Open Question: Dual Displays connected to dual head pci video card show black screens when connected to?

I put a new pci dual head vga/dvi video card with a dvi/vga adaptor on the dvi connector and connected 2 15 in dell LCD monitors to an XP machine. I also installed a 450 watt new power supply. The new video card shows in device manager. I installed the drivers from the disk but the monitors show only black screens on both sides when both monitors are connected. I also disabled the onboard chipset and removed those drivers but the only desktop display I can get to show up is with one LCD display connected to the onboard vga connector. At one point I could see the NVidia Desktop manager in the control panel and the start menu but now in the control panel I cant get it to open. Ive been working on this for a month slowly trying to weed out any conflicts or hardware/software issues but I keep hitting a wall with it. Please anyone have any suggestions I need help! more

The tower appears to be a mid-tower and from what i understand thats kind of small; will heal/ventilation be a concern here? Is the size of the mb/processor or whatever too large for the case? Bearing in mind that octocores are coming out later this year, how much do you think the processor will drop in price? Would skimping on the processor/mb/anything else and SLI-ing up my 480x be more or less beneficial for the buck? Are there any compatability/insufficient power (the site says no) concerns that the auto-checker may have skipped? I fully intend on having SLI-480xes eventually, should that work with what I have for the future? I tried to do as much homework as I could (googling each individual piece about any comparision with other "like-pieces') but someone with as little experience as I have in the field wont be able to find out much to much that isn't either rediculously biased or just downright wrong without knowing any better. Any help here would be downright awesome! Frame of reference: Im trying to max out my settings on mw2/wow and looking for something future-proof into cataclysm. Currently Im running, AMD Phenom 9500 2.20ghz, 8g ram, with a nvidia geforce 9600gt 512mb. I have some miserable frames in 25-player content, as bad as 3-6fps MAX. Its pretty unbearable. Oddly enough I run very smoothly but VERY hot in MW2 (all 4 cores nearing 60deg, card coming close to 75deg.) I play with one of my case sides off with a big ole box fan on it... not something I intend to continue doing. Is there some kind of tweaking I can do on my current rig? Sorry for the 2pt question feel free to consider this a bonus point. :P For what its worth i run 1920x1080 res since thats the size of my monitor. more

Open Question: How to set up dual monitors with 2 graphics cards?

Basically I have an integrated graphics card in my computer and my girlfriends is removable, if I was to remove her graphics card and put it into my computer I would have 2 graphics cards with 2 VGA ports. But the one that integrated is in the middle of the computer with the usb connections etc and the other one would be at the PCI slot area. Would it be possible then to link in 2 montiors into each VGA port and then run them both on one pc and how? Thanks more

Resolved Question: Upgraded to a new motherboard, Now I don't have display?

I recently moved my HDD into a new case with a new motherboard new memory and new processor. Everything runs great except for the monitor. There is no display at all it detects that its plugged in but acts as though it's in sleep mode. Because of this, I can't access BIOS to change my display settings. Everything in the case is compatible I made sure of it. Why is this happening? I've been reading everywhere and haven't seen a clear explanation on why this is happening and how to solve it... the only thing I've been seeing is to put a blank HDD in and go from there but I do not want to dish out the money on a new OS. The monitor is almost new and works still on my old computer. The new motherboard does not have an on board monitor input I cleared from the CMOS and still...nothing. There is 0 picture at all so BIOS is not possible to get to unless I do it blind. Also there is no beeping from the internal speaker. All of the fans fork the HDDs run and everything s running except for the monitor. the RAM is definetly compatible DDR3 and I put them in the 1-2 slot and 3-4 slot and didnt change anything...I read on another site that it is possibly a PSU issue however I have a 500W PSU that is only a few years old and nothing too out there that my PSU can't handle it but if someone thinks that could be the issue please let me know. the video card is seated perfectly in the PCI express slot I even tried 2 different cards with no success... the best way to describe it is... it's like a car that wont turn over.... everything works but that little extra ooomph to turn it over I felt the HDD's on startup and they are running all the fans work and LED's are on so power isn't a problem... when I have the monitor plugged in the monitor says no DVI Input found when I unplug it it tells me to check cable. I am on my second motherboard now and still have the same problem anyone know what else it can be? specs- purchased at tiger direct- ECS NFORCE6M-A2 Motherboard - GeForce 6100, Socket AM3, DDR3, HyperTransport. Also I put evertyhing back into my old case and it worked fine.... so it has to be the CPU, RAM, or mobo but whats the chance of getting 2 motherboards in a row that are defective with the exact same issue?the thing is.... I don't even get BIOS I get nothing but a blank screen the HDD has nothing to do with BIOS so I should get some display but right now I have nothing....also it has nothing to do with power... I have 2 cards the older card needed a power cord plugged in my new Radeon HD 4650 does not. I do have the 4 pin plug hooked up and still nothing.... Voting Question: New Sound Card Distortion problem?

I recently Purchased the ASUS Xonar DX PCI-E Express 7.1 Audio Card from Newegg.com, for my Desktop. My Desktop is custom built. So far the card has worked fine, except with volume changes. If, for example, i turn the little speaker at the bottom right corner of my screen all the way to 100, the sound becomes really really distorted and really scratchy. But if i leave it at like 50, and turn up my surround sound receiver its fine. Also, the audio program i have for the card has like a volume knob on it aswell. If i turn that past 50, it gets distorted and scratchy also. However, in order for me to hear the song in normal volume, i have to have my receiver at like -20. (+16 is loudest and -80 is mute) With the small volume icon at 50. I have used Memstest, and nothing showed up. Also, WMP11 works fine. Voting Question: best graphics card for me?

Hey, I need to buy a new card for my pc. I used to have a nvidia 8600gt (stopped working a few days ago). I am plannig to buy a new card for this config: CPU: Dual Core 2.4ghz RAM: 2gb DDR2 MB: Asus P5G-MX ( 1 PCI-Express 16x slot) PSU: 500W ( with 1 extra molex and 1 sata power cable) Monitor: LG 17' CRT (resolution used= 1280 x 1024) OS: Windows XP (shift to Win 7 with new card) I use the PC for gaming and surfing the net only. Games I have played on this: Crysis,Crysis Warhead,COD MW,COD WW,COD MW2,Fallout 3, Assassin Creed 1 & 2,Burnout Paradise-Ultimate box,Dead Space,FIFA 2010,NFS Undercover,Gears Of War,Mass Effect 1 & 2. I need help in choosing a card which would be ideal for this config. I have a budget to keep. Please help me out.I found this card ATI HD5670. Do you think this would be good enough for me?As already pointed out, I don't have the extra power cables to be able to run HD 4850. Please suggest a card which uses at most one 6-pin pci power cable. My budget is Rs 6000 -- 7000. more

Resolved Question: GeForce GT240 512 DDR3 or Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR2?

I was wondering what was a better videocard to buy, found both for $35 so im not interested in other cards that are going to be much more expensive. The GT 240 w/ 512 DDR3 or the HD 4650 w/ 1gb DDR2. I checked the benchmarks, but im guessing the ones done on www.videocardbenchmark.net were done with DDR5 on the GT 240 and DDR3 on the 4650. I also compared them on gpureview.com if that helps anyone http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=620&card2=580 Im just doing light gaming, things like world of warcraft, league of legends, nothing intense atm but i might get into more graphic intensive games so i'd like to know which is actually better for everyday use as well as gaming. im guessing its the GT240, which is noisier but has DDR3, looks like its faster and seems to have better benchmarks, but im not sure if the manufacturers make much difference. Resolved Question: How do you run dual display on MB with 2 PCI expressx16 slots?

I've noticed that a lot of new motherboards have 2 (or more) PCI Express x16 slots. I need to run two monitors (NOT cloning), and my current system has a dual-head AGP card. Can I just use 2 PCI Express cards in these newer motherboards, or is this strictly a Crossfire/SLI thing? I don't need the extreme graphics power for what I do (audio work), so cheapie cards work fine for me.Thanks for the replies. So assuming I build this and have a single dual head card... later if I want to run a third monitor, can I populate the second PCI Express slot to do that? If so, would I have to do SLI/Crossfire? I guess it wouldn't be a big deal if I have to, but would I get a 3rd display out of it? more

I have a Geforce 9800GTX+, I have dual monitors setup and my only available slot on it is an S-Video jack. Resolved Question: Will this be a good setup for a computer?

I know this questions been asked a billion times, but will this computer work right and work well? Not for heavy gaming - the worst I'll throw at it is Halo 2 - but as a decent, fast computer. I'm pretty tech-savvy, so feel free to throw around basic tech terms, but I've never built my own computer and I need to just be absolute sure this will work. Here it is: - ASUS Micro ATX Motherboard, with an AMD Athlon 2 x2 260 Regor 3.2 GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket Dual-Core - Crucial Ballistix 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1333 PC3 106000 Desktop Memory (2 of these, maybe more later) - Graphics Card - MSI N220GT GeForce GT 220 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI-E 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card - HDD - Western Digital Caviar 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0GB/S 3.5" HDD OS - Either XP or 7. I've somehow come across both, go figure. One of my aunt's friends tried to change the motherboard in his computer and didn't put anything - no rubber or plastic or anything - between the board and the metal case. He couldn't get it to work and was confused as to why, so I asked for it. It had a DVD drive and CD drive in it, and I'll use it for the case. The board I picked out has onboard sound. That case is the right size and isn't too awfully ugly, so I'll use it. My dad had an extra power supply from somewhere, it's got tons of SATA and IDE plugs, it's 480 watts, and I can hopefully use it. Actually the power supply supply was one of my big worries. I think it can handle that motherboard, card, and everything, but I'd like a more experienced person to verify. I can find a mouse and keyboard, easy. I need help finding a good monitor at a good price. At least 19" needed, and and HDMI and VGA port. I'd like to plug my laptop into the monitor whenever I need to do work. This computer is just going to be for internet, music, movies, and a few older games. I've got a 360 for those hot new games, don't need (can't afford, either,) a $1500 + top of the line gaming machine. So, will this do? Will it work? Any suggestions would help.Oh, and thermal paste for the processor - do processors come with it, and if not where can I find a cheap tube?Just to clarify, I'm getting two sticks of 2GB RAMAnother thing - this is for a computer to build. I've already got a working laptop more

That graphics card is perfect for me, it's pretty high end for me and can run any game that's thrown at it full 1080p and remain at 40-60 fps (So please don't comment on the graphics card, as I've changed it countless times). So, any suggestions? Thanks!New PSU (Better brand) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015 more

Resolved Question: Can i connect my PC to a LCD TV using HDMI and get a good resolution?

First of all, here is my PC Build: Cooler Master HAF 922 ASUS M4A89TD Pro AM3 DDR3 ATX AMD 870 SB850 6 GB USB 3.0 Motherboard Phenom II X4 95 Quad Core Processor AM3 3.2GHZ Black Edition Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200RPM 32MB Dual Proc SATA 3.5IN Hard Drive G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit LG GH22NS50 Black 22X SATA DVD Writer nGear Flash Card Reader 3.5IN Internal USB Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 725MHZ 1GB 4.0GHZ GDDR5 PCI-E Display Port 2XDVI HDMI Antec Truepower Quattro 850W Power Supply ATX V2.2 EPS12V 20/24PIN Active PFC 80PLUS Dual 8PIN PCI-E The HD 5850 has an HDMI port, so im wondering if i will get a good FPS on a 32 inch LCD TV. Also, what will be the max resolution i will be able to use if my tv is 720p but supports 1080i. Would you recommend this, or should i just buy a monitor, i would like to use the tv because i will be able to plug my PS3 and PC into the same TV and switch from 1 to another with the press of a button. Also, if i use HDMI, can i still get the audio out of speaker attached to pc or from a headset, or will the sound necesserely come out of the TV's mediocre speakers Thnaks, and sorry for typing errors. more

Resolved Question: Asus maximus formula wont support dual non-sli video cards?

I'm trying to add two different ATI cards to an Asus Maximus Formula in non-SLI mode to allow me to use 3 or 4 monitors, but my PC wont boot with both cards installed. Why? I have an ATI 4870X2 in the primary PCI-E slot, and i've tried both an ATI HD 2400XT and Nvidia 8800GT - same problem with both. I'm using a 700W power supply, and there's no other PCI or PCI-E cards installed - I can't get any display or HDD activity. If I remove the second card, PC boots fine again. All cards have been tested individually and all are working ok. Does anyone have any ideas? It's driving me mental. Thanks more

Resolved Question: Problem With Dual Monitor Support?

I have inserted an older PCI graphics card into my computer. I still have a DVI-graphics card which is plugged in a PCIE slot but I don't want to use this card for dual monitor support. How can I used this PCI card together with my onboard VGA port? I have changed the BIOS to use onboard as Primary and I set it to enabled.8mb (meaning both cards are enabled) The problem is that if I set onboard as primary the PCI graphics card is shown with error code 10 (the device cannot start) and th same thing happens the opposite way if I set the PCI to primary. Please help. How can I fix this? I am not prepared to buy anything more. ftp://174.142.97.10/manual/ConRoe945G-DVI.pdf Thanks more
