Open Question: I need pure romance consultant help... Advice?
I just have a few questions about pure romance! I am a college student who is looking for a way to find some extra income for myself! I have heard a lot about being a pure romance consultant and I am seriously considering becoming one. I live in a college town and I think it would spark the interest of a lot of women and college girls! Here are some of my questions...
1. How do you get the word out on your new job as a consultant and book parties? I live in an apartment complex so would hanging on the community bulletin board be a good idea?
2. I know the pay is fairly decent. I have done research but I had a question on getting paid. Do you have to buy product to sell or can you sample products at a party and then have the girls from the party order the product online? If so, do the sales from my party off the website get paid to me and if they do does the commission I make go to my bank account through direct deposit?
3. I know I will buy some product online to sell so which products seem to be the best sellers?
4. I notice when you go to sign the agreement it asks what your tax rate is... What information do I put here?
Any information pertaining to these questions would be helpful!

moreOpen Question: What is your assessment of 100 protesters throw rocks, eggs at LAPD station set a trash bin on fire?
LOS ANGELES – Demonstrators pelted police for a second night in a poor immigrant neighborhood following the fatal shooting of a Guatemalan day laborer who allegedly threatened people with a knife and then turned the weapon on a responding officer.
Officers fired at least two rounds of foam projectiles at demonstrators Tuesday night and 22 people were arrested, mainly for failure to disperse and unlawful assembly, Officer Karen Rayner said.
The disturbance erupted despite police Chief Charlie Beck's pledge to conduct a full investigation into the Sunday afternoon shooting of Manuel Jamines, 37, in the Westlake district near MacArthur Park, a neighborhood packed with recent immigrants from Central America.
An estimated 300 protesters who gathered outside the local police station hurled eggs, rocks and bottles and set a trash bin on fire. Others dropped household items from apartment buildings.
"People were throwing televisions, air conditioning units, miscellaneous furniture and other objects from the windows," Lt. Cory Palka said.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100908/ap_on_re_us/us_fatal_police_shooting
The protesters, claiming the man was unarmed, used a bullhorn to shout in Spanish — "Assassination!" "Assassination!" and "We want justice!" — as they marched along 6th to the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart station. Onlookers watched from their apartment windows, while others joined the procession as LAPD officers monitored the action from nearby corners and adjacent streets.
At one point, police in riot gear faced off with a shouting throng near a series of memorials hung from a fence by the sidewalk where the man was killed on 6th Street. He was identified by friends as Manuel Jamines, 37, a Guatemalan immigrant who came to Los Angeles seven years ago.
"He was not a criminal," said Juan Velasquez, who said he is from the same village as Jamines.
Julio Martinez, 57, said he was walking along 6th on Sunday when he saw officers from the LAPD's bicycle unit fire their weapons at Jamines, who was not armed, according to Martinez.
"I did not see a knife in his hands," Martinez said, adding that he heard two gunshots.
LAPD Capt. Rigo Romero said officers recovered a knife from the scene and that detectives were investigating the killing.
"Our investigation is going to be transparent," he said. "We take every force investigation very, very seriously."
At one point, protesters got into a shouting and shoving match with a store security guard, who fled to his car and sped away as people hurled objects and kicked at his vehicle.
As the crowd gathered at the corner, Guatemalan Consul General Pablo Garcia Saenz arrived to ask that people protest peacefully and assure them that his staff was in contact with the LAPD. His assistants said that a community meeting was planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Guatemalan Consulate.
"We do not want any more violence," Saenz told the crowd in Spanish.

moreOpen Question: Admission Diagnosis: Multiple compression fractures of T12, L1, L2, and L4. Discharge Diagnosis: Same as abov?
Admission Diagnosis: Multiple compression fractures of T12, L1, L2, and L4.
Discharge Diagnosis: Same as above, nonacute fractures.
History Of Present Illness: This is a 70-year-old African-American female with a long history of multiple fractures dating back to 1992. She has a history of significant osteoporosis diagnosed in 1998. The patient also has a history of osteoarthritis and had a right total hip replacement in 2000. Two days prior to admission, the patient missed the final step coming down the stairs in her home. She caught hold of the railing, but twisted as she did so and developed some back pain. This became progressively worse over the next two days to the point where she was having difficulty ambulating and she went to the Emergency Room.
On evaluation in the ER, it was noted that she had compression fractures of the T12, L1, L2, L3, and L4 vertebrae. However, these could not be ruled out as new or old fractures due to lack of previous x-rays in this area. The patient was admitted for further evaluation.
Past Medical History: The patient is retired and lives in an independent living apartment in the Pine Valley retirement community. She does not smoke and has no alcohol intake. She has osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. Also of note is that approximately 10 days prior to admission, the patient had sustained a distal radius fracture of her left forearm for which she was treated with a splint by an orthopedist.
Physical Examination: This is a well-developed, well-nourished elderly female in no acute distress. She had moderate discomfort on movement. Her HEENT exam was essentially normal. Her lungs were clear. Heart had a regular rate and rhythm. Abdomen was soft and nontender. Her rectal area showed good tone. Her back showed moderate tenderness to palpation in the upper lumbar and lower thoracic area. Neurologically, she was completely normal with cranial nerves being intact. Motor was 5/5 in all extremities, except for the left extremity, which was not examined secondary to the arm being in a splint. She had deep tendon reflexes 2+ and equal. Her sensory exam was normal.
Hospital Course: The patient was admitted and on the day following admission, she had a bone scan which revealed moderate degenerative joint disease of the T&L (thoracic and lumbar) spine with no evidence of acute compression fractures. The patient was placed on bed rest and was started with physical therapy and ambulation with which she has steadily progressed with decreasing pain and tenderness. The patient is now ambulating using a walker with a platform for her wrist splint.
Social Services and Physical Therapy were consulted. She is ambulating well with her walker and it is felt she will do well staying with members of her family over the next 10 to 14 days, after which time she will be able to go back to living in her apartment.
The patient will follow up with the Orthopedic Clinic in 10 to 14 days. She will follow up with her private physician for the wrist fracture upon discharge.
Discharge Medications: Tylenol #3, one or two p.o. q 4-6 h. p.r.n.; Fosamax 5 mg daily, and she will continue with her Calcium t.i.d.
Discussion Questions: What does it mean in the spinal x-ray when it says, "These could not be ruled out as new or old fractures?" What other terms in this case study refer to structures and conditions of the skeletal system?
moreResolved Question: I'm moving to Hawai'i for college, what do I need to have planned out for living there?
Okay, so it's decided. I'm moving to Hawai'i this coming summer (2011) for college. I'm actually going there for vacation right after I graduate with a couple of friends, then I'm going to look for an apartment and live there 'til I get my residency while getting a job and going to a community college (I don't want to be a whole year just working). Reason why I'm deciding to go to a community college before I attend the university is because I'd have to pay the non-residential fee which I hear can get pretty high and I don't have that kind of money.
I don't know where or how to begin! Do I start looking for apartments now? Should I look into room mates in Hawai'i or here (Texas) to share my apartment so it'll be less expensive on me? (I hear it's REALLY expensive to live over there) What community colleges are over there? I'm already saving up money right now to move there (Honolulu). I have a car here now, should I spend money on transporting it over there, or just wait and buy a used one while I'm living there?
I just need some advice on what I need to have planned out RIGHT now and what I should expect. (Sorry it's a little long, but this has been my dream since I first heard of this college HPU and I will do anything to make it happen!)
Thank you(:I'm an 18 year old girl who's a senior in college btw. Lol.
I really just want to know about all the expenses I need to have in mind, I don't want to be too overwhelmed when I move over there..To be honest with you, I've ALWAYS wanted to get out of Texas. I didn't know where yet, but I knew I wanted to get out of here. I met a hawaiian family and we became really close. Ever since then I've been soo admired by the Hawaiian culture. At first I didn't want to live on an island, but after I looked into it, it looks beautiful and I know it's going to be stressful and it's not going to be exactly how I picture it, but college is stressful period. I wanted to go to study environmental science/nursing. So, the question on my mind right now is, since I want to go to HPU, do I need to have my residency? And if I do, will I have to wait one year? If I need to wait one year, (I know I'll need a job) but do I take classes of somesort? I'm deciding to take some college classes my second semester of HS to maybe help improve my chances to getting into HPU. I've already looked into other colleges in other states, but the "tropical" area seems attracts me more than "the city life".

Trying to find an estimate for how much savings i should have before I am ready to move out.

How much would u say would be the minimum amount in savings? How about a good, safe amount?

moreOpen Question: What are some good apartments in Jacksonville, FL to live in?
I am doing some homework early on and plan on transferring to an office possibly in Orange Park sometime next year. I want to live in a safe community with rent as low as possibly as well. I expect to be at least making $1600 monthly and do want to live on my own. So, a rent under $700 is possible. I know I can go to apartments.com and look but they won't tell you about how safe or unsafe the community is.
Thanks for your help in advance!
moreResolved Question: College Help Please!?!?!?
Although i still have a little while until college, i really need to start thinking about it this school year.
I can't decide between a University and a Community College(then transferring to a University after 2 years)
here are my pros and cons to each
University
pros:
-a lot of conveniances
-being involved with the "freshman" experience with dorm life and whatnot.
-large size
cons:
-the cost
-i would feel really cramped in a dorm and i have a hard time getting along with people so i don't think i would like the dorm.
-class difficulty would be harder
-i'm used to VERY small classes (15 people max) so the large sizes would be major shock to start
Community College
pros
-cheaper cost
-easier class difficulty for first two years
-i could live in an apartment instead of a dorm
cons:
-i feel like i would miss out on the college experience and what not
Does anyone have any PERSONAL situations? Things that happened to you? what did you choose? Advice??

moreResolved Question: I just moved to college and i'm extremely lonely. What should I do?
Hey, I am a 21 year old male who just transferred from a community college to a university. My new school is 450 miles away from home and i feel extremely depressed and isolated. I enjoy attending class and learning new things, but the problem is that I have absolutely NO social life. I have been here for about three weeks now and I haven't managed to meet a single person. I see everyone else in class talking to their friends and planning things to do on the weekends, and I feel completely left out. The only thing I have to look forward to after school, is coming home to my empty apartment. I mean, I have a roommate, but we are complete opposites, and I can already tell that we probably wont be friends. I have spent every weekend so far sitting by myself. I have even resorted to drinking alone a few times.
I have my family telling me, "oh, just go out an meet people", "how hard can it be". Well the thing is, Its extremely hard. I have pretty bad social anxiety, and Ive never been one to go out alone. I know there are the standard cookie-cutter answers that people always say, like "join a club," but I don't want to invest my time to be just to be let down. I've already had enough disappointments in my life.
It seems like everyone already had their set group of friends, and they aren't looking for anymore. Is there anything I can do, or am i destined to spend the remained of my college years cooped up in my apartment by myself.
Please help me!!!Oh, I forgot some details. My school is considered a "party" school, and a goo portion of the student body spend their time binge drinking or getting high. The only reason I choose this school, is because they have a pretty decent business program. I'm not into the whole party/drug scene. That's also one of the reasons why i'm so hesitant to go out. I think it might be kind of difficult to find people like myself who like to have good old fashion fun, without being under the influence of something.
moreOpen Question: I need help with life?
So i decided to move to a new city for community college because i was tired of the one i came from. In moving here i left everything behind and moved into this dorm like apartment complex so that i could make friends. Its been two weeks and I've made only one friend and that was because we sat next to each other on the bus. My roommates don't really talk to me, i guess it's because i don't go out or party, but they've never bothered to ask and as result i now keep to myself, and I'm pretty lonely like i have no one to go to the cafeteria with to eat, its pretty depressing and i am a shy person so it makes it even harder. No one here seems to have my problem they all seem to have shit loads of friends and know where to go. I just need help i guess trying to figure this whole thing out.
moreVoting Question: How do you stop dreaming/thinking about someone that you're trying to forget about?
My girlfriend of one year broke up with me 4 months ago. When she broke up with me she told me that she "never loved me, she broke up with me to go out with another girl (who's her best friend) and she only went out with me to humor me." She's going off to college and she used that as an excuse to break up with me. But when i told her that wasnt a valid excuse, she told me that it was because she doesnt like me. And it WASNT a valid excuse because here she is, dating her best friend. When i think about it logically, it doesnt make sense, because you dont date someone for a year and take them to prom and cry when you think she's cheating on you (which i wasnt) and then say you don't love them. It doesn't make sense to me but i continue to think about those words she said every day. I think about her everyday. I'm confused. Because to this day, i don't know why she broke up with me. I loved her, i did everything for her, i stood outside her window which was on the third floor of her apartment building and screamed out that i loved her. I bought her things.. i baked her a cake from scratch for her birthday. I did everything for her and now this? I dont get it. But i keep having dreams about her.. about her saying that she's sorry, or that she loves me or dreams where she's hugging me. Maybe i just want to believe it so i'm dreaming about it.. But i dont know. And she keeps showing up everywhere. I saw her driving past my highschool the other day and she saw me and as she drove past she just stared at me. She keeps showing up at my school with her new girlfriend even though she goes to a community college a 10 min. drive away. UGHHH what do i do..

I bring home about 1200 per month.I attend community college so their is no student housing. I also don't stay with my parents or any family members for personal issues. I don't have any children as well. I was wondering could i apply for section 8 living?
moreResolved Question: If I choose to take a lower paying job, would that hurt me with child support?
Right now I'm a financial advisor. I make a really good income. When I was going through the divorce my income was really low compared to what it is this year, because of the economy.
I recently finished my masters degree and I would like to teach at the local community college. This job, if I get it will pay me half of what I'm making now. I'm definitely going to have to make changes in my living arrangements. I'm probably going to have to either get a smaller apartment & let my kids share a room, or move to a same size apartment in a neighborhood that's not so good.
I hate what I do. It's really stressful, and I work long hours. Teaching college offers far more freedom of my time; however, the pay is significantly lower.
I'm afraid that if I went to court to have it adjusted, the judge could order me to pay more based on what I'm currently making on my job. I know from experience that the judge doesn't really care how good or bad a father I am...they just go based on income and time spent with child...however they have the choice on which income to chose in a situation like this. These are the number I'm talking about. Last year because of the economy I made $70k. This year I will make $120k. However, the teaching job will pay me $40k or $50k.
moreVoting Question: Is there any kind of living similar to dorm living after university?
I lived in the dorms for most of my college experience and I loved it. They were more like interconnected suites. What I liked wasn't necessarily the food or the actual living units but the community. I've since moved out to a house with a few roommates but I feel massively disconnected from the world. There seems to be no substitution for the kind of community experienced at the dorms. Even in apartment complexes, people seem to be totally uninterested in community there. I'm a really social person and I'm having a difficult time adjusting to this kind of thing. I know there's a lot of new developments happening that encourage the kind of communal living I'm talking about, but do they work? Anybody have any experience? Are they worth the cost? Thanks all.

moreVoting Question: Would this be enough to break our lease?
My boyfriend and I recently moved to Tennessee, but we need to move back home to be with family. We've thoroughly looked over our lease agreement, but some things are a little fuzzy.
Our apartment complex is a "gated community", but in the 6 months that we've been here, we have only had to enter the code a total of four times. Any other time, it has been wide open. We've voiced our concerns to our property manager and leasing consultant, but nothing has been done about it. There was a robbery outside of our building the other day, which makes me wonder if it could have been prevented if the gate closed.
Another issue that we've encountered has been parking. The complex hands out parking permits and reserves the front row for residents and the back for visitors. It seems like every night that we have to park a few buildings down because there are almost never any spots. It gets to the point where other people are parking in fire lanes. This was also brought to the managements attention, but nothing has been done.
I work late nights and do not feel comfortable parking 5 minutes away from my apartment, walking through a poorly lit courtyard when the gate is suppose to be closed every night but isn't. We've paid our rent on time and have fulfilled our contractual agreements so far (60 day written notice of leave, etc), but we do not feel that we should pay our termination fee. Also, we signed a SureDeposit and I'm not quite sure what that entails, but it covers some of it...right?
TL;DR Complex isn't doing their job and we think we shouldn't pay them because they haven't. There are other examples, but thought I'd share the main concerns. Thanks!Dale - The gate was only functional (barely, at that) the first month. Since then, it hasn't been closed AT ALL. After our concerns were addressed, nothing has been done. That is the basis of my frustration with the complex. Because we (and many others) have voiced the problems of the community and they haven't done anything.
They have falsely advertised and pulled too many bait-and-switches. Between the gate not closing, non-permitted cars filling up resident parking, constantly flooded tennis court, knowingly leasing to residents where there is mold in the building, huge pest problem and a few other items in the lease that THEY are breaking, it becomes ridiculous. Contract or not, they have done enough wrong to not warrant a check from me.
That being said, if it goes to court, what legal issues would I encounter, what are some good fighting points for me and what do they have over me (besides the actual lease)? Also, odds that I can win this case?
moreResolved Question: Legal?? -Landlord sent a letter saying my smoking ciggarettes is bothering other tenants..?
Someone please tell me if this is even legal, or are they just nit picking? Keep in mind, I live in an apartment complex, it's only my husband and I, we RARELY have company, smoking is permitted, and we have a ceiling fan on pretty much all the time. My husband and I both smoke a little less than a pack a day, although he is at work at least 10 hours each evening.. so I guess it's just me smoking in the house for the most part..
The letter is as follows:
"We have recently been receiving concerns that there has been an abnormal amount of cigarette smoking coming from your apartment at all hours of the day and night. As stated in your Leasing Agreement, section 9-D. Resident parties shall not engage in unlawful, improper, unreasonable, or prohibited behavior, all of which shall be a breach of this Lease, including the disturbing, infringing upon, adversely affecting or threatening the rights, comfort, health, safety, property or convenience of others in or near the community. With this being said we must insist that you respect the rights of other residents and keep the amount of smoke down to a minimum."
So.. if this is legal somehow, are they saying they have the right to control how many cigarettes we smoke? Or that we have to go outside our own home, where we pay rent, where smoking is allowed? It just all doesn't add up to me. Anyone with some legal knowledge who could give me some input would be much appreciated. Thank you.yes I am allowed to smoke inside my apt. The tenant before me did as well. I don't have a balcony or anything, our entrances are inside a hallway. So, this is basically saying I could complain about anyone in the builing for whatever I want and they're going to get into trouble? It seems to me there should be some proof of something before action is taken.
moreVoting Question: How worried should I be about a shoplifting offence in Canada?
I am looking to get some advice from those who have the knowledge about a very embarrassing predicament.
I will lay it all out in front of you, and if you feel you can offer me some guidance and advice, it will be highly appreciated. Last week, on my way home from work, I lost my water bottle and thought I’d get a new one. I wandered into a store, which is steps away from my apartment and picked up a bottle and also a box of chocolates. Made a huge lapse in judgement and now that I look back, it was a very weak and low moment for me that I walked out of the store with both the things in my hands. I can list a host of things in the past week that made me feel so vulnerable and low in self esteem, but I am not sure if that will be helpful now. I don’t even know what I was thinking committing such an act for goods worth 50 bucks only. I am just so very ashamed. I was almost instantly stopped by a staff at the store and taken to the back office, where he took down my details and called the police. I was frightened and apologetic and realised right away the terrible mistake made. I was handed a note that banned me from the store for life, and I just felt, very, very ashamed. The police came after quite some wait, and handed me over a notice of offence, which basically says I need to go in for finger prints and then at a later date to the court.
The cop was rather nice, and told me because I have a clean record, I won’t get a criminal record, but may be handed a form of warning, fine or community service. I just quite don’t know as I am not familiar with how the court system in Canada works and have never done anything like this before. My record is clean and I am just so embarrassed to even share this with anyone.
Would anyone be able to offer any insight into what I should do? This was last Thursday and I don’t want to sit on it any longer. I need to go in for finger prints on Sep 22nd. And then court on Oct 12th.
What are my chances?
If you can please offer some expert advice, I will be extremely grateful. I really don’t want a criminal record. It will be a huge setback for me.
Thanks,
moreResolved Question: Issues with Apartment leasing office?
We had a bad experience with apartment leasing office. We were shown an upgraded apartment but at the time of move in we learned that it was not an upgraded apartment. It was also not cleaned properly and looked very bad. They never mentioned that it is an upgraded apartment in writing anywhere. The management said there was a mistake (not an upgraded apt) on their end so agreed to return application money. We were also not treated well so we took our application check back and moved to another community. We had to go thru some hassles to coordinate last minute relocation changes.
But now there is another problem since I signed up for electricity for that apartment and we received a bill for $50 even though we canceled in time. I called the leasing office and requested to take care of this bill because since we never lived there. But they said since I signed up I have to pay for it. This is in state TX if that matters.
Do I have any legal rights?
Am I going to be responsible for this bill?
Thanks. Also is there any way to cancel the credit inquiry from my credit report because of their mistake? Also my forwarding mails went to this apartment and is there any way I can get those mails? I am concerned of identity if those mails are taken by someone. They said mail box key will not be given.
moreResolved Question: Should I commute to college or rent an apartment even though it costs more?
my community college doesn't have a residence so i either have to commute or rent.
It is a 50 min drive from my house to the college and I am guessing I will fill my tank of gas probably twice a week which would be about 400$/month. And to Rent i am looking at 550$/month plus whatever cable and internet would cost me and food. I am guessing cable and internet would be about 100$/month and food would probably costs 100$/week maybe ? so it is more expensive than commuting but it is more convenient.
What do you think I should do?
moreVoting Question: This is ridiculous ! Can't my friend file a lawsuit/ get a settlement from this SERIOUS situation?
My best friend got a gross misdemeanor a few years back while driving under the influence. This happened ONE time. He served 15 days in jail (which were only on weekends) and did a few hours of community service/AA. He had been trying to get a apartment for a while and when the landlord did a background check to see if he qualified, they called him to tell him his background declared he was a FELON, for murdering 3 people (3 people which are alive) and they are adding more charges the more time goes on. He took the time to look it up himself and sure enough... it had his picture and everything. Claiming him as a serial killer. I find it HARD to believe all that should/could be done is for it to be changed and say "no hard feelings". Apparently this is called a "Defamation of Character" and I am wondering if he should see a attorney and if he would get a settlement out of this cause it is beyond fathomable reasoning.does it even look like a case that would qualify for a reasonable amount?

moreResolved Question: How do I find information on low-income housing in Sacramento?
I don't mean section 8 - I don't have years. I just want a place I can actually afford (not much - reduced/subsidized rent) in a neighborhood that isn't scary. But every site I've been to is incredibly vague and unhelpful, so now I turn to you, dear Yahoo community. What steps should I take? Does this stuff go through the apartment community itself, or through some higher entity? What the heck am I even doing?Just to be clear - I'm NOT talking Section 8. I don't think I'm being needy - I'm 21, work two jobs, and have an education. I just don't make enough to pay $800 a month in rent. I'm looking for advice on how to get someplace that will work for me, not in the ghetto, and not in some creeper's basement (not that they have basements in Sacramento).
moreResolved Question: Anyone feel humanity is a digusting species?
Sometimes I wonder how cool it would be if I were an animal or a tree instead of a human with emotions and facial expressions. It would be interesting to only be worried about eating and breathing and sleeping rather than money and school and grades as well as eating and sleeping and breathing. Just shows how rough humans have it compared to animals. Birds can build nests and dogs can sleep wherever and lions can sleep in caves but humans always feel the need to have a sturdy building to sleep in be it a cottage, house, or apartment, not mentioning at all that the house could always collapse on them and is just another hassle in itself because it will always break down and require lots of expensive and backbreaking work to keep it from coming down. So it is like there is almost no point after awhile. Besides sometimes humans can be so cruel to each other and animals alike and use that as their amusement otherwise they are bored. Humans use their minds to divide and conquer each other rather than saying we are the same species so we should all at least TRY to be on good terms with each other. It's just real sad, so I'd rather be an animal or a plant. Guess I'm just not cut out to be part of my own species. So I guess I don't belong in the human community because it is such a destructive community to be a part of. Besides I'm an introvert and like to be alone, but most people around me are loud and extroverted.
moreResolved Question: Is Lowe's a good first-time job?
I have been looking for a part time job and have had no luck whatsoever. I will be a full time student at community college starting end of September. I have no experience and know next to nothing about home improvement and repair. The Lowe's center hiring may also be a little difficult for me to get to; I don't have a car and it is off the bus route.
But I really need a job. Nobody contacted me back. I'm 19 and living with my mom and younger sister. I'm taking out student loans. I want a car by the end of spring and hopefully a small apartment for the next school year.
moreVoting Question: Our car is stolen the other day parked behind a gated apartment community, can we sue?
The apartment has a 24 hr. surveillance camera. The camera showed that the car left the parking garage at around 3 am. But unfortunately it was too dark to make anyone out. We've not recovered the car, sadly. We don't feel safe in the apartment as it is supposed to be a secured apartment complex. Nobody can just come in without a fob to open gates to get inside the community. If we can sue, can we at least break the lease?
moreResolved Question: pros and cons of getting a ged while pregnant?
I'm 16 almost 17 i'm 13 weeks pregnant and in my junior year of high school. My baby's father who is also my Fiance is in college working towards his business degree. We have made an arrangement with his parents to turn there unfinished basement into an apartment which we will be paying rent on every month so that way we are a little more independent and have our own place with out the concern of not knowing who we are living near, we felt that this was safer for me and the baby while i'm on home-bound and alone at nights. Money wise we wouldn't struggle to much if i decided to finish and get my diploma but right now it seems better if i could work and start college. because all i keep thinking about is who will watch the baby during the day while i'm in school. My fiance is going to school full time and will be done by next year he also is working full time which he has been before I got pregnant so that's nothing new for us. He will be able to put the baby on his insurance so that's a big relief to know he/she is covered. I myself wanna be able to get a part-time job to just have extra money to put aside in the event he loses his job or gets his hours cut. The only way i'd be able to be a mom work and be a student is if i got my ged and started online classes at my local community college to get my basics and then take the nursing program at the 4 year college. I was just curious as to what the upsides and downsides are to getting my ged instead of my diploma. i don't want what organizations say the statistics are. I want what real mothers or parents who chose this have struggled with or what they have succeeded with. I know money will be an issue for years until we get established and we have made that clear to both our families that we understand there will be struggles but that we will only ask for help if it is absolutely needed cause we both feel we need to step up and learn to be adults since we wanted to act like adults. We are no longer just teenagers we are providers and parents and we accept that and want to do whats best for ourselves and our baby.
moreResolved Question: I got a noise complaint - what can I do?
I apologize in advance for the long explanation. So I live in an apartment on the second floor. In the 3+ years I've lived in apartments I've never had a complaint. I've been here for over 3 months and I've never had a "party". I've only had my family here a couple times during the day and ONE friend here ONE time. It's just me and I like to think I'm careful about what I do. A couple weeks ago, I was putting sheets on my bed around midnight. My bed is in the middle of the room, so I didn't move it around. I wasn't even finished and I heard my downstairs neighbor banging on their ceiling right below me. This was the only time I've put sheets on my bed at that time of night. I got so worried that I'd get/had gotten a complaint so I emailed the office that night and called them the next morning. They said they hadn't gotten a complaint but they would talk to the neighbor. The office staff have been nice and helpful to me. When I got home from work that day I found a note on my door from my neighbor. Basically what they said was that they'd appreciate if I was more aware of the noise I make at night and that it sounds like I'm constantly dropping/banging things. I wrote them a note back explaining that I was only making my bed when I heard their banging. I explained how I never have anyone over and that I don't understand how walking around or doing chores could make so much noise. I did not get a response to my note. Since then I've been practically tip-toeing and I'm very afraid to do anything in my apartment. Well, last night I was laying in bed and I heard them banging on the ceiling again! When I got home from work today, I had a "notice of lease violation" on my door for the noise. It stated that excessive noise and disturbance were reported and that there is loud banging at late hours of the evening and early morning. So I have to call the manager within 24 hours and "take the action necessary to correct the foregoing problem immediately". I have no problem talking to the manager - she is nice and has helped me a lot in the past including when I heard the banging a couple weeks ago. My concern is: what on earth can I do to not get another complaint? How can I "correct" it? I can't float around my apartment! I am paranoid that every little thing I do makes noise! Making my bed, doing dishes, taking a shower, just walking around! I work during the day so of course I'm going to do these things at night! I read the community policies and it says to make a complaint about noise, the steps are basically: 1) contact the person making noise. 2) contact the office. 3) contact the police. If my neighbor's already done 1 and 2, the next one is 3! The last thing I want is for the police to come here. And all they'd find is me in an empty apartment! The best solution I can think of is to move to an apartment on the first floor! I'd rather deal with noise above me than constantly worry about the people below me! But I'm not sure if they have a first floor available right now. I'm worrying myself sick and it's hard to concentrate on my school work. I don't even want to be in my own apartment! I can't live with the constant worry. I don't want any more communication with the neighbor - I don't want any more notes on my door - I just want to be left alone.masterandoverlord: if you read the whole thing, you'd know i figured that out. as i said, making my bed at midnight was a one-time thing. so, you're the moron.
to everyone else: thank you
moreResolved Question: Stressed over college and career choices?
In the past week I have had two complete nervous breakdowns because of college related stress. My boyfriend and I recently moved into our first apartment, and we've paid all of our bills on time, had no issues that were very big until the fall semester started and within the first week not only did I have to dish out fifteen hundred dollars out of pocket because the university lost a paper that was required to verify class payment, now I'm finding out that I have signed up for a major VERY wrong for me.
I've had two years college experience prior to transferring to my current university. I was at a community college and they were far more professional in dealing with financial matters.
I'm going to have grey hair and I'm not even legal drinking age yet..
I chose to major in education to become an elementary teacher when I transferred because I had gotten all of my basics out of the way and I'm very comfortable dealing with young children, not to mention the recent recession had me thinking about jobs that don't normally suffer as much during fluctuations in the economy. Teaching has a great deal of financial security on top of guaranteed vacation time on top of benefits the only downside is the stress factor can be high and it's for a lower end pay. But if it's something I can build off of then it's worth it, or so I thought.
I walk into my classes and come to find out that even my previous science major classes when I had been considering that field were far easier and less stressful than a writing intensive children's literature class. And I'm finding this really ironic and completely horrifying because my best subject has always been literature and English. I've never made less than an A in those classes.
So the problem is now I know I need to change my major as not only am I incapable of taking fifteen hours of complete brain overload classes one of which being Spanish which I didn't want to take in the first place because I'm interested in other languages and hated it in high school. I've spent over two years trying to find out what I want to do for a career or even for a major. I've taken tests on the Internet, tests given by the school, I've searched the Internet, researched book stores, all-in-all gone to great effort to find ANYTHING that I might be interested in but anything I liked was immediately in the "get lucky" category as in you cannot make money in this job unless you have outstanding talent and charisma, both of which I lack--charisma considerably.
I'm artistic, but I don't want to starve. Really it's becoming ridiculous and I'm going to college, wasting my hard earned money in the hopes that I can secure something that will keep me out of debt and then some in the future, but I'm kind of giving up unless I can find something.
I love to draw so I considered some type of design, but if I become a designer I'm afraid I'll grow to hate the hobby I love now because I'll have someone above me, or a client who will say jump and I'll have to ask how high as that is the part they tend to leave out when telling you how wonderful and creative design jobs are. I want some direction yes, but I also want a lot of freedom if I'm using my creative skills in a job.
Also I enjoy writing, but the same issue comes into play there too. I'm a huge video game fan and I think it might be a little fun to be a video game designer because it involves a story, visual, and audio art, but the university I'm attending doesn't offer it, and I can't go somewhere else because my boyfriend is going to school here and I have to consider him as well. (Of course he's thrilled because he's known exactly what he's wanted to do since he was five, be a wildlife biologist.) It isn't that I haven't thought about it, I've thought about what I want to do with my life since as long as I could remember, but every time I came to a conclusion I did a little research and in the end the cons outweighed the pros.
Does anyone have any suggestions? My favorite things to do are clean, organize, draw, read, be early on all of our bills, crochet, create things in general. I just like to have low stress, it gives me a sense of acomplishment as apparently me being stressed out is increasing more and more. Like just now I'm sitting here typing this, heard a car run into something outside and am stressing that some ignorant first year student hit my car which is parked because it's happened before just last year when some idiot ripped the front bumper off of my parked car because they weren't paying attention.
Anyway sorry if I sounded overly pessimistic, I'm just really stressed and I want to know if college is a waste of time and if I shouldn't just go to a tech school or something. If anyone has any potential career or major suggestions Not to be rude, but only give HELPFUL answers or just don't answer. I'm tired of sifting through spam (That carekorner crap is spam by the way. I just looked it up. They were already having issues with it on this site.)
moreVoting Question: Guys: Can you help me figure out what to do?
So I'm technically still married, but my husband and I are in the middle of a divorce and I THOUGHT we'd agreed to move on. He cheated on me and I just can't trust him anymore. We're still trying to be friends, though, and I don't like to hurt him.
A few weeks ago I was drinking with some friends at the pool in my apartment community. There was a group of guys who came down and joined us. We've hung out with them before so I kinda knew them. I was in my bikini and started dancing with one guy and he was running his hands over my sides and back. My sister started SCREAMING at both of us so we just walked over to his apartment to get away from her stupid drama. We went in his room and were making out. He kept going on and on about how I'm too hot and he's seen the guy I was with and I'm too hot for him so I should come to his apartment more often. Meanwhile my sister called my ex "husband"?.. and got him all riled up. He showed up at the guy's door half drunk and threatening to kick his ass. I didn't want any more drama so I kissed the new guy goodbye and left. I figured we could talk in the morning once I got my drunk "husband" calmed down.
So it's been several weeks and I haven't heard from the guy I made out with. I've chatted with his friend several times and we've discussed that I'm getting a divorce and I've kicked my sister out because she causes too much drama. I've told the friend that I at least wanted to talk to the guy I made out with and apologize for leaving him hard and horny like that. He said he'd give him my number (the friend has my number and we text a bit, but I don't have the number of the guy I made out with) and tell him to text me. I don't know if this guy regrets it or if he thinks I regret it or what. Honestly I don't even know if the friend gave him my number.
I ran across the guy's FB page the other day and added him. Should I try to casually talk to him and see where it goes? I'd like to at least know why he hasn't spoken to me. I'm not looking for anything serious and it doesn't seem like he is either. I know he doesn't have a gf or wife. I just want someone to have fun with instead of focusing on the end of my marriage. What do you guys think?

I kinda asked this last night, so apologies if anyone is seeing this again.
Anyway, I'm TECHNICALLY still married, but we're both supposed to be moving on. Key word SUPPOSED. That was the agreement.
A few weeks ago I was at the pool at my apartment community drinking with some friends. This group of guys that we've partied with before came down to join us. I was kinda dancing with this one guy and he was running his hands over my sides and back (I had my bikini on) My sister started SCREAMING at me and him. I can't stand drama, espcially not drunk drama, so the guy and I walked over to his apartment and went in his room. One thing led to another and next thing I know we're in his bed almost naked. He kept going on and on about how I'm too hot for that guy and he's seen me around and I should come to his apartment more often. In the meantime my sister called my ex (husband, ? whatever) and got him all upset. He showed up at this guy's door threatening to kick his ass. I just left to avoid any further drama. I figured we could straighten things out in the morning.
So it's been several weeks and I haven't heard from this guy. He knows I wanted to talk to him and at least apologize for leaving him hard and horny, but he hasn't texted me or anything. I've run into his friend a couple times and we've chatted about how I'm getting a divorce and my "husband" wasn't supposed to show up. We've also chatted about how I finally kicked my sister out because she causes too much drama. I still don't know how the guy I made out with felt the next morning. I know he doesn't have a girlfriend or a wife, but I don't know if he regretted it or thought I'd regret it or what. I appreciate that he doesn't want more drama. Neither do I, but I would assume his friend has talked with him and mentioned that my husband won't be showing up anymore and that my sister has been kicked out.
I ran across this guy's FB page and added him the other day. Should I try to casually talk to him and see what he says? I'm not really looking to start anything serious, but he's fun and he seems like the kind of guy I could have fun with and not be too serious about. I just want to move on, but without getting in too deep.By the way: We're divorcing because he cheated on me. As much as he hurt me, I don't want to hurt him back. That's why I left this new guy and went to talk to the guy who is technically still my husband. I hate to see him hurting, but I can't trust him anymore after what he did.

moreResolved Question: I'm kind of depressed, how can I give life meaning?
I'm a 19 year old guy in my second year of community college.
I feel like I should be happy, but I'm really not. My grandma has offered to have me stay with her while I go to college near her hometown, and I'm able to afford tuition out of pocket since I don't need to pay for an apartment. I'm also in classes that I find interesting - I really don't know what more I could want.
I'm getting kind of depressed though. I feel like I don't have any friends or anyone to talk to - all my friends are people I know over the internet or are far away at other colleges. I've only been at this place for a week, but I don't feel like I "click" with anyone I've talked to yet. I am kind of shy, but I've also approached plenty of people so far and didn't feel anything after a quick conversation. Every club and concert band meets in Tuesday, which is a day I'm not on campus and don't want to go just for socializing due to the long drive. I have one friend living in the city where my college is, but he's always busy when I call to ask him to do something.
I always feel like time is running out in my life. Nothing I used to find exciting seems meaningful to me, as it won't get me anywhere in the future. Everything about my life just seems plain and boring. I have no major, just liberal arts, and nothing I'm considering can lead anywhere but academia.
I really don't know what to do now.
moreVoting Question: Guys: I'm confused about how I should act?
So let me say first off that I'm technically still married, but am in the process of divorce. I am looking to move on and not focus on the end so much as a new beginning.
A few weeks ago I was down at the pool here at my apartment community. I was drinking with some friends and then a group of guys from another apartment came down and joined us. I started kinda dancing with this one guy and he was running his hands over my sides and back (I was wearing my bikini) So my sister got all pissed off and started SCREAMING at us. I don't deal with drunken drama so we went back to this guy's apartment and started making out. (Let me just clarify, though, that this guy was not a stranger. We'd met several times before and partied together several times. Our apartments are right across from each other) So anyway, we were getting hot and heavy in his bed and he kept going on about how I'm way too hot for that other guy and I should come to his apartment more often. Meanwhile my sister called my husband and got him all angry so he showed up at this guy's door threatening to kick his ass. I just left this guy hard and horny as hell because I didn't want any more drama.
I haven't spoken to this guy since then. I've seen his friend around a lot and his friend has told me that he's asked the guy to text me because I wanted to apologize for the drama and for just walking out. I assume he's told the friend that I told him I was separated and getting divorced, but I'm not sure since I haven't talked to the guy.
I ran across his FB profile a few days ago and added him. I'm wondering if I should try to casually talk to him if he accepts my friend request. I'm not sure why he hasn't spoken to me since that night. I know he doesn't have a gf or a wife and his friend said he passed on my apology so I don't know why he won't even face me!
Thoughts? Advice?True. However, I finally kicked my sister out of my apartment (whole other set of issues) and my divorce is closer than it was a month ago!
I just wish he'd SAY something instead of making me wonder if he regrets it or if he's backing off to avoid drama or if he's shy or what!

My mom blames me for my "bad" choices in deciding not to complete the second semester because I was suicidal. My dad lives in a different state for his job because we're broke and really need the money. So I go to a community college and work. My mom has to drive me every where we only have one car and it's a clunker. I have two younger sisters so i've been paying my mom to keep the house we live in and the car so far she owes me 2,100 dollars and swears to pay it back. I haven't seen a penny of it so far and it's been a few months, but right now she says we're just still too poor and my parents went bankrupt. I was never able to use the car, or get my drivers license which is embarrassing. My boyfriend is coming to visit me in a few weeks, and I want to sleep over at his moms apartment . My mom is trying to say I will go to hell because we're christian and that it's only 2 months but I truly love this man with all my heart. Also she's guilting me out of it by saying I am setting a terrible example for my little sister. What can I do? I'm so trapped all I can do is work and go to school and i'm not even allowed to have sex, or buy a car. My mom keeps taking all my money. I worry if I disobey her there will be hell to pay. She says she can't believe she has raised an ignorant ass of a girl like me.
moreResolved Question: Non-Asian/Indian people: Do you find that Indian/Asian people treat you differently/rudely?
I'm biracial black/white...I've heard I look either Hispanic or Hawaiian/Polynesian. A lot of people say I'm beautiful and I am hit on a lot. This is mostly black/mexican/white guys...my point in adding this is that the reason I'm being treated weirdly can't be that I look bad.
I feel so unselfconsciouss around Asian and Indian people because of the way I've been treated. They act like they want nothing to do with me. I see Asian families with their kids and they'll see me and grab their kids hand and head off in another direction or the family will just stop talking/stop everything. Little Asian children stare at me often, sometimes with a glare. My sister went into the apartment complex's computer room yesterday where a young Indian boy and his mom were reading. Suddenly he whispers to his mom "I want to go home. I don't want to be in here anymore. Mom, please...let's go" and he continually looked back over at my sister. Everyone in our area(we live in the bay area of Cali) is Asian or Indian...I hardly see any white people(which is sad to me because I get along well with them whereas Asian/Indian people seem to group amongst themselves) I had an Indian couple over today looking to buy a piece of furniture and when I asked how they were doing, they didn't answer...I gave the man a measuring tape and when he was through he simply held out his arm with it dangling over his two fingers in a "take it, my inferior" manner. They weren't up for talking; when I tried, they looked at me like I was weird. It was so awful. I'm so sick of it. I hate the strange looks I get here...it makes me feel like trash, like they expect me to go back to the projects. I feel like it's because I look mexican or light-skinned black and there are hardly any in this area.
I had a lot of Asian friends and a few Indian in another area we lived in Cali, where the Asian students were not immigrants(they were Americanized)...the HS I went to senior year, near this area, was 70% Asian and 11% Filipino. I've heard there is racism among Asian immigrant families toward black people... I just really don't know what to do. I'm going to start at the community college here and don't know anyone...I don't know what to do if I'm treated like this by most of the other students.Ha, I don't! It sucked cause I took up an interest in the Indian culture recently and then to see I'm not really good enough for them is crap.Woah at the "unselfconciouss" up there...I double checked "self-conscious" with spell check and it gave me that...?Haha, no I really do look Hispanic or Hawaiian....I've been asked often if I'm Hawaiian. I have more white features facially than black, no butt, and I straighten my hair, wear it down and long. I went to an all white HS for a year in Southern Oregon, in which I believe there were only 5 black people, three of which were biracial. I didn't have trouble there at all...I've actually experienced less racism with white people than other races. I don't "act" black. I'm not overreacting...I don't claim I've been beaten or fear getting beat. I'm simply saying we're avoided and treated as inferior. They keep at such a distance. It's pissy because I love different cultures yet other cultures are only willing to open up to their own. Here(Polynesian women who look bi-race black/white like me): http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/rbrb_1690/Photodisc

moreResolved Question: Do conservatives think public parks are socialist?
In my city there's a large park over 600 acres near the beach that is both a community park for the people and a wildlife estuary for birds.
However, it's very valuable land due to its location -- it's in an affluent area, near the beach, near a marina, near a university, and near luxury condos & shopping areas. And a lot of land developers are itching to build on it.
Environmentalists ("liberals") were the ones who prevented it from being built on so it could remain a bird estuary. It now belongs to the state government of California. But capitalist land developers are still trying to override this so they can destroy the estuary and put up condos, retail, and restaurants.
Which led me to ponder how it represents an allegory of the ongoing ideological struggle between nutty capitalist conservatives and the "socialist" liberals.
The park - a public, not-for-profit area to be shared by the community, which is run & owned by the government to be shared amongst the people.
The other side are the capitalist land developers - private enterprises that want to place businesses there for profit, which would compete amongst each other and grow the local economy, providing jobs & services for the people.
Ideologically speaking, wouldn't conservatives be against the park since it is run by the government and "socialist", and be in favor of condos & shopping malls placed there instead?
Ultimately this just reveals the ridiculousness of conservative ideologues using the world "socialist" or "government" as a scare-tactic, and feel they always must be against government-anything or any social service that is shared amongst the people.
Imagine if only capitalist conservatives oversaw the layout of NYC -- government-owned Central Park would not exist... in its place would be more private hotels, bars, apartments, strip clubs, and restaurants.Vidar: Does it matter if it's state or federal? It's still anti-capitalist. Secondly, why not use "federal" in place of "state park" for argument's sake. How does that change my argument at all. A federal park like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone prevents capitalist land developers from building casinos and high-rise condos & apartments there.

moreResolved Question: Can people with sickle cell anemia live normal lives?
My girlfriend has sickle cell anemia. This is a very serious condition, which makes it difficult (but not impossible) to live a normal life. The drugs they give her on a daily basis are enough to knock out a circus full of elephants.
She lives with her parents. She doesn't work. She has taken 10 years to finish her community college degree. We have also had situations where she was late or had to cancel dates because her parents would let her leave because chores weren't done or other reasons.
I've had a friend that has the same condition. He did work, but lived in an apartment owned by his sister & did't always pay her rent. This condition affects people differently. Some people die at young ages from this condition, and some live to old age.
My experience and training has taught me that if a grown woman doesn't have her own place, a career (by this age), and can't make decisions for herself that I should move on. However, I'm not sure if I should make an exception for this woman.

We messed around years ago, lost contact & now things are on a deeper level before. Years ago at 24, it didn't matter to me if she was living with her parents.
moreResolved Question: Suggestions please. What would you like to receive?
I am the Leasing Manager at an apartment community and we give away free gifts for residents who pay their rent on time. We've done small things like free ice cream cones from dairy queen, umbrellas, tickets for free car washes, rent coupons, calculators. What would you like to receive for free in this situation? That doesnt cost a lot of money. We do gifts for the first 50 residents.

moreResolved Question: I would like to move out of state will student loans help me accomplish this?
Hi,
So i've been thinking a lot about moving back to where i was born. I currently live in California and the cost of education is ridiculous and i was thinking about going to community college but i have been playing with the idea of moving back to where i was born and raised in Oregon. I was wondering if i got student loans and went to school up there if this would pay for me to get an apartment with some roomates of course until i could get a job or if i would have to find another way to pay for a place before i would be able to use the money and actually get an apartment. I just graduated high school this past spring and im new to the ideas of furthering my education, loans, and living on my own.
My best friend in Oregon and i have been talking about moving in together and apartments up there are a lot cheaper than down here in California. So if someone who is informed on loans and such could give me some advice i would HIGHLY appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
Please no rude comments.
I'm just trying to figure out how i can accomplish moving back to where i feel i truly belong.
