Resolved Question: BMW X3 with an exhaust flapper valve that is rattling..?

2005 BMW X3, 55,000mi.. In great condition. It's my wife's car, and she cannot stand that when she starts the car, it has a rattle. After peeking around back there I quickly counted out the usual suspects (the heat shield, loose bolt, etc)... After poking around a bit I found that in the dual exhaust, the secondary pipe has a flapper valve, which is rattling (annoyingly) against the inside of the tailpipe. It seems to be in good working order other than the rattle, but wondered if anyone had any quick fixes to shut it up without simply disabling it. more

Voting Question: Exhaust/resonator question?

My question is related to my exhaust system. I have a BMW M6 (V10). the primary cats are built into the headers/exhaust manifold, then come the dual secondary cats, then dual resonators, and then dual mufflers. I wanted to hear the V10 scream, and i recently removed the mufflers, and placed straight pipes (after the resonator). it sounds awesome!! The only thing is that I want to quiet it down just a tad. On highway speeds, it has a low hmmmmmmm above 2500 rpm.. (is that know as "drone"?) Question: What would be the best way of lowering the sound a bit? would another set of resonators help? (I'm trying to stay away from mufflers if possible, I love the sound right now, just a bit too loud). more

Resolved Question: Can i put a dual exhaust or quad on my bmw 328i coupe?

i was just wondering if it was possible to do so, seeing as how the 335i comes with dual i figured why not mine, also its not worth the extra 10k... i also got the 328i because i dont like two turbos in my car, i owned a 300zx and didnt like the repairs and also was wondering if it was possible for just one turbo? so if you know of any parts please let me know that would be a great help thank you so much more

I Have A 2000 BMW 328Ci and im planing to adding a HKS Exhaust System - Sport Dual Ti and a Injen - RD Series Cold Air Intake. And Im planning on buying these things for my car and i was told by a friend of mine that if im gonna get all this stuff for my car, i have to get my car's ECU Flashed because of like a setting of the fuel and air mixture... or something on the lines of that... I dont know if he's wrong or right, i used to drive a 1985 300ZX Turbo.. and its very simple to add and remove anything you like without worrying about computer stuff etc.... until now.... please help.. open to any suggestions. more

I own a 1996 BMW 328i. It's auto with 85,500 original miles. Stock except for the wheels, tinted windows, and head unit. Someone is interested in trading me a 1998 Firebird formula 6 speed ls1 with 138k miles but 40k on a rebuilt motor. It has some mods which are Ram air, Ls6 cam, long tube headers, true dual rumbler exhaust system, spec stage 4 clutch, spec aluminum flywheel, 4:11 rear end, and 5.0 short shifter. I've always wanted a t/a and this seems to be a good deal to me. I've had the bmw for 2 months and i love it but the firebird is my favorite car and Ive always wanted one. The guy is looking for a 4 door car because he has kids now and needs more of a family car. My biggest issue is the fact that it's just about winter now here in new england but i don't think either car will be good in the winter weather. I'm just looking for some input and advice on whether or not I should pursue the trade or just say no. more

I want to get a louder sound from my 2005 bmw 645ci. Is there a muffler that can do this for me or would I need a full exhaust system. If so how do I go about getting it. I don't think it's a dual exhaust but there are two tailpipes (side by side) and exhaust only flows from one of the pipes. The car is running okay but shakes a bit while standing and when not pressing the accelerator while moving. Thanks for your tips more

I'm 16 and I just got my Drivers license and I've always loved BMW especially the BMW 740i e38, I've heard they can be pricey on maintenance but do you think it would make a good first car? I'm looking to spend under $9,000, I make a good $900 a month working part time, could I afford this car? will it be reliable? I have a stick 2-door 1987 325 2.7 liters. All of the 2.7's that I saw have a single tube. single inlet exhaust. The exhaust that came with the car looks like the stock exhausts on the 92' and up models with the 2 pipes leading into one muffler!! and it has a dual outlet. All other e30's around me have a single pipe. what should I do??? I cant find anything on Ebay. more

Resolved Question: What is this BMW car?

It looks to me like an M3. It has the side vents (The oval with louvers and a line through the middle). It has dual exhaust exits with dual tips on each (making four outlets). They exhaust openings are centered, but not in the middle. They are close to the middle than most cars, but they are jot like a corvette. It has the Halo-style headlights, and the laillights are th "L" shape. I'd like to know what model this is, as well as some engine specs and maybe a price. Thanks.I think it is an M3 with mild body mods. I might add to the guy who mentioned: I will be buying an older one, I despise the rounded looks of the new ones. more
