Open Question: Can someone help me find a laptop with these specs.?

I am looking for a computer with the following hardware specs. I can't find a computer with all of them. The closest I got was the Sony Vaio E series and the Dell XPS 14. However, both of them don't come with the 1080p touch screen I want. Here are the specs. Any recommendation for a brand or specific computer would be great. Thank you so much for your help! SPECS: - Windows 8/Windows 8 pro - 13-14.5 inch laptop - 1920 X 1080 (or greater) touch screen - Either AMD or Nvidia integrated graphics. A mid-range card with 1-2GB GPU will suit my needs. -Back lit keyboard - At least a 500gb SSD, or a HDD/SSD combination drive. 500gb SSD's are expensive. I could settle for a 256 if all other needs are met - 8 or more GB of ram - Intel i7 quad core processor -6hr or more battery life -I would like it to be somewhat thin. I doesn't have to be a Macbook Air, but something like the Dell XPS 14 would due. P.S. I already asked this question and the two answers I received where a negative review of Windows 8 and links to the Sony E series. I already know I want windows 8, and I already know about the E series. Please keep to the question. Thanks again :D more

Open Question: Why do my USB ports have sudden failure?

Alright, this is going to be a little long, but please read all the details. My system information is: Motherboard: Asrock 970 Extream4 CPU: AMD Phenom II quad core processor PSU: 400 watt RAM: 4Gbx2 1600 DDR3 G.Skill Ripgaws Storage: 1TB HDD GPU: AMD XFX Radeon 7770 1Gb The problem: I fixed my computer in my bedroom. It had completed POST successfully. I decided to boot it with a USB using Ubuntu. I got Ubuntu successfully installed, and saved. My keyboard and mouse both use two USB ports. I moved it into my living room, and connected everything as normal. I didn't drop my computer, and nothing changed with the exception of locations. I plugged my keyboard, and mouse into the front pannel USB ports, and it worked somewhat. My keyboard wouldn't respond to any keys, and my mouse worked, so I thought I'd switch places. I switched places, and now nothing works any more. I can't use my keyboard or mouse on other computers. Now, can someone please explain this mystery to me? Thank you in advanc. more

Open Question: Are these parts good/compatible?(PC)?

Okay so I'll put it in bullet points. -Making a gaming computer that works with max graphics -Trying to make cheap (About $800 is the MAX I will go in main parts. NOT including monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers) -The combination I have already people have said is bad, good, horrible, awesome. So I need to know how fast the computer will run. Not a personal preference -I am new to building computers, so don't go all complicated on my ass lol Selected Parts: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139006 http://www.rakuten.com/prod/seagate-barracuda-es-hard-drive-750gb-3-5-sata-7200rpm-3-0gb-s/202853767.html?listingId=-1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103871&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Processors+-+Desktops-_-N82E16819103871&gclid=CMK4rJnTo7YCFeN_Qgod4S8AJA http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130744&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Graphics+Cards-_-N82E16814130744&gclid=CJ2ck43Qo7YCFaFxQgod4HoAFw http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131795&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-AMD+Motherboards-_-N82E16813131795&gclid=COj-kYXXo7YCFYx_QgodXTcAtA http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152042&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Power+Supplies-_-N82E16817152042&gclid=COm7g7Hao7YCFa1xQgodI2IAOA http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Memory-_-N82E16820145345&gclid=CMW2iebbo7YCFc5xQgod8Q0AOg My main concerns are compatibility and speed for gaming and videos. Open Question: Will an AMD chipset run alongside a nvidia graphics card?

I am currently considering purchasing parts and building my own computer and I have become stuck as to which card I should be choosing. I am eyeing 2 cards, one by AMD and one by nvidia with nearly identical performance but the nvidia card is slightly cheaper. The problem comes when I consider the fact that my motherboard will have an integrated AMD chipset (760G-ATI Radeon 3000) that is said to be able to run alongside a discrete graphics card for increased performance. I would just like to know if it would run alongside a nvidia card and how much of a performance increase could I expect from the chipset and discrete card. more

Open Question: A question about computers?

Currently I have a 13" Macbook Pro, which is 4-5 years old. I'm ready for a new computer. Basically, I bought a GoPro, and I would really like to occasionally edit HD video (my macbook can't handle it) and I want to play the elder scrolls online when it comes out, diablo 3, league of legends, etc… Now, I get a discount on Dell computers through work, so I went online and fake built one. My pricepoint would be between 800 and 1000 dollars. I got an XPS with an i7 processor which they said was 3.9Ghz, it comes with a wired mouse and keyboard, NO MONITOR, windows 8, 1 month trial of microsoft office, 12 months of macafee, 8GB of DDR3 ram which I upgraded to 24GB of DDR3 ram for an extra $360, a 16x cd/dvd burner, a 1TB hard drive which I upgraded to 2TB for an extra $72, an AMD radeon HD 7570 1GB GDDR5 video card which I "upgraded??" to an NVIDEA GEforce GT640 1GB GDDR5 for an extra $72 (I have the option to upgrade one more time to a NVIDEA GEforce GTX660 1.5GB GDDR5 for another extra $192, which IDK anything about, worth it?). Basically after all of the fake building I did the total came to 1,271.99. Now that is a little out of my price range for a PC with no monitor, but idk. If it's really what I need for what I want to do, I'll shell out the extra cash. Basically what do you guys think? You're much more versed in this kind of stuff than I am. For a novice video editor, just wanting to get started, and to have a OK gaming computer, do you think it's overkill? Is there anything I could shed to save some money? They offered 8, 12, 16, and 24 GB of ram which gets more expensive as the size goes up, should I shed some cost there? Do I need a 2TB hard drive? What about the GPU??? What do I do guys??? more

If I need a better one (one of the other ones that i didn't list) please let me know... Resolved Question: How Can I Improve Game Experience on my Laptop?

Okay, I have an Asus Laptop and I want to get a couple of computer games on here. Specs: Runs on Windows 7 AMD E-350 Processor 1.60GHz RAM: 4.00 (3.60 usable) 64-bit Operating System. Keep in mind I am 15-year-old JUST getting into gaming, keep it simple please. I have GameBooster. I have Slender: The Eight Pages, but it's a little slow. Not horribly so, but it will randomly lag. Games I would like to play: Slender: The Arrival SCP Containment Breach And so on. Is there any way I can play them fairly smoothly? Is there any way I could hook my computer up to my Xbox 360 to play games? I just want the game to move relatively quickly, I don't care so much about graphics. Any solutions OTHER than buying a new computer are welcomed. I DO have an old desktop, but it is very, very old, I think it's at least 2005-2008ish. Is there anything I can do to make Ye Olde Dionsaur Computer work?? Much love, Kat more

Open Question: My HP DV6-6047CL laptop screen's backlight won't come on from sleep?

The screen is on, I can see an image if I hold a light up to it. However, it works fine when I restart the computer. Does anyone have an idea as to what can be causing this? It is very inconvenient when you have to move the laptop from class to class and restart the computer each time. I already tried re installing the basic drivers for both my AMD 6770m and the intel HD display driver. Thank you for your help :DThe back-light isn't blown because as I stated earlier, it works when I restart my computer. Switching the computer to hibernate instead of sleep worked for a while but now that doesn't help anymore. Any other ideas? I uninstalled and re-installed my drivers again but to no avail. I noticed this started happening when I downgraded my 6770m from Catalyst 13.1 back to Catalyst 12.x due to frequent crashes in 13.1. Any help is greatly appreciated. more

Open Question: Best AMD processor for gaming?

Hello, I am an avid 15 yr oldteen student-pilot who flies a Cessna 150. I also am obsessed with Flight Simulator X. I am saving up my money for flying after I get back from my Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program in Germany for 11 months. I was wondering what would be the best Processor to buy to make my gaming for Flight Simulator X superb (Performance and Visual Maxed out). I want it to look as realistic as possible. I own an online PC repair business (that I started) and am very knowledgeable about PC's so I will understand the Computer Language. I would like something that is overclockable to be 4.5 gHz at the least, but maybe even a 4gHz would be good (without over clocking). If I over clock, I need something that can cool it in a small ATX case. If I can't fit a cooling system, is there anything stable at 4 gHz or above? I don't need something with 10 cores or whatever, two would be sufficient, becuase FSX uses 1 core. The game is all about CPU, not GPU. BUT I REALLY DON'T WANT TO SPEND MORE THAN $140 UNLESS IT'S SO GOOD THAT IT WILL BE AMAZING :) Here are my PC specs:Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 CPU AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8 gHz Regor 45nm Technology RAM 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 535MHz (7-7-7-20) Motherboard eMachines EL1352 (CPU 1)42 °C Graphics SyncMaster (1680x1050@60Hz) 256MB GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (Acer Incorporated [ALI]) Hard Drives 466GB Seagate ST350041 8AS SCSI Disk Device (ATA) Optical Drives HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH60N SCSI CdRom Device Audio Realtek High Definition Audio more

Open Question: Computer always uses 100% cpu?

Lately, my computer has been screwing around with me since the beginning of March (you can see what's happened through my previous questions, even though none of those answers helped me), but now, whenever I turn my computer on, it has the slowest boot time (black screen for 20 seconds then loads windows desktop). Not only that, but my computer ALWAYS uses the maximum cpu possible. When I check task manager or process explorer, they always use like 40 cpu. Sometimes svchost uses that much too. If i stop the process using the most cpu, another instance will just use as much cpu. I've already done a full computer antivirus scan and used MalwareBytes to scan the whole computer as well. Everything is updated, too. My specs are: AMD 2-core Processor Integrated Graphics card (HD 4200) 6 GB ram. Windows 7 I already tried removing the sticks of RAM (1 only; 2 only; 1 of each separate; etc), but that didn't help at all. My computer is clean from dust and such, and the fans are working fine. Also, this is a recurring problem: My computer sometimes might just completely lose signal with the monitor (the monitor freezes), and after a couple seconds, my mouse loses signal from the computer too (the red light that is powered through the computer is off). My keyboard, however, is on, but it doesn't work because the monitor doesn't display any actions. Any help?! I'm sorry about this long post, but this is very frustrating. Thanks for all efforts! Also, when I run the computer in safe mode, the cpu usage is NOT the same as normal boot. Everything is much faster, so i suppose the core drivers have nothing to do with the slowness of the computer. In msconfig, the only things checked are the ones that are requried, such as the OS or something. I uncheck everything that i didn't need, so there's only like, 5 that are checked. more
