I took an introductory class in a good university, psychology is suppose to be study of the mind, yet the courses didn't even teach me what mind is. Resolved Question: How can I improve or accept myself?

I hate myself because I cannot function at a level where I can meet my most basic responsibilities as a husband, father and citizen. I consistently underperform at work, resulting in endless job instability and completely inadequate wages for my modest lifestyle. I've mismanaged my money badly enough that I'm now over $40,000 in debt. I've tried, diet, exercise, meditation, counseling, self-help books, religion, even acupuncture and hypnosis...literally everything I can think of to either boost my performance to a minimal acceptable level or to at least make some peace with the fact that I'm an incompetent rube. Nothing has helped enough to overcome either issue. My wife hasn't slept with me in over two years because I loathe myself so much. I don't blame her, but our "marriage" has devolved into being roommates who happen to have the same kids. The only reason I don't blow my head off is that I don't want to hurt my children by committing suicide and I know how unbelievably cruel and selfish that would be. I need a new approach. And to anyone who wants to answer that I should just "man up" -- go screw yourself. I've been "manning up" for the past decade trying to regain control of my life. It hasn't worked. What haven't I thought of? How can I either make myself a vastly more competent person or learn to accept myself as the completely useless flake that I am?Naguru - I've been "redoubling" my effort for the past 10 years. I have seen stage performers hypnotize people (friends) and I have seen people who have been hypnotized to stop smoking, alcoholics to become sick after drinking even a drop of liquor/beer, and people who have hypnotic regression done to remember something that they have psychological block on, I have even experience road hypnosis while driving. But I consider that one extreme boredom mixed with exhaustion. But really just how far can a person be hypnotized? If it is a skill/technique that people have how do they learn to do it? How far can a person be placed under hypnotic suggestion? Can you get someone to do something that is completely out of their nature; for instance, have an introverted person stand infront of a crowed room and moon everyone while whistling ode to joy. About a year ago my girlfriend moved out to China. Things remained great between us, we talked almost every night for hours straight through almost that whole year until about the events of about two weeks ago. One night about two weeks while we did our usual talk here on the internet she started bringing stuff up about this "Christian" group she got into while in China. On the subject about the group she talked the leader of the group. She talked about how much she admires him and looks up to him. She talked about how he could speak to God in an unknown language, has the power to heal and can tell her things God is saying to her(O_o). Then she went on to say he was telling her to stay away from me because God was saying I'm interfering with her life and her growth in Jesus Christ. This ticked me off the guy didn't know me at all and he was telling her to stay away from me even though he didnt know anything about me and her. I explained to her i didn't agree with that or the sounds of that group. Infact it creeps me out. My girlfriend then got highly offended, got angry and stormed off and said she didnt want to talk. The Next night she comes back on and everything seemed oddly normal she talked about her day and was calm, then at the end of the conversation she suddenly told not to message her for awhile and i was like ok? Well a few days go by and I go on to facebook to talk to her, to find she blocked me. So I went on skype blocked there and Msn also blocked there. This highly confused me because she seemed calm the last i talked to her. Then all the sudden I’m blocked on everything. So I approached her brother about what was going on. He explained to me that her group leader came over that night I talked to her, completely bashed on me and my biblical views and told her I was a weed in her life and she needed to stop talking to me. He then ordered her to block me on everything and she did. Her brother also told me she yelled at him for talking to me and said he shouldn’t be talking to anyone that has opposing views from what their leader was teaching them. Since that final night I talked to her I haven't heard from her since. But I have continued to keep in contact with her brother to keep figuring out what’s going on(hes out of the question for help though because he’s fairly lazy and gets easily annoyed when I ask for it….the only thing he‘ll do is tell me what’s going on). The last thing her brother told me was the leader of this group gave her an “Accountability” partner(who ironically also highly hates me…even though she also doesn’t know me) to help keep her away from me…..making things just that much harder for me to contact her or ever hear from her again. I've tried different attempts on skype to talk to her by creating new accounts and sending her messages urging her to talk out this situation with me(which is difficult on there because you can only use a low amount characters at a time when sending a message to someone your not friends with, not exactly enough room to write a full good message) but to no prevail, she wouldn’t respond to any of them…. So I gave up on that idea for not only not working but also because I didn’t want to keep harassing her with small messages. The only conclusions I’ve drawn from this whole situation is this guy is taking complete control of her life and she’s developed some emotional attachment to him because she feels hes there for her and right on everything he says( and she doesn't have a thing for him crush wise, shes 18 and hes like 30 something so i know that isnt it). I really don't know what to do in this situation. In the past weeks I've fallen into a depression and have worried nonstop about this whole situation(escipally after learning hes convincing her to stay in China for more years). Me and this girl dated, and were close friends for over two years and suddenly shes gone under the hypnosis of a cult style leader, hating and ignoring me. How do i try and reason with this girl and get her to talk?(only way I can is through those real short messages and keep in mind she gets offended easily on a lot of this…)or is there another way to this situation? Def -trick room -explosion -phychic/ice beam -hypnosis Basically I switch into a specail attacker and with all those sp boosts in sassyness and evs so it can take a few of those hits to set up trick room sleep something attack then or explode. Sitrus berry it for a bit more of hp to do whatever. I am not sure what I should go with ice beam or phychic. Phychic has stab but then again ice beam has more coverage. I just defeated Cinnabar Gym and need some help in which team i should choose for the Elite Four and to face my friend. I have quite a few pokemon i would like to consider using and i would like you guys to help me pick which pokemon and which moves i should teach to my pokemon. And my friend chose squirtle and he also has a hypno and flarion (not sure which levels or moves they know). Alright so I have: Charizard (45): Fly Flamethrower Slash Blastburn Jolteon (44): Pin Missle Shockwave Dig Thunder Wave Dragonair (40): Slam Dragon Rage Twister Thunder Wave Hypno (41): Metronome Hypnosis Dream Eater Confusion ( I accidently stopped him from learning phycic but i do have the TM and i could go get mushrooms and go to the move teacher) Snorlax (40): Rest Snore Surf ------ (Empty Spot, I used him as a HM slave but considered using him for my team) Aerodactyl (5): I just got him but I could level him up if i have to Kabuto (5): Same thing, I just got it and will level up if its worth it I also just caught Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos (50,50,50) I know i dont have a water pokemon and I dont really think i need one since i could teach surf to couple other pokemon but i have considered using Gyrados, Poliwrath and Cloyster. So let me know who my team should consist of to make the best team for me to battle the elite four but to battle my friend more. Also, I obviously know I have to level up my guys allot.yeahh i plan to evolve dragonair for sure and mabye kabuto if its recommended to use him more

Resolved Question: How do you do proper hypnosis?

I just want to learn how to be a hypnotist to entertain my friends, it will be their choice to be hypnotized and every thing, I can kind of get people into trances as in make it so they cant lift there arms or legs, or they just feel really sleepy, but how do I make them go into a proper trance where they follow my orders, and not realize? And yet again I'm only doing this for fun I have no intention of hurting or upsetting people. Its one of those things that have always interested me more
