Voting Question: Please help me ;_-( Depressed/Self Sabotage. Psychologist/Hypnosis expert?
I must say I suffered from depression about a year ago before I start anything. This led me on the path of self help/hypnosis to try and regain some purpose in my life. Anyway, Im so gutted and disapointed in myself its untrue ;_-(. Almost in tears. I've just gone and gambled about £200 ($300), which at the moment is a fair amount of money. I think this is all down to self sabotage. I mean things had just started going right. I am a freelance writer, and have been promised numerous pieces of work, which will see me earn a very good salary over the next 2 months. This is something I wanted, since I have not had regularly work for over 3-4months. Note I am not currently addicted to gambling. I occasionally gamble. But I always seem to do things to make my life bad, ONLY when things start becoming good. For example, after depression I lost weight and styled a new look; I started regularly receiving compliments on how good I looked - I quickly put weight back on. Furthemore After a few months of expanding and getting a decent social circle (something I have always desired), I became something of a recluse and stop socialising with these people. Even though I desire a meaningful relationship, everytime I meet a girl that is worth giving a go, I just distance myself. I can't help but feel all this is subconsciously driven. Am I this bad of a person ;_-( I shudn't be feeling so sorry myself either...there are people out there who are starving......but this is getting too much, Im 25 and don't really wanna live life like this, despite god giving me so much. I do have lovely family (most of the time), but I feel so isolated. I have tried self-help programmes, which are OK. Can somebody please please give me some insight based on what I have said. does this sound like self-sabotage? And a course of action/book/or anything else which has been proven to increase confidence/esteem? Any Opinions are genuinely valued god bless xx moreResolved Question: Does learning Hypnosis help cure depression?

I'm 19 years old, for as long as i can remember I've been unhappy and extremely anxious. Anxiety runs in my family apparently, my father used to have 'anxiety attacks' all the time before he passed away. I always assumed it would go away eventually but it hasn't. I can't sleep because when i go to bed I start having thoughts like "oh no!!! i have to go do (something i don't like) tomorrow" and even if there's nothing coming up the next day I'll lay there thinking of possible future situations like "oh no!!! i have to do an oral presentation in a few months". I am constantly thinking and worrying and I can never just enjoy the moment, as a result it's hard to make friends and so I'm quite lonely and depressed. I have tried hypnosis/ relaxation tapes, breathing exercises etc. but nothing helps. Should I get some sort of pills, if so what type (depression or anxiety or both)? And do i just go to the doctor and ask for a prescription? moreResolved Question: Hypnosis, can it help?
I am looking for a way to help with my depression, fear and lack of motivation. I have tried medications "Paxil, zoloft, Ativan, Clonazepam" , therapy, and was even hospitalized. I really do not want to feel like chit all the time and am very proactive when trying to find help. More than most anyways. I was considering Hypnosis. Does anyone know if Hypnosis can help people with severe depression, anxiety and self-esteem issues?I am looking for personal experience, not a link to a biased website:) moreResolved Question: What to do about suicidal thoughts from sleep deprivation?
Anxiety, paranoia, cognitive problems, symptoms of depression are all caused by going on two hours of sleep for years and years. Christians don't want to kill themselves but need answers on how to handle symptoms that come with only two hours of sleep, if that a night. Many nights I sleep half an hour and awake the same. Two hours is my normal sleep. Don't go there. I have been to every kind of doctor and do hypnosis and whatever else but sleep just won't come. The symptoms scare me. moreResolved Question: Do you believe Hypnosis truly works for the following problems... If so, why?
Do you believe it would work for the following, If so, why? 1. addictive behavior [cigarette smoking] as NOTHING else has worked. 2. modify someones personality. For example... my relationships tend not to last long because I CONSTANTLY push people away by doing stupid things because I don't want to get too close, so would Hypnosis work to help me STOP doing these ''stupid things''. -or the fact that I always let things go until the very last minute, self sabotage, my mantra is ''I can do it tomorrow''... then tomorrow comes and I push it off until it's too late. 3. Cognative Beahavioral Therapy has gotten alot of press lately on many fronts, mainly with disorders like OCD. I have struggled with depression, lack of motivation, and low self esteem, alone and with a procession of INSIGHT therapists since a suicide attempt when I was 20. Not much seems to get better, atleast not socially. Should I try a CBT? Has anyone reading this had severe positive life changes as a direct result of this kind of therapy? I keep trying to convince my Mom to see someone about her hoarding. But I can't escape the ironic sensation that I am really talking to myself. (not a hoarder, just addicted to a lonely artist's world view). How/Why is it better? Is hypnosis or NLP involved as part of the process? moreResolved Question: do you think hypnosis is a good why to treat depression?

About a year ago my girlfriend moved out to China. Things remained great between us, we talked almost every night for hours straight through almost that whole year until about the events of about two weeks ago. One night about two weeks while we did our usual talk here on the internet she started bringing stuff up about this "Christian" group she got into while in China. On the subject about the group she talked the leader of the group. She talked about how much she admires him and looks up to him. She talked about how he could speak to God in an unknown language, has the power to heal and can tell her things God is saying to her(O_o). Then she went on to say he was telling her to stay away from me because God was saying I'm interfering with her life and her growth in Jesus Christ. This ticked me off the guy didn't know me at all and he was telling her to stay away from me even though he didnt know anything about me and her. I explained to her i didn't agree with that or the sounds of that group. Infact it creeps me out. My girlfriend then got highly offended, got angry and stormed off and said she didnt want to talk. The Next night she comes back on and everything seemed oddly normal she talked about her day and was calm, then at the end of the conversation she suddenly told not to message her for awhile and i was like ok? Well a few days go by and I go on to facebook to talk to her, to find she blocked me. So I went on skype blocked there and Msn also blocked there. This highly confused me because she seemed calm the last i talked to her. Then all the sudden I’m blocked on everything. So I approached her brother about what was going on. He explained to me that her group leader came over that night I talked to her, completely bashed on me and my biblical views and told her I was a weed in her life and she needed to stop talking to me. He then ordered her to block me on everything and she did. Her brother also told me she yelled at him for talking to me and said he shouldn’t be talking to anyone that has opposing views from what their leader was teaching them. Since that final night I talked to her I haven't heard from her since. But I have continued to keep in contact with her brother to keep figuring out what’s going on(hes out of the question for help though because he’s fairly lazy and gets easily annoyed when I ask for it….the only thing he‘ll do is tell me what’s going on). The last thing her brother told me was the leader of this group gave her an “Accountability” partner(who ironically also highly hates me…even though she also doesn’t know me) to help keep her away from me…..making things just that much harder for me to contact her or ever hear from her again. I've tried different attempts on skype to talk to her by creating new accounts and sending her messages urging her to talk out this situation with me(which is difficult on there because you can only use a low amount characters at a time when sending a message to someone your not friends with, not exactly enough room to write a full good message) but to no prevail, she wouldn’t respond to any of them…. So I gave up on that idea for not only not working but also because I didn’t want to keep harassing her with small messages. The only conclusions I’ve drawn from this whole situation is this guy is taking complete control of her life and she’s developed some emotional attachment to him because she feels hes there for her and right on everything he says( and she doesn't have a thing for him crush wise, shes 18 and hes like 30 something so i know that isnt it). I really don't know what to do in this situation. In the past weeks I've fallen into a depression and have worried nonstop about this whole situation(escipally after learning hes convincing her to stay in China for more years). Me and this girl dated, and were close friends for over two years and suddenly shes gone under the hypnosis of a cult style leader, hating and ignoring me. How do i try and reason with this girl and get her to talk?(only way I can is through those real short messages and keep in mind she gets offended easily on a lot of this…)or is there another way to this situation? I want to do what I can to get her away from this creep that’s controlling her life and try to get her back to her normal self. How do I win her back from him?? moreResolved Question: does hypnosis treat depression?

is this basically a very selfish complaint if read literally? that someone is "Depressed" because they are angry they didnt get their way etc? how common this is and why this is often maybe misunderstood where a person has legitimate rights to be angry,,but are left feeling they "Better not do that" etc. and repress their anger for fear of being in trouble, etc? how common in child hood or adolescence and how this can cause rebelliousness, or further types of more serious psychological and even physical problems associated with these repressed feelings or memories? how is hypnosis seen as a way to have person relax enough to recall properly repressed memories attached to "Repressed or unresolved" anger? and how they become when remebering or "reliving" these memories? do many actually become very angry like they felt at that time,,however they repressed their feelings os how they are when "releasing" those pent up feelings? how often this is requiring restraint by others or is the technique of hypnosis allowing them to be easily controlled when feeling these repressed feelings again? please explain how long they should feel this way again and does this take numerous times sometimes to fully "release" all the pent up emotions? how and why so for this and how they are again, after regaiing properly their consciousness once again? how old is this technique as well and why so different than what we often see today with medicines and doctors prescriping sedatives to "Help" people who need to resolve their inner turmoil..not further supress them? is "Rechanneling " nervous energy or brain waves,,basically what the ideas are in "Cathariss" and how this is the final result sought in hypnosis or not? thanks for your answers! moreResolved Question: Is there any biblical content on hypnosis?

Anyone have any views on the subject? Anyone tried it? Did it have a good effect? I think it's an intersting concept, one that i think can have the potential to work to good effect. Usually you come across Hypnosis sound files i.e MP3 that offer help with Anxiety, Depression, Confidence etc etc, but i recently came across something called BMV Quantum Subliminal which has a huge collection of audio files offering things as wierd as subliminal sky diving skills, driving skills, heartburn relief, maths mastery, accounting, learn italian, just to name a few! The list is quite endless, they also have the usual cliche audios. They offer them in high frequency sounds and ocean soundscapes. I'm really quite interested but the fact they offer some crazy things makes it seems like they taking you for a complete and utter fool and in reality we have no idea of what we are listeng to? moreResolved Question: Your thoughts on Hypnosis.?
I had Hypnosis as a child and it worked. I know for certain people it doesn't work or they don't believe. I'm not interested in that. I'm interested in doing it again, as counselling doesn't work for me - just brings up the past I want to forget and causes me to be upset, not get over it. ----- What can a Professional (Medical) Hypnotist do? For example:- - Do they help you talk about it - "Letting it all out" - while you're not fully aware? - Can they help you forget? - Can they help you remember? - Can they help "Depression"? - Can they make you feel more "Confident", more "Aware"? Any information/personal experiences you have, I would love to hear and be grateful. Can they train you to make better decision making - seems crazy, but I just want to know what they can actually help with. Can they really improve your life? (Probably not because everyone would have one right?) moreResolved Question: how does one "Rechannel Anger"??? what this means and involves? and which other feelings are "Repressed" too?
not talking about the theories that say you do something constructive as much as the idea or theory where a person is said to think of a upsetting time in their life and the anger, frustration, hurt or helplessness they felt from that time and to CONCENTRATE on that time period and to actually FEEL this anger again, however FOCUS on something and channel this negative feeling into the brain. how old is this idea or theory and how is this similar or not to the idea of hypnosis? is this FOCUSING on something..rechanneling the negative nervous energy ithat was repressed into the brain very helpful? is this called "Age progression" where the person is actually MATURING? instead of the opposite , which is "Age Regression"?? how intense this anger or other repressed feelings can be and to REFEEL this is good feeling after? how helps with depression too? please explain how this is similar or not to Emotional Freedom Technique too or hypnosis or hypnotherapy? how they are differently "Helping" the person? thanks for your answers! moreResolved Question: Can anxiety such as social anxiety be incurable?
I have suffered from social anxiety and depression for 3/4 years and got help about a year ago. I started to write a lot on yahoo a few months ago because the conseller i went to couldn't help, she was very understanding but the techniques didn't work. A lot of people have tried to give me advice on yahoo, and although I am very grateful they didn't work. No medication worked for me, prosac failed to do anything and just made it worse. I do keep up with cognitive behavioral therapy but it still hasn't worked and i actually feel worse since starting it 6 months ago. All the techqniues i have used either didn't work or worked for a tiny bit before giving me a huge low the next day, which makes me wish i had never been born, it sounds pathetic as nothing else is going on in my life thats particularly wrong (its just a lot of small things, although a few have affected me worse then others) but i can't help feeling like that, whenever someone tells me to be happy for what i have and to stop being so selfish, i try but i often feel worse. I know its a selfish thought to go on about how anious and depressed i am but the feeling just won't go away and i hate living like this, i am anxious literally 24/7 and i forgot what it feels like to be more relaxed and happy, even for a second. I have almost got to feel a second of no anxiety with some technqiues such as CBT but these have been for under a second. I don't know why it isn't working but it just doesn't stick even though i practice CBT every day. Relaxation techiques don't work and nor does hypnosis because im too anxious when they happen,so i can never be relaxed, im always to anxious to last for more then a second. Hypnosis makes me feel a little better during, even though i am still very anxious, but fails completely afterwards, i feel the same or worse. So i hope this gives anyone reading this a good picture about my situation so does anyone know if anxiety can be incurable? If it is i will stop trying to reduce the anxiety and try and live with it rather then getting even more anxious about it not going away. Also please no religious comments as I am not religious, i just point this out because every post their is a religious one but these can't answer my question. No offense to anyone who is religious, its just not for me.Lastly, i always do try and get involved in social activities its not like i hide away but getting involved in them hasn't made me feel better i feel worse. Again i don't know why this happens. moreResolved Question: A few psychology questions... Can anyone be of help?

once about 6 month ago i've drunk 1 liter of strong coffee to not sleep and do my pre-exam work (stupid, i know). then occured my first panic attack, my body was shaking, my heart was beating very fast, i had horrible tremor and i thought im gonna die, i had strong feeling of anxiety, really scared. my mom called ambulance, i've been brought to the hospital. there my thoughts vere like this "oh, no, im gonna die OMG!'' changing to "no, no, doctors said its ok and you'll be ok" and they (thoughts) were changing veery quickly. some-how i fellt asleep. but on the day after tommorow, on evening there's occured strong fear for no reason, i asked to nurse for an soporific but she said "ok, wait" and since then i didnt see her. but its became ok. but after 2 weeks it occured again when i was about go to sleep: i was fearing that i'll get brain hemmorhaging because i have ICP. after i waked up, the world became so strange and my mood was so horrible, it was true heavy depression. then i thought "what if it will never end and i will... kill myself" since then i've got real fear of suicide, despite such "mood" had gone in 5 days, i was still feeling disturbance because of obsessive thoughts about suicide (i didnt planned it and didnt want to die for sure). then these thoughts transformated into thoughts about sense of life, sense of everything, sense of the sense itself, thoughts became endless and regular, some times all of this were accompained with short-time depression (4-5 days per month). after few months they have weakened and even for some time i was forgetting about them, and later they became just a kind of a habit and since then hadn't any panic attack expirience for 5 months, just some disturbance. but few days ago somehow i started to doubting that this world is real (my mom, my tv, human history, everything) and it really made me sad and very disturbing, i strarted to think about that everytime when i don't sleep. i understand by my mind thats all of these dumb thoughts are crap and there's no reality but this one and i have to live as i always used to. but this obsession just "waves" me. my thoughts became so deep and endless that i learnt what the chaos theory is. i dont sure about anything, starting with simple solutions and that the human language isnt enought to explain even what an person actually think. so my question is how to remove all this sh*t from my head for it will never come back? hypnosis? psychoterapy?a psychiatrist? menthal hospital? am i going insane? please don't tell me that "i'm wrong", i know that im in reality but these obsessions just living by their own life. help me. sorry for bad english. moreResolved Question: How can I make my parents happier?

I became depressed when i was 11 from my papa dieing, parents divorcing, my mom finding a new boyfriend and moving to a new house. It was too much for me to handle at once that i ended becoming depressed and also not eating. When i started grade 7 i finally came over my depression, since school was keeping me busy and distracted. I was so i happy i was free from my depression and lived a normal life for a child. And then enter grade 8 this year and i now suffer from really bad anxiety and worrying. I started to get panic attacks all the time. My breathing became bad and i got less and less sleep. I still have it now. I thought i sorta got over my it and breathing issues, but they have started to return. I hate it. I miss school because i worry myself sick. And then my teacher who is evil makes fun of me for missing a day. Not to my face but during the day that im away. It makes me worry even more what he thinks of me. And what others think of me. No one but my mom knows that i suffer from such horrible anxiety. I wish i could just tell everyone at my school, so they would stop making fun of me for missing a day or not going to some dance. I miss a lot of fun events too. I worry that something bad will happen and i end up making myself sick and staying away from it. I hate therapy as you can tell i don't like telling my problems to people. Even my mom once said i'm just messed up. I care way too much what other think of me and have really bad trust issues. I heard hypnosis works and my mom knows someone who does it. I don't know what i should do. I'm home today from school because my breathing is bad, but now i'm going crazy because i'm worried what my teacher will think of me missing a day and my friends. i have a deep sadness in me. i can trace it back to 3rd grade. from there is has grown and now, at age 30, it consumes me totally. it has, over the years, cost me my life, which has been taken piece by piece. i've tried depression medication and they made me suicidal. i've tried therapy and it just made me angry. i've tried everything from meditation to self-hypnosis to no avail. the only thing i've found that comes close to balancing me out is pot, which has its own obvious drawbacks (like making it impossible to find work or leaving me desperate when its not available, and of course, it makes me a criminal.) i don't want to be sad anymore. does anyone have any suggestions? any novel ideas from which to approach this problem? moreResolved Question: what is cognitive behavioural therapy?
i was due to start today but i had to change my appointment because my parents couldnt look after our shop and i couldnt leave it unattended. i feel releived though because i had no idea what it was and was getting very anxious about it. i was seeing a councellor, but after one session i got a call to say i needed more help than a councellor and i wouldnt be seeing the councellor again. then i got a letter saying i was to go to hospital for cognitive behavioural therapy. my dad told me it was hypnosis and they would put all my phobias in front of me and let me freak about them... yes i know he's an insensitive basssssket lol basically i thought i was suffering from depression and anxiety but now (my councellor didnt really explain, but hinted) that i have OCD i was given a booklet for sleep issues (i sleep to much and dont wish to wake) and a boolet for 'low mood and mild depression' after the phone call she told me to throw the booklets away and dont read them because they 'didnt suit my situation' but i already read them. does this mean im more messed up than i thought? and what IS cognitive behavioural therapy?thought i should mention, the fears r there: im terrified of insects, being sick and (dont laugh =z ) a roundabout in chester. i also dread social situations with strangers but im working on that by serving customers in my parents shop. =] i can already tell im gonna find it hard picking a best answer =] thanks for your help ppl moreVoting Question: How Can I Stop Blushing?
ok, i'm fucking tired of my face lighting up like a Christmas tree every time i find myself in an awkward social situation. I know that when you blush, your blood vessels open up and the blood floods on the inner portion of your face, well for example today my friend Daniel just kept asking random people if i looked like a guy that watches too much porn (and btw i don't), and i didn't know how to react, i found myself in an awkward situation and the blood vessels cracked open and i blushed. On top of the fact that i am very self-concious of myself and one of the partners in my group pointed out "awww, he's blushing" and then the blood vessels practically ripped in half and i was as red as a flame. It's bad enough that I have self-confidence issues and have been medically diagnosed with mild depression. I'M SICK OF IT! I WANT TO JUST LIVE A NORMAL LIFE WITHOUT THIS CURSE! I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO STOP! HELP ME! I've heard that "stop blushing hypnosis" works great, but i'm tight on money and can't afford it. So if there are sites that have those sort of hypnosis mp3's for free, i'd love that. And also maybe just some tips on how i can stop would be amazing. thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: How do I get over things that have happened in my life?

Been under the psych's for 12 years, been on hundreds of meds, had CBT, tried natural remedies, hypnosis, herbs, acupunture, hypnosis, vitamins...the lot. I hav done years of research about the drugs I have taken, which range from SSRIS, antipsychotics (to stop racing bad thoughts, I have never been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder) tricyclics, benzos, beta blockers, SNRI'S....you name it, I have taken it, all with no effect. I can't even get tired when I take enough benzos to knock out a horse, which leads me to believe I have some sort of chemical imbalance in the brain. The Dr's are at a loss as to why I don't respond to anything. Does ANYONE out there have my symptoms (especially being scared of EVERYTHING) and have taken any medication that has had any effect? PLEASE do NOT link me to some article about treatments, or advise anything unless you have experiences my exact symptoms over an extended period of time, as I said, I have done years of research. I am interested in what medication made a difference only, not lifestyle changes, as I want to cross examine my response to medication compared to other peoples. Also has anyone had ECT and it worked? After trying everything else I am pretty desperate and willing to try anything. I do not care if I lose my memory, they are all horrible anyway. Thanks. Thanks, I will look into gluten intolerance, I do have a ridiculous amount of adrenaline, I can actually feel it. I have read that there is no proof that serotonin helps mood however, and if this is the case, why do SSRI's not help in alleviating the anxiety? moreResolved Question: can hypnosis help for overeating, depression, divorce?

I'm typically a sufferer of a growing form of anxiety since my early childhood. My anxiety in general has been there since I was a child - really becoming prevalent starting around my 5-6 grade years in grade school. The depression was always showing early signs around this time too. Dysthymia symptoms came about around highschool and most days I went through school only working and showing little or no interest in any social aspects (i.e. I had a problem when it came to working in groups and typically did very poorly.) I'm in my 3rd year of college now and only until about these 3 years ago, I've been having depressive mental breakdowns that last all day. I had 2 the past month now and my family and friends are growing very concerned. When they occur, my mind and body feel like they are suffering from a very strong chemically induced state. I've been given tons of advice and offers to do things during the episodes, but nothing has yet to work and I can only think about and look for help when not in an episode. Almost like hypnosis. I've been told many times, my personality changes too and I start to bend the truth a lot during the episodes with a heavy resistance to help. It's weird, even I don't understand what I said once I awaken after a long sleep from them. Sleep is the one relief option I know of at the moment. moreResolved Question: How effective is hypnosis for BDD/Depression?

I suffer with anxiety and depression...really very badly. I get psyched out even in my own home. My moods are very strange. One minute I am clear headed, the next I feel disorientated and scared. I am pretty much agoraphobic. I am not scared of needles, in fact after a recent blood test I actually found myself feeling very coforted and really wanting more needles...in my other arm as well, to even up the sensation! So I am considering acupuncture. Because I get a LOT oftension around my head and neck I thought of having an indian head massage...that just sounds divine... Then there is hypnosis. Because I wonder if there is something in my subconcious which undermines me and I need to sort that out, rather than just try and calm me down temporarily. moreResolved Question: If someone was sexually abused as an infant and nobody knew about it....(con't)?
Say a random family member or friend of the family did it and the child was like under 3 or 4 and couldn't remember it. Is there a hypnosis that can bring back the memories of it later on in life and is the person going to have psychological problems later on even if they can't remember? The reason I am asking is because I found out that one of my cousins was molested by another cousin and I have heard stories that my brother used to bring me over this cousin's house when I was a baby. (The cousin who got molested and I are around the same age so I am guessing that my bro didn't know he was a molester at the time and my bro was a lot older than me, like early 20's at the time so I'm thinking he may have even left me alone with my cousin) I'm now wondering if I could have been molested also but too young to remember. I have severe depression and other psychological disorders but I can't remember anything happening particularly traumatic in my childhood. Is there anyway I can find out?Alpha Guy, you are just mad because you probably molest children yourself, loser LOL I have no intention of doing anything to him because no one in my family knows where he is, he's an alcoholic and never comes around. I just want to know if it happened to me for the sake of knowing. My God, wouldn't most people want to know why they suffer from depression and other psychological problems for no apparent reason?and alpha, maybe you want to research child molestation more because it is a fact that children who are molested have more psychological problems later in life. I guess you are just too stupid to deal with facts, dumbass.Thank you Bob and Mary. It is nice to know that there are still some people with integrity here on Yahoo! Today i went to the place where i was raped, at our local playground. I sat in the exact place that he drugged me and took off my clothes when i was unable to move or talk. I walked the same way home afterwards. I knew the guy for years, since i grew up on swim team with him. I thought i could trust him so i snuck out to get high with him at the playground. Little did i know that he laced the pot with some sort of date rape drug. No wonder he didnt want to smoke as much as me. As soon as i couldnt move anymore, he took off my pants. He raped me as i was crying, unable to move or yell for help. Although no one wouldve been able to hear me anyways. I still wake up in the middle of the night crying from a nightmare of this night. How can i forget this memory? Does hypnosis work? I wish i could just get amnesia. Please help... 1.) Robert went to a hypnotist to help him quit smoking. Which of the following predictions best states what the hypnotist would do? The hypnotist would suggest changes in Robert’s feelings, perceptions, thoughts, or behaviors related to smoking. The hypnotist would stimulate Robert’s five senses using monotonous hypnotic induction and force him to quit smoking. The hypnotist would ask Robert to go to sleep until the hypnosis is over. The hypnotist would ask Robert to do something that is against his will to motivate him to stop smoking. 2.) People who are depressed are more likely to eat chocolate to feel better. Which of the following explains this mood change? The brains of depressed people produce too little serotonin, and eating chocolate increases the amount of this neurotransmitter in the brain. The perception of a depressed person is negative, and the dopamine in chocolate makes the brain have a positive perspective. Certain memories may be the cause of depression, and eating chocolate effects norepinephrine levels and minimizes the ability to remember. Depressed people have too little acetylcholine, so they feel lethargic, and the caffeine in chocolate gives them energy. 3.) Hans is watching television while talking on the phone to his friend about their favorite video game. When he hangs up, Hans doesn’t remember what was on television while he was talking to his friend. Which of the following best explains Hans’s experience? A human brain can’t process and interpret visual and auditory stimuli at the same time. Selective attention allows us to sense some stimuli without actually perceiving them. When we encounter several stimuli, we will only sense the ones that are loudest. When we encounter a figure-ground relationship, we have to separate stimuli from one another. moreResolved Question: Hypnosis or cognitive behavioral therapy: which is better and a quicker remedy for negative thinking?
