Open Question: Would it be Crazy to Pursue Both a Career in Medical Anthropology and Archaeology?

I'd like to work with organizations like the ICRC and the EAAF identifying victims of war crimes as a medical/forensic anthropologist...but I'd also really like to be an archaeologist, too. I know that both of these fall nicely under the category of physical/biological anthropology, but what would that mean for my studies? I would need a MA in forensic anthropology in order to participate in the field; I imagine I'd need the same to be an archaeologist, right? Or would a BA suffice for that? Is there any way I could, for example, double-major or get an "option" or "focus" on BOTH at the same time? I want to teach, too, but that could easily go to either discipline. Is it crazy to want to do that? Do any anthropologists do it?Okay, you don't have to go through med school to be a forensic anthropologist, just to be clear. It's a forensic science - not medicine. more

Resolved Question: Would I make enough money to live in a house and eat good food with a PhD in sociology?

I think my chances of getting accepted into medical school are pretty much over. It took me three attempts to pass College Algebra, I'm failing Chemistry, and I just bombed pre-calc-trig mid-term. My parents are going to be very dissapointed. I always loved sociology, writing, analyzing social variables, etc. but until now I haven't considered pursuing it professionally. In the two English classes, historical perspectives, the intro sociology course, and anthropology I passed with A's. So it's not that I'm retarded, I am just very weak in mathematical applications. I love sociology. More so than being a medical doctor and having to go through more math!!! Would I be able to live in a house and never worry about where my next meal will be with a PhD in sociology? more

Resolved Question: What use are these majors?

Resolved Question: PLEASE HELP: I'm so nervous about going to college cause I'm a shitty HS student?

I got into a good college, its a good college that only offers pre-med courses and medical school. But I'm just the worst high school student ever! Even my parents were surprised that I got into such a good school. I just hate high school so much, like not cause of the students but mostly cause it's so like..restricting or something, I don't wear our uniforms, I don't read my books, well I listen in math and science and I get the lessons but yeah, I don't want to do my work cause I don't know, I just feel annoyed sometimes. These are some of the subjects I have to take for college: English 1 & 2 (communication skills 1 & 2) Logic General Psychology Math 1 & 2 (College Algebra & Trigonometry) Natural Science (Zoology 1) - with Lab Computer Zoology 2 (Comparative Anatomy) Philosophy of Man Sociology/Anthropology History And I have to do English 5 (Technical Writing) for the summer. Resolved Question: Medical Anthropology or Art History minor?

So, I'm a pre-med Biology major right now, but I want to add a minor just for fun because I have room in my schedule, but I can't decide between medical anthropology or art history! I took AP art history in high school and absolutely loved it (and got 2 art history college class credits)!! But, I've also taken 2 anthro classes for general education and liked those too. Art history sounds a little more fun, but medical anthropology sounds a little more useful for pre-med. What do you think?! (for both, I would only need 5 more classes! which is easily attainable) more

Resolved Question: How can the adoption of Tai Chi increase the health of our culture?

I’m beginning to hear more and more about Tai Chi and how it’s the secret art of health from China that we all need to learn about. There seems to be something to it, so I’m considering doing this as a topic for a medical anthropology research project. Can anyone with experience in the field give me a good assessment of: The positive health aspects you attribute to Tai Chi. What Tai Chi has done for China. The changes you foresee Tai Chi creating in the Western World. This is already a lot to ask, but any sources being cited would also be most appreciated. more

Resolved Question: Information on the health effects of Tai Chi in China?

I’m writing a medical anthropology paper on Tai Chi, and how it’s been used as a primary method of healing in China. Resolved Question: I ruined my GPA in college but my MCAT is a 36Q, is there anything I can do to get into Medical School?

Any advice on this is questions is extremely helpful! My undergraduate GPA is extremely low at a 3.179. I ruined my GPA in my freshman year and sophomore year struggling to cope with my grandmother's death, adjusting to college life, part-time work, volunteering, and a severe ongoing depression. I picked it back up this year with 4.00s but that is not enough to bring me to the competitive GPAs of people with 3.70 and above! My MCAT score is a 36Q and I want to take it again to raise it. I have numerous activities like volunteer hours in two Emergency Rooms (400+ Hours), a bereavement hospice (400+ hours), volunteering with disabled adults and children (about 5 hrs/week until June), (hopefully) shadowing a well-respected cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon in my area (150+ hours), summer volunteer work building clinics and helping under served populations in the U.S. (500+ hours), three research papers (but no publications yet!), a teaching assistant position for the Fall 2010 semester, and I was promoted at my job from staff to supervisor after working for more than 220+ hours last semester. I have also taken challenging course work (300-400 level courses) and graduate level courses in Biology and Anthropology. I have recommendations from 6 professors, and 1 from my boss. The pre-medical committee at my school is the worst place to be because they strongly discouraged me from applying to medical school but it is my dream to become a physician. I really need help because I am very determined to go to medical school even if my grades before my junior year are a complete joke and the medical school admissions committees will roll on the floor with laughter. Is there any way I can make myself a better applicant? Should I look for more clinical experience? Are there any MCAT book recommendations to help raise my score? Should I get more recommendations? I can't give up hope on my dreams, so please don't say, "just quit." more

Resolved Question: careers which one is the best? nursing, law, or education?

I'm 21 years old, a college senior soon to graduate, double majoring in psychology/anthropology. My freshman year, I intended to be a biology major with hopes medical school. I had difficulties adjusting to college life/dorming, and as a result my grades suffered tremendously. After that I transfered, with the bio hopes still intact. But at that university, I didn't feel I was challenged enough. So I transfered back to my original college, just a different campus....where I picked up my grades and hopefully, I'll be graduting with a 3.5+. I'm a Psychology/Anthropology major, because I really didn't know what else to major in. I grew tired of Biology, and science and I realized I did not have the dedication for the medical school route. I've always been interesed in humans, how we think, our cultures, our origins, etc. But now I feel like these majors, in todays world, are somewhat irrelevant. I really wish that I had chosen a program when I had applied to college. I could have graduated next year with a masters and bachelors together, had I enrolled into some type of program. Now I think that my plan is to take a year off after graduation and try to find a job to pay back some of my loans from school and to gain some experience. I'm really thinking between three possible career paths, but I have different considerations that I'm kind of confused with. These are teaching, nursing, and law. I do substitute teaching now, and I really enjoy the school setting and elementary kids. I've also worked at some summer camps, and I just love kids. It never feels like a job at all, and I feel very young at heart. But my dad is a high school teacher, and he's kind of deterring me from the teaching setting...he says its difficult work and not so respected as much as it deserves to be. The next possible choice is nursing. Nursing is also demanding, and not as respected as it deserves to be. Honestly, nurses are the ones who do all the dirty and hard work. Doctors come in for a few minutes, but nurses are the ones who do pretty much all else. I could enter a program and turn my bachelors into a BSN in nursing in around a year or two. I'm also an EMT and a very nurturing and patient person. If I did nursing, I'd love to work with neonates or pediatrics. But I tend to get easily intimidated by people of a higher authority---like doctors and such. And i'm kind of beyond the whole science route....but nursing can be rewarding, healthcare promises job stability, and the money is good. Finally, I've been considering law. I think I can be very persuasive and an adept writer. I love to read and write, and if I entered law, once again, I'd want to work on behalf of children's rights, and women's rights. Some of my considerations before picking a possible career are that, I still live at home. At this point in my life, I'm feeling very grateful but stifled living at home...and I really wish to get out into the world on my own. But I think if I got into law school, I'd have to live at home for 3-4 years. I'm not sure a teacher's salary would give me the financial freedom I need to pay back my school loans and live at home, and I'm not sure if I can snap back so easily into science after studying the humanities for so long...my mind has kind of switched gears...but if i settled into nursing, I'm very studious and committed so I can do it. I've been in school for my entire life, with no breaks in between. Graduate school is an eventual plan, for sure. I'm planning to take a year off to really think about what I want to do, because up until now, I've always been indecisive and changing my mind. I really want to make sure that I've figured everything out, instead of going to grad school for teaching for example, and then deciding I want to do law. Any suggestion would be greatly welcome and appreciated. Especially from teachers, nurses, and those in the law setting. Thank you!!! more

Resolved Question: Is it Atheist fascism and Christian communism?

First off, this is a purely academic question and isn't by any means meant to imply anything on either belief system. So all in all we know that within the last century the two most evil epochs and regimes they were caused by are the fascists (most notably the Nazis) and the communists (most notably the Stalinists). However, why did they pick their state religious beliefs that they did? When we look at communism (especially in the Soviet Union) the idealism of the teachings of Christ is emphasized that all should be equal, live communally, and respect one another regardless of race and ethnicity (even though that didn't work out fully). Also people should give and receive fairly and no one should have more than the other, that we are all equal and of equal value to society and life. In fact (from cultural anthropology courses I've taken) if we look at sub-societal groups both in Europe and American such as the Mestizos, the Amish, the Shakers, the Oniedans, and most other of these sub-groups that still exist and even before communism ever started we see that they claim to be strong Christian groups that emphasize their communal and productivity living methods. Many anthropologists estimate that they have more communal living than the soviet union did and emphasize practically the same characteristics of communism- such as no private living but living as one communally, not judging by race, ethnicity, or deformity, little to no private goods, and long work hours with equal consumption in resource such as food and water, along with little outside trading and business. We also see that these communities (including the soviet union) have little respect and expanding on the sciences unless it's for their own technology. We see this in Stalin as many historians claim that he didn't believe in evolution, yet supported atomic physics greatly for the development of atomic weapons for his military. Nonetheless we can see the comparisons. With fascism we have a society that is much more based on science, and beleives greatly in evolution, genetics, and biological population spectrums. We also see how darwinian methods, eugenics, medical and societal judgment based on biologically determined-features, along with emphasis on a population with greater health, certain genetic beauty and physical capability, and even IQ rates and ethnicity and race. This is usually put on the spectrum of inferior and superior in human judgment. (Please note that none of this related to atheism.) So with such emphasis on the sciences (mainly no/unethical since there was a lot of misuse/misinterpretations, pseudoscience, and human rights violations involved from derived scientific) why was such a society proned to chose religion over atheism and/or non-religion as their state belief? We clearly have a society going against its chosen belief to interfere with nature and human rights so why not go with atheism which would have nothing against what they committed and remove and unnecessary system in the state to escape judgement or hypocrisy as their religious beliefs held. (Please note atheism for such a regime in means of removing a worthless entity, not modern atheism which is completely different in association with science and philosophy.) While I am aware that the beleif systems of both of these regimes had little to nothing to do with their actions, the simple choice in belief was ironic. Note that both were ultra evil with fascism in nature more than communism with numbers of innocent killed. We see Mussolini at some points (and Hitler a bit) being against the church and anti-clerical but then go to emphasize religion- Mussolini even made it mandatory for catholic crosses to be put in almost every public area. Then we see Stalin and Mao at times supporting their countries' original religions and not taking full purges against them, however they also emphasized communistic atheism and both (especially Stalin) declared a state war against religion during both his great purges. So why do you think? Again this question has nothing to do with modern atheistic or Christian beliefs, but rather a historical or societal inquiry on why such ended up as it did. Thanks for taking the time to answer, again this question is for academic purposes. If you're too lazy to read then don't answer....point gobblers. If you're too lazy to read then don't answer....point gobblers. more

Voting Question: med school ? career in the medical field ? major in anthropology ?

I'm currently sixteen years old, full time college/high school student. My passion is, and probably always will be anthropology. I love every aspect of it, and I was hoping to major in Physical/Biological Anthropology, then go onto medical school. In the past year, I have become extremely concerned about my future, especially since I am in college now. Medical school is so expensive, and I'm not the best at math. (Today I even think I failed my math final) When I graduate from high school (in 2011) I will have enough credits to transfer to a major university from my current community college. However, my question is realistically, what are my chances in succeeding in the medical career if I go this route (majoring in anthro then going to med school) ? I've also been thinking about becoming a physician assistant ? (But I heard that you must major in Health, get your BA then later go to PA school) Is this true ? Thanks for your advice :) more

Resolved Question: Am I On TRACK? Help Please(:?

I'm a home-schooled sophomore (in high school obviously), planning on going to college for premed. Right now I want to major (maybe double?) in either Biology or Psychology and minor in communications. The colleges I really like are: Penn State, U. of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, U. of Wisconsin - Madison, U of Maryland - CP, UCONN, etc. Do you think I have what is takes to get in to all of these places? What are my chances? What more can I do? Classes I've taken/taking (9th and 10th grade): -Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Health, Microbiology, Physical Science, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Advanced/Honors U.S. History, Advanced/Honors World History, Debate, Human Geography, Biology, Advanced/Honors Psychology, Chemistry, Grammar, Grammar and Composition, Vocabulary, Human Geography, Photography, Keyboarding/computer, Format Writing, Writing, World/English Literature, Introduction to Geography, Consumer Math, Medical Terminology (online and textbook), Art, Anthropology, Advanced/Honors Macroeconomics, Ancient Latin, German language, German history and culture- Extracurricular Activities: Since I want to go to medical school I volunteer at a hospital (candy striper), shadowed a doctor, German language club, pilates/yoga class-club, YFU volunteer, tutor young kids, and have a job as a waitress (yes, most colleges consider a job an extracurricular). Now I know this isn’t a lot but I live in a small town in a pretty rural area so I’m doing the best I can. Facts: 4.0 GPA (No, my mother does not grade my work, a non-relative does) Member of the National Home School Honor Society (just like the Nation Honor Society) PLAN (preliminary ACT) score was 30 out of 32 Over the summer I will be taking Phlebotomy (the person who takes peoples’ blood for tests) at my local community college to become licensed. BTW: I can NOT take AP classes where I live (they only offer 3 at the Board of Ed. And the tests are over 3 hours away!) but by the time a graduate I will have taken Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Honors Pre-Calculus, Honors Calculus, and Honors German language. Thanks for all your opinions and advice! I will pick a Best Answer. (:Lauren: That isn't what they told me. I think you are referring to the ACT (which is 36), the PLAN is 32. more

Resolved Question: Husband always takes his mom's medical advice over mine - and I'm a doctor!?

My husband and I have been married for 6 years. I've been a practicing gastroenterologist for 7 years and I also have my PhD in Anthropology with a specialty in medicine. So, there's my resume, haha. My problem is, my husband always double-checks any of the medical advice I give him with his mother, who almost always disagrees with what I've said. Whenever I get upset about this, he dismisses it because his mother has "more experience" than I do, which, yes, she did work in a hospital for 15 years, twice as long as I have, but she was a nurse's aide, not a doctor. It really drives me crazy. It's like I went to school for 10 years more than she did but for no reason. What am I supposed to do about this?Just to clarify, I only give him advice on stomach/intestinal problems. I would never advise him one something outside of my specialty. more

Resolved Question: Choosing the right major before going to med school?

plan on going to Medical school after my first 4 years. Although I had known that you don't have to major in something science related to get into med school, I still figured I would major in Biomedical Sciences so I would be better prepared for med school. However recently I am rethinking that. I am also very interested in Anthropology and since I took chemistry junior year and I'm taking ap chem this year, and I know I'lll have to take some more in college and then take a ton in med school. I thought that it might be nice to major in anthro instead, and also make me a more well-rounded student. Which one would you suggest? more

Resolved Question: What are my chances of being accepted into Grad School for (Cultural) Anthropology?

I will be graduating by May 2010 with a BA in Anthropology from a Cal State. I just applied to four Graduate programs for (Cultural) Anthropology: Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, and UCLA. Based on the following, what do think my chances are of getting into any of these programs? >>Cumulative GPA 3.5 >>Fluent in American Sign Lanaguage (have worked as a professional sign language interpreter for six years at two Cal State Universities and various community colleges) >>Have worked in various settings as an interpreter, including: mental health, elementary-high school interpreting, medical settings, religious ceremonies >>Plan to study the Deaf community for MA thesis >>Average scores on the GRE *Thanks in advance for responding :) more

Voting Question: Planning for College?

So I'm thinking about doing a Biology/Anthropology double major, most likely with post-grad study (unsure of what yet but either continuing anthropology or med school) and maybe a minor in Spanish. I'm not really quite sure of what classes to take, but have a rough outline things I've taken/want to take: 9th: English I Pre-AP Geometry Pre-AP Biology Pre-AP World Geography Pre-AP Health/Student Leadership Spanish I 10th: English II Pre-AP Algebra II Pre-AP Chemistry Pre-AP World History AP Yearbook Spanish II 11th: English III AP Pre-Calculus Pre-AP Physics Pre-AP Biology AP European History AP Spanish III Pre-AP 12th: English IV AP Calculus AP Anatomy & Physiology of Human Systems Medical Microbiology/Pathophysiology Pyschology AP Spanish IV AP Summer Courses (throughout school): U.S. History Government Economics Art Would these classes be good to take for a biology/anthropology focus? There are extracurriculars too, but this is already a little long :) What would you suggest? more

Resolved Question: What Major(s) would be a good back up if Med. School doesn't work out?

It's always been my dream to go to Medical School and people always lecture me for even questioning the possibility of me making it or not. However, I'm just trying to be realistic by asking what majors could possibly be a good option if Medical School doesn't work out or if I needed to take a year off. I'm considering Public Health, Anthropology and Psychology right now. Is it possible to find post-grad careers in those fields? more

Resolved Question: Somewhere for conscious minds to collaborate?

I need some people who I can have intelligent conversation with. Like a forum or site or something where conscious people talk about things. My main interests are: -Music (especially Death metal, progressive, ambient, trip hop) -Visual arts (surreal, symbolic) -Reading (Kurt Vonnegut, Daniel Quinn, Ray Bradbury, Jack Kerouac) -Philosophy -Psychology -Psychedelics (medical and insightful use of LSD, DMT) -Anthropology -Sociology -Space (Quantum Physics, Alternate Dimensions, Aliens, UFO Abductions, Extra Dimensional Beings) Does anyone know any forums that might cover any of these areas or maybe other sites you might know of that would be cool?Myspace groups, and other social networking sites like it, are clogged with polarized radicals who can't be open minded to any opinion or idea other than what they believe. Resolved Question: Short anthropology paper about reciprocity (reference article included!)...?

I am having trouble figuring out some exact examples of reciprocity given in the following article... Can anyone help??? Eating Christmas in the Kalahari Richard Borshay Lee The !Kung Bushmen’s knowledge of Christmas is thirdhand. The London Missionary Society brought the holiday to the southern Tswana tribes in the early nineteenth century. Later, native catechists spread the idea far and wide among the Bantu-speaking pastoralists, even in the remotest corners of the Kalahari Desert. The Bushmen’s idea of the Christmas story, stripped to its essentials, is “praise the birth of white man’s god-chief”; what keeps their interest in the holiday high is the Tswana-Herero custom of slaughtering an ox for his Bushmen neighbors as an annual goodwill gesture. Since the 1930’s, part of the Bushmen’s annual round of activities has included a December congregation at the cattle posts for trading, marriage brokering, and several days of trancedance feasting at which the local Tswana headman is host. As a social anthropologist working with !Kung Bushmen, I found that the Christmas ox custom suited my purposes. I had come to the Kalahari to study the hunting and gathering subsistence economy of the !Kung, and to accomplish this it was essential not to provide them with food, share my own food, or interfere in any way with their food-gathering activities. While liberal handouts of tobacco and medical supplies were appreciated, they were scarcely adequate to erase the glaring disparity in wealth between the anthropologist, who maintained a two-month inventory of canned goods, and the Bushmen, who rarely had a day’s supply of food on hand. My approach, while paying off in terms of data, left me open to frequent accusations of stinginess and hard-heartedness. By their lights, I was a miser. The Christmas ox was to be my way of saying thank you for the cooperation of the past year; and since it was to be our last Christmas in the field, I determined to slaughter the largest, meatiest ox that money could buy, insuring that the feast and trance-dance would be a success. Through December I kept my eyes open at the wells as the cattle were brought down for watering. Several animals were offered, but none had quite the grossness that I had in mind. Then, ten days before the holiday, a Herero friend led an ox of astonishing size and mass up to our camp. It was solid black, stood five feet high at the shoulder, had a fivefoot span of horns, and must have weighed 1,200 pounds on the hoof. Food consumption calculations are my specialty, and I quickly figured that bones and viscera aside, there was enough meat—at least four pounds—for every man, woman, and child of the 150 Bushmen in the vicinity of /ai/ai who were expected at the feast. Having found the right animal at last, I paid the Herero £20 ($56) and asked him to keep the beast with his herd until Christmas day. The next morning word spread among the people that the big solid black one was the ox chosen by / ontah (my Bushman name; it means, roughly, “whitey”) for the Christmas feast. That afternoon I received the first delegation. Ben!a, an outspoken sixtyyear- old mother of five, came to the point slowly. “Where were you planning to eat Christmas?” “Right here at /ai/ai,” I replied. “Alone or with others?” “I expect to invite all the people to eat Christmas with me.” “Eat what?” “I have purchased Yehave’s black ox, and I am going to slaughter and cook it.” “That’s what we were told at the well but refused to believe it until we heard it from yourself.” “Well, it’s the black one,” I replied expansively, although wondering what she was driving at. “Oh, no!” Ben!a groaned, turning to her group. “They were right.” Turning back to me she asked, “Do you expect us to eat that bag of bones?” “Bag of bones! It’s the biggest ox at / ai/ai.” “Big, yes, but old. And thin. Everybody knows there’s no meat on that old ox. What did you expect us to eat off it, the horns?” Everybody chuckled at Ben!a’s oneliner as they walked away, but all I could manage was a weak grin. That evening it was the turn of the young men. They came to sit at our evening fire. /gaugo, about my age, spoke to me man-to-man. “/ontah, you have always been square with us,” he lied. “What has happened to change your heart? That sack of guts and bones of Yehave’s will hardly feed one Article 4. Eating Christmas in the camp, let alone all the Bushmen around ai/ai.” And he proceeded to enumerate the seven camps in the /ai/ai vicinity, family by family. “Perhaps you have forgotten that we are not few, but many. Or are you too blind to tell the difference between a proper cow and an old wreck? That ox is thin to the point of death.” “Look, you guys,” I retorted, “that is a beautiful animal, and I”m sure you will eat it with pleasure at Christmas.” “Of course we will eat it; it’s food. ButYes, I DO know what reciprocity means, thank you! more

Resolved Question: Have you tried Salvia Divinorum?

Hello! I'm an anthropology student doing a research project on Salvia for one of my classes. I would be very thankful if anyone could answer some of my questions. 1.-Could you tell the reason you decided to try it? Was it for recreational, spiritual, or medical purposes? Or maybe a combination of any of these? 2.-Did you have a positive or negative experience? 3.-Did you start using it for recreational purposes and then have a spiritual experience? Or did you find that it had benefits for a physical or psychological illness? Which one/s? 4.-Did you have previous knowledge of the plant or did you do any research before using it? 5.-Please tell me if you have any spiritual beliefs, if you have had other experiences with other similar substances, the method of ingestion, dosage, and your age. Resolved Question: Evidence for a European first appearance of H. sapiens?

Do the Swanscombe skull (England) and the Steinheim skull (Germany) prove that Homo sapiens lived in Europe 250,000 years ago? If so, then doesn't that contradict the "recent out-of-Africa" position based on Mitochondrial Eve? By the way, why does Yahoo Answers think that anthropology is a social science? It's not entirely about culture. There's a good bit of biological evolution, genetics, physiology, and medical science involved. Anthropology is no more of a social science than is zoology in general. It is strange to find that, here, anthropology is treated as a subcategory to social science. more

But Business OMG, I don't wanna let go, BUT what if I'm not succesful? What If I don't make the money I could with dentistry? But I do love to travel and see the world(I already have an AS in Anthropology)...what do you gusy think? Any HONEST third person views please/ Do you see my situation? Classes I've taken/will be taking (9th and 10th grade): •Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Health, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physical Science, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, U.S. History, Advanced World History, Debate, Human Geography, Biology, Advanced Psychology, Chemistry, Grammar, Grammar and Composition, Vocabulary, Keyboarding/computer, Format Writing, Writing, World/English Literature, Introduction to Geography, Consumer Math, Medical Terminology (online and textbook), Art, Anthropology, Advanced Macroeconomics, Ancient Latin, German language, German history and culture, etc.• Extracurricular Activities: Since I want to go to medical school, I volunteer at the hospital, shadow a doctor, tutor kids at an elementary school, library (work with the little kids), YFU, cancer advocate (team captain), Habitat for Humanity (during the summer), dance, take pilates and yoga, I’m in a German club, Knitting club, and book club which I founded. FACTS: 4.0 unweighted GPA. PLAN (preliminary ACT) score was 30 out of 32. I'm also in the National Home School Society (like the National Honor Society)! (: Over the summer in between Sophomore and Junior year (summer 2010) I'll be taking a couple courses at my local Community College to become a certified Phlebotomist and will be working in a funeral home as an assistant. I will also have a job as a waitress. *Junior Year: I'll probably be doing Biology research at a university. BTW: Just so you know, I live an a very small town, I can NOT take AP classes where I live (they only offer 3 at the Board of Ed. (: more
