Open Question: What do you think about these things (? about radical Islam and its spread)?

Hi, I just read this on Yahoo from a poster named Templar...I found his information to be interesting, not sure if it is accurate, but seems like it could be. What do you think about this? Is it historically accurate? Are there other factors involved in these countries he listed? : "The Islamization of America and the World Throughout history, in every culture where Islam has ascended, they have conquered by making extinct their host culture. Islam does not assimilate into societies, it dominates them! There is no "getting along with Islam," there is only acquiescence to its never-ending demands. Islam is not a religion – it is a complete system. Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a cover for all the other components. Islamic rule occurs when there are enough Muslims in the host country to fight for their so-called “religious rights.” When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their “religious rights,” Muslims become more assertive and increasingly more aggressive. Here’s how it works according to a Central Intelligence Agency 2007 report: When the Muslim population remains 1% - 2% of a country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority as in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, Italy, and Norway. At 2% - 4% of the population they begin to proselytize ethnic minorities and begin major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs as they have done in Denmark, Germany, U.K., Spain, and Thailand. From 5% - 8% of the population they exercise a greater influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For instance, they increase pressure on supermarket chains to carry Islamic foods on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply with their demands as they have done in France, the Philippines, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago. At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under the Sharia Law. At 10% - 15% of the population, they increase lawlessness as a means of achieving compliance with their demands. Any action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats as in Guyana, India, Israel, Kenya, and Russia. After reaching 20% - 50% of the population expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burnings as they have done in Ethiopia, Bosnia, Chad, and Lebanon. From 60% - 70% of the population you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels as they have done in Albania, Malaysia, Qatar, and Sudan. After reaching 80% - 90% of the population expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide as they have done in Bangladesh, Egypt, Gaza, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, and Turkey. At 100% of the population they will compel all people to adopt Islam or they will put them to death as they have done in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Yemen. Muslims are coming to a neighborhood near you. Never think they “accept” you! Never believe they will not harm you! The ultimate goal of Islam is to establish Sharia law over the entire world. Resistance is futile unless they are kept out in the first place!"Aonghas - I looked into the Bosnian War a bit. It seems very complex...for ex: ...The war involved several sides. According to the numerous International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia judgments the conflict involved Bosnia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (later Serbia and Montenegro) [1] as well as Croatia.[2] According to an International Court of Justice judgment, Serbia gave military and financial support to Serb forces, which consisted of the Yugoslav People's Army, the Army of Republika Srpska, the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska, and Serb Territorial Defense Forces. Croatia gave military support to Croat forces of the self-proclaimed Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosnia....These factions changed objectives and allegiances several times at various stages of the war."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnian_waralso it seems that the Serbs (who committed most the atrocities) main religion is both Christian and Muslim (related - though it is hard for me to tell... " After the Schism, those who lived under the Byzantine sphere of influence became Orthodox and those who lived under the Roman sphere of influence became Catholic. Later, with the arrival of the Ottoman Empire, many Serbs were converted into Islam, today members of the Gorani and Bosniaks (Muslims by nationality). "...Geographically this nation's Church represents the westernmost bastion of Orthodox Christianity in Europe, which shaped its historical fate through contacts with Catholicism and Islam..." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbs#ReligionAonghas - could you give me a source (link) that breaks it down more for me (Bosnia)...It seems very complicated for me to understand. more

Voting Question: Americans say Spain is racist, Italy is racist, Asia is racist, so America isn't racist then lol?

I recently came back from a one month stay in Spain, I am an Indian guy [India]. In fact I found that Americans are 10 times more openly racist and racist behind closed doors than people in other countries. I have lived in other countries and never once in Italy did I get any trash for being an Indian (India) guy and never once is Spain did I get any trash for it. Now Americans are being delusional and saying stuff like their country is the most racially tolerant and accepting and more accepting than other countries. JUST HOW? Because Indian people (India) are treated like trash in the US, you can't even live like a decent human being here because everyone will start assuming you are a threat to the country, most Americans think all Indians are short and dark, most Americans HATE Indian people to the core, majority of them think that all Indians smell bad and most will not even dare talk to one. I just don't get how America gets the title of being the least racist country on earth when they hate Indian people and Middle Eastern people for no good reason and if it is a "reason" it is based on a stereotype. The media here is so f*cking racist and everything, so how is America even close to being the least racist country on earth? more

Resolved Question: Where in the US would I find Latinas that are not heavily against dating Indian [India] males?

I currently live in the Southeast and the Latinas I know over here are mainly Puerto Rican, most of them came here from NYC because their parents got jobs down here. Puerto Rican girls in my experience are kind of racist, mainly they go for Latin guys or Black guys. I have asked two out, both brutally rejected me. I am serious and yes as a result I am sad for it, that is why I ask questions on Yahoo Answers because I am so freaking confused. I am not a bad guy, I get along with mostly everyone. Thing is the only type of Latinas they have in my area are Puerto Ricans and they are pretty racist, mainly against Whites, Asians and everyone except for Latins and Blacks. So I know to keep away from Puerto Rican chicks now after two HARSH rejections. Issue is this, in two years I will be moving. I really want to get a date with a Latina but I just don't know how, I mean I tried but the only ones I come across are Puerto Ricans. I have not had any other interactions with Latinas, my friends say that Mexican and Cuban chicks are more against dating Indian guys. In two years when I move from community college to a 4 year university to finish my degree (did it to save money), I want to go to a more diverse place. Where will I find Latinas who are not heavily against dating Indian men? I am a Christian, no bad accent and bad smell and the funny thing is I get mistaken for Middle Eastern and Hispanic a lot but the Puerto Rican chicks in my are super racist, against Whites, Asians, Indians, Middle Eastern and all other people so I am guessing I should stay out of the Northeast. more

Resolved Question: Is it wrong that I want Hispanics to be the majority in the US?

So I have a better chance of being with a Latina or dating or marrying a Latina? I live in a town that is mostly Black and White, it is in the deep south, little to no Hispanics here. I am an Indian (India) guy and I find that whenever Indian guys date or marry outside of their own race it is with a White woman because White women are a majority in the US, there are more White women than Latinas, Black girls or Asian girls. I am not attracted to White women AT ALL, I will not date or marry one and you can call me a racist it won't answer the question, I am not attracted to White women so hippies screw off with the whole "open minded" BS. I want to be with a Latina but I feel that it is impossible because there are little to no Latinas in the US, most of the ones in my area are Puerto Rican but they are really urbanized and only go for Black or Latin guys. I feel that if Latinos become the majority in the US I will have a better chance of being with a Latina and my chances will increase. I mean it is so hard to find a Latina in the US and I just want Hispanic people to be the majority so I have a better chance of marrying a Hispanic woman. Is it wrong that I want this to happen? I don't know how else I can get with a Latina. more

Voting Question: i need help correcting this mini essay. my teacher said this includes, confusedwords/fragemnts/missing coma.,?

Mother Tongue By Amy Tan shows us the different between languages. It shows us that rather than becoming accustomed to English, we should recognize and embrace our mother tongue. It would help us realize who we are in this world. In the essay there were different types of language used. There was correct and there was broken language used. There is different language used depending on the rhetorical situation. For example when Amy Tan was talking to a large group and she was using correct. With her mother sometimes she was using broken. This essay might help us find our own power of language like Amy Tan said. Our way of speaking is what can help you in the real world. From this essay by Amy Tan I can take away that the style in which a person speaks is important in life. It can differ from talking at home to your parents and talking to your friends at school. It is okay to have different styles of speaking and its okay that people may not understand you as much as you would like them to. I have made snap judgments about another person before. One of my dad's friends had came to America from India for the first time. Throughout the time he was here, he had always spoken broken English for example "how you are?" instead of how are you? After he had been in America for a year his English still was not very good. I thought he was not that educated. A little while later my parents had told me that in India was an accountant and had a good job up there, but he came to America so his children could have more opportunities. Things that i can change about myself is not to judge a book by its cover. Just by looking and hearing someone i should not judge them. They could turn out to be smarter then me even though they do not know English. This essay has taught me that language is different whether it be from people who know English or people who do not. more

Voting Question: Student detained by border patrol while coming from san diego to LA in random pullover,no criminal background?

My friend came from india as a visitor and changed into a valid F1 student visa from 2006 to 2008, he is currently out of status, due to extreme hardship and has a lawyer working on his case. Last friday he was coming from San Diego to LA, He was a passanger in the car, please note he wasn't driving the car at all.The Border patrol made a random stop, Infact No traffic violation was made at all. They searched everyone in the car including my friend and found his Indian passport with an expired visa. They detained him and ever since hes in the border patrol facility with no access, I know that we can only do something when he is moved to the immigration and customs enforcement(ICE) but they aren't taking him to the ICE,because of non availability of bed space. Can anyone has the correct information about how long can they keep him at the border patrol and when do they really transfer people to ICE for deporatation proceedings. And if there is something we can do to make sure that the border patrol does have to transfer him to ICE for his proceedings, so our lawyer can file for bond. Thanks for all your valuable comments..I would advise you all to vent out ur personal grudges by creating hate blogs against illegals.. I have a genuine concern for my friend and am asking for some one who has experienced the same or has some valuable knowledge to advise me, and i am looking not some illitrate opinion from frustrated lazy unemployed dillusional and blaming other races lot of people, so get over it guys. more

Resolved Question: This has got to stop please help!! (please read) i'm crying I don't know what to do?

Hi, please i'm really angry so I don't care about my grammar right now sorry. My name is Justin and I im 14 years old and is friends with these to guys one that is Indian and another that is chinese. We hang out I normally help them with their homework since they look to me as the smart guy since I get all A's and study a lot. We go to each other house and they normally make these racial comments about my skin color and always laugh at this joke when they ask me if i'm from Africa. They want to say I like fried chicken and also make comments about me working out in fields. I know they are playing they even said they were and I know that they might not mean harm because they are playing but deep down they really mean that and the more jokes they make the more worse it gets. i'm not a temper person so I can stay calm but when I go home I cry about this. I told them to stop so many times, but it's not working. I'm not the kind of person to just stop helping them or hurt them by stop being their friend I just don't know what can I do? I mean all the stuff they said it not true. 1. They say I eat fried chicken all the time. That not true I really don't even like fried chicken to eat it a second thing if I eat it the first. 2. They joke around saying I should go work on the fields. But they know as well as I do that i'm a thinker that is opened up to new possibilities everyday. It's funny how they steady joke about me but they always want my help. Both of them are in their first pre ap class and I been in ap since elementary. 3.They always make these motion movements like they are whipping me and i'm suppose to be the slave. You know, slavery was apart of the American history and I don't find it not a once funny how we should make fun of that. They are 14 years old and they should have reached the maturity to know that every ones culture is unique and who care if i'm from Africa you don't make fun of that you should wanting to learn about it. I would go back to my home country, but i'm already in it! (United States) That's just like me tell them to go back to China and India, but you don't here me say that because it not funny, it's lame. 4. They really like to call me a Nigger! This is one those things that pisses me off I don't care what race you are I DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED THAT! I don't see why is that in the dictionary. They always want to laugh and call me a nigger but they are ignorant to know that Indians have the racial name sand niggers but he thinks he is free from all racial profiling! They even said it funny making fun of me and also said one of the most ignorant comments ever, " We are getting back at you for what your people did to us" NO BLACK PERSON IN THIS WORLD REPRESENTS ME! Please what should I do? more

Resolved Question: is religion real or is it just brain washing people?

i think religion is a bit brain washing .. i'm a catholic but if i was born in india i'd be a seek or middle east muslim (not sure if there right but you get what i mean) your onlyca the religion you are beuse your born into it.. like theres like 600 religions in the world .. they cant all be true so how do we know. lik i was born in ireland so im a christian BUT how can anyone say they believe in that religion when they dont know every religion thats out there :) also with all the pedo rings with priests i find it hard to believe anything now..and i understand not every priest was like that but its still wrong how many there were. find it hard to understand why theres so many horrible people in the world when the good die young also the vatican makes me sick.. all the "so called" commandments... all the gold in that place is stolen from the Colosseum .. (thou shall not steal) ! thou shall not commit adultry... but they think its ok to cover up a huge pedo ring! nearly every war has been caused by religion .. like northern ireland catholics and protestants were literally killing each other over religion but if they cared about their religion so much they wouldn't even imagine killing another person i believe in after life i think but its more like super natural stuff.. not ghosts or anything but you cant kill an energy.. we are an energy i suppose our soul.. i dont kno though. p.s... i dont want to offend any body.. im not trying to be disrespectful to anyone i just don't really understand any of it too many un answered questions for me :)thats why im asking... so i can hear other peoples views and see if they can correct me cos i dont know more

Voting Question: Seven Warning Signs Of Bogus Science #6?

Okay, so I have to do this summer research thing for the high school I'm going to in September. And one of the things I have to do is read this article, the seven warning signs of bogus science: http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/signs.html I also need examples of all the signs. But I can't find any examples of number six: 6. The discoverer has worked in isolation. The image of a lone genius who struggles in secrecy in an attic laboratory and ends up making a revolutionary breakthrough is a staple of Hollywood's science-fiction films, but it is hard to find examples in real life. Scientific breakthroughs nowadays are almost always syntheses of the work of many scientists. So like, I need an example of scientists working alone and it turning out to be bogus science. Like, if you don't know what I mean, because I'm probably not explaining this right, here's an example. 5. The belief is credible because it has endured many years. For example, many years ago, people thought the Earth was flat. Columbus decided to test this theory, and take an alternative route to India, but accidentally stumbled upon America. And in the process, he proved that the world is, in fact, spherical. So yeah, like I need an example like that, but for number six. Like, not tips on how to tell what bogus science is, but and example of that specific thing happening in reality. Hopefully I'm explaining this right. But can you pretty please help me? Please? more

Resolved Question: Do New Yorkers get too bad of a reputation, am I the only one that thinks they don't deserve it?

New Yorkers are rude, mean, nasty, cold hearted etc. Right, I can say as an Indian (India) male who has lived in the deep south, west coast and now lives in NYC, New Yorkers are not that bad at all. I mean at first they may be a bit rude to you, they may not smile and wave at you like southerners but then again they don't call you many racial slurs either. Anyways, being in NYC for months now, I find that New Yorkers are very real, when they like you, they mean it, when they HATE you, they mean it. I admire the lifestyle here and I like how people here are actually the type to look over race/ethnicity. You have Irish guys dating Black girls, Puerto Rican girls dating Arab guys, Black guys dating Asian girls, Asian guys dating Indian girls and NO one cares to comment or even care about it. Down south people would make a huge fuss about a Black - White relationship and out west people would look down on others for dating other races, like a Black guy would get flak for dating an Asian girl and he would get accused of having yellow fever. I find New Yorkers are not that bad AT ALL, am I the only that thinks this? more

Resolved Question: How tough of a time would an Indian (India) guy have getting with a Latina in Miami?

I was thinking about moving to Miami when I finish med school or finding a hospital in Miami to work in. Now I heard that Miami has a large Latin population but my friends say that the Latinas there only date Black or White guys if they don't date Hispanic guys. Now the thing is I am an Indian (India) guy interested in dating a Latina. I have been told to move to Miami from some of my friends but a lot of people have told me that they have never seen an Indian (India) guy - Latina pairing in all of their years in Miami. I want to ask you guys a two part question 1. How tough of a time would an Indian (India) guy, if he is a doctor have getting with a Latina in Miami? 2. Have you ever seen an Indian (India) guy - Latina pairing before in Miami? more

Resolved Question: What do you think of Ruth Cranston's message of Universalism?

As a minister’s daughter, Ruth Cranston knew the teachings of the Bible, but she longed to discover the deeper values that shaped all the world’s religions. Cranston found a belief on which to build her life in the words of Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, and Mohammed. "I was blessed with a father and mother whose lives were shining lessons in character and goodness. As a child, I heard the Bible read daily. But the doctrines of the church were confusing and never very real to me. I had not worked out a personal belief or philosophy of my own, when trouble struck—as it did early, and hard. Casting about for something solid to hang on to in that difficult time, I began studying the great spiritual systems of the world for myself. Not the present day doctrines, but the original teachings of the founders of religion: the world’s great prophets and seers. I was struck with two things: First, the simplicity of the teachings of the great masters of religion. Second, the similarities in their teachings and the repetition of certain fundamental principles, which appeared again and again. I heard them from the Hindu pundits at Benares, and from the yellow-robed high priests at the Buddhist college in Ceylon, at the family shrine of a humble hill-town weaver in south India, and in the magnificent Temple of Confucius in Peking. The same truths. And how long they had endured, through ages and centuries, while all else changed. But they remained. Why? Surely they must hold something very close to reality. As I listened and pondered and steeped my mind in these great truths of all time, my own problems here in this present time cleared up. I began to see my way, and a possible philosophy for a person of this modern day and age filtering through the simple statements of Jesus and Buddha, Krishna, Mohammed, and Moses. I began to feel firm ground under my feet. They taught the unity of all life; the interdependence of all men; love and service to fellow man; help, not exploitation, of the weak and backward. They taught nonviolence and non-injury. They all taught purity of life and of motive, simplicity of life too, and that true riches are within. They taught the worth of individual man and the ability of every man to rise to higher states of development than we are now experiencing. They taught the immortality of the soul and the building of the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. People say, yes these are noble truths—a grand ideal—but they won’t work in practical everyday existence. Gandhi worked them. St. Francis worked them. Modern business executives are working them in scores of successful business enterprises. After a life spent among many different peoples, I am convinced that they are the only things that will work—for you, for me, for us all. A pattern of life, putting into concrete daily practice these eternal truths, taught by every prophet of God from time immemorial. No atom bomb can destroy them. No scientific theory can nullify them. For me they constitute a solid rock on which to build my life and the life of the whole world in these or any other times."http://thisibelieve.org/essay/16467/ more

Voting Question: Why are the majority of young African Americans like this?

Notice I said majority and young (I know all aren't like this since I live in the US) I usually use a website called tiny chat because I am tired of the crazy things I see in chat roulette. I get along fine with everyone from different countries EXCEPT African Americans. Every time I join an chat room filled with AA they make fun of me because I am African (black but not African American) Now I know that makes NO sense because they are black. As soon as they see my facial features they start speaking like Africans and ask me if I went hunting for dinner, they also say they didn't know countries in Africa had internet. I am from the Caribbean but they dont even bother finding out first. They bash me as if I am inferior to them. Why are African Americans like this, WHAT THE F*ck is so funny about an African who looks like he/she is from Africa? Is that a sin? I am beginning to think African Americans are brainwashed!!!!! Who the hell is ashamed of their own race just because they come from a poorer country and look different. Thats like whites hating white people form the UK, it just makes NO sense. Its also like Indians hating Indians from India.....I juts dont get it!!! What do you think makes people have this weird mentality??? Is it the media? It has to be the media since they never show anything good about Africa. The media makes every country look good except countries in Africa. The first time I saw the loveliness of Africa is when I saw the move 'How stella got her groove back'. I have never been to Africa but I am SURE it has nice things there. There are a lot of foreign student from Africa on campus and they tell me so much good things about their home country. Would you ever make fun of your own kind? What is the wold coming to where you have to worry about your own kind making fun of you? I bet Martin Luther king would be angry if he was in this world today more

Voting Question: HELP.what are my options.what should i do..please be reasonable and honest..do i cut ties or be honest?

his tuesday is raksha bandhan and i know my cousin from india might call me..I tod him I posted personal information on fbook because there is a lot going on in life which I could not keep to myself and due to the current recession here in the U.S. , its hard for me to get over my parents divorce after 13 years. The recession is causing a lot of financial problems for everyone and their families. Several students my age are either single mothers or married. They ask me why I am not married and why I dont have kids. The state of California is sinking and the economy is getting worse. Lately, there has been a lot of crime. i also told him that people tease me because all i do in life is visit my dad and dont get to have fun, when the truth was-people tease me because i came from a broken family, i'm lonely in life,i had a bad childhood, i've always excluded from certain things in life,i grew up in daycares etc... are these things that can kill a child..they also ask what kind of mother i have who is always more concerned about going on vacation with only four employees vs finding time to spend with her daughter.. i was going to cut ties with him because he's on my mom's side for letting her visit india for a month when she claims she doesnt have vacation time nor does she have time to spend with me.. if he were to call me, should i even answer his call and explain to him the truth or just ignore him forever..i'm really mad..everyone is on my mom's side please be honest and reasonable. in one of his emails, he said, some people will understand your misery and others wont..maybe we'll get to talk about it in detail very soon" he'll continue to say, "what doesnt kill you makes you stronger"..how can make my cousin understand my mom is taking her jov for granted these days along with so millions of others and she needs to stay focused so that she can retire next year after i graduate from college.. i deleted all of my cousin's emails because i am fed up with the fact that he is on my mom's side instead of realizing a company with only four employees is really hard to manage vacation time..my mom's boss was mad at her last year for taking 2 week vacation for europe after her company lais of 12/16 employees and this year my mom is taking a month vacation for india..my mom had already asked for too much time off and i bet you her boss is mad at her and eventually she will get fired...she should be glad to have a job and should really stay focused... i need advice...please tell me ur reasonable feedback....i'm fed-up.......California is sinking and as a student, i am affected because more layoffs, no jobs, and all colleges and schools are double packed.... how do i explain my mom SHOULD NOT BE GOING TO INDIA WHEN HER COMPANY ONLY HAS FOUR EMPLOYEES..SHE HAS ALREADY TAKEN TOO MUCH TIME OFF AND HER BOSS WILL EVENTUALLY FIRE HER......CAN SOMEONE HELP ME more

Lately, there has been a lot of crime. i also told him that people tease me because all i do in life is visit my dad and dont get to have fun, when the truth was-people tease me because i came from a broken family, i'm lonely in life,i had a bad childhood, i've always excluded from certain things in life,i grew up in daycares etc... are these things that can kill a child..they also ask what kind of mother i have who is always more concerned about going on vacation with only four employees vs finding time to spend with her daughter.. i was going to cut ties with him because he's on my mom's side for letting her visit india for a month when she claims she doesnt have vacation time nor does she have time to spend with me.. if he were to call me, should i even answer his call and explain to him the truth or just ignore him forever..i'm really mad..everyone is on my mom's side please be honest and reasonable. in one of his emails, he said, some people will understand your misery and others wont..maybe we'll get to talk about it in detail very soon" he'll continue to say, "what doesnt kill you makes you stronger"..how can make my cousin understand my mom is taking her jov for granted these days along with so millions of others and she needs to stay focused so that she can retire next year after i graduate from college.. i deleted all of my cousin's emails because i am fed up with the fact that he is on my mom's side instead of realizing a company with only four employees is really hard to manage vacation time..my mom's boss was mad at her last year for taking 2 week vacation for europe after her company lais of 12/16 employees and this year my mom is taking a month vacation for india..my mom had already asked for too much time off and i bet you her boss is mad at her and eventually she will get fired...she should be glad to have a job and should really stay focused... i need advice...please tell me ur reasonable feedback....i'm fed-up.......California is sinking and as a student, i am affected because more layoffs, no jobs, and all colleges and schools are double packed.... more

Voting Question: Why am I suddenly finding Indian people attractive?

I've always had Indian friends. I just had never had an interest in their culture and was never attracted to them in that way; it was always platonic. Literally, one day, I woke up and found myself wanting to be immersed in the Indian culture. I downloaded some Indian music, I watched a couple movies set in India/about Indian people, I bought a couple fiction books that are set in India and were said to immerse you into the culture, I tried Indian food for the first time... I just woke up from a dream that included an Indian friend I had in HS and in the dream, I was a little jealous and upset(she was going away?) I know in the dream I liked her, which is why I was jealous/upset. I had watched a movie a couple days previously and developed a crush on one of the actresses who is half Indian/half Polish. This was an Indian film but set elsewhere(Jordan and London?) She did not look Indian and the film didn't include anything about Indian culture. The other female actor was Indian but I didn't like her; I was jealous she was with the other actress and I found her pushover quality a little annoying. I understand that we reach understandings on a subconscious level while we sleep; we come to many realizations. Is it possible I subconsciously associated the half Indian actress with India and it's culture and now have the same feelings for it as I did about the actress? I mean, I've pretty well forgotten about the actress but my new found openness to India remains. I'm not upset about it by any means, believe me. I love to think I'm an open individual and so enjoy being awoken to something else. I would just like to know how this works. What happened while I was exploring my subconscious mind that night?Woah... Realize that didn't answer my question in any way. more

Resolved Question: what is ur opinion on this email message...do i have anyone on my side or my mom's die..be hone.help me please?

what is ur advice about the email message.. please be reasonable and honest..does it seem like everyone is on my side or my mom's side.. my cousin's email: Yes, I know my sister is a tough girl! Let me also tell you that al of us are going through phases full of frustrations, challenges and sorrows. We all have our quota- god has given it to us and only he can give you the strength to come out of them. Do remember him as often as you can. Don’t worry about friends- anyways those who tease you often can never be relied upon as friends- they are more of foes and be careful of them. Single mother is not a happy state to be in-you will regret it more – god forbid if you ever had to get into that state! What you need to relaise is that they don’t have families and relatives- you are fortunate to have a mom, dad and a sister and they all care for you. Caring is not always being together – we all need our space and free time. Maybe after couple of years you will realize this. We all go through this ugly, lonely and desolate phase of life …… then only will you realize the small things in which to find happiness and content. I repeat- what doesn’t kill will only make you stronger……. Focus on your studies , prey to the all mighty and engage in music -- you are a good singer --sharpen your skills and wait for the right moment to attack te wicked world. Cheers and look forward to meeting you soon enough – big girl!! My email: I understand and will be careful. I posted everything on fbook because there is a lot going on in life which I could not keep to myself and due to the current recession here in the U.S. , its hard for me to get over my parents divorce after 13 years. The recession is causing a lot of financial problems for everyone and their families. I am lonely and isolated and I don't have a single friend. Several students my age are either single mothers or married. They ask me why I am not married and why I dont have kids. The state of California is sinking and the economy is getting worse. Lately, there has been a lot of crime. People were teasing me because all I do in life is visit my dad and don't really get to do anything for fun. I am hurt by the fact that when I want to spend time with my mom, she says she doesnt have any time off from her job. She's leaving for India by herself on the 29th and I am really hurt that she has all the time for vacation and doesn't want to include me. Her company only has four employees. She told me that her company cut her vacation time and her hours. In my opinion, she should be happy she still has a job and should focus more on that. I am going through a lot of financial hardship and I need her support. There are no jobs that will work around my schedule and my dad is still on disability leave from his job. As of now, he only goes part time. cousin's email: At this point, I am really worried about my future. I am expected to graduate next year either in March or May and I will be searching for employment for a long period of time. The Medical Field is really affected. What you have to understand is that very few people will appreciate and understand your misery and sympathize from their heart! Other will only ridicule It does’ nt look nice to always see you complain and crib about your family and especially about your mother, put yourself in her shoes and think how hard it must be for her as well (she may not be showing on her face) and continuing to struggle through rough times for last so many years……. These are not justifications but may help you to keep personal issues buried in your heart Whether her attitude and conduct is right or wrong is something for the two of you to decide—it’s a very personal issue and I don’t suggest that you should write too much about your sorrows on fbook for other to make fun of it….. fbook is meant for sharing news, views and general gossip, please limit it to that ------I hope you will understand Maybe we’ll get to talk about it in detail, very soon As they say “Never give up life, miracles do happen” we all work and live in expectation of the miracles to happen Cheers and all the bestdoes it mean they will tell my mom not to go to india more

Voting Question: PLEASE READ!! MIXED ANCESTRY!?

hello. i am a 19 year old female, and being a mix with ethnicities, im curious about my ancestors. My dad is Indian (from punjab) and my mother is german. HOWEVER, on my mom's dad side, we have ancestors from mongolia. she told me they were from 100-200 years ago. when i look at pictures of my great grandparents on that side of the family, i can really see it. also when my mom was a kid, she looked like a little chinese girl lol. my mom has a lot of the features, the eyes, high cheekbones. when i look at myself in the mirror, i can see some of the east asian features on me. i have the high cheekbones. i do have double eyelids though, but the actual shape of my eye resemble someone from east asia. a lot of people always think im native american, or filipino. i have a sandy skin tone...with a yellow tint to it. both of my sisters don't really have these features, they look more asian indian and german. i read somewhere that almost every indian in india had at the least 14% mongol blood, including north indians. however north east indians have more. i guess i could see that.ive been around my indian side of the family my whole life, and ive seen several punjabis with that east asian look. is there a way i could find out how much mongol blood i have in me? i know i have some obviously because i have direct ancestors from there on my moms side. but if asian indians have some in them to, could that be why some of them look like it? thank you =) more

Resolved Question: Could I have your opinion on my poverty speech?

Poverty Ladies and gentleman, I stand before you today to raise your awareness of what is happening in a large number of countries. Do you think that you have a hard life? Do you wish you had more than you do now? Do you want to believe there is hope? This is the reality! Here are the facts. According to The United Nations, some 18 million people a year die due to poverty related causes. That is almost 25,000 a day! And 270 million people have died of poverty, most of them being women and children. These deprived, unfortunate people are lacking basic human needs such as clean water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing and shelter. All of this is happening right now, while you are eating, watching T.V or even sleeping in a nice warm, cozy bed. Do you ever think about this? There are people out there surviving with only what they can find. There are people out there struggling to stay alive. There are people out there who cannot tell the world how they are tormented by poverty. And that’s why I am here today, to give these people who are scratching out a living, a voice. Worldwide every year, nearly 11 million children living in poverty die before their fifth birthday. In India, children are gasping for air, because they're too thin. In Africa, children are participating in armed conflicts. In Haiti, children are being sold as slaves. In Philippines, children are begging for money on the streets. Certain people don't appreciate when they know life is good. Everyday I hear people saying how bad their life is, and how they just can't take it. They should go to countries where they see people don't get to eat, where the choice of food is in short supply. With nowhere to live, and little to eat these people are in desperate need. The world has advanced in many ways, yet poverty still cries out for help. It haunts me, and I just want to put an end to this madness. My mother was once a victim of poverty. She was born in Philippines, and out of 8 children she was the 4th eldest. Everyday, she had the chore of going far away into the mountain, with her sister, where they would collect water for their family. My mother had a job at the age of 13, cleaning houses of the rich where she would only get paid 300 pesos a month, that is about $7.50 in AUD. She would stay up until midnight to collect water, and then work again. Even in terrible weather conditions when a typhoon would be taking place, she would still be forced to work. In the daytime when she had time, she would beg for money on the streets, just enough to buy food and cook for a family of 10. Every night she would go to sleep starving, and wet because of the poor shelter that they had built out of banana leaves. My mother was never educated, as she was very poor. If only we could have seen what she went through, we would understand. Before the industrial revolution, poverty was normal according to “Britannica Encyclopedia”. Everybody suffered from the despair of scarcity, until it was reduced by economic growth. 75% of humanity lived on less than a dollar a day, and while in 2001, only about 20% do. Ladies and gentlemen, it should be our collective mission to transform that 20% into a zero. We can save millions of lives by just donating money to charities supporting poverty. With just a few dollars, you could build a well for clean water, you can send a child to school to be educated, and help them achieve their goals. We could help the starving children in all the poverty affected countries and we'll feel good about it because of the feeling you will get knowing that you have contributed to making this world a better place, not only for the people living in poverty, but for the whole world. So please, when you are presented with a job that you really hate, think about the poverty, and think about the adults in South America who are starving and crying because their jobs are vile, and all the children who go to bed starving, and have to wake up early in the morning to collect enough water for the day. Help me make poverty history, and make this place a better world for others to live in. Sorry its so long lol Any criticisms would help a lot, thank you. PLease tell me what you think more

Resolved Question: Is this adolescent preoccupation with Islam and 9/11 just a political smokescreen?

That thing happened almost a decade ago. Since then the US has invaded two countries and killed thousands in retaliation. A lot more carcasses over there than there were in NYC. But the half-wit patriots and religious fanatics keep coming out with new reasons to wave it around like a bloody flag. Finding new excuses for shrill rhetoric directed at Islam, countries with oil under them, and anyone who doesn't like having powerful, nuclear armed countries riding roughshod over them knocking down their houses, killing their livestock and shooting the legs and arms off their kids. There's some serious stuff going on in the China Sea at the moment, a lot more dangerous than anything involving Islam. There's a US issue with the war on drugs and how it spins in the rest of the Americas needs some careful focus. There are things brewing in Africa people could find of keen interest if they were paying attention. Also Vietnam and the South Pacific. India. So what is it about a 10 year old event that's long been revenged a thousand times over keeps dragging both halves of every two US citizen wits back to whether Islam is scary, or scarier? more

Resolved Question: How can we do transracial adoption well?

I saw an interesting question that touched on this topic but it was about WHETHER one should adopt transracially, rather than what to do when it is already a reality. My husband and I, both white, have adopted one child, who is from a non-white minority group that originated in India. We are preparing to adopt a second child of the same background. We live in the Czech Republic, not in the US, but the issues are the same, if not more extreme in terms of transracial adoption and racism in society and the media. I am a foreigner and thus I will probably always have an immigrant accent and I have a physical disability, so the children would not be the only different people in the family. However, the antagonism in society against the minority that these children come from is intense and unavoidable, even though we don't even own a TV and we get a lot of our media from other places. There are general stereotypes in almost all world media about people with darker skin. There are also still racially segregated schools in areas with large minority populations in this country. We adopted transracially because we could not have biological children and it seemed irresponsible and self-centered to only adopt a child that was already wanted by many families. There are about 100 families waiting for every healthy white child in need of a home in this country. It seems frankly racist to support the continued disadvantage of the minority group by leaving one more child in the bleak orphanages, which actively try to strip minority children of their cultural background. I know I can give a child more of their cultural background, then they would get in an orphanage. There is very little foster care here and the social workers say adoptive families open to minority children are very rare (like one or two in each region annually). The poverty, substandard segregated schools, employment discrimination, housing discrimination and so forth mean that the orphanages are full of children of the non-white minority group, whose birth family couldn't cope. So, my question is how to do the best thing for our child and future children. The main thing I always hear is that we must move to an area where there are people of the same background. That is difficult here because the minority group is only 3 percent in this country. There are segregated housing areas, but they are ghettos. Middle class people of the minority group don't live there. While not everyone in the ghettos is a "bad influence" for children, the high incidence of grinding poverty, drugs, alcoholism, crime, unemployment, depression, police brutality, neo-Nazi attacks and so forth does not make it reasonable to move into a ghetto area. We would like to make friends of the children's background but until they are old enough to join clubs the opportunities are slim. Here is what we have done so far: found dolls of various racial types, including those that look very similar to our child, listen regularly to music of the child's cultural backgorund, attending music festivals of the same music, listen regularly to an internet radio station run by people of the child's background, trying to keep social contact with the few people of the child's background that we do know, found many children's books featuring children of various racial backgrounds, including those that look like our child, attending gatherings of adoptive families with children of the child's background (unfortunately they only exist twice a year), trying to start a local adoptive families group, including similar families, openly discussing racism, the child's birth culture and positive role models that we see as a family and reading a wide variety of books and materials on transracial adoption and the child's birth culture. I would like to hear any constructive ideas that would benefit the children in this situation. Would you send children in this situation to a school that is almost all white and almost certain to be rife with bigotry or would you homeschool them? We aren't wealthy enough to afford the elite private international schools, which would have some students of other non-white backgrounds. Would you specifically move to an area with a segregated school and enroll the child there, even though those schools are officially for the mentally retarded and provide a severely limited education? How would you go about making friends in the minority community, given that a great deal of the people of this group are very hesitant to have any social contact with white people because of their many negative experiences? If one should not tell the child to "turn the other cheek" when racism happens, how should one prepare children for society in such a situation? Thank you for all ideas. P.S. I'm reposting this because this horrid layout made it get "resolved" even though it had only been up for a few hYes, I'm talking about Romani children. The people came from India about a thousand years ago. These children were born here. :) As I explained, the orphanages are not a more culturally appropriate choice. I avoided specifically mentioning the name of the group because my experience is that, once I mention it in a discussion, generally very few people join in because they are concerned that they don't know much about the specific group. There are some details that one does differently in transracial adoption depending on the actual background of the child, but I believe that most of it is common to all. The perspectives of African, Asian, Hispanic and all other kinds of people are relevant to this question. more

August 11, 1947 Jinnah said: There is no other solution. Now what shall we do? Now, if we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy and prosperous, we should wholly and solely concentrate on the well-being of the people, and especially of the masses and the poor. If you will work in co-operation, forgetting the past, burying the hatchet, you are bound to succeed. If you change your past and work together in a spirit that everyone of you, no matter to what community he belongs, no matter what relations he had with you in the past, no matter what is his colour, caste or creed, is first, second and last a citizen of this State with equal rights, privileges, and obligations, there will be no end to the progress you will make. I cannot emphasize it too much. We should begin to work in that spirit and in course of time all these angularities of the majority and minority communities, the Hindu community and the Muslim community, because even as regards Muslims you have Pathans, Punjabis, Shias, Sunnis and so on, and among the Hindus you have Brahmins, Vashnavas, Khatris, also Bengalis, Madrasis and so on, will vanish. Indeed if you ask me, this has been the biggest hindrance in the way of India to attain the freedom and independence and but for this we would have been free people long long ago. No power can hold another nation, and specially a nation of 400 million souls in subjection; nobody could have conquered you, and even if it had happened, nobody could have continued its hold on you for any length of time, but for this. Therefore, we must learn a lesson from this. You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State. Now I think we should keep that in front of us as our ideal and you will find that in course of time Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual, but in the political sense as citizens of the State. Jinnah, August 11, 1947 – presiding over the constituent assembly.Abu Mary@ The Blessed Prophet SAW would do the same as Imam Ali, and oppose these neo-khawarij wahabi/salafi totalitarian deviants.Be Good @ "declaring other muslims a kafir & mushrik" - what are you on about? I am espousing a progressive pluralistic agenda - exactly opposite of what you are accusing me of. I suggest you do some investigation before you go round making wild accusations. more

Resolved Question: Do you find it pathetic how this woman told my girlfriend to leave me because of my race/ethnicity?

So I am an Indian (India) guy and my girlfriend is Hispanic (Puerto Rican), been together for about 5 months now and we are going strong. My parents like her and her parents like me and we wouldn't mind getting married one day. So today she was talking to me in a bookstore about things and this one woman (Australian White lady) pulled her over and told her about my "culture" and how Indian men leave women they go out with for women their parents have arranged for them (my parents do not believe in arranged marriages). Well my girlfriend ignored her and told me about what the woman told her and I asked the woman "yo, we have a problem!". She said "oh quit acting, you people are racist and come from a backwards culture, you are going to leave her for an Indian girl and we all know that, she should be smart and leave you!". I did not even know this woman and my girlfriend and I were both shocked, we just sat down and continued with her life and this woman was going on about how an Indian man left her and blah blah blah. My girlfriend told her to shut the F up and I laughed and the lady threw a fit. Isn't it sad just how some people in this world can be? I mean why do people believe ALL Indian men get arranged marriages? more

Resolved Question: Divorce & Section 498A?

have a question, I am in deep trouble. I have suffered a lot because of my wife. we were married around 3 years back, since then we have not really stayed together. She was employed in a different location and i was employed in Bangalore.I had to travel abroad for work, but she was not ready to leave her job and come with me. Hence i used to travel down to India to meet her as many as 6 times per quarter. She was staying in a PG that time. In another 7-8 months after our marriage, she conceived. She delivered and then i came down to Bangalore. I forced her to come over and stay with me over here with the kid. For the past 2 years we have been separated. I have my own house in Bangalore. I waited for 8 months and after that I filed a divorce petition against her. Mental incompatibility is the main reason, She is unable to adjust with my relatives in my native. She has abused them a lot to that extent that i really do not want to take trouble and take her into my life. Many a times, while i was at work, she has threatened to me over phone that she wanted to end her life and would do it immediately. The problem was she wanted me to leave my job and settle in her family in her native in her mom's house. I had filed for a divorce but many a times she has abstained from coming. The judge had sent for counseling twice and the counsellor had terminated counselling because she would appear once and then not turn up at all. It has been almost 1.5 years the judge is posting for a future date and she is not turning up on account of a job / medical reason. After she left i found my passport missing. She filed a 498A on my and got me and my parents arrested on account of dowry. People who know me,they know my position in society, i have my own house, i dont have sisters to marry off, all my brothers are abroad settled, my parents are goverment servants who are retired. We have our own houses built in 3-4 districts of my state and all are well-off. Why would i want to steal/ keep her her gold and ornaments in custody? I sometimes found the way she talked and thought, she was mentally unsound. Now i am unable to fly abroad as i have my passport stolen and also until the criminal case gets over i cant apply for any VISA. I am stuck here, for the last 2 years, living all alone in Bangalore, cant move out, the case is just getting postponed. My questions are : How long will it take for the divorce to get through? This is definitely not going to be through mutual consent as now she does not want to give in, and her mom has vowed that she will have me suffering in life. She has 100% misused Section 498A to harm me. After we parted i have not had the kid at all with me, except a glance when i have visted the court in my native. How long can she abstain from appearing? It is not continuously she not turning up. ALternate times she does not turn up. I should say there has been around 12 dates given from court, she has appeared just 2-3 times. Each date has a gap of 1.5 months. Can the judge be biased by any chance on my wife's side? (on account of any friendship / fact that he knows them?) I am tired of travelling to native spending around 3k each time going there for a pointless result of her not turning up and the judge posting the same to a future date. When will i get justice? When can i live my life? When can i have my kid? Can i apply for guardianship? The criminal is also charged against me, and the stories mentioned in the charge sheet are all damn ficticious. Any person who knows me, at my workplace or personally, (i work in a company that is ranked top 5 in the market), the technology/ field i work is very much challenging and i have won a lot of client appreciations. The technology i work on is hot in th market and believe me, I have simply posted my resume in the naukri/monster and have got a lot of responses from worldwide organisations. What i mean to say is I am suffering and stuck up here for no reason. I have suffered a lot in my life, my kid is around 3 years old. I am unable to father my kid or even take the kid and cuddle her. What happens to me? How do i gain justice? I have never had a peaceful life. I have never taken anything from her but have always contributed for her well being transferring money, I have not stolen gold from her but I have bought her ornaments on occasions, in fact I had taken her with me to abroad thrice and shown her the place. I have tried my best being a good husband and yes, of course there have been times when I have raised my voice and had to ignore her tantrums. I feel i have never lived a good life. Things were good until i got married and I feel i have put myself into a pit getting her in my life. I am unable to do anything and I now am stuck up in 2 cases - one is the divorce and the other one is Criminal - that she charged against me with a lot of allegations. My self esteem and of my parents, the dignity more

Resolved Question: Has anyone in here even been to the deep south part of the US before, stereotypes are true right?

I have a friend who is Indian (India) and he visited the deep south with me a year ago, we wanted to see how it was like. Of course we are just "Yanks", we had preconceived ideas about the deep south but we kept to ourselves, didn't bother anyone and didn't show off in any way possible. My wife was left to take care of my two Samoyed dogs while my friend and I took a vacation down south. We went to Georgia, then to Alabama and then to South Carolina. Well when people saw me they were okay with it but when they saw my Indian friend (India), they froze and looked at him like he was some monster. I just told him to sit down and went to go get something to eat (we were at a hotel) when a person stopped me and asked "wait, are you hanging out with his type? What is wrong with you". I simply kept walking, this was in Alabama. Also we ran into some people and they asked my friend if he makes car bombs for a living. We also saw a Black guy - White girl couple that received a lot of bad looks. Also I found that the deep south was very poor and had lots of open racism. Was a culture shock to me coming from a multicultural city, how was your experience? more

Resolved Question: How's my main character?

I'm writing a teen novel (: Here are her basic details: Name: Aditi 'Ada' Bose Birth details: 23.12.98 (16 when novel starts - it's set in the near future) born in Solihull, West Midlands Residence: Raised and resides in Chartham, Kent, UK Family history: Born to Bengali Indian parents; her father is a retired politician from Kolkata, her mother a village girl from West Bengal. Her father now works for a bank, and her mother is a housewife. Ada has witnessed her father beating her mother often. She has two younger sisters, and the rest of her family live in India. Personality traits: Finds it very hard to trust people (because of her father), sarcastic, aggressive, intelligent, lonely. Once in the company of trusted friends she opens up and seems bubbly and loud. She is also fiercely loyal. She is extremely paranoid that she or her family will be killed or imprisoned because they are living in a society where immigrants are scapegoats for the country's economic disaster. Appearance: Tall, big boned and broad shouldered, never quite got rid of her 'puppy fat'. She has dark brown skin, deep set black eyes and thick black eyebrows. She has thick black hair which she has cut into a crop and has dyed the ends red. Her nose is pierced and she likes to wear relatively 'normal' clothes which don't make her stand out too much - jeans, t-shirts etc. How does she sound? A bit too weird? more

Resolved Question: How come people don't believe that I'm Hispanic?

Seriously, It is so annoying. Whenever I am talking to a new friend and they say, 'Oh i'm from india, china, Arabia, Israel, etc.", I say, "Oh, I'm Colombian" Then they just look confused, some even think I'm joking at first. It's just that my physical features are very American. I have freckles, light brown hair, very light skin, etc. My name also throws a lot of people off. Matt is actually short for Matteo, not Matthew, which is common in Spanish-speaking countries. Johnston comes from my great-great grandfather, the only Brit in an otherwise Latino family (Just look at the other surnames: Sanchez, Hoyos, Patiño, Vargas, Velasquez, etc.). Also, this I actually find insulting, people say I don't act Latino. They say I'm so smart, strict, responsible, never smoked and drink very little, wealthy, successful, studious, and a hypochondria. I get very angry when they say that! Not all Hispanics are like on television, those heart-breaker druggie plumbers! Seriously, why are these stereotypes there? My father was an unbelievably wealthy orthodontist, so was his father! while my mother was only a housewife, she studied Business and Economics. And my other grandfather was the CEO of his own business (Now retired). Why are these stereotypes there?!I'm not mad that they don't believe me. i agree with ღ Dream a little bigger, ∂αяℓιηg that it's revolting how they portray us. And by American features I mean that I look very American. more

Resolved Question: Can someone please interpret this weird dream I had yesterday?

Well, a lot of things happened, and the scenes kept shifting to something else, but I was in all the scenes, of course. The people just kept changing. I don't remember how exactly I ended up there, but...Well, I was in school or university. It looked like the last day. Everyone was moving around. My childhood friend told me that he's leaving for India and will be back in two (or one?) months' time. I saw him moving a trolley (the trolleys you use at the airport for carrying luggage), and the place suddenly looked like an airport. We didn't shake hands or anything...I just said bye and we moved on. Now, I don't remember if this happened before the above scene or after it, but my sister started threatening me, telling me that she would tell everyone, especially Dad, about that email and get me married soon (not to the recipient of the letter, though). I had written an email to a female employee in some place (maybe the same school/university/airport?), but I had talked about erotic stuff - sex positions and stuff, and whether she enjoyed having sex with her husband. The whole letter was not about sex, just a small part of it. My sister read that email... somehow. And she found me talking over the phone with someone, I think. In real life, I'm not really interested in sex, and I find it somewhat disgusting. In the next scene, it suddenly started raining heavily, and I was trying to get wet and splash about in the muddy pools the rain had brought, but I was scared. I thought that my Dad would catch me, so I didn't really get wet or jump into any pool. I was also thinking about my sister and what she had told me. I was cursing her as I walked, seeking shelter from the rain, or probably walking to find a better muddy pool, as the next scene indicates. I finally found a better mud pool ('lake', actually) behind the school. There were rocks around this lake. I stepped on one, and was about to plunge into the 'lake'. I think that it stopped raining now. I told my friend (not sure if it was the same friend who left for India) that I'm going to jump into the lake. But suddenly it turns green, and the word 'putrid' comes to mind (I think...) and a crocodile jumped into the lake from the other end. Suddenly, four or five more crocodiles jumped in behind him, and more followed. I got dead scared. Suddenly, a troop of about 10 gorillas were walking along the periphery of the large lake, coming towards us. All of us disperse, running like crazy to save our lives. We get inside the building, but it's huge and most of its doors are locked. There is no way out. We try a lot, but none of the doors open. But we get out somehow, but now there's another problem. The main gate is locked. A boy tries to open the gate, but realises that it's locked. Climbing over is not an option because the crocodiles and gorillas are right behind us. There are too many of us, and some of us would definitely be killed. The boy tells us that there's no way out. It also seems as if they're surrounding us from all sides. Maybe they're coming from the other side of the gate, too... I don't know why nobody could see the small key inside the lock, so I run, climb the steps, turn the key and open the lock. I open the gate, and run for my life, asking everyone else to follow me. And everyone runs away in different directions... I don't know what I saw after this or if I woke up. more

Resolved Question: how to find your natural talent?

I'm 23 and doing my bachelors in computer science in india. The course will complete one year from now. I chose the field because it pays well. Now I'm not sure if I am going to love to do it for the rest of my life. People always say you should "do what you love to do, money will follow". But how far is it true and how many rich people really follow their heart? When I see so many successful engineers, I think to myself 'do all these people really love to code?'. Not that I cannot do coding. I'm capable of it. But I am not sure if I will love to do it. How many people really "love" their jobs as doctors or lawyers? Am I thinking too much? Should I just go ahead and do the safe thing that pays? Also, I'm not sure of what my natural talents are. There were many things that I liked as a child but its hard for me to pin it to one thing. How do I go about this problem? Thanks for your time, looking forward to your answer. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this conversation I had with a priest?

I'm guessing these aren't the typical answers you get from a preist. Maybe that varies on the culture he was raised in though. It was like a mix of an interview and a search for intuition. So the conversation pretty much went like this... Me: ''Do you believe in God?'' Priest: ''I'd like to. But I don't have certainty. No one really can. They can believe but it doesn't mean they'll know.'' Me: ''Aren't priests supposed to definitively believe in God if they became priests?'' Priest: ''Ideally. We're not cattle though. The human mind is open to all thoughts and each priest is their own person.'' Me: ''Have you always felt like this?'' Priest: ''I'd say so.'' Me: ''Why do you continue to be a priest then?'' Priest: ''To help people.'' Me: ''Wouldn't you be telling things you don't believe?'' Priest: ''Catholic churches act more traditionally then religiously.People can read that from the Bible themselves. My words aren't going significantly change their perspectives. I continue to do my job to help people. It isn't about the exact sermon you deliver. It is about helping people outside the church. It is a duty of mine to help orphanages, guide people who are struggling and to help educate.'' Me: ''You don't need to necessarily be a priest to do all those things though.'' Priest: ''That is true. I do not think of myself as ''a priest'' though. I think of myself as me. It just happens the social stratification out our society has lead me to the position I am today. Perhaps if I were from India, I'd be a monk.'' Me: ''So if died and found out God didn't exist, how would you feel?'' Priest: ''If my soul still had the acknowledgement to know that after I died, then it'd mean that God or a force exist. Otherwise, I wouldn't ever have the chance to know. Me: ''Do you do your good works as an act of God thinking that it may be best to do what God would want.'' Priest: ''It is hard to know exactly what God would want though. How is one to read the Bible? And are there not things in it that wouldn't seem genuine to our comprehension? We act in accordance to a human perception of what we want God to be. This perception is usually the same thing we know is the right thing to do.''Yeah, it is a real priest. I asked him if he expressed his views to other priests. He said somewhat, but in bits. He is originally from Brazil but lives in the US now. He is in his late-40s. I also asked him if he thought women should have the right to become priests and he said ''Why shouldn't they.'' He just expressed fear that there still may be too many discriminative people that'd compromise the attention of helping people.I also asked him why the church would allow him to keep being a priest if he had these feelings. He said because there is a shortage of priest and it is too political to boot someone in the gray territory. more

Resolved Question: How effective is foreign aid and should it continue?

'Austerity Britain' is looming ahead of us, and so I was surprised to see, at a time when the government must save every penny it's got and is cutting everything that holds still long enough, that we have given Ten Million pounds in aid to Pakistan, a country whose people burn effigies of our prime minister and whose government arrogantly talk of 'excusing' David Cameron for trying to befriend India. Once the red mist of rage had passed away, however, I wondered if this princely donation - which could do great things within Britain - would make a jot of difference when so much aid from developed countries to less developed nations goes to waste. It is well known that aid money is often absorbed by a corrupted Kleptocracy, millitary organizations or other such individuals who have a vested interest in poverty, since without it they wouldn't receive all that lovely money. What's more, large-scale distribution of aid inevitably wastes a lot of money through the massive administrative costs involved. I myself have been to places where the virtues of foreign aid seem dubious. In the Dheheish refugee camp in Palestine, for instance, the community is entirely funded by foreign aid. Many people don't bother to find work because they know that their basic needs are supported by foreign aid regardless of what they do. However, a Tibetan refugee camp I was visited were entirely self-sufficient, earninga living through sewing, making handicrafts and doing work on the himalayan tea estates - if they can be self-sufficient, surely everyone else can at least give it a go? Furthermore, in parts of Cuba, hurricane damage is covered by foreign aid from developed countries, yet surely this is a task that the Cuban government are more than capable of rising to? Charity is a very labour-intensive virtue, and sometimes it seems to me as though foreign aid merely throws lots of cash at a problem which could be solved through initiative rather than money. Yet at the end of the day, I am but an ignorant burk, and so I throw this question to the wider masses - any information and opinions you can chuck at this question would be most welcome. more

Voting Question: How come my american friends likes to play this game where they guess how long other culture marriages last?

So I was hanging out with my friends yesterday before we go back to college in a few weeks and they like to play this game of guessing how long someone's marriage is going to last. They said my marriage is only going to last for 2 years because my mother picked my wife where as in the american culture where they pick their own wife. I've told them they should stop picking on me because i can't find a girl on my own because that is not nice. They called me a big sissy. They said my marriage won't last because it's not based on love, they said it's based on slavery. They bet me $100 bucks that Chelsea Clinton's marriage is going to last longer than my future marriage. I got up walked away. How come my friends likes to play this with me ?? It really hurts when they do stuff like this to me. They aren't even happy for me that I have a potential girl or a wife, friends are supposed to be happy for you. They not only did this with me but with others like India and Pakistan peoples too. more

Resolved Question: Can milk whiten your skin?

I know that this question may have been asked before, but i have tried so many whitening products and home remedies, but i have just recently found out about milk. It's told that milk is a natural whitener, but i just want to hear from someone who has maybe tried it, and also know how long it would take. And please, i know that many of you will be saying be proud of your skin, but i am filipino, and in my culture, many of us love white skin. Telling me to keep my brown skin is like telling fair-skinned people to not tan. Whitening of the skin and tanning are the same thing. It's changing the color of your skin. It's just that people who want a tan only have it easier. In most countries around the world, people want fair skin, like India and the Philippines. So i'm just asking to please don't criticize me. I'm just like many other people. And i know that many people out there would agree with me too. I'm just sticking up for my culture where most, not all, but most filipinos want fair skin. And i would love to get some advise on how to get fair skin. Thank You.Look, i didn't mean that whitening and tanning are the same thing, literally. I really hope someone gets it. What i mean is they are the same by both changing the color of your skin. And by tanning, i mean tanning beds. Not being tanned normally by the sun, but actually going to a tanning salon tan to tan voluntaringly. I hope someone gets it. And yea, everyone in the Philippines and here told me to use papaya scrub and it's adviced in many sites, but the thing is i don't have any money for that, so i just need some home remedies D; And i think milk should work cuz actresses in the Philippines say they would sit in a bath tub full of milk, and also Cleopatra would do that. Resolved Question: Why do American companies insist that American consumers "Buy American"?

When many American companies outsource work out of the country? You can whine all you want about not buying products made in China. Guess where a considerable chunk of your retirement savings are being invested by your employer? I have friends who work in customer service who train workers who come in to the US for training for jobs in India, China, Vietnam. How many people have bought a supposedly American made product only to find themselves talking to someone from India if they need to call customer service? What is deeply disturbing to me is the vested interests of Bechtel and other American companies where the so called War in Iraq has been on going. Tanks of the US military tear down one building while contractors from American companies build another building to replace it. American corporate interest in the Middle East has been escalating since World War Two. Part of it is American investments in OPEC and foreign oil. Part of it is the American exploitation of labor in these parts. I think that American companies really need to put their money where their mouth is. If they insist that American consumers should buy American products to protect American jobs, they need to stop outsourcing jobs to foreign countries. If I am told to buy an American car, I want to be able to speak to an American on American soil if I want customer support. It is a sham and a disgrace that companies like Bechtel are rebuilding Iraq while they refuse to repair the work they have done in Boston where chunks of steel and concrete fall daily on the heads of drivers under the failed Big Dig project. If an American company wants consumers to buy American products, why don't they sell products that are made in America? Just because I buy a Dell Computer, or a Ford SUV, doesn't mean that product was made in the USA. The plastic and steel come from China. The parts are manufactured in Mexico. If you have a problem you have to call India or Mexico for customer support. By the way, this is my day off. I am just wondering how many of you corporate types are sitting around trolling the Internet giving me a smart answer as to how I am wrong. When I call you, I want to talk to you not some person in Mexico or India. more

Resolved Question: If you are married, are you in love?

This is for the people who are dating, married, or just in love with someone.. Did you think that you will never find love, but one day, you did? How did you realize you were in love? I'm a 16 year old guy and I just feel so lonely..I have no friends, I have social anxiety, I feel so scared that I will die alone, because my culture believes in arranged marriages but I don't. The views I have formed because of my life in the US won't let an arranged marriage work for me. It just seems so..loveless. I have seen it, the union is more because of the bonds formed. In india, like everyone knows each other some way, they always find a way to connect. Like, "oh, my brother-in-law is from Surat or Mumbai" or whatever. more

Resolved Question: Why do Indians pride themselves on being able to speak English?

I've met several Indians who seem proud of the fact that India has the world's largest English speaking population (I don't know if it's true but they claim as such). I find it odd as Britain has colonised it in the past so shouldn't they feel otherwise? I understand that English is extremely extremely useful in today's international settings but shouldn't it be treated like just a tool of communication rather than something to be proud of? I don't see the Americans going around telling people how proud they are that they have many people learning French there. It's mind-boggling. more
