Voting Question: Is it dangerous if I...?

write my credit card information on a piece of paper to give to a florist? What difference would it be compared to ordering their flowers online? I'm going to Basic Training and AIT for the Army soon and by the time I want my flowers ordered to someone, I don't know that I'd be able to get my order through and don't want to take chances on it. Also I have a specific order, so I was thinking I could write the florist a note and my billing info down and have my brother bring them the note in my place. I know it doesn't sound like a good idea, but is it really that bad compared to doing the same thing online? more

Resolved Question: Do you believe that desire can cause pain?

My 3 siblings are all married, each make 2 good incomes, each have 2 children, lived in very nice homes, drove expensive vehicles, all had underground pools... get the picture. I am a single mother. Make about a third compared to my siblings, have 3 children with no child support, live in a middle class home, have a minivan, no pool. I have never owned a credit card because I chose not to. My siblings all have many. But currently they are all broke! They have unbelievably, all three lost their homes. They drive beater uppers and live more poorly than I do. I have spent all my adult life being belittled by my siblings for not "being in their class". Now they are coming to me asking me to help them. And trust me... I don't have much. I live within my means and never have I once asked any of them for a loan or help in any way. Nor have they ever offered. I have done everything I know to live right, do it on my own and have managed to be quite happy. I enjoy helping people when they truly need help. But I don't feel I should have to help married couples with 2 incomes. I'm sorry if they are use to the higher class lifestyle and can no longer attain it. They still have more than me. If they didn't desire such an upper class lifestyle and lived as they could afford without the help of credit cards and credit I believe they wouldn't be in the mess they are in. I have accepted what I can and can't afford and have live quite peacefully. Do you agree that desire causes pain? more

Resolved Question: Should I take 5 AP's in my junior year?

Next year is going to be my junior year, where almost everything will start to kick off during that year; Most intense, junior prom, SAT and ACT, college early decision, etc. My number one choice school is either Yale or MIT. English is not my first language, so I guess I'll have some sort of "advantage" in term of college administration. Anyway, I have some extracurricular activities outside of the school along with sports in the spring (ONLY spring, since there are always raining and practice got cancelled frequently. Don't be mad or disappointed at me, there must be tons of students out there doing sports only because of their college administration). I'm also involve doing some community service over the weekends, which is the one that I truly like. My school is considered to be the top 500 high schools in term of AP programs in nationwide. So here is my schedule for the next year: AP UNITED STATES HISTORY (not included government of anything) AP CHEMISTRY (I freaking love science) AP PHYSICS (Partly because I love science and I'm good at math, but not really the materials like electricity, light, etc.) AP ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND COMPOSITION (People said it's an easy class because there are not much things to memorize once you gained the skill of how to read and write except that you have to memorize some vocab, but I guess those vocab are also useful when you're doing the SAT). AP STATISTICS (Again, an easy AP compares to others, I love math). Here are some other non-AP in my schedule: Honor Pre-Cal. Accounting Gym Honor Spanish 4 Those non-AP's are all applicable for community college dual-credits, even my gym. So yea, this is my schedule, 5 AP's with 3 dual-credits classes. Any suggestion? I can dedicated so hard to school stuff (that's always what I do), but so far, I just don't even try to maintain all A's on my report card. For AP's, I can be really seriously because I have a sense and idea of the consequence/effects on my entire life based upon the most important year in high school! So please take it seriously and give me some suggestions if you can! more

Resolved Question: Should I Come out of the closet?

As my life as a teenager i grew up with what i now think is the curse of being unintentionally handsome. i guess i should blame genetics, anyway, all my life women have always came to me. Which was great when I was a teenager and thought that all girls were cute and innocent. Aging into my early 20's i realized wow was i due for rude awakening. I've been cheated on in the 3 meaningful relationships I've ever been in with a woman. every time, I always try my hardest to be a "nice" guy. But turns out, women being the bitches they are, only like total and complete assholes. I am a total misogynist! Women are slow, unfunny, narcissistic, mean and most of all, the biggest mooches on the planet. All they want in life is materialistic things like diamonds and to crush the hearts of men that they are in a relationship with in just because they can and think its funny. All women do is sit around and wait for us guys to do the hard work so they can go behind our backs and charge all of our hard earned money on clothes with the credit card they stole out of our wallet. And then think its okay just because they are the female in the relationship and then get furious at us whenever we do something without thinking about it. One of the funniest things about it is that girls who say that they are different are ironically the most shady and egoistical of them all. I also hate it when i see people telling others to respect women on TV, it infuriates me! anyway, I am the biggest misogynist on the planet but i don't find Men sexually attractive even though they are saints compared to the alternative, what should I do? more

I have credit card already, but I would like to open another chase credit "INK Cash"(for its $300 cash back). See the below link, and I would like to know if there is any trick for this account. Resolved Question: Can a neutral party deny a request for documents (video surveillance) if there was suspicion of a robbery?

I'm a waiter at a restaurant. Tonight, either through my error or robbery, a sizable amount of my tips were missing. I know this because my credit card tips were a few dollars below what I walked out with. Even if I broke even, that would mean my cash tables left me zero dollars. Compared to my average percentage (13-16), i'm missing over 50 dollars (calculated at 13%). My percentage on my credit card tips was also above 15%. Obviously, the most opportune time to steal cash off of a table is when the table is empty and money is on it. Also, there is the possibility an employee stole it. Still, the best time to steal it is the same. At the end of the shift, I went through every table that paid in cash and supplied the restaurant with a list detailing when each cash table was there. However, basically out of laziness, the manager said it wouldn't do any good to look at it. I would like to know my rights to the footage in this situation. From what I've read, I think I'd have to put in a request for documents, but can they deny that? Really, I just want to talk to the head manager and explain that if I'm not given a copy of the footage or at least allowed to view it with someone else, there's going to be paperwork, lawyers, statements, yada yada yada. Hell, I might even talk to the paper. At this point I'm more mad they refused to help me than I am with whatever happened to the money. I'm a model employee who's been there almost a year now (college job, so that's actually pretty long comparatively speaking). more

Resolved Question: How can my mom get help (financial)? Legal help?

My mom is on call. She's also on umeployment. I'm not working, I'm looking for work - so no silly little comments like "Why not help your mom out". I AM appling for 100 jobs a week AND I volunteer at 4 different places. This is about my mom, not me. And I live with her rent free. I don't have any $ coming in to help her. I'm doing all I can to look for work. . She is on unemployment, but she LOSSES money when she only works 2 days a week at her job. (She is on-call). She will GET LESS MONEY each month if she works 2 days a week- as compared to NOT working at all and getting the money from unemployment. She gets less then $900 a month on unemployment. If she works 2 days a week, she will only be getting about $600 or $700 a month. She has credit cards. Her husband passed away in 2004. She was paying on HIS credit cards (in his name and her own (in her name) for the last 7 years, But in Oct 2011, she went on call. I keep on telling her "You can't pay his credit cards any more, you can't do it, don't pay them, you can't afford to pay on HIS credit cards, you are not working full time anymore! You must stop or you will not have enough money to pay the electric bill or the gas bill or the water bill. You must stop paying on HIS credit cards" She does not listen to me. She NEVER listens to me. Her house is paid off in full. Life insurance paid it off when he died. I have asked this question, and I will ask it again on here.. But people keep on saying "Take a home loan out, take a home loan out" HELLO?? Home LOANS need to be PAID BACK. Question 1: How do you expect my mom to pay the home loan back when my mom can't even pay the credit cards? The credit cards were used for emergencies, such as car repair - brakes. Something like that. She's been paying all of her credit cards -and her desceased husbands since 2004. She's been doing it all by herself. But she can't pay all of them anymore. She can't even pay 1/2 of the AT and T or the Wells Fargo. She doesn't make enough on unemployent to "cut the payment in half". She very afraid she will get a LEAN on the house and she afraid that the bills will go to collections and then she's worried she will LOSE the house! She can't take out a home loan since that will NEED TO BE PAID BACK. Question 2: How can my mom take out a home loan? how will she be able to pay that loan back? What what money? People are saying 'take out the home loan to pay off the credit cards" Huh? What? Question 3: Will her house be in jepordy of a lean if her husbands credit cards are not paid? (she says if "they" the credit card people) know that HE DIED in 2004, then "They" will ask for the "payment in full" and she CAN"T DO THAT, she doesn't make enough money. Question 4: is it TRUE that "they" will ask for the payment in full if "they" found out her husband died in 2004? "They" is the credit card company. She is so AFRAID and she is living in FEAR daily thinking "They, they, they" will take her home and put a lean on it. I told her to STOP living in FEAR.Okay since this was a little confusing. Her husband opened two or three cards in HIS name, she had a card too as a card USER, but the card was opening in his name. My mom has two credit cards in HER name - and her name alone. So those - in her name she can pay. But she can't afford to pay HIS, the ones that are in HIS NAME. there are TWO that were opening in his name.Lil Creep, she CAN"T stop working. She needs to come into work at least 2 shifts a week. If she does not come into work at least 2 shifts a week, it will go down as "QUIT" and guess what? HR will inform unemployment - then she has NO UNEMPLOYMENT COMING IN AT ALL. So, she can't just "stop working"Lil Creep, she CAN"T stop working. She needs to come into work at least 2 shifts a week. If she does not come into work at least 2 shifts a week, it will go down as "QUIT" and guess what? HR will inform unemployment - then she has NO UNEMPLOYMENT COMING IN AT ALL. So, she can't just "stop working"She has a living trust on the house. My step sister and I are both co-executors and when she (my mom) dies, the house needs to be sold and then 1/2 the money goes to her, 1/2 to me. No need for a probate attorney, I don't think more

Resolved Question: Should I try for a recommendation or look elsewhere for work?

I am a middle aged man working in the retail industry. I could tell you how I got into this line of work. Part of it was because I left my last full time job to work for a small business that went under. Now I am trying to work my own business and working a second job to supplement my income. I also continue to look for a full time job. One of the questions I am asked is "are there any opportunities to work there full time?" Its complicated. In order to apply for an opportunity within the company, I need a recommendation from a supervisor. I work there on call so my supervisor is the Human Resources Manager. He knows that I have been working closely over the holiday season with one particular department manager and told me to see her for the recommendation. Only trouble is, that department manager is a jerk. She is nasty and mean. All of the sales people hate her. Over the weekend, I had an incident with her in which she stepped on my foot, pinched me, and scratched me over a pricing issue with a customer. It got me so angry I am debating whether to report the incident. I had found out about a pending opportunity at another store owned by the company. But in order to apply for that job, I need a manager's recommendation, which would mean a recommendation from this department manager. Performance wise, this manager has been riding me about my lack of performance. I am not bringing in enough company credit cards. My sales are slacking compared to my co-workers. Because I only work there on call, it is hard for me to get into the groove of selling and it is my first sales job. The customers find that I am helpful and personable but what that means is that I am easily pushed over when it comes to pricing issues and customers take advantage of my good nature. The most successful sales persons in the store are able to turn the liking part into more sales and more credit applications done for them. The store as a whole has been affected by petty office politics. Since working there for three years, I have seen five store managers come and go. When new store managers come on board, department managers are shuffled around to different departments. Several managers have been fired, transferred to jobs at other store locations within the company, or simply quit. I have been shy to ask this department manager for a recommendation to apply for promotions from within the company. Now with the incident that happened over the weekend, I am letting this affect me. When I go to job interviews elsewhere, I do not list that I am working on call at my present job. When I wasn't working at all I was asked "are you currently working?" Now I am asked "is this full time?" Its as if they are asking me to confirm what they already have taken steps to find out. Unlike most companies, my store does not have a hiring freeze. There are opportunities but usually the jobs are filled by people who work at other stores and often the jobs are filled by people off the street who are friends of the managers. I suspect that the managers are using head hunters and getting paid to place these people. That's the rumor. My college degree is in Communications. I thought that working in sales and getting sales experience might lead me to getting into management. Since getting my bachelor's degree, I have worked a series of office jobs doing clerical work and went back to school to get two master's degrees, including my MBA. I make minimum wage and no commissions. If I was to do this full time, its not a job that I dreamed about getting when I was going to college, or even graduate school. At this point, I am simply scouring the job sites like Monster and Indeed and applying for any job that is open to just about anyone and trying to convince the hiring manager that this particular job is what I have always wanted to do all of my life. When I go for interviews, I arrive all dressed up in a suit and tie and usually interview with a hiring manager who is dressed in a tee shirt and jeans and we go into an office that smells like a garage. When I am working in the store, I get through the days working there by cracking jokes. That's because most of the people I work with are constantly laughing at me. For a while, I was living at home and trying to run my small business, trying to save money. But my stepfather convinced my mother to sell the family home and now I am living off of my savings in a one bedroom apartment. I am so poor at this point that I had to get my stepfather to cosign my lease. more

Resolved Question: Why does the world put up with Israel's aggressive stance on every issue?

Israel Vows Retaliation For Credit-Card Hack The Israeli government has compared the publication of thousands of credit-card details to a terrorist attack The Israeli government on Saturday promised to retaliate against a cyber-attack last week that saw the theft and publication of thousands of Israelis’ credit-card details, an incident Israel compared to an act of terrorism. “Israel has active capabilities for striking at those who are trying to harm it, and no agency or hacker will be immune from retaliatory action,” said Danny Ayalon, Israel’s deputy foreign minister, in a statement. He said the theft represented “a breach of sovereignty comparable to a terrorist operation, and must be treated as such”. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Even the USA doesn't react like this when we have been hacked..... Voting Question: Stats homework help please?

A researcher wanted to know if the content of television programs has an impact on viewer's recall of ad content. He randomly assigned 108 people to view a program with violent content, and 110 people to view a program with neutral content. The same 9 commercials were inserted into each program. After viewing the program, the subjects were asked to recall the brands advertised in the commercials. The average number of brands recalled for those who saw the violent program was 3.77 with standard deviation 1.87. The average number of brands recalled for those who saw the neutral program was 4.65 with standard deviation 1.67. (Banks earn a fee from the merchant on each purchase, and hope to collect interest from the customers as well.) A bank selects a random group of customers who are told their "cash back" will increase from 1% to 2% for all charges above a certain dollar amount each month. Of the 500 customers who were told the increase applied to charges above $1000 each month, the average increase in spending was $527 with standard deviation $225. Of the 500 customers who were told the increase applied to charges above $2000 each month, the average increase in spending was $439 with standard deviation $189. When testing whether or not the increases in spending are different, the test is significant at α = A.5%. B.1%. C.0.5%. A sports writer wished to see if a football filled with helium travels farther, on average, than a football filled with air. To test this, the writer used eighteen adult male volunteers. These volunteers were randomly divided into two groups of nine subjects each. Group 1 kicked a football filled with helium to the recommended pressure. Group 2 kicked a football filled with air to the recommended pressure. The mean yardage for Group 1 was = 300 yards with a standard deviation = 8 yards. Some researchers have conjectured that stem-pitting disease in peach tree seedlings might be controlled with weed and soil treatment. An experiment was conducted to compare peach tree seedling growth with soil and weeds treated with one of the two herbicides. In a field containing ten seedlings, five were randomly selected throughout the field and assigned to receive Herbicide A. The remainder were to receive Herbicide B. Soil and weeds for each seedling were treated with the appropriate herbicide, and, at the end of the study period, the height (cm) was recorded for each seedling. The following results were obtained: Herbicide A: 87, 80, 80, 76, 73 Herbicide B: 78, 72, 74, 68, 62 A 90% confidence interval for the difference in mean heights for the two herbicides is (0.2, 14.6). Which statement is correct? A.The P-value for a test of the null hypothesis of equal means and the alternative of different means would be greater than 10% because the interval doesn't include 0. Herbicide B 78, 77, 74, 68, 62 B.A 95% confidence could not include zero either, because we would be even more confident of a difference in the groups. C.Both (a) and (b) are incorrect. Resolved Question: Does the PlayStation store work outside the US?

I live in the Middle East and I plan to buy a PS3 this month. One of the key things I'm gonna be doing is buy games from the PlayStation Store. But does the store work outside the US? Do I need a credit card in the US in order to buy things? I'm asking because I couldn't purchase a B&N Nook because they require a US credit card with a US billing address in order buy ebooks. I'm not sure if the same is true for the PlayStation store given that it is more international as compared to the Nook. Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Why have the debt collectors stopped calling?

When I was 19 I foolishly applied for 2 credit cards. One was a Chase Freedom card with a balance of $1,500. And the other was a Victoria's Secret Angel card with a balance of $450.00. I am now 20 years old, and my total debt has reached just shy of $1,800 on my Chase card, and about $600 on my V.S. card. When I got my first couple of credit card bills, I made very minimal payments. Then I simply stopped paying. YES - I know that is not okay. But I am a full time college student who only works part time. I am soon to be a full time nurse aid, but until then, I am on a very strict budget. Once the card companies realized I wasn't attempting to pay anything, they started calling my cell phone in an attempt to set up payments. On some occasions I had set up payments, but they were never collected as I didn't have the funds. It wasn't long before my debts were sold to collection agencies. The collectors began calling my cell multiple times a day. But ever since the new year began, I have received less calls, and now it has been a month and I have heard nothing. No mail, no calls. Is this bad or good? Could they attempt to sue me? I have heard that once in a blue moon, debt collectors will drop your debt if they do not wish to pursue payment. Because my debt is minimal (compared to most) is it possible that they may have just gotten fed up with trying to contact me and decided to drop it? P.S. I am COMPLETELY aware that applying for credit cards in the first place was incredibly stupid. Especially the Victoria's Secret one. Who needs to go into debt for underwear? I don't need to be told that I was foolish or immature, because I already know that. And if the collectors have not simply dropped my debt, I will be capable of paying off the card balances once my nursing job begins in June. P.S.S. I have cut all of my card in half and will never apply for another card as long as I live, it is a slippery slope, and I have learned my lesson....although, I think my credit at this point wouldn't allow me to be approved even if I tried! more

Resolved Question: Regarding DeviantArt?

I got a Deviant Art account on my last birthday (December 23rd). In a lot of ways, it's great. Like I've gotten to see a lot of art I wouldn't normally see otherwise, been able to make a few friends, along with open up a few new styles... Problem, you may ask? Well, I haven't gotten to it yet I've always been skeptic about Deviant Art in the past. I tried joining in the past, only to have my own 'moral' come down on me. I think I asked a similar question some time ago, but now I have new info. 1. Points I am completely against using any type of system where you have to use a CREDIT CARD to become more "well-known". You're basically letting success sit ENTIRELY on the shoulders of a person's wealth. What if there's someone who's REALLY good at drawing but can't afford any type of points, so she's always put at the bottom? I have NEVER gotten any new points since I started DeviantArt (used them all on my first day), and up until recently, I've felt fine. I deleted ANYTHING that had the word 'point' or 'commission'. Now I realize that points are almost like money. YOU NEED THEM TO SURVIVE!!! 2. Adoptables I guess this kind of falls under the Points category, but it also has some qualities of its own. You're basically selling off your OWN work to other people for profit. Isn't that like prostitution, except with characters instead of sex? 3. Copyrights Honestly, what are the odds of someone stealing your art? The only instances I could think of when someone would steal photography. In the anime world, art theft takes place only among the more newb crowd, and the only thing stolen is the body, because they repaint it... 4. My Art / My Account I haven't posted a journal AT ALL, and I also haven't submitted anything yet. I mean, I've done a LOT of drawing since I got a scanner and I have plenty of OC's (I even created a VERY adorable creature, a Tenmaera {they look like a very furry dragon/kitsune hybrid with a Krawk-like muzzle}). So why would I hesitate in submitting? I've just been worried that my art won't compare to those of better artists and get overshadowed. I've been EXTREMELY slow, no make that, I've stopped for now, in getting better stuff (plushies, manga, etc.) And because I know that materialism is the back bone of otaku lifestyle, I've been worried about my already bad image on a lot of people. So... what to do... P.S. My account is Zereverefano, if you're wondering... more

Resolved Question: Writers: Who do you think you are? (+BQ)?

Didja click on this question expecting a scolding? lol. No No, I'm genuinely interested. What writer would you compare yourself to in terms of: 1) Sentence Structure 2) Use of figurative Language (metaphors, etc) 3) Story Telling 4) Genre Could be the same author for each, different authors, etc. But what published author would you say has a writing style most like yourself and why? BQ: What would you buy right now if you had a credit card limit of $2000? BQ2: Would you eat green eggs with ham? (Assuming the green's not from mold..eww) BQ3: What would you rather walk barefoot on: sand, mud, moss, stones, tall grass? BQ4: Does one finger ever get numb or tingly/achy before the others while writing? Or am I officially getting old? BQ5: Did you want to correct me when you read: "Didja?" lmao P.S. I think this is the shortest question I've ever asked. Remarkable! more

Resolved Question: How can you tell if your tickets from Ticketmaster will work?

I recently bought a pair of tickets for a Bruce Springsteen concert from a guy I met off Craigslist, the tickets are real. I compared them with a real copy, plus they came with his receipt attached with credit card info, date, address, etc ... But I've read that tickets can become void, like through refunds, scanning them and what not. I was just wondering if there's a solid way to find out if the tickets will work. Because I don't want to go to the concert the day of and be turned down because my tickets don't work. more

Voting Question: How to deal with stress and family problems. Please help!?

Basically, I am 20 years old and I am in my 2nd year at university and I love being there because it has allowed me to escape in a way from my family and all the problems I had whilst I was at home. Basically, I live with my mum and my older brother (he's 21) at home during the holidays and every time I come home I get blamed for the financial problems that we have. My mum and brother are useless with money and they get themselves into debt because they cannot handle their own money. When I left for uni, the benefits my mum got for being a single parent with a child in education ended and suddenly I became the bad guy for wanting to study in London and make something of my life. My dad lives 30 mins away from us at home with his new wife and my parents have been divorced for 15 years and all my mum does is compare me to him in terms of selfishness and everything. This isn't true because I have given my mum a lot of the money that I am supposed to be living on and I lent my brother £500 and he is paying it back really slowly. My mum borrowed some money off my aunty and she asked me to help pay it back for her. I was more than willing to until nearer Christmas, my money was running out quickly because my rent was more than i expected and I had to pay some money off my student credit card. My mum completely kicked off and shouted at me and told me to get out of her sight and never to come back again from uni (this isn't the first time she has said this, she usually apologises after a few days). I said she was overreacting and said that my aunty isn't exactly desperate for this money and all my mum had to do was wait until I had a bit more money. I have never forgotten how she suddenly changes how she is and slags me off to all our family members when it suits her. My dad said she is jealous of me because I am the first person in my family to go to uni and because I want to be a solicitor she is apparently jealous of my ambitions and the fact that I have such a good time at uni. My brother on the other hand encourages me to go out and have a good time because I didn't have much of a life at home but he never offers to help my mum and he lives with her!!! He has loads of money each week but he spends it on going out with his friends and am I wrong for thinking why is she asking me when all I have is my student loan and he is actually earning money???? My dad doesn't support me financially and he won't either. I can't cope with these constant problems. I have IBS and i feel ill a lot of the time because of these problems and I have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and all my mum said to that was "oh well". Someone please advise me. I am struggling to cope. ( I cannot stay with any other family members during the holidays either) more

Resolved Question: Help with African currancy?!? :) pleasee ?

What is south africa's currency? Ok I'm not sure how the whole thing "money" thing goes so I have a few question (they may sound stupid, but please answer anyways! ) :) can I spend American dollars over there? How much is 1 American dollar compared to African dollars? How would I get African dollars if they don't use American dollars (I have no debit/credit cards, parents won't allow them)?, if I can spend American dollars over there. Resolved Question: Paying for vacation with prepaid credit card?

I'm planning a trip for May to Orlando, FL. Planning on going to Disney, etc. I have more than enough money to cover it and am just comparing hotels as of now. I don't have a credit card and don't want one, I know it'll only get me trouble. I have a personalized prepaid credit card to book with, because I know you can buy airline tickets with it, but I'm not sure about the hotel. The site says a credit card must be issued at check in. It has my name and I have my ID. Do you think I can do this or will I run into a problem at a hotel? I really don't want my vacation screwed up! I'm planning to pay every other trip expense with cash. Thanks for any help! Also, what about the incidental charges? I don't know how much they are where I'm looking but its all so confusing. So lets say, for example, my total cost for x amount of nights is $600. Do I have to have like $1200 to cover it?um, that's why I said I had more than enough to cover it. I don't care how much it costs, I just want to know if I'll get hassled trying to check in. Not worried about expenses, just worried about not being able to check in and be stranded! more

Voting Question: How much should a 21 year old have in savings?

I know this is highly individual, but here are some quick details -Do not pay for my own college -No bills other than my own personal credit card -About 1500 in savings, and 1500 in checkings. -Make about 1200 a month -Graduating college soon to go to medical school. I am not cheap but neither am I wasteful. Since I am planning to become a doctor making 6 figures, I am scared I am wasting my time saving this money since its a small salary compared to physicians, when I could be living life a little more freely. Resolved Question: After marriage, is it possible to have separate property in legal terms?

I have a lot of credit card debt... well maybe not a lot compared to some people, but I think it's a lot. Most of it is due to a "universal default" interest rate that went across ALL my cards when I paid ONE card one day late a few years ago. But that's another story... The reason I'm mentioning this is because I've been thinking about the implications of debt on a spouse in the future. I don't want my debt to be a burden to someone else, and paying it all off anytime in the near future isn't doable at all... I know that in most cases, property people aquire after marriage... such as a home, or land, or car, or whatever... is considered as belonging to both people, and thus is also considered by any debt collector in the process of going after payments... I would not have an issue with allowing property to all be in a spouse's name... such as... house, car, land, etc... being in his name. I would not marry someone who I didn't trust that much anyway... who I didn't trust to use what he is blessed with to also care about me... But is it possible... in the eyes of the law... to be married and also have property be considered only his (and thus not considered for the payment of debts)? I know this varies by state and some states are "community property" states. I live in Missouri, and this is not a community property state... but I still am not sure how it would work or if it's possible to really have him aquire property and have it not be considered part of "my" property as well... Can anyone offer any insight on this? more

Resolved Question: Want to understand the Federal Budget as a Household budget? We are in deep trouble!?

federal government will take in $2.173 trillion in 2011. That’s their income, and it sounds pretty good. Until, that is, you factor in that the federal government will spend $3.818 trillion during the year.Altogether, the government has $14.2 trillion in debt. What would happen if John Q. Public and his wife called my show with these kinds of numbers? Here’s how their financial situation would stack up: If their household income was $55,000 per year, they’d actually be spending $96,500— $41,500 more than they made! That means they’re spending 175% of their annual income! So, in 2011 they’d add $41,500 of debt to their current credit card debt of $366,000! What’s the first step to get out of debt? Stop overspending! You can’t borrow your way out of debt, whether you’re a typical American family or the entire U.S. government. At some point, you’ve got to say, “Enough is enough!” and make the hard cuts necessary to win over the long haul. http://www.daveramsey.com/article/federal-budget-vs-household-budget-how-do-they-compare/lifeandmoney_budgeting/?ectid=1105cnlextra_4 more

Resolved Question: Best way to finance car that costs less than 5000 dollars in usa?

I've been looking at auto loans lately and I've noticed that most of the banking places I've dealt with require at least $7500 for an auto loan for a car that's less then 7 years old and has less than 70k or 80k miles. There are reasonable used vehicles that go from A to B in the market for less than 5000 dollars, but I do not know how to acquire financing to buy one? One option is to use a credit card cash advance, but that has a crazy interest rate compared to normal auto loans. The option of saving until I can buy a used car with cash means I will continue to have to live close to my work place and pay extra in rent for being close to a university for the next three years. Spending enough (7500 or more) to qualify for a normal bank auto loan also seems like a bad idea. more

Resolved Question: My parents are fighting?

My family is having troubles with money and my dad hasn't gotten a good job- he's a landscaper- for years. We've ran out of savings to meet our bills and naturally tension is very high in our house. Well, turns out tonight my father visited a strip club and that made my mom snap. She started to compare him to other fathers of some of my friends, and cussing him out and throwing things and accusing him of lying. She told him to get out and I don't know if she's serious. She also yelled about how she's trying to save every penny while he just uses the credit card recklessly. They have fights every month or so and they're always explosive. I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what should I do to cope? Its really stressing me out and I afraid of divorce. Also, what could I do to help out the situation my family is in? I'm almost 14, so is there any after school jobs I could get or anything else? If you have any other tips that would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance. more

Resolved Question: How to settle my 2nd mortgage?

Im in a Ch13 BK right now which has become all but useless. I originally filed to save my house and repay the arrearages on my first and second mortgages which were fairly significant. In addition to that, I had some other priority debt like tax debt and legal judgements so I was in pretty deep over my head. Compared to most folks, my unsecured debt was pretty light- auto lease, less than $10k in credit cards, few other obligations. I filed in Sept 2010 so Im just about a year and a half into the plan paying $775 a month to the Trustee. At this point, almost all of my priority debt is either treated or paid. The judgements have been paid, and Bank of America offered me a mod on my first mortgage, leaving the tax debt. The IRS decided to get creative and pursued my wife for our owed debt becuase we filed jointly, and I didnt add her as a party to my Ch13 petition. Whether that was bad legal advice or my failure to read the fine print, you decide. I had to enter a payment agreement with them to keep them from levying my wife's wages and Im still paying out to them through my trustee. I need to verify where I stand in my status of case but Im fairly confident that all of my priority debt has now been paid with the exception of the IRS. I dont see the point of paying them twice each month if all that's left in my Ch13 is unsecured debt. I'd rather switch to a 7, keep my $775, and pay the IRS a little quicker. Im expecting a refund this year and that will obviously go towards paying my IRS debt which Im showing to be around $3900. The balance which doesnt get paid by my refund I can redirect the $775 I was paying the trustee and wipe it out fairly quickly. That way I can get my discharge and save the $20,000 or so dollars I'd be paying out over the next 2 years to the Trustee. If that weren't incentive enough, my wife and I are trying to adopt so if we were to continue with the 13 we'd be forfeiting any future refund we'd get with the Adoption Tax Credit while under the plan. The only hitch is my second mortgage. My attorney filed a lien strip motion to have it treated as unsecure debt but that's contingent on completing my plan and receiving a Ch13 discharge. At this point I dont see paying out 20 grand in addition to what could be a sizeable future refund based on the Adoption Tax Credits on a what was a $43k mortgage note. B of A sold the second to Realtime Resolutions who have told me that they can either modify the principal amount and collect payments or I can settle at about 15 cents on the dollar. While I'd love to write a check and make them go away, I dont have the cash and their contention is that they wont make payment arrangements on a reduced principal amount. I dont want to go back to being a slave to this 2nd mortgage (when Im still underwater on the 1st) but the Ch13 plan seems like chasing good money after bad at this point. Anyone who has ever adopted knows how hard it is and Ive come too far to put it on the shelf now. My question is, whats the smartest way to negotaite a settlement on the second? Ive heard of people just ignoring the second for an extended period but Im not willing to take a chance on another judgement or garnishement. Will a company like RTR reduce the principal amount? Just looking for some insight here before I completely commit to rolling my Ch13 to a Ch7. more

Resolved Question: Am I eligible to declare myself as an independent?

So, i'm 21 years old. I make maybe 150-400 a week babysitting depends how many hours I work. So, I pay ALL my bills (phone, car payment, medical debt, tuition, books, food, etc..) and my parents pay 1/4th of my car payment, my whole car insurance, and medical insurance, some food, and shelter. I know they pay a lot, but my expenses are ridiculously high especially since they can't contribute to any of my medical debt (I've paid 1k for it this year on what my insurance did not cover), car payment of 250 a month, phone bill $60 a month, credit cards, 500$ on books, and I have received 7k in tuition loans. Now, there is only so much a dependent student can get for the year and my parents refuse to participate funding for my college, I am wanting to be independent so I can get grants because I feel as if I am very poor compared to my parents (Previous years I've made 5k - 25k yearly ) where they make 100k. So, the fed gov refuses to give me anymore because of their income, however, they don't even want to help with books and at the same time, want to get a tax break off me. Even with the amount they help, it's very hard to struggle with all my expenses. What am I able to do about this? I'd say I pay 50% or more of my bills, but my father doesnt care..he's going to file me as a dependent anyway. more

Resolved Question: Are the conditions for arab terrorists in Israeli jails better than the conditions of the Turkish hotels?

Now the draft about making the conditions for arab bandits kept in Israeli jails for murdering Jewish children and women harsher is under scrutiny of the Jewish Parliament commission - and under the attack of the Left- wingers who are foaming about the "violation of the human rights" - of murderers of course, not of their victims. Below you will find the main proposals of this draft - compared to the curent conditions the State of Israel provides to the people guilty of murdering the citizens of this State. 1 Replacing 9% - fat cheese for breakfast with 5%- fat. (currently, the Arab bandits enjoy the best 9% -fat cheese ) 2- limiting free access to food, portions will be issued on duty in the kitchen (currently, the Arab bandits may eat as much as they wish, 24 hours a day). 3-Limiting Internet use up to 4 hours per day (currently, the Arab bandits have the access to Internet 12 hours a day). 4-Air conditions should be connected only on the particularly hot days Currrently, it´s 24 hours a day, free or cold depending on the weather) 5-Turn off the satellite TV ,only the Israeli channels will be received on the antenna. (currently, the Arab bandits have the satellite TV in Arabic, English, French, Turkish languages) 6- Reduction of severance pay when exiting the prison(currently, the Arab bandits get the payment equal to the average wage in Israel) . 7 Limitation of visits relatives(currently, it is 7 visits a month). 8-Limitation on purchase the products outside the prison with the delivery to the cell (payment by credit card) - only 400 NIS. per month. (Excluding tobacco). (currently, it´s unlimited) 9 Use of mobiles during the daytime only(currently, the Arab bandits can use the mobile phones 18 hours a day. 10-Prohibition of delivery of the foreign press(currently, the “poor terrorists” get the foreign newspapers on demand, free of charge of course). Poor palestinian prisoners" have already written to the Committee of Human Rights of the UN about the brutal tortures the Zionists want to expose them to with this bill. P.S. I ´ve been in many Turkish hotels and in quite a lot of them the conditions are not even 50% as good as the conditions Israel provides to the low scum who murdered Jewish chidlren. Maybe Israel should offer Turkey to host the arab bandits in their hotels, with Israel paying for this? For Israel it would be cheaper, Turkey would be happy because it would increase improve the situation for many of the half- empty Turkish hotels, and the terrorists would be kept in worse conditions.Dan Dan, I had the same idea, but when I tried to make a reservation in some Israeli jail, I met a with a problem; there was not a SINGLE VACANT CELL!!! An absolute overbooking! The Administration of Jails informed me that arabs reserved all the cells at least 3 years from now, even in the "low season". Just imagine! more

Resolved Question: Do I ask my boyfriend for the money he owes me?

Over the holidays my bf had planned to go out to a great place for dinner for weeks. He wanted to take me to this place for a long time. Now, first off,he always takes me out and treats me great. That night he had left his credit card at work and I ended up footing the bill-$600. I am still a student with a loan, him, makes a lot of money. We used my card, then went by his work to get his card, and he said he would give me the cash. It has been a month and I mentioned it tohim once he said he would give it to me. I honestly didn't have enought to pay my school bill this month and am stuck with this ridiculous dinner bill. What bothers me is that he didn't think of having the cash ready for me right away (not even a month later). He has never borrowed money before, but compared to him, I am broke and make 1/10 of what he does, plus a lot younger. more

Resolved Question: How to deal with my boyfreinds evil younger sister?

My boyfreind of 2 years has a horrible younger sister. we are in our twenties and she is 2 years younger than us. Since day one she hasn't liked me because she was more attached to his ex.. I can kind of understand that cz if my brother got a new gf it would take a while to adjust to the new one.. but surely after 2 years she would have become used to the fact that i've been around a while, and going to stick around a lot longer than she would like. She has always tried to exclude me by suggesting "family only" trips, weekends, dinners, outings, everything. She even went as far as telling me to leave and go home because they were going to have a family dinner and i wasn't allowed to be there. She always talks about family only things infront of me, almost like shes trying to rub it in that im not considered family and i wont be included. Im sure if she had a bf it would be different. She claims that i have pushed all his friends away (not true), that ive changed him, in a bad way, and that hes sees too much of me and shes getting sick of me being at his house. We would move out together if we could afford to but its not an option at the moment.. recently we all went away together, and she was so horrible to me that I went home a week early because I couldnt handle any more of her manipulative behaviour, and constant abuse. and now she hasnt spoken to me since. she ignores me when ever we are in the same room together, and told her brother( my bf) that im the problem, and if i didnt have such a "tone" she wouldnt be so mean. I have been having a hard enough time at home with my parents and so have been relying on my bf for support. she is now saying that shes sick of me compaining and being upset, and that im just after attention and sympathy from his family. She has no idea what its like to have real problems in life because her mother worshipps the ground she walks on. she is incerdibly spoilt and never worked a full day in her life. she still doesnt work, insisting shes too busy, plus she gets $200 a week from her parents and unlimited use of daddys credit card so why would she work?? Im not jealous of her life of luxury, since i got my first job at 14 iv had to pay for everything myself.. it sucks compared to her siutaion but atleast i appreciate the money I have, and work hard to support myself. and atleast im not a spoilt brat. I have supported her countless times when my bf has been mean to her, which has caused some problems in my relationship, but im sticking up for what i feel is right and sometimes he is a bit hard on her. But she just doesnt appreciate any help or support i have given her. Bascally its horrible being around her because she is either insulting me or ignoring me and i dont know how to deal with her. I cant confront her because then she will turn their parents against me because she is so manipulative. she will twist every word i say, or just lie, to make me sound like the bad guy. My bf has already tried to talk to her but she just deflected everything off her and put all the blame on me. I know she wants me out but unfortunately for her im going to be around a lot longer than she would like. more

Voting Question: How do I find out my savings account interest?

We have 2 savings accounts and I am trying to figure out which one has the better interest rate. When i have a credit card account, I simply pull up the statement and the interest or APR is clearly listed on there. Well, with my savings statement it shows an APY, but it varies every month (I guess it depends on the amount of money that's on the account maybe?) How do I find out the set interest percentage so that I can compare between the two accounts? Thanks more

Resolved Question: disputing a credit card charge ruined my credit score what to do?

it is mastercard. march 2011 I disputed a charge for $300. I submited my letter and evidence. They got back to me it went sort of slow compared to disputing visa charges. They refunded me in June but they said it was temporary and the company would have their chance to decline the refund. Mastercard told me to call them to ask personally (which I had already dont). In November the company denied the refund and the charge was put back on my card. I called mastercard and they said that the 180 days of dispute had past and I cant get refunded. I sent them another fax requesting to talk to a supervisor which they never responded it. I had perfect credit before this, because I didnt pay back the money in dispute (which by law I dont have to do) my credit is now very low. I never missed a payment or even made minimum payments ever in my life. to sum it up: what do I do now? if I pay they back the $300 and demand they refund me all the various late fees, they have little incentive to fix my credit. How do I make them fix my credit BEFORE i pay? thanks more
