Open Question: Questions about Bearded Dragon housing and enclosures?

We have an enclosure that we had custom built for a previous reptile. The enclosure size is 3.5' ft tall x 2' ft wide x 5' ft long. I was thinking of owning a Bearded Dragon. Is the size enclosure I mentioned OK for an adult Bearded Dragon? I already have a smaller, 3'ft x 1'ft x 2'ft tank, would that be good for a young beardie? Also, if the custom built enclosure is OK for a Bearded Dragon, is it safe to have 2 together? Can 2 beardies be housed together? Would they fight even if their home has adequate space? Please let me know, thanks. more

Open Question: Sims 3 Custom Content Problem?

I have put all my custom content into the downloads folder and installed it from the Sims 3 Launcher and it all installed successfully then I started the game and only a few bits of custom content was there but I also noticed that the custom content that was not working said they were objects and the custom content that was working was build or buy objects. By the way I am trying to build my own Cinema so these are the links to the stuff i downloaded: http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims3-sets-objects-miscellaneous/title/Cafe%20Break%20Set/id/963692 http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims3-sets-objects-miscellaneous/title/movie-theater-set/id/955872 http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims3-sets-objects-livingroom/title/home-theater-set/id/952737 more

Hi, I'm trying to buy a computer for occasional gaming. My budget is limited so I'm trying to get a custom built one. These four computers were the ones that matched my budget. Resolved Question: I didn't tell my employer about a physical disability... What should I do now?

I was recently hired at a local gas station/convenience store (United Dairy Farmers). Recent as in like three days ago. I had been looking for a job close to home for about four months with no luck because I don't have a car or license, and needed a job within walking distance. So when I went for the interview, I was so anxious about getting the job that I wasn't thinking about physical issues that might come up, and neglected to mention a very large factor in my ability as an employee: I have an extremely severe case of overpronation in my ankles, and by association, an equally severe case of plantar fasciitis - which is basically when the tendons in your feet get so tight and inflamed that the pain can become unbearable when you're on your feet too long. I have custom orthotics to help with the problem, but they certainly don't eliminate the pain. I have also received shots in my feet to reduce inflammation, and have had recommendations suggesting reconstructive surgery to "build" a proper arch in my feet. So as you can clearly see, my condition is very, VERY severe, and I'm only 19. The past jobs I've worked at knew about my foot condition beforehand and accommodated me - they would only schedule me for 5~6 hour shifts so that I was only working long enough to start feeling pain, but not long enough to where it would become agonizing. Also at these jobs, they understood that sometimes I would need to rest my feet every couple of hours for 10 or 15 minutes just to let the tendons relax so the pain would lessen. Now, I've just started work at this gas station, but I neglected to tell the store manager that I had this issue. He has no idea. I only mentioned that I had "feet problems" after an assistant manager had been talking about back problems and asked me if I had any. They don't understand how severe the problem is, and because I never told them about it, they've scheduled me for eight hour shifts in which I CANNOT sit down... which is a major issue. After 6 hours of constant standing and moving around, the pain is near crippling. I can't even begin to imagine what eight hours will feel like. And I still have to walk home afterward. I have my first eight hour shift tomorrow and I don't know what to do. I know that the pain will be approaching a level of agony by the time the sixth hour rolls around - maybe even BEFORE then! - but I don't want to lose my job. I spent FOUR months looking for one! But I know that staying on my feet too long like this will only make my condition worse, and I'm afraid that I'll end up severely injuring myself on the job, like rolling my ankle and tearing a ligament (I have done this before just walking down the street). Should I tell my manager about my issue tomorrow when I go in? Is there something I can do that will allow me to keep my job, but work hours that I can actually handle? Do I need a note from a doctor saying I can only work a certain number of hours? If I produced such a note, would that be grounds enough to fire me as an "unable" worker?@answerers: I've never mentioned a disability before in a job interview, even for previous jobs. I was hired first and then the topic came up in conversation and they worked with me. I don't understand how I was being dishonest. My manager never asked me if I had a disability, nor did he ask whether or not I was physically able to work long shifts. If he didn't expressly ask for information about my physical condition, how is that being dishonest? It simply wasn't addressed in the actual interview, so it's not like I went and outright lied to his face about it. @second answerer: Thank you for actually answering my question properly. I went back to my orthopedic and she prescribed me an anti-inflammatory to take before work to lessen the swelling and pain, and so far it's working. But it's nice to know that I DO have some rights regarding this issue if the meds don't work out. more

Alright, so I have an account on modthesims2. I have Double Deluxe(Nightlife and Holiday), OFB, and Teen Style Stuff. I have CEP and SimsCleanInstaller. Well, I do just that and it still won't work. I have tried downloading dozens of different things(that comply with the expansions and stuffs packs I have) and I always get that same message. Anyone have any ideas? Please help me!I tried the just moving them thing, but I am still getting the same message. I don't get .packages, I only get the .zip or .rar files.Thank You! more

Resolved Question: Negotiating New Home Construction?

I have been meeting with builders to build a custom home just over 3,000 sq ft. In one of the estimates the builder is charging me 12% for profit and overhead, AND $75,000 for supervision. The $75k seems ridiculously high to me for a construction that they said could be completed in 4 months time. what is the industry standard for these types of fees? more

Resolved Question: Is foreclosure the only way out of a lovely but, very dangerous house?

We left our lovely home only half mile from the Mexico border because of the drug smugglers that were coming through. It became terrifying. We sent letters to the White House asking for help as well as state & local leaders. Nothing! The house is for sale at a low price and it is a custom built, lovely house. Nobody will buy it with all the negative publicity on the border. It is too scary to live there. We can no longer afford the payments on it as we live in another house far from the border. What do we do? Unless some drug cartel wants to buy it to monitor their drugs coming into the US it is unmarketable. We have never been in a situation like this and have credit ratings in the upper 790's. What do we do? HELP! more

Resolved Question: Would this be good for gaming purposes?

I am really bored of console gaming and want to go back to PC gaming for the overall freedom and customization, such as skins, sounds and even custom maps and stuff! I will buy this computer: (Refurb) HP Pavilion w/ Intel Quad Core Processor at 2.5GHz, 7GB of Memory 1TB of Hard Drive space 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 9800 Graphics Card Windows 7 Home Premium Is that good for gaming, like L4D and eventually Black Ops and stuff? more

Resolved Question: What is wrong with my computer?

I have a home network that has around 5 or 6 devices on it. I have a main computer wired to the router and modem that gets around 25 mbps. All of the other devices get 15 mbps which I know is normal. The love of my life, my custom built desktop, suddenly started having hiccups. It struggles to get 1 mbps of internet speed. I have ran spyware and anitvurs scans and came up with nothing. I replaced my usb adapter to see if maybe that helped but it didn't. Could someone please offer some ideas on what could possibly be wrong? thanks more

Resolved Question: We won an acre of land in an auction. Now we want our friend who is a builder to custom build.?

At the beginning of the month my husband and I won an acre of land in a real estateauction. Our good friend owns his own custom home building company. It is a very small co. and only works when they are building ssomeoneshome. They don't build developments, etc. We want him to build our home because he is simply amazing and feel he would take better care of us over some big builder. The problem is, he is having a difficult time getting financing to build the home (turn-key) because it isn't land he owns. The banks keep telling him it is too risky. We need to do turn-key because we are renting our home and cannot afford to pay as we go sort of thing, it needs to be turn-key. How do you go about getting financing to build on a lot you don't own?Our mortgage guy said in the turn key the builder finances the project then we repay him with a loan when the project is complete. Is that incorrect?Thank you for all your responses. My hubsand has been dealing with the mortgage broker, I have had to leave meetings and what not because our 2 year old was misbehaving. I knew it sounded strange, but I thought I just didn't understand it correctly because I didn't sit in the meetings. This is a lot more than I wanted to get involved with. UH! Thanks again! more

Resolved Question: What do you think Sheriff to Feds: Take your illegals out of my jail?

Suffolk Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral is walking away from nearly $54 million in federal immigration dough, saying her jail will no longer house illegal aliens due to the feds’ “staggering lack of communication and respect.” In a blistering letter informing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the decision, a lawyer for Cabral blasted federal officials for forcing the jail to “beg and plead” for basic information. “We have encountered a staggering lack of communication and respect from representatives of your agency,” General Counsel James M. Davin wrote in an Aug. 13 letter. “This is completely unacceptable Among the sheriff’s gripes are ICE’s refusal to provide the jail with copies of audits conducted on their premises, to inform staff of complaints from immigration detainees and to boost the reimbursement rate for detention services. Davin also rips ICE for not providing the jail with its report on the death of detainee Pedro Tavarez, even though local media obtained a copy of the investigation. Tavarez died in October at a local hospital. Davin called the oversight an example of ICE’s “baffling disregard” for Cabral. ICE spokesman Harold Ort declined comment. The jail wants all immigration detainees relocated by Oct. 12. Cabral’s office began housing immigration detainees in Building 8 on the grounds of the House of Correction in 2003. ICE pays $90 daily per immigrant for detention services. Between January 2005 and May 2010, Cabral’s office collected $53.9 million in ICE detention fees, records show. In the current state budget, lawmakers authorized the jail to take in up to $8 million this year in detention fees. During the first five months of 2010, the average daily detainee population was 268 inmates, records show. Attorney Robert S. Sinsheimer, who represents Tavarez’s daughter, Judith, ripped the flap between the feds and the sheriff. “When government agencies are fighting with each other,” he said, “you can be darn sure it’s about ducking and running for cover http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view/20100819sheriff_to_feds_take_your_illegals_out_of_my_jail/srvc=home&position=recent more

Voting Question: Is there such a thing as a custom built computer with in home support?

I'm not talking Dell here because that is a premade system. I'm taking about something like Newegg where you can pick the parts that go into the computer. Right down to blue LED cathodes. I have this place in town, but they don't offer in home support. I was wondering if anyone knew any companies who custom build computers to your specs (eg. Newegg) as well as offer in home support?I also need something that can be serviced, shipped, and supported in Canada. Pretty sure those sites you listed are from the US. more

Resolved Question: A very serious and moral question about asbestos... Please Read!?

I'll try to make this as short as I can. A few months ago, my family found an absolutely beautiful house for sale. It was custom designed by a locally renowned architect and a few celebrities have even lived in his homes. It was in my families price range so my dad put an offer on it. The current owners of the house are currently living somewhere else, but they left copies of the original brochure of the house from the 60's. My dad became curious about the building materials used in the house. The house is a solid block house. He found out the the insulation in Zonolite(?) and with a little research he found out the ugly truth... This Zonolite is pure asbestos! And not just any old asbestos, the worst possible asbestos you can breath in, Very small, and with nasty barbs. When my parents found out, they withdrew the offer immediately, and they told our realtor. She decided to turn the other cheek, at least I'm quite sure she has since it hasn't been mentioned in the disclosure... I have been thinking about this a lot, perhaps too much... And I am feeling a world of weight on my shoulders. My parents had mentioned from time to time on blowing the whistle about the asbestos so other families who are less informed wouldn't be in danger. So far, my parents have failed to do this, and just the other night I mentioned if they were going to say anything. They became irritated and told me I should take care of it. I retaliated saying I'm the child, I shouldn't have to do their dirty work and blah blah blah... They said those were bad excuses and that I am perfectly capable of doing it. However, I think they could care less if I don't.... So the question is, How do I even go about blowing the whistle if I wanted to? If I decide to blow the whistle on the asbestos, I would feel so guilty that not only am I going to make something historically significant an abandoned home, but I could ruin the other family who currently owns it financially! I also know if I don't do anything, the cold hard truth is that if a family with children moves in, my not telling could cause these children to die horrible deaths in their 40's and 50's because one girl failed to do anything! Honestly, I am technically an adult now, but I feel emotionally unprepared to deal with this. It is stressing me out, I have mentioned this to my parents but they get angry and say they have too much to think about to discuss it. I feel it's my duty as a human being to do SOMETHING. I'm just not sure how! I know I will have guilt no matter what I do! I just want to make the right choice as smoothly, and as quietly as possible. I just need a little help on how to do this emotionally, and politically. Thank you so much for reading... PS: I did a little research on the celebs who lived in these homes. A few died of emphyzima... A disease which can commonly be confused with dying from asbestos!!! more

Voting Question: what legal actions do i have for failure to complete in a timely manner?

i drive/drove a 2004 suby impreza WRX 2.0l turbo so.... a few months ago (june) my car had a really bad knock when i accelerated, first assumption was spun bearing, i found a shop one of my buddies was getting his suby worked on locally (Twizted customs)... took it to the guy and he was like okay its gonna be about a grand to take the motor out and put back in- on top of parts costs... so i decided hey while im at lets buy a sti block and use my wrx heads ad just make a hybrid build.. bought the block and brought it to the shop. about a week later the guy said it wouldnt work cause the bottom ends are different and would cost me about 2 grand to make it work... i said okay and sold the engine.. took the crank, block, heads to get cleaned and turned, at the same time this was being done he told me one of my rods were twisted- so i purchased new STI rods (which bare in mind are same spec size) i get the crank and new bearings back and everything cleaned dropped them off and leave for work for few days... i come home and go to the shop to see the status of my car and he hasnt started work on even putting together the block. i asked him whats goin on? he said he will have the block put back together tomorrow... so the following day i get a call he askes me to come to the shop, so i did and he said o well the bearings are the wrong size, so i go back to the shop that got me the bearings and did all the work on the crank and cleaning and he filed them down to fit the crank correctly- drop the bearings off at (twizted customs) and he was like o btw bro you need new cam shafts i looked at them and it looked as if somone took a chunk out of it, needless to say i said okay fine and bought a set of barely used cam shafts from a friend and asked if that was everything? he said ya man thats all i should have your car finished in a few days.. i had to leave for 3 weeks for my job (military) i call him 2 days before coming home and he was like o dude the rods you gave me dont work... and the guys who machined your crank didnt machine it right, so he had to get it remachined-(he waited 3 weeks to tell me this)so i had to drive freaking half way across the state of VA to get a set of WRX rods- so i got the rods and brought it back to the shop (twizted customs) and i asked him okay dude are you absolutly positive that there is nothing else you missed? bare in mind this is (august 3rd) he said i will have your engine in your car and running by (Sat august 7) almost 2 months after it was originally supposed to be finished.) i said okay and if its not what happens? he said ill give you your money back... so i had him write an agreement stating that. that week he moved his shop to a new building and i recieve a call sat evening in hope that my car was up and running and ready to drive... but thats not my luck. he said come down to the new shop i need to talk to you.. so when i get to the shop i see my engine on a stand and i asked wtf is going on? he said dude you have a bent intake valve. instead of me just taking my car out of the shop that very day we made a verbal agreement if i can get him the valve he would finish my car. i called subaru monday morning seeing how they are closed on Sundays when you need parts the most. and no subaru dealership in the great state of VA had a !@$$#@ valve that i needed i had to order one from new jersey and he said it will be there the next day. i get a call the next day in hope my part was there and sure enough he said well.. " the warehouse i ordered from apparently had a computer malfunction and actually doesnt have that part in stock, so he had to order one from indiana.. and it will be in thursday. so i get the part thursday afternoon (August 12th) and drive down to the shop (Twizted customs) and gave him the part. he said it takes about an hour to put in the valve then about a day to put in the engine. so Sat (august 14th) i cant get ahold of this guy on the phone so i drive to the shop and see where my cars at- still wasnt inthe car. and i asked him wtf is going on he said the engin will be inthe car tonight and he will send me a pic of it. so i recieved a picture of the engine in the car but not fully assembled- i asked him when it will be finished, he said " oh i should be putting fluids into it monday after noon" so today (august 16th) i tried calling to see the status of my vehicle and no answer. so i drive down to the shop with my family and see whats going on with my car cause the guy isnt keeping me inthe loop. and the top end of the motor isnt all the way together and at this point i was LIVID! i started getting upset and told him he was extremely past due on my car being completed and asked when from this point will i be able to drive my car. he said wednesday at the latest. i said okay and come wednesday afternoon when i come to drive my car away from your shop and its not completed i expect my full refund- he replied o but that contract is now voided due more

Resolved Question: Whats wrong with my Nvidia nforce Ethernet adapter?

Hi, I have an E machine originally running windows vista home premium, now running 7 home premium. I'm having a problem with my nvidia nforce built in networking controller. For a while I was mad at vista before I could afford to buy seven, so when I bought my computer a year ago I downgraded to XP. All was well until i had an issue with the built in Ethernet adapter. It kept disconnecting and then reconnecting for no reason. It does this about every 3 minutes or so, and when it does its disconnected for about 10 seconds. Its incredibly annoying especially when I'm gaming because it lags severely during this. Getting fed up with not being able to find the solution to this, i got a really cheap Cnet PRO PCI Boosted Ethernet Adapter from a friend. I got it so cheap because it was old, originally released in 1999 when broadband was first sprouting its legs in the world, and many people who switched from dial up to broadband didn't have these Ethernet adapters already in there computer. So anyways I installed it and it works fine. However when I upgraded to windows 7 here in just the last week (clean custom install) the driver for this adapter no longer works. I looked online and found that because its so old its apparently not compatible with windows seven or vista for that matter. So that leaves me with my stupid spastic nforce. What i'm getting at is that the adapter is driving me up the wall. I was just curious if anyone knew of quick fix other than going to buy another Ethernet adapter? Did I mention I'm only 15? So no Job means I cant really afford to go buy one. I really wish there was some sort of fix for this in the settings. I will take anything someone might suggest to fix this :) Sincerely Artieokay, most of these answers that involve getting new drivers: I have the latest version of everything, I had this problem in windows XP as well. My Nvidia is fully compatible, I honestly thing after hearing most of these comments that it has gone bad. Seeing as how there only about 10 dollars at most I will probably just go buy one that works then spend more time dealing with the dumb drivers. I hate drivers I really do. they are the most annoying thing :) Anyways thanks for the Help All more

Resolved Question: Is this character irritating enough?

Cloris is supposed to be so irritating you want to smack her. Also, does the main character deal with her realistically enough? The nut was warm and large in her hands. She breathed in the good, wholesome scent before taking an indulgent bite. “Glora Harbrek?” She looked up from her food. A pale girl stood before her, watching her with an almost accusatory gaze. Glora swallowed her mouthful. “Who are you?” The girl examined Glora’s hair, her blouse and leggings, her velvet cape and gloveless hands, the flakes of walnut above her lip, before answering. “Cloris Wimpleton, and I suppose it isn’t very surprising that you wouldn’t know me. After all, you don’t attend school of any sort.” Glora eyed the girl closely. She met the stare with soft green eyes for a moment, and then flinched and looked away. “No, I have private tutors.” Glora replied. “And anyways, how do you know me?” “Because I saw you once, when we were visiting the East (for educational purposes, of course), and you were playing with street children. It was very shocking to hear that you were the sole daughter of the Harbreks.” “Was it?” “I can’t help but wonder, do you enjoy being so filthy?” “Yes, of course I do.” Glora said brightly. “Haven’t you ever rubbed dirt into your face? It’s quite enjoyable.” “And now I suppose you are being sarcastic, and mocking me. I do almost pity you.” Cloris surveyed her with strange green eyes for a moment. “Would you like to visit my house some time? I would be more than willing to instruct you in some things.” A flush rose to Glora’s cheeks. “I don’t need instruction.” “Don’t be angry, now. It isn’t civilized.” “I’m not -” “Did you notice how messily you eat? I suppose you’ve never learned Northern etiquette, sitting at home as you do.” Glora battled a rising heat in her chest, clenching her fists to keep them from springing up. She was a rather savage thing inside, formed by tussles and dares in the East, clever escapes from visiting tutors, and insolent resistance towards her parents more than Northern customs and delicate training. She struggled to contain her anger, determined to be just as proper as this pale, accusing girl before her. “Why are you so quiet and angry? I mean to be your friend, Glora. When I mentioned how you eat, I just meant I could teach you how to be decent.” Here Glora sprang up, heat thrumming through her veins. “I haven’t learned silly things like etiquette, and I don’t mean to. I do know how to climb a building better than you ever could, and I do know how to punch so hard you’d never talk to me again.” She snapped, glowing with the fiery anger in her chest. But Cloris only met Glora’s eyes with a kind, pitying expression. With a gentle stroke to Glora’s arm, she turned and walked away. more

Resolved Question: Not sure what temps to run 2 thermostats in a single story home?

I have a single story custom home. It is 1900 sq ft. The person who built the home installed two ac's and two thermostats. On thermostat controls all the main living areas and the 2nd controls the three bedrooms. My question is: Should I run the thermostats at the same temperatures? We are only in the bedrooms at night? Should I turn that one off during the day? Will it cost a lot more to cool the rooms at night if they reach high temps in the day? more

Resolved Question: Need some input in building a custom PC.?

I have a Espon Home Cinema 8100 projector supporting 1080p res. that stretches out to a possible 110" screen. I'm interested in using it to play some games, such as the upcoming Crysis 2. What kind of spec's would I need on a PC to produce smooth play on the best res. settings reachable for my limit? I've always played PC games on low end settings because I couldn't handle further, but I spend enough time on these games that I'm willing to invest $$ into being able to enjoy a richer experience. Atm I'm building a custom PC and here is what I've come up with so far, I've thoroughly searched into each and from what I've seen I'm satisfied, however I still don't have the actual experience. My total budget is indefinitely 2,000$, excluding HDD and OS, although if I could get everything for half that I'd be one happy camper. -HAF 932 case. -i7 930 CPU, intend to overclock up to 4GHz. -ATI HD 5850 video card, considering crossfiring in the future but for 1 card for starters. -ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard -A SSD drive -- any recommendations? Within a 250$ budget would be nice. -OCZ 6GB DDR3 1600Mhz memory. -PSU -- If I OC the CPU up to 4Ghz and Xfire, what's a reliable PSU and Wattage to use? -Cooling -- I've heard Megahalem/D14 Noctua/TRUE cooling systems are recommendable, but do they work in compliance with the HAF932 or is another chassis better suggested? Also, would water cooling be better suited? I'm willing to stretch my budget to 200$ for cooling gear alone; I've always wimped out on it going with the cheap stuff and had it come back to bite me. Ideally I'd buy the parts and construct it on my own or use some sort of kit if it came down to WCing. No new HDD for me, I'll be using an external one I have currently for storing things in attempt to cut down on budget, and the SSD for the important stuff like OS, games, etc. Is there any other relatively important component I need to think about? I'm no computer whiz, but I have put in lots of hours into research, and I'm confident and willing to do this on my own. I've also posted this same message on several different forums to gather a variety of opinions. At one point I had actually been convinced that some half assed parts were good from a few people, and realized after more searching they weren't all they were said to be, so I'm not doubting what anyone says... I just want to be as safe as possible :) Budgets: CPU: 350$ Video Card: 300$(not going to Xfire right away) Cooling: 200$ Motherboard: 150$ SSD: 250$ Memory: 200$ Chassis: 150$ PSU: 150$ Grand estimated total: 1750. which is 1950 after calculating taxes in my region on purchased parts, leaving 50$ room for shipping should I order online. So what do you guys think? Please leave your input! Even the advice from a non-professional is invaluable.@bugalugs I don't have an old pc, just laptops lol. I'll be probably be scrapping them. @ Erick: misinfo on my part, the P6T is at best 250$. Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to find a better bargain. SSD looks nice though for 225, I think it's a winner :) @Biker Bry: Good points; I've actually had a couple people recommend AMD now. The cheapest bargain here is 290$ for an i7 but prices range. The overclocking part of my decision may be my thurst for power, but I think I'll still be overclocking. I'll consider dropping my budget on cooling to maybe only 50 though, and not overclock so high :) I'm content with SDD because it offers faster loading speeds and booting, I have only a few several large programs that I use frequently, and I don't have multiple HDD's that I can string together -- call me picky. I suppose I don't need the SSD or the crossfire right away, I'll construct a working PC without them and can implement later down the road if I deem necessary Thanks guys! more

Resolved Question: Challenge for 360 fanboys?

Ok... Explain to me why the 360 is better than the PS3 while following these rules: - Use Proper Grammar - Don't Bash PS3 for idiotic reasons, make a valid point - Only use FACTS, things that are confirmed. - Do not bring up games. It's a matter of opinion which has better games. I'll start out the argument: - The PS3 utilizes Blu-Ray discs, to allow greater detail in games than the 360. - The PS3 offers free online service, which is of good quality. - The PS3 uses a 3-Cell Processor, which is very innovative and more powerful than the 360. - The best graphics on the system only use 60% of the PS3's processor, while the best graphics on the 360 use 90% of the processor. - The PS3's wireless rechargeable controllers ($50) are much less expensive than the 360's ($70). - The PS3 is compatible with Folding@Home, which allows it to work towards curing cancer and other diseases. - The PS3 comes built with wi-fi capability -STANDARD-. It costs more money for the 360. - The PS3 allows you to upgrade your hard-drive with any 2.5" SATA drive, which costs less for more space than the 360 (which only allows you to use Microsoft's drives). - The PS3 supports different operating systems, such as Ubuntu and other Linux software. - The PS3 is more customizable than the 360, as you can upload custom themes and such to the XMB. - The PS3 is compatible with the PSP for remote play and such. - The Sixaxis and Dualshock 3 controllers for the PS3 have longer battery life (around 30 hours) than the 360's rechargeable controllers. Let the flame war BEGIN!If anybody can find enough redeeming factors in the 360 to surpass what I just wrote, I will sell my PS3 and all my games and buy a 360... ...but that'll never happen :PFanboys & fangirls :P more

Resolved Question: Why is it a shame for Americans?

I've ever watched some American movies related to a boy or a girl who is in an age (18-21 years old) and they have to leave their homes to study in another city/state, even if there's a university in the same city he always lived; or even if they don't go to study at some university, he's something like obliged to get out of his/her parents' home. Well! I'm not American. I'm Brazilian and we don't have this custom to get out of parent's home when we get in a specific age. We usually go away when we get married and we're going to build a new family. Yeah... there are people who go before to get married, but just when they want to study in another city because maybe there isn't their wished course. Then, this is my question: why does this happen in the USA? Is it cultural or something? Plus: What do people say/think when they know that some guy/girl is in his/her parent's home yet? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: What kind of lawyer handles harassment caused by HOA that is ruining my life?

I am a retired nurse and have lived my life with Narcolepsy and with medication I was able to graduate from nursing school, keep a home, work as a nurse, be a Mom, daughter and wife, etc. In 2006 I asked the person who managed our condo to lift one stone in my sidewalk that was lifted by the previous management company and it solved the problem of ice forming there. To my amazement the entire sidewalk was replaced. At that time I was annoyed and asked the management person why she would replace a perfect sidewalk when I wanted one stone lifted. Since I asked that question about why she replaced my sidewalk, I have been harassed by the HOA and management company and I have gotten fake fines, no answers to my emails, many things that need to be addressed are not. We are not able to call our board members so I cannot seem to get anything solved since the mgm. person and her husband who owns the company will not reply to my emails. . I also have a back area to my condo and that area is covered with brown dirt, green moss and a few strands of grass. My HOA and management company refuse to fix my back yard even though I pay my maintenance fee on time monthly. I decided it wasn't worth the misery to live here and I bought a home in Sept. 2008. The person who wanted to buy my condo changed their mind when they saw the condition of the back area of my condo as it was truly a mess and I do not blame them. I am ready to list my property with a real estate agent but before I got a chance to list it, the HOA and mgm. person decided to change my roof which had a 40 year guarantee and was at that time 21 years old and still under guarantee. I was forced to get 7 new skylights that turned out to be the cheapest ones made by Velux. The mgm. person would never inform us of the skylights that were going to replace our upscale skylights. I fought the replacement of the skylights but the lawyer for the Enclave wrote a letter to Con. Affairs saying that the professional engineer said the skylights had to be replaced. I thought the decision was wrong but who I am to go against an engineer as I have no training and only common sense. . The Velux $225 retail skylights replaced upscale skylights that today have to be custom made. I refused to pay for the skylights because they are not equal to the value of the ones removed and they actually turned out to be defective with condensation between the glass. Before the new skylights were completely finished, two leaked and ruined my living room furniture & bedroom custom made bedspread; but the lawyer for the condo sent me a letter saying I was fabricating the damage when no one came to look at my furniture and bedspread. The new skylights have lowered the price of my condo as it is no longer worth the money it was worth with the upscale skylights. Many interested buyers want the original condos with the upscale skylights, solid wood doors, brass hinges, etc. No other person living here with the original skylights all four condo owners had to replace are being forced to replace theirs possibly because of all the information I gave the HOA about how good they were as I bought my condo from the builder and was informed of all of these upgrades. The so called professional engineer had a degree in Zoology. At this point right now, I own another home and this condo as I had a buyer for my condo who won't buy it now because of the condition of the grounds. I am paying taxes and upkeep on two homes. I was informed by the twp. engneer and a building inspector that my neighbor used when she moved next door that there is a drainage problem that might even effect the slab under my condo. . The worse is that my Narcolepsy which was treated perfectly with medication is greatly affected by stress and I am no longer able to do anything I once enjoyed doing. I use to volunteer for Hospice, socialize with friends, go to plays, out to dinner, keep up my condo and even had a beautiful garden. With the stress I have to live with right now, I am having a hard time getting out of bed and taking a shower as I am so very tired all the time. Narcolepsy can't handle stress and the medication doesn't work with great deals of stress. . The management person has been telling contractors not to go near me or my daughter as we might file a sexual harassment suit against them and this is absolutely untrue. About 5 years ago, one of the presidents of the HOA made a comment to my daughter that if she went out for a 2 drink minimum he would fix our property. My daughter made a comment that it was sexual harassment but that is all. The mgmt. person is telling contractors who tell her that something has to be fixed on our condo to stay away from us as we may file a sexual harassment suit against them. Honestly, the smart ones do not believe her but still they cannot repair anything without the management p more

Resolved Question: For how much should I sell my PC? System details included.?

I bought a desktop computer around a year ago from a company which builds custom music PCs. However, it is no longer of use to me and so I plan to sell it on Ebay (just the base and its contents). I was wondering if somebody could be kind enough to give a rough idea of what I should charge for this item (perhaps a minimum and a maximum). It's in great condition. Further details are listed below. Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 (3.33 GHz) Memory / Ram: 2 x 1GIG DDR2 1066 Drives: 2 x 500GB Serial ATA 7200RPM 16MB Cache Video Card: nVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT (D9M-20) [AsusTek] Silent 512MB Tagen BZ-500W Ultra-Quiet Modular PSU Scythe Ninja II 12cm Heatpipe Cooler DVD-RW Dual Layer DVD-+R 18x Antek NSK 6000 Black and Silver Case And, if possible, I’ll add the used copy of Windows XP Home (32bit), which would be kept to the single system. In advance, I am also aware of the security risks with selling hard discs and as such I will take precautions to try and securely wipe any data. I'll answer any questions as best I can. more

Resolved Question: What dog toys will help stop boredom while they are home alone?

I have two 4 year old corgis. My husband and I have tried a hundred and one different things to prevent our pups from getting into trouble when they are left alone while we are at work. Leaving them outside is not the answer. They are escape artists and can climb fences and block walls(I have security camera footage of this!). We currently crate them but they have figured out how to open their crate. They have also shown they will climb out of any pen we have used. We would like to keep them in the den so they have space to play but can not cause too much trouble. My husband has built a custom door for the hallway that keeps them in the den but allows the cats to come in to share the space (infra red cat door and collar sensors). If we do not offer some form of entertainment they will figure out some way to break out or something else to get in to! They have tons of balls, plush squeakers, chews and tugs! They never play with any of these toys so I need ideas to stop the bad behavior from boredom. They are crated together for no longer than 2 hours at a time. Their crate is more like a 6x6 ft indoor dog run with their bed, water fountain and toy box. I do come home several times a day to walk them and check on them. I work mainly from home so the times I have to be on set they are crated. Right now that is once every 2 weeks but the studio is requiring more on set hours. A KONG will not work as they have kongs and they ignore them. Even when stuffed with treats. They don't like the rubber. Cat toys will not work as I don't want them taking toys from our cats. They already think that cat toys are theirs and can be possessive. To the jerk that thinks I need to make some big changes... Why do you think we want to expand their area!? I want to give them more room to play and the comforts they have when we are home with the exception of the kitchen and our bedrooms. Maybe you need to read EVERYTHING before you judge! more

Resolved Question: How to Fix Black Screen After Bios?

Here are the specs for the computer I'm having problems with: CPU: Wolfdale Core 2 Duo E8400 GPU: ZOTAC NVIDIA GTX 260 216 Core RAM: G-Skill Gaming Ram (2 x 2 GB) PSU: X-Power 585 Watt Motherboard: ASUS P5N-D HDD: 2 x 1 TB Samsung, ~300GB Maxtor IDE OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Description of problem: When I boot the computer the normal beep is heard and then the motherboard logo, I have the to enter the BIOs. After the motherboard logo disappears the screen goes black and where I usually have a screen that lets me choose between booting Vista or Windows 7 there is nothing. The only light on the computer is the green power light and the busy orange light is off and not moving. It is almost as if the computer gives up and just displays nothing. Pre-Problem: I was playing Garrys Mod for a good 5+ hours when I minimized the game I noticed my computer was slouching along and barely able to operate a web browser. So I closed Garrys Mod and went back to the desktop where it started to respond faster and I just figured that the RAM was used up and like any other time a reboot would fix the problem. I keep my computer very clean and I defrag often and the only program running at all times is AVG. After turning the computer off I turned it back on and now the problem has started. What I've Done So Far: * I have unplugged all the HDDs, Disk Drive, GPU and RAM and plugged them back in. I kept a eye out for any kind of damage but I could find none. After putting the computer back together nothing has changed. * I have gone to the BIOs and looked through to make sure that everything on the computer is responding. The BIOs can see every HDD and gives the accurate slot location and capacity of the drives. It can see the CPU and all the information is accurate. Motherboard and CPU fans are all responding and the voltage readings are all where they should be. * I have ran boot POST and all 4 GB of RAM is OK. * I have switched monitors and still have a black screen, I have switch GPU and still have the same problem. * I have tried unhooking the HDDs and running the HDD that only has the OS Windows 7 and still the same. I tried only hooking up the HDD with Windows Vista and still the same. * I created both a Windows 7 Boot Disk and a Windows System Repair Disc and whenever I try to boot from CD-ROM is comes up saying Boot Disk Failure, Enter a System Disk. I tried this all three different HDDs hooked up at once. I think I have eliminated these from causing the problems: GPU, RAM, HDD(All 3), CPU, Motherboard and PSU. I cannot figure out what is going on with my computer and this has never happened before, it is clearly custom built and has been problem free since I built it over a year ago. The HDD I put Windows 7 on is brand new and the CPU I put in went in without a problem. If you have any suggestions, please share them. Meanwhile I am going to try and test the disk drive in another computer and I am going to swap disk drives to see if a different one will accept the boot disks. EDIT- I forgot to add that the CPU is running at normal Idle temp. more

Resolved Question: Why is my computer messed up?

Hi , I have a custom built pc (by myself) , this desktop was running great for about a year , until it started shutting off while playing games, it doesnt actually power off, i can still hear it running, and my screen goes black so i just power it off manually, also my cd drive doesn not want to open. I can just hear the motor running and it tries but will not open up. I took it to a computer repair shop, they said it opened for them just fine, and that all diagnostic test came up fine. So I brought it home and the problem still occurs, i couldnt get the disk drive to open. The disk drive is really all im worried about, Also..... in the past when i have powered off my pc, there have been times where the pc just would not turn back on, pushing the power button did nothing, this is when i take the side panel off and put it back on , Viola! , the pc start up >< , i dont know why this happens, but i think something may be lose inside my pc and I cannot figure out what it is ? Any Suggestion? thanks more

Resolved Question: Computer Hardware Issue?

Quick version: My brother wanted me to install Ubuntu on his 6-7 year old custom-built computer. I grabbed the 32-bit version, not realizing he has an AMD-64bit processor. Skip ahead, install freezes every time, skip ahead mouse disabled in XP, re-enabled in BIOS, now it freezes during memory test on on BIOS start up. I tried the remove and put RAM chips back in suggestion I've seen on a few forums for similar problems. I've taken every card out and put it back in place. I took the battery out for an hour to restart the CMOS, that killed the screen for a bit, got the screen back up and running, but now it still freezes on the memory test. What can I do that I haven't already done, besides replace the motherboard? Don't know the exact specs, here's the best of my ability to remember things: 6-7 year old custom built computer Windows XP Home Edition NeVidia GeForce 5300 AMD 64-Bit Processor more

Voting Question: Custom computer keeps shutting down randomly, why?

I recently had a custom computer built at Comp USA. It has the following specs: intel core i7 920 asus p6t motherboard ocz 6gb ram two 500 gb hard drives in raid 0 including a third 1.5 tb hard drive Linksys WMP600N Dual-Band Wireless-N PCI Adapter blu ray player from pioneer evga 480 gtx sc ultra 1000w psu When I picked up the computer and plugged it in at home in a matter of a few minutes it would shut down and turn back on, on its own. I took it back and they started replacing parts particularly the graphics card, bluray and psu. However they still had the problem. Yet they tried using a test 750w test psu that they had in the store and the computer ran fine. Could it be that ultra 1000w are bad? I've found on forums that it has had problems with 280 Gtx cards, but 480 gtx too? Also supposedly Ultra isnt a good manufacturer for psus. If so what else should I go with? Oh and also the most noteable times when it shut down was when a bluray was played or a game was played, but it still shut down with out this too.Temps are fine. They stay between 30C and 40 C. 40 C being the gpu. more

Resolved Question: Hi i just flashed my bios, now "floppy disc controller error, press f1 to continue" shows up please help!!!?

i have a custom computer built from scratch. i have windows xp home edition sp3 with an ecs motherboard and ami bios chip and intel pentium dual 3.6ghz processor. I recently flashed my bios and now get an error message when i boot up "floppy disc controller error, press f1 to continue". i have found out why the error message shows, but not how to fix it. At first i thought there was something wrong with my floppy drive, but now i know that it is referring to the keyboard. When i start up without the keyboard plugged in, it still says the error but bypasses it. Even if i bypass it and then plug the keyboard in the keyboard still doesnt work so i cant log in. Yes i have tried both a ps/2 and usb keyboard and the lights blink at start up but error comes up and i cant press f1 because the keyboard doesnt work. i have also tried removing the battery for 10 mins and putting it back in, but same error comes up. Niether of my keyboards are broken because i am using them both on my parents computer. Yes i had the right bios flash. I have heard that my keyboard driver might be disabled, but i cannot get into the bios without a keyboard. please help?i have found out the problem but i cannot fix it... when i flashed my bios i did not have my floppy drive enabled. when you flash your bios you need to put the rom file on a floppy but i did not realize that it was disabled. is there any way to enable that drive without the bios? more

Voting Question: Can you help me with these computer specs?

Ok so i want a good gaming computer so i have been looking around on craigslist for a pre-built custom computer. I know building one would be better but im not the best computer person out there. I know what ram is and how to hook up simple stuff. In a rating from 1-10 id put me at about 6 or 7. But back to the point i found this computer on craigslist and i need help figuring out if it is a good gaming computer or not. Thanks in advance. Here are the specs. Intel Core 2 Quad 2.5GHZ Runs cool thanks to the below mentioned H50 (At about 45-50C under FULL load, all 4 cores running 100%) Average user won't hit this so it'll run cool. Corsair H50 Closed water cooling system on the cpu. (No worry about leaks, this is a very trusted cooling system and great for getting into the start of water cooling.) Pictured below is how I have mine set up, but is not MY computer, I found the picture online. The cpu can be safely overclocked with this cooling system as well, though I haven't done it I've read people overclocking to 3GHz and even 3.4GHz 8GB Corsair DDR3 Ram Asus P5Q3 Motherboard 750GB SATA HDD, might be able to include an additional 750GB SATA HDD for a total of 1.5TB Hard Drive Space depending on the trade or cash offered. DVD-RW Ati Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 with Dual DVI and s-video outputs, also included are DVI to HDMI and DVI to VGA and s-video to composite adapters. crossfire adapter is also included.(Plays any game you throw at it. It can give the Ati Radeon HD 5770 (newer then the 4870) a run for it's money on all current games. WoW will play at 60fps on Ultra High Settings, Sims 3, Command and Conquer 3 all play on Ultra as will. All at 1600x900.(Limited by my monitor's max resolution)) Also the gpu has been cleaned and had the factory thermal paste removed and replaced with Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Paste to run a little bit cooler. 680Watt Power supply will power all this and more, you can crossfire another 4870 with absolutely no problem and still have power left over. Choice of Logitech LX100 wireless mouse and keyboard or the Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard and a wired optical mouse. (May have a wireless one somewhere, if I find it I can include that instead) (Second choice will require a little better trade as the G15 is a far better keyboard with an lcd display that can display game info, weather and all sorts of things also has a back lit keys and such. ) All depends on trade offer or cash offer. 20" Acer 1600x900 LCD Monitor (Model H203H) Running Windows 7 Home 64-bit and has Office 2007 installed. Will be completely re-installed to give you a fresh experience. Can include a few games to show the gaming prowess. Windows Experience Index Scores are as follows: CPU: 7.3 Memory: 7.3 Graphics: 7.5 Gaming Graphics: 7.5 Primary Hard Disk: 5.9 Remember this score is based off a max of 7.9. As Windows 7 uses 7.9 for max, if vista was used it would all be 5.9's as Vista maxes it's score at 5.9. Computer is in a Themaltake SopranoRS Case with the following fans 1 Front 120mm intake fan 2 Side Panel 80mm intake fans with blue LED's 2 120mm fans blowing case exhaust and air over the Corsair's H50 Radiator in a push/pull configuration The computer case, Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard, H50, and monitor are all around a month old at most. So they are practically brand new. more
