i am 24 years old. i have been married for almost 3 years now.and iwe dont have any kids..i dont even have a pet..my husband is a very out going person he has a band and everything.....,but id rather stay home..dont get me wrong ill go out with him..but if i dont need to go anywhere id rather stay home..i was very popular in high school..was very active in sports,but now that adult hood has set in; i just rather be at home..i dont care to make friends, but i will talk to people only if they talk to me..im not shy at all..its just this person ive become over the years after high school//i only talk to my mom and brother on the phone....n ill talk to people if it is business or health related..i just want to know is the normal..do i need to anyone?..o yeah when people try to get close to me ..i shut them out..and i dont like company over,but im fine if my husband has company..and i dont know if this has anything to do with it but i dont have any sisters and i i dont like my husbands family i just tolerate them..somebody tell me something... Additional Details okay..i had a few best friends in my life..the 1st moved out of state when i was in middle school,the 2nd her mom moved to another neighborhood and she transferred to another school, the3rd slept with my boy friend when i was in the 12th grade, 4th this was a college friend she had sex with my boyfriends b4 i met him,and they didnt tell me until after me and the girl moved in together, the last close friend i had..well i met her when i was 21 we went to massage school together..she and my husband hated eachother so we just drifted apart..after that..i havent not really gotten close any one..just my husband,mom, and my two brothers..i guess i have been hurt alot by females..i don't know 0 seconds ago more

Open Question: How can i convince my band teacher that i should be in advance band next year? plz awnser!?

okay well in my school there are 3 levels of band begginer, concer, and advance. im in begginer and play alto sax very well for a begginer and i can play most of the scales and my teacher gives me alot of advance and jazz music since i ask him and he lets me try them! we get along pretty well and joke around when we can but not during class because that when im usally listeing. im the only girl that plays alto sax so i kinda lack confidence :P but i still raise my hand to play solos (does that prove anything?) my teacher has thought me how to play some high notes more then anyone else (not sure y :P) i have alot of intrest in music and i take my instrument home almost every day! the only problem is that there are 17 concert saxes going into advance next year so that makes it harder for me to prove.. idk what to do any tips? my grades in band have always been A I even have extra credit! i have never failes my test always a perfect 20/20 and my participtaion points always 50/50 and i can always see my teacher staring at me and writing something when we are playing and tips? plz no mean comments! more

Open Question: How do you know if you have musical talent?

I play the guitar and piano... the guitar is what I have chosen to focus on and develop. There is someone very negative in my past. I don't think he was a good teacher and I have much more faith in my other music teachers, but hurtful, negative comments leave their scars on people and sometimes the memories come back and I feel really discouraged. In university I studied music (Science, and Spanish) and I had this one professor who was always saying really demeaning things to me: That I was untalented, a slow learner, that it was selfish of me to be there because I didn't deserve to be in college. He told me that I should be working at Burger King because I didn't deserve to be in college. Even if I had been horrible he had no right to say this stuff to me. I complained but the school did nothing. I paid hundreds of dollars to take that class, and I had to feel like I was unwelcome there. But, I took piano and guitar as a kid and went to various state competitions, scoring the highest rating (superior) and got trophies. I've played the guitar in bands... people who know about music, who are objective, and brutally honest have told me that I "rip." I've had teachers that were good, and caring, tell me that I had talent. I studied abroad in Mexico and took music down there and my teacher was really nice (demanding!! but that's a good thing!!) and encouraging and said I was talented. Other people that have heard me play the guitar say I sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan (and he didn't suck) and a few people say I sing and play the guitar better than Susan Tedeschi (who doesn't suck). My choir teacher says I have the most beautiful voice, I don't sing like Whitney Houston but I definitely could sing solos. Don't get me wrong, the guy's (that professor) an idiot and I hope he's dead by now. But, I'm confused. I KNOW that the opinion of my other music teachers counts... I trust them... and value their opinion... but what this guy said to me made me feel like shit. If I have musical talent... why did he say all that stuff to me? And if I don't... then why did my other music teachers say otherwise? more

I'm always compared to this older guy. Appearently I'm just like he was when he was younger, and they want me to grow up to be like him. They want me to get the same grades, the same classes..the same scores for band. If I fail in one thing he does, then I just let down over half the people I know. I hate the high expectations, the expectations to be him. He's a great guy and all (very great) but I just don't want to be him. Any tips? more

Open Question: What happened to Rock and Metal?

(I'm a 16 year old high school student just so in the future you can't say I hate new music because of my age.) What in the world happened to rock, and metal? Don't get me wrong, I do like certain new bands such as: Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin, Coheed and Cambria, etc. Although most bands today kind of suck. Either bands play garbage metalcore music, or they play garbage wanna-be punk/pop music. Where the heck did the rebellion go? Whatever happened to giving the government the finger, and just playing music for the sake of creating art. And just for the record to all of you metal-heads, screaming/growling is not "Raw Emotion", it is trash that has absolutely no point and is killing metal as we know it. I will give you one thing though, musicians have definitely gotten more talented, but no one puts any soul into their music anymore. I'm just saying, What the F**k happened to the good old days? more

i lived in california and my mom told me were moving to mexico...ive been living in mexico about a year now ...My year is up and im planning to live with my dad back to california but i'll be starting high school this year in california and I really didnt have any friends from 2nd to 7th grade...i had a party and invited 40 people but only 2 came and that really made me sad...im taking drumming classes in mexico and im planning to start a band in high school and try to be famouse but Im CONFUSED...Will i get more popular if i move to california or should i stay in mexico( people in mexico like me...and they go to my parties but in mexico i cant start a band because its to difficult for me) more

Okay, I've seen a lot of these questions on here. I still think they're pretty stupid, but hey; I'm granted a few stupid questions, too. Name: Samantha (Nickname: Sam. Friends call me "Sammii"). Age: Thirteen, grade eight. Appearance: 5'4, 149lbs (I'm secretly self-conscious about my weight, but I've heard people say that I'm a lot thinner than I look). I have curly brown hair that goes down to the flat of my back when straightened. Brown eyes and I have a faint birthmark/beauty mark on on my right eyelid (it's split between my top and bottom eyelids... haha). I have fairly long and thick eyelashes, which I kind of like. My skin tone is porcelain. I don't have any piercings, not even my ears, although I like the look of facial and body piercings. I have braces on my upper teeth and my canines are a little longer than the rest. I wear glasses but have contacts that I wear from time to time. I usually wear black or dark clothing with high-top shoes or boots. Personality: With people I don't know, I'm pretty shy. Well, not so much "shy" as just not wanting any social interaction. With people I do know, I'm reckless and aggressive. With the few close friends I have, I'm still reckless and aggressive, but I can be funny and talkative (although I have an odd sense of humour; see: black comedy). When someone makes a stupid remark, I'm usually just downright sarcastic. I'm nice to people I like, but when someone annoys me it's normally followed my a hit over the head from me. I'm tough on the outside, but what only a couple people know is that I'm actually really self-conscious. My family is dysfunctional and sometimes it feels like everything's going wrong. I do well in school, and I'd probably get perfect grades if I actually cared about any of the work I do. I don't really like people in general, because to me it seems like most of society is moronic. Huh, charming, right? Other: I'm an only child. I love music, art, literature, etc. I play drums, write my own lyrics, and draw/paint as a pastime. I enjoy bands such as My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Panic! At the Disco, Bon Jovi, etc., etc. My most favourite band is Mindless Self Indulgence, by far. I like ice skating and I skate board. I love the nighttime and hardly ever sleep before 3:00 AM. There it is. Open Question: I picked the wrong career?

I majored in Spanish when I was in college. I don't regret learning how to speak Spanish- I LOVE Spanish- but I regret majoring in it so much. I've been sub teaching and I HATE it!! I can't afford to quit or get fired because or the economy. My aunt keeps telling me there are all sorts of good jobs for people who speak fluent Spanish, but I don't want a JOB- I want a career! I don't want to live by default and do something I just fell into because I have to. I want something that I dreamed of and picked out. I want an identity and fulfillment. I wish I'd been a veterinarian but I'm so scared it's too late. I graduated from school a long time ago and I don't think my undergraduate grades were high enough. Now I'll never be happy... I would also have loved being a commercial artist and been really good at it. I always thought that being an animator would be the coolest job. I didn't think I had the talent. Now people look at my work and a series of people have told me that I could have been an animator for Disney. Or, I should have just dropped out of school, run away to Austin and played in a band. But going to college and getting a useless degree... What do you do when you've ruined your life?I LOVE Spanish, but I hated being an interpreter. It was so boring!! Doing stuff on another person's behalf was so unfulfilling. I'd rather create art or help animals. more

Open Question: Haven't played in a long time, instruments and orchestras?

I have played in the past piano, recorder, and percussion. Percussion is the one I love the most and was in my school junior high school band. I started playing when I was 12 and stopped when I was about 15. [A little quick background info here: I have been performing on stage dancing, singing, acting, playing instruments, etc etc since a young age and at 15 I decided to stop performing altogether. And I MISS PERFORMING!] I would love to join a local orchestra but I am not good enough. I only have a snare drum at home to practice on. No bells, no timpani, no bass drum, nothing else I can practice with. (Percussion instruments are expensive!) And I haven't played in a long while. I know for certain that I could get back in the swing of things with my snare drum but what about all the other aspects of percussion? I guess these are my main questions/concerns: - Are there any places where I could practice on instruments (like timpani and bells) for free??? (such as a college or music store?) - If I practice enough, could I be at least decent enough to join an orchestra by fall? more

Sorry, the dress isn't online so I'll describe it the best I can. The dress hits about mid-thigh with a thick red band around the tummy. The skirt part of the dress(below the band) is navy blue and the top(above the band) is navy and light grey striped(horizontal). It is sleeveless with a t-shirt neckline. I paired it with a gold and red bracelet, gold anchor necklace, black sheer pantyhose, and red open-toed heels(about an inch high). Does it sound cute? I was going for a nautical sailor theme. more

Open Question: NYU: Do I cut it or should I just give up now (I'm a sophomore in HS)?

My dream is to go to school at NYU. The thing is, I'm not going to be taking the AP classes. I feel like this is hindering me very much, but I simply cannot take the AP classes in this moment in time. CLUBS/EXTRACURRICULARS: As of right now, the only thing I am involved in is French Club. Next year, I plan to join FCCLA and NHS. Would joining band for the last two years help at all? I also plan on doing various forms of community service in the next two years, would that help too? CLASSES I'VE TAKEN: Honors World History, College Prep U.S. History, Honors English 9, Honors English 10, Spanish 1, French 1, Algebra 1, Geometry, BSCS Biology [the honors form], Chemistry, and the required gym/health classes. CLASSES FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR: I am basically going to take the required/reccomended courses to graduate, but NONE of them are honors/AP except the fact that I'll take Physics. My goal is to get the honor's diploma, so I am basically striving for that. GRADES/G.P.A.: Unfortunatly, I am not a straight A student. Mostly A's and a few B's. My cumalitive G.P.A. is about 3.6. I am going to try my very hardest to get straight A's in the next two years, or at least limit my amount of B's. This will obviously raise my G.P.A ACT: Earlier this year I took a practice version of the ACT and they predicted my result on the real thing would be roughly 23-25. I believe that if I practice enough that I'll be able to achieve maybe a few points higher than that. My goal is to get a 27 or above. I have already bought a practice book type thing, and plan to prepare in all ways necessary. MONEY/PARENT'S REQUIRMENTS: Money isn't an issue with my parents, IF I get my general requirments done at the local college so that my dad feels assured that I do not party and am able to get what I need to get done, and not fail out. He feels that if I'm willing to try my hardest [which I am] then I can go anywhere. more

this is my expose for the debate team. Tell me if it's good or not. And tell me what SHOULD I say. "I want someone to love me for who I am; I want someone to need me, is that so bad? I wanna break all the madness, but it's all I have. I want someone to love me for who I am.'' What these lyrics mean to me is love. Today, we are going to talk about the person I admire most: Nick Jonas. He is such a good role model, on how he has diabetes, and on how he deals with his music seriously. First, let me tell you, why I think Nick is an awesome role model. Why is he such a caring person to everyone? He was brought up to be treated with respect by other people. He knows right from wrong. As a result, he thinks on what comes next. Nick cares so much his family, friends, and fans. I am one of those crazy fans that enjoy everything that he does imprecisely. Therefore, Nick Jonas favorite inspiration is his very own father. His father helps him threw out everything of what happens. Some people say their mother; because they treat them with respect as well. Nick's mother does help him as well. As you can see, Nick is a loveable teenager, just like us today. Nick; he is such a good role model to me, because he cares so much about everything. Secondly, Nick does have diabetes. It is type one. How did he get it? He was on tour with two of his brothers, Joe and Kevin. He (Nick Jonas) was acting quite funny. They brought Nick to the hospital to do everything on him. The doctors has found out that he has type one diabetes. In early November 2005, Nick spent the night at the hospital and left the next day. A month or two before he was diagnosed, he began the usual symptoms: losing weight, bad attitude, being thirsty, going to the bathroom all the time. He lost about fifteen pounds in two or three weeks, and it was quite crazy. His blood sugar was over 700. Nick took some off while he was on tour. Also, he has to check his blood sugar lots of times everyday to make sure it doesnt go too high or too low. Thus, as he has to watch what he eats and most importantly, its for the rest of his life. Though Nick knows that having Diabetes will not stop him from living his dream and slowing down. He is helping little kids that have Diabetes and rasing lots of money. Lastly, Nick Jonas does take his music seriously. Everything he writes about is about, relationship, friendship, or anything that comes to his mind. Now, everything has heard 'who I am' he new single with his new band Nick JOnas and the Adminitration. This typical song is starting a new relationship with a girl. It was on his first album. However, he is still with his other band Jonas Brothers. Though, he does take his music to a new level, and how he does take it seriously. Music to him is everything, besides his family, friends, and fans. In conclusion, Nick Jonas is the person I admire most. He is an awesome role model, on how he has diabetes, and how he takes his music seriously. "Nothing makes sense, nothing makes sense anymore, nothing is right, nothing is right when your gone, losing my breath, losing my right to be wrong. I'm frightened to death. I'm frightened that I won't be strong." more

And what's their Dynamic like? For example, mine is Fugazi: Guy Piccotto has a high, wailing, indeterminate voice, often singing the more experimental, dissonant songs. Open Question: What type of music genre would this be?

There are two types of music that I'm looking to be able to label with a genre. The first type is like that futuristic/daydreamy type of lightcore techno music the best example that I can give would be the band "ZERO 7" preferably without lyrics and vocals. Open Question: I have decided my dream college, with what I have, can I get accepted, I'm only a sophomore in high school?

I currently do not and have not joined any extra curricular activities besides French Club. I plan to join FCCLA and NHS. Would joining band the last two years improve anything? Here are the courses I have taken: Honors World History, Honors English 9, Alg 1, Spanish 1, BSCS Biology [basically the honors class of bio], College-prep U.S. History [basically the regular course, not honors], Honors English 10, Geometry, French 1, and chemistry. [Plus school requirments of P.E. and Health] For the rest of my high school career I'm basically going to strive to meet the Honor's Diploma. I am confident that I can do it. I am not going to take AP classes. The only class that I am going to take that is above the average of my class is Physics. I also will be taking 3 years of French rather than the wanted 4. I made the mistake my freshman year of taking a year of Spanigh. My grades are good, not straight A's. I believe my G.P.A is around 3.6. I hope to do great [striving for straight A's] my junior and senior year so that my G.P.A is raised. I plan to do community service over the next few years, will that help? I took a practive GRADE 10 leveled ACT and they predicted a 23-25 score, that is if I DON'T prepare beforehand. I have already bought a practice book and plan to practice as much as I can to achieve the highest score possible. Also, I know NYU is quite an expensive school. My father and I have talked about it, and he said as long as I do ONE year at the local college and get my general requirements done, he will gladly pay for me going to NYU. Do you think overweight people would be interested in a fitness place as such? The gym would be utilizing 10-12 identical fitness stations, each containing a set of exercise equipment, weights, rubber bands, medicine balls, machines and treadmills. Everybody could come three times per week for a 40 minute class. 40 minute class exerciseswould look like this: 5 minute warm-up, 20 minute resistance training done according to instructions of a group trainer, workout would change always so there is no plateu and boredom. It would be put together for weight loss. Then 10 minute high intensity interval training on a treadmill= 30 seconds walk then 30 seconds of the highest speed one can take, then again 30seconds walk, 30 seconds of the highest speed one can take. 5 minute stretching at the end. This routine would build overall strength and conditioning and would help lose weight. more

Open Question: Why is it that our teachers, whom, by the way are actually important, are being laid off?

People want to better our educations, yet there are several students being affected by these teachers leaving? They are taking away our most important teachers and subjects and keeping all of the worthless teachers and subjects? Come on people. I go to Vestaburg High School (I know most of you have no clue where that is, but it is conveniently hidden behind that cornfield in the outskirts of montcalm county) Our athletic department is on the fence, we may not have football, basketball, track, baseball, or softball any more; we may lose our band and choir classes; we may lose our english teacher/communication skills teacher, and our counselor. Tell me how that is supposed to fix things? If our athletic department is cut, several people are going to be upset, including me, seeing as this is my first year in track and I love every minute of it; and if we lose band and choir, they are basically taking away something that more than half of the high school population is in, and ruining the chances of everyone who wants to persue in this career. Cutting our English teacher/communication skills teacher is going to ruin our chances of getting a job because we can not read or communicate with people, and if we lose our counselor, how are the kids that have been struggling with school or with life going to just abruptly switch to some person that they do not know? No, that is going to make kids psycho and start another "Columbine". Then, there are teachers who do not barely even teach or show up for that matter, and they get to keep their jobs? Why is this happening? Where is all our money going to? Why can the states not afford to give us the money we need? I would really like to go to the Interlochen summer camp for music (clarinet). I'm 14 and am in 8th grade. I live in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. Is it really worth $4,000? Do I even have a chance of making it in? I was the first chair in my city's all-district band and my director told me she thinks I'll make it to all-state in high school. I played Fughetta by Finzi for solo & ensemble and my private teacher is having me work on the first movement of Grand Duo Concertant by Weber (she says it's easy for me, though). Open Question: How does the average person discover/hear new songs?

i feel like theres no good way to discover good new songs out unless you have all hours of the day to watch music videos on TV which usually just play one category the entire day. im not in the car enough to listen to the radio and the who actually plays the radio in their house? in high school it was so easy to know music because the ''extreme'' music listeners would always turn everyone else onto the good, relatively new bands/artists music but now i feel a disconnect to new music...i dont buy music more

Open Question: How can i look after my voice when singing rock songs?

Iv been singing rock songs (sometimes heavy rock) for a while now and i never used to have a problem. In fact, i love it, and me and friend are trying to start a band in which i will be lead vocals. But not to long back i caught a cold and ended up losing my voice. When i got it back it felt weaker then before, and for a while i couldnt sing some of the heavier songs i could in the past. My voice eventually got some more power back, but im experiencing different problems now. Whenever i use my voice, it sounds ok, but also sounds like its cracking a bit and the next day it feels weak again. Its really frustrating, coz we've already started working on some covers (escape the fate - 10 miles wide, and a couple of Fall out boy tracks) and my voice could easily take it before, but im struggling now. Additional info I dont know how to do vocal warm-ups so iv never done any at all. My chest hurts sometimes when i go for the higher notes and i sometimes get a sore throat after singing. I want to be able to continue singing in my band, but i dont want to wreck my voice either. So how do i look after my voice when singing the songs i need to? Does the cracking mean that i have nodules? Coz i can hit the notes, but is there a way to do it safely? Are the certain foods or drinks i should stay away from, or eat or drink more of? Should i start exercising my voice and what difference would it make if i did? Please do your best to answer my questions :) Thank you more

Open Question: GUYS: I'm getting lots of mixed signals, can you tell me what he means?

I'm a freshman in high school, and he's a sophomore. He's my first love, and I've had these feelings for months. Please don't tell me I don't love him; I think I know where my emotions lie. I've talked to him about five times or so over Facebook chat, but when I try to talk to him in real life, I get so scared (I'm a very shy person), and I try to make eye contact and wave or something, and he just ignores me. I always see him looking at me whenever he sits behind me in band practice or on buses, but then he looks away really smoothly. This is a step up from what I used to get, though, which was pretty much nonexistence. Lately, whenever I try to talk to him online, he just doesn't respond. I've spaced it out, and I haven't even been flirting to a noticeable extent. The thing is, when he does respond, we always have the most amazing conversations. I enjoy them a lot, and I think he might, too, because he always seems to have fun and mess around with me. I don't know if he likes me or not, but I don't really care. I'm willing to wait for him, but I do want to know if he absolutely detests me. He's a nice person; I don't see why he's so rude to me. Help? more

Resolved Question: My swing trading strategy??? 10 points?

I asked a question about trend following earlier and decided against it, however the strategy ive been using with success is almost random. I literally just pick a stock and look at its chart and use technical analysis like bollinger bands. I look for band trading or breakouts or new highs. Each trade is different depending what i think. I also do a simple fundemental look and look at headlines and upcoming events. I basically take an educated guess from past performance. Most of the time like 6 or 7 out of 10 times im right. Call me lucky lol. When im wrong i simply cut my loses and look for something else. I also trade the same stocks most of the time like my favorite is AUY i trade this stock all the time. I dont hold on to stocks for more than 2 weeks usually unless there is no movements. Im also not a daytrader. I usually buy or sell one day then in a few days or a week ill sell or cover. I also like to trade rallies in the market or crashes only once i recognize whats going on. What is this strategy called? But keep in mind i know money management and i never put more that 20% in a trade and since i have under 10K i can take risk and since im only 19. If a stock dosent do what i think it may do i get out period. What are your thoughts on this strategy? Ive been doing this for almost 5 years now and never had a "bad" year when the market crashed back in 08 i lost about 20% but then shorted the stocks and quickly made it back then i went long and make much more.i average 70% a year for the past 4 years this year im up about 13% so far.i read in a trading book that says what ever works for you do it dont do what everyone else is doing if it works use it and thus far the way i trade is working but lately im think will it in the long run? more
