Resolved Question: A Plus CompTia. I have the feeling that the book were im studying on it's wrong.?
Im studing for the CompTia A Plus and while preparing for the exam Im using a exam cram 220-701/702 from patrick Regan.
Now i have a quest that i feel it's wrong because it say: (You are looking at a processor socket that has 426 pin. Which processor can be inserted into it?)
A: intel Pentium 4 Processor.
B:AMD Athlon processor
C:AMD Athlon 64 processor
D: Intel Core2 processor.
So the right answer in the book is D.
the explanation of the answer it's this.
"The 426 socket was used by the Intel Core2 processor. The Pentium 4 processor (answer A) used a socket 423, socket 478, or socket T. The AMD Athlon processor (answer B) used a Socket A, which has 426 pins, and the Athlon 64, (Answer C) used socket 939 or socket 940.
Do you think that D (Intel core 2 processor) it's the right answer?????
moreResolved Question: is the msi 7600gs gfx card 512mb (agp) compatiable with a pentium D processor?
I am going to buy the msi 7600gs 512mb agp gfx card and I just want to make sure it will work with the rest of my system.
Specs:
Mobo: ASRock 775I65G
CPU: Intel pentium D 940 3.2ghz
Ram: 1.5GB pc2100
Current gfx: Nvidia fx5500 (agp)
HDD: 200gb SATA
Os:windows xp pro
I think it should all work it is just that on some websites it says you need an intel pentium 4 processor although that could just be the minimum requirments

moreResolved Question: I have a pc that will never start?
I know I have asked this question on here before but it was never answered so I am going to repost it.
My new pc will not boot. No matter what I do it just will not start (fully). Nomatter what hdd I have in there after about 20 sec my pc just turns off. Even when there is no hdd and I just start up into the bios it still just turns off after about 20sec. Each time I try to turn it on it stays on for less and less untill it turns off about about 5 sec. When that happens if I leave if off for a few min then it will stay on for about 20 sec and then turn it's self off. It is a new pc that I have just built and here are the specs:
Intel pentium D 940 3.2 ghz
ASUS P5VDC-MX mobo
256mb pc2700 sdr (temp)
Nvidia geforce mx 440 (temp)
Please help me get this to work. I have spent alot of money on it and it would be a huge shame if it turned out to be a waste of money and time.
ThanksEdit:
I can't afford any more parts because I have almost no money left and telling me to get a new pc is not funny or helpfulEdit #2
I can't see the processor overheating in just 20 sec of use and my psu is a brand new 500 watt one. Also I am using the fan supplied with the processorEdit #3
All of my case fans are 4 pin connectors that hook stright up to the psu. So i dont think it is any of my case fans.Edit #4
I think it could be a problem with my hdd because now when i start it i get this screen:

It is a 4 year old hdd but I reformatted it the other day whilst it was in a different pc and it worked ok then. It currently has windows xp home with sp2Edit #5
