Open Question: gaming console what do you like better ps3 or xbox 360?
Overview of the Playstation 3 - What's So Amazing? The big deal with the Playstation 3 is that it sports Sony's new Cell Processor that was jointly developed by IBM, Sony Group and Toshiba Corporation. It also features a new graphics processor (RSX) co-developed by NVIDIA Corporation and SCEI, and XDR memory developed by Rambus Inc. To really rub it in, it also adopts BD-ROM (Blu-ray Disc ROM) with maximum storage capacity of 54 GB (dual layer), enabling delivery of entertainment content in full high-definition (HD) quality, under a secure environment made possible through the most advanced copyright protection technology. To match the accelerating convergence of digital consumer electronics and computer technology, PS3 announced support for high quality display in resolution of 1080p in addition to 720p/1080i. The computational power of the system itself sports the equivalent of 2 teraflops, meaning that entirely new graphical expressions that have never been seen before will become possible. In games, not only will movement of characters and objects be far more refined and realistic, but landscapes and virtual worlds can also be rendered in real-time, thereby elevating the freedom of graphics expression to levels not experienced in the past. Gamers will literally be able to dive into the realistic world seen in large screen movies and experience the excitement in real-time. If you saw the E3 video - real time game engines now look about as good as the Final Fantasy movie. Overview of the Xbox 360 - First to Market and Media Center Dominance? While the Playstation 2 had a much beter presentation, giving consumers a really in-depth look at the software and hardware behind the name, Xbox chose instead to utilize the MTV venue for making its big announcement. Details were scarce and game footage, scarcer, but the Xbox 360 didn't fail to impress those who managed to weed through the marketing hype and glean some interesting facts from the presentation. Microsoft is positioning the Xbox 360 console as the center of a digital connected home - providing much more than just game play. The way they are talking about it, it almost seems like it could even supplanting the Media Center PC. Powered by a custom-made IBM PowerPC-based three-core chip running at 3.2GHz, and supported by 512MB of GDDR3 RAM, the new Xbox has the raw processing power to deliver more than all but the most hot-rodded PCs can today. Video and graphics performance is powered by a new ATI GPU running at 500MHz, with 10MB of embedded DRAM. The Xbox 360 will ship with a 12X dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, no announcements for HD-DVD or Blu-ray Disc integration has been inferred or announced. In addition it has three USB 2.0 ports, two memory unit slots (unspecified), and support for four wireless game controllers (unspecified whether Bluetooth or IEEE 802.11g). It supports progressive-scan DVD movies and nearly all DVD and CD formats with the notable exception of DVD-Audio and SACD. Users will be able to use the Xbox 360 as a "home base" for their digital media files and can rip MP3s to and from portable media devices or Windows XP PCs, as well as rip music to the Xbox's detachable (and upgradable) 20GB hard drive. For networking, the Xbox 360 includes a built-in ethernet port and support for 802.11a, b, and g flavors of Wi-Fi. If Microsoft can position the Xbox 360 as a great gaming machine as well as an effective Media Center it may be on to something big. Lets compare the two platforms below, paying attention to GPU and CPU specs as well as format and connectivity options and support. The area my husband and I want to live in is a little expensive for us, considering we don't want to live in town and want at LEAST 1/2 an acre with our own custom built house. If we moved to another state we could buy a house MUCH cheaper, but we don't want to live there forever. So I was thinking that a good idea would be for us to buy a house in the state we can afford, and a piece of land in the state we want to live in. Then we can pay them both off in less than 10 years, sell the house and use that money to build on the land. Is their a hidden problem with this? Paying a mortgage on both properties would be cheaper than paying one mortgage on a decent house in the area we want to be.Well we have to plan for something! We can't just live at my mother in laws for the next nine years! moreVoting Question: Can this computer handle an HD PVR?

The Lady came home from her travels afar, to find the remnants of her fine-spun home in tatters and tangles. Had there been a war? Was this the damage of an ogre or gnome? She hung from a thread as she studied the ruin, knowing this scene of the crime had a clue in... There! In what used to be her dining nook, a single hair that she knew to be human, she dangled above the specimen for a closer look; it was a female, prime of age- now the Lady was FUMING! When you walk out in the woods, please take care not destroy spiderwebs with your silly hair. Now, distressed and quite tired; angry, as well, leaving her custom-built home where it fell, The hard working mother of five hundred and three began spinning, energized by plotting vengeance on BG. All this sovereign Lady wanted to catch was a bug, then along come a human- who carries on, with a shrug! moreResolved Question: how likely is Bank of America to seek a deficiency judgment on a foreclosure of investment property?
We own a vacant lot we intended to build on, that we bought at the height of the market a few years ago, and now it's worth about 1/3 of what we owe on it. We can't get a loan to build on it, because there is so much negative equity in the property, and we can't sell it, because we'd have to bring $80-k to closing at today's prices. It's financed by Bank of America. If we make a business decision to walk away from this property and let the bank foreclose on it, what is the likelihood that they will seek a deficiency judgment? We live in SC, where dj's are allowed... I've heard that dj's are more likely on investment properties than on primary homes, and that each bank has it's own customs and practices. Help?By the way, I fully understand what a foreclosure will do to my credit. My main concern is - if I take this step and wreck my credit, I don't want it to all be for nothing, if the bank comes after me anyway for a deficiency judgment. moreVoting Question: how can i get a windows XP recovery disk if my custom built computer did not come with 1?

How does a person who plans on living alone in a new house find a house that isn't too big but still has plenty of visual appeal and some classy amenities? For example, granite countertops, cherry wood cabinets, walk-in closets, large garage, "rock wall" design around the base exterior of the home, etc...... these things could easily be built into an 1,100-sq-foot home, but it is definitely not done so frequently, at least not that I've been able to find. I do not need a 2,000-sq-foot home, but apparently that is what you have to buy in order to get such features. And I know that people can have custom homes built, but I'm concerned that it would be a hassle. I'd rather not have the expense of the extra unnecessary square footage, i.e., purchasing it, heating it, insuring it, etc. Any recommendations or information/experience to share? moreResolved Question: This Alienware Aurora or this custom built computer?

I obtained a disk from a vendor on ebay to install Ubuntu 9.10 on my PC. When I boot to the CD, it gives me choices on how I want to do an install. Whenever I make my choice, there's about a 15 second pause then the screen goes blank except for a blinking cursor in the upper left hand part of the screen. That's it...then it does nothing. Just stalls at that point. I've tried all the install choices but get the same result. I have even downloaded the iso file from a Linux site (for Ubuntu), used a disk burn program (CDBurnerXP) that you can use to burn iso files to disk and tried to use that disk to install the OS. It did get me just a little bit farther. When I chose the install option, it paused for about 15 seconds then went to a screen with a segmented circle and three dots. This symbol was kind of pulsating going from bright to dim as though something might be happening. Not so. This lasted for about a minute, the symbol quit pulsating and everything stalled again. I'm getting kind of frustrated now. There must be something I have overlooked or maybe it's just not compatible with my hardware. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition 32 bit on my PC. My PC is a custom built with an ASUS P7P55-M motherboard 1333 fsb, 4Gb of DDR3 system memory, an Intel i5 750 socket 1156 processor, SATA 2.0 (3 Gb/s) HDD, an EVGA GeForce GT 220 PCI-e 2.0 x16 graphics card and a 450 watt power supply. And I'm using your every day garden variety optical disk drives. (CD-Rom, CD-RW) I'm very new to Linux and don't know much about it yet but I do know that "free" sure beats the heck out of $100+ for a single use/single install Microsoft Windows operating system. I've tried different tutorials that I've found from online searches, but they all pretty much say the same thing. Can anyone provide a little bit of experienced help for me so I can get this OS installed? If I can get this going, Microsoft Windows is going in the trash can. I am having a home custom built, and it will be done by mid-June. All of the websites I could find have something like this as the description for building: "a principal residence that is constructed by the home owner is treated by the tax code as having been 'purchased' on the date the owner first occupies the house. In this situation, the date of first occupancy must be after November 6, 2009 and on or before April 30, 2010 (or by June 30, 2010, provided a binding sales contract was in force by April 30, 2010)." So my real question is, what is considered a "binding sales contract" when it comes to building? I signed a contract with the builder at the end of January, I signed a contract for the construction loan at the end of February, but the actual mortgage won't go into affect until the house is done, and I have moved in, in mid-June. moreVoting Question: Laptop wont work on wifi?

I was just wondering, is there any kind of website I can go to & download Windows XP (preferably the home edition) for FREE, and would it be legal? I currently have a custom built computer that some friends of mine who are very computer savvy (and just graduated college for this kind of stuff) built for me. I was on Windows XP Home Edition. I don't have my own copy of it. They have a copy they were able to use on my computer when they built it, but they currently can't find their disc. About 2-3 weeks ago, my computer glitched and was acting horrible. They accidentally misplaced their disc, so couldn't reformat my hard drive. So, for now as a quick fix, thinking I could handle it, they just upgraded me to Ubuntu Linux. I have to say, from what I'm seeing of it, and getting to use, I really do like it. It seems so cool. But, there is just too much on here that I am having a hard time with and just can not get used to. I really miss being on Windows. And, there are some things I need to do and can't do on Linux, and I need Windows for it. I know there is a program called Wine that you can get for Linux and it allows you to do some Windows things. I do have Wine. But, I have no idea how to use it. I tried, and can't figure it out. I really wanna be back on Windows. I would just buy a copy, but I am unfortunately completely broke, I literally have no money at the moment. So, does anyone know, if there is anywhere at all that I can safely and legally download Windows XP from anywhere? I did hear from someone that sometimes there are places where you can download it, or that sometimes you can call the company and request a copy or something along those lines. Anyone have a good answer/advice for me? Please, honest and thoughtful answers only. I'm not very computer savvy in a lot of ways, I just need some help. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Help with building a PC?
Just as note, I will not be building the PC myself in terms of putting it together, but I will be getting one custom made, and needed help with the 'build.' I will also be getting this made this holiday season, not immediately so will be getting the one of the new nVidia DX11 cards (GTX 470/480 I think). Is this a good build? This is the build I was thinking of (I'm buying from NCIX, and my price limit is $2000): -Intel i7 920 -eVGA X58 LE Motherboard (with SLi support) -Coolmaster Storm Sniper Case -Corsair TX750W Power Supply Unit -Corsair H50 High Performance CPU Cooling System -Corsair XMS3 DDR3 SDRAM (1333MHz) -eVGA nVidia GTX 470 (about $500 price range)...(I selected 2 GTX 260s on their PC builder which added up to $500 to get the final price) -Windows 7 Home Premium x64 -Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD (7200RPM) Total ^^^^^^ $2021 before taxes (assembly is free over $2000) What do you think?I already have a screen, and I will probably hooking this up with my HDTV anyways.Sorry - its 6GB of RAM.Things like the PSU are of course totally adjustable - I'm not going to not buy a PC because I didn't want to upgrade to a more powerful PSU that would take me $5 over my price limit. I have never done this before. I even made another email account so my husband wouldn't find out that I am reaching out. I cannot reach out to him. I have tried. I have tried to tell my husband how I feel but it gets turned into me, the one with the problem, there is something wrong with me. I tell him how he makes me feel and he will tell me no i dont do that and if you feel that way it is because of you. Maybe he is right. I have even used Dr phils terms....me, i feel...and avoided saying you this and you that. I am a stay at home mom of three boys 6, 3, 14mo. My six yr old is in school. I am home with 2. We have been married for over seven yrs. My problem is that i feel totally trapped in my house and in life, used, exhausted, overwhelmed, unfocused, tired, ugly, hated, worthless, helpless, hopeless. I dont know what to do. I cannot go anywhere by myself, for time to my self, even when my husband is home i cannot leave without taking at least one child. or it is an argument... I have gone out but when I do I come home to a pissed off husband(pissed off i guess cause the kids are acting like kids) my reprieve it immediately over the minute i walk in, as if i never had a break. I will never hear my husband say go sit down, take a load off, you look tired can i help with somehting.,,,is there anything i can do! I take that back...he would say that to anyone but me! And oh my god when i am sick he acts like it is not that big of a deal, i am probably faking it anyway. When i am sick he is more of a jerk cause he knows that i am wanting him to help out. When i am sick he is on me...did you take care of this today...did you do this...etc... My husband is a carpenter and remodels mostly baths and kitchens but can do it all. He does work hard to support our family. I show him in many many ways that i appreciate him and how hard he works. But i need that too. I need to be valued. I feel helpless. I try to explain how i feel. The fact that i am at home with no adult interaction taking care of everything and everyone and no one there telling me what a great job i am doing. I cannot expect that from my kids...they are kids. I know my husband is not responsible for my happiness but he affects it. He has a boss, customers and paycheck validating what he does everyday. He comes home and says 'oh mr and mrs so and so loved there new kitchen and custom tile i just did, they thought it was great and that i did a good job'....and keeps on and on about it...he will tell everyone he knows so he can boost his ego .......then he has me listening to him confirming that for him. When I paint a room, put up a shelf, re-arrange, organize, beautify, clean, cook an awesome meal etc..if i do anything and hope for some pat on the back or atta girl or that looks great. i dont get it. i get, well it looks like a painted wall, what do you want me to say or why did you do that or nothing at all. What I am looking for is ....you did a great job, good idea, that looks good..some sort of validation...anything. I feel more like the hired help, the assistant even his child at times. after telling my husband, during and argument, that i need a break...he told me i dont get a break unless i drop the kids off somewhere. He denies saying that to this day. I feel everyone around him gets the best of him and then when it comes to me and our family there is nothing left and we have to deal with that cause he works "for us". He works approx 7-4p.... sometimes more. He would say he works harder than anyone cause of "what he does"... We live in an older house that needs work and tending to. Shouldn't be a big deal...that is what he does for a living. He always wants to do the cheap fix, what works not what is the best. You know what they say about a carpenters wife...while he is building mansions the carpenters wife lives in a shack...or something like that. When i ask questions about things i dont know about(house stuff) he almost bites my head off and has this certain tone of voice as if i knew the answer and what a stupid question. I know he doesn't talk to his customers like that when they ask questions. When he talks to other people, boss(female boss), his brothers, dad, his friends ...I cannot help but to be jealous...he talks to them with total respect doesn't down them. For example...my husband and i were talking about a certain subject(i cannot remember) and when i voiced my opinion or my side he totally blew up... it of course turned into an argument..i was this and that....so the next day his brother was over and the same subject came up and his brother said exactly what i said, made the same points that i did...and my husband tells his brother oh you might be right, or you have a point i never thought of that. he has respect for his brother.....what about me. He has little patience. He comes home sometimes and with in the first 10-20 min he is yelling at the kids telling th moreResolved Question: what is the highest amount of ram one can buy for a HOME business base computer ?

We have a custom-built desktop computer at home. Me and my brother bought the parts and assembled the computer last December 2008. It's a little more than one year as of now. We use it to play games, listen to music, watch movies, download stuff, surf the Web, and schoolwork. Just a while ago, while I was just casually surfing the Web, the computer exploded. It was like a flashlight's light bulb exploding. When it exploded, the monitor won't turn on, and I opened the computer's case and the insides smelled funny. I replug it and the lights and fans work, but the monitor won't turn on. I'm quite a noob at computer hardware and I do not know what caused this, but I know that my brother has been overclocking our graphics card (a 512MB DDR2 nVidia 9500GT) for several months. Hello, all. I am in need of assistance in getting started on building my home studio. Of course, as you all most likely know, taking on such a task is much easier said than done, which is why I seek advice from you all. As far as my equipment goes, consider me a blank slate. I have a budget of around $5000-7000, and I would prefer a Windows setup. I was thinking something along the lines of a desktop with anywhere from 4-8 gigs of ram? I have a 1 TB external hard drive I received as a Christmas gift, so storage certainly won't be an obstacle. As for the type of music I plan to make, I will most likely need a studio made for overall/general use. I plan to do hip-hop based records, but I may choose to incorporate live elements at times (perhaps a very, very small choir or a quartet, scenarios wherein I'll need to record either vocals or instruments). Of course I plan on layering any live instrumentation I record as opposed to having them all recorded at the same time (which, if memory serves, would have an impact on the number of mic in/outs I would need on my interface). Though I have no equipment at the moment, the one piece I certainly plan on purchasing at is an MPC-1000. .: With regard to software, I am wide-open and willing to take in any recommendations you all are willing to offer. I won't be needing anything overly expensive, as it probably has plenty of features I'll never touch. Also, I would like to operate on Firewire if at all possible, but I know that because I am using a Windows setup (probably Windows 7 if I purchase a new desktop. Custom-built?) I face the possibility of compatibility issues. Any reliable, cross-platform audio I/O's out there? 24/96k? Thanks in advance, guys. I really appreciate the help! moreResolved Question: The Application has crashed. The Application will now terminate. (The Sims 2)?
I keep getting this message right when The Sims 2 is at the loading screen. I first got this message last night after buying my teenager a cell phone. I have a feeling BoolProp is coming back to haunt me. One time, I accidentally pressed "give cell phone" when I didn't have University installed awhile back. Would this have anything to do with it? And if so, do I have to re-install The Sims 2? (If so, how do I backup all my Custom Content?) After it crashed the first time since I installed it, I then restarted the game, and even got to the Create-A-Family, but as I clicked on the "Already Made Sims" it crashed. Now it won't even start to go to the neighbourhood without crashing. I have tried moving the downloads folder to the Desktop and deleting "ContentRegistry" and "Groups.cache" But it didn't work, so its not anything I downloaded doing the problem.. At least I think. Thanks. ♥ :) Computer Specs: Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Basic (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. I have an adult male CWD & he has outgrown his tank. Buying a reptile tank for his size would be very expensive, so I thought it might be cheaper for me to make him a tank myself. I know the proper size requirements for him, I just don't know how to build a reptile tank. I've never constructed anything before. I'm sure I can get the supplies at Home Depot...I just need the steps in making an enclosure? moreVoting Question: How much would you pay for this Gaming Beast?

I have some components at home, in an existing (small form factor hp business pc) which i will be re-using, and some which I will be buying. Buying: Casecom MA-1199 mATX case - no psu (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/160915) Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mATX mobo (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152225) Akasa AK-956SF Socket 775 Heatsink + Fan (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/115662) - 3 pin Arctic Power 500W ATX PSU (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/124922) Already Own: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Assuming heatsink + fan comes with thermal paste, will attempt to clean off old residue) SATA HDD SATA Disk Drive/IDE Disk Drive(s) (RW/ROM etc.) XFX 8600gt XXX 256mb DDR3 BenQ G2420hd FULL HD monitor. 2GB DDR2 RAM (Cant remember spec, it is on crucial though!!) My concerns: - The power supply, is it sufficient? Reviews are mixed, im sure it WILL fit correctly inside the case, however will cable length be an issue with this mATX config? (I have checked on ebuyer forums etc. this case supports standard ATX psu's. - Thermal Paste, I currently have no removing gear/tools, and i am assuming the new heatsink and fan come with an adequate thermal paste, pre-greased. I plan to simply remove cpu from existing computer, (hopefully not have to clean!) and then put on heatsink and fan. (Plug and Play) - Will my existing RAM work correctly with the new motherboard? (My pc is hp dc7900s business pc) THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!! moreResolved Question: What is the maximum amount of land a citizen should be allowed to own if he isn't farming to produce food?
In the future, citizens won't own cars. They will have to live in organized communities close to where they work and shop, etc. To facilitate this, there will have to be limits on the transfer of privately owned real estate, and restraint on the amount of land each home may sit on so as to make room for everyone close to industry, shopping, government etc. The government will have to regulkate and dictate home sizes lot sizes etc. Agricultural communities can be seperate and allow licensed contracted farmers to own as much land as the need. I envision the organized communities as being mostly government built houses of approved style and design with certain neighborhoods set aside for custom homes. What should the lot sizes be to fit everyone in comfortably and yet conserve land? What is the maximum house size that a typical family would need? Any input, thanx. : ) moreResolved Question: A good name for a custom computer company?
