Welcome to Smoking Hypnotism Answers
Voting Question: Have you ever been hypnotised to break a habit or overcome a problem? Did it work?
I can't stand the smell or sight of red meat. I find even the thought of it sickening. I haven't eaten it in 20 years but I need to start eating it for my health. I just can't make myself do it though. I wonder whether hypnotism could help me? If anyone has been hypnotised to quit smoking or help them with something else, let me know about how it worked for you!Ricki, can you tell me more about what happened?
moreResolved Question: Which is the best brand of E-cigarettes?
I'm trying to help a friend quit smoking. He's tried everything from hypnotism, the patch, lozenges, gum, inhaler, acupuncture, etc. At this point, I so desperately want him to quit--he's hurting himself and others around him by doing this.
So, he asked me to help him find another option. I had heard from coworkers and friends who were heavy smokers, that e-cigarettes greatly helped curb their cravings and helped them gradually give up cigarettes altogether.
My question is -- which is the best e-cigarette? I know there are many varieties...however the most important thing is a.) good battery life b.) it truly stops a craving -- the cartridges are strong enough to curb nicotine cravings c.) isn't the most expensive.
And for those of you who have used these -- what is your experience? I think b/c at this point my friend NEEDS to quit (serious health issues), the e-cig combined with a quitting book (ex: Alan Carr's Book of Quitting Smoking) might help. He's been a smoker now for a number of years and smokes roughly 1-1.5 packs a day. Would this help him get over smoking?
Also, how many of you gained weight after switching to e-cigs to quit smoking?
Any help would be appreciated -- as i'm hoping this will aid my friend in quitting smoking soon!!
moreResolved Question: Does hypnotism really work for quitting smoking?
I really want to quit, I feel gross for smoking as it tastes nasty, smells nasty, and makes my lungs ache!! But for some stupid reason I still enjoy it!! I don't spend much on tobacco as I only smoke between 5-8 a day of roll ups, so a 12.5g pouch lasts ages. I just want to know whether hypnotism is worth the couple hundred quid it costs!! Any one actually tried this??
Thanks!
moreResolved Question: To what extent can a person be hypnotized?
I have seen stage performers hypnotize people (friends) and I have seen people who have been hypnotized to stop smoking, alcoholics to become sick after drinking even a drop of liquor/beer, and people who have hypnotic regression done to remember something that they have psychological block on, I have even experience road hypnosis while driving. But I consider that one extreme boredom mixed with exhaustion.
But really just how far can a person be hypnotized?
Is this something that is truly a "power" that some people have over others, or is it meanly people falling to the power of suggestion?
If it is a skill/technique that people have how do they learn to do it?
How far can a person be placed under hypnotic suggestion? Can you get someone to do something that is completely out of their nature; for instance, have an introverted person stand infront of a crowed room and moon everyone while whistling ode to joy. Or having a person who is afraid of birds to let a giant golden eagle to sit on the shoulder?
Does anyone have experience with hypnotism, either clinically (meaning a psychiatrist or other mental health professional hypnotized you) or through some other means. What was your experience did you feel like you wear really hypnotized, did you remember it, what was your experience?
Thank you for your answers, I am seriously curious about this so please give serious answers. Again thank you.

moreResolved Question: Can you psychologically cause your own death?
Ex. 1: I know a girl who used to faint every day at school because she was so scared that she would, she honestly believed she would, and so she did. She was assessed, medically, and they found nothing physically wrong, so they prescribed her some placebo-type pills that had no pharmaceutical effect. She believed the pills would work, so they did.
Ex. 2: Hypnotism - If you want to become hypnotized and honestly believe you will, you will.
So.. if someone is (for example) smoking weed for the first time and truly believes they will have a heart attack and die, is there a heightened risk that WILL happen?BTW I'm not asking for future reference or nothing, just curious. This question is fucking stupid. I asked it when I was drunk.

After looking at all the answers that have been given, i still have a question in my head. Could it be that teddy, the main actor of the movie actually is a normal person but after the doctors "hypnotism" the "Marshall" could actually believe that he is actually the murderer and staying at the island, illusion doesn't seem to be farmed because since all the people on the island is just "acting" with him, there shouldn't be any illusions like the ex-doctor he met in the cave, and why when he reached the bottom of the cliff there are so many rats coming out of a hole? they looked like they were rushing out of the cave as they squeezed. and after the doctor's meeting, teddy was actually asking about his partner but after the cigar the doctor smoked, he seemed to be in an amnesia forgetting that he had a partner and if really the doctors were looking after him, why would he be left alone at ward C and looking for his answers, could it be that really he has been hypnotized after the chaos he made? to believe that he was actually the murderer carrying the rap of others?

moreResolved Question: Please Help... Can hypnotism help you recall a blackout incident?
Hey All!
Bit of a long one here, bear with me...
On New Years Eve after a hearty night of celebrating I was on my way to the store to pick up a pack of cigarettes. On my way to the store I came across a domestic incident where a drunken idiot was manhandling his woman. I decided to step in. After that point I remember absolutely nothing about the altercation itself. The next thing I remember was wrestling him to the ground and standing over him... I was bleeding from my nose, so clearly I got popped during the incident.
The thing is I don't remember any part of the fight... Just the lead up and the very end. I was drunk, but I remember the rest of the evening very clearly... just not the details of the fight itself. I am NOT a blackout drunk at all... After subduing the guy I continued on my way to get my smokes, which is where the police found me and brought me back to the scene... The guy was still laying in the street being helped by a paramedic and another officer.
Upon hearing witness accounts of how the fight started, in regards to the domestic abuse...the lady cop that responded to the incident did me a favour and told me to run away. She didn't want to see me get charged for helping out a young lady in that situation...
But what scares me is that I think I might have hurt the guy kind of bad... but I don't know for sure because I can't remember what occurred before I got him to the ground. This concerns me because I am not a violent person... I've been in one or two fights in my life, but I do not generally get into fights at all...
I would however like to know what I did to this guy so I know what I am capable of if I ever enter such a state again... My lack of any memory of it, and the state he was in after the fight really scares me. I don't know if it was blind rage or what... or if I could enter such a state again... more importantly, what am I capable of doing to someone in such a state...
I am a peace loving person and would never want to hurt anyone like that, intentionally or otherwise... I really want to, and think I need to, remember the events of that fight.
Is there any way that I can regain my memory of the event... perhaps through hynothearapy?
Thanks!
G.
moreResolved Question: opinon about hypnotism?...............?
A friend of mine got hypnotized for quitting smoking. She said it actually worked - to my surprise she has infact quit smoking!! I am VERY skeptical about hypnotism. Do you think it works or is it the power of suggestion or someting? Apparently what a hypnotist does is put you in a dream like state kind of like that lucid state you have just before you wake up in the morning - an in that state you are very relaxed but also hyper concentrated - thats why ppl claim to rememver lots of stuff about the past when hypnotized. What do you think?
moreResolved Question: What do you think of the first chapter of my book?
I wrote this as the first chapter to a book I would like to write. Please, don't feel the need to be nice. I can take criticism.
1—Hypnotism?
How do we know this whole thing isn’t one big hypnotism? Here, I think I’m sitting on my friend’s roof hiding from her dad, since he doesn’t know I’m living here. What if I’m really on stage entertaining an audience? Wouldn’t that be nice? I wouldn’t be living here—in secret—because my mom kicked me out due to my being an 18-year-old alcoholic, drug addict who can’t manage to keep her ass out of jail. “For my next trick, she’ll turn her life around.” Oh, I wish it could just be that easy. Sorry, that was probably just the three bowls of chronic thinking.
What about later when I buy another eight ball? For those of you reading this who aren’t “drug educated,” that’s meth. It can also be other “powders,” but in my case and for the sake of this story, it’s crank, glass, ice, speed. Who am I kidding? It’s meth. It doesn’t make it better to give it a cooler name. That’s not hypnotism, I do it.
What about when I have Larry drop by the liquor store to buy me another bottle tomorrow morning? Isn’t it so pathetic? I have him buy it in the morning so I can be drunk by noon and not care that I’m technically homeless. For now, that’ll be my excuse for drinking. Later it’ll be because someone pissed me off. Then, who knows what reason I’ll have. I always seem to find one. That’s not hypnotism, I live it.
There I go again. I tell myself that I wish it would be easy to quit… while I’m doing exactly what I don’t want to be doing—smoking pot on the roof waiting for my next chance to score better drugs and more alcohol. I’m not belittling the fact that it’s extremely hard to quit. I just think it would be a lot easier if I did more than say that I want to. That’s not hypnotism, I hate it.
How does it all start? I keep trying to ask myself how I got into it. I know that it started with smoking. It really is a “gateway.” Though, that usually means marijuana. My “gateway” was cigarettes. I loved the nicotine high, so I started chasing something better. I got it. I smoked Afghan-Chronic my very first time.
Mind you, marijuana is not addictive. It’s just very habit-forming. You don’t know what to do when you’re not getting high. Nothing is ever the same afterwards; no color is quite as vibrant, no noise is quite as amazing, no text message takes quite as long to send— time goes by a lot faster when you’re sober— no pizza ever tastes quite as delicious. You get the point. It’s not that it’s addictive; it’s that it is so amazing.
I don’t know what happened. I heard that THC was a mild form of Acid and I decided I needed to try that. I was too scared to hallucinate, so I chickened out. The guy said, “That’s okay. Try this instead.” He used his credit card to make two lines. He did the first one as a demonstration and I followed suit. I came to find out later—when I was begging for more—it was meth. I was 16 and it was exactly what my mom didn’t want me to be doing. Naturally, I loved it.
When you go to a lot of parties, you start to drink. Aside from the time that I have been in juvie-hall and jail, I haven’t gone a day without a drink since my 16th birthday. I’m not proud of it, but that’s pretty much who I am. The second time I went to jail (and my fourth alcohol ticket) my mom told me not to bother coming home.
That’s how I got on this roof, smoking this chronic, hiding from Mariah’s dad, thinking about whether or not I’m hypnotized. I’ve been sleeping on their couch, but I have to be out by 6 AM—when he gets up for work—and can’t be in later than 10—when he locks the door. When he is home, if I have nowhere to be, I sit on the roof. It’s already 11, so I have to sit here until I’m tired and then quietly go back through her brother, TJ’s, window and down to the couch. Their dad, Bryin, is pretty much the only person who doesn’t know what’s happening.
That’s mostly true. They think I’ve stopped drinking, smoking, and doing drugs all together. That’s kind of a laugh to me. As badly as I want to stop, I don’t think I ever will. I’ve cut back a lot. I haven’t snorted the wonderful powder for almost two days. I know that sounds pathetic, but try going through withdrawals and being homeless. It doesn’t work, so I don’t try to make it.
I’ve considered just asking if we can have a “sleepover” so that I can go through the withdrawals on their couch and get it over with. I really would like to stop with the crank. I want to have a respectable job and a family one day. That’s not exactly a drug-friendly dream.
Back to my question… How do we know this isn’t just one big hypnotism? For that matter, it could just be a long dream, or a hallucination. What if I’m mentally insane and just sitting at a coffee shop mumbling incoherently to myself, all the while thinking I’m leading a life? Not a good one, but a life nonetheless. I would have a crowd of people gathered around trying to

Alright so I have decided I want to try hypnotherapy. But if you want to then you will because you are open to the experience.
Also the other reason I am nervous is because I don’t want to, well, get a quack, for lack of better term. And I really have no idea what to expect. I’ve read up on hypnotism and you wont end up barking like a dog just be in this relaxed state, almost like sleep but not, I think.

A few people have suggested hypnotism might work....some have said to "Go cold turkey", but it would take too long to become addicted to heroin, and cut into my smoking time.

Ok, a Florida court ruled that this guy dying of lung cancer was the fault of tobacco companies because they hid the addictive and harmful qualities of cigarettes. So I have a few questions.
#1--When he finally did find out how harmful they were would he not have just quit, like when he was undergoing chemo for lung cancer? Since if he had known how bad they were for you he never would have started, right?
#2--If cigarettes are as addictive as cocaine or heroine, then how was *I* able to quit smoking COLD TURKEY with no help from any one or anything after 14 years of smoking? moreResolved Question: Hypnotists!! How can I protect my family from this Monster???
This is about my Mom's sister. She apparently knows how to hypnotize people. And not only does she just know how to do it she is an expert at it. She herself told us several times that she knew how to hypnotise people, but I never believed it. Surprisingly, I've finally come to a stage, where not only do I believe it, I am sooo scared of her. She comes to our house, and is constantly at it. She never opens her mouth at all, but when she does in fact open it, every sentence that comes out of her stupid mouth, she is using to hypnotise us...
She comes to our house... goes along saying to me, Hey how are you doing with your diarrhoea, says it like 2- 3 times, and I am like I don't have diarrhoea. She is like come on Honey ( the nerve calling me honey as though she cares about me )... again says it, still keeps saying it again and again and again... I say who the hell told you, then she says that my sister told her and tells me to go ask her. I ask my sister she says that she never said any such thing... then my aunt goes saying to my sister, hey didn't you say it, I thought you told me that, you said it, you did...etc... again and again and again...
my other sister comes along, says to my Aunt Hey why do you keep saying that ...first of all she doesn't have diarrhoea, second of all didn't my other sister say that she never said that. She says to my Aunt its you that keeps saying that, when she doesn't have diarrhoea in the first place, then my Aunt backs off, walks away,
then keeps glancing at us from a distance, as if though she were checking on us to see if we were fighting yet about who said what, and who didn't say what, and whether I really had diarrhoea or not... like are they chewing what I said, then we get scared because she is still looking at us from far behind , and we leave... Then a couple of hours later what do you know!!!!???!!, I have diarrhoea!!!!
She is a monster!!!!!!!!! She keeps doing this time after time after time, to me, my Mom, and my sisters...
We keep trying to avoid her... but to make matters worse she calls us on the phone, hypnotises us and makes us do weird things... I even remember a time where she made my Mom and my other aunt act like monkeys...
she calls up my Dad on his cell in the middle of the night, has him shout like a Monster, she says things like louder, meaner, and has him shout at my Mom, and leave the house in the middle of the night at like 2 A.M....
You know... if she knows how to hypnotize people, well good for her... If she is sooo good at it, well Pin a rose on her nose... But thats no reason to make peoples' lives miserable... And its not like she doesn't know any better... I mean come on... She is 48 years old... For crying out loud!!!!!!
If its a joke then maybe we could fake a laugh or two and get her off our backs... But the kind of things that she makes us do are sooo insane and ridiculous and to an extent that is mean... And another thing, when she does it to me, I have my sisters and Mom around me...they make sure I don't get hurt or hurt anybody else, but when she does it to my Dad, she does it when he is alone... and he has end up hurt... There was a time when he fell off the stairs in our garage and fell on his back... I felt sooooooooooooooooooooo sorry for my Dad. Its just so plain mean!!!!!!
I've recently researched this stuff on the net, and found that there are various types of hypnosis, one is stage hypnosis and its the kind that
just makes people perform when they are on stage, and once its done they forget about it... In other words its temporary... And there is another kind that is permanent... You know like lets say a person goes to a hypnotist to get themselves stop a smoking addiction... they come out of the office and they stop forever... Its kind of a permanant hypnosis... My aunt has used both kinds of hypnotism on my Mom... She even hypnotised my Mom to kill herself whenever someone complains about my her... Usually when someone is complaining about my Aunt, one of us is around my Mom, either our Dad or us..., and when we tell my Mom to cut it out she stops... But we can't be there for her all the time... Its like the moment you go to my Mom saying, Mom, why did Aunt do this... she is so mean, she is bad... and my Mom goes saying things like I can't take this anymore... Am I alive to hear all this stuff about my sister... I cannot live like this... I need to die, and goes strangling herself... And its crazzzzzzzzzzzzzy... It almost looks childish and like my Mom is doing this stuff on purpose... unless someone tells you that its hypnosis you will never know... And even if you do know that its hypnosis its so weird that you wouldn't know how to stop it.
Sometimes we end up shouting at my Mom saying stuff like what is this nonsense... cut it out... or something like that... And other times your heart goes out to her, I mean you can see how immensely hurt she is... And you keep trying to figure out, maan, why are you sooooo hurt when I talk about your sister... And it makes you feel sooooooooooooooo aweful to have hurt her soooooo bad.... And I have had times where my Dad has raced out of the bedroom, trying to make me stop badmouthing my Aunt, because I apparently forget about this... and because he is soo scared that my Mom will actually go through killing herself... Its sooooooooo scary!!!!
First of all what can I do to protect my Mom? I have learnt that my Mom has infact been hypnotised to behave this way every time someone even hints about the fact that my Aunt knows hypnosis. I have learnt to control myself so that I don't talk about my aunt in front of my Mom, but people around us are also starting to figure out that my Aunt is hypnotising people... They are coming to Mom to complain about my Aunt and everytime they do, my Mom is trying to kill herself. How can I unhypnotize my Mom?? After all I can't tell every single person out there, not to talk about my Aunt in front of my Mom or otherwise she will kill herself. What should I do????????????

moreResolved Question: Softly softly approach to smoking.?
My partner smokes and I really detest it. I have been trying for years to get him to give up by doing the "softly softly" approach. ie. talking, encouraging and supporting him, finding out why he smokes and resolving that etc. however, he just keeps on smoking. He has tried patches, gum, speaking to the Quitline and friends encouragement. Nothing has worked. Friends have tried hypnotism and said it doesn't work either. When I try to talk stronger to him about it he wallows in self pity. The thing is all our friends, including myself have been able to give up in the last few years. My Father recently died of throat cancer so it is really a sensitive issue with me, and although we are due to get engaged soon, I can't commit to a man that smokes. I have come down hard on him now and said that if he doesn't give up there is no future for us. I feel horrible but I am at my wits end. Did I do the right thing?
