside of school, homework can be quite useful. In fact, homework is just what students need. Homework has the ability to improve academic performance. According to Viadero, studies show that kids who do more homework perform better academically. Even though the assignment might not be taken up for a grade, students should still do the work and check their answers in class. Homework allows students to practice and solidify the new concepts learned in school through practice at home (Wagner). If a student attempted to do his or her homework, but was unsuccessful, it would still help the student in identifying his or her weak points. These weak points can be resolved through tutoring with the teacher. For instance, if a student does not do the assigned synthetic division problems that were assigned for homework, she may not figure out that she had been doing one step of the process incorrectly until the day the test was returned graded. She might want to retake the test, but the teacher does not give retakes. It pays on test days to go the extra mile. Of course, homework may not always fit into students’ tight schedules. One concern is kids these days are too busy to do homework (Frerking 8). According to Frerking, kids barely have any idle time to just “sit under a tree and think about things" (8). Some students have sports to practice, chores to do, pets to feed, and friends to keep up with. How can they juggle all of these activities while managing to find time to do homework? To remedy this, students can plan. According to Schouten, students should “set aside time” in a good learning environment, such as the library, to do homework. Writing in the school-provided agenda helps students to organize their free periods, such as study hall, for home-working. Students will succeed in school if they get all the practice needed. Smart, innovative students will result in a better future for everyone. The cure for cancer or the reversal to global warming may even be discovered! If the world is to keep moving forward technologically, then students must continue to do their assigned homework. Students today will be the leaders of tomorrow.i don't know, but the teacherr said that we use the oppositions arguments in the introduction to add credibility and then you can state your position. my position was that i'm for homework. moreResolved Question: Who is better Lebron or Kobe?
I think Lebron. I go my stats and characteristics. Lebron has better stats, he's a better leader. and hes basically a better athlete. I don't want to hear "how many rings does lebron have?" because it takes "team" work to win a championship and im asking on an individual basis. I also dont care about Kobe's buzzer beaters because if that's what makes him better than Lebron, then I could name dozens of basketball players that nail buzzer beaters that you could also say are better than Lebron. I'm only asking this because recently I've heard stuff about how Kobe dominates the league, but I don't agree. My view: #1: Lebron. #2: Wade. #3 Kobe moreOpen Question: How does this beginning sound? Quick spooky read?
Wrote this in a half hour, and edited it a bit, but its still pretty rough. CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS PLEASE!!! I WANNA GET BETTER!!! Prologue It's my mother's fault I'm dead. Well, that's not entirely true. I'm dead in a sense, but not completely. You see, when I was born to her, she was a member of the cult "Death's Associates". She was a worshiper of death in hope that he would love her and the rest of the cult more and would have mercy on them so that they would not die. How stupid they were. Death doesn't know what love or mercy are. All he knows is greed and pain. Even being a small child I was not so ignorant, but my mother was caught up in it all, or rather, brainwashed. She was like a robot, following the orders of the leader not steeping out of line, never speaking her opinion. I'm not sure she even had one anymore. For as long as I can remember the leader and his priests told everyone what to do. When I was younger, and still had a will of my own, I broke the rules by asking why the leader was in charge. I was promptly beaten, but still had not learned my lesson. A few years later I asked my mother who my father was. She sat me on her knee and patted down my big blonde curls. "Juliet," she began, "Your father is a very important man. He gave me the privilege of producing new life, which he and I knew was very dangerous." I turned my head to the side and played with her silver bracelet. "But why is it dangerous?" "Death is not a fan of life. We must abide to his wishes if we are to hope to gain the gift of immortality." "My Dad had the power to defy death?" My mother's face became dark. She looked around our hut and outside our window to make sure no one was listening. Or watching. Then she whipped her head around and slapped me. "Don't talk like that again! If death hears you and thinks that we are arrogant enough to assume we are above him, he'll smite us all!" I began to cry and she dumped me off her lap. "Go help the other girls collect water now Juliet. I don't have time for your stupidity right now. Pray Death doesn't drown you when you lean over the bank." I stopped crying and picked myself up. What would she care if Death drowned me? She'd rejoice because it wasn't her it happened to she would! I didn't drown though. I drew the water from the stream and brought it back to our hut so that we could bathe. My mother didn't thank me or acknowledge that I had come home. She didn't apologize for smacking me earlier, so I didn't apologize for saying what I had. She still hadn't answered my question either. In fact, after that incedent, we pretty much ignored each other for the next 6 months. We went about our lives, doing our chores, worshiping in the temple, and going to school. Then I turned eight. The leader of our cult had a vision of the apocalypse. He told us the only way to appease Death, he told us that a sacrifice must be found. A human sacrifice. My mother did nothing to stop them from taking me. She probably thought it would make Death more fond of her. Idiot. They, the cult members, took me to a great stone that had been placed in the center of our community. I remember the strange shapes carved into it, possibly some ancient language. Possible chisel marks. I remember the feel of gravel under my back as I was dragged out of my hut in the middle of the night. But most of all, I remember the silence. Nobody stepped forward and told our leader that they thought he was crazy, no one tried to rescue me. My mouth was gagged so I certainly couldn't say anything. Two of the leaders most honored priests held my arms and legs so tightly I thought they would break. And then I was tied down onto the stone. A shiver ran down my back at the cold of the rock. I began to cry but my sobs were muffled by the rag. Not that crying solved the matter. The leader and his goons began to circle me chanting in a strange language that would start the rite. Then they stopped. The leader pulled out a long, sharp knife. It glinted in the sunlight casting an eerie shine to his face. The leader knelt down beside my neck and raised it. And then he brought it down. Chapter 1 "No. No more. You can't make me." "Yes I can Juliet," Death whispered in my ear, running a bony finger across the scar on my neck. "I control you. You are mine. Forever." A tear ran down my cheek. I didn't want to. I hated doing Death's dirty work. I hated the look on my victim's faces right before I murdered them. The look of betrayal. I was supposed to be their friend, wasn't I? Why was I pushing them in front of the train? Why was I smothering them? The answer was, I had to. Death made me. But I couldn't tell them that. They were dead before the question could pass their lips. "This is the last one though. Okay?" I asked quietly. "Possibly... forever is a long time, I might just change my mind." Death slipped into the shadows that surrounded me, only his scythe could be seen gleaming in the dark. "It's a young oIt's a young one this time. You're going to be about five, so I suggest not murdering them. It will make the humans suspicious, and we don't want another Tampa indecent. Do we?" I shook my head slowly. "Good. Now get out of my sight." He turned and left. I slowly started to dematerialize , one particle at a time. I closed my white eyes as my eyelashes turned into a glittery dust and went to wherever dust was sending me. I secretly hoped that this wasn't my last assignment. I desperately wanted to be the one to murder the man who was the leader of the cult "Death's Associates" and if it wasn't me, I wanted to watch. moreOpen Question: Is this a good greek mythology storyline?
This is a story I'm writing and I would like to know what you guys think. It is going to sound alot like that new movie with the gods but I have been had this idea from 4 years ago, before everyone else was all over the god's nuts. I need some opinions and I know it's pretty long but bear with me. So without further wastes of time, let us begin the plot. Adonis Long before the gods ruled the world, the titans controlled humanity. They ruthlessly killed and toyed with these humans, destroying and harassing their world. The major titans; earth, wind, fire, and water, one day create a being known simply as "Chaos." Chaos, became a ultimate being more wise than the other titans. He created twelve other beings in his view of perfection. The created beings became known as the gods. These gods quickly overpowered the titans as they believed them to be too foolish and barbaric. The gods then turn on their creator chaos, defeating and sealing him into a mountain. Mount Olympus. Later the gods rule the humans in peace. Zeus becomes the leader of the gods, while his equal Hades becomes jealous. Hades then breaks the cardinal rule amongst the gods; he interferes with human kind. He is banished to the underworld and loses half of his power as punishment. He vows revenge among the gods if it is the last thing he will do. Years later the nation of Greece is a empire. This is all because of one person, and his name is Adonis. Since his birth, Adonis has been unable to die and was far different from his counterparts. He quickly excelled through the ranks of the Greek army until he was declared the leader of the greek army at the age of 23. He marries the woman of his dreams and everything is looking bright for him. That is until one day he comes across a cave that has been haunting him in his dreams. He enters only to be sucked into a portal to the underworld. There he meets Hades who informs him that he is his son. Hades made Adonis' great, great, great grandmother sell over the soul of the child of Hades choice in order to save her father's life. He has chosen Adonis as his avenger, as he has already given him some of his abilities since child birth. He threatens Adonis, that if he does not do his bidding then he will take his mother' and wife's souls as payment. Adonis reluctantly agrees and becomes Hades bounty hunter in the world of gods. Adonis is quickly overwhelmed by the world he has now entered. He must kill Zeus and break the seal of Chaos in order to save his family. The only way to slay a god is to enter Mt. Olympus, and enter their personalized realms where each is unique to each god. In the end, Adonis defeats Zeus, giving Hades his full power back. Hades then unites with Chaos becoming a living realm. The gods try fighting the unstoppable Hades only for them to be defeated. Adonis knowing that he is the only one immune to Hades power then fights him. He eventually seals Hades back into the underworld saving Mt. Olympus. Adonis is then granted the complete power as a god. He is also punished by Zeus for his hand he has played in the destruction of Mt. Olympus. He is punished by being banished to the underworld. There he must collect souls for eternity, thus becoming known as "the grim reaper". Thus ending the story of Adonis....... I want Adonis to be a very human character with morals, who struggles to do his job and is very reluctant. In the end he admits to giving into his fantasies of war and power while fighting the gods. Sooooo, that is the main idea. I'm sorry it's so long and kind of confusing at times, but I need some helpful opinions. Sooooo, can you guys pitch some feedback? moreOpen Question: Do you really want to see Hall and Waltman vs Nash and Eric Young at Destination X?
First off Hall is out of shape Nash is older than dirt Waltman who knows if he can wrestle and although I believe Eric Young needs a bigger role in TNA I don't think this is the right fit for him. He would have been better to be left the global champion. I don't see what his alignment with Kevin Nash is doing for his career. Why couldn't they left EY with World Elite as their leader and then he could have been something? moreOpen Question: I need some help with american history?

The article needs to include information about the persons's life and activities. I don't understand really good, I've got my sources but i don't know how to put my research into a newspaper headline. I really need your help guys, this project is for tomorrow and is worth 100 points, i also have to do an interview but i can do that by my own. I just need this little help from you all. I appreciate it so much. Here my research: Winthrop, John - 1588–1649, governor of the Massachusetts Bay colony, b. Edwardstone, near Groton, Suffolk, England. Of a landowning family, he studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, came into a family fortune, and became a government administrator with strong Puritan leanings. A member of the Massachusetts Bay Company, he led the group that arranged for the removal of the company's government to New England and was chosen (1629) governor of the proposed colony. He arrived (1630) in the ship Arbella at Salem and shortly founded on Shawmut peninsula the settlement that became Boston. He was—with the possible exception of John Cotton—the most distinguished citizen of Massachusetts Bay colony, serving as governor some 12 times. He helped to shape the theocratic policy of the colony and opposed broad democracy. It was while he was deputy governor and Sir Henry Vane (1613–62) was governor that Winthrop bitterly and successfully opposed the antinomian beliefs of Anne Hutchinson and her followers, who were supported by Vane. The force of his influence on the history of Massachusetts was enormous. Winthrop's journal, which was edited by J. K. Hosmer and published in 1908 as The History of New England from 1630 to 1649 is one of the most valuable of American historical sources. http://www.questia.com/library/john-winthrop.jsp Winthrop, John (1588–1649), leader of the Puritan settlement in New England and first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.Between 1602 and 1620, John Winthrop attended Trinity College, Cambridge; studied law; was married three times and widowed twice; took over his father's estate at Groton Manor; served as justice of the peace; and became an acknowledged Puritan. Throughout the 1620s, economic pressures, political crises, and his intensifying engagement with Puritanism led Winthrop to despair of England's future and to join other Puritans planning an escape to America. As governor of the newly formed Massachusetts Bay Company, his sermon in 1630 on board the Arbella —“A Modell of Christian Charity”—defined the Puritans’ mission to create a biblical commonwealth in covenant with God that would “be as a Citty upon a hill.” Winthrop's Journal documents his skillful guidance and leadership during the first two decades of settlement. A generally moderate man, he tried to balance the authority of the governors with the liberties and interests of the governed, seeking harmony in the face of conflicts and emphasizing communal over private interests. Deeply religious, he endeavored also to balance his lifelong quest for assurance of grace with an appreciation of life's pleasures, opposing Anne Hutchinson's claims to absolute spiritual assurance and Roger Williams's perfectionism. His wisdom, intelligence, and political acumen helped insure the survival and success of the Puritan experiment in America. Okay here is my world history essay it is a continuation and changes over time essay would you please tell me if the essay is good or what I need to add to it From 1000 to 500 B.C.E three groups inhabited the Roman region; they were the Latin’s, Greeks, and Etruscans. The Latin’s considered to be the first Romans built the original settlement atop Palatine Hill. From the time of Rome being ruled by Etruscans kings to the collapse of the western empire to Attila the Hun, despite the numerous government changes from a monarchy to a republic to an empire, Rome was persistent to strive to prosper and expand their empire no matter the government or ruling force in power. During the time of earliest Rome settlers Rome was dominated by the Etruscans, a group of skilled metalworkers and engineers. Around 600 B.C.E an Etruscan came to power. In the decades that followed, Rome grew from a collection of hilltop villages to a city that covered nearly 500 square miles. Various kings ordered the construction of Rome’s first temples and public centers. The last king of Rome was Tarquin the Proud. A harsh tyrant, he was driven from power in 509 B.C.E Throughout the time 1000 to 31 B.C.E Rome went through several political changes. In 509 B.C.E Rome overthrew Tarquin the Proud and vowed they would never again be ruled by a kind. Instead, they established a republic, from the Latin phrase res publica, which means “public affairs.” A new era was born. The margin of social classes between the plebeians and patricians was great. Originally the plebeians were barred from holding important government positions, but that soon changed with the new era. In time Rome’s leaders allowed the plebeians to form their own assembly and elect representatives called tribunes to protect the rights of the plebeians. Tribunes were important because they protected the rights of the plebeians from unfair acts of patrician officials. Under Etruscans rule there was one autocrat how had total control. In the Roman republic there was two officials called consuls. Like kings, they commanded the army and directed the government, however their power was limited and a consul’s term was only one year. This made it so two people were at charge at the executive position unlike a king who had total control one consul could always overrule, or veto the other’s decision. During the time of Tarquin the proud there was no legislative or judicial branch. This change was important because the executive position was not the most powerful. During the Roman Republic the senate was always the most powerful group, only the assembly could approve or disapprove of one of their laws and only the assembly elected candidates for the office of consul this created a basic system of balance. For the period of the Roman Republic there was an aristocratic branch called the senate, a centuriate assembly consisting of citizen-soldiers who selects consuls and make laws. Later, plebeians were allowed in the senate the Tribal Assemble, an assemble organized by the plebeians elected the tribunes and made laws for the common people and the republic itself in time. Unlike monarchy Rome the Roman republic had a legal code the Twelve Tables written by a decemirivi in 451 B.C.E, the Twelve Tables. Prior to this with laws unwritten patrician officials often interpreted the law to suit themselves. This was important because the Twelve Tables protected the rights of plebeians and established the idea that all free citizens had a right to the protection of the law. Despite the numerous political changes, Rome had maintained some continuity throughout its history. The Roman senate still existed despite having being an inferior power to the emperor during the Roman Empire. The senate remained the last stronghold of the traditional Roman religion in the face of spreading Christianity. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the senate continued to function under the barbarian chieftain Odoacer, and then under Ostrogothic rule. Even though Rome was a republic at one point they still had somebody in charge of the executive position. As a republic Rome had two consuls and acted as kings they commanded the army and directed the government. However, under a republic the consuls powers was limited and the other consul could always veto the others decision unlike a king who had sole power. Rome always had a form of civil system. This was important because this meant that the government had citizens construct Rome’s temples and public centers the most famous of which was the Forum, the heart of Roman political life. Despite all the political changes the eastern empire experienced the western empire was able to maintain most of the eastern empire original laws and ideas, such as the Twelve Tables. From the time of Tarquin the Proud to the collapse the western empire to Germanic tribes. Although Rome experienced many political changes they maintained some continuity. To this day the United moreResolved Question: Who were the major countries and their leaders of the WW1?

Please please please read this!! I'm begging you! A puff of black wings rose from the trees of Muhr, as a thunderous roar echoed from the land below. “Who goes there?” Malkar demanded, grimacing in pain and rubbing his side with hope to cure the wound that had aroused him from his slumber. “It is I brother, sorry to have waken you, but something terrible has happened,” said the voice of Tula, his scrawny body trembling, and his hand enclosed around a sharpened stick. Blinking a few times, Malkar relieved himself from his state of drowsiness and spoke to the small man in front of him. “Terrible you say, but how could that be. The night is at peace and my brothers are fast asleep.” Silence filled the woods, the glow of the moon illuminating the sorrow of Tula’s face. “Yes, that I know brother, but that is indeed the problem.” Interlocking his fingers, he stared at the muddied ground. “Returning from the woods, I noticed a strange figure looming in the darkness. I assumed it was a male for its stout figure, but all I could really tell was it had a mark of lines and swirls engraved upon its bare chest, which I believe belongs to. . .” “Eor,” Malkar whispered. “The bringer of death.” “Yes.” Tula agreed, bowing his head and placing his hand on Malkar’s broad shoulder.”Our brothers are no more.” Without a seconds hesitation, Malkar ran to his brothers, each of the five bodies lying around a dying fire. He shook them each with an equal amount of ferocity, their pallid skin cold and lifeless under his touch. “W-w-why?” he stuttered raising each of their eyelids, but only finding glazed marbles underneath. “S-s-so m-much we w-went t-through.” He choked, pressing his hand, knees and head against the ground. “There, there. You were a good leader, and look on bright side, you now have five less to lead,” Tula chuckled, his sorrow from the previous moments washed clean off his face. “What a dastardly thing to say Tula! Why have you suddenly turned so cruel?” Malkar sniffed, using his beard to wipe away the tears on his cheeks. “I’m sorry, but it’s true. It is just you and me now.” “That may be, but it is by no means necessary for you to say what you said.” Malkar scolded. “It won’t happen again, I promise.” “Good.” Malkar said rubbing his puffy eyes and walking back to his tree. “Gather your things, we will be off before the sun rises.” He ordered, bending over to pick up his hidden possessions, stowed inside his tree, and place them in a leather sack. “Move why don’t you, I may have five less to lead, but I am still in charge of you.” Tula stared at Malkar with confusion, his thick eyebrows furrowing and crimson shirt ruffling in the early morning breeze. “But where are we going?” Malkar looked around the enclosed meadow, throwing the sack over his shoulder and trying to swallow away the pain in his throat, caused by his endless tears. “To avenge the death of our brothers, are you truly that stupid not to know?” Malkar said harshly and propped his hat on top of his graying hair. “Oh . . . But shouldn’t we go when the sun has come up? It is far too dark to go in the woods at this hour and we don’t even know where to begin.” “Would you like to be discovered Tula, and captured by elves or eaten by trolls? The night is our only cover and without it we have no chance in getting to the home of Eor.” Walking towards the trees, he motioned for Tula to come. “Now we have wasted time, it is a good thing I know where he lives.” Taking one quick glance back at the deceased dwarves, Tula followed Malkar with nothing more than the clothes on his body and the food in his belt. They trudged through the thick woods, fallen trees and wild moss complicating their way. Cursing under their breath, they struck at flying bugs and cut at tall seas of grass. “We must be close,” Tula said, pausing to catch his breath. “Not too far,” Malkar answered and pulled a canvas canteen out of his sack. “About thirty minutes I would say.” When the thirty minutes had ended, the two came across a fork in the wood. “I’m guessing Eor lives that way?” Tula said and pointed to a path rugged and dark, with thickets of dead trees and meatless carcasses lying in their branches. “You would think that, but surprisingly it isn’t. It is the one on the left.” Pointing to the path, it glowed with the rays of the early morning sun. Its smooth trail covered with patches of grass and lined with bushes of roses and berries. “But may you be warned, looks can be deceiving.” Tula observed the paths with a troubled expression, his stomach seeming to fill with a substance as solid as lead. “So let us not stand and stare but continue the final steps of our journey.” Harsh winds blew against them as they stepped onto the path, their beards billowing like the sails of a ship. “What’s happening?” Tula shouted, the paths landscape evaporating under their feet and forming into a trail of dead trees and cawing crows. “I told you looks can be de moreOpen Question: Isn't it strange how Obama's trying to sell a bill that hasn't been written and may not have the votes to pass?
A) the House would first have to vote for the Senate bill passed in December (the same bill that contains the Cornhusker Kickback, Labor Loophole, PhRMA deal, etc.).............the same bill polls have consistently shown the public does not support. B) The Senate would then have to pass a sidecar bill via reconciliation (that would "fix" all the sellouts Dems made during 2009). The public has yet to see this bill and the CBO has yet to score this bill. So wouldn't Obama's 2010 campaign work better if he had written bill to show to the public?? The companion bill has not yet been made public, and a protracted debate is expected in the Senate, where Republicans vow to resist even though they will not be able to block passage by mere talk. Obama's stated goals across more than a year of struggle has been to extend coverage to millions who lack it, ban insurance industry practices such as denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing conditions and cut costs. Republicans dismissed Obama's argument instantly. "The American people have heard all this rhetoric from the president before, and they continue to say loudly and clearly they do not want a massive government takeover of health care," said House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio. moreOpen Question: Which of these movie ideas is your favorite?

I just saw it tonight. It was pretty good, i guess. My favorite parts were in the beginning and the middle when the first bomb tech and the doctor died. I love seeing Retarded Soldiers die. Soldiers that are stupid enough to go fight in Unjust, Illegal, Immoral Wars of Aggression to secure Economic and Geopolitical interests for a privileged few in the US. I love seeing them slapped in the face with reality. They think they're gonna be greeted as liberators but instead find IED's waiting for them. Good. You want to be the enforcers of hegemonic policies? Fine, come get some. I'm not Iraqi or Afghan or even Muslim. But i am from the region. And i'm sick and tired of the US government working with our corrupt, obsequious leaders so that Multinational Companies can continue their pillaging of Our resources and exploitation of our labor and the American people can live in a deluded world. Thanks for maintaining dictators from Egypt to Saudi to Pakistan and beyond. - An angry World Citizen who's waiting for either the American public to wake up (not likely since they're so incredibly Retarded, but who can blame them with that wonderful Propaganda model in the US that the most ruthless of despots would love to replicate?) or, if not, then is waiting for the day that those who have had guns pointed towards them, those who have been subjugated and impoverished, get to throw some Lead back. My persuasive essay is about leadership in the movie Remember the Titans. It answers the question: Who is a better leader? Coach Boone or Coach Yoast? I'm having some major problems with naming it. This is my essay: "Win or lose… We gonna walk out of this stadium tonight with our heads held high. Do your best. That's all anybody can ask for." Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. In the movie Remember the Titans, based on a true story, Alexandria's schools are integrating and three high schools are brought together as one. An African-American replaces a white coach as the head football coach and throughout the movie, their leadership skills and character are challenged as they both face obstacles. Previously, Coach Boone was fired from his head coach position, with the school board claiming that “it was not ready for a black head coach.” Three years later, he is offered the head coach position and Coach Yoast becomes an assistant coach, initially protesting because he does not want to work under a black coach. Although both coaches are great leaders and have played a major role in the Titans' success, Coach Boone displays better leadership. He has the ability to bring out the best in people and he never gives up, facing racism with a strong head-on attitude. He always treats everybody fairly, demanding the best from everybody, regardless of their skin colour. The strongest leaders of the world all have the ability to bring out the best in people. Coach Boone is a better leader, because of his strong persistence in making everybody on the team respect each other and coaxing their best qualities out of them. Without this important quality, the Titans would not have played like a team. Instead, they would have only looked out for themselves, like the way Julius Campbell acts like when he first starts out in football camp. At football camp, Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell become best friends (even calling each other blood brothers when Julius visits Gerry in the hospital) and they become more open-minded, realizing that nothing could separate blacks and whites. Coach Boone constantly demands perfection, continually raising the Titans' standards. He is very harsh, forcing his players to get past the strong mental barriers they have implanted in their heads with demanding warm-ups and practices. This is shown in football camp when the whistle is blown and Coach Boone asks, "What is pain?" and the football players respond with French bread. During one of the football games, he gives Ronnie 'Sunshine' Bass a speech, in which he says that his siblings needed him when his parents died and the team needs Sunshine tonight to make the pitch. Encouraged, Sunshine wins the game for the Titans. While bringing out the best in his players, he teaches the team to never give up and to fight for what you believe in. A characteristic of a great leader is treating everybody fairly. When Coach Yoast takes aside Petey Jones and gives him a patronizing talk that encourages him to play better, Coach Boone says that although he is a mean cuss, he's the same mean cuss to everybody. "You ain't doin' these boys a favor by patronizing them. You crippling them; you crippling them for life," he says to Coach Yoast and that could not be more true. The world and the people in it are not there to satisfy the role of Patronizing Encourager. They have to learn that there is no limit and that only they (nobody else) can make their dream attainable and fulfill all their goals. Coach Boone does not coddle any of his football players and teaches them how to fend for themselves and to be tough. An example of Coach Boone treating everybody the same and not giving any preferential behavior to the black football players (like Gerry Bertier initially thinks) is when Petey is playing badly in the first Titans game. Coach Boone yells at him, "You're killing me, Petey! You're killing me!" Another good example is the harsh football camp that Coach Boone runs to eliminate football players. There is no difference in the way he treats people of different race. When Blue Stanton says he's tired and they need a water break, Boone says that they'll do up-downs until Blue isn't tired or thirsty. People might say that Coach Boone is too harsh and that treating everybody fairly does not make or break a leader. However, Boone believes that the only way to improve someone is to harden him or her and that this constructive criticism given by Coach Yoast only weakens them, providing them little defense in the real world. Coach Boone displays strong leadership and strong leadership does not crumble under pressure. Weak leadership, however, does. To be a strong leader, you must not give preferential treatment or inflict bias on anybody. Coach Boone, unlike Coach Yoast, does not see skin colour like the other coaches do; he only sees football players and skin colour does not come into his decision toSorry, the essay got cut off. It's too long. =.= But you should get the basic gist of it. moreVoting Question: My wife of 10 years constantly invites her ex lovers, ex boyfriends, ex husband over for family gatherings..?
I understand inviting the ex husband with his wife for special occasions since my wife and her ex do share a daughter together who is now 24 and with her own child. What i don't understand is inviting her ex lover with his wife and kids, her random ex boyfriends with their girlfriends...they are all nice people and all...but I really do not feel comfortable sitting at a table full of people who f***** my wife. Am I being unreasonable? she IS a very charismatic and beautiful woman but sometimes I feel like she doesn't understand me. I told her how I feel about this and she just says, "Michael, please you're giving me a headache" Please somebody offer me advice on how to approach this another way? ps...we were also on holiday all together (she invited all of them with my money by the way!) and her ex lover was hugging my wfe from behind (his wife was present) and saying, "you know how much i love you" i understand this is all innocent and she likes being this mother teresa and 'leader" of the pack...but frankly I'm getting sick of it. *It seems like she doesn't take me seriously...she either tells me to be quiet, rolls her eyes, talks very quietly and calmly and I am angry, sighs. The problem is that i am madly in love with her and I want her 24/7 and the sex is great. So that is why I have been putting up with this for this long. She invites everyone over to our place...we have a house in the countryside. She buys everyone expensive gifts....(with my money...not that I'm gready or anything but she bought her ex husband that's broke a rolex---and she doesn;t work) she also invites catering over on these get togethers..."as if that's really needed"...we have a 5 year old daughter together so usually her ex's bring all their kids around too...which is you know, annoying is an understatement. Oh and yeah...since my wife's older daughter who is 24 had a baby recently guess who has to support the baby? me of course. I bought her a car, apartment, and she had an affair with my chauffer! so now the chauffer lives with my wife's daughter and whenever I need to be picked up...I have to wait until the daughter let's him go....I put up with so much and this is what I get in return? *another thing that really annoys me is when everyone gets a little tipsy (from wine) her ex husband starts telling everyone how madly in love they were in college and the passion they had...that they were each other's firsts.... *by the way...i bought MY ex wife (we share a son together) a new car and my wife went crazy on me over it....but when she does random things it's okay. *Apart from that she is a great wife....don't get me wrong...always keeping everything in a very neat condition, running the household, very good cook, takes care of her wifely duties...but the guest issue is just way over my head. (For those of you who say invite your ex wife along I would and my wife tells me to but my ex wife says, "no thanks" lol " I started seeing my current wife when i was still married with my ex and she was pregnant with our son so she still didn't let go of those hurt feelings) On those "gathering" I just flirt with my wife's friend's daughter when she brings her along...she's 22 and cute as a button. oh and to add to that...I support my wife's dad financially who lives in Cuba and has a whole different family which is broke. I basically support half of Cuba since their family is so huge. (I wouldn't mind this at all...if my wife didn't show me how much she appreciates things that are done for her) And I tried controlling her spending (I don't mind if she spents money because I do earn quite a lot...but she comes home from boutiques very frequently with almost half of the clothes in the store! she hides the checks and everything...an I fought with her OVER and OVER again. A couple of times i have lost my cool and pushed/shoved her onto the couch and spanked her...he calms down and then starts acting like her old self again... but when he had our little angel daughter I let things slide...I do give up...we have a child together anyway moreVoting Question: Please answer and give me the right deffinition? All feedback welcome, most feedback=10pts!?
I am Writing a little some thing and wondered if it was good. Beware: It is not finished, and the names are ridiculous! Here it goes: Prologue “As leader of the Elder Council, and the Wizened Council alike, I have 3, err, nominations you could say, for The One.” I’m going to be honest here, for once. Kronos was getting old. Hell, he should be dead by now. He had to die sooner or later, right? I wouldn’t do it myself, no way, but I could see a couple of people who would. Anyways I listened to the old wreck. “Garbhan Micitaro, Mage of the 9th level, from the land of Tazukoon. Chapter 1: Suspicions confirmed. I had my suspicions about him awhile before he run a sword through my chest. I saw it coming. Though, if I had seen it earlier, I might not be bleeding to death. I checked my Spirit Gauge. It wasn’t high. But high enough to cast minor spells. “Heal.”My voice sounded deceased. Well, at least my inner guts were functioning as they once had, although that didn’t stop my bleeding. Aeton bounded over to me on his black stallion. “Garbhan, Are you all right. Let me fix that.” His voice was comforting. Though not as half as comforting as the much stronger Heal that he got my fellow mage, Luscious Krakun, to cast upon me. I sat up. “Seems as though Garbhan is fine. Good. Now, who did this?” Luscious asked, looking anxious. I told him. “Cain” I spat the bloody traitors name out. I stood up, brushed of my robes, picked up my staff, Klust, and preformed a spell. “Tegora sommonus Dracato!” My dragon materialized by my side. I climbed onto it. “You guys manage things down here; I’ll provide help from the skies. When I send” I hesitated, “orange sparks in the sky, we’ll rendezvous at the tower. May Toroks’ spirit watch over you.” “As well with you.” They replied. As they went to the battlefield, I took to the skies with my dragon, Tegora. Aeton, being one of the swords not the staff, battled the vicious ogres, werewolves, and zombies alongside his fellow warriors. Behind them, mages sent whirling spells, curses, and the occasional heal for our allies. I thought about this battle. What was the point? All of this fuss, just about some sleazy kid. I mean the prophecy clearly describes a handsome and strong hero. Clearly me, but the Wizened council alongside with the Elder council, thought the hero destined to kill Lord Foulon, the all-mighty evil leader, was the lazy, irritating, cheeky Harrison Dekolath! And he’s half mortal! Goddamn it, if I hadn’t saved that loser from a mini sphinx (that was quite the easy kill, mind you lads) he would be under the ground. moreVoting Question: I've been thinking of writing an Iraq war novel. A partial chapter is below. Comments and Feedback, positive a?
Working Title is "Parabellum" For two days and two nights, Faisel watched the soldiers as they walked along the tracks of the railroad towards Baghdad. They no longer looked like the great Iraqi army he remembered. They looked like refugees, clothed in uniforms that had once belonged to soldiers. The railroad ran along the edge of his fields and the soldiers left their clothing, equipment, and even some weapons scattered into his crop rows. If the soldiers still had their rifles they carried them reluctantly now, slung low across their backs. Their barrels pointing towards the ground, prepared to surrender. They moved at an awkward pace in small clusters or in groups as large as twenty, some walked alone in their misery, those with injured feet walked much slower than the rest. Leaders of these groups Faisel learned, when they drank from his well, were the oldest amongst them, or the physically strongest. Sometimes Faisel could see clearly, they had been elected for the depth of their voice or grayness of their beards alone. To salvage their honor they condemned the Ba’athists as tyrants and hypocrites while swearing to spill the blood of the infidels once they reached the cities. “Godless!” “Shameless!” “Alluh Akbar!” They’d say. Upon seeing the flashes of explosions on the horizon, the sounds rolling like thunder, the light fading like lightening, but without the feeling of rain, or a storm coming. Gone was any resemblance to the order and discipline of their recent profession. Their clothing and hair was filthy and the beards of those old enough to grow them were long and uneven. Some who had no boots walked with strips of cloth wrapped around their heels and pained expressions on their faces. When a group of them would stop to rest under a cluster of Faisel’s date palms or in the shade of a hedge row in his fields, they would fall from fatigue immediately. Lying on their backs with an arm under their heads they breathed deep and steadily, often coughing from sickness or the dust. Not talking. Some prayed piously. Up and down the path of retreat the call to prayer would travel. They would rest only long enough to accommodate the traveler’s prayer. Kneeling towards Mecca, their cracked lips moved steadily with the passion of uncertain defeat in their voices. “These soldiers.” Faisel said to his sons without looking at them “Aren’t all cowards.” It had been more than twenty years since Faisel had been wounded in the war with Iran. The use of his left hand and eye, and almost all his hearing had been taken from him when an Iraqi shell fell short and landed in his trench. Even though his own countrymen had caused his injuries he wore his wounds like medals and everyone in the markets regarded them as a credit to Faisel’s honor. “Some will fight in the cities.” Faisel said. Faisel hated foreigners and so his sons hated foreigners. Being farmers and poor, the thought that they could someday die for their honor gave them an unspoken satisfaction. His sons sat next to him in silence. The explosions in the distance and their fathers somberness, made their hearts race with excitement they didn’t understand. They already had the honor of enduring a hardship they had yet to experience. Faisel thought of the desert trenches he had dug many years before. He remembered the Iranian shelling more often than he wanted to now. His mouth would dry and his hand would shake if his memories surprised him in his sleep, or if the dust in the air smelled a certain way. He thought of the Americans weapons. Faisel pitied the soldiers who had stayed to fight in the deserts. “It is better your mother shall not have to endure what is coming.” Faisel said quietly. “She would have been terrified by this.” He motioned towards the soldiers, scattered in the distance. Hardly visible now in the fading light. “And for you.” He said “When will the Americans come?” Saadi asked. He sat hugging his skinny knees to his chest. He seemed much younger that he was when he sat like this. Faisel thought how his son was much better than he had been. Saadi never missed prayers and slept less than other boys his age. He was always working. In the mornings Faisel would sometimes wake before dawn to find Saadi had already gone out to feed the animals, having left tea for him on the stove. “Soon.” Faisel said. “Maybe tomorrow. Have you two remembered everything we have talked about? About what to do if the Americans come here? You must listen to what I say. Something could happen, we might be split up.” “How could we be split up?” Hafsa asked as though it were impossible. Hafsa was older than Saadi and had grown taller than his father over the past year. “It is impossible to know now.” Faisel said. “Iraq hasn’t known foreigners for a long time. Not since I was very young and it was the British then. Now it is very different. What will you do when the Americans come?” Faisel asked them, watching his sons carefully now. “Smile, wave at them, always moreVoting Question: Can you critique the beginning of my writing?
A puff of black wings rose from the trees of Muhr, as a thunderous roar echoed from the land below. “Who goes there?” Malkar demanded, grimacing in pain and rubbing his side with hope to cure the wound that had woken him from his slumber. “It is I brother, sorry to have awaken you but something terrible has happened,” said the voice of Tula, his scrawny body trembling and his hand enclosed around a sharpened stick. Blinking a few times, Malkar relieved himself from his state of drowsiness and spoke to the small man in front of him. “Terrible you say, but how could that be. The night is at peace and my brothers are fast asleep.” Silence filled the wood, the glow of the moon illuminating the sorrow of Tula’s face. “Yes, that I know brother, but that is indeed the problem.” Interlocking his fingers, he stared at the muddied ground. “Returning from the woods, I noticed a strange figure looming in the darkness. I assumed it was a male for its broad figure, but all I could really tell was it had a mark of lines and swirls engraved upon his bare chest, which I believe belongs to. . .” “Eor,” Malkar whispered. “The bringer of death.” “Yes.” Tula agreed bowing his head and placing his hand on Malkars shoulder.”Our brothers are no more.” Without a second’s hesitation, Malkar ran to his brothers, each of the five bodies lying around a dying fire. You were a good leader, and look on Brightside you now have five less to lead.” He chuckled, washing away all his sorrow. “What a dastardly thing to say Tula! Why have you suddenly turned so cruel?” He sniffed and wiped the tears off his cheeks. moreResolved Question: Complete each sentence?

Deleted Answer: http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao3AWv17iFRFDaBv6orgvsaEZn1G;_ylv=3?qid=20100304161411AARtpkx Edit: My recent avatar is to make depressed and frustrated users who always keep ranting smile once in a while looking at my avatar. Also it is 81st birthday of Mickey Mouse that I am celebrating this year. And may be you would like this url, two more individuals believe Dr. Singh. :) http://tinyurl.com/toiurl Edit, I do not post anything without reading. And if 81 years old Mickey mouse is kid for you then God Bless you. Violation Reason: Misuse of the question and answer formatUnless a reference to a valid source is presented, I don't entertain any allegation, though I have answer to your ranting. I am not ready to answer because source is unreliable. Once you produce a link to a national or international known magazine, you will get answer.Funny enough, Shy, now you are cracking jokes. Police arrests few followers for Asaram for rioting and you call action against Asaram? Talk about the establishment on illegal encroachment on the land of Gujarat by Asaram. Talk about the suspicious death of kids in Asaram Asharam in Ahamadabad Gujarat and Chhindwada Madhya Pradesh, and Asaram still a free man. And talk about this article in the same Indian Express: http://www.indianexpress.com/news/cult-&-controversy-the-story-of-asaram-ashram/347163/0 And more over talk about the question that I raised. Where Modi says, "I know this person from years, and he is good person". And now every one know what that person is. So what kind is the definition of "Good" for Modi? Once again, I am ready to comment on the picture of S M Krishna only if it is shown in a national or international news paper. I have not yet rejected or accepted that photograph.Sudan, I avoid using your name in my reply now days but this time I am using. I have never said that you deleted my answer, and would never say that. I can never know who reported my answer, thus I cannot blame any user. I would not even blame saffron brigade. Read your answer again, how many times in your answer did you blame Sonia Gandhi's name for corruption by Natavar Singh? Same way I will use Modi's name for the acts of Nityananda. For you, Nityananda may be a saint, guru etc, but not for me. You may call 1000 users as my clone, I don't care. If that makes you happy, I am happy for you. Shy, no need of me raising it to me media, Gujarat Congress has already raised it in Gujarat Assembly and demanded inquiry. If state government and state chief minister is clean, why not order inquiry?Do I have to prove to anyone who deleted my answer? No Am I making statements to justify who deleted or did not delete my answer NO. I don't know why are you so restless about my answer being deleted? Though you are continuously making allegations against me, I would not do the same, because there is difference between you and me. You can mention, N D Tiwari, Natawar Singh, Jagdish Titler, Buta Singh whomever you like, but that does matter. You can give whatever examples you want, the fact remains intact. Chief Minister of Gujarat Modi, said in the front of public that Nityanand is like Adu Guru Shankaracharya and Modi knows him for years. And now everyone knows the reality of person whom Modi knows for years. You can go to any extend to defend Saffron god Modi. But that would not change the fact in-spite of all Modi-Chalisa from saffron camp. And I am happy to know that at least you learned one good thing from my answers, that " its only an ID that you are talking to." moreTop A Good Leader Who Links
