Resolved Question: Using VGA switch mechanism to switch between dual monitors & an LED TV?

Hello - I am trying to get a VGA switch box to switch between dual monitors on my computer and my LED TV - with only one computer. Is this possible? I would like to play movies from my computer but watch them on my LED TV, and easily switch back to my dual monitors for regular computer use with just the flip of a switch. Could someone tell me how I would set up the VGA switch box with the dual monitors and the LED TV - and if the resolution of my TV and monitors would cause a problem, or how I could take steps to fix the resolution problem? Thank you. more

Resolved Question: Enabling dual sound for the HDMI?

Having configured dual monitor option in Nvidia panel, I was able to turn HDMI ON, but the audio coming is only from the TV itself, whether it is turned off or on (the TV). I wish it was either dual sound coming from both, so that when you want to hear from only one - you mute the other one, either it would something of an easy option to switch between where I want to input my audio. I tried everything in the Audio configurations already, nothing worked so far, upgraded drivers, using windows XP sp3 and GT610 video card. Thanks in advance.Ehh, well I saw those similar solutions to yours, but they're all for windows 7 which makes it significantly easier to configure =/ more

Resolved Question: Why do people like Microsoft's newer OS's like Windows 7 and 8 but absolutely hate Vista?

So people, please tell me why???? I mean, I have always thought Windows Vista was the best operating system Microsoft has released to date next to Windows XP and Windows 98. I'll tell you why: Windows Vista has features such as more built in programs such as Windows Mail, Photo Gallery, and Movie Maker; even XP has these and Windows 7 doesn't even at least have an email client of any sort. Windows Vista required no more resources than Windows 7 or 8 currently do. You still need 2GB or more RAM and a dual core processor to run any of these 3 recent Windows versions efficiently. If you have old hardware before Vista was released and the hardware is not compatible, the same would happen in Windows 7 and 8 so I don't get that as a legit reason for the Vista hating either. Windows Vista is the last version to have classic start menu. Windows 7 have the classic start menu as an option but still has the newer style one, Windows 8's start menu is ditched altogether in favor of the start screen with tiles. Windows Vista is about equally secure to Windows 7 and 8. The User Account Control has never bothered me but if it bothers you, you can turn it off if you know what you're doing on your computer. Windows 7 and 8 still have User Account Control no different and it can also be turned off the same exacty way. This is more of an opinion, but Windows Vista by default was the last version of Windows that doesn't have a confusing task bar. Quick launch was there on the right side and the tasks were on the right side. Very simple. (Don't get me started on how Windows 7 and 8 can get quick launch back and that you can reconfigure the task bar the older style) Windows Vista and 7 are the last versions of Windows ever to have Aero glass interface. I understand that Windows 8 has it left out in classic desktop because to keep consitency with "Modern UI". Windows 8 doesn't even have a Windows classic theme anymore (I don't care for it anyways ever since I went past XP but some might want classic interface as an option) Windows 7 and lower are the last versions to be all point and click desktop interface where as Windows 8 has some touch and point and click put into one OS. Windows Vista and 7 were the last versions of Windows to have Flip 3D to switch tasks (Win key + tab). Windows 8 leaves this out in classic desktop but still has Alt-tab command for 2D task switching. Conclusion: Only good things about later versions of Windows that Vista doesn't have: Windows 7 has TRIM support built in for SSD support Windows 8 is designed for touch screens Windows 8 has built in USB 3.0 support (Vista and 7 can get it with update and third party drivers) Windows 8 is multi monitor friendly in classic desktop with a task bar on each extended Window and doesn't require third party software to achieve such functionality. (Vista and 7 need third party software for this) Windows 7 and 8 support the 64 bit Flash player where as even Windows Vista 64 bit still has to use the 32 bit Flash player no matter what. Windows 7 (soon to will) and Windows 8 can get Internet Explorer 10 Windows 7 and 8 can get Microsoft Office Windows 7 and 8 have Windows Media Player 12 but Vista is limited to Media Player 11 Windows 7 has built in Direct X 11 (Vista can still get it, but it's not built in and needs to be downloaded) Windows 8 has built in Direct X 11.1 Biggest thing, unless you have an SSD, some of those Vista issues can be minor but Vista is still a good OS today, especially with SP2 with Platform Update. Just back in 2007, people overracted on why they really hated Vista. more

Resolved Question: need help with dual monitors?

I'm trying to make dual monitors out of a TV and my laptop and its not working. The tv is plugged into the desktop via an HDMI. Both the TV and desktop only have one HDMI port. I originally plugged my laptop into the computer via VGA but nothing happened. Tried extending and duplicating screens on both tv and laptop. I then plugged the laptop into the back of the tv via VGA. The tv will detect the vga and I can get my laptop background but thats it. I can't bring over windows or see my icons. And no amount of extending is working. So how can I get my desktop computer background to my laptop and still have the tv so I can have the two monitors? more

Resolved Question: Blank Monitor?? (stays black on startup)?

So, a couple of months ago my sister gave me her computer and I decided to salvage some parts from it including everything but her motherboard and hard drive (casing, graphics card, power supply, DVD ROM). Those two I switched between our computers. I then installed her graphics card on my motherboard. My computer is working. The cables for the other computer were misplaced so I couldn't fix it. A few weeks down the track, I found the cables and plugged everything in the right place. The only thing is... it won't display the screen, not even the start up?! It just stays black with the amber LED on the monitor while i start up the PC. I'm stumped, I can't figure out what it is, whether it's the motherboard or video card that is fried, or something else entirely, but her computer was fine before she left (at least i think it was) and mine was too. I'm certain that when I switched our components I put everything in the right place. I've hit up a few forums to see what people had to say to help others experiencing the same thing but to no avail. I've tried all their advice. I'm completely at a loss for ideas here, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance =)Just Checked to see if it was the motherboard by taking out the RAM. It responded with a long beep so it's not the motherboard. One thing has been ruled out... I'm not sure it is the graphics card. My old one is in there and it was working fine before I changed it over to her motherboard, I'll look into it though... I have not installed it yet, i'll try add the Installation disk to see if it does anything, thank's for the reply. =)I Don't think it's the BIOS as it won't even show the start up screen. I tried it though, left it out for about Five minutes and put it back, nothing happened, still Black. I even tried resetting CMOS but again.. nothing happened. I'm not convinced the components are working though, as it's quite possible I was careless during the change over and the RAM got some static damage. I'll switch over one of my RAM sticks to see if that works and look into identifying which part is causing the issue if not. Thanks for the response =) more

Resolved Question: Which Wi-Fi range extender should I buy? Bottleneck?

I currently have a Linksys E1500 (http://home.cisco.com/en-apac/products/linksys/E1500) connected to my modem on one side of my house, and the signal drops off significantly on the other end of the house, so I'm looking to buy one of these two range extenders from AMPED: 1) SR300 = http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004NBL9WK 2) SR10000 = http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005UBNGY6 My dilemma is: I don't understand the practical differences between the two models. I don't want to purchase a range extender that will bottleneck my router, nor do I want to purchase something that is way overkill. According to the chart, the SR300 has 3dBi antennas (maximum output of 100mW), while the SR10000 has 5dBi antennas (maximum output of 600mW). If someone can please explain to me the significance of those specs, and which one would suit my Linksys E1500 the best, that would be great. more

Resolved Question: How to switch between graphics cards....?

I have bought a laptop... with 2GB GeforceGTX 680M DDR5.... But it doesn't have optimus technology. However, all ivy bridge processors come with Intel HD 4000 graphics stocked.... What is have done is dual booted my system. Win8 PRO for work and WIN7 Ultimate for gaming, On Win8, I have set my configuration for appearance, and turned on battery saving options, And will the MSI, there's this button that slows down the CPU, GPU and fan.... On Win7, my configuration is pure performance, minimal software, almost all features turned off, CPU, GPU and fan button pressed on to boost everything, battery in performance mode... But I also want some longevity.... so is it possible to preset my Win8 to run with the Intel Graphics, and preset the Win7 to run with the 680M? This way I'll only be using my dedicated card when I actually need it..... Is it possible? more

Resolved Question: Im looking for components for a new gaming computer. Help? Suggestions?

So, I want to build myself an awesome gaming computer, and ill also do other stuff on it; painting, music production (hobbys, not professionally, yet :)) and for school. I would also use two or three monitors later. Well, here is what I've found for now: Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z I'd rather take the ASUS Rampage IV Formula but its not compatible with the AMD chips right? If its only Intel, I'm not switching from AMD to it because AMD is a lot cheaper and I think higher quality, Intel is a greedy b***h :) CPU: AMD 8-core FX-8320 Black Edition Graphic Card: Sapphire Toxic HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB A new Radeon is coming early next year, but I don't think it would be better then the sapphire, I don't know. What do you think? I usually wait for stuff, but I don't know if I should wait now, I would like to build this pc in the 1Q of 2013. Optical Drive: ASUS BW-12B1ST Hard Drive: WD Black WD2002FAEX (2 TB, it might come in handy) RAM: now here I got stuck. I want 16GB, but there is also the speed, the CL, the latency timing and whatever else there is with the ram. But what should I pay most attention to? For example I see a kit of 2x8gb with 2133MHz and CL11, and then also 2x8gb but with 1866MHz and CL9. Why isn't there one with 2133MHz AND CL9? Is it possible? I don't know if there are some relationships between some factors, so I would be really grateful if someone would explain in details =3 What's most important to look at? I thought that more memory means faster tasking and response, but now I see all these factors which also affect the speed, so what the f***?! What does each of them represent/mean/effect? Please explain, tnx :) I've been searching around for ram and all about it but I just can't seem to find what I want to know. Also, what is the difference between 2x8gb and 4x4gb, except that 4x4 takes more slots? And what would be the perfect 16gb ram kit? Ok, next is the case. I know I have to pay attention to the different sizes, airflow, noise, ports and other. What brands do you think are the best? There's Antec, Cooler Master, Corsair and others, but which are really good? In quality, struture... Can you suggest some cases for my build? Coolers: For which components would I need a cooler, what should I watch out for, which brands... (i have no idea). Power supply: God damn it, I see Corsair is pretty good, but how do I know what wattage to take? Do I just add up from all the other components? But then for the ram how much power does it need? For one of the Kingston HyperX predators it says:  2.580 W If I know how to read wattage, then Holy shit! And I found the best corsair with 950 Watts - the Corsair Enthusiast Series™ TX950. I don't know about electricity and power so I'm probably wrong here. Help? If you could please see if these are compatible, I was looking for it to be compatible, but I don't know so much about this so I might have missed someyhing. I would also love to know if there is a better solution than mine, maybe there is a better motherboard which I haven't seen that spports all this but has something more for example. And just out of curiosity, what would be 'the best' gaming computer one could build these days (stupid question)? I just want to know what's out there, where has it gone it can be Intel, I don't care. For gaming, not a super pc for professional movie editing. I'm sorry for your time. I just keep discovering new stuff the more I do this. I'm new to building computers, this is the first time. So, since there is so many things to find and analyse, I figured I could come here and waste your life on building someone else's computer =3 but you could help a bit right? :) Thanks a lot for your time and patience :) more

Resolved Question: Dual Monitors - Full Screen Games?

I just set up dual monitors (yes, everything is working just fine and all the settings are correct) but I appear to have run into an issue. I set up these 2 monitors for the purpose of multitasking, which is completely ruined by the fact that when I play a game in full-screen on my first monitor, I can NOT access anything on the second monitor without Alt+Tab'ing. I found a program called Actual Multiple Monitors and was told that I could play full-screen games and use both monitors without anything being minimized. However, I'm unsure of the proper settings and hotkeys to allow me to switch between monitors without interrupting my game. more

Resolved Question: Dual output graphics card VGA/DVI and HDMI help please?

Hi My goal here is to watch films from my computer on my TV and switch between the two. My TV has a VGA input but I'd prefer to use the HDMI port. At the moment I'm using the VGA input but I keep having to swap from monitor to TV to monitor and so on. At work we have dual monitor set ups and that gave me this idea. So I'm wondering if I would be a me to have a dual output graphics card. One running my monitor (preferably through DVI, but can be VGA) and the other running my TV (again, could be VGA but I'd prefer HDMI). Here is some info on my computer: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02567188&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=101&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=4169543&prodTypeId=12454 The only difference is I have upgraded to 8gb of RAM. would the fact that my current graphics card is integrated be an issue? Resolved Question: Dual monitors from two independently controlled laptops?

I am interested in a set-up in which two people sit in front of their own laptops (in this case, both laptops would be running Windows) and do their own thing, and between them is a third screen/monitor which acts as a dual monitor for each laptop when a mouse is moved from the laptop screen to the third monitor. I figure this will take some special software and probably some hardware as well, but is within reasonable limits? In an even more idealized scenario, two cursors would appear on the third monitor and each can also it's own thing. They could functionally execute as a single cursor(for clicking, scrolling, etc.), but would be represented by two cursors controlled by two independent computer mice. This is more of am addendum to the main and more pressing question detailed above more

Resolved Question: No Signal with DVI Cable?

I have a video card on my PC with dual DVI ports. My monitor is VGA and DVI compatible. I was using an HDMI cable to connect the two through DVI with an adapter on either end. Well, I swapped to using an actual DVI cable, because I needed my HDMI for other purposes. The screen was really scratchy and would cut out, so I messed with some settings and changed the resolution to 1024x768. The screen went blank and gave me a No Signal" warning, which means it recognizes that there is a cable attached, but is not receiving the correct signal. I plugged back in with the HDMI and set all the settings and resolution back to what they were before but I still get "No Signal" wen I try to connect the two. more

Resolved Question: latop-to-TV with HDMI, but surround-sound has no HDMI port (any loopholes?)?

I've been thinking about getting an HDMI cable to hook my laptop (which has the port) to my HDTV (for occasional watching of TV shows & movies I've downloaded), but my surround sound doesn't have an HDMI port (ie, send the data to it, then to the TV, as we do w/the cables from our cable-box. everything goes into the surround box then out to where it needs to go (picture to TV, audio to it's own speakers, etc). I know that HDMI carries sound as well as video, but in my house we prefer the surround sound speakers, not really for the quality, but because it's louder when you want it, and also because you can sit near the speakers & not have to have it louder (like at night, where if you're sitting further from the TV & were using the TV's speakers, you'd need it louder to hear it. But with the surround you can sit near one of the speakers & not have it loud, being polite to people who've gone to bed already). I DO have a composite (Yellow/Red/White) cable w/a head-phone jack that I had bought for my iPod, that I can plug into the headphone jack on my computer. I would set the surround to be playing the audio from that input, and set the TV to display the HDMI input (& not the one from the surround). I wouldn't have a problem with that (ie: I don't care that the composite audio would technically be lower quality & what-not). My concern is that the audio might be noticeably out of sync from the video because they're coming from different sources. Does anyone have experience with this? Would there be some work-around I could do with various cables between the TV & surround so as to use just the HDMI but still use the surround speakers? Or (if I shouldn't use HDMI + the headphone jack), do I have to suck it up & switch to the TV speakers when I want to plug the computer in? (I'm guessing that's the case, but I thought I'd ask)I don't want to sound snippy, but I said right in the question title that my surround receiver doesn't have an HDMI port...if it did, this would be pretty easy. (I experimented VGA-to-TV & w/the audio jack, and the sound seemed synced up, so it should be fine w/HDMI I'd imagine) (And you went straight to "best", when I also said that I con't care about that, I just want ideally to have the sound coming from the surround, but avoiding un-synced audio/video if possible (whichever combos of cables would do that).I just tested the HDMI cable I bought today (during halftime of football) and I found that apparently when sending a signal out the HDMI port, it doesn't send audio out of the headphone jack port (I had all the setting right on my surround receiver, and none came out). Makes sense, b/c nothing came out of the speakers either, it's thinking I want the signal out the HDMI port. So unless there's some odd way to send audio OUT of the TV and INTO the surround receiver, I'm going to have to just use the TV speakers when attaching my computer I guessOkay, I found an audio out on the TV & audio in on the surround-receiver (for a CD-recorder (an in & out), so I just set it to that mode), but it didn't work. BUT, I found on windows how to change the audio output from the TV (aka HDMI) to the computer speakers (aka headphone jack), and it was synced well, so it's all good. more

Resolved Question: Does quad core mean whatever the Ghz says multiplied by 4?

This is the spec for an alienware processor: Intel Quad Core i7-640UM Processor (1.2Hz, 4M L3 Cache) w/ Turbo Boost up to 2.266GHz What I want to know....does that mean 1.2 multiplied by 4? So if I want to play, for example guild wars 2, requiring a 2.4Ghz processor, this laptop will have ample processing power? Or...will the program (ie the game guild wars 2) only be able to use one of the 1.2 GHz processor, and the other three are used elsewhere in the laptop?Thankyou for the quick replies. I knew it was to good to be true! Stupid alienware trying to bankrupt me for a machine that won't even play my games >:( more

Resolved Question: What is the best monitor stand that allows for one or two monitors to be used in both landscape and portrait?

I would like to use two monitors in a way that I can switch them between landscape and portrait position. I would prefer a dual monitor stand that allows for this, as long as there is enough space on the stand to angle the monitors separately. Otherwise, I would just use two single monitor stands. Thanks a lot guys! more

Voting Question: Would The Mac Mini Work For Me? ~Providing all the info~?

Ok so I've never had a mac before..... -shrugs- for 5 years, I've been using Windows. I got my HP G62 Laptop With Windows 7 Home Premium With 4 GB of RAM 294GB Hard drive and Altec Lansing speaker system with RealTek HD Sound and Intel processor chip (i forgot which model it was...) Over 2 years I did some upgrades- Upgraded to the AMD Turion II P540 Dual-Core Processor 2.40 GHz I maxed out the RAM from 4GB to 8GB I went from Windows 7 Home Premium to Linux (i switch between different distros) cuz i got tired of all the viruses. Ok now that u know alot of my system specs here's what I do on my computer: I do a good bit of developing/programming/coding. Not like professional but I do do that. Would the Mac Mini be able to hold up to that? I do video editing. I wouldn't say it's professional video editing but it's not really basic.... I do sometimes use Windows Movie Maker when I'm on my mom's or brother's computer to do some cutting but once I pirated a copy of Sony Vegas Pro i switched to it. I did some research and I learned about iMovie and Final Cut Pro. Would the Mac Mini be able to handle Final Cut Pro? Or even iMovie? I do dabble with a bit of music. It is something I would be willing to give up as I only do some remixes every now and then for videos. Nothing major. BUT IT HAS TO BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD MUSIC XD But it would be nice if it could handle a music editing program because I was thinking about treating myself and get myself a condenser mic so me and my brother can work on our music (he plays guitar AMAZINGLY and I write a bit of raps [not the crap all about sex, drugs, and money. my raps are about life and the struggles] and some lyrics.) I do picture editing. I have used Paint.NET and GIMP. I know Mac can run Photoshop but will the Mac Mini be able to? I do website development (sometimes from scratch but my html skills are not the best...) and I know iLife contains iWeb and Sandvox but will they run on Mac Mini? I do play some simple flash games. One of the ones I play daily when I get a chance to is Happy Wheels. I sometimes play Portal the flash version. Will they be able to run? Those are the only games I play lol. If all this does work, would it work even better if I switch from OS X Mountain Lion (that comes with it) and install OS X Snow Leopard? I know it's bit of a downgrade but you know, performance matters. Also another question is, does iLife 2012 still carry iWeb? I know for a while rumors were going around saying they were getting rid of iWeb. So if all does work on the Mac Mini, I was thinking of this set up: Upgrading the Mac Mini RAM to 8gb by myself Hooking up an external hard drive (preferably a Lacie 1tb/2tb drive from apple) Magic Mouse/ Wireless Keyboard Some nice speakers from the apple store An Hp Monitor that kinda looks like those thunderbolt displays. Thanks for reading all this :) Btw, is there any place that sells NEW magic mouse and wireless keyboards for alot cheaper? I mean I'll buy it if i have to but it's kinda pricey.... Also I would like the Lacie Hard drive but a cheaper one would be considered. Any good speakers to? thanx :) I put as much detail into this as possible. And guys, I'm on a budget lol xD I know alot of you would consider an iMac but i just can't afford it :) (im 14, XD I dont got a job) So I'm trying to do my own set up. I would think with all the ram and external hard drive it would run flawlessly? I mean a mac mini with 8gb ram, 1tb/2tb external hard drive, magic mouse and wireless keyboard, big nice hp monitor that looks like thunderbolt, and some nice speakers? :)! sounds yummy! Thanks for reading all this guys. I'm just trying to provide all the info as possible. Besides, the mac mini with the ram and hard drive sounds just as powerful, if not more powerful than my current computer. Keep in mind I will be using this as my main computer until I save up enough for a non-baseline imac. Thanks for your time :) Before I forget, here's the shape my current 3 year old computer is in xD: Keys are not doing so well, going to replace them and place a rubber covering over it. The audio jack is chipped in a place so it won't work unless i keep pushing on the headphone jack. I will buy a new usb sound card and plug it into my usb drive. The shell of it is scratched up so I will be buying a skin and putting it over the shell to cover the scratches and prevent new ones. I will be giving it a fresh install of Linux Ubuntu 12.04 maybe or some other distro and buy a wireless keyboard and mouse for it cuz the trackpad button is geting a bit awkward feeling. if that makes sense. I will replace the fan inside and some other parts that have probably melted. I know you're prob thinking just replace it but with a bit of work i could save about 200/300 dollars :) and plus i love my laptop but i want a mac. The mac will be my main com more

Resolved Question: running dual monitors plus xbox 360 in one of the monitors?

Ok heres what i have PC with an older LCD flat screen monitor and a new widescreen monitor and an Xbox 360 My goal :To be able to run dual monitors when im only using the PC, but when i play Xbox ,I want to be able to use the older screen for PC at the same time(side by side). Resolved Question: Switching between two graphics cards?

i have 2 graphics cards, the Radeon 7700 and the Geforce 8400 GS. I used the Radeon for dual monitors before, but then after about 30 min, the computer crashed. So then i put one of the DVI cables into the GeForce graphics card and that solved the computer-crashing problem. But now, my question is, how do i switch what graphic card my games use. It seems that all the games i play now use the GeForce card and that slows down the FPS substantially. The Radeon card works fine for games, but after i installed the GeForce card, it seems to be the "Primary" card for gaming. Anyway i can change this? more

Resolved Question: My monitors keep switching identifications after sleep mode. What do I do?

I'm running a dual monitor setup on a Windows XP Pro machine with a ATi 256mb agp graphics card. When I first boot the system up, the vga is monitor #1 and the dvi is monitor #2. When I put the computer to sleep and wake it back up, the monitors switch (vga becomes #2 and dvi becomes #1). If I switch primary monitors in the settings and shut the system down, it will be switched when I restart the system. And unfortunatly putting it to sleep again and waking it back up doesn't fix the issue; only a restart of the system will do that. What can I do to revent this problem without buying new cables for each? Is there a software I can use that will just change the monitor identities? more

Resolved Question: For a computer with dual graphics cards, how do you switch?

I have a Windows 7 with a dual graphics card, but I have no idea how to switch between the two. I want to play games but the automatic graphics card I use is the one that saves power because it is integrated to the motherboard, however this graphics card is crappy and I want to switch to the better one. How do you switch them? Sometimes, when I first turn on my laptop, at the bottom right there is a blue square icon, and when I click on it a pop up window shows up which allows me to switch graphics cards. However, most of the time it disappears and I do not know how to return to that pop-up window. Thus I am unable to switch graphics cards whenever I please. Do you know any way to find that pop-up window or how to get there? Any help would be appreciated. I want to play my games but my current graphics card doesn't even scratch the minimum standard required for graphics. more

Resolved Question: Switching between desktops on a MacBook Pro with dual monitors?

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro 13" running OS X Lion and I just hooked it up to a secondary display. My MacBook has 3 different desktops, and I switch between them very frequently, but whenever I switch desktops, the desktop on the other display switches as well. In other words, if I'm on desktop 1 and I switch to desktop 2 on my MacBook monitor, the desktops switch on the secondary monitor as well. Is there any way to switch between desktops on only one monitor at a time independent of the other monitor? more

Resolved Question: Internet Ping Issues?

Hi guys, So I have been having internet fluctuating issues of late, and this is becoming a serious problem, especially as a gamer. Issue: At random points in time, I will see my ping shoot up (I usually use Teamspeak 3 to monitor my ping) to unbelievable amounts that makes gaming unbearable. I run usually at 54-53ms +- 0.8-4.0. At some random points in time, my ping will spike up to 100's and a 50 flex and then peak at a 400 and 300 flex. This will occur for a time between 5 minutes to 30 minutes. It happens around 4 or 5 times per day, and I happen to be on a lot. Devices: my PC, Sony Vaio Laptop, 6 year old PC (Hardlined), Xbox360 (Hardlined), iTouch, DroidX, and a Toshiba Laptop. Normally only my PC is connected, with the 6 year old PC and the Xbox360 connected at random times. No heavy internet usage from that PC besides the occasional porn streaming (gotta love roomates) and xbox360 only does netflix. I run 2 registry cleaners (CCleaner and RegCleanPro), and keep my drivers updated to a normal basis. I clear my cookies on a constant basis. Solutions Approached: 1. Called out Comcast, got them to adjust a double flow internet booster that was power cycling my modem. 2. Updated Router firmware to latest version. 3. Virus scanned PC using AVG 4. Preformed 30/30/30 restart onto the Router to restore it to factory settings, which actually fixed an old xbox360 issue in which it hogged our bandwith to the point if anyone tried to access the net when Live/Netflix was running the net crashed. If you guys need any more information let me know, I think this is a PC error rather then a ISP error, since comcast has helped me a bunch and fixed a majority of their issues. I did a quick internet crash logger, this only documents my crashes, not my spikes though. They are usually much more frequent. 3:00 am - 4/6/2012 crash, went to sleep 12:15 pm - 4/6/2012 crash, went to class 3:56 pm - 4/6/2012 crash, went to shower 12:00 am - 4/7/2012 crash, went to reset Reset Modem at 12:01 am 4/7/2012, turned everything off Net access back up at 12:06 am 4/7/2012, did not fix issue. 12:08 am -4/7/2012 internet crashed, went to sleep. more

Resolved Question: Dual Monitor Custom Resolution?

Okay so I had first I had my second monitor connected straight to the computer from VGA. Windows 7 detected it and I could set the appropriate resolution of the monitor. I recently purchased a VGA Switch box from Hong Kong so I could switch between my Xbox 360 (via VGA) and my computer as a second monitor. All went well except when Windows 7 tries to detect the monitor it can't and just gives me some small resolution presets for the second monitor. The highest the slider goes is 1600 x 1200 and at that resolution the monitor is extremely blurry and awkward. The real monitor resolution is 1680 x 1050 but that's not on the Resolution slider in Control Panel -> Display -> Screen Resolution. I was wondering if there was a way to set a custom resolution on my second monitor? more
