Open Question: Is this a good beginning?

Jace cast a bored glance around the hall, leaning lazily back in his chair. Even the Shutterbugs swarming in front of the stage had lowered their cameras and microphones, the incessant whirring and clicking that had been focused on the lone boy fading to nothing. Chatter bounced off the mahogany panelled walls, guests milling about on the balconies and sipping from their champagne flutes. They often peered over the intricately carved railings at the stage below, pitying the boy who sat isolated on the glaringly lit stage. In front, Jace’s soldiers sat rigidly in their cushioned seats, eyes shaded by their glossy helmets. They had been waiting for three hours for the ceremony to begin, but hadn’t shifted from their positions since they had filed into their chairs. Behind them was a sea of empty, velvet chairs and crimson carpeting. Pillars of dark marble lined the walls and cherry tapestries swung from each before finishing with a loop around the cold stone. The hall was a luxury compared to the dull basics that most of the city experienced, but those who had the privilege to be invited indulged in such extravagance every day anyway. Most households wouldn’t dream of owning such silky dresses in their closets; the women on the balconies donned in every colour of the rainbow and glittering with jewels that were allowed to so few. The only ones not dressed to impress were the guards who stood at the back of each balcony like a statue, their guns sleek in their holsters. 'This is a waste of time'. Jace thought, raking a hand through hazel coloured curls. The whole ceremony was on hold for that one person, but the hundred spectators and thousands eagerly glued to their televisions didn’t dare to grumble. It had amused Jace at first that no-one risked attracting the attention of the guards that silently protected them, but as the heat cranked up under his best suit the private smile had slipped from his face. Tilting his head back, he squinted as the lights glared in his ash tinted eyes; the flecks of gold in his irises glinting. Suddenly, the screech of tyres pierced through the hubbub. As one, heads jerked towards the door. Scurrying back to their assigned seats, there was an excited intake of breath as marching footsteps got louder and louder. Jace braced himself in his seat. The Shutterbugs aimed their cameras, flashes glittering in the darkness as the lights were dimmed. Fast paced music began to play, dramatic recording booming through the hall as everyone scrambled to their feet. It was the typical anthem that played in these events, the same instruments used every, single time. Jace stood sluggishly, stretching his legs and smoothing the wrinkles in his trousers. The doors crashed open. Tuxedoed bodyguards stormed through the doors, thick soled boots marching down the aisle. Approaching the podium, Jace shuddered as one turned to face him. Or at least he assumed that the milky white eyes were trained on him. Her bodyguards were dangerous, yet chosen specially for their disabilities. Most were either blind or deaf, but this wasn’t much of a hindrance to them. Jace had never seen one bodyguard alone, always working in a group as one person. Icy shivers shoot down his spine. The men parted. They bowed their heads as their President stepped lightly onto the stage, refusing the hand proffered from her guards and head held proud. Jace stretched his aching legs, smoothing the wrinkles from his suit. Phoenix approached the podium, the sea green fold of her dress cascading to the floor and rippling like a wave. Nothing in the room glittered as bright as the diamonds peppering her fair curls like stars, her simple self a pure embodiment of the insane opulence that the select nobility in the city indulged in. Jace felt the ravenous eyes drink in their leader. She was the perfect figurehead, but nothing could mask her youth. “Welcome, people of Crux.” Phoenix smiled into the microphone, slender hands gripping the altar. “As you know, we are a city to be proud of. Our homes are safe, our children are well and our families wholesome.” Her seventeen year old lips spat the last word with distaste and scepticism. No-one batted an eye, but many had heard the rumours that had been hissed from ear to ear. Her history was shadowed, her heritage a mystery. Any criticism or comments will be much appreciated! As a thirteen year old writer, I would like as many tips as possible. :-) more

Open Question: POLL : Was this bad..? What should I do?

Before all of the actual sh*t went down, me and the guy had sex behind the stairwell no one goes through.. We thought we got away with it. But, we was caught sexting.. It was at school.. On our phones.. And the text-catcher caught all the messages and the 2 principles read it all. Both of them called me and the other guy to the office and read it to us and gave us a lecture, THEN both of our PARENTS, [my new ones], had to come in and get told what's going on by US and WE had to read the messages we sent to each other, word for word, to all of them. Omg. Terrible. The messages were pretty detailed, too.. Then, they ended up finding out about the us having sex from one of the messages we'd sent.. She, the principle, then went to the cameras in the stairwell and they got to watch EVERYTHING of what happened.. They'd make such nasty facial expressions and whatnot.. I felt like dying. I can tell they'll never let this go and or forget about it. When we both got sent back to finish up 6th period, with our phones taken, the teacher came up to me and said "Don't you ever let someone man handle you. Sexting and sex is a very harmful thing. It could put you in danger. Don't EVER turn into what your mum was!".. The story behind the "don't ever turn into what your mum was"? My mum, who's dead, was a prostitute and she did a lot of drugs and whatnot.. I have a feeling all of the teachers are gonna act strange around me, now. :c Honestly, it might not sound that bad, but it was! The consequences at home and school are horrible.. I'm not aloud to talk to or be around the guy at school, or we'll both get in extremely big trouble. I'm not allowed to see him outside either.. Plus, our schedules got changed, so that we have no more classes together. That's not even considered bad, compared to the rest of the consequences. Pretty much, I dunno what to do. My parents are both giving me the "silent treatment", but at random times they'll just b*tch at me. My mum's the most hurt one, who knows why she's hurt. I've seen her cry today, a few times. Also, I've heard them talking sh*t about me. And OBVIOUSLY, they can't handle the fact that I'm bisexual.. Yes, me, a guy and another GUY were sexting!? Oh my god, it's the end of the god damn world. What should I do about all this!? Do you think that what we did was bad? \: I'm 17 and he's 19... PLUS, I already have a boyfriend..! And no, that wasn't him..... Is that bad? I haven't even told him? He's gonna be really pissed off since he hates that guy! >_< more

Resolved Question: Recovering anorexic, having some insecurity issues, please help?

I'm 18 years old, and I am currently receiving treatment for anorexia. Like many girls and women suffering from eating disorders, I am extremely insecure about my face and body- even though many people tell me that I'm beautiful. My problem right now is my boyfriend's ex girlfriend. Now, this has NOTHING to do with jealousy involving my boyfriend. She was with him for ten months, and after they had been broken up for about five months, we started dating and have now been together for over a year and are happily in love. I know that he wasn't happy when he was with her, and I don't doubt how much he loves me. My issue with this girl is that she is my complete opposite as far as looks go; she is 5' 8.5", blonde, very fair, clear skin, big blue eyes, perfect teeth. I am 5' 4", long black hair, light brown skin, brown eyes, my skin isn't terribly covered in acne. It's the average amount for a teenager, but it's been bothering me a lot more lately because of stress and insecurities. And as far as teeth go, mine are perfectly fine except my front right tooth is pushing forward, which I will need to fix eventually. To top it all off, she is a model. Not a big time model, but she's working herself up. She's had a few photoshoots, and the girl is stunning. I find myself obsessing over her pictures, facebook, and tumblr. I have tried so hard not to, but I can't help it. I don't know why, and I've gotten over the fact that I'm being a "creeper" because I know I'm not the only person in the world who does this. She is just so much prettier than I am. I've made bad lifestyle choices, and I feel like if I loved myself more and treated my body better, then I would look so much younger and healthier. The only problem that I have involving her and my boyfriend is that I feel like his standards have gone down by choosing to be with me. I know she is lovely, but he's told me that he thinks that I'm so much prettier, that she was too skinny, her hair was too thin, and she didn't make him happy. When I try to take pictures of myself with my nicest camera (I'm in photography school) I feel like everything about me looks wrong. But for her, she looks flawless. I can be very photogenic, but I feel like when I really need a picture to make me feel beautiful, it always makes me feel worse. I try not to punish myself because of this... I have come such a long way in recovery. But I cannot stop obsessing over this girl. I've tried staying off of her websites and obsessing over her. I haven't told my boyfriend this because it's just too strange. All I want is to know that I'm beautiful, and respect that she is too without losing my mind over it. I have nothing against her, and I'm happy for her that her dreams are coming true. But I can't shake the thought of her out of my mind. I'm tired of feeling bad about myself when I see a picture of her. I'm tired of comparing myself to her because I can't see how beautiful I really am. All I want is to let it all go and continue to learn how to heal and love myself for everything that I am. But it's so hard when she's always crowding my thoughts. What do I need to do? How can I get rid of these thoughts and feelings? more

My nanny watches my babies while I go to work. The problem is that when I'm at work they spend most of the morning around 2 hours or more asleep! while on weekends, they are so fussy and cannot sleep, not even for one minute, neither mornings nor evenings, I'm starting to think that the nanny is slipping some sleeping pills or sirops in their milk. This feeling is driving me crazy! I asked a doctor if I can test their blood, he replied that it's so hard to detect sleeping substances in the blood coz there are millions of sorts and lab specialists need some name or brand to compare to, otherwise they wouldn't know where to start from, is it true? I have nanny camera (she's aware of its presence), but any sleeping substance can be put in the bathroom, while hiding the bottle in her clothes, and I cannot put cameras in the bathroom! My questions: - Am i beeing so paranoic, or there are nannies out there who would actually be so cruel and put such substances for kids? - Is my doctor right? is it really unsetectable in blood tests? what if I test the milk? - How can I relax and enjoy my life with my children, knwoing that the nanny seems nice, but I am blocked to her because of my fear for my babies. The reason for me to apply for this job is to understand what is really means to be an 'Assistant Photographer'. I have read online and asked some people, but the answers vary from people ages 14 with almost no experience at all to people aged 50! Here is my experience as a photographer. One year in Photoshop and Photography Courses. Two years since I started shooting with a DSLR. Half a year in Photomatix. I have also joined a Club for Filming and I'm the main cameraman there I use a Nikon D3100 and two lenses, and I'm an addict in cameras and photography. Every where I go, I always take my camera with me. I just love cameras! I guess it runs in the family, my uncle and my cousin are very good in the photography field. I understand that I have very little experience compared to other applicants, but I can assure you, with my enthusiasm for cameras and photography, I'm up for the job. I am currently planning my dissertation for next year and need to hand in a proposal this week and I'm struggling to come up with a clever title. I'm looking at the usefulness of pre-visualisation to students and the no-budget filmmaker. This includes storyboards, photographs, etc. However, I am also looking specifically at the accuracy of the animatic pre-vizualisation (3D modelling in 3ds Max specifically). Voting Question: What was the first movie or TV show that featured this overused, cliche shot?

Hello, Breaking Bad is my favorite show on TV but I have one complaint. At least once a season it features a shot which was cool at first but is so overused that it is becoming kind of a joke (like the first time you heard auto-tune in a song compared to the ten billionth time you heard it). This is the shot: a character is walking towards the camera and away from a house or a car. The house or car explodes and the the character doesn't flinch or anything, they just keep walking. I've seen this four times in Breaking Bad, in the movie No Country for Old Men, in a commerical for one of those CSI shows (the one with David Caruso putting on sun glasses as the car explodes), in both The Simpsons and American Dad, and several others. There was a kind of parody of this shot in The Dark Knight where the Joker is walking away from the hosptial, he thinks it is going to explode behind him but it doesn't. He stops and turns around to look and then it explodes and it startles him. It was a cool shot but it's even cooler/funnier when you consider how it's a play on a cliche action-movie scene (I read that Heath Ledger improvised the turning aroung and banging on the detonator part). Anyways, this shot is becoming as cliche as the "Which wire do I cut to detonate the bomb?" or the shootout in the house of mirrors scenes that were so overused that they became jokes. Does anyone know in what movie or TV show this "Car exploding behind the unflinching guy" shot originated? more

Resolved Question: Looking for a good camera for beginning photography.?

I'm looking for a good camera for beginning photography, something with a lot of options for different types of pictures. With my budget all I can afford is something under $400. I take action shots (i.e: sports and while running like the girl on the movie 'Yes, Man'), close ups of nature like flowers, objects in the distance, and just everyday shots of people and things. And also I simply don't know much camera talk and don't really know how to compare cameras like a nixon to a canon. I was looking at a Nixon Coolpix S9300 but I was confused with comparing it to other cameras. Open Question: Which DSLR is better? The Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital SLR Camera or Sony SLT A57?

This will be my first DSLR, but I do have a bit of experience with DSLR's so I'm not really falling into something totally new, but there are still many things yet to explore for myself in this field. A majority of what I will be shooting is still life compared to sports shots. I understand that Canon has a significantly wider ranger of lenses, but I honestly only see myself buying me one or two more lenses ever so it's not a big deal. On top of taking stills, I want a camera with solid video capabilities and have heard many mixed reviews, each saying that the sony shines or the canon shines. Obviously I'm quite torn and although I am aware that both meet in a similar quality range, I want to make sure this long term investment I'm going to make is everything I wanted.I'm aware that sony is a SLT, which gives it advantages and disadvantages. I feel however that Sony is really rising as serious competitor in this market, especially seeing as how their translucent mirror technology is what cannon is planning on implementing in later models.@Crim Liar You're mistaken. The Sony can take video for as long as the memory card allows it, another advantage of it being an SLT. more

Resolved Question: Which bridge/super-zoom camera should I get?

I am deeply interested in electronic products and have just recently got into cameras. In fact, I'm even planning to get a camera. I was torn apart between Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) and a bridge/super-zoom camera. But I am not a professional photographer, so I decided to go with bridge cameras. Following are the five cameras I'm interested in: 1. Nikon Coolpix P510 2. Canon Powershot SX40 3. Panasonic Lumix FZ150 4. Sony Cybershot HX200V 5. Fujifilm Finepix HS30 I seem to be confused among these five cameras. Coolpix P510 has a 16.1MP sensor with NIKKOR lens with a ridiculous 42x zoom, and it's great. Powershot SX40 is a decent camera in all respects. It has a 12.1MP imaging sensor with a 35x zoom lens. Lumix FZ150 is the most top rated camera among high zoom cameras, although it only has a 12MP sensor with 24x zoom with is little bit low as compared to other cameras of the same kind. Cybershot HX200V has an insane 18.2MP sensor with 30x optical zoom and Finepix HS30 has a 16.1MP camera sensor and it also has 30x optical zoom. These are the basic specs of these cameras. All I want to know is which is the best among the five cameras and why. Nikon leads in zoom. Panasonic is top rated. Sony has the most effective pixels. Fujifilm excels in ISO. Canon is average with its optical zoom next to Nikon. Which is the best camera? Why? Which aspect of a camera matters the most in photography? Is 12MP sensor not good? Is the 24x optical zoom less? Which camera takes the best shots? Which camera takes the best videos? Which of them is the most of features and functionality? more

As I was researching I found all sorts of labels such as entry level DSLR, pro DSLR, travel zoom, mirrorless, pro digicam, superzoom and ultra compact... And many of them were around the same price.. So basically I just need some help, which type of camera for around $1000 will give me the best quality photos? My mom over reacts over stuff a lot. Yesterday, she came into my room to give me some clean clothes to put away. She saw my bed which was fixed and said "thank you for fixing your bed, I appreciate it" and no joke, literally 3 seconds later, when she sees that my dresser has like 2 things out of place (normally everything is on this wooden platform but I had my camera off to the side) she started freaking out and started lecturing me about how she cleaned my room earlier and it's all messy. Everything else about my room was fine, I just had a few items moved on my cabinet. And then she said "well does your friend have a messy room too?" I said yeah, then she said "well I don't care about your friend." Why would you try comparing me to my friend, then just shut down the statement when you know it's not going your way? And in my bathroom (we have separate bathrooms) there was rubbing alcohol and toilet paper on the counter, and again, she started freaking out. She told me to put all the toilet paper away, and put the alcohol under the counter, and she randomly said "are you having an attitude"? My mom makes it out like I'm a terrible kid, I've seen people say they hate their parents and shit. If I said something like that my mom would probably kick me out (which isn't legal for my age but she's threatened it before). I've tried Diablo 3 - I don't like the amount of clicking involved, the lack of ability to rotate the camera, and ... no wasd, just clicking. I'm in the process of downloading TERA and hope it is more agile, and I've seen gameplay footage of Guild Wars 2, all of which have caught my eye. Can gamers with knowledge of all three suggest the "best" points of each game and compare it with the other two so I can make a decision of which to play... I WILL be trying all 3 and I know, as in d3, that I will initially dislike the controls because of the unfamiliarity, but coming down to gameplay, end-game, pvp I want to know how things look. more

Voting Question: Should I wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3 or just buy the Nexus while the price is low?

I am due to upgrade on May 14th. My guess is that the Galaxy S3 will be out around the end of May. I know the specs are scarce right now, but based on experience, does anybody have any real problems with the Galaxy Nexus or should I wait for the Galaxy s3? I like the price of $199, and with the discount mine would be $149. I am worried the S3 will be far overpriced. I could pay $299 which would be $249 with the discount, but anything over that seems ridiculous to me. Do people foresee the S3 being over $299? And is the Nexus a fine phone enough to be satisfied with it? Is the camera good? the 5mp worries me...I know there isn't much to compare too, so I guess my main question really is, is the Galaxy Nexus a good phone to be satisfied with for 2 years? Will an average user enjoy it? I have a droid X which was great except for the camera freezing up and the huge keyboard glitch that google never fixed with updates. If the Galaxy Nexus is good as it stands, then I will buy it. But if it is glitchy then I might just wait for something else like the S3. more

I'm in the market for a new camera, having a baby in July, and just received a small inheritance from a loved one that passed. Perfect time for a new camera. I would basically be using the camera for taking pictures of the baby, family, events, and trips, so I don't need TOO much. Just quality. I don't want to spend more than $500, so I have narrowed it down. I like canon because it is what I have always had in my basic point and shoots. The Powershot SX40 has some great reviews, is a decent price at $375-ish and may be all I need (I can't see needing extra lenses and fancy attachments) I thought I'd settled on that when I looked at one of the daily deal sites I check every now and then and there is a Rebel T3 for $399 today only. For $25 more am I better off with the Rebel, or is it more that I'll need and use? I want to compare them, but feel like I need to act fast if I want the deal on the Rebel! Resolved Question: Can you help me find a good laptop for school?

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1501 that my brother passed down to me. It's old, pretty big, and is running an unofficial version of Windows 7. It's also a 64-bit system, fyi. It runs pretty fast (although being my first laptop, I have nothing to compare it to). One of the biggest complaints I have is that when multitasking, or playing Minecraft or some other graphics-intense program, it freezes and/or crashes - leading to a hard-restart. A family friend recently gave me his daughter's old Dell Inspiron 1525. This laptop is running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista, and is beyond slow. Since it was stored in his closet for a couple years, after booting up and installing 60 or so updates, doing a virus scan/clean, and deleting old useless files, it still runs slowly. I will be putting 32-bit Professional Windows 7 on it soon, but can't believe it will run that much faster. So, I think I'll just buy a new laptop. I have a few criteria: -Reliable -Good graphics card -Decent battery life (oh yeah, my 1501's battery is shot) -Camera -Windows 7 -Plenty of space -Capable of handling many programs open at once So, if you stuck around to read through this whole thing, can you give me any advice? more

I'm looking to buy a new cell phone and I think I have narrowed the choices down to either a Samsung Galaxy SII (who I am told will drop en price once the new one comes out soon) or a Sony Xperia S (Why is the Ericson part not included here?). They er both in a price range I can manage, have a fairly good camera and looks nice. However, I have no experience with smartphones of this kind, so I have no idea what of those two are the best. ok so i know lots of people believe in ghosts and lots of people don't. my mum believes strongly in ghosts and has told me that ghosts she has seen (one was a kind old lady who looked after my mum and her siblings when she was being abused and the second was rather a strange room. she said it always felt cold no matter how high the heating, she asked her nan to sleep in there and she only spent five minutes trying to unpack her clothes before saying shewouldn'tt be able to sleep in their and said she would sleep on the coach andwouldn'tt say anything else, and when her youngest brother was born his cot was put in that room and he constantly cried when he was left alone in there but fine anywhere else) and my brother practise tarot card reading and believes strongly in ghosts too. ever since i was little i never felt comfortable in the house i have now lived in for nearly 8 years. i nearly always felt like i was being watched especially when i was alone. as i got older i struggle to walk up the stairs at any time of the day because i feel like something is watching me. i tried several home remedies like burning incense, lighting candles, fung shui, meditation and bible readings but nothing has worked. a few months ago my mum bought me a collection of books that centred arround wicca. it wasnt her inttention to get me practising or anything, if anythying the books seemed more of a chic flick than anything meaningful except i thought because it had a very strong magical character maybe i could do something similar to get rid of the uneasy feeling. i'm not one to mess around in stuff like this, i strongly believe that the supernatural should be left alone unless you know what your doing but i was stupid and thought i could take it on. i read some online tips about holy water, prayers to say but decided this wasn't going to get it done quick enough so i looked into more magical forms and came across a spell. i can't quite remember it and i don't think it really did anything except make whatever it is angry. this christmas my mum did a big celebration and invited the whole family round including my brother. i got a camera as one present and when i went to get something from the kitchen thats across the hall form the living room i left my camera on the stairs except this time i decided i would try and film whatever was making me so scared of walking up the stairs. so i left the camera rolling and when i came back i was shocked at what i saw. it wasn't very obvious at first because the screen was small but i put it on a computer and showed my brother and he was blown away. you could clearly see on the 8 second long film that a shadow quickly appears and then move and vanishes. after watching it a few times it felt to eeire and strange to keep it just to myself so i showed my mum who said that she doubted there was anything living here because she has been here alone and nothing has happened. i tried showing her the video again and she just said if anything was here it was welcome. but that's only because it isn't bothering her. more and more things have been happening that are just unexplainable. aome aren't as solid proof. the video but also a christmas photo of all the family. looking at it i saw strange round lights on the picture. doing some research these are called 'orbs' however there were christmas decorations up that could be responsible so i'm not putting it down as concrete however there are more strange things happening. a few days after christmas and the video being filmed i tried turning on the camera only to find that when i did turn it on the screen had gone completely crackly and i could use it at all. i thought it was a bit strange but nothing compared to what started happening next. we have an electric coin sorter that opens so you can take money out in our living room. when me my mum and my sister were sitting in the living room talking the coin sorter suddenly opened by itself. i thought this strange but put it down to faulty wiring. but then i remembered only about a week ago i turned off the t'v' in my mum's room and as i walked out the room it turned on again. then about a week or so before that i had been sitting alone reading when the t.v. switched itself on. and the event that has tipped me over the edge happened today. in the kitchen there was a grey plastic bowl my mum puts the dishes in to soak before she washes them but twice she filled it and twice it emptied by itself without a single hole in it. the hostile feeling has kept me out of my room for months so i have had to sleep on the sofa just to be able to sleep. i'm 14 and i don't know how long i can live wondering if i am ever alone. i just want a straight answer. am i living in a haunted house? more

Voting Question: A member of staff at college opened files on my personal laptop and has made derogatory comments about my work?

Hi folks. A member of staff at college/university opened up files and started poking about on my personal laptop uninvited. In the past he has made derogatory remarks about my art work, comparing it in a negative way to another student, saying it was worthless in comparison. And, about a year ago he reduced me to tears with comments about my choice of camera kit and how I was using it. Am I over-reacting by reporting his conduct? I feel he lacks integrity and is behaving in a very unprofessional way. He appears to have favorites. Plus there are students who think he is okay. Is this just me? Am I over-reacting to this? I have already told lecturers about this, but nothing has improved. No apology has been offered, and I don't think he thinks he's done anything wrong. Resolved Question: How do I upload my ipod photos to something online based without compromising photo quality?

My main concern is I want the quality to be preserved and I want to be able to access it anywhere. I’m considering copying photos from my ipod touch and dumping them into drop box but would like something more automatic such as google+. If my ipod touch camera pictures are 720X960 pixels then uploading them to google+ should not affect their quality, “All photos uploaded in Google+ will be automatically resized to 2048 pixels (on their longest edge)...” The problem I have is that when I compare the uploaded picture on google+ with the original on my computer I can see a drastic decrease in quality even without zooming in. more

Ok sorry for asking again but I currently am looking at selling my Canon rebel T3i because although its a great camera, I hardly take it anywhere due to its size. Thats probably because I havent bought a real lens for it. I use old heavy manual lenses which I took to the city one time and they were a huge pain. So I am looking at a NEX or Olympus Pen. I NEED a viewfinder. After having the Canon I cant go without one. Thats why the Pen is a problem because even the EVF you could get seems awful compared to the Sony's and the sensor is small. Other than that I really like the camera. I feel like I will always take it with me. The NEX on the other hand seems like a point and shoot with all of the menus and seems like a pain to use. Also the best lenses for it are all manual focus and if you get the EVF you might as well get the NEX-7 which has more controls and 12 more pixels than the Pen but its a little over my budget.Or maybe im just craving something new and should just get a Sigma 30mm 1.4 for my rebel. . more

Resolved Question: I need a high speed camera that doesn't cost a fortune for a science project?

I'm doing a coke and mento science project, and obviously, I need to see how high the stream goes (Which type of soda stream goes highest?) and, I figured the only way to accurately compare that is with a high speed camera. I can't afford a $10k high speed camera, OR a $200 camera either. I need a solution, is there an easier way to measure the stream of soda accurately? Or is there this really cheap-o high-speed camera for sale? Again, it needs to be able to capture the stream of soda, so it can't have a really low FPS (Frame per second). I hope someone can help! more
