Voting Question: can my laptop run Team Fortress 2?
i have an Dell Inspiron 1525 with these specs:
an intel t2390 pentium dual core at 1.86 ghz
a 15.4" widescreen with a 1280 × 800 resolution
3 gigs of ram
integrated Intel GMA X3100 graphics
and a 220 gig hard drive
i was wondering if i could run tf2 at a PLAYABLE AND ENJOYABLE speed.
And please, dont give me that "can you run it?" site, i honestly dont trust it.TheBigBen, i didn't mean to offend you.also, can these specs run gary's mod?
moreVoting Question: What's a good Desktop for me?
My PC's on it's last legs guys. Had it for around 6 years, and it keeps breaking and blue screening on me. Sure, I can still run Skype and Firefox, but meh. It has a 70gb HDD, come on.
If I had, say, a £350-£450 price range, [preferably a bit lower that 450, but meh] and I wanted a dual core at minimum, what would you guys reccomend for me? I have no idea where to look.
I use my PC on a regular basis, like, daily. I use it for games but nothing massive, e.g, MMO's and CS:S, TF2, etc. I also use skype as said and the internet obviously. I download alot of stuffs as well so a nice harddrive size would be cool [200 Gb + ?] and room for up to 4, maybe 6gb ram would be good also.
Sorry if I'm being picky here XD.

moreVoting Question: Four Questions About Team Fortress 2 and GMod?
I'm really interested in possibly buying TF2 because of what my friends have said about it, but I know very little about the game. Also, one of my friends advised me to buy both TF2 and GMod. The following questions apply to both TF2 and GMod.
1) Is it a download or a PC? When I tried to buy it on Steam, it asked me for my address...

3) Is there a monthly fee?
4) This question doesn't apply to TF2 or GMod, but will I be able to install Steam on the given computer? (As you can see, I know nothing about computers)
ThanksThanks, that was really helpful. I don't really care about GMod, but do you know if TF2 will run on the computer? I'm a little confused about the graphics card, because the description just says it has intel graphics. will that be enough? Also, I plan on using this computer. I won't be able to get another computer.

moreResolved Question: Which pc is better for gaming?
I am looking for a pc that runs great with WoW , Aion, TF2, l4d, etc. Graphics all set to the maximum possible. Considering the recession, I have built two different pcs in cyberpowerpc.com and I'm not really the computer type of guy so I can't determine the difference between them... What I can determine are their prices and their nothing alike- my economic version is $600 and my badass version is $1200 but you know I want a good computer so setteling for something not so great isn't my thing, if the $1200 is a million times better than I'd rather work my ass off than buy a $600 pc that won't be as satisfying or that will just mess up soon after I use it... So I really enjoy the "eye-candy" a game has to offer( it's pretty much the only reason I play) so I wouldn't want to be deprived of some awsome graphics.
Anyway here are the pc specs starting with the cheapest one

Alright, I have had tf2 for about a year now, have had some issues but nothing severe. In the past week, I have been lagging out of so many games and it gets to the point where I don't even want to play it anymore. The problem is not my computer, this thing was built for gaming. (Intel dual-core processor:2.40 ghz)(8800 gt graphics card). Please tell me why this is happening, and what I can do to fix this.

moreResolved Question: Is 1,5MB good enough for hosting a dedicated TF2 server?
Hi, as I said in my last question, I hosted a dedicated server for Team Fortress 2. So, I checked out how fast my uploading speed is for my modem, its 54kb XD. Now, I found a new modem for $49, It can be for 25MB speed and its 1,5MB uploading speed. Will 1,5MB be enough for 32 players? Because I found that a 32 players server needs:
256Kbps Upstream ---- 1-4 players
384Kbps Upstream ---- 4-8 players
512Kbps Upstream ---- 8-10 players
768Kbps Upstream ---- 12-18players
1024Kbps Upstream ----20-24 players
Cpu requipments:You will need at list a single core of 2,4 Ghz but a dual core will be the best solution.
Ram minimum requipments:
256MB Ram ----4-8 players
768MB Ram ----10-18 players
1024MB Ram ----20-26 players
1536MB Ram ----28-32 players
And I got 2GB RAM and the modem will be 1,5MB uploading speed. I'm getting it tomorrow, please answer me fast as possible before regretting. Thanks.

moreResolved Question: Will this play Team Fortress 2?
Hello.
I bought TF2 on my old computer, along with Garys Mod. My old computer was OLD, and had specs, something like
2.4GHZ single core
AGP graphics card (256mb radeon 9800 pro)
1.5gb DDR1 ram
80gb HDD.
XP
I am looking to buy a new laptop with these specs:
CPU - AMD Athlon™ II Dual-Core Processor for Notebook PCs M300 (2.0GHz, 1MB L2 Cache)
Display Panel - 15.6" Diagonal High Definition HP Brightview Display (1366x768)
Standard Memory - 4096MB DDR2 (2 Dimm)
Hard Drive - 320GB 7200RPM
Optical Drive - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD±R⁄RW with Double Layer Support
Networking⁄Wireless - 802.11b⁄g WLAN Integrated 10⁄100 LAN
Graphics - ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4330 with 512MB dedicated
Operating System - Windows® 7™ Home Premium
My old computer would play garys mod at lowest settings... pretty bad and didnt have very high frame rate in a proper map. TF2, I put lowest resolution, quality, everything and I could play Two towers with a smooth frame rate, but as soon as more than 4 or 6 people entered, it was two hard again. I was able to play Portal and Half life DM fine on medium settings though.
Will this new computer play TF2 smoothly, on what settings? thank youEDIT. When I wrote two towers, I was thinking of Combat Arms. I could play that fine on default settings, and I could play WOW on lowest settings fine until I entered a large city with a lot of players.
The map wasnt two towers, its 2fort.
moreResolved Question: Advice on a motherboard & OS upgrade?
I'm looking to replace my motherboard with a more up to date one that can handle Dual-Core tech. Here are my current specs
Motherboard - Intel D925XCV
CPU - Intel P4 2.8 GHz 800 FSB
RAM - 2X 1GB DDR2 RAM (2GB total)
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon X600 XT 128MB (Going to upgrade this as well)
Power Supply - 480 Watt
Basically I would like to be able to play games like Aion, WoW, and TF2. Is there a good motherboard in the 200-300 range that maybe comes in a package with processors and all? Ive never done anything like this before, but I know enough about computers that I dont want to pay the Geek Squad to do it for me for 80 bucks an hr. It's running on XP right now, but I want to do a perfectly clean install of Windows 7. Theres nothing on the computer worth saving so backup or lost data is not an issue. Basically if there's not a cost effective way to do it I will end up buying a 3.8Ghz Pentium 4 and sticking it on the motherboard and upgrading my video card. But I would much rather have dual core. Anybody have any suggestions or links I can check out to help me on my quest? Thanks!!!

and i dont know how "cooled" a processor needs to be when its running a game (TF2)i got this computer itself like a year ago so i dont think its that outdated. im on a stock intel motherboard and the socket is 775 (i thought the fan and the heatsink were the same thing). so far i havent seen any problems with overheating as i dont know what to look for either so im not sure id need the fan but then i dont know anything about this stuff either

moreResolved Question: a CPU or GPU upgrade?
I don't know much, so i was just going to ask before i fry anything.
PC setup:
500 watt PSU
ASUS m2npv-vm mother board
2 gigs ram
My CPU is a AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4k+ 2.10 Ghz.
and
My GPU is a ATI Radeon 3850 HD
When i run a game like TF2, or borderlands i get about 20-30 fps with med. settings. my CPU usage runs at about 80% or higher with RAM useage at 1.5-8 gigs. And when i run podcaster for livestream the fps bogs down to 15, and 10 is bright areas.
so, any ideas on what i should upgrade first? (feel free to ask for more info)Crap sorry, forgot to add i'm on a 32bit vista OS. I heard it can only hold 2gigs max on ram, anything more it doesn't read. True or false?

moreResolved Question: CPU Bottleneck help please?
Hi guys, bought a new comp after 5 years...didn't pay much for it, so its basic.
I bought an aftermarket v-card (BFG 9800gt) ..I was a bit concerned that it would bottleneck my computer, and I have a really good idea that it is.
For an example, running TF2 I get 100-120 FPS without any action or other people on the screen, soon as I see someone it drops to 50-60, then in battle, 20-30 fps. It's playable, but somewhat disappointing.
I have a decent idea on what my computer specs are, but not detailed.
MSI V-tech mobo with a 7750 dual core processor (my bottleneck?)
2 gig ram...not sure the brand or speeds,ddr2 I believe.
9800 gt 1gb (eco version)
550 watt ps (believe its a BFG as well)
I run my video card on high performance with AA/AF off etc...
The game is set to "autoconfig" 1024res not much turned on etc..
Is there another processor I can replace my 7750 with that will help? more Ram?
thinking its impossible to put a quad-core processor in replace of the 7750 without buying a new mobo..
anyways, your thoughts please! :)
moreVoting Question: Do I need a new processor?
I bought a manufactured Desktop a few months ago without gaming in mind. Now I'm really into TF2, and only get 10-15 fps.
It has a nvidia Ge71000 graphics card and a 300w power supply
I'm planning on getting this graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143150
And a new power supply
I have a Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor.
I can't afford to get a new rig or computer
Would this be fine and if not, what processor should I get that's good and not expensive?
moreResolved Question: What is the best gaming PC for me?
I am looking to purchase a game computer that can run PC games at their maximum specs (Aion, TF2, Prototype, etc.) My budget is looking like $1,100 or under (whether or not you want to include monitor in that is up to you but i do not think i need a new one.) I was looking to build my one, but I'm far from knowledgeable about that type of thing so I place my hopes on your shoulders yahoo! answers, i really need you!!
I read a lot of things recommending dual core processors and dual video cards, but I dont know the expense of those things. I also want the computer to be upgradable down the road, but that is one of the less important requests.
!!!! Bonus if you can recommend the best site you know of that sells trusted gaming computers!!!!!!!! (alienware, vigor, digitalstorm, etc.)BUMP

I ordered my laptop (Samsung R720) for my new school next year. Other then being able to run Visual C++ etc, i want to know if im able to play some games.
These are the specs ;

ATI Radeon HD4330, 512 MB DDR3
4 GB (DDR2 / 2GBx2)
Im just wondering if i can take games like CoD4/ TF2 on low or even demigod, not even a high resolution if i must. I don't have the need for like recent pc games, like GTA4, i would be pleased enough to play a little BF2 or Cs 1.6 if i must.
Thanks if someone got some experience with this kind of setup or video card.

Antec - EarthWatts 650-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply
Will these fit in the case?

However, when I play on my own computer even on the lowest setting, it still has a bit of lag.
I've been planning on buying a new graphics card and a power supply to accompany it, but I was wondering if I need anything else.
Here's my current set-up:
4GB Ram
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2500

So I don't know the power supply and the size of it's graphics card(In inches). Knowing these would help

I recently bought team fortress 2 because its an awesome game. The next couple of times it completely shutdown my system and i had to reboot...After some time i reinstalled the game and i modded the launch settings. Please give me advice because i want to not have to waste more money from now on..after the new purchaseBy the way..My power supply is a 250 watt PSU. My PC is an eMachines W3653 PCThis is really frustrating..i do not want to waste money any more and my mom would be pissed if i do...ill buy a Sparkle GeForce 7200 GS 256Mb graphics card....please respond
moreResolved Question: A Gaming Computer For 650 Euros/£550/$915 or less?
Tied for cash and need to know if I can build my own computer for less than 650 euro.
Parts not needed: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and OS.
Parts I need:
*(Don't care about makes as long as it all works together nicely)*
~Motherboard--Able to have items added in future.
~CPU--Intel or AMD I don't mind.(Dual Core/Phenom II or above though)
~Memory--4GB RAM (2 times 2 preferred).
~Hard Drive--250GB or bigger but will settle for less if its a bargain.
~Graphics Card--Able to run TF2 at full spec.
~Case--Somewhat big, Good upgrade potential and doesn't have to be flashy.
~Cooler--Don't care about Loudness as long as it does job well.
~Power Supply--Depends on above.
Links to Bundle Deals or sites would be appreciated. Also I live in Ireland so if you could factor in postage from th US or the UK or anywhere else that'd be great. First time building my own computer so any tips would be very much appreciated :D.
