Canon PowerShot G1 X review posted!

Resolved Question: What camera should i buy?
I have been looking into the cameras -Canon PowerShot SX230HS or Canon - PowerShot SX260.
I want to buy the best one I’m just having trouble comparing them. I’m willing to take other camera suggestions I just want to stay in the 300 dollar price range. I want a new camera because my last is now broken and had terrible image quality. I want crisp great looking pictures. Thanks
moreResolved Question: I need help choosing a compact ultrazoom camera?
I'm currently looking for a camera with high optical zoom capabilities and superb image qualities. I've looked around for weeks now and I'm really tired of not being able to choose one. The couple of ones I've considered buying got bad reviews online. I actually started out looking for a good 10x zoom (like the CyberShot DSC-WX150 and the Coolpix S6300 but now I've decided to go a bit further).
Currently these are my choices:
Nikon Coolpix S9300 - I almost bought this one until I read the reviews. The image quality is not highly spoken of. The reviews for this camera don't really praise it or anything and in fact point out its flaws and incompetencies and how it doesn't deliver anything outstanding. The S8200 or S9100 might actually be a better fit than this (according to others) and it has some serious competitors which I'm listing below.
Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V - Before the Nikon I actually nearly decided to buy this until I read the reviews online. People were comparing it with the HX9V and how it was actually better than this newer model. Some say that its image quality has actually degraded due to the high MP count. I heard that getting the older HX9V (from the few remaining) is actually better.
PowerShot SX260 HS - many are recommending this as a solid choice instead of the others. The reviews for this camera seem to be better than the other 3 cameras which I've listed. It supposedly has the best image quality out of all my choices. However, this doesn't really look as good as the other 2 though (appearance wise).
Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 - Another camera with quite a good feature set which I discovered. Like the Canon though, it's not that good looking as the Sony or Nikon.
I'm really torn deciding between all these models. Are there any more suggestions which I have missed (and you recommend)? I must have missed a few especially from other brands. Can you guys please help me choose a model. Thanks for reading!

moreResolved Question: Canon Powershot S100 or Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9v? Help!?
I require a camera for traveling later this year but cannot decide between:
the Canon Powershot S100
or
the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9v
I gather from reviews that the Canon takes much better still photos but the Sony has much better video quality which is also a priority.
The Sony has 16X optical zoom which will come in handy for traveling, compared to 5X in the Canon.
The Sony is also cheaper, larger and has a longer lasting battery.
So hard to decide!

Which Camera is better? Canon Powershot S100 or Sony Cybershot HX9?
I'm looking to replace my old Casio Exilim S-12 that recently broke. I've had this camera for about 2.5years so I think its time for a major upgrade. I'm a noob when it comes to camera specs. But, why would the CanonS100 be better than the Cybershot when the Cybershot has a 16X zoom quality compared to the 5x on the canon. On top of which, the canon has the same amount of megapixels as my old camera from 2.5 years ago. Please give me specific details on why which is better it'd be much appreciated. :)
Also, I'm looking between these two and want a camera that has really good photo quality at night. I'm not sure which is best at lowlight but it'd be great to have. And A MAJOR importance is video quality. I go to alot of Concerts with heavy/fast bass (trance & house music) and wonder if these cameras can handle the loud noise/bass. My old one was able to so I'm just curious if you guys know or have any experience regarding their video quality, please let me know =]
That is all! if there is any more information you'd wish to provide its GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

moreResolved Question: Why do my pictures have so much noise?
Hello. =)
I have a Canon Powershot sx30 is, and I can never get a good picture. I am a complete beginner when it comes to photography and using anything other than cheap little digital cameras that do everything automatically.
Here are some examples.
I can't remember the exact settings for these two pictures, but I can tell you that I had my camera set on Aperture Priority, and I didn't touch the ISO at all.

http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n518/RobynGraves/IMG_1055.jpg
I figured this happened because we were in a dimly lit garage, but they often come this way in broad daylight such as with the bird pictures.

http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n518/RobynGraves/IMG_2190.jpg
This is where it really bothers me the most. I sell things on Etsy, but my pictures always look so terrible compared to everyone else's! I'm surprised I manage to sell anything at all.
http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n518/RobynGraves/IMG_1393.jpg
I thought it may have been to dark in my room, so I moved to another and opened all the windows. The room was filled with natural light (I added the vignette later). But, it came out just as bad as in my room.
http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n518/RobynGraves/IMG_1393.jpg
Does anyone have the slightest clue at what I could be doing wrong? Is this even noise or some other problem? I've tried all sorts of settings and it never seems to get any better. I got this camera about a year ago and haven't got much use out of it because of this. I can't take a class at school quite yet.
I'm sorry I couldn't provide much information, but if you have questions I will do my best to answer.
Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks.
moreResolved Question: Canon Powershot SX40 HS vs Nikon Coolpix P510?
I'm a complete newbie when it comes to photography, my family and I just want a camera that will take amazing photos at the beach, during sunset etc. None of us really know how to take photos. Which one of these cameras will give us a better quality photo? My friend has a Rebel t3i and my mom was considering that one, however, it is quite pricey and we're still not too sure what the difference is between a DSLR and one of the cameras I mentioned above. Could somebody give me some pointers? Also, I noticed with my friends Canon Powershot XS30 that I looked better in the pictures compared to my normal compact digital camera.. Could somebody explain why?

moreVoting Question: Canon Powershot SD 980 or a Canon Powershot S95?
I know the S95 is newer, but I was wondering which one is better.
I had a SD 890 before this, and I heard that 980 is a newer version of the 890, which I really liked.\
I'm just getting a camera for everyday use, so I really don't need any too fancy functions.
I've compared the two online, and it seems like they both have their pros and cons. Which one should I get? Why? and does the S95 only come in the color black? Is the 980 similar to 890?
Thank you! Please answer all parts of this question!

hey guys i want to buy a digital camera that unlike sony or kodak, will last long and take great pics to upload on facebook, the web, print, ect. i am looking at the Nikon coolpix s41000 camera vs. Canon powershot sd3000 IS. I LOVE the nikons smile catcher mode and the canon vivid color mode. i know they are both around the same price range so thats not a biggie. if u have any info on which one is a better camera please let me know.... also if you have any web sites you know of with good deals on cameras and good info on how to chose a camera then let me know too. i have looked on youtube and seem a few reviews for both camersa but nothing that really is comparing them both. i have heard that Nikon supposibly makes better cameras but that the coolpix series are considered dantiy and arnt as sturdy or dont take as good of pics as the Canon powershot. once again i am looking at the Nikon coopix s41000 vs. Canon powershot sd3000 is. tell me what you guys think :)

moreVoting Question: Cannon 310 vs 500/510 HS?
I posted a question the other day about which camera to get and I chose to go with the Cannon ELPH. I just returned from BestBuy and i got to test out the 300 ELPH and I loved it, however I was going to kick in a little more and go with a better model. The problem is, I just dont know which to go with.
Theres the 310, 500 and 510. Strangely enough the 500 is cheaper than the 310, not sure if that means it's necessarily better or not.
Here's the link to the 3
1. Cannon 310 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-310-HS-Wide-Angle-Silver/dp/B005II5OLY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321041223&sr=1-1
2. Cannon 500 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-ELPH-500-HS/dp/B004J3VAYO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
3. Cannon 510 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Camera-Video/dp/B005I6DUKS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321041208&sr=1-1
Could anyone who knows a little about digital cameras tell me which one would be worth it? I would prefer not to spend the 300 dollar price tag of the 510 HS unless you really think its a huge improvement. I'm mainly going to be doing point and shoot but I do like the higher zoom of those models compared to the 5x zoom of the 300. Thank you very much in advance!

What are the Pros and Cons of each of these cameras?
Please give an unbiased opinion on each camera after reading the features and specifics of each unit through the links I provided.Yeah, I asked for an unbiased opinion and I keep getting the typical response from the "Professionals". Yes, I understand that GE is not a "Camera Company". This doesn't mean they can't make a good camera or not. Please only respond if you are able to point out pros and con of THE CAMERAS AND NOT THE COMPANIES.

moreResolved Question: Replacement for Canon Elph SD1200 IS?
The Canon Elph SD1200 IS bit the dust care of my wheel chair spokes. An extended warranty from Bestbuy (ugh) is netting me $149. They're offering me the Canon Powershot Elph 100 HS for the $149.
I like Canon, have been using Canon for ages. But am too overloaded with grad school to properly compare my options. If you were to buy one of the following, which would you select:
Canon Powershot A2200 - I know... Not this one...
Canon Powershot A3300 - decent functionality but per Canon,
it's an "A" series...
Canon Powershot Elph 100 HS.
Canon
Or I can spring up for the Elph 300 HS.
Which way would you go?
Canon says to look at the SD4500IS but the reviews are iffy especially the battery life.
OR if you don't like the above, advice in the $149 - $200 range. Functionality of the above, good zoom, battery life, HD video would be nice, wide angle, smart and flexible flash, flexible ISO settings.

I have a hobby of taking pictures, especially of my car. I am looking to buy a new camera since mine is kind of outdated :/ I've looked at Best Buy and they have so many cameras, it's hard to compare them all. I am looking to spend no more than $300. I want a camera that can take HD pictures and record 1080p video. I heard the Canon PowerShot Elph 300 HS is a pretty good camera, but I also seen this Sony camera (forgot which one). The Canon one cost $200, which is ok for me, but I'm wondering if there are any other good cameras I can get for around that price or lower.I have had 2 previous digital cameras and they were both Nikon so I'm looking to try another brand such as Sony or Canon or Pioneer.

moreResolved Question: Comparing my Canon SX200 IS to a Canon EOS Rebel T3?
I have a Canon Powershot SX200 IS. It has 12x optical zoom and 12.1 mega pixels. I love it but the lens is broken and the camera isn't unusable but I constantly have to have in on the widescreen setting because the lens won't open all the way and it's a huge annoyance.
So I wanted to invest in a Canon EOS Rebel T3 DSLR, but it has 12.2 mega pixels and obviously the zoom would depend on the lens, but it comes with an 18-55mm IS lens kit so whatever that would be..
Now I don't want to invest in this camera if it's going to give me the same results as the one I have now.. so the quality of the Rebel T3 would be better than my SX200 IS, right?lol okay professional people calm down. I actually do love photography and wanted to get in to it, I came here to make sure that if I fooled around with the settings I'd get better results. If I wanted a camera just to take random pictures I would have bought a cheap one. The one I have now was almost $500, and had a great run but it's not working as well anymore and I want to go further with photography. I almost never use auto-mode, but I wanted a camera that could give me more results than the one I have now. I'm not going to confuse my self with all the technical stuff they put on websites that I don't understand yet. I just wanted some help. But thank you all for your help, especially the ones who were nice about it. I am seriously considering a Canon EOS Rebel T3.

Alright so I want a walk around lens, the three above are my options, I keep getting the response of canon but no reason to why. I saw a review of the tamron VC version of the lens compared to the other two I listed and the tamron had better image quality. My cousin who was deciding between the Tamron 17-50 and 17-50 VC said the image quality is better on the non-VC. I personally would choose canon just because I go by overall quality which I know I can rely on.

I've fairly recently bought one of canon's consumer-end dslrs, but obviously I can't carry it everywhere. I have a canon powershot sd1200 right now (it just doesn't seem as good anymore compared to my t2i!) and was going to sell it and replace it with the sd1400, which has 4 extra MP and some extra features...then I looked into the 1200 to see what it was selling for used. New, it's going for $250-$300, and the 1400 new is $200! I thought it was an upgrade! Anyways, is it possibly because the 1200 was such a successful/sturdy model? Is it worth replacing with the 1400? If anyone has used both, the most important feature to me is quality of flash and no flash pictures. I'm not a big fan of flash so if I have to use it I'd like for the pictures to turn out well if i have to use flash and especially when I don't.
I'm aware of all the differences in features, it's just the price difference that concerns me.
Any help/opinions are appreciated! Thanks :)
moreResolved Question: Can we tell the difference between 6MP & 10MP photo's? Is this a lot of MARKETING hype? (PLEASE READ -10 PNTS)?
For example, I have a Powershot S3 IS Digital camera, this is a VERY good camera & takes fantastic photographs, I was really surprised when looking on the box that it's only 6.0 MP
However theirs webcams out there for example the Logitech C510 & C910 that are 8MP & 10MP which is basically saying that say if you used these for self photography for example, you'd get better (or about as good with it being a webcam) photo quality as you would with an expensive camera such as the Canon Powershot S3 IS.
So really this whole MP thing thats out there, although I imagine it's good in regards to print out's (specially if the photo is enlarged) but if a Canon Powershot is only 6MP & a Logitech Webcam is 8 or 10 MP, you're not even going to really see the difference are you, say when the photo's are on a computer (I imagine maybe print out's possibly but even then from 6MP on a digital camera to 8 or 10MP on a webcam, the webcam on 6 or 8 mp must be just about as good as the digital camera is on 6mp)
I know theirs going to be people that may say "Oh webcams are crap blah blah" (which they are compared to expensive digital camera) but if we're honest, is their really that much difference say when it comes to taking a photo with a webcam at 8MP for example as opposed to using a digital camera on 6MP through a computer).
Thoughts please & ten points for best answer. Thanks for that BUT could you get a good enough self portrait shot with a webcam of 8MP as you could with a digital camera of only 6MP?

moreResolved Question: Canon Powershot question relating to blurry images?
I have a canon powershot sx130 IS and I absolutely LOVE THIS CAMERA!! However, I've noticed that whenever I take photos indoors (and outdoors) without my flash on, the images turn out blurry. I'm 17 years old and my hands don't shake and I STILL can't manage to get a nonblurry shot. I note that it takes quite a while for the camera to process after I've pressed down the button to take a photo (compared to a powershot sd750 where the shutter speed? is very quick). Anyways, what can I do? is there anything I can even do to speed up the time it takes to take a photo? or is this a problem dealing with other settings I should be adjusting?
My apologies if this was confusing.
Thank you !

--Between $200-$300 (absolutely not over $300)
--Compact, I like slim designs
--Touch screen is nice, but not absolutely the most important thing
--High quality pictures and HD videos (especially in low light)
--As much optical zoom as possible
I had been looking at the Powershot Elph 300 HS, but I saw that the Powershot Elph 500 HS just came out. I like the 500 because it has a touchscreen, but I don't like how it looks as much as the 300. I'm also wondering if the only reason the 500 is more expensive is the touchscreen, or if it has anyother advantages over the 300. (Can you help me compare them? I'm having trouble finding all the details.)
I had also been looking at the Canon SD 3500IS last year, I think this one is out of date this year, but I was wondering if they had a new equivalent. Is there another camera I ought to consider?
Please don't suggest brands other than Canon unless you can really back up your reasons and compare the cameras. I like Canon because they're good cameras and I'm used to them, so I know how they work.
Thanks!
moreResolved Question: Which digital SLR camera to buy?
Ok so I know nothing about these expensive digital SLR cameras.(Dont be mean please) Im going to be taking an Intro to Photography class and the syllabus hasnt been given out yet. Im not too worried about the syllabus because I want to purchase one regardless of the class. I just want a camera that takes really good quality pictures that costs under $400. And I know some of you will be thinking, there's no need for an SLR camera if I just want better quality photographs. I have the regular digital camera everyone has (I've got the canon PowerShot SD750) , good for just taking pictures in general but I want a major upgrade. Like for example, if you capture a sunset with a regular digital camera, it wouldn't turn out as well it would with an SLR camera...right? of course it also depends on the person taking the picture too...
What exactly is different about the SLR cameras compared to the regular digital cameras?
moreResolved Question: Which camera is better?
I'm thinking about buying a camera, & I'm wondering which one I should buy. I'm stuck between the Sony Cyber-shot H55 & the Canon PowerShot SD1400-IS. I was reading some of the reviews for the Cyber-shot & many complained about the sharpness of the picture & that they often appeared grainy. Also, if you want, can you send me a link to a picture taken with either one so I can compare? Thanks!
moreResolved Question: Comparing two cameras..Help please!?
I just bought the Canon Powershot SD1300 yesterday. I opened it up and to be honest, the camera didn't feel well-made. I previously had a Nikon Coolpix and I liked how the outside shell was very durable and metal-like. The Canon feels like plastic or something. Also, I was not impressed with the video it produces.
I am thinking about taking it back and exchanging it for the Canon Powershot SD1400IS instead. What are the main differences between the two? Is this a large step-up from the 1300?
Thanks!
moreResolved Question: Canon PowerShot G12... good camera?
Hi, I'm looking to buy a small bur professional camera that takes really nice quality photos.
I was thinking about getting the Canon PowerShot G12... so do you know if it has nice image quality? That's all I really care about, good quality images that look as if they are real life. Does the G12 have this?
Also,, how does the image quality of the G12 compare to that of the Canon Rebel T3i? I am considering them both. I mean obviously the t3i will have better image quality, but is the difference significance? Does the G12 still compare to the Rebel t3i in terms of image quality?
moreResolved Question: What's a good affordable pocket digital camera?
I was thinking GE DV1 pocket camcorder, but I realized GE isn't such a good brand when it comes to cameras. So yea, I want a good affordable digital camera... possibly under $200... A pocket camera if possible, coz I want to be able to carry it around easier compared to my old Canon PowerShot A460 (which got old and I've gotten tired of having it fixed after the 5th time, i realized i was spending too much just for maintenance)
Anyway, yea.
moreResolved Question: Canon Powershot G12 or Nikon Coolpix P100?
One of the main things I'm considering is the CCD versus CMOS sensor. Is a CMOS censor significantly better? http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_PowerShot_G12-vs-Nikon_Coolpix_P100I've also checked out the Nikon Coolpix P7000, which is VERY similar to the Canon. However, it seems like the image quality and color depth is not as good. (I'd prefer good images over a higher resolution screen or a larger screen, makes sense right?) http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_PowerShot_G12-vs-Nikon_Coolpix_P7000
moreResolved Question: Which camera should I get? I've never bought a "good" camera before.Which will take the best pictures?
My budget is around $250.00. I've picked out these below and think they're good but I can't make up my mind. The panasonic seems the best to me when I go on http://www.imaging-resource.com to compare them. Anyone have experience who can help me? Tyvm!
Kodak EasyShare Z981 14MP Digital Camera
Canon PowerShot SD3500
Canon PowerShot SX210
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ40
Samsung TL240
moreVoting Question: Which camera should I get?
I'm looking to get a good camera for myself because I'm interested in photography. I don't want a DSLR camera because they are expensive, the only one I would possibly get would be the Sony Alpha A230L but that doesn't have video and you have to look through the lens not on the screen. I want to get either the Nikon COOLPIX L110 or the Canon PowerShot SX130-IS. Which one would you get? Why? I'm looking up reviews right now but I want opinions comparing the two. Also, I want a camera with good image quality and video quality of course :) Oh, and I don't care about how big or bulky the camera is. I like both of these cameras cause they look "professional".
moreResolved Question: I need to decide between the Canon Powershot SX210 IS and the Nikon CoolPix S8100.?
Here goes. I have done the research, the reading, etc. I am looking for input from people who have actually used these cameras.
Things I am looking for:
Speed of taking photos
Manual focus
Manual shutter
Manual aperture
Low light quality
I understand the differences between the two cameras, the hardware, the software, all of it. So, what I would like to know is, of people who have used one or both of these cameras, please let me know what you thought was better in terms of the above. I am leaning towards the Canon, but I want to know its low light quality compared to the Nikon.
Thanks
moreResolved Question: What is a camera that is similar to the Canon PowerShot SD960 IS?
So I found this camera, and its a great camera, but it has been discontinued :/
And I really like all of the qualitys of the camera, the HD recording, the camera quality, everything.
So if you could, just tell me what kind of camera you think it compares great with :)
Thanks!

please help me compare these cameras to decide which i should buy, other than how much they cost.

moreVoting Question: Which camera is better, overall?
I'm 14 and getting a new camera, and I'm not sure which one I should buy. I've compared them and looked at all their features, and they both seem great. But I don't know which one to get! I have some experience with photography and cameras. I've had 2 cameras, a Kodak EasyShare (which I've had since I was 7 or 8) and a Nikon Coolpix point and shoot that I've had for 2 years. I considered getting a DSLR, but it might be a bit too complicated and expensive for me. I guess I need a camera that will kind of be a 'stepping stone' towards one. So, which camera, in your opinion, do you think would be the better buy?

moreResolved Question: Are point and click cameras distorting compared to DSLRs?
I own a Canon Powershot point and click camera that I take all my photos with. Yesterday, I had to take before and after pictures concerning a surgery and I noticed my face looked different from the doctor's DSLR Nikon camera. Compared to the Canon, my face looked longer and my nose looked smaller and shorter. Do you find point and clicks portray people closer to real life or are DSLRs more accurate?
moreResolved Question: help me choose between two cameras please! Canon Powershot SX210 IS or Canon Ixus 1000 HS?
Hiya... I'm hoping some photography experts will help me out with this (and soon before tax rises and prices go up).
Both cameras are very similar and i have gone on the canon website and compared both cameras http://www.canon-europe.com/products_solutions/productselector/productselector.aspx#cat=1&subcat=2
so i am actually hoping for some advice about the technical (image sensors) and wide lens or whatever!! I know 14mp is supposed to be better than 10mp in theory but unlike most photography reviews that have nature shots - i want to take most of my photos at night (clubbing, socialising and concerts) and actually want to take a lot of video and photos zoomed in but in low light (concerts). I've been told that a higher mp might make it more 'noisy' close up., but on the other hand, one of the cameras have a 10x zoom the other 14x. But if the 14x zoom is shaky and noisy at the max zoom and i am forced to zoom back a bit then it makes the 14x irrelevant doesnt it???
PLEASE will someone help me with this. One of the cameras is so new i'm finding it hard to get decent reviews from consumers on it or test shots. Does anyone have any pictures of 10x zoom and 14x zoom so i can see if its really that much better zoomed in 14x??
Any decent and educated advice would be fantastic. Thank you a million. I have been researching them both for a week now and am stuck on these 2 unless u can find me a better pink or purple one than these. yes, i know, say it - if i could drop my colour preference i cud get a better camera, i know. But please help me choose between these two! Thanks :)Sorry thought i'd also ask whether one being 'full hd' and the other being 'hd' would really matter and whether the one being full hd but with lower mp will be on par with the one being just normal hd but higher mp.One thing i did notice was the difference in 'built in flash range' - which one is better? you can directly compare the two side-by-side on the link to the canon website - thank you!
