Other How To Install Windows Fax Results
Resolved Question: How to fax from a computer or other internet connected device? How do most do it in 2012?
I know that fax is an older technology that many organizations have replaces. However some still use it and require it. When placing certain orders or filing certain documents, some older less tech savvy organizations, including business firms , county courthouses and schools ( I often have to fax grades at the end of the summer) still use faxsimile.
Many computer motherboards are omitting the PCI slot. My traditional way to fax is to install the Windows XP fax device. I think it is still available in Windows Vista and 7. However, fax is the one use we still have for the old 56K dial up modems with 14.4K fax that was state of the art in 1998 and '99 . With the new motherboards, one cannot put in a PCI 56K modem. Those who use tablets and smartphones cannot access a fax device either. How do most people who must fax from their word processors fax today? Is there a solution. If yes, is it free.

Under the system properties of my computer in windows xp the cpu speed goes up and down when i check it randomly. Recently I upgraded this laptop's ram from 1.25gb to a full 2gb so I don't know if thats the problem. The systems specs are as follows:

Here is a screen shot of all the system properties. (note: where 1.99ghz says it randomly will say 752mhz, 1.52mhz, 1.92ghz):
http://i40.tinypic.com/20usw7k.jpg
When the cpu speed goes down under system properties the laptop doesn't get slow at all and it acts the way it should. I just want to know if maybe this is a problem since i maxed out the ram. I don't know if it did this before. After I installed the ram i went to check to see if windows reconized the ram it said 1.59ghz and 1.87gb which it did. When i checked again it said 1.99ghz the speed it should be at.
Thanks!omggg im such an idiot!! lol! im suppose to be getting a degree in computers and ive learned something tonight. PowerNow! is speed throttling and power saving technology of AMD's processors used in laptops. The CPU's clock speed and VCore are automatically decreased when the computer is under low load or idle, to save battery power, reduce heat and noise. The lifetime of the CPU is also extended because of reduced electromigration, which varies exponentially with temperature.

moreResolved Question: print server to network multiple printers?
How do I go about setting up a print server? I'm only willing to go up to around $30 on new equipment. I originally had my LUbuntu machine running all the time and sharing the printers manually hooked to it over Samba, but it was slow and buggy, and not all the printers work properly with Ubuntu/LUbuntu. Then I tried to print via Chrome's web print instead, which replaced some old bugs with new ones. In general, it's faster to just transfer the file or reopen the webpage on the netbook, and hook it up to a given printer directly. That old machine is a noisy electricity hog anyway. But this is crazy annoying and I'd like to set it up properly.
So, here's what I'm working with ...
I have three printers:
HP InkJet 660c (Color, Parallel only)
Brother 4800 MFC (MultiFunction: Print/Scan/Fax/Copy, Parallel or USB)
HP LaserJet 1200 (Parallel or USB)
These printers share a room with a Belkin 4-port wireless router acting as an access point.
All the way across the house, I have an Ubuntu Lucid desktop, which uses a wired connection to another Belkin 4-port wireless router acting as a normal router (the access point in the other room is wirelessly bridged to this).
I have an Windows 7 Starter Edition Netbook, with Ubuntu Maverick installed as a dual-boot, networked wirelessly.
The machine that currently has LUbuntu on it is a 900Mhz 512Mb RAM P4, I don't mind wiping it, and it shares a room with the printers.
I have a PS3 connected wirelessly, in the room with the desktop, if that helps.
Friends that come over usually have Macs connecting wirelessly, if it matters.
moreVoting Question: How do I know what type of model, server, and printer I have?
I am trying to install my laptop that my school has given me. So, I went to Printers and Faxes and then I pressed Add a Printer and then I pressed Next. Then I chose the "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer". I pressed Next again. Now here is the hard part. I don't know what to type in for my Specific Printer information. Here is something that you would be helpful. My printer has a lapel on the front that says HP Officejet 6310 All - in - One. On the bottom left it has a label that says VIVERA HP LINKS on it. That is all I know. Please tell me what to do after that little window pops up. It gives an example : \\server\printer . Give me as much detail as possible! Thank you!

I Just got an Epson BX625FWD wireless printer scanner fax. Trying to install it on windows 7x64 laptop.
I downloaded the latest drivers from the Epson website but the on screen instructions are telling me to connect the printer to my computer using the supplied USB cable and the printer didn’t come with one. Why on earth does a wireless printer need to be connected by a usb cable.
I really need to use this printer now so if anyone has any ideas how to get round this I would be very grateful.
moreVoting Question: what graphics cards work for my computer?
heres an easy one for the tech people of the world.
iv'e recently started to use my computer for gaming again, and i have also jus got hold of a copy of thief 3 deadly shadows. (what can i say i liked the first 2)
problem i have is this version needs pixel shader 1.1, how ever my computer being as old as it is doesn't have a graphics card.
so i looking up several upgrades i could buy; ram cards, processors, motherboard, cooling systems and of course the graphics card.
i started looking up ram cards to begin thinking a faster computer would run things such as minecraft better. i found out that there are different formats of cards (ddr, ddr2 & ddr3) so i did some research and found my computer works on ddr after biding on a few ddr2 cards (thank god so one out bid me on eBay)
now i just started flicking through graphics cards and bidding on a few. i then noticed that one of them had in there description that it worked on a ddr system. this majorly scared the heck out of due to the fact that none of the cards i have bid on stated this before.

moreResolved Question: Does anyone know how to get an HP Officejet Pro 8500A to work wirelessly?
We have tried installing the software off the disk provided, but it doesn't work. Have tried downloading software off HP but still no joy. The printer can detect wireless network and windows can detect printer, but cannot get the software to see it. I should be able to print, scan, copy and fax but can't.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve it?
Many thanks :-)))

moreResolved Question: Can some one please revise my essay?
How does Windows 7 differ from Vista or Windows XP? Windows seven was release 8/31/2010.
Some technology improvements in windows 7 over vista or XP are, Windows 7 perform better than Vista/XP and use fewer resources. Also it has engineered to make fewer reads and writes to the HDD and is ideal to be installed on SDD (Solid State Drive). Some improvements over Vista/XP includes: Task bar changes: - include Jump List, Aero Peek. Supports touch screen and Touch Pad multi-touch. Include Aero Snap and Aero Shake to manage Desktop Windows. Include Libraries to manage folders. Include XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC environment. Include Action Center to troubleshoot Windows. Include Home group to manage local network Windows RE already include in the Hard Drive among others new features.
Windows 7 features include: Accessibility ,Action Center, Aero Audio, video Backup, Restore ,Bit Locker Calculator, Desktop Device, management DirectX 11, Email ,Gadgets, Games, Explorer ,Getting Started Home Group, Internet Explorer 8, Internet, TV Jump ,Lists Language packs ,Libraries Location-aware printing, Multiplayer games, Networking, Paint ,Parental Controls, Peek Performance improvements, Play To Power management , Ready Boost , Remote Desktop , Connection Remote, Media Streaming, Shake, Snap, Snipping, Tool ,Startup ,Repair, Sticky Notes, System Restore ,Tablet PC, User Account ,Control Windows ,Anytime Upgrade, Windows Connect Now, Windows Defender ,Windows Easy Transfer, Windows Experience, Index ,Windows Fax and Scan Windows ,Firewall, Windows Live, Essentials Windows Live ,Movie Maker ,Windows Live Photo Gallery ,Windows Media Center ,Windows Media Player 12, Windows Mobility Center , Windows Search ,Windows Taskbar , Windows Touch ,Windows Troubleshooting ,Windows Update ,Windows XP Mode and WordPad XPS
Windows 7 prices include: Home Premium: $199.99, Professional:$299.99, Ultimate: $319.99 You would want to use as a home use Windows 7 Home Premium is recommended for you because
There are a few different 0/S versions that are available for windows 7 platform. There’s: Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise (used in businesses mostly), and Ultimate. There is also 32bit and 64bit versions of each save home basic (I think). There are also some N versions. Also Microsoft is currently running a promotion on windows seven; Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack: Purchase a Family Pack and upgrade three PCs to Windows 7 Home Premium for $149.99, a savings of over $200.
Some thoughts I have on windows seven are Windows 7 is what Vista should have been; I'm disappointed we even have to pay for Win7, but it was necessary as Vista was terrible. I use Windows in a virtual machine, so I have to buy the retail disk, not get a OEM version. So you can see why I'm peeved a little. The fact that there are many different versions of Windows 7, why not include all on one disk? Surely the license code could be used to unlock further features. Need to upgrade to a better version of Windows for a project? No problem, just stick the one disk in and go for it, no need to buy another whole disk. Come on, save some gas and materials! (Yes I know about Windows upgrade anytime, by chance that is)I do like its ability to save a System Restore to DVD's or a hard drive, this is essential for everyone to do this once they get their machine tweaked the way they want before the first piece of malware hits. Microsoft should take a proactive position to push the PC vendors from installing all their bloat ware, trial ware etc., on new hardware. It really distracts from the conformity across all PC's and makes life generally hard for everyone. Not to mention slows down the computers performance drastically. Also the eye candy setting is set way to high, it should be set lower. Microsoft Security Essentials should be installed BY DEFAULT, a more clearer understanding given how and why it's important for users to do their Windows updates, instead of just clicking to ignore when the bubble pops up. Laptop users are especially vulnerable and getting a good connection is hard as well, they should be informed if their connection isn't strong enough or reliable enough for updates. How about a automatic update for Flash? Really how hard is that to do? Windows 7 is better, but it has to come a long way before Joe "I don't know nothing about computers" can use it without trouble. Mac's are better, but they are deceptive. They appear easier to use but they are not to newbies. The only good thing is they are safer online than Windows. I prefer windows sever over any other operating system. It's the most supported and just works while still allowing functionality. I've tried linux (briefly) and it could be very powerful if I knew more about it. Never tried a Mac since I don't have one but I'd assume it would work decently.
There were no competitors that released a new OS system at the sam new OS system at the same time as windows 7. Apple released 10.6 around a year earlier and is releasing 10.7 this summer. Various Linux distributions came out at the same time as Windows 7, but they upgrade constantly.Microsoft has released their new Operating System (O/S) called Windows 7. Complete a 1-2 page research paper about Window 7 O/S discussing some of its new features, pricing, which version would a home user need to purchase and maybe why. Here are some questions to consider when writing your research paper:How does Windows 7 differ from Vista or Windows XP? What are some of the technology improvements in Windows 7 over Vista or XP? How many different O/S version will be available from the Windows 7 platform? (In the past we've had multiple operating system choices available to the end user)When will Windows 7 release or become available for purchase? Is Microsoft currently marketing Windows 7 or running promotions? Share your own thoughts about whether you like Windows 7.Is there a competitor releasing a new OS at the same time as Windows 7? Is there an O/S you prefer? How does Windows 7 compare to the Apple MAC operating system?

I recently installed my Canon MX300 All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scanner, but the scanner seems to not be installed. moreResolved Question: How do I change my computer to being workable ?
Sorry guys - I have re posted my question as I have totally confused everybody, I did not put enough information in my last question so I will try again,
I am going crazy with my computer at the moment, all the things that I used to be able to do has changed and I am so confused with all the new technology I don't know if I am coming or going.
I used to have all my pics up wit a .jpg after it and was able to get my photos through windows picture and fax viewer, (this is no longer on my pics). I got a new camera and my husband has installed something else and every time I click on a pic it takes me to Picassa or photofun studio or windows - when I select windows it makes me import all my pics, I cant just select the ones I want to upload. I don't want to use any of these products. I just want to be able to use windows picture and fax viewer again as it was simple and I understood how it worked.
Is anyone able to help me out here ? It is really annoying me. I am totally computer illiterate so please dumb it down for me. Thanx Trissh
I have done this:
right click any picture..
then select open with....
in that list go down and select " choose program "
now a window will open ...
in that little down (list of programs )
u will see Windows Picture and Fax Viewer
select that...
I don;t have this option to choose from, all I have is:
Microsoft office picture manager
Microsoft office word
nero coverdesigner
nero photosnap viewer
paint
picassa photo viewer
windows photo gallery
choose default program - and when I select this I get word pad etc, nothing at all comes up for windows picture and fax viewer.Thanx John,
I have changed my computer so this might be the reason for it. GRRRR.

I downloaded it from the link above on the Realtek site, and tried a different mirror at CNET
Both of them crash my computer during installation, no matter what. And it creates a continuous loop that forces me to repair and reinstall Windows.
What is wrong with this driver? is it the wrong one? How can I fix this? I need to have my sound back.
This was after a fresh install btw, not caused by anything.I'd also like to add that Intel's download center for the Intel 845 Chipset family contains absolutely no downloads for audio drivers. Only video.

moreResolved Question: How do i get my Kodak printer to establish a WI-FI connection with my Mac?
I have a Kodak ESP-7 printer with Wi-Fi connectivity and have installed the printer software on my Macbook Pro laptop using the installation CD provided. I have made numerous attempts to print various documents but have achieved nothing.
I have gone into the Printer menu through the screen options on it and input the settings for Wi-Fi capability, also inputting the settings required through the Mac's 'System Preferences' menu under 'Print and Fax', changing different options with each attempt at printing always telling me on the Mac screen to check my printer connections because it cannot be found!
I have looked under 'Network' and 'Sharing' folders in System Preferences also, to see what could be changed there but have rendered the same result.
Why can't my Mac and printer make a Wi-Fi connection? I've had success through use with a USB cable but moving to a recent change of address now sees my print functions differently and have achieved success for my partner on her (Windows) laptop, which takes advantage of the Wi-Fi facility.
Please help (so that my partner still knows that Macs are better than PC's!). Thanks!
