Open Question: How safe are proxy servers?
Given the renewed anti-piracy clampdown on various movie streaming websites, films that were, until quite recently, easy to google and stream for free (in a matter of minutes from pc switch-on) have become a lot more difficult to track down - some appear to no longer available to watch free on the net (free is not being fooled into downloading a load of dodgy, unwanted crap onto your pc and then receiving even dodgier request for your credit card info! ;). The fall back option now becomes p2p (again), which obviously takes much longer to obtain the film - my torrent d/l is 850kB/s max and sometimes around 60-80 kB/s, then you have to leave the file to seed - which further limits any subsequent torrent downloads. Fine, I abide by p2p convention and can also live with this drawn-out process (compared to streaming), however, I feel the average p2p user is now at much greater risk from prosecution/fines etc than they were, say 6 months ago - especially if they are in possession versions of the more expensive software suites, or other high value digital product (as opposed to single copyrighted songs/albums).
My questions are,
i/ how much extra protection would a proxy server provide?
I understand IP basics. in that proxy servers act as an intermediary between a computer's net id (external IP - mine is dhcp, IPv4) and basically mirror/re-route the connection path between my external IP and the net - so basically are a false flag.
ii/ Apparently DHCP can sometimes leave your external IP unchanged - not referring to Sticky IP's here; just bog standard dynamic, (which i understood changed each time you switched your pc on)..., how safe/effective is the proxy server in this instance?
iii/ I have no concern about the legitimacy of the sites I regular visit (apart from accessing / downloading torrents - though if this data falls in the wrong hands, I am at much greater risk from 'a knock on my cyber-door', or worse.. As the proxy server will basically have data on real location, sites visited and a route to your pc - are proxy server users at greater data risk?
iv/Given that proxy servers have your real IP (and I'm sure the servers would retain data logs), are users then more vulnerable to hacking etc than standard p2p conn.s?
Cheers in advance
AdrianI'm getting plenty of references to vpn/proxy services, however, my questions about proxy servers and security remain unanswered - before you post an answer for a question you think I am asking, read my question and answer what I am actually asking pleaseCheersAdrian
moreVoting Question: How can you tell if your tickets from Ticketmaster will work?
I recently bought a pair of tickets for a Bruce Springsteen concert from a guy I met off Craigslist, the tickets are real. I compared them with a real copy, plus they came with his receipt attached with credit card info, date, address, etc ... But I've read that tickets can become void, like through refunds, scanning them and what not. I was just wondering if there's a solid way to find out if the tickets will work. Because I don't want to go to the concert the day of and be turned down because my tickets don't work.
moreVoting Question: How to deal with stress and family problems. Please help!?
Basically, I am 20 years old and I am in my 2nd year at university and I love being there because it has allowed me to escape in a way from my family and all the problems I had whilst I was at home. Basically, I live with my mum and my older brother (he's 21) at home during the holidays and every time I come home I get blamed for the financial problems that we have. My mum and brother are useless with money and they get themselves into debt because they cannot handle their own money. When I left for uni, the benefits my mum got for being a single parent with a child in education ended and suddenly I became the bad guy for wanting to study in London and make something of my life. My dad lives 30 mins away from us at home with his new wife and my parents have been divorced for 15 years and all my mum does is compare me to him in terms of selfishness and everything. This isn't true because I have given my mum a lot of the money that I am supposed to be living on and I lent my brother £500 and he is paying it back really slowly. My mum borrowed some money off my aunty and she asked me to help pay it back for her. I was more than willing to until nearer Christmas, my money was running out quickly because my rent was more than i expected and I had to pay some money off my student credit card. My mum completely kicked off and shouted at me and told me to get out of her sight and never to come back again from uni (this isn't the first time she has said this, she usually apologises after a few days). I said she was overreacting and said that my aunty isn't exactly desperate for this money and all my mum had to do was wait until I had a bit more money. I have never forgotten how she suddenly changes how she is and slags me off to all our family members when it suits her. My dad said she is jealous of me because I am the first person in my family to go to uni and because I want to be a solicitor she is apparently jealous of my ambitions and the fact that I have such a good time at uni. My brother on the other hand encourages me to go out and have a good time because I didn't have much of a life at home but he never offers to help my mum and he lives with her!!! He has loads of money each week but he spends it on going out with his friends and am I wrong for thinking why is she asking me when all I have is my student loan and he is actually earning money???? My dad doesn't support me financially and he won't either. I can't cope with these constant problems. I have IBS and i feel ill a lot of the time because of these problems and I have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and all my mum said to that was "oh well". Someone please advise me. I am struggling to cope. ( I cannot stay with any other family members during the holidays either)
moreResolved Question: What bills do i include in my debt-to-income ratio when buying a home?
I'm looking into purchasing a home, but my DTI ratio seems a bit high compared to the standard 28/36 rule. I was wondering if I am supposed to include bills such as: cell phone bill & car insurance payment in the ratio. Below are the current items I am including as ''debt'' when calculating the ratio:
-2 student loans
-2 credit cards
-car loan
-car insurance
-cell phone bill
-estimated amount of mortgage if i purchased a home
are any of those not supposed to be included in the computation?
moreResolved Question: After marriage, is it possible to have separate property in legal terms?
I have a lot of credit card debt... well maybe not a lot compared to some people, but I think it's a lot. Most of it is due to a "universal default" interest rate that went across ALL my cards when I paid ONE card one day late a few years ago. But that's another story...
The reason I'm mentioning this is because I've been thinking about the implications of debt on a spouse in the future. I don't want my debt to be a burden to someone else, and paying it all off anytime in the near future isn't doable at all...
I know that in most cases, property people aquire after marriage... such as a home, or land, or car, or whatever... is considered as belonging to both people, and thus is also considered by any debt collector in the process of going after payments...
I would not have an issue with allowing property to all be in a spouse's name... such as... house, car, land, etc... being in his name. I would not marry someone who I didn't trust that much anyway... who I didn't trust to use what he is blessed with to also care about me...
But is it possible... in the eyes of the law... to be married and also have property be considered only his (and thus not considered for the payment of debts)? I know this varies by state and some states are "community property" states. I live in Missouri, and this is not a community property state... but I still am not sure how it would work or if it's possible to really have him aquire property and have it not be considered part of "my" property as well...
Can anyone offer any insight on this?
moreResolved Question: Want to understand the Federal Budget as a Household budget? We are in deep trouble!?
federal government will take in $2.173 trillion in 2011. That’s their income, and it sounds pretty good. Until, that is, you factor in that the federal government will spend $3.818 trillion during the year.Altogether, the government has $14.2 trillion in debt.
What would happen if John Q. Public and his wife called my show with these kinds of numbers? Here’s how their financial situation would stack up:
If their household income was $55,000 per year, they’d actually be spending $96,500—
$41,500 more than they made! That means they’re spending 175% of their annual income! So, in 2011 they’d add $41,500 of debt to their current credit card debt of $366,000!
What’s the first step to get out of debt? Stop overspending!
You can’t borrow your way out of debt, whether you’re a typical American family or the entire U.S. government. At some point, you’ve got to say, “Enough is enough!” and make the hard cuts necessary to win over the long haul.

moreResolved Question: Best way to finance car that costs less than 5000 dollars in usa?
I've been looking at auto loans lately and I've noticed that most of the banking places I've dealt with require at least $7500 for an auto loan for a car that's less then 7 years old and has less than 70k or 80k miles. There are reasonable used vehicles that go from A to B in the market for less than 5000 dollars, but I do not know how to acquire financing to buy one?
One option is to use a credit card cash advance, but that has a crazy interest rate compared to normal auto loans. The option of saving until I can buy a used car with cash means I will continue to have to live close to my work place and pay extra in rent for being close to a university for the next three years. Spending enough (7500 or more) to qualify for a normal bank auto loan also seems like a bad idea.

moreVoting Question: Can a Hospital Ruin My Credit if I Don't Have a Credit Card?
Hi,
I am eighteen years old, and in October was in a car accident, we were not at fault, but me and my boyfriend had to go to the ER for a check over. He was quickly helped by his family to have the insurance pay the claims, while I was left to handle the claims on my own. I never got around to it because I knew little about how to pay a bill so I put it off and tossed the medical bills aside without giving them a second glance. I have a job and am a college student so I learned how easy it was to put off important tasks.
Now it is February and I finally sat down to get this done, and I have a "Final Notice" In my hand that conveniently has no date or deadline. I am really scared of the consequences of a simple mistake, and would really like to know fast, "Can A Hospital Ruin My Credit If I Don't Have A Credit Card?" Now that I am aware of the importance of paying my medical bills quickly I plan on fixing this as soon as possible, like, tomorrow at eight and calling all of these people, but I would like to know how deep am I in? I was hoping that by paying in cash I could avoid a bad credit, also my bill isn't that large of an amount compared to most medical bills around $445, but I think that doesn't matter much...
If you know anything about this thank you so much for your help and comments.

moreResolved Question: My parents are fighting?
My family is having troubles with money and my dad hasn't gotten a good job- he's a landscaper- for years. We've ran out of savings to meet our bills and naturally tension is very high in our house. Well, turns out tonight my father visited a strip club and that made my mom snap. She started to compare him to other fathers of some of my friends, and cussing him out and throwing things and accusing him of lying. She told him to get out and I don't know if she's serious. She also yelled about how she's trying to save every penny while he just uses the credit card recklessly. They have fights every month or so and they're always explosive.
I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what should I do to cope? Its really stressing me out and I afraid of divorce. Also, what could I do to help out the situation my family is in? I'm almost 14, so is there any after school jobs I could get or anything else? If you have any other tips that would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance.

moreResolved Question: How to settle my 2nd mortgage?
Im in a Ch13 BK right now which has become all but useless. I originally filed to save my house and repay the arrearages on my first and second mortgages which were fairly significant. In addition to that, I had some other priority debt like tax debt and legal judgements so I was in pretty deep over my head. Compared to most folks, my unsecured debt was pretty light- auto lease, less than $10k in credit cards, few other obligations. I filed in Sept 2010 so Im just about a year and a half into the plan paying $775 a month to the Trustee.
At this point, almost all of my priority debt is either treated or paid. The judgements have been paid, and Bank of America offered me a mod on my first mortgage, leaving the tax debt. The IRS decided to get creative and pursued my wife for our owed debt becuase we filed jointly, and I didnt add her as a party to my Ch13 petition. Whether that was bad legal advice or my failure to read the fine print, you decide. I had to enter a payment agreement with them to keep them from levying my wife's wages and Im still paying out to them through my trustee.
I need to verify where I stand in my status of case but Im fairly confident that all of my priority debt has now been paid with the exception of the IRS. I dont see the point of paying them twice each month if all that's left in my Ch13 is unsecured debt. I'd rather switch to a 7, keep my $775, and pay the IRS a little quicker. Im expecting a refund this year and that will obviously go towards paying my IRS debt which Im showing to be around $3900. The balance which doesnt get paid by my refund I can redirect the $775 I was paying the trustee and wipe it out fairly quickly. That way I can get my discharge and save the $20,000 or so dollars I'd be paying out over the next 2 years to the Trustee. If that weren't incentive enough, my wife and I are trying to adopt so if we were to continue with the 13 we'd be forfeiting any future refund we'd get with the Adoption Tax Credit while under the plan.
The only hitch is my second mortgage. My attorney filed a lien strip motion to have it treated as unsecure debt but that's contingent on completing my plan and receiving a Ch13 discharge. At this point I dont see paying out 20 grand in addition to what could be a sizeable future refund based on the Adoption Tax Credits on a what was a $43k mortgage note. B of A sold the second to Realtime Resolutions who have told me that they can either modify the principal amount and collect payments or I can settle at about 15 cents on the dollar. While I'd love to write a check and make them go away, I dont have the cash and their contention is that they wont make payment arrangements on a reduced principal amount.
I dont want to go back to being a slave to this 2nd mortgage (when Im still underwater on the 1st) but the Ch13 plan seems like chasing good money after bad at this point. Anyone who has ever adopted knows how hard it is and Ive come too far to put it on the shelf now. My question is, whats the smartest way to negotaite a settlement on the second? Ive heard of people just ignoring the second for an extended period but Im not willing to take a chance on another judgement or garnishement. Will a company like RTR reduce the principal amount? Just looking for some insight here before I completely commit to rolling my Ch13 to a Ch7.
moreResolved Question: Do I ask my boyfriend for the money he owes me?
Over the holidays my bf had planned to go out to a great place for dinner for weeks. He wanted to take me to this place for a long time. Now, first off,he always takes me out and treats me great. That night he had left his credit card at work and I ended up footing the bill-$600. I am still a student with a loan, him, makes a lot of money. We used my card, then went by his work to get his card, and he said he would give me the cash. It has been a month and I mentioned it tohim once he said he would give it to me.
I honestly didn't have enought to pay my school bill this month and am stuck with this ridiculous dinner bill. What bothers me is that he didn't think of having the cash ready for me right away (not even a month later). He has never borrowed money before, but compared to him, I am broke and make 1/10 of what he does, plus a lot younger.
moreResolved Question: How to deal with my boyfreinds evil younger sister?
My boyfreind of 2 years has a horrible younger sister. we are in our twenties and she is 2 years younger than us. Since day one she hasn't liked me because she was more attached to his ex.. I can kind of understand that cz if my brother got a new gf it would take a while to adjust to the new one.. but surely after 2 years she would have become used to the fact that i've been around a while, and going to stick around a lot longer than she would like. She has always tried to exclude me by suggesting "family only" trips, weekends, dinners, outings, everything. She even went as far as telling me to leave and go home because they were going to have a family dinner and i wasn't allowed to be there. She always talks about family only things infront of me, almost like shes trying to rub it in that im not considered family and i wont be included. Im sure if she had a bf it would be different.
She claims that i have pushed all his friends away (not true), that ive changed him, in a bad way, and that hes sees too much of me and shes getting sick of me being at his house. We would move out together if we could afford to but its not an option at the moment..
recently we all went away together, and she was so horrible to me that I went home a week early because I couldnt handle any more of her manipulative behaviour, and constant abuse. and now she hasnt spoken to me since. she ignores me when ever we are in the same room together, and told her brother( my bf) that im the problem, and if i didnt have such a "tone" she wouldnt be so mean.
I have been having a hard enough time at home with my parents and so have been relying on my bf for support. she is now saying that shes sick of me compaining and being upset, and that im just after attention and sympathy from his family. She has no idea what its like to have real problems in life because her mother worshipps the ground she walks on. she is incerdibly spoilt and never worked a full day in her life. she still doesnt work, insisting shes too busy, plus she gets $200 a week from her parents and unlimited use of daddys credit card so why would she work??
Im not jealous of her life of luxury, since i got my first job at 14 iv had to pay for everything myself.. it sucks compared to her siutaion but atleast i appreciate the money I have, and work hard to support myself. and atleast im not a spoilt brat.
I have supported her countless times when my bf has been mean to her, which has caused some problems in my relationship, but im sticking up for what i feel is right and sometimes he is a bit hard on her. But she just doesnt appreciate any help or support i have given her.
Bascally its horrible being around her because she is either insulting me or ignoring me and i dont know how to deal with her. I cant confront her because then she will turn their parents against me because she is so manipulative. she will twist every word i say, or just lie, to make me sound like the bad guy. My bf has already tried to talk to her but she just deflected everything off her and put all the blame on me. I know she wants me out but unfortunately for her im going to be around a lot longer than she would like.
moreVoting Question: How do I find out my savings account interest?
We have 2 savings accounts and I am trying to figure out which one has the better interest rate. When i have a credit card account, I simply pull up the statement and the interest or APR is clearly listed on there. Well, with my savings statement it shows an APY, but it varies every month (I guess it depends on the amount of money that's on the account maybe?)
How do I find out the set interest percentage so that I can compare between the two accounts?
Thanks
moreResolved Question: disputing a credit card charge ruined my credit score what to do?
it is mastercard. march 2011 I disputed a charge for $300. I submited my letter and evidence. They got back to me it went sort of slow compared to disputing visa charges. They refunded me in June but they said it was temporary and the company would have their chance to decline the refund. Mastercard told me to call them to ask personally (which I had already dont). In November the company denied the refund and the charge was put back on my card. I called mastercard and they said that the 180 days of dispute had past and I cant get refunded. I sent them another fax requesting to talk to a supervisor which they never responded it. I had perfect credit before this, because I didnt pay back the money in dispute (which by law I dont have to do) my credit is now very low. I never missed a payment or even made minimum payments ever in my life.
to sum it up: what do I do now? if I pay they back the $300 and demand they refund me all the various late fees, they have little incentive to fix my credit. How do I make them fix my credit BEFORE i pay? thanks
moreVoting Question: Can the back pay off my credit card and I pay the money back to them in increments?
I have a credit card with a $500 dollar limit on it and I want to pay all of that off and just save it for emergencies only. I was thinking about going to my bank (Bank of America) and asking if they would pay my remaning balance and let me pay them back for doing that. Does anyone know if they or any other bank would do this? I ask because compared to others the amount I want paid off is pretty low.

I have a stepbrother who really needs to have an intervention and get his life together, he is 28 going on 29. A little background on him. He currently will go to his legitimate job may three days out of the week if even that, he spends most of his nights out all night partying and then sleeping in and playing video games all day. That is one of the problems is that his boss which is also his dads boss has a big heart and likes him and just won’t fire him or even threaten to fire him. He gets his other money by dealing drugs(weed) and from his mom that spoils him and just hands him the credit card to keep him out of her hair so he can go buy whatever, he is currently living with her. His dad is not helping the situation either because he will give him money when he runs out of his funds that go mostly to partying and his drugs. My plan that I want to propose is that his Dad, Mom and Boss who are all the people that are enabling his behavior sit down together and let him know that the party is over, his mom and dad need to let him know that they will not be financing his ways anymore and the boss man needs to let him know that if he doesn’t show up to work he is fired. I know that his parents are worried that he is going to just go out and do something really stupid if they do this but his life has already gotten to the point of ridiculous. I can imagine that working a full work week and having responsibilities is going to be pretty boring compared to his current party life and hot women that he gets. If someone could also tell me why he gets the hot women also. I just don’t see any easy way to do this.
moreResolved Question: Whats a good air miles credit card?
Hey everyone I'm looking into getting a air miles credit card. I spend a lot money on school tuition, gas, clothes, a bit of groceries and food. I don't know a lot about different credit cards so I'm looking for some peoples opinions or maybe give me a good detail sight. I'm wondering if a miles card says 1 mile per 1$ spent is it a dollar anywhere like even if i buy like a dollar candy bar or like 1000's$ worth of school tuition do i get those miles or am i limited to certain things like groceries. I don't want it to be like I'm using people when i can research this but some things are just tricky online. In addition i was wondering if a card has a interest fee does that interest fee apply if i can pay it off right away. I know that most cards have a annual fee to just have the card. If i spend 2000$ and right when i get the bill i am able to pay it with out a delay its still only 2000$? Thanks guys links with info comparing cards would be nice too thanks. Also i don't have a credit line yet, however my mom is great credit idk if that helps in any way of getting a credit card.
moreResolved Question: Why did my Vantage score drop 10 points ?
I showed a $171 balance on a credit card compared to the prior months of zero, that is, I paid it in full prior to the statement date.
My vantage score went from 903 to 893. NOTHING ELSE CHANGED or happened. My Discover card limit is $30,000 so $171 is not a large amount.
My Transrisk & insurance scores didn't change.
I was under the impression that some debt was better than no debt for credit scoring purposes.
Clearly, that is not the case for the vantage score. WHY NOT ?
https://www.creditkarma.com/report/ccuI didnt mean carry a balance,I meant have a balance on the statement ending date.I do not pay interest. Ever.

I ve been dating this guy for almost 2 years, and we have recently fought because he gave me an emergency credit card to use just in case like 4 mos ago, results that i had an emergency for gas of 5 dlls, and he wanted it paid back, arguing that just because it was an emergency i didnt have to pay , I didnt want to make it a big deal and i just paid that back, now today he told me that as soon as i graduate and ,get a job i am going to have to pay for 2 years of dating that he is financed for 2 years now, I got so upset telling him that the other guy i dated for over a year never ever stoppped me from ordering drinks like he does, an never ever mentioned me having to pay for anything if i didnt want to, dude i am not even ugly if like i a size 4 9'7'' athletic 23 year old girl, i am so confident i dont need to go through this, the reason i tolerated him its cause i wanted to practice a future marriage, but now i feel like i cant count on him at all, i compare it like if my mom after i graduate she is also going to charge me for 23 years of raising costs. I got so mad, what should i do???Like i dont even need to go to 5 star restaurants, im fine if i just stay at home, but he likes to be served, t of course if i am getting paid back, id go anywhere....he is acting like i dont spend money on all the clothes i get to look cute, the make up that is so costy, i always complain about the way he dresses that i dont like and he says that "any guy" is lke this and that, but when it comes to his i tell him "any guy will pay" and now he is not "any guy" he is :This guy"hahah sorry i am 5'7'' SORRY I AM IN THE DARK :(Guys i also want to clarify this guy is not on any economic bad time at all, he is not rich, but certainly has a white collar job, and once he graduates he will be loking for a 80 000 dlls a year,im am the one always telling him i hate going too much to five star restaurants cause im a fit person, and cheaper cause i am a vegetarian, and i dotn drink 95% of times the drinks im taling are like soda or sweet tea at restaurants, and i have only gotten like 4 giftsGuys i also want to clarify this guy is not on any economic bad time at all, he is not rich, but certainly has a white collar job, and once he graduates he will be loking for a 80 000 dlls a year,im am the one always telling him i hate going too much to five star restaurants cause im a fit person, and cheaper cause i am a vegetarian, and i dotn drink 95% of times the drinks im taling are like soda or sweet tea at restaurants, and i have only gotten like 4 giftsif it wasnt cause i really love him, but dammn i also know i loved my ex boyfriend too, but loving someone else is also possible, i admit we prolly dont respect each other as we should cause sometimes im bitchy and i ignore him with his attitudes, and cause i tell him he needs to loose weight, but, damm not because of that im stopping dating him, but this is bullshit, i am really offended like im not worth 50 dlls dinner for both
moreResolved Question: how much do you pay for your car insurance per month?
Hey, a little bit about myself. I'm 19, undergrad freshman. My cousin just graduated from berkeley and is leaving the country so he's giving me his 2001 Lexus IS300 (shitty MPG i know). I know that as a teen, insurance is expensive. I found Geico quote for $141 a month. How much are you guys paying? (Preferably someone in my age group so I can compare). Also, are you paying as an individual or under your family plan? I am paying for my own phone bill, own credit card bill, and my own car now so cheapest is my number one priority. Anyone paying less? Which insurance company is best, in terms of cheaper pricing relative to their service? Thanks!
moreResolved Question: Am I wearily or middle class?
I'm a middle school girl and I am very down-to-earth and I like babysitting and helping the community but I was just wondering what is considered to be rich, material wise...? I mean, my mom has expensive taste and doesn't really mind spending a thousand dollars shopping but I'll just say basically a summary of my possessions and stuff so you can decide. I'm not here to brag, I'm not a little 9 year old who watches Disney and tells everybody their rich and that their Daddy owns everything. It's not like that. I'm just confused in this economy. Here I go:
I wear Abercrombie, Hollister, Gilly Hicks, Forever 21, and I own 1 PINK jacket and 1 Juicy Couture jacket.
My shoes are nothing special, VANS and flats and one pair of Coach wedges.
I have a Juicy Couture charm bracelet and a Coach rain hat.
About 3 pairs of UGG boots
A few Coach purses and a wallet, nothing special
I have a debit/credit American Express Card my mom got me for shopping w/ friends
My mom drives a red Lexus F-Sport IS350
I hold a Disneyland Premium pass and I go to Disneyland every other month
In 2011 I went to the island of Maui twice on a week long vacation and the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort
My makeup is average: Covergirl, Sephora, Clinique, and Benefit Cosmetics
I use some expensive lip gloss like Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Sephora, Beauty Rush by Victoria's Secret, and MAC
My room is decked out in owls and is pretty spacious for my daily life
I have a microscopic walk-in closet (I don't consider it to be one since Its just like a 6x6 square...)
I have a 11inch flat screen in my room
I am going on a 3,000 dollar trip with my school in a few months
My mom wants me to go to a 15k a year private school
My mom makes 200k a year

I know it's not my money but my parents and I live in a pretty nice neighborhood so my stuff isn't anything compared to everyone else's. I AM NOT LYING OR BRAGGING! I would not lie just o get attention, I'm not Rich, But tell me your opinion. :)

moreResolved Question: How is my financial situation compared to other 25 year olds? Please help...?
Okay, I'm 25 years old and was living well beyond my means up until 6 months ago when I decided to change my financial future. Since then I've paid off all credit cards, my car loan, and one small student loan. I still have $10,000 in subsidized federal stafford loans which are locked in at 6.8% interest. However, other than that I'm completely debt free and have a $3,000 emergency fund. I'm single and make a $40,000 annual salary, not including potential monthly bonuses. How would you rate my financial situation compared to others in my age group? Additionally, should I throw every extra dollar towards paying off my student loan or invest in a retirement/savings account since my employer doesn't offer a 401K match? Thanks for your input.

moreResolved Question: Paypal and dbay question?
It's almost impossible to use ebay without paypal. That would be ok, but I'm getting emails from paypal requiring me to provide a bank account number and password. Emails to paypal did not provide any answer except "policy".
I have a positive account with paypal and they have a credit card number, why do they require a bank account? Is there anything I can do to avoid this? I guess I could setup a dummy bank account with a few dollars in it, but ....
Banks can be evil, but compared to paypal, they are angels. And they have a monopoly!Oh, and I do NOT want paypal to have access to my bank account. For obvious reasons.Oh, it is from Paypal. They didn't ask me directly, they directed me to fill out a long form and one of the pages was a request for bank account number and password. I didn't fill that out, and next day got a note from paypal asking me to fill out a reader satisfaction survey.Sure, I can see advantages to linking paypal to a bank account. For them. But it should not be a requirement. Basically I'm locked out of ebay unless I provide this link.Oh, and I ran into this before, the email for possible fake paypal messages, spoof@paypal.com, is refused by my service provider. I ran into this before.
moreResolved Question: Which credit card is better? BDO, BPI or Metrobank?
I currently own an HSBC master card and I want to have a local visa card as a back-up. What can you recommend? I have a BPI and Metrobank checking and savings account. I can automatically debit my credit card bills from my accounts if ever I get BPI or Metrobank credit card. Although, BPI doesn't have a Visa card and I heard, both are not that generous with credit limit. Is BDO generous with credit limit? My only concern with BDO is that, they're not Bancnet affiliated and I don't have an account with them. I have to go to a BDO branch everytime I pay my bills. Although, there are a lot of BDO around and they are open after office hours and whatnot. I'm also considering another Bancnet affiliated company for easier payment process for me. Standard Chartered has a low annual fee compared to others. They don't have a lot of branches around though. And they're not local. Are they generous with credit limits? Do you have any other suggestions of a good visa card that has a low annual fee and provides decent credit limit?

I'm going to use it mainly for online purchases and I will always deposit money before making any payments. The only difference I know so far is that Maestro's yearly service payment is ~30% cheaper where I live.
Is there any downsides in this situation of having Maestro card over MasterCard or Visa, and if so, what are they?
P.S. Please answer only if you know for sure. I really hate when people answer without any additional info...
Thank you! Also not having money for a few days in case of losing the card isn't an issue for me. I'm looking more at compatibility, etc..
moreResolved Question: Applying to work at a bank, great resume but bad credit?
I'm applying for a second job at a bank down the street from my first job. I have a solid resume, a job I kept for six years where I eventually became a supervisor for three of those years, worked for the federal government, did a year as a cashier and now I'm at J. Crew. I did make a few mistakes when I was 18 and got into more debt than I could afford to pay for inital college expenses (room and board deposit, food and transportation), and now I'm about $3,000 in credit card debt. Not bad compared to some, but a lot for me. I'm in the process of paying it off, but its not going to come off my report for another two years, according to the MA statute of limitations, regardless of whether or not it's paid in full. I really need this job, especially since working another retail job would mean forty hours a week of hell-NOT feasible while being a student. What should I do? Would it be worth it to apply, or should I look for another job that pays more than minimum wage?

Hello everybody. I have just sent EthosLab a PM to help and he hasn't got back to me. Here is what I sent:
!MUST READ PLEASE! Why Do I get no Views? Please Read and help...
Hello Etho,
I know this is long but please read, It will make me happy for you to view and reply to this message.
This is MrThunderbomb, as you can see from the name. I am fairly new to your AMAZING channel, every night I look foreward to watching your Minecraft LP, I am currently up to ep50, a long way to go eh... Anyway, when I watch your video's, it gets me in the mood for making a video of my own the next day, but then I think to myself, "Whats the point? Who's going to watch my Minecraft LP?" (from my point of view it's pretty good). The only people who are going to watch it are TheSpyChef, robbo1806, (my other mate who hasn't got a YouTube channel), and somethimes Mr12Luke, very rarely I get about 300 views, usually on a DSkyrim video, but I can't do them because, my capture card for my TV is frustrating to setup and to convert the Audacity commentary, therefore I use my camera, my camera runs out of batteries VERY quick, therefore, it sometimes doesn't make it through the video... On one Skyrim video, I got 360 views, the highest amount of views I've ever got on a video, but then on, they just died down...
I am like whats the point, my aim is to get a YouTube Partnership, from the way I'm going, I'll never get one... Is there anything that you can do? Well yes, obviously, eg. shot-outs if you enjoy or think somebody else will enjoy my content, you can ask me to build you something that you can copy and make yourself. In ep49 of your LP, I think, you said about giving credit to you, the same sort of 'rules' apply to me; another thing you could do is visit and make a video on my server, (well, it's actually me mates, TheSpyChef, but I want to go on it more than he does and i go on it more than he does, I will try to get him to open it for a night so you can go on it, I said a night because of the time difference, I'm in the UK and your in the USA or Canada I think, something like that.)
So yeah, thanks.
I will give you a BIG shout-out if you do this, but it may not be worth it because I GET NO VIEWS... Hope you feel kinda... sorta... sorry for me, well if you know what I mean, like that feeling you get when you just want to help. SO PLEASE HELP, I'M BEGGING!
Signed MrThunderbomb
PS: I have tried the same with BrenyBeast, CaptainSparklez, Neoka28 (my favourite YouTuber, you're second ;-) ) and they havn't replied, you said in your LP you will read EVERY PM and try to reply to them...
Remember, you have loads of subscribers, you may not think it but look, compare it to mine, 66 and 72,274 when I looked; big big difference, but it;s the views that I want more than the subscribers, but still, subscribers would be nice ;-)
BYE!

Thanks for your response. I satisfied with the bike and want to purchase it from you at the said amount. I am a US army Medic currently deployed with the 10th Mountain Division serving in provinces of Wardak and Logar in Regional Command East Afghanistan and out here it is difficult accessing a phone regularly due to the nature of my profession and I’m getting this bike for my partner. I will not be able to come for inspection, hence will arrange for pick up and delivery of the bike to Malaysia and all paper work regarding the purchase of the bike will be handled by the pick up agent on my behalf as they posses the power of attorney to do so, after i have made purchase. I would be happy if you could send me one or two more photos of the bike and will also need your word as a guaranty that the condition of the bike is as described online.
I am gladly going to make payment to you via pay pal and all i require to effect payment to you is your pay pal name and pay pal email id (email address associated with your pay pal account). moreResolved Question: Does anyone know of a Auction Site that ............ ?
I may be urinating in an oncoming typhoon, but is their an auction site (Other than Craigslist) that allows you to place your item for sale with no charge and attracts thousands or more potential shoppers everyday. Also, it is imperative that I am not forced to use Paypal or some other credit card acceptance company. I know more people will buy if I accept credit cards, however, I have had far too many problems with Paypal and I just don't want that headache anymore.
Craigslist is great. I sell items frequently from listings on Craigslist, but the amount of shoppers is low compared to somewhere like Ebay. I will no longer put my items on Ebay due to all the charges that is levied and the falling out I had with paypal.
I figure Craigslist may be the only one, but if you are aware of any others, I would certainly like to check it out. Thanks..........I am quite informed on Ebay and Paypal and I want nothing to do with either one of them. Here in the USA, you cannot sell things on Ebay without a Paypal account or another credit card service. It is just to many fees. Ebay has become so ridiculously competitive that the after you pay fees and paypal percentages, you have very little left over. I make 4 times profit on Craigslist that I do on Ebay. However, you are correct, it does not have the viewers that Ebay has. That is why I asked the question. Thanks.
moreResolved Question: My family thinks I'm the screwed up one:(?
So I'm the youngest one in my family. I'm not treated like the youngest because my older brother has cerebral palsy and he's deaf. 2 of my brothers are from my mom (including the disabled one) and 1 is from my dad and my sister and I are from both. My oldest brother is 23 and he just graduated from Channel Islands, but he's a wimp and needs my mom's constant attention. My second brother is 22 and is disabled but isn't THAT bad. She makes a huge fuss over him even though compared to the rest of his class he's the healthiest one. My third brother is also 22 and he flunked out of college and sits in front of the T.V. and computer all day. Both of my brothers have a credit card under my parent's names so spend all the money they want. My sister is 16 and is pretty nice. She's a good sister compared to a lot of sisters, but is a real pest. She can push anyone's buttons. Slowly she's revolving into my brother and becoming more into a jerk everyday.
I'm 12 and a straight A student. I'm the only one who follows the rules. The rule is no T.V. or computer before 8 and everyone breaks the rule but me and they always get away with it. My mom says that they're too old to be disciplined, but I feel that if they're gonna live under the same roof, we should be treated as equals. My mom has become so stressed that I can't even ask her what's for dinner without her going insane. She screams, yells, and hits me a lot. She forgets to feed me sometimes because she's too caught up with whatever my brothers want.
My dad babys my brother. He got a phone for flunking, a computer for under aged drinking, unlimited texting for going $283 over his texting limit, and a car for getting a speeding ticket. My dad pays little or no attention to me. He's caught up with football 24/7. I can't have a phone because everyone hogs up the phone plan. Instead I have a Tracphone that runs out of time before I can use all my minutes. My mom, dad, and brothers have the Droid 2 and my sister has a Cosmos and all of them have unlimited talk and text.
My siblings all think I'm spoiled and I've never gotten disciplined for anything.
I play french horn, violin, and piano, I'm really smart, all my teachers love me, and my mom says the reason I don't get what my siblings get because I have a attitude no matter how many people tell her I don't.
I think my family is so unfair and I hate it. Please help me!
moreResolved Question: Just got my report card?
I received my report card the other day, and I agree that I deserved the grades I got, except for one class, french. I got a 79 in that class. My french teachers teaching methods are very unorthodox, he doesn't give homework nor does he give any tests. The only thing he wants the class to do is come in extra early in the morning for extra help, for him it's mandatory. I've gone but only one time.
I usually don't compare myself to other students, but I asked one girl who never goes to extra help in the morning what she got for french. She got an 82. She doesn't write notes in class, and is constantly talking. To be quite honest, I'm one of the few people in that class that consistently writes down notes and goes to extra help.
The one time he actually gave a test, I missed it, and I asked him if I could take a make up exam, but he said he was too busy and told me that I was alright anyway (clearly I wasn't.) I feel like I've been deceived, he was just too lazy and couldn't find time to give me a make up test. Another thing that probably contributed to my grade was the fact that I didn't call people to remind them about extra help in the morning. What he did was, he gave me and another girl the numbers of all the kids in our class, after everyone wrote their number down on a piece of paper. Our job was to text them or call them the night before extra help. Extra help is always on Tuesday mornings. He reminded us all the time, and even had the principle announce it over the loud speaker every Monday morning. For starters I didn't even agree to do it for him, 2nd I don't like being held responsible for other people, I'm no body's parent. I just worry about myself. And third my extra phone call won't make a difference, no one wants to show up anyway. I told him I lost the phone number ( In fact I threw them away,) so he told me that he would deduct a credit from my grade, which I think is unfair. This incident doesn't pertain to class, it's more of a personal issue. I don't care if he doesn't trust me anymore, but he doesn't have the right to penalize me for not doing him a favor. He basically wants me to do his job.
My question is how do I approach this problem (if you guys think there is one.) I feel like I should consult my guidance counselor about it first, either my guidance counselor or the french teacher first. I'm very shocked and so is my mom, I study french religiously, and I don't deserve this grade. How can I come to some sort of compromise with my french teacher? Recently it's come to my attention that teachers can change quarterly grades, since my U.S teacher made a deal that if we all get perfect scores on our A. P exams that she would change our quarterly grades to a 100. I feel like I should propose this same deal with my french teacher, that if I get a perfect on my French A.P exam, he'd change my quarterly grades, but I feel like that would be going to far. So please all comments are welcomed.

1. I need to read an article regarding selling lesson plans online as a school teacher. Then I need to fine one pro to it. Here is my sentence. Does it make sense to you? Please let me know better way to put my thought in English.
Pro-The extra money from selling lesson plans by teachers helps the teachers’ mortgage payments, credit card bills, vacation travel and even home renovation.
2. Now, I need to explain what I think about teachers are selling their lesson plan online. Here is the paragraph.
"I think that teachers should sell their lesson plans freely without feeling guilty. I also agree with Ms. Bohrer that it is nothing wrong for teachers to get some credits from selling their own lesson plans because there are their efforts in them. When it comes to working in the school system, as people well known, teachers do not get paid enough comparing to their hard working. They even need to work after school to grade their students’ homework, and preparing the lessons for the following day. Therefore, selling one’s lesson plans is the best way to extend the teacher’s extra income. Also at the same time, the teacher’s hard working gets count. I believe that selling lessons online is the smart way to help a teacher’s financial problems and boost their hard working valuable."

I do not understand the parts that I made (((....))).
1. While some of this extra money is going to buy books and classroom supplies in a time of tight budgets, the new teacher-entrepreneurs are also spending it on dinners out, mortgage payments, credit card bills, vacation travel and even home renovation, leading some school officials to raise questions over who owns material developed for public school classrooms.
(((“To the extent that school district resources are used, then I think it’s fair to ask whether the district should share in the proceeds")))
2. I don't understand 'she spoke on the condition that she not be named.'
(((A high school English teacher in upstate New York said her bosses barred her from selling plans used in her classroom; she spoke on the condition that she not be named.)))
3. I don't understand the whole sentence.
"The online selling cheapens what teachers do and undermines efforts to build sites where educators freely exchange ideas and lesson plans."
4. I do no understand the part that I made (((...))).
“Teachers swapping ideas with one another, that’s a great thing,” he said. “But somebody asking 75 cents for a word puzzle reduces (((the power of the learning community and is ultimately destructive to the profession.” )))
5. I do no understand the part that I made (((...))).
Others find comfort in having a class-tested lesson by a more experienced teacher. Lauren Perreca, 24, used a $10 lesson on the Vietnam War novel “Fallen Angels” as a reference last year while creating her own lesson for her classes at Weston High School in Connecticut. She also revised her reading questions about “Lord of the Flies” after comparing them with two other lesson plans.
“At first I was self-conscious I had bought something, because what did that say about me?” she said. (((“But I realized I wasn’t just taking it and using it, I was adapting it to fill in the gaps of my knowledge.”)))
6. I didn't understnad the parts that I made (((...))).
In Ms. Bohrer’s class the other day in Lindenhurst, N.Y., five children were counting M&Ms while she made sure they digested the lesson before the candy. The exercise, which comes with directions, sorting mats and work sheets, (((has sold 31 times for $3 a pop. A variation with Lucky Charms is popular around St. Patrick’s Day, she said. )))
7. I do not understand the parts that I made (((...))).
Now Ms. Perreca has started selling her own lesson plans, like a 54-page “Macbeth” unit with quizzes and homework assignments ($10) that she wrote in graduate school. She said she spent ((($140 of her $523 in earnings on cookies and books for her students,))) and used the rest to splurge on dinners out that she could not (((otherwise afford.)))
moreResolved Question: I Got A $210 boot on my car at the store!!!!!!PLEASE HELP! ADVISE PLEASE!?
Today, I went to a bus station to puchase a bus ticket at Greyhound. I had never been over there and the area has a LOT of drugs, prostitutes, and THUGS.
The parking lot at the station appears to be part of the parking lot for the bus station, but it is actually a paking lot belonging to a private lot such as LAZ(at night you really couldn't tell). Any way, I saw this indication before going in to the station and had no cash. There was no where else to safely park other than the lot. The area is REALLY sketchy and it has raining heavily. I went in to get cash out of ATM. This took no longer than 10 minutes at the most until the time that I returned to pay when a guy says" YOUR CAR IS ALREADY BOOTED"? I'M like WTF???
Basically, this guy is sitting in an unmarked car and is bootinng like 5 cars every 15 minutes. This is CRAZY! I bought a $100 bus ticket also and he put a boot on my car demanding $75. I told him I didn't have it and if he could PLEASE not do this. He didn't want to hear it and said my car would be towed.
So I said I can pay with my credit card. He said he didn't take discover, which is all I had to use. So I went into the trunk and got my GreenDot card which is a VISA. He attempted to run that card but said that it wasn't reading. He said either get the money or ill have your car towed. So I realized I had my mastercard. I told him this. I said I have a MC too but I'd rather use it ONLY if the VISA doesn't go through again but to let me know. So instead of running the VISA he ran the MC, WITHOUT telling me or without attempting to run the VISA again. He gave me the recepit and said "here you go" I was like wait, why did you run that card???!! He IGNORED me and just walked to remove the boot. I kept asking why he did that but he said nothing. This is a big black guy and i'm small compared to him. Shaken up, I just went home.
How is ths legal?? For him to boot my car while going to get money to pay for parking, which I explained.
ALSO this guy was in an unmarked car and had NO UNIFORM.
The guy PURPOSELY ran the MC after I asked him not too..
He FAILED to identify himself. (No name, uniform, nothing on car indicating the right to do this)
Guy was putting boots on multiple cars at least 5 in 15 minutes.
AND I was goven two receipts, one white receipt from where the tranaction went through, and another where he wrote my tag info, BUT on this yellow slip, I DIDN'T SIGN!!!Therefore I didn't AUTHORIZe the transaction. PLUS on this slip, he wrote VISA, but charged my MC.,,
I wanna call the police. Ughh, IDK what to do or if I even have a case. CAN ANYONE PLEASE ADVISE ME. THANKS.
I am SO UPSET. Iwent in to withdraw funds to pay, THIS guy is SCAMMING people. putting boots on cars in seconds after parking that's WRONG!
I CLEARLY came back out with money for parking and was booted and the guy wouldn't answer any of my questions.
ALSO, SHOULD I DISPUTE THIS CHARGE WITH BANK AS FRAUDULENT ONCE IT POSTS????? again, I NEVER signed the authorization slip and he wrote PAID WITH VISA when it was MC-neglicgence on his part.YES I got his plate numberIt was a slide thingy you'd see at checkout line but handheld.I am calling company in the morning to make sure he's legit and also to complain if he;s not legit, IM CALLING 5-0TO THE ONE THAT CALLED ME 'INSANE'****I GOT THE TICKET THE BEST WAY I COULD YOU RACIST ASS!!!! ONLINE WASN'T WORKING! SOME PEOPLE DON'T JUST SIT AROUND ON THEIR LARD ASSES ALL DAY ON A DELL PC OKAY?!!!!

moreResolved Question: Savings Question and Advice Needed.?
So I'm a college kid trying to save up for later expenses such as house, car, whatever. Just some money that will help me out later when I might really need it. I currently have a Chase checking and savings account which gives me shit interest. I'm getting like 9 cents a month and I think it's like .01% or something ridiculously little. I don't have much in my checking, that's just where I get my paycheck deposited and I have a Capital One credit card which deducts from the checking. I have a decent amount of money in my savings but it just seems to be going to waste with the little interest rate. I was looking at Amex has online savings accounts that pay like 1% interest. Why is there's so high compared to Chase? Would it be smart to open a savings account online with Amex so I can get the highest rate? And if I did that should I keep my Chase stuff so I can just wire money to amex instead of sending them checks?
I'm really new at all this stuff and basically have been throwing my money into a account at chase. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
moreResolved Question: Why did this Christian get mad when I said this?
He was comparing Christianity to a endless credit card, and you are just keeping it yourself and that people need to share it ect.....
So he asked what I would do with it, "If I just went around helping billions of people, that would ruin the economy, the value of money would go down, people would stop working, and everything would be f*cked up". Then he got pissed.
I simply answered his question.Yeah, everyone would stop working, people would stop doing their jobs, so no more food... Because if you had all the money, why would a farmer keep farming and sell it to others? Why would any one work. We die.
moreResolved Question: What am i? Middle Class? Upper Middle Class?
Ok so just wondering where i fall in the scope of things, so here is a little about my family. My mother is a Nurse Practitioner making about $80,000 - $100,000 a year depending on if she teaches any college courses. We live a nice (i guess) lifestyle decent vacation ever year (Mexico, Missouri Ozarks, Chicago, Hilton Head etc...) Me and my brother both attend private school. We live in $220,000 ish house in the Midwest. We enjoy going out to dinner and shopping (J.Jill, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Abercrombie, CJ Banks, Macys etc...) My mom drives an 2007 suv, and i just turned 16 and she bought me an honda accord. My mom works hard, house is almost payed off, and i know she has some credit card debt (not much, almost payed off)
So what do you think where do i fall? What do you think of my lifestyle. I live in an OK area nothing nice. but we do prefer going out to nicer part of town rather than the lesser part that is closer to where we live. How do i compare?
Most people around us are about the same, so my perception might be a little off. Let me know!
moreResolved Question: Economics and Personal Finance: account balance?
When Keshawn turned 16, his parents agreed that he could get a checking account with a debit card from the local credit union. The first few months, he was very careful. He used his debit card to buys things only if he knew he had enough money in his account. When he needed cash, he always used the ATM at the credit union branch where he opened the account. Every month he compared his withdrawals and deposits to his bank statement to make sure they matched.
One day, Keshawn used an ATM at an arcade to get money for the games and concessions. A few days later, he used the ATM at the mall to withdraw money for a vending machine.
When he received his bank statement, the account did not balance. The bank said he had less money than he though. All of the purchases, deposits, and withdrawals were the same. Keshawn checked his math and it was correct. He didn’t know what was wrong.
Answer the questions please:
Why do you think Keshawn’s account didn’t balance?
Did he make the best decisions?
What should he do to fix the problem?
